Right after news broke that the Gwen Casten died suddenly in her sleep, anti-vaccination activists started claiming that the 17 year-old daughter of US Congressman Sean Casten died from vaccine-induced Sudden Adult Death Syndrome!

Truth : Vaccine SADS was NOT cause of death for Gwen Casten!

It’s now a tradition for anti-vaccination activists to immediately blame all celebrity deaths or illnesses on the COVID-19 vaccine.

This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS created and propagated by anti-vaccination activists, and here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : Gwen Casten Died Of Sudden Cardiac Arrhythmia

Gwen Casten passed away in her sleep on Monday, June 13, 2022 at her home in Chicago, Illinois.

At that time, her family did not reveal any cause of death, allowing anti-vaccination activists like tech millionaire Steve Kirsch to claim that she died from the COVID-19 vaccine.

That changed on Friday, October 7 when the Casten family issued a statement, revealing that Gwen died of a sudden cardiac arrhythmia – an irregular heart beat that caused her heart to stop.

The truth is finally revealed – the cause of death for Gwen Casten was sudden heart failure caused by a cardiac arrhythmia, not the COVID-19 vaccine.

Gwen was a healthy 2022 teenager. She ate well, exercised, got regular check-ups, didn’t suffer from any behavioral health issues, and had close relationships with family and friends. She was fully vaccinated, and quarantined after occasional positive, asymptomatic COVID tests during the omicron wave. She had just come home from an evening with friends, went to bed and didn’t wake up.

We are heartbroken, but we are not unique. Sudden, unexplained heart-failure among young, healthy people is rare but real. We are left grasping at the wrong end of random chance.

We are grateful for the outpouring of love we’ve received over these past months. We’ve cried again over each of your letters, messages, meals, and flowers, but they are appreciated. We are also grateful for the donations to the Downers Grove North Friends of Fine Arts and March for Our Lives, causes that Gwen was actively engaged in during high school. It is a comfort to know how many lives Gwen touched over her 17 years.

She had a big, beautiful, kind, loving heart. And it stopped, as all must.

None of us know when our last heartbeat will come. The best we can hope for is that when our loved ones do pass, we will have no regrets about the time we were lucky enough to share.

So hug the folks you love a little harder today. Be present in their lives. And spread your love a little farther. Because in the end, it’s all that remains.

Fact #2 : Gwen Casten Was Healthy Before Her Sudden Death

As the Casten family pointed out – Gwen had regular check-ups and was healthy before her sudden death.

That tells us that she was not suffering from vaccine-related side effects like myocarditis or pericarditis, which would have left her breathless and fatigued, with chest pains, etc.

Despite what anti-vaccination activists claim, COVID-19 vaccines do not cause people to suddenly die in their sleep.

Fact #3 : Vaccine Protected Gwen Casten

Gwen Casten was fully-vaccinated against COVID-19, and her family pointed out that it protected her against the coronavirus.

When she was infected during the Omicron wave, her earlier vaccination not only protected her against severe illness, she was asymptomatic.

Fact #4 : SUDC / SUDIC Existed Long Before COVID-19 Vaccines

Anti-vaccination activists falsely claim that sudden unexplained death in young people and children never occurred before COVID-19 vaccines.

Children who appear perfectly healthy can and do die for no known reason. Such unexplained deaths in children are common enough that there is a term for it – Sudden Unexplained Death In Childhood (SUDC / SUDIC).

SUDC is most prevalent in toddlers (1-4 years old) and children in their late teens (15-19 years old). Nearly all children with SUDC were sleeping before becoming unresponsive, and were in state of usual good health.

The United States alone reported approximately 400 cases of SUDC every single year, before COVID-19 vaccines were invented or administered.

Globally, over 50,000 children in good health die suddenly every year, for unknown reasons, long before COVID-19 vaccines were invented.

SUDC statistics for England and Wales from 2011 to 2020 showed NO INCREASE in SUDC cases, clearly demonstrating that COVID-19 vaccines did not increase the prevalence of SUDC.

