Make sure you buy the original ones, because at least we know that they emit low levels of ClO2 gas.
Dr Clo Warning : Do NOT Hang It On Your Body!
According to the Dr Clo’s FAQ 2.0 (posted March 2021), Dr Clo is not meant for users to hand on their bodies. The correct way to use it is to place it indoors.
Yet many of Dr Clo influencers love showing how easy it is to strap it around their necks.
Dr Clo Disinfectant Sticks : Do They Work Against COVID-19?
Dr Clo made a number of claims about their disinfectant sticks, including being over 99.9% effective against the COVID-19 virus.
Let’s examine each claim, and see what the FACTS really are!
Claim #1 : Dr Clo Is US FDA Approved / Tested / Verified Verdict : Registered, But Not Tested, Verified Or Approved
When we first fact-checked their claims, Dr Clo’s Facebook posts claimed that their sanitisation sticks were tested, verified and approved by the US FDA.
Dr Clo told us that it was a mistake, and they removed all references to US FDA approval, verification or testing.
However, a quick check revealed that at least their subsidiary in the Philippines continues to make this claim (here, here, here), as well as the Dr Clo official store.
So let us make it very clear – Dr Clo disinfectant sticks were NOT TESTED , NOT VERIFIED and NOT APPROVED by the US FDA.
Dr Clo was only registered as a 510(K) exemptgeneral purpose disinfectant, with the Registered Establishment Number of 3013383068.
With the exception of certain reserved devices, the US FDA does NOT require Class I products to even prove that they are safe and effective.
As a 501(K) exempt device, “a premarket notification application and FDA clearance is not required before marketing the device“.
The US FDA only requires the manufacturer “to register their establishment“, which was what Dr Clo did.
Therefore, Dr Clo disinfectant sticks were registered, but not tested, verified or approved by the US FDA.
Claim #2 : Dr Clo Is Class 1 Medical Device Verdict : Correct, Because It Doesn’t Require FDA Approval
Most people will assume that Class 1 products are superior to Class 2 or Class 3 products. That’s not true.
Dr Clo is a Class 1 product because it’s just a disinfectant, and therefore, does not require FDA testing or approval!
Class 1 products are those that are the least likely to pose a risk to our safety. Hence they generally do not require testing or approval by the US FDA. Examples of Class 1 products include :
Toothbrush – manual or electric
Class 2 products are those that pose more risk because they come into contact with your internal organs, or are diagnostic tools, etc. Examples of Class 2 products include :
Blood pressure cuffs
Pregnancy test kits
Class 3 products are those that either sustain / support life, are implanted, or could potentially pose risk of injury. Examples of Class 3 products include :
Claim #3 : Dr Clo Is Medical Grade / Hospital Grade Disinfectant Verdict : Not Until They Are US EPA Certified
Dr Clo claims that their disinfectant sticks are Hospital / Medical Grade Disinfectants. That would true, if their disinfectant sticks are registered with the US EPA.
This is important because hospital-grade disinfectants are certified based on DIS/TSS-1 Jan 22, 1982 EFFICACY DATA REQUIREMENTS Disinfectants for Use on Hard Surfaces.
At the very minimum, a hospital-grade disinfectant must be tested against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus, and their efficacy approved by the US EPA.
As per Dr Clo’s FAQ 2.0 (posted March 2021), their disinfectant sticks are not registered with the US EPA.
Claim #4 : Dr Clo Was Certified Effective Against COVID-19 Virus Verdict : Only In Labs, Using Solution / Sealed Chamber
Konkuk University : Using Solution
In December 2020, NON Corporation announced that their Dr Clo disinfectant sticks were proven to be 99.9% effective against SARS-CoV-2, the COVID-19 virus.
This was based on a laboratory test conducted by KR Biotech Co. Ltd under the Institute of Infectious Disease Control of Konkuk University.
In that test, KR Biotech dissolved an entire Dr Clo disinfectant stick in 100 ml of warm water for 24 hours, to create an aqueous chlorine dioxide solution.
