Fact Check : Robbers Pretending To Be Government Officials?

Fact Check : Robbers Pretending To Be Government Officials?

Is there a gang of robbers pretending to be government officials?!

Find out what’s going on, and what the FACTS really are!

Viral Warning : Robbers Pretending To Be Government Officials!

People are sharing messages warning of a gang of robbers pretending to be government officials, together with a picture purportedly of one of these robbers.

Here is the English and Malay version of the viral warnings being shared on WhatsApp and Facebook :

Security Alert from Police: Be warned, there is a group going to homes and pretending to be officials from home affairs.

They have documents with the letterhead Department of Home Affairs and claim to be confirming that everyone has a valid ID for the upcoming elections.

They are robbing homes. Take note there is no initiative like that from the government.

Send this on your neighbourhood group chat. They are everywhere and they look presentable.

Mereka sebenarnya ingin merompak rumah. Perhatikan bahawa tidak ada inisiatif seperti itu dari pemerintah.

Hantar ini pada group whatsapp kejiranan anda. Mereka berada di mana-mana dan kelihatan kemas rapi seperti seorang pegawai.

Robbers Pretending To Be Government Officials : Fake News!

This is just FAKE NEWS. There is no gang of robbers pretending to be government officials!

The Malaysia Immigration Department and the Royal Malaysia Police announced on 13 July 2021, that the man in the photo is a genuine Immigration officer.

According to Ampang District Police Chief, ACP Mohamad Farouk Ishak, the Immigration officer was conducting an official investigation into an individual staying at a house in Pandan Indah, Ampang.

From the picture, you can clearly see that the officer is wearing a t-shirt with the Immigration Department HQ logo, and carries an Immigration Malaysia badge as well.

The Immigration officer introduced himself and inform the residents of the purpose of his visit. Therefore, the fake viral message is FALSE, and slanderous to the officer.

The 60 year-old Malaysian homeowner who hosted the Immigration officer during his inspection also lodged a police report over the matter.

OnePlus Promotes Note20 + S Pen, Instead Of Nord 2 5G!

Samsung got a very nice surprise today, when OnePlus India promoted the Galaxy Note20 and its S Pen, instead of their upcoming Nord 2 5G smartphone!

Find out what happened, and why it’s making everyone laugh during this difficult time!

OnePlus Promotes Note20 + S Pen, Instead Of Nord 2 5G!

Samsung got a very nice surprise today, when OnePlus India promoted the Galaxy Note20 and its S Pen, instead of their upcoming Nord 2 5G smartphone!

OnePlus India announced today that they are launching the Nord 2 5G smartphone on 22 July 2021, at 7:30 PM IST.

However, earlier today, their team made a hilarious faux pas. Instead of posting a teaser video of the upcoming OnePlus Nord 2 5G smartphone, they posted a video of the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra and its S Pen.

The tweet even said “The enhanced #SPen is my weapon of choice“!

That sure made us laugh! And I’m sure Samsung is very appreciative of how much the OnePlus India team likes their Galaxy Note20 Ultra smartphone and its S Pen. LOL!

Our friend at Vtechgraphy even posted this meme, to which we added an emoji of us laughing!

Credit : Vtechgraphy

Thanks For The Laugh, We Won’t Forget About Nord 2 5G!

It has been a really shitty 2020 and an even worse 2021, so we thank you for the laughter. It was sorely needed!

And don’t worry – we won’t forget about the Nord 2 5G. Heck, now even more people will know about it – a win, win for everyone!

As for the person who posted it, OnePlus India promises that no interns or managers were “harmed” in posting that tweet!

Fact Check : Amazing Robot Dancers At Shanghai Disneyland!

Did China create these amazing robot dancers at the Shanghai Disneyland, beating even the Japanese?

Watch the viral clip for yourself, and find out what the FACTS really are!

Claim : China Created Classic Robot Dancers At Shanghai Disneyland!

Here is the video that countless people have been sharing on social media and even on YouTube. It is often paired with a short explanation in (broken) English.

This classic dance is only created in China and broadcast in Shanghai Disneyland. They are not female dance artists, but all robots made in China.

The performance time is only about 5 minutes, but the ticket queue time takes 4 hours , The ticket price is 499 yuan.