Fact #5 : SADS Is An Inherited Heart Condition

It is ludicrous to claim that COVID-19 vaccines cause sudden arrhythmic death syndrome (SADS), because SADS was first documented in 1977 – long before COVID-19 vaccines were invented!

Despite what anti-vaccination activists may tell you – SADS is not a new vaccine-related syndrome.

SADS is an inherited problem with your heart’s electrical system, which produces an abnormal heart rhythm that leads to a cardiac arrest. That’s why it can be prevented by implanting a cardioverter-defribillator.

SADS also occurs at a rate of 0.12 to 0.21 per 100,000 people every single year. In other words, approximately 9,000 to 16,000 people die from SADS every single year, before the COVID-19 vaccines were invented.

The UK Office for National Statistics data on Sudden Adult Deaths from 2016 to 2020 also showed NO INCREASE in SADS cases, demonstrating that COVID-19 vaccines did not increase the prevalence of SADS.

Note : There is no 2021 data until sometime in December 2022. The 2020 data was only released on 22 December 2021.

Vaccination in the United Kingdom started on 8 December 2020, with over a million doses administered by end of the month. Despite (false) claims that the vaccines cause SADS, that did not result in an increase in SADS cases.

Fact #6 : Vaccine Side Effects Appear Within Hours / Days

Gwen Casten died about a year after her last COVID-19 vaccination. She cannot possibly have died from a vaccine side effect, because they appear within hours or days, not months later.

Mild side effects like injection site pain, fever, muscle ache, headache, lethargy develop within minutes to hours of the vaccination.

Anaphylaxis develops within minutes, while other severe adverse reactions like myocarditis and VITT develop within days.

The spike proteins produced by the COVID-19 vaccines also do not stick around for months. If these spike proteins are permanent (as antivaxxers claim), we would have lifelong immunity.

Your own immune system will identify the spike proteins as foreign, and destroy them within a matter of days, although some may last for up to a few weeks. This is part of how vaccines teach your immune system to identify the enemy and destroy it.

Fact #7 : Deaths / Injuries From COVID-19 Vaccines Can Be Proven

Gwen Casten obviously underwent an autopsy for her cause of death to be confirmed to be sudden heart failure from a cardiac arrhythmia. It would have revealed if an earlier vaccine injury caused her death in some way.

Despite anti-vaccination activists chalking up celebrity deaths to the vaccine; death or injury from rare vaccine adverse effects like anaphylaxis, myocarditis and VITT can be proven.

Anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction) from Pfizer or Moderna mRNA vaccines happens within minutes. That’s why people are asked to wait for 15-30 minutes after getting the vaccine. People who get an anaphylactic shock will require an epinephrine shot to quickly relieve it.

Vaccine-induced myocarditis has distinct histopathology findings that are different from typical myocarditis, so a pathologist will be able to determine if the myocarditis was caused by the vaccines or otherwise.

Vaccine-induced Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia (VITT) is very specific to the AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. It is also easily differentiated by its unique combination of blood clots in large veins of the brains, abdomen and lungs, together with low platelet counts leading to bleeding tendencies.

Fact #8 : COVID-19 Vaccines Proven Safe + Effective

COVID-19 vaccines underwent massive clinical trials, and were only approved after they were proven to be safe and effective.

In addition, they were constantly monitored after they received their approvals, which picked up rare side effects after they were administered to billions of people.

Anti-vaccination activists have often claimed that those who received the vaccine would die. Yet, the opposite was true – the vaccines are not only safe, they are effective in protecting people from getting hospitalised or dying from COVID-19.

Even prominent antivaxxer Steve Kirsch is healthy and well, despite being fully-vaccinated against COVID-19!

Fact #9 : Claims Of Celebrities Injured By COVID-19 Vaccine Proven False

This is yet another example of anti-vaccination activists abusing celebrity deaths / injuries to create and propagate FAKE NEWS about the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines.

So far, claims of celebrity deaths / injuries due to the COVID-19 vaccine have been proven false at every instance.

Will these anti-vaccination activists apologise for lying to you? Nope! They will just move on to the next celebrity tragedy…

Gentleminions TikTok Craze : What Is It?

