2022 Samsung Neo QLED 8K TV + Soundbar Showcase!

We were given the opportunity to view Samsung’s new 2022 Neo QLED 8K televisions, as well as the new 2022 Ultra Slim Soundbar that complements them.

The 2022 Samsung Neo QLED 8K televisions come in a variety of sizes, from 55 inches all the way to 85 inches. Take a look!

Every model is built around a new Neural Quantum Processor 8K, which has 20 independent neural AI networks, each analysing the content’s characteristics to deliver the best picture quality, regardless of the source.

It also powers a new feature called Real Depth Enhancer. Real Depth Enhancer scans each frame, and maximises the object’s contrast with the background.

The new processor also uses Shape Adaptive Light Control technology to create precise lighting and pure blacks using Samsung’s best Quantum mini LED display panel.

In fact, the 2022 Neo QLED 8K televisions are the world’s first Pantone-validated displays, which mean they will authentically reproduce more than 2000 colours, as well as 110 new skin tone shades.

These new models also use AI technology to automatically adjust the brightness and colour temperature of the display to match the room’s lighting condition.

The 2022 Neo QLED 8K televisions boast Samsung’s new Smart Hub user interface, powered by Tizen. They are also designed to provide the ultimate gaming experience through features like :

  • four HDMI 2.1 ports
  • Motion Xcelerator Turbo Pro 4K 144 Hz gaming
  • Super Ultrawite GameView, and
  • Game Bar

These televisions are also more eco-friendly, featuring eco-packaging and a more efficient SolarCell Remote that is completely battery-free, and can recharge through 2.4 GHz radio frequency harvesting – drawing power from your WiFi router’s signals!

The Neural Quantum Processor 8K also uses artificial intelligence to create a truly immersive soundscape by analysing the picture in real time, to deliver positional audio cues through the Adaptive Sound technology.

The flagship QN900B model even features a 90 watt 6.2.4 channel audio system, featuring Dolby Atmos with Object Tracking Sound Pro.

Finally, Samsung added Wireless Dolby Atmos to these models, ensuring that you can connect them to the new 2022 Ultra Slim Soundbar without using a HDMI cable!

The new Ultra Slim Soundbar delivers true 3.1.2 sound with two up-firing channels, and is now much thinner and smaller.

Did Edmonton Fireman Expose CNN Live TV As Fake News?!

Did an Edmonton fireman accidentally expose CNN faking their live TV coverage of the Russian invasion of Ukraine?!

Take a look at the viral photo, and find out what the facts really are!

Claim : Edmonton Fireman Exposed CNN Live TV As Fake News!

People are sharing screenshots of a CNN live TV report, as evidence that they are faking their coverage of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In all these screenshots, you can see a fireman wearing an Edmonton uniform.

Why is the Edmonton Fire Department in Lviv?

Truth : Edmonton Fireman Did NOT Expose CNN Live TV As Fake News!

This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS being shared on social media, and here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : The CNN Video Was Genuine

The screenshot was taken of CNN’s news report of a Russian missile strike on a fuel storage facility in Lviv, Ukraine on 26 March 2022.

Those who watched their coverage at that time, can clearly see CNN anchor Don Lemon himself standing just outside the fuel storage facility.

The missile strike was also confirmed by the Russian Ministry of Defense spokesperson, Igor Konashenkov, who said that the cruise missiles targeted fuel supplies for Ukrainian troops.

The video was definitely NOT recorded in Edmonton, Canada.

Fact #2 : Fireman Was Wearing Coat Donated By Edmonton Firefighters

The fireman in the screenshots was wearing a coat donated by firefighters in Edmonton.

The Edmonton-based non-profit organisation, called Firefighter Aid Ukraine, donated several hundred sets of Edmonton firefighter gear to Ukraine, as well as hundreds of similar sets from other communities.