It has surpassed Japan in complexity, and saw its perfect facial expressions. Send this video to everyone to watch, let us enjoy together…

Classic Robot Dancers At Shanghai Disneyland : The Truth

The agility and grace of these classic robot dancers at Shanghai Disneyland is amazing.

The less gullible would point out that it is something you would only expect from professional human dancers, and they would be right.

Fact #1 : That Is A Video Of A CBDF Competition

That is actually a video clip from one of the many competitions organised and broadcast by the CBDF (Chinese Ballroom Dance Federation).

Although we cannot ascertain who the dancers are, you can see the CBDF logo in the background, at 4:06 and 4:41.

No robot made today can match their agility and grace.

Fact #2 : 499 Yuan Was The Entry Price To Shanghai Disneyland

The fake story claimed that the ticket to watch this performance costs 499 Yuan – about US$73 / £55 / RM303. That would be ridiculously exorbitant for a single show.

In truth, that was the cost of an entry ticket to the Shanghai Disneyland when it first opened in February 2016.

Since 6 June 2018, it has been priced at 399 Yuan (off-peak), 575 Yuan (peak) and 665 Yuan (peak holiday).

Fact #3 : Disneyland Does Not Charge Extra To Watch Certain Shows

Anyone who has been to Disneyland knows that the entry fee is pricey. That’s because it covers all rides and shows inside Disneyland.

You only need to pay for food and drinks, and arcade games. Or if you opt to purchase Disney Fastpasses (Fastpass, FastPass+, MaxPass) to bypass long queues at popular rides or shows.

Otherwise, all rides and shows are free to enjoy once you enter Disneyland.

Fact #4 : That Is Not The Only Fake Video Of Chinese Robot Dancers

That is not the only fake video of Chinese robot dancers.

This one circulated earlier, claiming to be of a female robot dancer that beats Japanese made-robots.

In this example, they took the video clip from the 2018 World Dance Sport Federation Championship in Lithuania…

Who Would Create Fake Stories About Robot Dancers?

With China’s aggressive foreign stance in recent years, it is not uncommon to see such fake stories being created and shared.

Some believe it’s part of a concerted attempt to burnish China’s image overseas.

Others believe the many fake stories are being created to drown out the negative coverage of China’s controversial Belt and Road Initiative, and their aggressive moves in the South China Sea.

Whatever the reasons may be, it is our duty as global citizens to stop the proliferation of such fake stories.

Please share this fact check with your friends, so they know the truth!

Fact Check : G64 COVID-19 Strain From India + Egypt?

Is there a new G64 super spreading COVID-19 strain from India and Egypt?

Find out what’s been said about this G64 super spreader strain, and what the FACTS really are!

Claim : G64 Super Spreader COVID-19 Strain From India + Egypt!

This warning has been spreading on WhatsApp, with a link to a MalaysiaKini report called KL restaurant customer part of new cluster, nine cases report today.

CODE RED WARNING TO ALL MALAYSIAN

Stay away from Mamak shop, nasi bandar and all Indian restaurant hiring Indian workers from India utk sementara waktu, a new covid cluster in KL and potentially spread to the whole country.

Genom G64 covid 19 from india and Egypt are super spreader virus. No appropriate vaccines or treatment for these viruses at least till 2023. Escape strategy for these virus cannot be done at the moment.

G64 COVID-19 Strain From India + Egypt? Bullshit!

The viral warning has actually been circulating since August 2020 and is completely false! Here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : MalaysiaKini Labelled It Fake

Most people do not read beyond the headlines or the message, and the person who created this fake message knows that very well.

He/she intentionally inserted the link to a genuine MalaysiaKini article, to make it look like a genuine warning based on the article.

However, the article does not refer to any particular COVID-19 strain, or referred to any super spreader variant.

It only mentioned that the first two cases in the Maju cluster involved workers at a restaurant, but it is unknown if they are foreigners or locals.

In any case, MalaysiaKini labelled the message as FAKE on 27 August 2020.

Malaysiakini would like to warn its readers that one of the news portal’s articles regarding the Covid-19 outbreak is being used to spread a fake message via WhatsApp.

The WhatsApp message uses this genuine link and attaches fake news with a xenophobic message and fake science.

Fact #2 : There Is No G64 COVID-19 Strain

There is no such thing as a G64 strain of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

At that time, the concern was over the D614G strain that was detected in the Sivagangga Cluster, which originated from India.

The D614G strain is more infectious than the original strain, but is not more dangerous.