Minions: The Rise of Gru – the latest instalment of the wildly popular Despicable Me movie franchise – was released on July 1, 2022.

It quickly topped the box office, with a four day total of $122.5 million in the US and Canada alone, thanks in part to the Gentleminions TikTok craze.

The Despicable Me movie franchise has been a family favourite with kids and their parents who can’t get enough of cute banana-yellow Minions – Kevin, Stuart and Bob, and friends.

But cinemas are seeing hordes of teenagers – mostly male, all dressed in smart suits and some “armed” with yellow bananas, lining up for the new Minions movie.

They would record themselves swarming the theatre, sitting together in a group to watch the movie and mimic Gru or the minions – all to post on TikTok, and other social media – Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc.

 

Gentleminions TikTok Craze : The Good, The Bad + The Ban!

Many Gentleminions dressed up in the spirit of good humour, as part of a fun night at the movies with friends after 2+ years of the pandemic.

Universal Pictures was no doubt pleased as punch – these teenagers (and some adults) were boosting the box office numbers, which is why they gave a hat tip to those who participated.

Unfortunately, some Gentleminions were not really “gentleminions”. They would clap, shout and wave their hands, or even stand up during the movie, disrupting the experience for everyone else.

Some even threw the bananas they brought at the screen, while others turned on their smartphones’ torchlight to wave in the dark cinema.

When cinema ushers asked them to stop and settle down, some verbally abused them while others threw things at them, or other cinema-goers, including young children.

In some cases, the cinema staff had to evict the troublemakers, and even the police was involved. One cinema manager shared that :

It’s been absolutely heartbreaking. We’ve had families who won’t even go back into the screen when we’ve tried to sort it out, families leaving before the film has even started, and of course the children have been in tears.

A few cinemas had to refund other patrons who were not pleased at all with the disruptions, especially families who brought their children for what they thought would be a fun experience.

In the end, some cinemas are refusing to allow “unaccompanied children wearing suits” to watch the movie. Odeon cinemas in the UK, for example, put up this sign :

Due to recent disturbances following the #Gentleminions trend, any group of guests in formal attire will be refused entry for showings of Minions: The Rise of Gru. Thank you.

 

Gentleminions Cinema Ban : Check Before You Leave Home!

It is sad that what seemed to be a fun trend devolved in some cases into a real problem. Those rowdy Nastyminions are spoiling the trend for the real Gentleminions, and that’s a real shame.

If you are planning to dress up to watch Minions: The Rise of Gru, please check if the cinema has a new dress code restriction. Just in case – bring a set of casual clothes.

Steve Kirsch : Gwen Casten Died Of COVID-19 Vaccine!

Tech millionaire Steve Kirsch is back with yet another COVID-19 vaccine conspiracy, after claiming that the vaccine caused Justin Bieber’s facial paralysis!

This time, he claims that Gwen Casten – the 17 year-old daughter of US Representative Sean Casten, died from the COVID-19 vaccine!

His article is extremely long-winded as usual, so let me just share with you part of his summary. But I recommend you just skip to the next section for the facts.

US Congressman Sean Casten’s 17-year-old daughter Gwen Casten died in her sleep on June 12, 2022.

Healthy young kids rarely died in their sleep before the COVID vaccine rolled out.

I don’t know of a single doctor who has even heard of this happening prior to the COVID vaccines rolling out. Now it is the “new normal.”

I’m 65 years old and I can’t recall ever reading about this in the news until the COVID vaccines rolled out. In the last year, I know of at least 6 deaths of young people who died in their sleep after being vaccinated.

Leaders like Rep. Casten simply look the other way to the possibility that he may have contributed to his daughter’s death by encouraging her to get vaccinated.

Will Sean Casten use this as an opportunity to learn more about how dangerous the vaccines are? Unfortunately, that’s very unlikely to happen.

I think he will convince himself that:

  1. his daughter’s death was “unexplained,”
  2. these unexplained deaths are ONLY happening to vaccinated kids is simply “bad luck”
  3. these deaths, which only started happening after the COVID vaccines rolled out, are “unexplained”

and continue to be a cheerleader for the COVID vaccines. That’s the real tragedy here.