Firefighter Aid Ukraine founder and project director Kevin Royle, who is an Edmonton firefighter himself, confirmed to CNN that that coat “came from our program, most definitely“.

In response to the viral fake news, Firefighter Aid Ukraine posted their Facebook post from 15 September 2017, which showed them donating bunker gear including a coat with the Edmonton logo.

Sharing this post from 2017 when we were distributing donated bunker gear in Lviv. See the “Edmonton” on the back of the jacket? There is no conspiracy. Our firefighter friends and colleagues are in harms way and we will continue to support them. If you or your department have any helmets, boots, bunker gear, etc to donate please reach out to us. The need is greater than ever. #ffaidukraine #ukraine #standwithukraine #fire #firefighter #ukrainefire

Fact #3 : Edmonton Fire Chief Confirmed Donated Gear

Edmonton Fire Chief Joe Zatylny confirmed on 28 March 2022, that the Ukrainian firefighters were wearing Edmonton bunker jackets donated through Firefighter Aid Ukraine.

By now, most of you would have seen the CNN footage of one of our Edmonton bunker jackets in Lviv, Ukraine.

I am grateful to many of our many EFRS members who volunteer for Firefighter Aid Ukraine and Kevin Royle, who has organized the donations of gear to Ukraine since 2016!

Firefighters help those in need and this is a perfect example. Our thoughts and safe wishes continue to be with our brothers and sisters in Ukraine as they continue to help and save their communities.

Now that you know the facts, please help us FIGHT FAKE NEWS by SHARING this fact check out!

2021 Samsung TV First Look : What Could They Reveal?

Samsung is slated to reveal their 2021 range of TV models at CES, but ahead of that, they are going to give everyone a sneak peek of sorts!

Could it be MicroLED (again)? Or Quantum Dot OLED (QD-OLED)? Tell us what YOU think!

2021 Samsung TV First Look : What Could They Reveal?

Samsung is slated to launch their 2021 range of TV models at CES 2021, with a press conference at 9 AM on 11 January 2021.

However, it looks like they will give us all a sneak peek of their new VD (Visual Display) technology on 7 January 2021 at 12 AM (GMT+8) here in Malaysia.

The global unveiling will be streamed online at the official Samsung website.

2021 Samsung TV First Look : MicroLED or QD Display?

Although Samsung isn’t telling us what they will showcase in the 7 January 2021 First Look, we believe it will be their MicroLED TV technology.

It first debuted in the 2019 The Wall – which won the 2019 Display of the Year Award. But this is a freaking expensive TV that is virtually a technology demo with a very niche market.

We believe that Samsung will “unveil” MicroLED as the new mainstream display technology for home entertainment enthusiasts to aspire to.

Unlike current LED TVs, a MicroLED TV will have a panel that uses microscopic LEDs as display pixels. This would allow for phenomenally high brightness and infinite contrast, with very wide colour gamut.

Samsung also claims that their new MicroLED technology can last for up to 100,000 hours.

They actually launched a new 110-inch MicroLED TV in South Korean on 10 December 2020, which they plan to launch globally in Q1 2021.

Priced at KRW 170 million (about US$157,000 / £115,000 / RM629,000), it has a 4K resolution with a built-in Majestic Sound System and a 5.1-channel speaker system.

On the other hand, Samsung may be unveiling their QD-OLED display – a hybrid of OLED and Quantum Dots, which they plan to start producing this year.

Samsung Display will invest 13.1 trillion won by 2025 to build “Q1 Line,” the world’s first QD display mass production line at Asan Campus. The new line is scheduled to start production in 2021 with an initial 30,000 sheets (8.5 generations) and will produce a huge QD display of 65 inches or larger.

This QD-OLED hybrid display would deliver higher brightness and wider colour gamuts, with incredible contrast ratios.

Best of all – it will be easier to manufacture, which means lower production costs, and lower prices for consumers.

On the other hand, Samsung is only kicking off QD-OLED manufacturing this year… which means this may not be ready for primetime yet.

