The Official Samsung Forum 2017 Press Release

Singapore – February 16, 2017 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., today showcased its vision for new-generation technology and innovation at its 2017 Samsung Southeast Asia and Oceania Forum in Singapore. The range of new products include the stunning new QLED TV line-up, the Family Hub 2.0 refrigerator, FlexWash, the washer-dryer combination model, and the POWERbot VR7000 – Samsung demonstrated its leadership in pioneering new technology that seamlessly fits into consumers’ lives through more personalized and intuitive ways.

“At Samsung, we remain committed to developing thoughtful innovations that not only address the ever-changing needs of our customers, but are also aimed at making a meaningful impact in their lives,” said Yong Sung Jeon, President & CEO, Samsung Electronics Southeast Asia and Oceania. “Despite some challenges, we’ve made big strides in 2016 and will continue to look forward as we engineer a smarter future together with our consumers.”

Samsung QLED, a New Frontier in Home Entertainment

Featuring incredible advancements in the development of Quantum dot technology, Samsung unveiled the new range of QLED TVs – the Q7, Q8 and Q9. The series, which add new metal material to nano-sized semiconductor quantum dots, deliver the perfect mix of light and color currently available in display technology. The result is a stunning large-screen QLED TV, with an incredibly accurate and precise picture that can be viewed from any angle or in any environment.

Samsung QLED TV takes Quantum dot technology to new heights with advanced light efficiency and stability, as well as a wider color spectrum than ever before. The new QLED TV addresses several consumer pain points that could be found in many of today’s displays, including brightness levels, lifespan, color range, details and viewing angles. It not only displays a 100% color volume and a peak brightness of HDR 1,500 – 2,000 nits, but also improves upon all aspects of picture quality.

Samsung also introduced new design elements that aims to enhance the QLED TV experience even further. The practically invisible optical cable helps to solve the issue of unsightly cords and clutter that can be found in the home with a sleek, single cord system. Additional accessories such as the optional “No-Gap Wall Mount,” makes mounting a TV flush against the wall simpler and faster. Finally, for those who desire a variety of stylish options when displaying their TV, Samsung introduced two new optional elegant TV stands – Gravity and Studio – that appeal to the consumer who prefers an un-mounted TV.

In addition to the new range of QLED TVs, Samsung also shared its plans to deliver a more unified experience for customers using various services and devices.

  • Samsung Smart Remote – Enhanced to support even more devices, the new Samsung Smart Remote will now offer voice control capabilities across more Smart TV features, allowing consumers to have increased flexibility as they enjoy all that their TV has to offer at the touch of a button.
  • Samsung Smart View app – Available on Android and iOS, the app allows users to get their personalized SmartHub experience right on their phone.

Enhanced Flexibility Within the Home

Samsung’s unwavering commitment to enriching and empowering consumers with technological innovation and world-class expertise in home appliances is manifested in category redefining products like the Family Hub 2.0 refrigerator, the FlexWash laundry system, the world’s first Wind-Free wall-mounted air conditioner, and the VR7000 POWERbot vacuum cleaner which was recognized with innovation awards at CES 2017.

As an upgraded version of Family Hub 1.0, which received wide acclaim last year, Family Hub 2.0 boasts an expanded, flexible line-up that allows consumers to choose the refrigerator that best matches their needs. It also enhances usability with intuitive app integration and new app partners to help families stay connected, manage food, and access more entertainment on the refrigerator’s 21.5-inch LED touch-screen. For added convenience, Samsung’s advanced voice technology has also been integrated across many of Family Hub 2.0’s apps. It also improved UX usability by allowing consumers to make more accounts of apps.

This year, Samsung is also introducing the FlexWash washer-dryer combination model that tightly integrates two washers and a dryer into one high performance appliance. The innovative unit boasts a range of core Samsung laundry technologies and features, including the popular AddWash Door. FlexWash is designed to cut laundry time in half while providing a higher level of care for clothes: the main front loader can either be an AddWash washing machine or dryer, offering consumers the flexibility to start the dry cycle without moving clothes, while the smaller top loader takes care of delicate items that require extra care. Both loaders can be operated simultaneously or separately.

Following the strong consumer response to the Wind-Free floor-standing air conditioner launched in Korea last year, Samsung has developed a new wall-mounted version. The AR9500M provides Wind-Free air conditioning, so the home maintains a comfortable level of coolness without the unpleasant feeling of direct cold wind. The unit disperses cool air through 21,000 micro holes at speeds slower than 0.15m/s, and creates ideal climates for deep and restful sleep.

Samsung also unveiled the latest addition to its line of POWERbot vacuum cleaners – the VR7000. Sporting a new slimmer design and enhanced features, the VR7000 ensures a more thorough clean, covering hard-to-reach corners and edges that hand-operated vacuum cleaners frequently miss. The POWERbot VR7000’s Edge Clean Master enables the unit to clean within 15mm of the wall while the Auto Shutter automatically drops down a barrier to help sweep up dust right at the edge.

