Samsung AddWash Washing Machine Revealed

The Samsung Forum 2016 showcased a number of new home appliances that will be arriving anytime now. Other than the Family Hub Refrigerator, Samsung also revealed the Samsung AddWash family of washing machines.

Samsung AddWash Washing Machines

The new Samsung AddWash Washing Machine has a distinctive hatch in its access door. The hatch is designed to make it convenient for you to add any item into the washer mid-cycle. You no longer have to drain the washer to open the access door. Just pause the washer, open the hatch and throw in your forgotten laundry.

You can also use the hatch to add hand-washed items in the rinse or spin cycle, or to add additional softener at anytime during the washing or rinsing cycle. In this video, we take a close look at the Samsung AddWash Washing Machine, and the eponymous AddWash hatch.

The Samsung AddWash Washing Machine comes with a SuperSpeed (with SpeedSpray) feature that allows it to complete a normal wash in less than an hour without compromising washing performance. Together with its digital inverter technology, it helps to reduce power consumption. [adrotate banner=”4″]

The Samsung AddWash Washing Machine (12 kg model only) also comes with Smart Control that works with both Android and iOS smartphones. With Smart Control, you can now easily monitor the progress of your laundry program, and even choose to get alerts on your smartphone just before the start of a new washing cycle. This option is especially useful when you want to add a few pieces of delicate or hand-washed items towards the end of the wash cycle.

Samsung will initially offer these three models :

  • the Samsung WW12K8412OW/FQ, which can wash up to 12 kg of laundry and dry 8 kg of wet laundry; and
  • the Samsung WW10K6410QW/FQ, which can wash up to 10 kg of laundry and dry 6 kg of wet laundry.
  • the Samsung WW80K5410WW/FQ, which can wash up to 8 kg of laundry and dry 5 kg of wet laundry.

All three models feature digital inverter technology (which reduces power consumption), SuperSpeed (with Speed Spray) technology (except the 8 kg model), Bubble Soak technology, AirWash capability as well as a Drum Clean feature.

Why Samsung Pay Outperforms Apple Pay & Android Pay

Bloomberg recently reported that Samsung Pay has less than half the users of Apple Pay5 million versus 12 million. That puts it on the same level with Android Pay, which is frankly impressive in its own right. However, the chart below does not tell the whole story.

Apple Pay vs Android Pay and Samsung Pay | Credit : Bloomberg

Apple Pay has so many more users because they had a year-long head start over its two rivals. If we consider how long they were in the market, Samsung Pay and Android Pay signed up an average of a million users per month. Apple Pay, on the other hand, averaged 706,000 new users per month.

That means, both Android Pay and Samsung Pay are growing 42% faster than Apple Pay.

Why Samsung Pay Did So Well

Samsung Pay only worked with the 5 Samsung Galaxy devices during the survey (the newly announced Galaxy S7 and S7 edge do not count). Yet, they managed to sign up as many users as Android Pay, and sign new users 42% faster than Apple Pay.

That is likely due to the fact that Samsung Pay is easier to implement than both Apple Pay and Android Pay. Samsung Pay works with the old magnetic stripe terminals as well as the newer NFC payment terminals. Apple Pay and Android Pay, on the other hand, only works with NFC payment terminals.

In other words, Samsung Pay works with any credit card terminal anywhere, while Apple Pay and Android Pay will only work at retailers that have upgraded to the new NFC terminals.

Samsung Pay Demonstration

At the recently-held Samsung Forum 2016, we were given an exclusive briefing and demonstration of Samsung Pay. Check out just how easy it is to pay using Samsung Pay. This is why Samsung will have an easier time driving its adoption over their two rivals.

The only downside with Samsung Pay is that it is limited to Samsung’s top-of-the-line Galaxy smartphones. If Samsung adds support for their other smartphones with NFC chips, their adoption would probably be much higher. Here are the 7 Samsung Galaxy smartphones that support Samsung Pay :

In H2 of this year, consumers in Australia, Brazil, Spain, Singapore and the United Kingdom will be able to try out Samsung Pay on their Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

Samsung POWERbot VR9300K & VR9200 Models Revealed

Earlier this month, we attended the Samsung Forum 2016, where we saw the latest and greatest Samsung home technology – all slated for sale this year. What really caught our eyes was a demonstration of the new Samsung POWERbot VR9300K robot vacuum cleaner against the latest LG Roboking robot vacuum cleaner. It was really, really impressive!

Samsung POWERbot VR9300K & VR9200J

Currently, Samsung sells the POWERbot VR9000H (Model VR20H9050UW). That’s the one on the far right. It boasts 20X more suction power than the 3-year old Samsung Navibot SR10F71 robot vacuum cleaner.

Impressive, but Samsung tops that up with the new Samsung POWERbot VR9300K and VR9200J models. The VR9300K boasts a whopping 70X more suction power than the Navibot SR10F71, while the VR9200J has 50X more suction power.

These two new models also feature remote WiFi control using a smartphone, as well as an improved FullView Sensor 2.0 which scans and maps over a 170° arc. All the other cleaning features remain the same, from its Cyclone Force system, 311 mm wide brush and Visionary Mapping Plus system.

Samsung POWERbot VR9300K Vs. LG Roboking

We have no idea which LG Roboking model they used for this comparison, but it appears to be the latest LG Roboking VR6470LVM. Check out its performance compared to the forthcoming Samsung POWERbot VR9300K!

Impressive, isn’t it? The Samsung rep also demoed the use of the Point Cleaning feature. To get the POWERbot to clean a specific area, just point at it using the remote and fire the red LED light on the spot. The POWERbot will clean the area surrounding that lit point.

VR9300K & VR9200J Availability

Both these new POWERbot models will be available in the United States in the Spring of 2016. Global availability will vary from country to country, but expect it to start selling in Q2 2016 onwards.