As usual, Steve Kirsch jumps to conclusion that the COVID-19 vaccine killed Gwen Casten, based on ZERO EVIDENCE.

Despite writing such a long article, he offered NO EVIDENCE that Gwen Casten died from the COVID-19 vaccine.

  • Did Gwen’s father say so? Nope! He said she died from a cardiac arrhythmia.
  • Did Gwen Casten’s autopsy report say so? Nope!
  • Did anyone reveal Gwen Casten’s cause of death? Nope!

Now, I will go through the key conjectures he made, and show you why they are literally… bullshit.

Claim : Healthy kids do not die in their sleep unexpectedly for no reason.
Verdict : False
Fact : Children who appear perfectly healthy can and do die for no known reason.
Fact : Such unexplained deaths in children are common enough that there is a term for it – Sudden Unexplained Death In Childhood (SUDC / SUDIC).
Fact : In 2018 alone, the US CDC reported that 392 children died suddenly without a clear cause of death in the United States.
Fact : Nearly all children with SUDC were sleeping before becoming unresponsive, and were in state of usual good health.
Fact : SUDC is most prevalent in toddlers (1-4 years old) and children in their late teens (15-19 years old).

Claim : The COVID vaccine is the most likely cause for any child who has been vaccinated with the COVID vaccine and later dies in their sleep.
Claim : Before COVID vaccines started rolling out, healthy kids dying in their sleep was never an issue.
Verdict : Both False
Fact : Gwen Casten’s cause of death is currently unknown. Unknown means it’s not yet known. It doesn’t mean she died from the vaccine.
Fact : The United States alone reported approximately 400 cases of SUDC every single year, before COVID-19 vaccines were invented or administered.
Fact : SUDC statistics for England and Wales from 2011 to 2020 showed NO INCREASE in SUDC cases, clearly demonstrating that COVID-19 vaccines did not increase the prevalence of SUDC.

Claim : Six young people died in their sleep right after vaccinations, so Gwen Casten must have died from vaccine.

Fact : The examples Steve Kirsch provided are either anecdotal, or have not been proven to be caused by COVID-19 vaccines.
Fact : Death from vaccine side effects can be proven. Vaccine-induced myocarditis, for example, has distinct histopathology findings that are different from typical myocarditis.
Fact : Gwen Casten first received her COVID-19 vaccinations in May 2021, and likely received her second dose in June 2021, followed by her booster dose in November 2021. So she died 6-7 months after her last vaccination.
Fact : Vaccine side effects occur in the first 2-3 days. Even adverse effects like myocarditis and VITT occur within days of receiving the vaccine.

Claim : Mysterious deaths do not happen to the unvaccinated.
Claim : Mysterious deaths never happened before COVID vaccines were rolled out.
Verdict : Both False
Fact : Sudden unexplained death in children (SUDC) occurs at a rate of 0.7 per 100,000 every single year. In other words – over 50,000 children die every year for unknown reasons, in their sleep, even though they are in good health, long before COVID-19 vaccines were invented.

Claim : Mysterious deaths usually happen very shortly after the COVID shot.
Verdict : False
Fact : Gwen Casten died 6-7 months after her last vaccination, so by Steve Kirsch’s own definition, her death had nothing to do with COVID vaccines.
Fact : Mysterious deaths have occurred in children before and after COVID vaccination… and long before the COVID-19 vaccines were invented.

Malaysia Approves Sinovac Vaccine For Use In Adolescents!

On 1 October 2021, the Malaysia Health Ministry (KKM) announced the Drug Control Authority (DCA) has approved the use of the Sinovac CoronaVac vaccine in adolescents 12-17 years in age.

With this approval, the CoronaVac now becomes the second COVID-19 vaccine to be approved for use in teenagers, in addition to the Pfizer-BioNTech COMIRNATY vaccine that was approved in June 2021.

However, the Drug Control Authority recommends that when it comes to adolescents 12 to 17 years old, the Sinovac vaccine should be used for :

  • those without co-morbidities,
  • those who have severe allergies, or
  • those who are unable to take the Pfizer Comirnaty vaccine.