This fake news is spreading again in April 2021, because there is a catastrophic surge of COVID-19 cases in India; and they found a new variant with double mutations – both L452R and E484Q mutations.

However, this new variant is not linked to the surge of COVID-19 cases in India. That was due to the Indian government allowing massive political rallies and the giant Kumbh Mela festival to proceed.

Fact #3 : There Are Now Vaccines!

We have to point this out, because this viral message is still spreading, and people actually believe that there is no vaccine for this (fake) G64 strain of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Multiple COVID-19 vaccines have now been approved, and administered worldwide. So make sure you get vaccinated against COVID-19 ASAP!

China Used Hot Drinks + Steam To Kill COVID-19?

The Sun FM video on how China used hot drinks and steam to kill COVID-19 keeps getting shared on WhatsApp.

Find out why it’s so popular, and what the FACTS really are!

Sun FM : China Used Hot Drinks + Steam To Kill COVID-19!

In an effort to leverage off the “hot topic” of COVID-19 in the early days, Sun FM – an Indian radio station that is related to Sun TV – created and released a video that went viral.

The video went viral on Facebook and WhatsApp, because Sun FM made a lot of incredible claims :

  1. No one dies of COVID-19 in China
  2. The Chinese don’t seek medical attention even if they get COVID-19
  3. The Chinese controlled COVID-19 by :
    a) drinking hot water 6 times a day
    b) drinking hot milk + tea 4 times a day
    c) inhaling steam as often as possible
  4. By consuming hot drinks and inhaling steam for 4 days, they are cured of COVID-19 on the 5th day.
  5. The PCR test will turn up negative.
  6. Medicine cannot totally cure COVID-19, but the heat can.

They then end the video, asking people to share the video, and telling them “Our interest is your safety”.

China Used Hot Drinks + Steam To Kill COVID-19? BULLSHIT!

When we first saw Sun FM release this video in mid-2020, it was obvious they were just making it up. The whole video was utter BULLSHIT.

Nothing in it is remotely true. And they had the gall to claim that their interest is your safety. BULLSHIT!

Fact #1 : Many People Died Of COVID-19 In China!

As of January 2021, China reported 90,329 cases of COVID-19, of which 4,636 people died.

That is a very high mortality rate of 5.13%! Basically – 1 out of every 20 COVID-19 patients in China died.

Fact #2 : Chinese Hospitals Were Full!

COVID-19 spread so rapidly in China that their hospitals quickly filled up. Pictures and video showed people crowding hospitals, desperate to find help.

China quickly built two makeshift hospitals – Leishenshan (Thunder God Mountain) and Huoshenshan (Fire God Mountain).

So urgent was their need that they built the Huoshenshan Hospital in just 10 days!

Fact #3 : Hot Drinks Won’t Prevent COVID-19

The SARS-CoV-2 virus is a respiratory virus, which means it primarily infects you through your respiratory system, and to a lesser extent – through your eyes.

Therefore, drinking hot water and drinks, even coffee or tea, have absolutely NO EFFECT on the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Fact #4 : SARS-CoV-2 Does Not Hang Around For 4 Days

After you inhale the SARS-CoV-2 virus, it will IMMEDIATELY infect and hijack your cells to replicate.

It takes a few days before it infects enough cells, and your body recognises and reacts to the threat, for symptoms to show.

But that doesn’t mean they are on a holiday in your nose, giving you four days to kill them with steam, before finally infecting you!

Fact #5 : Inhaling Steam Is Dangerous + Won’t Kill Virus

Inhaling steam will NOT weaken or kill any virus in your nose. Inhaling hot steam at 60°C to 70°C can cause burn damage to your nose.

In fact, Dr. Satyanarayana Mysore, the HOD of Pulmonology at Manipal Hospitals reported seeing many cases of scalded airways and worsening asthma due to steam inhalation in March, April and May 2020.

Recommended : Can Inhaling Steam + Supplements Prevent COVID-19?

Fact #6 : China Never Used Steaming To Cure COVID-19!

China succeeded in clamping down on the COVID-19 pandemic, by

Not once did the Chinese ever recommend, or even practiced, the use of steam inhalation to treat COVID-19.

Fact #7 : There Are Now Vaccines!

We have to point this out, because this viral message is still spreading, and people actually believe Sun FM’s fake video.

Multiple COVID-19 vaccines have now been approved, and administered worldwide. So make sure you get vaccinated against COVID-19 ASAP!