So what do YOU think? Will Samsung be unveiling MicroLED or QD-OLED on 7 January 2021?

Find out what it means to have an ATSC 3.0 / NEXTGEN TV tuner built into your TV!

2020 Samsung QLED 8K TVs Are NEXTGEN TV Ready!

When Samsung unveiled their monstrous 2020 QLED 8K Q950 TV, they also shared that ALL 2020 Samsung LED 8K TV models will come with a built-in ATSC 3.0 tuner, making them NEXTGEN TV ready!

NEXTGEN TV is the marketing name for the ATSC 3.0 (Advanced Television Systems Committee 3.0) standard that will go on air this year in at least 61 markets.

One of the key benefits NEXTGEN TV offers over the current ATSC 1.0 standard is its ability to receive and playback content in up to 4K resolution, rather than just Full HD.

2020 Samsung QLED 8K Q950 TV : First Look!

At CES 2020, Samsung peeled away the covers, and unveiled the 2020 Samsung QLED 8K Q950 TV!

Let’s find out what’s new in Samsung’s next-generation QLED 8K TV!

2020 Samsung QLED 8K Q950 TV

The 2020 Samsung QLED 8K Q950 TV is the first television in the world to feature surround sound audio, an incredible 8K resolution, and an ultra-thin form factor.

Ultra-Thin Design

Samsung almost entirely eliminated the bezels around the Q950’s display, creating an incredible screen-to- body ratio of nearly 99 percent.

When viewed from ten to fifteen feet (3 to 5 meters) away, you will experience what Samsung calls the Infinity Screen effect – where the bezels seem to disappear!

The Q950 is also extremely thin – only 15 millimetres across the entire display. You can lay it flush against the wall, or mount it on a media stand.

Certified 8K Resolution

The 2020 Samsung QLED 8K Q950 TV is certified to meet the requirements of both the 8K Association’s Certified Test Specifications, as well as the CTA 8K Ultra HD Display Definition.

It will be able to playback native 8K content, letting consumers stream AV1 codec videos filmed in 8K. But for lower resolution content, the Q950’s Quantum Processor 8K has improved AI upscaling capabilities that uses machine learning to create 8K images from lower resolution sources.

Optimal Picture Quality

The Q950’s Adaptive Picture feature uses light sensors and AI to analyse the ambient light and distribution of light in a particular scene, so it can ensure that the TV can maintain a clear picture with great contrast even in bright rooms, or with glare from a light source.

Because a significant amount of content we consume these days are through streaming on the Internet, it comes with AI ScaleNet that compresses content as it leaves the content provider, restoring it on reaching the TV. This effectively cuts down by half the bandwidth required for any streaming content.

Of course, AI ScaleNet requires the content provider to support such a feature. Samsung is currently working with Amazon on this feature, with plans to use it for Prime Video content, from standard definition to 4K.

NEXTGEN TV Ready!

The Q950 will come with a built-in ATSC 3.0 tuner, making it NEXTGEN TV ready! It will be ready to receive and display 4K content once NEXTGEN TV networks come online later this year!

Immersive Audio Experience

As Samsung’s flagship QLED 8K TV, the Q950 comes with the best audio solution Samsung engineers can come up with.

It has speakers on every side of the display, with subwoofers in the back, delivering 5.1 channel surround sound. But its immersive audio experience goes beyond the hardware.

The Q950 uses Object Tracking Sound+, an AI-based technology to match the audio with the movement of objects on the screen. Its Active Voice Amplifier (AVA) technology adjusts the volume of dialogue in response to common sounds like a blender or vacuum cleaner.

Finally, the Q950 can use its built-in speakers as an additional audio channel, when paired with a 2020 Q Series soundbar, like the Q800. Its Q-Symphony feature will pair the audio from both devices to create a dynamic and multi-dimensional soundscape.