They will only determine if adolescents with co-morbidities are allowed to receive the Sinovac vaccine once there is sufficient data.

Sinovac COVID-19 Vaccine : A Quick Primer!

Sinovac CoronaVac an inactivated virus vaccine made from actual SARS-CoV-2 virus grown in Vero cells, and killed using β-propiolactone.

Developed by Sinovac Life Sciences, CoronaVac is a 2-dose inactivated virus vaccine, where the second dose delivered 14 days after the first.

Once injected into the body, the antigens on the inactivated SARS-CoV-2 virus triggers the body’s immune system.

Unlike the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines, CoronaVac only needs to be refrigerated at 2–8 °C (36–46 °F), which makes it easy to distribute.

On 6 February 2021, China approved the CoronaVac vaccine for general use.

A video of a boy collapsing after his Pfizer vaccination in Melaka has gone viral, together with this message (with our translation in English) :

Its happening in ENCORE PPV Melaka today, after pfizer vaccination

This video shows the teenager suddenly collapsing outside the Encore PPV (COVID-19 Vaccination Centre) in Klebang Melaka.

He had to be held up, and a RELA member was later seen carrying him into the PPV.

The viral video sparked panic amongst parents, as it comes right after false claims of 5 teenagers dying from the COVID-19 vaccine.

Truth : FEAR, Not Vaccine, Caused Boy To Collapse!

The video is genuine, but the boy did NOT collapse because of the COVID-19 vaccine.

No Breakfast?

According to Melaka State Health and Anti-Drugs Committee chairman, Datuk Rahman Mariman, the teenager skipped breakfast on the morning of his COVID-19 vaccination because he was anxious about it.

He became dizzy and was nauseous, before losing consciousness and collapsing outside of the Encore PPV. Fortunately, his condition improved after he was given some food.

[The incident] is true.  The student had nausea because he skipped breakfast due to anxiety. However, his condition improved after having some food.

KKM : It Was Vasovagal Syncopy

On 1 October 2021, the Deputy Health Minister I, Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali, visited the teenager at 8:30 AM and obtained more information on this case.

He said that the boy did not have any health issues, but was nervous during vaccination. He also confirmed that the teenager did not have any breakfast that morning.

After getting vaccinated, the boy experienced vasovagal syncope and collapsed and that was when the viral video was recorded.

This is exactly what happened to Tiffany Dover, the American nurse who fainted on live TV after receiving the same Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.

People with vasovagal syncope will faint when exposed to certain triggers like pain, emotional stress, fear of needles or even just the sight of blood.

The teenager was allowed to return home after being observed at the PPV, and confirmed to be healthy.

Did five teenagers die after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine?

Claim : 5 Teenagers Died From COVID-19 Vaccine, 2 In Hospital

On 28 September 2021, an anti-vaccine activist went viral on social media when she claimed in a video that :

  • two teenagers are currently experiencing serious adverse effects of the vaccine in Ipoh
  • five teenagers died from their COVID-19 vaccination in Perak, Sabah and an unspecified location.

She called for parents to report AEFI (Adverse Effects Following Immunisation) to the health authorities, as well as the PPIM and GPMC activist groups.

Truth : 5 Teenagers Did NOT Die From COVID-19 Vaccine!

The anti-vaccine activist may come across as very passionate and convincing, but facts do matter.

As of 29 September, no teenagers died from COVID-19 vaccination in Malaysia.

Fact #1 : KKM Refuted Her Claims

The Malaysia Health Ministry fortunately moved very fast to fact check her claims, and confirmed on 29 September 2021 that four of the teenagers she mentioned did NOT die from COVID-19 vaccination.

They were not able to trace the 5th case. We will update this article when we know more.

Fact #2 : SMK Tasek Damai Students Were Not Even Vaccinated

The activist claimed that two students from the SMK Tasek Damai school in Ipoh, Perak, died after receiving their COVID-19 vaccination.

Sadly, two SMK Tasek Damai students died in recent weeks, but they never received their COVID-19 vaccination!

