Location

The Free Galaxy Ride offer is only available at the Samsung Experience Store at The Exchange TRX Mall, from 10 AM to 10 PM daily.

Availability

The Free Galaxy Ride offer is only valid for the first 5,000 Samsung Galaxy users on a first come, first serve basis, from 29 February until 17 March 2024.

Eligibility

The Free Galaxy Ride offer is only applicable to Samsung Members who are Malaysian citizens, and residents of Malaysia, who are 18 years and above (as of 29 February 2024), based on the Malaysian MyKad or passport.

This offer is not applicable to Samsung employees, dealers, or agents, or their families, as well as anyone connected to this Promotion.

How To Get Free RM5 TNG Credit

Please follow these steps to get your free RM5 TNG credit through the Samsung Free Galaxy Ride offer.

Step 1 : Visit the Samsung Experience Store at TRX Mall, and look for the Free Galaxy Ride crew.

Step 2 : Comment “I want a Free Galaxy Ride” with the hashtags #GalaxyAI and #GalaxyS24 on this Galaxy Free Ride Facebook post.

Step 3 : Scan the QR code provided by the Samsung crew to redeem a voucher on your Samsung Members app.

Step 4 : Download the redemption voucher from your Samsung Members app, and present it to the event crew.

Step 5 : You will receive a RM5 TNG reload code, which you can then use to top up your TNG eWallet.

Please note that each Samsung Galaxy user is only entitled to one (1) redemption.

Touch ‘n Go eWallet To Charge 1% Fee For Credit Card Reloads!

TNG Digital just announced a 1% fee for all credit card reloads to the Touch ‘n Go eWallet, from 24 February 2024 onwards!

Touch ‘n Go eWallet users will have to switch to DuitNow Transfer, and debit card, for their reloads.

TNG Digital say that it made this move to reduce the high cost of credit card reloads that it has been subsidising all this while, and to curb the cashing out of the credit card reloads to bank accounts.

This move is to curb excessive cashing out of credit card balance to bank accounts and offset the heavy cost of credit card reloads which TNGD has been subsidising since its inception.

Users are encouraged to use bank transfers via DuitNow which has exactly the same process as fund transfer among bank accounts.

TNG Digital had earlier reduced the amount of credit card reloads that Touch ‘n Go eWallet users can transfer to their bank accounts. In March 2023, it reduced the amount of transferable credit card reloads to RM1,000 per month.

Upon exceeding that RM1,000 limit, users can choose to further use their credit cards for reloads with a 1% fee. The new February 2024 policy basically removes the free credit card reload for the first RM1,000.

How To Avoid 1% Fee On Touch ‘n Go eWallet Reloads

From 24 February 2024 onwards, the only ways to get free reloads on the Touch ‘n Go eWallet is to use DuitNow Transfer, or your debit card.

Reloading using your debit card is no different from using your credit card, so it should be easy for you to simply switch to your debit card.

Transferring using DuitNow Transfer is, unfortunately, not so straightforward with the Touch ‘n Go eWallet. For those who are not familiar with using DuitNow Transfer, here’s a quick guide:

Look For Your DuitNow Account Number

Step 1 : Open and log into your Touch ‘n Go eWallet.

Step 2 : Click on the Profile button at the upper right corner of the screen.

Step 3 : Under your name, you will see your 12-digit DuitNow account number. Write it down, or click on the copy button to copy it.

Reload Using Your DuitNow Account Number

Step 1 : Log into your preferred bank’s app or website.

Step 2 : Select the Transfers option.

Step 3 : Select the Transfer to other banks option.

Step 4 : Select Touch ‘n Go eWallet or DuitNow Transfer option.

Step 5 : Key in your Touch ‘n Go eWallet DuitNow account number.

Step 6 : Key in the amount you want to transfer, and click the Next or Transfer.

Step 7 : In the transfer summary page, verify the details and click Proceed. If you wish, you can also select “Add as Favourite” to make it easier to transfer more funds in the future.

As you can see, the DuitNow Transfer isn’t as user-friendly as using the credit card, which could put off many users. So a better alternative might be to use your debit card instead. Even so, I foresee many people switch to alternative e-wallets for payments.

6.5 Million Malaysians Received Free RM100 eMADANI Credit!

On 27 July 2023, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that the Malaysian government will give a special, one-off RM100 eWallet credit under the eMADANI programme.

The eMADANI programme kicked off on 4 December 2023, giving 10 million Malaysian citizens the opportunity to receive the RM100 eWallet credit.