That concentrated chlorine dioxide solution reduced the SARS-CoV-2 virus titre (amount of virus) by 99.93% after just 30 seconds.
However, the actual Dr Clo disinfectant stick works by releasing small amounts of chlorine dioxide gas over 50 days, so the laboratory test was completely pointless.
The KR Biotech test results do not prove that the chlorine dioxide gas from Dr Clo disinfectant sticks can actually destroy the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the air, much less prevent you from getting infected.
Lots of things can kill the SARS-CoV-2 virus, including ordinary soap! But that does not mean these substances can effectively kill SARS-CoV-2, or prevent an infection, when dispersed into the air.
Seoul National University : Using Sealed Chamber
A month after we published our fact check on 3 February 2021, NON had Professor Cho Nam Hyuk from the Seoul National University test the efficacy of their Dr Clo sanitisation stick against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
In that test, Professor Cho used a sealed chamber measuring 25 centimetres on each side, with a cubic capacity of 15.625 litres.
He ran two tests – one with a Dr Clo disinfectant stick attached to the top of the sealed chamber, and one without.
At first glance, the results are impressive, showing a steady drop of plaque-forming units (p.f.u.) with the Dr Clo disinfectant stick active in the sealed chamber.
After one hour, no more SARS-CoV-2 p.f.u. could be detected.
However, I have to point out a few troubling points about this study :
A. The sealed chamber is very small – measuring just 25 cm x 25 cm x 25 cm.
It would not be an accurate reflection of the real world discharge of the Dr Clo disinfectant stick, which promises a protective radius of 16 feet (4.88 metres).
The sealed chamber has a cubic capacity of 0.01562 m³ – much smaller than the rated protective volume of 17,157 cubic feet or 486 m³.
B. The Dr Clo disinfectant stick appeared to be activated for 16 hours, prior to the test.
That would have led to a very significant accumulation of chlorine dioxide within the sealed air chamber.
If true, it would not be an accurate reflection of the real world concentration of chlorine dioxide released by the Dr Clo disinfectant stick.
C. It took about 252 seconds for the chlorine dioxide gas to reduce the virus load in the air chamber by half.
While better than the baseline of 11 minutes, 4 minutes is still a long time because SARS-CoV-2 is a highly-contagious virus that infects in SECONDS.
A normal person takes about 12 to 20 breaths a minute. That’s an average of 67 breaths in the 4 minutes 12 seconds it takes for the chlorine dioxide gas to cut the viral load by half.
It does not appear that the chlorine dioxide gas from the Dr Clo disinfectant stick can destroy the SARS-CoV-2 virus fast enough to matter.
Claim #5 : Dr Clo Passed EU REACH SVHC Test Verdict : Absolutely, Chlorine Dioxide Is Not Even In The List
To prove that Dr Clo is safe, NON Corporation had it tested by the Korea Testing and Research Institute (KTR) for toxins and carcinogens.
Acer just introduced the 2021 Nitro 5 gaming laptop, powered by Ryzen 9 and GeForce RTX 3080!
Here is what you need to know about this new super-fast Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop!
2021 Acer Nitro 5 : Ryzen 9 + RTX 3080 FTW!
The 2021 Acer Nitro 5 just got a MASSIVE upgrade! You can now opt for the AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX mobile processor, and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics!
It even comes with two DDR4-3200 slots with up to 32 GB memory, and two M.2 slots of PCIe NVMe SSDs! On top of that, it comes with Wi-Fi 6 and Killer Ethernet E2600 connectivity built-in.
The 2021 Nitro 5 boasts a 15.6-inch IPS display with a 165 Hz refresh rate with a QHD resolution, or a stupendously fast 360 Hz refresh rate with a FHD resolution. Both options offer a 3 ms response time for minimal ghosting.