Connected Family Hub

The 2020 Samsung QLED 8K Q950 TV comes with access to Samsung TV Plus – their free smart TV video service, with nearly 100 channels, including CBSN, Yahoo Finance, Lively Place, Bon Appétit, VEVO, Outside TV+, etc.

It also comes with Samsung Health on TV built-in. This will let your family members see their fitness activities, track their progress, and pursue fitness goals. They will also have access to free, exclusive content from Samsung fitness partners like Calm, FitPlan, Jillian Michaels, Echelon, Obe Fitness and Barre 3.

Four 2019 Sony TV Technologies Explained + Demonstrated!

At the recent 2019 Sony BRAVIA OLED + LED TV Showcase, Sony explained and demonstrated four new 2019 Sony TV technologies, as well as a new 2-way stand for the Sony BRAVIA A8G OLED TV.

Let’s take a look at those four new 2019 Sony TV technologies, and find out how they will impact your viewing experience!

The Four 2019 Sony TV Technologies Explained + Demonstrated!

Let’s take a look at the four 2019 Sony TV technologies that are being introduced in their latest range of OLED and LED TVs.

Acoustic Surface Audio+

The Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology will debut in their latest BRAVIA A9G 4K HDR OLED TV. In addition to two actuators vibrating the TV panel to create sound, it uses two subwoofers to add bass, and a spatial effect.

Together, they deliver a multi-dimensional soundscape that envelopes you, the viewer, for a more immersive viewing experience.

Acoustic Surface Audio+ also introduces a TV Center Speaker Mode, which turns the A9G‘s display into a giant centre speaker, to complement your external speaker setup. This will allow for greater clarity of dialogue, vocals and instruments in any movie or performance you watch.

Pixel Contrast Booster

Pixel Contrast Booster is designed to maximise the OLED panel’s contrast throughout the colour spectrum (instead of just grey tones).

It accomplishes this by analysing each frame and applying the suitable signal enhancements, with feedback from the panel.

X-Motion Clarity

X-Motion Clarity keeps objects looking sharp, bright and clear, even in motion. Each ‘backlight blink’ is individually controlled and its duration optimised, while brightness is boosted when needed.

This is made possible by the 2019 Sony TV range’s full array backlight system, with local dimming capability.

X-Wide Angle

X-Wide Angle is designed to make sure the brightness and colour of an image remain the same at any viewing angle, so that everyone has the best view, no matter how they are positioned in relation to the TV.

Sony accomplished this by optimising the optical panel structure and signal processing to control the direction of light emitted by the backlight.

Extra : New BRAVIA A8G 2-Way Stand

The new Sony BRAVIA A8G features a new 2-way stand design, which can be inverted to support the placement of a sound bar! Check it out!

Picture Processor X1 Ultimate

Picture Processor X1 Ultimate is a new, faster processor that adds Object-based Super Resolution to the features of the previous-generation 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme. It can detect hundreds of different objects on screen and intelligently enhances brightness, detail and colour.

Acoustic Surface Audio+

The Sony BRAVIA A9G has two actuators that vibrate the panel to create the audio output. Together with its two powerful subwoofers, it can create a multi-dimensional soundscape.

Object-based HDR Remaster

Object-based HDR Remaster analyses the colour of individual objects and dynamically adjusts the contrast. This is superior to the usual method of adjusting along a black-to-white contrast curve.

Super Bit Mapping HDR

Super Bit Mapping HDR reveals brings out the gradations of the light in a picture, creating a smooth, natural image without the “banding” that can occur in other TVs.

Dual Database Processing

The Sony BRAVIA A9G has two image improvement databases, with thousands of references. One database is used to clean the picture and reduce on-screen noise. The other database is used to upscale the resolution to improve clarity.

Motionflow XR

The Motionflow XR technology creates and inserts extra frames between the original ones. It compares key visual factors on successive frames, then calculates the split second of missing action in the sequences.