A 17 year-old girl, who was a Form 5 student at SMK Tasek Damai and a Type 1 Diabetes patient on insulin, was infected with COVID-19 and died on 18 August 2021, before the Teenage COVID-19 Vaccination Program began.

A 17 year-old boy, who was a Form 5 student at SMK Tasek Damai and a Congenital Heart disease patient, was brought to the Emergency Department for a serious infection. He was given respiratory and resuscitation assistance but passed away on 17 September 2021. He had not been given the COVID-19 vaccine. The cause of death was ‘Sepsis with Underlying Congenital Health Disease‘.

Fact #3 : No Teenager Died From COVID-19 Vaccination In Lahad Datu

The activist claimed that a teenager in Lahad Datu, Sabah, died after receiving the COVID-19 vaccination.

However, the Health Ministry said that no teenager died after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine in Lahad Datu.

Our investigation showed that NO DEATH involving teenagers who received the COVID-19 vaccination were reported in Lahad Datu.

Fact #4 : Two Teenagers Experienced AEFI In Ipoh

Two teenagers who are 16 and 18 years old from the same family experienced an adverse effect from the Pfizer COMIRNATY vaccine that they received.

They both experienced adverse effects of the COMIRNATY vaccine and were admitted to a private hospital in Ipoh.

The 16 year-old teenager was discharged from the hospital, while the 18 year-old teenager is still under treatment and observation at the hospital.

A check by the NPRA showed that they did not receive any report of the siblings’ adverse effect from the vaccine.

Fact #5 : Risk Of Myocarditis / Pericarditis Exists

Although KKM did not reveal what adverse effects the siblings in Ipoh experienced, it is likely to be myocarditis or pericarditis.

These are known AEFI of the Pfizer COMIRNATY vaccine in young males, with an approximate risk :

  • 6 cases for every 100,000 doses.
  • 1 case for every 17,400 doses

Parents whose children were vaccinated with the Pfizer COMIRNATY vaccine should monitor them for these symptoms :

  • chest pain
  • shortness of breath
  • heart palpitations / pounding heart

The good news is that myocarditis and pericarditis are both treatable.

Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine Approved For Children In Malaysia!

On 15 June 2021, the Malaysia Ministry of Health (KKM) announced that the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) approved the use of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in children 12 years and above.

You may recall that the Pfizer COMIRNATY vaccine was first approved for use in adults 18 years and above on 8 January 2021.

With this approval, children aged 12 years and above will be able to sign up for the COVID-19 vaccination programme.

 

How To Register Children For COVID-19 Vaccine Using MySejahtera

MySejahtera has been updated to allow registration of children for the COVID-19 vaccine, so here is our video guide on how to do that!

Registering Children For COVID-19 Vaccine In Vaksin COVID Website

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to do that on the Vaksin COVID website.

  1. Go to the Vaksin COVID-19 website at www.vaksincovid.gov.my.
  2. Click on the green REGISTER NOW button.
    Or use these direct links – BM | English | Chinese | Tamil
  3. In the first part of the COVID-19 vaccine registration page, you will need to fill in :
    – Your child’s name
    – Your child’s age
    – Your child’s IC (MyKad) or Passport number
    – Phone number : this can be your child’s own number, or yours

  1. In the next part, you will be asked to fill in these details for your child :
    – State : where your child currently lives
    – Email (optional) : this will be an alternate means to contact you or your child
    – Address : where your child currently lives. This can be different from your address if your child is (for example) in a boarding school or living with a guardian
  2. You will also be asked three simple questions :
    – Is your child interested to take the COVID-19 vaccine :
    – Does your child have any comorbidities?
    – Is your child registered with the Department of Social Welfare Malaysia as a disabled person?

  1. If your child has comorbidities, you will be asked to select them from list :
    – Diabetes Mellitus
    – Hypertension
    – Heart Disease
    – Asthma
    – Cancer
    – Chronic Lung Disease
    – Kidney Disease
    – Liver Disease
    – Stroke
    – Immunocompromised
    – Obesity
    – Bleeding Tendency (INR ≥ 4)
    – History of Severe Allergic Reaction
    – Others : you will need to fill it in manually

Listing your child’s comorbidities will help the JKJAV team prioritise children at higher risk from COVID-19, and exclude those who cannot receive the vaccine.