To ensure the 2021 Nitro 5 can withstand even the most intense gaming sessions, it features a revamped thermal system with dual fans and four exhaust fans. On top of that, Acer CoolBoost and NitroSense lets you monitor fan speed, and increase it when you need that extra performance.
It also comes with a multitude of ports – a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C port, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port with power off charging capability, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, and HDMI 2.1 port and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
While Im is most comfortable with the special stenography keyboard, she felt that it was more comfortable to type on the Book Cover Keyboard, than an actual laptop keyboard.
In the end, she managed to type at around 700 strokes per minute on the Book Cover Keyboard, compared to 670 strokes on a laptop keyboard.
Frankly, most of us would expect to type faster on a laptop keyboard than a tablet keyboard… but as our review pointed out – the Book Cover Keyboard is really nice to type on, especially with its 26% larger keycaps and 18.3 mm key pitch.
Photos of a Lazada delivery man licking and spitting on a package is going viral, with warnings to sanitise packages you receive from Lazada and other delivery services.
Find out what happened, and decide for yourself if he really did lick that package!
Claim : Lazada Delivery Guy Caught Licking Package!
This Facebook post, and similar variants, are going viral on social media and WhatsApp, showing what appears to be a Lazada delivery man licking and spitting on a package.
Please sanitize your Lazada packages today! This is what we saw from our CCTV.
Let’s continue to be vigilant. This CCTV footage was taken at the house of our friend in AAV only today.
They often have Lazada and Shopee deliveries so they already setup a drop off / sanitation table in their garage.
The CCTV footage shows 2 Lazada delivery guys with masks on their chin and one of them rubbed his face on the package then spat on it.
PLEASE PLEASE be careful with your deliveries. Sanitize and sanitize again!
There are evil people!
Lazada Delivery Guy Caught Licking Package : The Facts
This Facebook post appears to be genuine, but is being disputed by the Lazada delivery man caught in the images above.
Here is what we know so far…
Fact #1 : The Incident Happened On 3 December 2020
In social media, the posts are often shared stating that “it happened today”, or “this just happened”, or left unsaid.
The original post appears to have been removed, but based on our investigations, the incident happened at around 5:30 PM on 3 December 2020.
Fact #2 : The Incident Happened In Manila
You may have seen people claiming that this happened “locally”, but that lacks context.
The incident did not happen in Singapore or Malaysia or even Thailand.
It happened outside a home in Ayala Alabang in Muntinlupa, Metro Manila in the Philippines.
Fact #3 : The Lazada Delivery Man Disputed The Claim
The Lazada delivery man, Justine Rainer Israel of Pasay City, publicly disputed the claim.
In a Facebook post (now removed), he accused the OP (Original Poster) of discrimination, saying that rich people like them look down on poor people like him.
Here is the rough English translation, please correct us if we are wrong :
I am the one in the picture. Yes, I stuck my face on it but I did not lick or spit on your item or parcel.
You are rich, we are poor like that. You will do it, you will see something wrong.
I waited for more than 20 to 30 minutes at your gate in Ayala Alabang in the middle of the heat.
I sat down because it was tiring to wait for you rich people to collect your item, but why are you so judgemental?
I AM NOT CRAZY TO DO THAT. YES, I WORK TO EARN A LIVING. SUFFERING IN THE HEAT EVEN WHEN HUNGRY, JUST TO DELIVER THE ITEM YOU NEED, RIGHT?
JUST BECAUSE WE HAVE NO MONEY. YOU ARE RICH. THAT”S WHAT YOU DO TO THOSE OF US WHO WORK FOR A LIVING.
I used your item to cover my face to protect from the heat because you took so long to come out. God bless to all of you wherever you are. I hope you will be happy forever!
Fact #4 : Netizens Dispute His Claim
While some netizens commiserated with the Lazada delivery man, other netizens pointed out that :
it was wrong to remove the face mask and place the package against his face and mouth
the Lazada delivery team was only there for less than 6 minutes
he was seen in the CCTV footage swinging the package and hitting it against his leg
Lazada Delivery Guy Licking Package : Should You Be Worried?