Alongside new cutting edge products and technologies launched this year, the 2017 Samsung Southeast Asia and Oceania Forum will also exhibit Twin Cooling refrigerators and the popular AddWash and Active Dualwash Laundry machine.

Samsung Introduces POWERbot VR7000 @ CES 2017

28 December 2016Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announces the latest in its innovative and popular line of POWERbot VR7000 vacuum cleaners. Set to be unveiled at the upcoming CES 2017 in Las Vegas in January, the new unit features powerful suction and slim design — at less than 4 inches tall (97mm), it is 28% slimmer than previous Samsung robot vacuums.

POWERbot VR7000

Slim New Design, Powerful Cleaning

The new design is aimed squarely at consumers who demand better automated cleaning. According to internal Samsung research, 39% of consumers in North America said they expect their robot vacuum cleaner to reach hard-to-reach places and have enough suction capacity to eliminate the need for manual follow-up cleaning.

Depending on the model chosen, the POWERbot VR7000 ensures thorough cleaning by generating up to 20 watts of suction power while covering areas that hand-operated vacuum cleaners miss, like under beds or other furniture.

The POWERbot VR7000’s Edge Clean Master feature enables the unit to come within a ½ inch (15mm) of the wall. This is achieved by placing the unit’s wide 11 inch (288mm) brush — the widest among leading brands — close to the front, so when the unit reaches the wall it can easily gather dust and hair. Additionally, the Auto Shutter feature further meets that demand by automatically dropping down a barrier to help the unit sweep up more dust collected closer to the edges.

The POWERbot VR7000’s unique Self-Cleaning Brush System significantly reduces the amount of dust and hair that gets trapped in the bristles. It collects debris in the center of the brush, facilitating easier transfer into the dustbin to cut down on regular maintenance.

Smarter Than Ever

The POWERbot VR7000 is equipped with several intelligent features that power the unit’s automated performance. With Visionary Mapping Plus and FullView Sensor 2.0, the POWERbot VR7000 maps and remembers contours of the room to provide thorough cleaning. Later, it can guide itself to dirty areas on any surface. It can also detect and work around obstacles or small items (less than 10mm or 0.4/inch).

The Intelligent Power Control feature automatically adjusts the level of suction power, optimizing cleaning functions according to surface type. For instance, when it moves from a hardwood floor onto a carpet or rug, the motor adjusts suction power to the surface for optimal performance.

And like so many of Samsung’s home appliances, the POWERbot VR7000 is IoT-ready, and fully controllable remotely by app. From a smartphone or other mobile device, users can start or stop the machine, schedule cleaning times, and check the cleaning history. In addition, POWERbot VR7000 is compatible with Amazon Echo so consumers can control it using voice commands.

“The POWERbot VR7000 keeps up with the floor care needs of today’s busy families,” said Byung-Sam Seo, President of Home Appliances at Samsung Electronics. “Just set it and watch it go to work. The POWERbot VR7000’s navigational features and sensors combined with slim design and increased suction power help make sure the job gets done.”

Anyone wishing to find out more about the VR7000 or any other Samsung Electronics product is encouraged to visit the company’s CES booth #15006, on Level 1 of the Central Hall in the Las Vegas Convention Center, from January 5th through to January 8th 2017.

Samsung POWERbot VR9300K & VR9200 Models Revealed

Earlier this month, we attended the Samsung Forum 2016, where we saw the latest and greatest Samsung home technology – all slated for sale this year. What really caught our eyes was a demonstration of the new Samsung POWERbot VR9300K robot vacuum cleaner against the latest LG Roboking robot vacuum cleaner. It was really, really impressive!

Samsung POWERbot VR9300K & VR9200J

Currently, Samsung sells the POWERbot VR9000H (Model VR20H9050UW). That’s the one on the far right. It boasts 20X more suction power than the 3-year old Samsung Navibot SR10F71 robot vacuum cleaner.

Impressive, but Samsung tops that up with the new Samsung POWERbot VR9300K and VR9200J models. The VR9300K boasts a whopping 70X more suction power than the Navibot SR10F71, while the VR9200J has 50X more suction power.

These two new models also feature remote WiFi control using a smartphone, as well as an improved FullView Sensor 2.0 which scans and maps over a 170° arc. All the other cleaning features remain the same, from its Cyclone Force system, 311 mm wide brush and Visionary Mapping Plus system.

Samsung POWERbot VR9300K Vs. LG Roboking

We have no idea which LG Roboking model they used for this comparison, but it appears to be the latest LG Roboking VR6470LVM. Check out its performance compared to the forthcoming Samsung POWERbot VR9300K!

Impressive, isn’t it? The Samsung rep also demoed the use of the Point Cleaning feature. To get the POWERbot to clean a specific area, just point at it using the remote and fire the red LED light on the spot. The POWERbot will clean the area surrounding that lit point.

VR9300K & VR9200J Availability

Both these new POWERbot models will be available in the United States in the Spring of 2016. Global availability will vary from country to country, but expect it to start selling in Q2 2016 onwards.