CNN Reporter Caught Faking Chinese Translation On TV?

Did a CNN reporter get caught lying on live TV about what a Chinese man really said?

Take a look at the viral video, and find out what the FACTS really are!

CNN Reporter Caught Faking Chinese Translation On TV?

A video clip showing a CNN reporter lying about what a Chinese man said on live TV is going viral, together with this message :

All he said was, “I just finished dinner with friends and want to catch up on my texts.”
If you know Mandarin, you can see how CNN can make up their news.
I can’t believe CNN will go this low.

In the video, the CNN reporter is seen asking a Chinese man why he’s drinking by himself.

The man replied (in Chinese) that he just had dinner with friends and was now, just taking a look at his phone.

But the CNN reporter told the CNN anchor a completely different story,

“Jesus, you can see by the look on his face. This man told me that his family had been taken away, that his brother’s sick, and he can’t get out.”

“And the only thing that’s left to do is drink. And really, I can’t blame him. Poor guy.”

No, The CNN Reporter Was Not Faking Chinese Translation Because…

… the truth is this video was edited, and is being used as Chinese propaganda.

In this video, we will show you why this video is NOT real, and is just another piece of Chinese propaganda.

The viral video clip is really a 29 second segment of a much longer video that runs 4 minutes and 19 seconds.

The original video was created by a UK student living in China, who calls himself Comerad James.

He stated clearly in his original video that he wanted to show how easy it was to make fake news.

Anyone watching his video can see that it was intentionally satirical, with the title CNN Global Bullcast, and his nickname there – Comerad James.

You can even see that both the CNN anchor and the CNN reporter are the same person – Comerad James himself.

And note that he even put in all sorts of Easter eggs – GME (GameStop) share price rising 9999%, and chyrons about public alcoholism spiralling out of control because Chinese citizens are giving up hope.

Comerad James created this video to satirise the “lack of integrity” of CNN and BBC in covering news on China.

Ironically, his video ended up being edited and used by Chinese propagandists to malign CNN’s integrity. So much for “integrity”.

The truth is major news organisations like CNN have fact-checkers and native speakers. Such a broadcast would have been caught very quickly, and they would have apologised for it.

If they didn’t, news of this would spread like wildfire and CNN would have been justifiably castigated online. Not just by Chinese citizens and Sinophiles, but also by other media outlets and the public in general.

On the other hand, Chinese propaganda outlets masquerading as news agencies like CGTN have never apologised or corrected themselves, even after they were caught lying.

Heck, the Chinese Foreign Ministry themselves lied publicly to back up CGTN’s false claims.

When you see such videos, THINK TWICE before forwarding them. You could be helping to propagate Chinese fake news / propaganda.

But feel free to share them with us, so we can fact-check them.

Fact Check : Dr Noor Hisham Tendered His Resignation?

A WhatsApp message has gone viral, claiming that Dr Noor Hisham has tendered his resignation!

Take a look at the WhatsApp message, and find out what the facts really are!

Viral Claim : Dr Noor Hisham Has Tendered His Resignation!

This is the WhatsApp message that has gone viral, claiming that Dr Noor Hisham has tendered his resignation!

FINALLY DR NOOR HAS PUT HIS FOOT DOWN.
THE DAILY FIGURES FOR COVID 19 ARE BACKLOG FROM LAST YEAR.\
THE REASON BEING THE PRIME MINISTER AND TWO MINISTERS ARE KEEN TO CONTINUE THE RISE TO JUSTIFY THE BLUNTED IN RUNNING THE NATION.
THEY WANT TO CONTINUE STAYING IN THEIR POSITION.
I AM NOT SURE WHY ALL THE SULTANS ARE KEEPING MUM ON THIS.

THE ACTUAL FIGURE IS LESS THAN 100 DAILY SINCE EARLY JANUARY 2021.

IT IS TIME LIKE THIS THAT EVERYONE USE THEIR COMMON SENSE WHY PASAR MALAM IS ALLOWED TO RUN FROM 4PM TO 10PM AND KINDERGARTEN HAS BEEN ON WHILE THE REST ARE ON MCO.

AFTER THE ANNOUNCEMENT EXTENSION TO 16TH FEBRUARY 2021, THE MINISTER WENT TO HIS PENTHOUSE TO HAVE A CELEBRATION. ALL 13 OF THEM DID NOT FOLLOW SOCIAL DISTANCING NOR WEAR A MASK.