The 2019 LG TVs Will Feature Alpha 9 Gen 2 + ThinkQ AI!

LG is taking the home entertainment experience to new heights with its new 2019 TVs that will feature ThinQ AI and Alpha 9 Gen 2. Find out what the new LG ThinQ AI and Alpha 9 Gen 2 technologies are all about!

LG Alpha 9 Gen 2 Processor

The new 2019 LG Z9, W9, E9 and C9 TV models are powered by their new Alpha 9 Gen 2 (α9 Gen 2) intelligent processor. Using deep learning algorithms, the new processor delivers a higher level of AI picture and sound experience quality.

The new machine learning algorithms in the 2019 LG TVs offer enhanced picture and sound by analysing the content source in order to recognize the ambient conditions around the TV to deliver more optimized content.

The new processor finely adjusts the tone mapping curve in accordance with ambient conditions to offer optimized screen brightness, leveraging its ability to understand how the human eye perceives images in different lighting. The processor uses the TV’s ambient light sensor to measure light levels, automatically adjusting brightness to compensate as needed.

The α9 Gen 2 AI can further refine HDR content by adjusting the brightness to transform even the darkest scenes into ones with incredible contrast, detail and depth of color, even in brightly-lit rooms. And by leveraging Dolby’s latest imaging innovation which intelligently adjusts Dolby Vision content, LG TVs deliver a better HDR experience under varying ambient light.

Amazon Alexa + Google Assistant Support

The 2019 LG TV range will support Amazon Alexa in addition to the built-in Google Assistant. This allows you to enjoy the ease of conversational voice recognition and an intuitive Home Dashboard to control a wide variety of smart home devices directly from the TV.

By pressing the Amazon Prime Video button on the Magic Remote, users can manage smart home devices, ask questions and access tens of thousands of skills and even set up their ideal Alexa Routine complete with wake-up call, traffic information and favorite TV channel switching all with their voice.

Virtual 5.1 Surround Sound

Sound quality is augmented by an intelligent algorithm that can up-mix two-channel audio to deliver convincing virtual 5.1 surround sound.

The α9 Gen 2 optimizes output based on content type, making voices clearer in movies, dramas and news broadcasts, among others.

Users can adjust sound settings to suit room conditions or let their LG TV intelligently set the perfect levels based on its positioning.

2019 LG NanoCell TV

The 2019 LG premium LCD TVs lineup – SM9X and SM8X series – will be rolled out with a new name: NanoCell TV, to better highlight the features provided by NanoCell technology :

  • NanoColor : picture enhancement
  • NanoAccuracy : color accuracy in wide viewing angle
  • NanoBezel : ultra-narrow thin bezel with sleek design

And through the inclusion of HDMI 2.1 ports, all 2019 OLED TVs and selected NanoCell TVs with ThinQ AI will support high frame rate (HFR). The result is smoother and clearer motion at 120 frames per second for better rendering of fast-action content such as sports and action movies.

Support for enhanced audio return channel (eARC) will enable home theatre enthusiasts to seamlessly utilise HDMI connectivity and enjoy the highest quality audio formats available with superb detail and depth.

The new TVs are compatible with variable refresh rate (VRR) as well as automatic low latency mode (ALLM) which helps deliver a clean image, without stutter or tearing.

How 2019 Samsung Smart TVs Will Change How We Interact With Our TV

The 2019 Samsung Smart TVs, announced at CES 2019, promises to change how we interact with our TV.

Let’s take a look at the 3 key developments that the 2019 Samsung Smart TVs will introduce, and change the way you think about content and connectivity.

1. More Content With Apple Partnership

In March 2019, Samsung’s landmark partnership with Apple will come into effect. It will allow iOS devices like iPhone and iPad to stream directly to the 2019 Samsung Smart TVs using Airplay 2, without the need for Apple TV or additional connections.