Should you be worried if your local Lazada delivery guy, or any other delivery guy for the matter, licks your packages, or spits on them?
Other than the fact that it is highly unsanitary, the risk of catching COVID-19 from packages is practically nil, although it has been considered a possible mode of transmission.
So far, there has been no record of anyone getting infected by COVID-19 through fomites – contaminated objects like that package.
That said, it is a good idea to wipe down any parcel or package you receive. But more importantly, you should always maintain good hand hygiene by washing your handswith soap, or using a hand sanitiser.
COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe During RMCO!
Here are a few simple steps to stay safe :
Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!

The Samsung Galaxy M20 (MY | US) has two colour options – Charcoal Black and Ocean Blue. Which do YOU prefer? The Samsung Galaxy M20 (MY | US) was originally launched in India on 5 February 2019, in two variants :
If you like our work, you can help support our work by visiting our sponsors, participating in the Tech ARP Forums, or even donating to our fund. Any help you can render is greatly appreciated!
The Samsung Galaxy M20 Up Close!
The Samsung Galaxy M20 (MY | US) is designed around a large 6.3-inch Infinity-V display, and a large 5,000 mAh battery.
This display has a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels, with more than 90% screen-to-body ratio!
Let’s take an up close look at the Samsung Galaxy M20, and its key features!
The SIM tray is located on the left side, with the Power and Volume control buttons on the right. The 3.5 mm audio port is located at the bottom, next to the USB Type C port.
Samsung Exynos 7904
The Samsung Galaxy M20 (MY | US) runs on the new Samsung Exynos 7904 mobile SoC.
With a 2+6 architecture, the Exynos 7904 has two fast Cortex-A73 cores running at 1.8 GHz, and six low-power Cortex-A53 cores running at 1.6 GHz.
It also has a dual-core ARM Mali-G71 GPU to accelerate graphics and games.
Memory + Storage
The Samsung Galaxy M20 (MY | US) has two variants – a base model with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, and a higher-end model with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage.
There is considerable bloat though. Out of the 4 GB memory capacity, 1.9 GB or just under half is available for use. We definitely recommend going with 4 GB of RAM.
The operating system and built-in apps take up just under 13 GB, which leaves you about 51 GB of free space. In the base model which has 32 GB of storage, you will only have about 19 GB of free space to use.
Triple Card Tray
Don’t worry about running out of storage space though. The Samsung Galaxy M20 (MY | US) comes with a triple card tray.
This allows you to use two nano SIM cards, and a microSD of up to 512 GB in capacity.
The Samsung Galaxy M20 (MY | US) comes with a rear fingerprint sensor, aligned centrally.
Covering most of the front is a large 6.3-inch IPS display, which Samsung calls an Infinity-V display because of its V-shaped notch.
The smaller V-notch allows for a larger display area, specifically space for more notifications. Barring the complete removal of the notch, this is about as good as it gets!
Thanks to its large 5,000 mAh battery, the Samsung Galaxy M20 (MY | US) lasted almost 13 hours! This is not just screen-on time. It’s running the Work 2.0 benchmark over, and over again, for over 12.75 hours!
Battery Recharging Performance
The Samsung Galaxy M20 supports 15 watt fast charging. Let’s see how fast it recharges its 5,000 mAh battery!
Samsung Exynos processors have never been particularly strong at work performance, and the Samsung Exynos 7904 is no exception. It was 13% slower than the Redmi Note 7 which uses the 2-year old Qualcomm Snapdragon 660.
Gaming Performance – 3DMark
We then tested the Samsung Galaxy M20’s gaming performance using 3DMark, using the Ice Storm Unlimited test.
The Samsung Exynos 7904 was not fast at games either, with its dual-core ARM Mali-G71 GPU.