As of Wednesday, 6 December 2023, some 6.5 million people have had their eMADANI applications approved. According to the Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, another 1.8 million eMADANI applications are being processed.

Why Your eMADANI Application May Be Rejected!

First, it is important to find out why your eMADANI application may be rejected.

You May Not Qualify

The eMADANI programme is limited to some 10 million Malaysian citizens, who meet these requirements:

  • you must be a Malaysian citizen who is 21 years or older, as of 1 January 2023
  • you received the Rahmah Cash Assistance (Sumbangan Tuna Rahmah) as of 7 November 2023,
    OR
    you have an annual income of RM100,000 or less, based on LHDN records as of 15 July 2023

Those who do not meet those qualifications won’t be able to receive the free RM100 eWallet credit.

You Received eBeliaRahmah

Those who received the eBeliaRahmah assistance earlier are automatically disqualified for the eMADANI programme, because they have already received eWallet cash to promote the use of cashless payments amongst the youth.

You Did Not Submit Your Tax Return

Unfortunately, the eMADANI programme is using your LHDN tax return for the 2022 assessment year to determine your income level, if you are not receiving the Rahmah Cash Assistance.

People who did not file a 2022 tax return will, unfortunately, not qualify for the free RM100 eWallet credit, even if they earned too little to require filing taxes with LHDN.

How To Appeal Rejected eMADANI Application!

After applying for eMADANI, your application will be approved and rejected within 1-5 days. Unfortunately, if your application is rejected, the notification will not tell you WHY it was rejected.

The good news is – there is a dispute process. Sort of.

The first thing you can try is to reach out to the eWallet service provider you registered with, to find out why your application was rejected.

It is possible that you may need to submit additional information, or documents, like a copy of your identification card for verification.

If you are using the Shopee app, you can raise a dispute with their customer service.

  • Select eMadani Claimants as your user type.
  • Select “eMadani Unable to claim“
  • Fill in your personal details.
  • Upload any necessary photos or screenshots.

eMADANI : 10 Million Malaysian Citizens To Get Free RM100!

On 27 July 2023, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced that the Malaysian government will give a special, one-off RM100 eWallet credit.

On Wednesday, 29 November 2023, the government announced that the eMADANI programme will benefit some 10 million Malaysian citizens and 2 million businesses, with a total budget of RM 1 billion.

The eMADANI programme is a new initiative that is designed to stimulate the micro, small and medium enterprises (PMKS), as well as promote cashless payments, and alleviate inflationary pressures on the rakyat.

From 4 December 2023 until 20 February 2024, eligible Malaysians can register and receive RM100 in one of these four eWallets:

  • MAE
  • Setel
  • ShopeePay, and
  • Touch ‘n Go eWallet

Please note that these four eWallet providers will also be offering additional incentives in the form of vouchers, cashbacks, discounts, reward points, and coins. So be sure to “shop around” for the best offers, before deciding on which eWallet to use!

eWallet May Be Blocked If eMADANI Credit Is Transferred!

On Monday, 4 December 2023, the Malaysia Ministry of Finance issued a statement warning that your eWallet may be blocked if you attempt to transfer your free RM100 eMADANI credit out!

This is partly because the eMADANI programme is meant to promote the digital economy, and the use of cashless payments in Malaysia.

The RM100 eWallet credit must be spent physically in retail stores and businesses using the the eWallet of your choice, except:

  • peer-to-peer transfers
  • cash redemptions
  • bill payments through the eWallet
  • government fee payments through the eWallet
  • telco postpaid payments and prepaid reloads through the eWallet
  • game payments through the eWallet
  • parking and toll payments
  • investment activities through the eWallet
  • e-commerce or online transactions

On top of that, the Ministry is aware of online scams offering “cash out” services to people. To avoid people being tricked into transferring their eMADANI credit out, the Malaysian government may order the blocking of eWallet accounts used in such activities, as well as the eMADANI credit involved.

So please make sure you do not transfer your RM100 eMADANI credit out of your eWallet. Do not fall for scams offering you the option to “cash out” the money. Instead, use the eMADANI credit to purchase at retail stores.

Who Qualifies For eMADANI RM100 Free Credit?

The eMADANI programme, and the free RM100 eWallet credit, is open to Malaysian citizens who are 21 years and older as of 1 January 2023; and have either:

The government estimates that 10 million Malaysians will qualify for the eMADANI free RM100 eWallet credit.

When Can You Redeem The RM100 eWallet Credit?