In addition, Samsung customers in over 100 countries will have exclusive access to the new Apple iTunes Movies and TV Shows app on Samsung Smart TVs, when it is launched.

2. New Bixby For 2019 Samsung Smart TVs

The 2019 Samsung Smart TVs will come with a New Bixby AI assistant, that will learn about your preferences from each interaction. This will allow the new Bixby to make informed suggestions about what to watch.

The improved Bixby assistant will cover a wider range, and can hear voices from a greater distance. As such, there is no longer a need to press the speaker button on your remote control to talk to Bixby.

3. Seamless Connectivity At Home

The 2019 Samsung Smart TVs will also act as connectivity hubs for your home. You will be able to control connected devices around your home with the SmartThings dashboard.

You can also create automated tasks to trigger certain actions when certain conditions are met. For example, you can set your air-conditioner in a room to automatically turn itself off whenever windows are kept open for a period of time.

The 2019 Samsung Smart TVs will also let you remotely control and access your PCs, laptops, smartphones and tablets, using Remote Access. They can also interact seamlessly with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

Bezel-less Samsung Micro LED Displays Revealed!

At CES 2019, Samsung revealed their new Micro LED technology, which were introduced in a new 75-inch TV display, a 219-inch The Wall, and even a modular Micro LED display!

The New Samsung Micro LED TV Displays

The new Samsung Micro LED panels are built from microscopic inorganic LED chips that individually emit red, green and blue light. This allows them to deliver a new level of picture quality.

219-inch The Wall

The Micro LED technology was first introduced at CES 2018, in the 146-inch The Wall model. This year, Samsung showcase a whopping 219-inch The Wall model!

75-inch 4K Micro LED TV

In addition, by narrowing the gap between the microscopic LED chips, they were able to create a 75-inch 4K Micro LED TV!

Modular Micro LED Display

Thanks to the modular nature of Micro LED, users can expand their display to any size they desire, even irregular 9×3, 1×7 or 5×1 screen sizes.

The Samsung Micro LED technology also optimises the content no matter the size and shape of the screen. Even when adding more modules, Samsung Micro LED displays can scale to increase the resolution — all while keeping the pixel density constant.

Additionally, Micro LED can support everything from the standard 16:9 content, to 21:9 widescreen films, to unconventional aspect ratios like 32:9, or even 1:1 – without having to make any compromises in its picture quality.

Finally, because Micro LED displays are bezel-free, there are no borders between modules – even when you add more. The result is a seamless, infinity pool effect that allows the display to blend into any environment.

The 2018 Samsung QLED TV Range Revealed!

Announced in March at New York, the 2018 Samsung QLED TV range is finally being introduced! Let’s take a look at the 2018 Samsung QLED TV technologies, prices and availability!

The 2018 Samsung QLED TV Technologies

Consumers are always after larger screens, better image quality and hassle-free installations. But to top it off – the new consumer trend includes AI-based technologies, and smartphone connectivity. The 2018 Samsung QLED TV range attempts to address those demands.

Samsung Q Picture Technology

The 2018 Samsung QLED TV range features the new Direct Full Array which uses a panel with zones of smartly controlled backlighting that adjust automatically to deliver deep blacks and pure whites. This reduces blooming and halo effects, and enables deeper contrast, with inky blacks and brilliant whites.

Advanced Anti-Reflection technology ensures that the 2018 Samsung TVs’ spectacular picture quality can be enjoyed from almost any angle, and also helps boost contrast. Aligned with the new products, which include models wider than 55 inches, Q Engine technology automatically upscales on-screen content to UHD levels to further enhance viewers’ immersion.

Samsung Q Style Technology

Samsung’s 2018 QLED TV range will come with Magic Screen – an energy-saving function that allows the TV to elegantly display images, as well as real-time information such as the weather or news. For wall-mounted TVs, Magic Screen can mimic the pattern on the wall behind the TV to create an astonishing visual effect in which the TV blends seamlessly into the wall.