  1. Once you are done, double check what you have entered and click or tap on the I’m not a robot checkbox.
  2. Then click > SUBMIT.

That’s it! You should see this Thank You message pop-up, confirming that you have successfully registered your child for the COVID-19 vaccination programme in Malaysia!

If you do not see this Thank You message, keep clicking on the Submit button every few minutes. You may need to redo the I’m not a robot test every now and then.

Claim : WHO Now Says Children Should NOT Get COVID-19 Vaccine!

Websites like Precision Vaccinations, and antivaxxers on social media, the World Health Organisation (WHO) just published revised guidelines, stating that children should NOT receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

The World Health Organization (WHO) published revised advice on June 21, 2021, clarifying which populations should receive COVID-19 vaccines. The WHO’s website now states, ‘Children should not be vaccinated for the moment.’

Furthermore, the WHO says ‘There is not yet enough evidence on the use of vaccines against COVID-19 in children to make recommendations for children to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Children and adolescents tend to have milder disease compared to adults.’

Truth : This Is Old COVID-19 Vaccine Advice By WHO!

Both Precision Vaccinations and antivaxxers on social media are quoting a genuine WHO page – COVID-19 advice for the public: Getting vaccinated.

However, they have all misrepresented what WHO said. Here are the FACTS…

Fact #1 : WHO Did Not Change COVID-19 Vaccine Advice For Children

Precision Vaccinations and anti-vaccination activists on social media call it “Breaking News” or claim that it was just revised on 21 June 2021 to warn against vaccinating children against COVID-19.

The truth is WHO did not change their COVID-19 vaccine advice for children. Their recommendation on not vaccinating children at the moment had always been in this page, from the very beginning!

But how do I prove this to you?

Using the Wayback Machine, we can see that the earliest archive of this page was 8 April 2021.

Here is a comparison of the WHO SHOULD GET VACCINATED section of the page, as it existed on 8 April and 22 June (today).

As you can see, this section NEVER CHANGED, between 8 April and 22 June 2021. Not a single word was changed!

So all those claims that this is new advice by the WHO is nonsense.

Fact #2 : That Was Outdated Advice By WHO

I can also tell you that even the 8 April 2021 version of this page is outdated advice by the WHO.

The team who posted this page probably forgot to update this section to reflect the changes over time.

Again, how do I prove this to you?

If you use the Wayback Machine to go to the first archive (8 January 2021) of the WHO page on the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, you will see that it had been updated to say that :

The vaccine has only been tested in children above 16 years of age.

Therefore, at this time, WHO does not recommend vaccination of children below 16 years of age, even if they belong to a high-risk group.

In other words, based on the existing trial results back in January 2021, WHO had already recommended vaccinating teenagers who are 16 years or older!

Fact #3 : WHO Guidelines Based On Science

The WHO has always based their vaccine guidelines on what the trial data says.

They only recommended that the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine be given only to those who are 16 years and older, because the existing trial data at that time proved that it was safe for those who are 16 years and older.

Obviously, the WHO isn’t saying that vaccines are dangerous and children should not be vaccinated. That’s why their original recommendation was “children should not be vaccinated for the moment“.

When new clinical trial conducted on younger children prove that the vaccine is safe for them, the WHO will naturally update its guidance to reflect the new data.

Fact #4 : Pfizer-BioNTech Vaccine Proven Safe For Adolescents

On 10 May 2021, the US FDA expanded the Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to include adolescents 12 through 15 years of age.

This expanded EUA was issued based on a randomised, placebo-controlled clinical trial involving 2,260 adolescents in the United States, 12 through 15 years old.

The side effects reported by these trial participants were consistent with those reported in the earlier clinical trial.

  • pain at the injection site
  • tiredness
  • headache
  • chills
  • muscle and/or joint pain
  • fever

In other words, they were mild and the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine was proven safe in adolescents.