Those who qualify for the RM100 eWallet credit will be able to redeem it through selected eWallets (see below) from 8 AM on 4 December 2023 until 11:59 PM on 20 February 2024.

Which eWallets Do You Need?

You will need one of these four eWallets to receive the free RM100 credit through the eMADANI programme:

  • MAE
  • Setel
  • ShopeePay, and
  • Touch ‘n Go eWallet

How Do You Get The Free RM100 eWallet Credit?

To obtain the free RM100 eWallet credit, follow these steps:

  1. Download the eWallet of your choice (from the list of four above) from the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or HUAWEI AppGallery.
  2. If you have not registered and verified your eWallet account, please do so first.
  3. In the eWallet of your choice, tap on the eMADANI redemption link.
  4. Key in the required information in the eMADANI redemption page, and tap on the Send button.
  5. You will be informed if your application is successful.

If successful, the RM100 will be credited into the eWallet, and you can use the money immediately.

Please note that you can only redeem the RM100 eWallet credit from one eWallet provider.

Where Can You Spend The RM100?

The RM100 eWallet credit must be spent physically in retail stores and businesses using the the eWallet of your choice, except:

This warning about an RFID bar code scam has gone viral on WhatsApp, and social media, claiming that scammers are sending people free TNG RFID stickers, and asking them to scan the bar code.

Allegedly, scanning the TNG RFID bar code will cause your phone to be hacked by these scammers!

Truth : Scanning TNG RFID Bar Code Will NOT Hack Your Phone!

This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS circulating on WhatsApp and social media, and here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : TNG RFID Bar Code Cannot Hack Your Phone

First of all – let me just say that the TNG RFID bar code cannot hack your phone. In fact, no one can hack your phone just because you scan an RFID bar code.

The bar code is nothing more than a series of numbers, which you can readily see printed under the bar code. These numbers cannot possibly hack your phone / smartphone.

Fact #2 : TNG Bar Code Is Used To Register RFID Sticker

The bar code visible in the clear window of the TNG RFID self-fitment kit is merely the serial number for the RFID sticker (also known as an RFID tag).

This serial number is used to register the RFID sticker, by scanning scan the bar code using the TNG eWallet mobile app. All it does is link the RFID sticker to your TNG eWallet account, so that all toll charges are automatically deducted from that account.

Fact #3 : TNG RFID Swapping Can Be Easily Detected

One of our readers suggested that the scammer might have swapped out the bar code, to trick you into registering a different TNG RFID sticker owned by the scammer.

This would allow the scammer to use his/her TNG RFID sticker to go through highway tolls for free, while you would be charged for his/her travels.

While that is plausible, it would be quickly detected by the victim who would not be able to use the RFID sticker to get through the toll. The victim would also be able to detect the illegal charges to his/her TNG eWallet account.

Fact #4 : TNG RFID Is Unique To Each Chip

One of our readers suggested that the scammer may be trying to trick people into scanning the barcode of a duplicated RFID sticker. The scammer can then use the duplicate RFID sticker to go through tolls, which would be charged to the victims’ TNG eWallet accounts.

Now, Touch ‘n Go has not revealed much about how it is protecting its RFID stickers, only saying that each TNG RFID sticker has an embedded radio-frequency chip that makes every sticker “unique to each customer”.

But that suggests that the RFID stickers are not only encrypted, the chip has a private key that prevents duplication, which makes a lot of sense. Without such encryption and private key, anyone can literally just read the number off any RFID sticker in a parking lot, and duplicate it in a programmable RFID sticker.

Unless the scammer has somehow stolen the private keys, and can perfectly duplicate the RFID stickers, this seems like an improbable scam. More so when the scammers would be limited to using the tolls for free. Hardly worth the effort, if you ask me.

Fact #5 : There Are Easier + Cheaper Ways To Hack Your Phone

Truth be told – there are far easier and cheaper ways to hack your phone, than send you a free RFID sticker and ask you to scan the bar code.

These scammers will have to put in considerable expense and technical expertise into hacking the TNG eWallet app, and inserting their malware that the fake RFID number would trigger.

But why bother? If they can hack the TNG eWallet, they don’t even need to send you any fake RFID bar code to scan!

Making fake RFID stickers (tags) that look like genuine TNG RFID self-fitment kits costs money. Sending these fake kits also put them at risk, because deliveries can be traced.

There are many other ways to compromise your smartphone. There is simply no reason why scammers to waste time and money on such a convoluted scheme.

