Traffic Lights Now Have CCTV Cameras To Catch Drivers?!

Traffic Lights Now Have CCTV Cameras To Catch Drivers?!

Do traffic lights in Malaysia now have CCTV cameras to catch drivers crossing the white line?!

Take a look at the viral claims, and find out what the facts really are!

Claim : Traffic Lights Have CCTV To Catch Drivers!

People are sharing a photo of a JPJ (Road Transport Department) traffic offence fine issued to a driver called Koh Chip Wee.

They claim that he was fined after a CCTV camera at the traffic light caught him stopping his vehicle over the white line. This example warns motorists that they could be fined RM2,000 or jailed for up to 6 months for this offence:

It’s a RM 2K fine or 6 months jail for waiting across the white line at traffic lights monitored by cameras, the notices hv already started going out by post… Cheers

Other people are sharing the photo with this audio message of a man warning people that traffic lights in Kuantan, Pahang, now have CCTV cameras that are designed to catch motorists who stop over the white line.

Truth : Traffic Lights Do Not Have CCTV To Catch Drivers!

This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS circulating on WhatsApp and social media platforms, and here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : You Can Be Fined For Stopping Over White Line

First, let me just confirm that this part is true – motorists may be fined up to RM2,000, or jailed for up to 6 months, if they are caught stopping any part of their vehicles on any zebra crossing, including crossing that unbroken white line at any traffic light.

Mana-mana individu yang melakukan kesalahan boleh dikenakan denda tidak melebihi RM2,000 atau dipenjarakan selama tempoh tidak melebihi enam bulan.

Any individual who commits an offense may be fined not exceeding RM2,000 or imprisoned for a period not exceeding six months.

In other words – this is a serious offence, with serious consequences. You must stop your vehicle before the unbroken white line at all traffic lights.

Most of us motorists never think about this. So this is a timely warning. Please SHARE this warning with your family and friends!

Read more : PDRM Warns It’s Illegal To Stop On Zebra Crossing!

Fact #2 : Traffic Lights Currently Do Not Have CCTV Cameras

The traffic lights currently do not have any CCTV cameras installed to catch drivers crossing the white line, or committing any other traffic offences.

That device you see on many traffic lights these days is an active infra-red sensor. Such infra-red sensors are used to determine the presence of vehicles, for traffic control.

If the sensor does not detect the presence of a vehicle waiting, the traffic light for that lane may skip a turn to allow vehicles using other lanes to go through the junction for a longer period of time.

In the viral photo, the angle of the photo taken indicates that it was not taken by any camera attached to the traffic light. The photo was taken from behind the vehicle and even shows the traffic light itself.

Fact #3 : Driver Was Fined For Running A Red Light

The motorist in this case was not fined for stopping his vehicle over the white line at the traffic light.

If you look closely at the notice, you can see that he was actually fined for running a red light. In addition, he was only fined RM300 for the offence, not RM2,000.

Kesalahan : Gagal mematuhi isyarat merah pada isyarat lalulintas

Offence : Failed to obey red light at traffic light

Recommended : Warning – PDRM Parking Fine Scam Alert!

Fact #4 : Only Known Traffic Light CCTV Camera Was A Test

The only known CCTV camera (with AI technology) that was installed for the purpose of catching traffic offences started operating in Miri on 4 July 2023.

This AI Violation Detection CCTV camera is designed to automatically monitor and record driver behaviour at the intersection, including:

  • collecting data on vehicle speed and details
  • automatically detecting and recording speeding vehicles
  • recording driver offences like using mobile phones, smoking, and not wearing seatbelts while driving

However, this CCTV camera with AI technology was installed as a proof-of-concept trial that will only last 6 months.

The trial period would be six months and the results will be presented to the ministry to decide on the next course of action.

It may be just a matter of time before such cameras are deployed in Malaysia, and other countries around the world. But right now, there really are no CCTV cameras installed at traffic lights to catch drivers committing traffic offences like stopping over the white line.

Did Toxic Fukushima Water Kill Fish In Indonesia?!

Did the toxic Fukushima waste water just kill thousands of fish in Indonesia?!

Take a look at the viral video, and find out what the facts really are!

Claim : Toxic Fukushima Water Killed Fish In Indonesia!

People are sharing a video on WhatsApp, which claims to show thousands of fish in Indonesia killed by the toxic Fukushima waste water. It’s paired with warnings like this:

ALERT: TOXIC SEA WATER HAS ARRIVED AT INDONESIA.

Fishermen are catching more dead fishes than live ones.

Jangan makan ikan dulu. Limbah racun dari jepang sdh masuk ke indonisia.

Don’t eat fish yet. Toxic waste from Japan has entered Indonesia.

日本“毒水” 相信已漂到印尼水界. 食海产可要小心。

Recommended : Did Fukushima Water Kill Thousands Of Fish In Penang?!

