How 2019 Samsung Smart TVs Will Change How We Interact With Our TV

The 2019 Samsung Smart TVs, announced at CES 2019, promises to change how we interact with our TV.

Let’s take a look at the 3 key developments that the 2019 Samsung Smart TVs will introduce, and change the way you think about content and connectivity.

1. More Content With Apple Partnership

In March 2019, Samsung’s landmark partnership with Apple will come into effect. It will allow iOS devices like iPhone and iPad to stream directly to the 2019 Samsung Smart TVs using Airplay 2, without the need for Apple TV or additional connections.

In addition, Samsung customers in over 100 countries will have exclusive access to the new Apple iTunes Movies and TV Shows app on Samsung Smart TVs, when it is launched.

2. New Bixby For 2019 Samsung Smart TVs

The 2019 Samsung Smart TVs will come with a New Bixby AI assistant, that will learn about your preferences from each interaction. This will allow the new Bixby to make informed suggestions about what to watch.

The improved Bixby assistant will cover a wider range, and can hear voices from a greater distance. As such, there is no longer a need to press the speaker button on your remote control to talk to Bixby.

3. Seamless Connectivity At Home

The 2019 Samsung Smart TVs will also act as connectivity hubs for your home. You will be able to control connected devices around your home with the SmartThings dashboard.

You can also create automated tasks to trigger certain actions when certain conditions are met. For example, you can set your air-conditioner in a room to automatically turn itself off whenever windows are kept open for a period of time.

The 2019 Samsung Smart TVs will also let you remotely control and access your PCs, laptops, smartphones and tablets, using Remote Access. They can also interact seamlessly with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

Samsung Knox Comes To 2018 Samsung Smart TVs!

At CES 2018, Samsung announced that the 2018 Samsung Smart TVs will ship with the Samsung Knox technology. They also announced that their Smart TV security solution is the first in the industry to receive the Common Criteria (CC) certification for three consecutive years, and its Checkout payment service is also certified by the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

Samsung Knox Comes To 2018 Samsung Smart TVs!

The Samsung Knox technology for TV implements a hardware root of trust security architecture which incorporates security features across the TV platform stack. Integrated into all Smart TV lineups in 2018, the Samsung Knox technology ensures strengthened security optimized for the Smart TV user environment.

The Samsung Knox-based security system detects and removes malicious applications which can steal important data from other applications. Based on this enhanced security, Samsung became the first in the industry to receive Common Criteria certification, an internationally recognized certification system for computer security that is conducted for government evaluations, for three consecutive years.

Samsung Checkout

The Samsung Checkout payment service received PCI DSS certification by UL at CES 2018, another noteworthy feat for the TV industry. For T-Commerce, which allows consumers to purchase products and services directly from their TVs, Samsung has further strengthened the security of its Smart TV payment service.

Checkout is a simple T-Commerce payment service that encrypts credit card information. PCI DSS is an international data security standard which has been adopted by American Express, Discover Financial Services, JCB International, MasterCard, and Visa Inc. for all organizations that process, store or transmit credit card information.

McAfee Security For TV

In addition to Samsung’s own security software, Samsung and McAfee also have developed a new security application tailored for TVs called McAfee Security for TV, which has been in place since April 2017 and ships on all Samsung Smart TVs.

This TV security application provides an additional twofold protection for Samsung Smart TVs. McAfee is one of the world’s leading independent cybersecurity companies, offering security services in 32 languages. Samsung Smart TVs were the first in the world to adopt this innovative security software, specifically for TVs.

Samsung Smart TVs Certified By Germany TÜV Rheinland

Seoul, Korea, 8 September 2016Samsung Electronics announced that its line-up of 2016 Smart TVs has been certified by world-class German testing and certification authority, TÜV Rheinland, for their usability. TÜV Rheinland also validated Samsung Smart TVs for their remote features.

The certification and validation was awarded to Series 7 and higher Samsung Smart TVs, citing the auto-detect feature that identifies external devices connected to the TV, and the Smart Remote that controls multiple devices.

Samsung Smart TVs Certified By TÜV Rheinland

All of Samsung’s 2016 Smart TVs are designed to make the viewing experience more comfortable and intuitive for the consumer. Through the auto-detect feature, which recognizes external devices including OTT, set-top boxes, home theater systems and game consoles, along with the Smart Remote that can control multiple devices with a single remote, the TV viewing experience has never been simpler.

Samsung’s improved Smart Hub, powered by Tizen, gives users instant access to a wider range of content – including TV shows, internet streaming services and games – faster and easier than ever before. Visitors were also able to experience the TV PLUS service, which was scheduled to be released during the fourth quarter in the United States, after having been previously launched in Thailand, Vietnam and Korea.

2016 Samsung SUHD TV Models Revealed

At the recent Samsung Forum 2016, we were given the first look at the 2016 Samsung SUHD TV models to hit the market in the coming months. Join us as we share with you the videos and pictures we took of these new Samsung SUHD TV models.

Samsung KS9000 SUHD TV

Samsung’s flagship SUHD TV in 2016 will be the Samsung KS9000 series, which tops out with the 65″ Samsung 65KS9500. This series is the first Samsung curved TV to feature what Samsung calls a “bezel-less” display. Of course, there is still a thin bezel, so it’s not a true “bezel-less” display. It just appears bezel-less from the optimal viewing distance.

Check out this video we took of the 65″ Samsung KS9000 SUHD TV :

Like all of Samsung 2016 SUHD TVs, the Samsung KS9000 series uses a 10-bit quantum dot display, with a 1,000 nits HDR (high dynamic range) capability. Samsung also introduced a 360° design philosophy, in which the TV is designed to look elegant at all angles – even from behind.

Samsung 8K SUHD TV

This behemoth is a 98″ SUHD TV with an 8K display. It features the same quantum dot display of the KS9000 series SUHD TVs, just with a much higher resolution and obviously in a much more opulent size. Check out the video and pictures we took of it :

In case you are wondering, yes, you can order this 98″ 8K Samsung SUHD TV for your mansion. There is no price indication, but when it comes to bespoke models like this, if you have to ask – you can’t afford it! 😀

Other New Samsung SUHD TV Models

All of the 2016 Samsung SUHD TV models will feature Samsung’s own cadmium-free, 10-bit quantum dot display. They also boast improved HDR performance – with a peak brightness of 1,000 nits.

These SUHD TV models, as well as their 2016 Smart TVs will feature a new Smart Hub with simplified access to the user’s content and games.

They will also come with a new Samsung Smart Control remote, which replaces multiple remote controls. The 2016 SUHD TVs and Smart TVs will automatically recognise game consoles, home theatre systems and even OTT boxes connected to them, and the Smart Control remote will automatically control them all – no setup required!