Fact #6 : Packages Do Get Delivered Wrongly

The most plausible explanation for receiving a free TNG RFID sticker out of the blue is that it was wrongly delivered to you. If you receive one, check the name and address on the package. It may not be meant for you. In that case, contact the delivery company and have them resend it to the right person.

I have also personally experienced receiving packages that I did not order, some of which appear to be sent due to a database error of some sort – my name and phone number are on the package, but the address was wrong or non-existent.

Out of an abundance of caution, just don’t install any RFID sticker that you did not order. Or you can call up TNG to verify that the RFID sticker is legitimate.

Touch ‘n Go eWallet, PayDirect and RFID services went down for most of the day today. Many users were logged out of the Touch ‘n Go eWallet app, and had difficulty logging back in. They often received error messages like:

Even when users could log in, they reported that their ewallet balance were either wiped out, or incorrect. Some even reported that their ewallet balance kept changing randomly!

Many users were also unable to make payments, or perform NFC card reloads. PayDirect payments also is not working.

Even worse, Touch ‘n Go eWallet outage this time has cut off access to TNF  RFID, with highway users reporting long queues at the RFID lanes. The RFID lanes at the SPRINT Expressway, Penchala Link and Kerinchi Link have consequently been closed down.

The only way for motorists to get through the tolls is to use their Touch ‘n Go card. So please make sure you reload your TNG card before using the highways!

 

Touch ‘n Go Finally Solves eWallet, PayDirect + RFID Problems!

Hours after users started complaining, the Touch ‘n Go eWallet team finally responded, saying that they are working on a fix.

All they can tell their users is that if they have sufficient balance in their eWallet, they can still pay for tolls and parking via PayDirect and RFID.

Dear valued users,

We are currently facing technical issues but be rest assured, we are rectifying the matter.

If you have enough balance in your Wallet, you are still able to pay for tolls and parking via PayDirect and RFID.

We apologise for the service interruption and inconvenience this may have caused.

Thank you for your kind patience and understanding.

But as many users have reported, that is just not possible. Both PayDirect and RFID appear to be down, which is why several highways have already closed their RFID lanes.

In addition, some users have reported that their eWallet balance is now empty, or has the wrong balance, or has insufficient balance. So they won’t be able to make payments, unless they have a physical TNG card as backup.

Finally, at around 3:36 PM, the Touch ‘n Go eWallet team reported that they finally restored all its services!

Touch ‘n Go eWallet and its services are up and running.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused earlier and thank you for your kind patience.

However, it looks like it will take time for all issues to be resolved. Users loading TNG eWallet after this will see a banner telling them not to worry about mysterious transactions that appear in their history, because they are just “delayed notifications”.

Got a txn you didn’t perform? Reset assured, it’s a delayed notification. Apologies for the confusion.

Several Touch ‘n Go eWallet users continue to complain that they still are unable to login, or make payments / transfers, or have wrong balances in their accounts.

How TNG eWallet SMS Phishing Scam Works!

The many examples of the TNG eWallet phishing scam employ SMS spoofing technology to send you SMS messages that appear to be from the TNG eWallet team.

What most people don’t know is that – the TNG eWallet team will never send you any SMS messages to :

  • offer you money from government or other agencies
  • inform you that money has been credited to your eWallet
  • ask you to log into your eWallet account using a link
  • ask you to update your account information using a link

The TNG eWallet team warned users against clicking on any links sent by SMS, even if they appear to be genuine. Genuine TNG eWallet SMS messages will never have a link attached.

These links do not lead to the real TNG eWallet website (https://www.touchngo.com.my/), but use similar-looking fake domains, like:

If you see such domains, you should be alert that you are being targeted by a phishing scam. NEVER CLICK ON A LINK in any TNG eWallet SMS.

If you click on any of these links, you will be taken to a page that looks like a genuine TNG eWallet login page, but is really a phishing scam page.

If you key in your login details, as well as your phone number and One-Time Password (OTP), the scammers will have full access to your eWallet, and can freely transfer out your eWallet balance.

As many of us link our credit cards to the TNG eWallet, the scammers can also reload your eWallet using those credit cards, and transfer the money out.

So make sure you IGNORE any SMS message that asks you to click on a link, even if it appears to be from TNG eWallet.

PLUS Warns Of 7.6 Million Vehicle Jam This Weekend!

PLUS is warning the public to expect a massive traffic jam, with over 7.6 million vehicles estimated to swarm its highways over the next four days!

Many Malaysians are expected to take advantage during the Maulidur Rasul (Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday) holiday, offering a 3-day weekend from Saturday to Monday.

