Claim : Stephan Bonnar Died From Vaccine SADS!
Right after news broke that Stephan Bonnar died suddenly at work, anti-vaccination activists immediately claimed that the 45 year-old UFC Hall of Famer was a victim of COVID-19 vaccine sudden adult death syndrome (SADS)!

Truth : Stephan Bonnar Did Not Die From Vaccine SADS!
It’s now a tradition for anti-vaccination activists to immediately blame all athlete deaths or illnesses on the COVID-19 vaccine.
This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS created and propagated by anti-vaccination activists, and here are the reasons why…
Fact #1 : Stephan Bonnar Died Of A Heart Condition
Stephan Bonnar (born Stephan Patrick Bonnar on April 4, 1977) was an American mixed martial artist who was also known as The American Psycho. He was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame on July 6, 2013.
On Thursday, December 22, 2022, UFC announced that Stephan Bonnar died from “presumed heart complications while at work“. Reports claim that he died from heart failure.
At no point was it ever mentioned that Stephan Bonnar died from sudden adult death syndrome (SADS), much less any side effect of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Fact #2 : Stephan Bonnar Used Steroids + Opioids
Stephan Bonnar has a history of steroids and opioid use. Back in November 2012, he tested positive for Drostanolone – an anabolic steroid. That was his second positive test, after testing positive for another anabolic steroid – Boldenone, in 2006.
After his death, UFC middleweight Sean Strickland came out to criticise those who tried to whitewash his death, stating that Stephan Bonnar was addicted to opioids.
… the Stephan Bonnar I knew was fucking nuts. He was addicted to opioids, he got arrested, got kicked out of the hospital because they wouldn’t give him opioids, his gym went under during COVID.
Both steroid and opioid use increase risk of developing heart problems. Long-term opioid use can cause heart problems like arrhythmia, heart failure and cardiac arrest; while anabolic steroid use lead to heart failure and atherosclerosis, and increased risk of heart attacks.
Stephan Bonnar was likely dealing with heart problems stemming from his long-term use of steroids and/or opioids, so it was not a surprise to some of his compatriots that he died from heart complications.

Fact #3 : Stephan Bonnar Was Anti-Vaccine
It is hilarious to see anti-vaccination activists throw one of their own under the bus. Like Aaron Carter and Kirstie Alley, Stephan Bonnar was anti-vaccination.
In September 2021, Bonnar posted a series of (now deleted) selfie videos in which he claimed he was being denied hospital treatment because he was not vaccinated against COVID-19.
Fact #4 : Stephan Bonnar Was Not Vaccinated
As far as I can tell – Stephan Bonnar was never vaccinated against COVID-19. He publicly spoke out against the COVID-19 vaccines, and said that he was not vaccinated in September 2021.
The COVID-19 vaccine is not mandatory in the United States, despite what anti-vaccination activists may claim.
So regardless of the actual / official cause of death for Stephan Bonnar, it had nothing to do with the COVID-19 vaccines.
Fact #5 : Claims Of Athletes Injured By COVID-19 Vaccine Proven False
This is yet another example of anti-vaccination activists abusing athlete deaths / injuries to create and propagate FAKE NEWS about the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines.
So far, claims of athlete deaths / injuries due to the COVID-19 vaccine have been proven false at every instance.
