How 2019 Samsung Smart TVs Will Change How We Interact With Our TV

The 2019 Samsung Smart TVs, announced at CES 2019, promises to change how we interact with our TV.

Let’s take a look at the 3 key developments that the 2019 Samsung Smart TVs will introduce, and change the way you think about content and connectivity.

1. More Content With Apple Partnership

In March 2019, Samsung’s landmark partnership with Apple will come into effect. It will allow iOS devices like iPhone and iPad to stream directly to the 2019 Samsung Smart TVs using Airplay 2, without the need for Apple TV or additional connections.

In addition, Samsung customers in over 100 countries will have exclusive access to the new Apple iTunes Movies and TV Shows app on Samsung Smart TVs, when it is launched.

2. New Bixby For 2019 Samsung Smart TVs

The 2019 Samsung Smart TVs will come with a New Bixby AI assistant, that will learn about your preferences from each interaction. This will allow the new Bixby to make informed suggestions about what to watch.

The improved Bixby assistant will cover a wider range, and can hear voices from a greater distance. As such, there is no longer a need to press the speaker button on your remote control to talk to Bixby.

3. Seamless Connectivity At Home

The 2019 Samsung Smart TVs will also act as connectivity hubs for your home. You will be able to control connected devices around your home with the SmartThings dashboard.

You can also create automated tasks to trigger certain actions when certain conditions are met. For example, you can set your air-conditioner in a room to automatically turn itself off whenever windows are kept open for a period of time.

The 2019 Samsung Smart TVs will also let you remotely control and access your PCs, laptops, smartphones and tablets, using Remote Access. They can also interact seamlessly with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

The Frame TV by Samsung Revealed!

In a glamorous event at the Star Residences Show Gallery, Samsung Malaysia unveiled The Frame. This is a new lifestyle-focused TV that is designed to beautify the room like a work of art. It literally transforms into a digital art display to complement the aesthetics of the room.

The Frame TV by Samsung

The Frame is a fully-functional 4K LCD TV, but instead of fading to black once you turn it off, it transforms into a work of art. Its Art Mode feature allows you to display 100 exclusive works of art by 37 renowned designers, or family photos – all controlled through a smartphone app.

The Frame is equipped with a brightness sensor that allows it to adapt to the changing levels of natural light in the room. It also has a motion sensor that turns off the display completely whenever the room is empty. This allows it to save electricity, while ensuring that the art work is always displayed whenever someone is in the room.

To ensure that The Frame matches the ambience and décor of any living space, it has a magnetic frame that can be customised with Walnut, Beige wood and White finishes. It also boasts the Samsung No Gap wall mount, which allows it to be installed flush against the wall. Thanks to its Invisible Connection design, it can be mounted like a painting, without messy cables.

Price & Availability

The Frame from Samsung is available in 65″ and 55″ options. They will officially make its debut in Malaysia on 15 August 2017 at the following recommended retail prices:

  • 65″ The Frame by Samsung : RM 14,999 / ~US$ 3,569
  • 55″ The Frame by Samsung : RM 9,999 / ~US$ 2,379

YouTube HDR App Now Available On 2016 Samsung TVs

21 December 2016Samsung Electronics today announced that it will support YouTube’s global HDR playback on television for the first time, through an expanded version of the YouTube application. The YouTube Application is available on all 2016 Samsung Quantum dot TVs and UHD TVs and will launch progressively throughout the world from December.

YouTube HDR app to offer the ultimate HDR viewing experience on 2016 Samsung TVs

YouTube will support High Dynamic Range (HDR) video streaming, offering a wide range of HDR content. Launched through an automatic software update, consumers who use all 2016 Samsung Quantum dot TV and UHD TVs can access HDR content simply by visiting the HDR category within the YouTube application on YouTube’s 4K channel, providing an easy way to navigate and enjoy premium content.

“With the global availability of YouTube’s HDR, we at Samsung are thrilled to support the best HDR viewing experience and a wide range of HDR content for users to enjoy,” said Seline Han, Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “We are confident that our TVs will bring to life an immersive HDR viewing experience — all from the comfort of our users’ homes.”

[adrotate banner=”4″]

To coincide with the launch, the YouTube application will feature new HDR videos from popular YouTube content creators, such as MysteryGuitarMan and Jacob + Katie Schwarz. To ensure the proliferation of new HDR content, additional YouTube creators will be able to utilize the YouTube Spaces LA and NYC, which provide HDR production resources to content creators.

With a growing number of HDR content providers, as well as the numerous creators already producing HDR video content, the YouTube HDR support is expected to introduce more genre offerings in the coming year and satisfy user demand for a true-to-life viewing experience on the content they enjoy the most.

“We are thrilled to announce the launch of HDR support on Samsung’s Quantum dot TVs,” said Heather Thompson Rivera, Director of Product Partnerships at YouTube. “By combining Samsung’s commitment to picture quality and our desire to offer the best content available, we will work together to build a strong ecosystem that improves HDR content creation and allows users to enjoy more diverse content in the best quality possible.”

Emerging as one of the most sought after display technologies in the last few years, HDR is an image reproduction technology that analyzes the contrast ratio of a video to help express even the most subtle differences in shades and tones of color. Paired with Samsung’s Quantum dot TV, the picture that is produced appears more realistic and life-like on screen. In addition, Samsung’s Quantum dot TVs have the capacity to generate peak brightness of 1,000 nits, optimized for the most ideal HDR viewing experience.