In its statement released on Wednesday, 5 October 2022, PLUS said that they are estimating 1.9 million vehicles per day to use its highways from Friday until Monday.

LUS Head of Operations Excellence, Mohd Yusuf Abdul Aziz said PLUS has recorded daily traffic volumes of an average of 1.7 million vehicles since moving to the endemic phase and the trend had shown spikes of 1.9 million vehicles before each weekend.

We expect with more travellers taking advantage of the three-day weekend, traffic will be higher and a longer journey can be expected.

Therefore, we advise highway customers to be prepared and ensure their vehicles are fit for a longer drive this weekend.

 

How To Prepare For Traffic Jam On PLUS This Weekend!

PLUS is advising its highway users to expect a longer journey, and prepare for the inevitable traffic jam. Here are some tips to help prepare for a smoother journey this long weekend.

  1. Make sure your vehicle is in good condition and fit for a longer travel.
    a) Service your vehicle if necessary
    b) Ensure the tyres are in good condition, and properly inflated
    c) Ensure that the brakes are working properly
    d) Top up the fuel tank for a longer journey
  2. Top up your Touch ‘n Go card and/or TNG eWallet (if you are using TNG RFID).
  3. Get traffic updates from PLUS through :
    a)Twitter (@PLUSTrafik),
    b) PLUSLine hotline : 1800-88-0000
    c) PUTRI chatbot on the PLUS app
    d) Electronic signboards at various locations along the highways
  4. Use Waze or Google Maps to get live traffic updates, and to plan your travel.
  5. Please make sure you enter and exit the highway using the correct toll booth based on your payment type.
    If you entered using TNG RFID, you must exit using TNG RFID.
    Only Touch ‘n Go card users may alternately use the SmartTag booth (if they have one), or the TnG card booth.

While you are no longer required to wear a face mask indoors or outdoors, the Malaysia Ministry of Health (KKM) strongly recommends wearing one at highway rest stops, as they will inevitably be crowded.

All TnG eWallet services are finally back online, after going down for over 8 hours!

Here is everything you need to know!

 

TnG eWallet Down Earlier : No Payments Or Transfers!

At around 1 PM today, the TnG eWallet platform went down, preventing users from making payments or even money transfers.

One of our readers, Kent Ng, shared with me the error messages he received in the TnG eWallet app.

When he tried to transfer money, he received a Connection Time Out error. He couldn’t even pay for parking using TnG eWallet!

Initially, TNG Digital said that RFID transactions were affected, but a few hours later, they said that RFID can still be used, but you are limited to the balance in your TnG eWallet.

The automatic reload feature in the TnG eWallet is still down, so you cannot use RFID to go through toll booths if there is insufficient balance in your eWallet.

Please check your TnG eWallet balance, and make sure you have enough for the toll. Otherwise, please avoid using the TnG RFID lanes at toll booths until this issue is resolved.

You will have to switch to the Touch ‘n Go card, with or without SmartTAG, to pay at toll booths. Please make sure you have sufficient balance in your TnG card.

 

TnG eWallet Back Online After Going Down For Over 8 Hours!

After netizens complained about not being able to make payments, TNG Digital posted a short statement that they are currently working on a solution.

Dear valued user, 📣

We understand you’re experiencing a service interruption in your eWallet at the moment & may not be able to perform payments including RFID & PayDirect transactions. 🚫

Rest assured that we are currently rectifying this matter & will update you accordingly, as soon as it is back online. 🧐

We apologise for the inconvenience caused. Thank you for your kind patience & understanding. 🙏

The Touch ‘n Go eWallet team. 💙

About six hours later, they were still not able to restore payments. But the good news is that they say that TNG RFID will work at highway toll booths, as long as you have sufficient balance in your eWallet.

Touch ‘n Go Wallet is currently experiencing a technical difficulty and as such we are experiencing a disruption of all Touch ‘n Go Wallet services.

Touch ‘n Go cards and RFID can still be used in highways, transit and parking if you have sufficient balance.

You can reload all your Touch ‘n Go cards at physical reload points as usual.

We are working to restore our services as soon as possible.

At 9:35 PM – after over 8 hours of downtime – TNG Digital finally announced that all Touch ‘n Go eWallet are finally up and running!

Touch ‘n Go Wallet and its services are up and running.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused earlier and thank you for your kind patients.

They however noticeably did not reveal what happened to their platform, or explain why it took them so long to get it back online again.

We can only hope that they learned from this incident, and will put in place measures to prevent it from happening again…

Here is what we know so far…

 

Touch ‘n Go eWallet Is Now Back On Apple App Store!