Samsung has lso introduced a simple solution to eliminate cable clutter – the One Invisible Connection, which integrates power cables and data lines that were previously separated – into a single thin cable. Available up to 15 meters, it frees consumers from having to place their TV near data or power outlets.

Samsung Q Smart Technology

The 2018 Samsung QLED TVs are designed to seamlessly connect with SmartThings-compatible devices to offer users even greater control over their home’s smart technology. In addition, users can access a variety of apps on the QLED TVs that they can enjoy at any time through one intuitive menu.

In a glamorous event at the Star Residences Show Gallery, Samsung Malaysia unveiled The Frame. This is a new lifestyle-focused TV that is designed to beautify the room like a work of art. It literally transforms into a digital art display to complement the aesthetics of the room.

The Frame TV by Samsung

The Frame is a fully-functional 4K LCD TV, but instead of fading to black once you turn it off, it transforms into a work of art. Its Art Mode feature allows you to display 100 exclusive works of art by 37 renowned designers, or family photos – all controlled through a smartphone app.

The Frame is equipped with a brightness sensor that allows it to adapt to the changing levels of natural light in the room. It also has a motion sensor that turns off the display completely whenever the room is empty. This allows it to save electricity, while ensuring that the art work is always displayed whenever someone is in the room.

To ensure that The Frame matches the ambience and décor of any living space, it has a magnetic frame that can be customised with Walnut, Beige wood and White finishes. It also boasts the Samsung No Gap wall mount, which allows it to be installed flush against the wall. Thanks to its Invisible Connection design, it can be mounted like a painting, without messy cables.

Price & Availability

The Frame from Samsung is available in 65″ and 55″ options. They will officially make its debut in Malaysia on 15 August 2017 at the following recommended retail prices:

The LG OLED TV Discussion – Evolution of TV Technology

We were recently invited to the LG OLED TV discussion panel on the evolution of TV display technology. Hosted by Jeff Sandhu from BFM Radio, it featured Malaysian digital filmmaker James Lee, and Professor Dr. Ahmad Sabirin, from Universiti Technologi Mara (UiTM).

In this article, you will learn from Professor Dr. Ahmad Sabirin about the evolution of TV display technology, while James Lee reveals how the new display technologies, like LG OLED, allows him to better convey his artistic vision to his audiences. This panel discussion is a must-watch if you are looking to buy a new TV but can’t differentiate OLED from QLED, quantum dot, LCD and even plasma TV.

The LG OLED TV Discussion – Evolution of TV Technology

In this LG OLED TV discussion panel, Malaysian digital filmmaker James Lee, and Professor Dr. Ahmad Sabirin, from Universiti Technologi Mara (UiTM). will shed light on the following topics :

  • Understanding the science behind TV displays, and their evolution through history
  • Behind the scenes in film production: Coping with consumer demands and content display technology
  • The creation of organic light-emitting display (OLED) from a history of LEDs and LCDs

During the early 2000s, flat panel TV displays consisted mostly of LCD or LED display technologies which make use of a backlight to illuminate the images. The backlight not only increases the thickness of the display panel, they also consume a significant amount of power. The use of a backlight also introduces issues like light bleeding from the edges, and the inability to create truly deep blacks.

Today, there is a new generation of display panels called OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) displays. These OLED display panel uses thin films of self-lighting organic molecules that switches on and off. This enables the delivery of Perfect Black, allowing for a much improved contrast ratio, sharper images and more vibrant colours.

The 2017 Samsung QLED TV Range Arrives In Malaysia!

You had earlier read about the latest Samsung QLED TV technology, and seen our Samsung Forum 2017 coverage. Now, the 2017 Samsung QLED TV range has finally arrived in Malaysia! Join us as we look at what went on during the launch event, and check out the price and features of the new Samsung QLED TV models!

What Is Samsung QLED TV & Why Is It Better Than OLED TV?