It was actually half as fast as the Redmi Note 7 which uses the 2-year old Qualcomm Snapdragon 660. It was closest in performance to the OPPO R17 Pro, which uses the MediaTek Helio P60.
The Samsung Galaxy M20 (MY | US) is an interesting mid-range contender. It comes with a large 6.3-inch Full HD+ display and a large 5,000 mAh battery to keep it going for hours and hours…
It also comes with a nice complement of cameras. Its 8 MP front camera boasts a fast, bright f/2.0 lens. In the back, it has an excellent 13 MP main camera, with a very useful secondary ultra-wide angle 5 MP camera.
However, its muted colour makes its chassis look like a budget device, a far cry from the premium look of the cheaperRealme 3!
We also wish Samsung added electronic image stabilisation to their camera. It would have made the Galaxy M20 (MY | US) a more compelling device. After all, the Redmi Note 7 offers electronically-stabilised video recording at the same price point!
The Samsung Galaxy M20 (MY | US) is a good effort by Samsung to defend its lower mid-range market share. However, it will find strong headwinds from Chinese smartphones like the Redmi Note 7 and the Realme 3.
Coming just two weeks after its global launch in Beijing, the Black Shark 2 is here to take down the ROG Phone and the Razer Phone 2!
Here is everything you need to know about Black Shark 2 – the official tech briefing, as well as its price and deals!
The Black Shark 2 Gaming Smartphone
Black Shark 2 (8GB | 12GB) is a gaming-optimised smartphone, very similar to the ROG Phone and the Razer Phone 2. It was designed to take both its competitors down in five key aspects of mobile gaming – gaming performance, gaming control, vision, hearing and vibration.
The Black Shark 2 (8GB | 12GB) runs on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 mobile platform, and comes with either 8 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage, or 12 GB RAM and 256 GB of storage.
Direct Touch Liquid Cooling System 3.0
The Black Shark 2 (8GB | 12GB) features a direct touch liquid cooling system that keeps the entire device cool, as opposed to just cooling the CPU and GPU.
To guarantee maximum gaming performance with no dropped frames, the Ludicrous Mode locks the CPU into its maximum clock speed.
5-Hour Gaming Battery Life
Despite its size, the Black Shark 2 (8GB | 12GB) only comes with a 4,000 mAh battery. However, they assure us that it will let you game for up to 5 hours before it needs a recharge.
Fast Charging While Gaming
The Black Shark 2 (8GB | 12GB) supports 27 watt fast charging, which gives you 30 minutes playing time with a quick 5-minute charge, and one full hour of gaming with just 10 minutes of charging.
You don’t even have to stop playing. Even if, for example, you are playing PUBG, it will recharge to 15% in just 30 minutes.
To ensure maximum wireless connectivity, the Black Shark 2 (8GB | 12GB) features an enhanced X+2 antenna design. The two additional side antennas help the X-type smart antenna transfer data wirelessly no matter how you grip the phone.
Low Latency Touch Screen
It claims to have the “world’s lowest latency touch screen“, with a response time of only 43.5 ms, slightly less than the iPhone XS at 45 ms and the Galaxy S10 at 60 ms.
AMOLED Display With DC Dimming
The Black Shark 2 (8GB | 12GB) has a large 6.38-inch AMOLED display with DC dimming to reduce strain on the eyes.
It also boasts an integrated DSP with MEMC (Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation) capabilities to eliminate unwanted judder and blur.
Its audio system is designed specifically for gamers, with dual front-facing speakers. They are also 25% larger than speakers of a standard smartphone.
It also comes with three gaming microphones – two of them noise-cancelling microphones in the front to ensure clear in-game voice chats.
4D Gaming Experience
The Black Shark 2 (8GB | 12GB) can recognise different environments, weapons, movements and actions (e.g. hits), and can automatically vibrate itself to create a 4D gaming experience.
If you want to play on a larger display, you can connect it to a TV or monitor using a HDMI cable. Play your games like a console with the optional GamePad 3.0 accessory.