Apple quietly removed the Touch ‘n Go eWallet (TNG eWallet) from the App Store in the first week of May 2022.

The TNG eWallet download page earlier stated “App Not Available – The app is currently not available in your country or region“.

It was also removed from the App Store search listing. The Boost eWallet now appears, instead of the TNG eWallet.

Even though the Touch ‘n Go eWallet app is no longer available in the Apple App Store, you can continue to use it if you had already installed it earlier.

The TNG Digital team stated that they are working to resolve the issue with Apple, and confirmed that the app that is installed in your iPhone will continue to work with all features fully-functioning.

Fortunately, the Touch ‘n Go eWallet (TNG eWallet) app was quietly restored to the Apple App Store on 11 May 2022.

 

Was Touch ‘n Go eWallet NFC Feature Removed For Apple Users?

Neither Apple nor Touch ‘n Go eWallet stated why the TNG eWallet app was removed from the App Store.

At that time, believed Apple removed it because of the recently-added NFC top-up feature for physical Touch ‘n Go cards.

That’s because Apple Pay is the only mobile wallet / eWallet allowed to use the iPhone and iPad’s NFC capabilities  for contactless payments.

That limitation has resulted in an antitrust charge by the European Union :

The European Commission has informed Apple of its preliminary view that it abused its dominant position in markets for mobile wallets on iOS devices. By limiting access to a standard technology used for contactless payments with mobile devices in stores (‘Near-Field Communication (NFC)’ or ‘tap and go’), Apple restricts competition in the mobile wallets market on iOS.

The Commission takes issue with the decision by Apple to prevent mobile wallets app developers, from accessing the necessary hardware and software (‘NFC input’) on its devices, to the benefit of its own solution, Apple Pay.

However, the newly-approved Touch ‘n Go eWallet version 1.7.73 continued to feature the NFC reload option.

Therefore, it seems more likely that Apple removed the app earlier due to the Face Verification feature in the Touch ‘n Go eWallet app.

In fact, the new Touch ‘n Go eWallet version 1.7.73 now lacks the Face Verification feature. Their FAQ also stated that :

Face verification is being upgraded for iOS users, this feature will be temporarily disabled. Kindly use your PIN as alternate authentication.

The previous version of Touch ‘n Go eWallet could have contravened this App Store Review Guidelines rule :

2.5.13 Apps using facial recognition for account authentication must use LocalAuthentication (and not ARKit or other facial recognition technology) where possible, and must use an alternate authentication method for users under 13 years old.

But at least Apple iPhone users can rest assured that they will continue to get the latest Touch ‘n Go eWallet app. They just have to live without the Face Verification feature for now…

The Touch ‘n Go eWallet app was just removed from the Apple App Store!

Here is what we know so far…

 

Touch ‘n Go eWallet Removed From Apple App Store!

Apple quietly removed the Touch ‘n Go eWallet (TNG eWallet) from the App Store a few days ago.

The TNG eWallet download page now states “App Not Available – The app is currently not available in your country or region“.

It was also removed from the App Store search listing. The Boost eWallet now appears, instead of the TNG eWallet.

Interestingly, the download page in the official Touch ‘n Go eWallet website is also not functioning, with a 404 error – Page not found.

It is however still available in the Google Play Store, so Android users can still download it just fine.

Even though the Touch ‘n Go eWallet app is no longer available in the Apple App Store, you can continue to use it if you had already installed it earlier.

The TNG Digital team stated that they are working to resolve the issue with Apple, and confirmed that the app that is installed in your iPhone will continue to work with all features fully-functioning.

This does not mean the removal is to be taken lightly. Until the app is restored to the App Store, you will no longer be able to update the app.

Over time, you may lose out on new features. But more importantly, you will no longer receive security and fixes.

If they continue to lock down the NFC feature on the iPhone / iPad to force the use of Apple Pay, they will invite more anti-trust actions, and possibly turn people to the Android platform.

Unfortunately, there’s really nothing much Apple users can do.

TnG eWallet 5th Anniversary Survey : Why This Is A Scam

Unfortunately, this is yet another survey scam, like the FamilyMart 70th Anniversary scam!

For one thing – the TnG eWallet was only launched in July 2017, so it would only be celebrating its 5th anniversary in July 2022!

TnG eWallet also confirmed that this survey is a scam.

I know many of us are in dire straits during this COVID-19 pandemic, having lost jobs, income or even loved ones.