WHILE A TRIP TO BUY ESSENTIALS GOODS WAS GIVEN SUMMONED.

Villagers fined for trip to Tenom to get essential supplies
TODAY ANYONE CAUGHT WILL BE FINE RM10,000 WHILE MINISTERS ARE ABOVE THE LAW.

IT IS TIME LIKE THIS THAT MALAYSIANS WISH SOMETHNG DRASTIC IS DONE TO STOP THE DOUBLE STANDARD.

It is actually a copy and paste of a MalaysiaFlipFlop blog post.

Dr Noor Hisham Tendered His Resignation? Nope!

The Malaysia Ministry of Health and Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah himself has called the post fake news, denying that he tendered his resignation.

We should also point out that the MalaysiaFlipFlop post is factually wrong in a couple of instances :

Fact #1 : Only Some Cases Are From Last Year

While MalaysiaFlipFlop claims that COVID-19 daily figures are from last year, that is only true for a few cases.

On 31 January, 2021, the Director General of Health, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, said that the recent surge of over 5,000 daily cases was partly due to a backlog, and partly due to targeted screening at work places, and screening of high-risk groups.

Fact #2 : Over 2000 New Daily Cases Since January 2021

Since 1 January 2021, Malaysia has reported over 2,000 new cases every day, hitting a record 5728 cases on 30 January 2021.

Not once has it dropped anywhere close to “less than 100 daily” cases that MalaysiaFlipFlop suggested.

Fact #3 : MCO Was Extended To 18 February 2021

The MCO was extended to 18 February 2021, not 16 February as MalaysiaFlipFlop claimed.

Fact #4 : Fine For Breaking MCO Rules Only RM1,000

The fine for breaking MCO rules is only RM1,000 per offence, not RM10,000 as MalaysiaFlipFlop claimed.

COVID-19 Hot Spot Areas In KL : Hoax Debunked!

The map of COVID-19 hot spot areas in KL has gone viral on WhatsApp, but it’s really just a hoax.

Find out what happened, and what the facts really are!

COVID-19 Hot Spot Areas In KL : The Viral Map

This is the map that went viral on WhatsApp – showing 7233 cases in seven COVID-19 hot spot areas in KL :

  • Dorsett KL : 1446 cases
  • Pavilion : 1419 cases
  • Times Square : 1419 cases
  • Lot 10 : 1066 cases
  • Low Yat Plaza : 1027 cases
  • Wisma Genting : 701 cases
  • Petaling Street : 155 cases

COVID-19 Hot Spot Areas In KL : Hoax Debunked!

The map of COVID-19 hot spot areas in KL claims to be based on the MySejahtera app.

However, it is FALSE and here are the reasons why…

Reason #1 : KKM Confirms It’s False

The Malaysia Ministry of Health (KKM) confirmed that this map is false.

Reason #2 : MySejahtera Does Not Show Cases For Specific Locations

The MySejahtera app allows you to look up specific locations, but it will NOT show the case numbers for any specific location.

So it is not possible for anyone to use MySejahtera to find out that Low Yat Plaza has 1027 cases, for example.

Reason #3 : MySejahtera Shows Cases In 1 KM Radius In Past 14 Days

The MySejahtera Hot Spot tracker feature only lists the number of reported COVID-19 cases within a 1 km radius in the last 14 days.

In other words, it shows you how many COVID-19 cases were reported within a 3.14 square kilometre area over the past 14 days.

If you try it out now, you can search for Pavilion KL, and it will say,

There have been 805 reported case(s) of COVID-19 within a 1 km radius from your searched location in the last 14 days.

Did Alabama Nurse, Tiffany Dover, Die From Pfizer Vaccine?

Antivaxxers are claiming that an Alabama nurse, Tiffany Dover, died on live TV after taking the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine!

Find out what’s going on, and what the facts really are!

Updated @ 2020-12-25 : Added more fact checks, because antivaxxers continue to post fake claims about Tiffany. It’s Christmas, for crying out loud!

Originally posted @ 2020-12-23

Did Alabama Nurse, Tiffany Dover, Die From Pfizer Vaccine?

There are several versions of this story, but they basically boil down to two main storylines :

a) an unnamed Alabama nurse died on live TV after taking the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine!