Truth : Fukushima Water Did Not Kill Fish In Indonesia!

This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS surrounding the release of treated waste water from the Fukushima NPS, and here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : This Happened In Tuban, East Java

The viral video appears to be recorded on Tuesday, 12 September 2023, at the beach in front of Hotel Purnama, along the Tuban-Semarang road in Tuban, East Java, Indonesia.

Fact #2 : Fish Were Caught, Not Found Dead

The fish seen in the video were not found dead on the beach, or in the sea. Rather, they were caught by fishermen in the area.

In fact, you can see one of the fishing boats at about 0:26 in the video. The fisherman was merely dropping off his catch at the beach, to be collected by the white Bintang Novelita pickup truck seen at 0:13 in the video.

Fact #3 : Only One Type of Fish Was Caught

If you look carefully at the video, you will notice that it only shows one species of fish. Known locally as Jamal Roti or Manyung, it is a marine catfish from the Ariidae family.

This is actually the spawning season for this catfish, which not only causes them to gather, they also rise to the surface, making it easy for fishermen to catch them.

The fishermen caught about 2 tons of this catfish that day. A week earlier, they caught one ton of the same fish.

If there was any contamination killing fishes in the area, there would be an assortment of different fish species, not just one particular fish species.

Recommended : Did Yasuhiro Sonoda Die After Drinking Fukushima Water?!

Fact #4 : Jenu Police Refuted Viral Claim

On Wednesday, 13 September 2023, Jenu Police Chief Rialto confirmed that the large number of fish were not stranded on the beach, but caught by local fishermen.

Fact #5 : Tuban Fisheries Service Refuted Viral Claim

On Wednesday, 13 September 2023, the head of the Tuban Regency Livestock, Fisheries and Food Security Service, Eko Arif Yulianto confirmed that the Manyung catfish were spawning at that time. He appealed to the public to stop believing in unverified information.

Fact #6 : Tuban DKP2P Fisheries Refuted Viral Claim

On Thursday, 14 September 2023, the head of the Tuban DKP2P Fisheries Division, Lingo Indarto, publicly refuted the claim that the fish were killed from the Fukushima waste water.

The fishermen in the video, was identified as called Sutrisno from Karangsari. He said that the fish were all caught at sea, and were healthy and fresh.

Mr. Linggo called for netizens to stop believing in unverified rumours, as they can cause great losses to the fishermen. He is also coordinating with the East Java Province Maritime and Fisheries Service to fight this fake news.

Fact #7 : No Dead Fishes Were Reported En-Route

For the Fukushima waste water to reach Tuban, it would need to travel some 7,000 kilometres past southern Japan, the Philippines, the islands of Borneo and Sulawesi, Bali and Surabaya.

Yet no dead fish were reported elsewhere. How is that possible if the Fukushima waste water is so toxic? Did the evil Japanese design the waste water to only kill fish in Tuban?

Recommended : Did Yasuhiro Sonoda Die After Drinking Fukushima Water?!

Fact #8 : This Is Just Fake News About Fukushima

There is no doubt that Japan is facing a LOT of criticism over its release of the Fukushima waste water, even though IAEA and many experts have endorsed the plan.

However, this is just another example of FAKE NEWS being created around the Fukushima nuclear plant disaster. Here are other examples I fact checked earlier:

Did Larissa Borges Die Suddenly From Vaccine?!

Did fitness influencer Larissa Borges die suddenly from double cardiac arrest caused by the COVID-19 vaccine?! Find out what the facts really are!

Right after news broke that Larissa Borges died unexpectedly from two cardiac arrests, some people immediately claimed that the young Brazilian fitness influencer died suddenly from COVID-19 vaccine.

Steve Kirsch : Lot of young fit people suffering cardiac arrest. Let’s not talk about the vaccine. Brazilian fitness influencer Larissa Borges dies aged 33 after a week in a coma following a double cardiac arrest

Wayne Root : U don’t have to guess. I already know medical “experts” (ie bribed professional liars) will blame cause of death on ANYTHING other than mandated Covid vaccine. We are living in world of propaganda like 1930’s Nazi Germany or Soviet Union.

No Evidence Larissa Borges Died Suddenly From Vaccine!

It’s now tradition for anti-vaccination activists to blame all celebrity deaths or illnesses on the COVID-19 vaccine.

Here are the reasons why this is yet another example of FAKE NEWS created and propagated by anti-vaccination activists…

Fact #1 : Larissa Borges Died After Suffering Two Cardiac Arrests

33 year-old Larissa Borges was a Brazilian fitness influencer on Instagram. On August 20, 2023, she was admitted to the Hospital Arcanjo São Miguel, after suffering a cardiac arrest in the city of Gramado.

She remained in coma for 8 days, before passing away after she suffered a second cardiac arrest on early Monday morning, August 20, 2023. She was laid to rest on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.