Unfortunately, scammers are counting on our desperation to prey on us, using the same survey scam they have been using for years :

Now, let me show you how to spot these scams next time!

If you spot any of these warning signs, DO NOT PROCEED and DO NOT SHARE!

Warning Sign #1 : Bad Grammar

Most of these scammers do not have a good command of the English language, so if you spot bad grammar, stay away.

This scammer even got the spelling of the brand wrong! It’s Touch ‘n Go, not Touch n’Go.

Proper contests or events sponsored by major brands like TnG eWallet will have a PR or marketing person who will vet the text before allowing it to be posted.

Warning Sign #2 : Offering You Free Money Or Gifts

Please do NOT be naive. No one is going to give you money or free gifts just to participate in a survey!

Touch ‘n Go isn’t going to give you so much FREE money, just because it’s their anniversary.

They are a corporation whose business is to make money, not a charity to give you free money.

Warning Sign #3 : Not Using The Real Domain

A genuine TNG eWallet campaign would use their real domain – www.touchngo.com.my or www.tngdigital.com.my, not di47823.shop as shown in the scam post above.

Or they would run it off the official TnG eWallet page on Facebook – www.facebook.com/touchngoewallet/.

If you see nonsensical domains like childrerdg.xyz, uglyarticle.club, ldxqw.bar, etc. that’s a sign of a SCAM!

Warning Sign #4 : Asking You To Forward The Offer

No matter how many times you “try” this scam, you will ALWAYS win the RM 2000 “prize”.

If you don’t find that odd, you should know that no brand will insist that you must share the offer with 5 groups or 20 friends on WhatsApp.

Do not click to forward their offer to your family and friends. They will not appreciate being scammed with your help!

Warning Sign #5 : Asking You To Download + Register An App

If you click through and joined the fake survey scam, you may eventually be asked to download and register for an app.

That is VERY DANGEROUS. Never agree to download and register for any unknown app from a website.

Always download your apps from an official App Store like Google Play Store (for Android smartphones) and Apple App Store (for iPhones).

TNG RFID Tag : What Is It?

TNG RFID is an electronic payment system that uses an RFID (radio-frequency identification) tag to pass through tolls.

The RFID Tag is affixed to the vehicle’s windscreen or headlamp, and linked to the user’s Touch ‘n Go eWallet account.

Whenever the vehicle approaches a toll, an overhead scanner its encrypted code and automatically deducts the fare, allowing the user to pass without stopping.

TNG RFID Self-Fitment Step 1 : Install It On Your Vehicle

Here is a handy video guide on how to install the RFID tag on your vehicle :

  1. Clean the surface of the windscreen or headlamp
  2. Peel off the RFID tag from the Self-Fitment Kit
  3. Attach theRFID Tag either to :
    a) the exterior of the upper left windscreen, or
    b) the left headlamp of the vehicle

  1. Register a Touch ‘n Go Mobility eXperience account at mx.touchngo.com.my.
  2. Log into your Mobility eXperience account.
  3. Register your TNG RFID Tag number.

  1. Add your vehicle number to pair your RFID Tag with it.

  1. Add your mobile number to link your RFID Tag to your Touch ‘n Go eWallet.

That’s it! Now you just have to wait for an activation SMS in the next 24 hours, before you can start using your new RFID Tag!.

TNG RFID Will Finally Be Operational On PLUS Highway!

After almost 2 years of delay, TNG RFID will finally be operational on the PLUS Highway from 15 January 2022 onwards!

Here is what you need to know…

 

TNG RFID @ PLUS Highway : Originally Scheduled For April 2020!

TNG RFID is an electronic payment system that uses an RFID (radio-frequency identification) tag that is affixed to the vehicle’s windscreen or headlamp, and linked to the user’s Touch ‘n Go eWallet account.

The TNG RFID Tag is linked to the user’s Touch ‘n Go eWallet account, and whenever your vehicle approaches a toll, an overhead scanner its encrypted code and automatically deducts the fare, allowing you to pass without stopping.

This system was originally meant to be implemented on the PLUS highway in April 2020, but was repeatedly delayed until now…

TNG RFID Will Finally Be Operational On PLUS Highway!

On 16 December 2021, the Malaysia Ministry of Works (KKR) announced that the TNG RFID system will be activated from 15 January 2022 onwards for Class 1 light vehicles from the Juru toll in Penang to the Skudai toll in Johor Bahru.

This is part of the Ministry’s Intelligent Transport System (ITS) blueprint, which includes the Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF) toll system.

With the RFID system enabled, motorists will be able to pass through RFID tolls at up to 30 km/h, with the convenience of automatic top-ups.