COVID 19 -TEST A nurse in Alabama dies directly on the air after taking the Pfizer vaccine for Corona This is clear evidence of the danger of the vaccine, including the toxins and animal genes .. LOOK AT VEDIO CLIP!

b) a Tennessee nurse, Tiffany Dover, died after fainting on live TV (after taking the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine)

OMFG! FAINTING NURSE DIED
Tiffany Dover IS DEAD

I saw that fainting nurse died, so I checked it out!
This death record has to be her! Same town, age, and most importantly, the family listed all show up as her friends on fb!

So the nurse who took the COVID-19 vaccination on live television is now dead days after being vaccinated..

No, Tiffany Dover, Did NOT Die From Pfizer Vaccine!

The short and sweet summary is this – no nurse died after taking the Pfizer vaccine, whether on live TV or otherwise.

For the skeptics who are fond of asking, “How do you know? Were you there?”, here are the facts…

Fact #1 : No Nurse Died On Live TV In Alabama

Despite claims that an unnamed nurse died in Alabama after being injected with the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, that is not true.

The claim was shared with the video of Tiffany Dover, a nurse in Tennessee, fainting on live TV after receiving her Pfizer vaccination.

It is likely that antivaxxers intentionally switched the location from Tennessee to Alabama, to mislead those who already knew about Tiffany Dover.

Fact #2 : Tiffany Dover Is Alive And Well!

According to the NewsChannel 9 ABC crew who recorded the whole event on 17 December 2020, Tiffany Dover quickly recovered, and within minutes, was able to get up and speak with them again.

While antivaxxers are claiming that she subsequently died, those are complete lies. She did NOT die.

In fact, her hospital – CHI Memorial – posted this tweet, confirming that she is well, asking that people give her and her family privacy.

Fact #3 : Tiffany Dover Alive And Well On Video, 4 Days Later!

On 21 December 2020, CHI Memorial followed up with a short video showing that she is alive and well, surrounded by her colleagues.

To prove that it was not filmed before her vaccination and alleged “death”, they held up banners that said, “Nursing Leadership Vaccinated Together, #CHIMemorialStrong” and the date “12-21-20“.

Fact #3 : People Found The Wrong Death Record

Conspiracy theorists and antivaxxers are parading online search results showing her death record.

In fact, Kitty Lynn in this example searched for Tiffany Dover in the wrong state – Alabama. Is it any wonder she got the wrong death record?

Note : We intentionally added the HOAX overlay, to prevent it from being misleadingly shared

And this intrepid online investigator discovered that he/she was also listed on searchquarry.com.

Funnily enough, herdsheeple thought that SearchQuarry lists only dead people. It’s actually a search engine for public records in the United States.

With fantastic investigators like herdsheeple and Kitty Lynn, who needs the FBI?

Fact #4 : Tiffany Dover Is Not A Unique Name

As unique as Tiffany Dover surely is as a person, her name isn’t unique.

In the entire US, there are currently 47 Tiffany Dovers, with nine of them in Tennessee. And no, they are NOT CLONES, as some people are alleging.

And they do not include Tiffany Dovers who have actually passed away years or even decades ago.

Fact #5 : No Animal Genes In mRNA Vaccines

Some of these messages include the claim that the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine contains animal genes, that’s completely false.

There are no genes of any sort in mRNA vaccines, whether they are from Pfizer or Moderna.

The mRNA in these COVID-19 vaccines are merely RNA instructions – coding for the SARS-CoV-2 spike proteins. That’s it.

Tasuku Honjo confident US created COVID-19? Complete Bullshit

This story is such complete bullshit and appears to be a bastardised version of the original hoax which blamed China.

  • Professor Tasuku Honjo issued a statement refuting those claims.
  • Professor Tasuku Honjo does not work on viruses, and has never said that the virus is artificial.
  • Genomic analysis have proven that SARS-CoV-2 is a natural virus that is very closely-related to bat coronaviruses.
  • Multiple strains in the USA would prove that it is not the origin of COVID-19 virus.
  • The COVID-19 pandemic started in Wuhan, China… not Maryland, USA

Tasuku Honjo Confident USA Created COVID-19 : The Facts

For those who are thinking to themselves, “How do you know it’s fake? You were NOT there!“, here are the reasons why we know for sure…

Fact #1 : Viruses Can Spread In Cold + Warm Climates

While certain viruses spread easier in warmer climates, other viruses spread better in colder climates.