Jason Foo, Head of Samsung Malaysia’s AV Business Unit, explains all that in this presentation. Be sure to also check out The Samsung QLED TV Technology Explained, for more information on the new Samsung QLED technology!

Q Picture: All Shades of Colour Brought to Life

The QLED TV is the first in the world that are capable of reproducing 100% colour volume. The Samsung QLED TV can reproduce even the subtlest differences in colour, delivering the truest HDR picture quality.

Thanks to the new metal alloy of Quantum dot material in the Samsung’s QLED TV, it expresses deep blacks and rich detail no matter how light or dark the scene is, or whether the content is being played in a brightly lit or darkened room.

Q Smart: Manage All Devices and Content with Just One Remote Control

Using the One Remote Control, the Samsung QLED TV simplifies the viewing experience by removing the need for multiple remote controls. Its auto detection capabilities automatically toggle between the devices for you so you don’t need to do the guesswork and only focus on one thing, fun.

The One Remote Control is enhanced with voice control and an intuitive design with just a few buttons the allow users to quickly and comfortably access essential television functions and contents.

Q Design: Style Living Spaces Your Way

Samsung has designed the brand new QLED TV to be slimmer and clean that blends well into user’s living room. The Samsung QLED TV keeps your media space organized with a single, practically invisible optical cable that connects the television to the One Connect Box, creating a clean aesthetic on all sides of the device. With the nearly-invisible optical cable, the first thing you see is the TV, not a clutter of devices and wires underneath.

The QLED TV also has a no-gap wall mount that minimises the space between the TV and the wall. Once it’s installed, you get a clean, minimal, and uncluttered TV view. For those who do not wish to mount their TV onto the wall, Samsung offers the Studio Stand and the Gravity Stand.

Sony BRAVIA 4K HDR TVs Launched

On the 14th of April, Sony introduced their new BRAVIA 4K HDR TV series, with screen sizes of 55″ to 65″. The new Sony BRAVIA 4K HDR television series is designed to deliver a greater brightness range and higher contrast, making the best use of 4K HDR (High Dynamic Range) content with its unique backlighting technologies in a slim design.

Sony BRAVIA 4K HDR Experience With X93D & X85 Series

HDR is a burgeoning video standard that greatly expands the range of possible visual expression by reproducing higher brightness, higher contrast and more vibrant colors. HDR compatible content and services are expected to become more and more prevalent via Internet video services, TV broadcastings and Ultra HD Blu-ray titles.

The X93D series takes picture quality to new heights by delivering the best quality from HDR content. Sony’s new Slim Backlight Drive technology with a new grid-array backlighting structure, which was previously only available with full-array backlighting systems, allows X-tended Dynamic Range PRO technology to boost peak brightness and black levels more precisely and enhance contrast levels, while maintaining a slim form factor.

The 4K Processor X1 and its precision color mapping technology allows TRILUMINOS Display to reproduce a wider color range with accurate color details at any brightness level. The X1 also improves the streaming quality of 4K HDR images provided by Internet video services, such as Netflix. But the viewing experience goes beyond just the screen. A television should be great to look at in any environment.

When hung against a wall, the X93D series sits close to the wall and virtually disappears into it, leaving behind nothing but the picture itself. When the television is set on a TV rack or a cabinet, its clean cable management keeps wires out of view and looks equally elegant when viewed from behind.

This year, Sony is focusing on integrating BRAVIA TVs into the living room setting, with the notion of creating a smart living ecosystem that gives users the freedom to utilize a variety of Sony products with the TVs – by means of enhancing viewer experience.

The X93D and other 4K HDR TVs already bring stunning picture quality to whatever you’re watching but with the addition of these Sony products, ranging from digital cameras to audio systems, consumers and professionals are able to take their experiences to a whole new level – experiencing stunning still images and videos on a larger screen, thanks to sharper 4K HDR clarity, along with surround, sound enhancements to bring movies and music to life.