Don’t worry if you don’t have your RFID tag yet. PLUS highway tolls will still support Touch ‘n Go cards and SmartTAG. Support for these legacy payment methods will be gradually reduced to allow for more RFID lanes.

TNG + Shell Announce RFID Fuel Payment + Offers!

Touch ‘n Go and Shell Malaysia just announced that they will introduce RFID fuelling through the use of TNG RFID. They also announced two promotions to promote TNG RFID at Shell stations!

 

TNG + Shell Announce RFID Fuel Payment

Touch ‘n Go and Shell Malaysia will sign a memorandum of understanding to introduce and use TNG RFID for fuel payments at Shell stations nationwide.

The introduction of TNG RFID fuelling will add a new benefit for TNG RFID users that currently number over 1 million to date.

The TNG RFID tag has an embedded radio-frequency chip, and is installed on the windscreen or headlamp of the vehicle.

An overhead scanner at the fuelling bay will read the signal from the TNG RFID tag, and deduct the cost of the fuel from the user’s TNG eWallet.

 

TNG + Shell Announce RFID + eWallet Offers

To spur the use of TNG RFID, Touch ‘n Go and Shell also announced two offers :

  • 15 February to 31 March 2020 : They will give away 10,000 free TNG RFID tags at select Shell stations to car owners who spend at least RM 50 using their Touch ‘n Go eWallet.
  • 17 February to 14 March 2020 : e-Tunai recipients will receive a cash back of RM 5 + RM 2 when they spend a minimum of RM 20 using their Touch ‘n Go eWallet at Shell stations nationwide.

Please be warned that Touch ‘n Go plan to shut down all TNG RFID Fitment Centres from 12-14 February 2020! Here is what we know so far…

 

Free RFID Tags @ TNG RFID Fitment Centres To End

During the 18-month pilot programme, Touch ‘n Go had been giving out free TNG RFID tags. That will end when they start charging RM35 for each TNG RFID Tag from 15 February 2020 onwards.

After that announcement, there was been a rush for the free TNG RFID tags, with reports of long queues, and mobile fitment booths running out of RFIG tags.

TNG RFID Fitment Centres To Close From 12-14 February!

It’s about to get even worse, because Touch ‘n Go apparently just issued a notice that they are shutting down their RFID Fitment Centres from 12-14 February 2020!

Now, you have to get your free TNG RFID tags today, or tomorrow, because all Touch ‘n Go RFID Fitment Centres will close from 12-14 February 2020. And as far as we know, this includes their mobile fitment booths as well.

TNG RFID Ultimate Toll Pass Contest

Touch ‘n Go also announced a two-month promotion to kickstart their nationwide rollout – the Ultimate RFID Toll Pass!

TNG RFID Tag : What Is It?

TNG RFID is an electronic payment system that uses an RFID (radio-frequency identification) tag to pass through tolls.

The TNG RFID Tag is affixed to the vehicle’s windscreen or headlamp, and linked to the user’s Touch ‘n Go eWallet account.

Whenever the vehicle approaches a toll, an overhead scanner its encrypted code and automatically deducts the fare, allowing the user to pass without stopping.

The Touch ‘n Go eWallet has been selected to participate in the Malaysian Government’s e-Tunai Rakyat programme!

Touch ‘n Go eWallet Selected For e-Tunai Rakyat Programme!

The e-Tunai Rakyat programme is initiative announced by the Malaysian Ministry of Finance under Budget 2020.

Under this initiative, every Malaysian above 18 years old earning less than RM 100,000 annually will be entitled to receive RM 30.

The e-Tunai Rakyat campaign will start on 15 January 2020, and run for 2 months until 14 March 2020. Claims can be made, and utilised within this time frame.

Touch ‘n Go eWallet has been selected as one of the e-wallets to funnel the funds to eligible Malaysians, who will be able to claim and use the funds at any one of their 110,000 merchant acceptance points.

Users can also use the funds to payments for mobile reloads, in-app purchases like street parking and toll payment though PayDirect and RFID.

 

How To Claim e-Tunai Rakyat For Touch ‘n Go eWallet

To be eligible to make the e-Tunai Rakyat claim through the Touch ‘n Go eWallet, follow these steps :

  1. Register for a Touch ‘n Go eWallet account
  2. Complete the Account Verification (eKYC) process
    – You will be required to take a photo of your MyKad, a selfie and fill in your details
  3. After verification, you will be able to claim your RM30 starting 15 January 2020.