The susceptibility of a virus to humidity and temperature depends on whether it has a lipid bilayer envelope or not.

The COVID-19 coronavirus is enveloped, and is thus more likely to spread better in cold, dry climates. But that doesn’t mean it cannot spread well in warm, humid climates.

Fact #2 : SARS-CoV-2 Is Natural, And Related To Bat Coronaviruses

Genomic analysis have proven that the COVID-19 is natural, for these reasons :

  • an artificial virus would have to be created from existing viruses and their genetic data
  • the SARS-CoV-2 virus has components that have never been seen before
  • it is very similar to existing bat coronaviruses.

Fact #3 : Professor Honjo Does Not Work On Viruses

Tasuku Honjo is a professor of Immunology and Genomic Medicine. He has only worked on immunology, not virology.

His 2018 Nobel Prize, in particular, was for his work on stimulating the immune system to attack tumour cells in cancer.

Fact #4 : Tasuku Honjo Issued A Statement Refuting The Claim

Professor Honjo issued this statement through one of his PhD students :

Prof. Honjo never gave any such statement. Each and every sentence of this post is completely false and has no connection with truth.

Prof. Honjo never worked in Wuhan laboratory. He never called there. He did not work on virus origin and functions and other related issues.

All the contents are just concocted and nothing else.

Fact #5 : Tasuku Honjo Said COVID-19 Originated In China

In an interview with Nikkei Asian Review on 10 April 2020, Professor Tasuku Honjo said that COVID-19 originated in China, but also that it will be the first country to recover from it.

However, he never said that it was manufactured or created by China. Originating in a country, is quite different from creating it.

Fact #6 : Multiple Strains Denote A Later Time Line

Viruses mutate and create new strains over time. A novel virus like COVID-19 would start with a single strain and evolve into multiple strains as it spreads globally and mutate over time.

Hence, the very fact that there are five strains in the United States would actually refute it as the source of SARS-CoV-2 – the COVID-19 coronavirus.

In fact, by analysing the genomic changes of these strains, scientists have pretty much concluded that SARS-CoV-2 did indeed originate in China.

Fact #7 : Earliest COVID-19 Death In US Was In February 2020

The CDC did not wrongly diagnose COVID-19 deaths in the US from July to December 2019.

The earliest death from COVID-19 in the US was revised on 22 April 2020, with the diagnosis of three COVID-19 deaths in Santa Clara, California :

  • a 57 year-old woman on 6 February 2020
  • a 69 year-old man on 17 February 2020
  • a 70 year-old man on 6 March 2020

Fact #8 : Fort Detrick Was Closed Because Of Sterilisation Plant Failure

The CDC temporarily shut down the US Army lab at Fort Detrick on 2 August 2019, after finding “biosafety lapses” there.

Conspiracy theorists pounced on that as “evidence” that COVID-19 may have leaked from Fort Detrick, but a quick check would reveal that :

  • the shutdown was ordered because the lab was no longer able to decontaminate wastewater from its highest security labs.
  • the lab’s steam sterilisation plant was damaged in a flood in May 2018, and they had been using a chemical decontamination method instead.
  • no disease-causing materials were found outside authorised areas
  • if SARS-CoV-2 leaked from Fort Detrick, Maryland would have been the epicentre of the COVID-19 outbreak, not Wuhan.

Fact #9 : SARS-CoV-2 Is Just ONE Of Many Coronaviruses

Conspiracy theorists keep saying that coronavirus deaths were reported long before SARS-CoV-2 appeared in Wuhan.

But the fact of the matter is – SARS-CoV-2 is merely one of many coronaviruses in the world, including SARS and MERS!

The earliest cases of COVID-19 have so far been traced back to Wuhan, China.

Why Would Someone Create This Fake Story?

With China’s aggressive foreign policy moves in recent years, it is not uncommon to see fake pro-China, anti-America stories being created and shared.

Many believe it’s part of a concerted attempt to burnish China’s image overseas, and to drown out negative coverage of China’s controversial Belt and Road Initiative, and their aggressive moves in the South China Sea..

This COVID-19 was made in the US is also part of the narrative China has been trying to push, after US President Donald Trump blamed them for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Whatever the reasons may be, it is our duty as global citizens to stop the proliferation of such fake stories.

Please share this fact check with your friends, so they know the truth!