Fact #2 : An Autopsy Was Conducted On Larissa Borges

Even though Larissa Borges died after suffering two cardiac arrests, her official cause of death is still unknown. The Brazilian police are investigating her death, and an autopsy was conducted on her body.

According to Rio Grande do Sul Civil Police deputy Gustavo Barcellos, they are waiting for the autopsy results, which can take up to 30 days to complete, to determine her cause of death.

Until and unless the Brazilian police and/or her family reveals her cause of death, anyone who tells you that Larissa Borges died from this or that cause is likely lying to you.

The truth is – we currently do NOT know her cause of death. And there is no evidence that her cardiac arrest was caused by any vaccine.

Fact #3 : Larissa Borges Allegedly Had Drugs + Alcohol Before Cardiac Arrest

Witnesses told police that Larissa Borges was at a party in the mountain resort town of Gramado before she suffered her first cardiac arrest, where she not only had alcoholic drinks, she also took drugs.

There is a report of a possible ingestion of narcotic substances, accumulated with alcoholic beverages.

We will try to search through laboratory tests for substances that she possibly consumed.

Rio Grande do Sul Civil Police deputy Gustavo Barcellos said that the police also interviewed Larissa Borges’ boyfriend, Eduardo Moreira (who is also known as Dudu Personal) who accompanied her to the party.

The police are also reviewing videos from their phones, as well as surveillance videos from the party, to see if they can get a better understanding of what happened.

Read more : Sinead O’Connor : Autopsy To Determine Cause Of Death!

Fact #4 : Unknown If Larissa Borges Was Vaccinated Against COVID-19

Despite claims that Larissa Borges was fully-vaccinated, there isn’t any actual evidence that she ever received the COVID-19 vaccine.

It is possible that Larissa Borges was never vaccinated against COVID-19. After all, the COVID-19 vaccine is not mandatory in Brazil.

In fact, many people who were injured or died suddenly were actually unvaccinated, like Kris Jordan, Aaron Carter, Kirstie Alley, Stephan Bonnar, Shane Macaulay, David Wayne Burleson, and Kaden Clymer.

Until and unless her family reveals her COVID-19 vaccination status, anyone who tells you that Larissa Borges was vaccinated or otherwise, is likely lying to you. None of us know that.

Fact #5 : Vaccine Side Effects Appear Within Hours / Days

Even if Larissa Borges was fully-vaccinated against COVID-19, she would have received her doses over a year ago!

She cannot possibly have suffered from a vaccine side effect, because they appear within hours or days, not months later.

Mild side effects like injection site pain, fever, muscle ache, headache, lethargy develop within minutes to hours of the vaccination.

Anaphylaxis develops within minutes, while other severe adverse reactions like myocarditis and VITT develop within days or weeks.

The spike proteins produced by the COVID-19 vaccines also do not stick around for months. If these spike proteins are permanent (as antivaxxers claim), we would have lifelong immunity.

Your own immune system will identify the spike proteins as foreign, and destroy them within a matter of days, although some may last for up to a few weeks. This is part of how vaccines teach your immune system to identify the enemy and destroy it.

Is There An Ebola Outbreak At Burning Man 2023?!

Are people being quarantined at the Burning Man 2023 festival because of an Ebola outbreak?!

Take a look at the viral claims, and find out what the facts really are!

Claim : There Is An Ebola Outbreak At Burning Man 2023!

Messages claiming that there is an Ebola outbreak at the Burning Man 2023 festival have gone viral on social media.

UAE Exotic Falconry & Finance : EBOLA OUTBREAK BURNING MAN

Ebola outbreak confirmed at Black Rock City, NV. It is recommended that all Burning Man attendees remain in their dwellings until further notice. Current State of Emergency in progress. Learn more: bit.ly/NjMkIRjjH

Died Suddenly : 🚨Developing Story🚨

We are getting reports that there has been a confirmed Ebola Outbreak on the ground at The Burning Man Festival in Nevada.

Attendees have been told to shelter in place allegedly due to all of the flooding, and one attendee has been pronounced dead without a cause of death given.

TrueAnon : How I found out about it. Staying put for now, but reallllllly freaked out

“Yo just figured you should hear from me first. Darrel is crazy sick with something that has him coughing up really coagulated blood. Medic showed up wearing a full suit. No idea where he is now. I would stay inside your camper.”

Recommended : Do You Now Need ETA To Travel To The UK?!

Truth : There Is No Ebola Outbreak At Burning Man 2023!

This appears to be another example of FAKE NEWS circulating on Twitter, and here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : Burning Man Closed To Traffic

First, let me just give you a quick summary of what’s going on at the Burning Man 2023 festival.

The 2023 Burning Man festival started on Sunday, August 27, 2023. However, it was suddenly hit by heavy rainfall on Friday, September 1. Several months of rainfall inundated the area that day.

The heavy rainfall flooded the playa and turned the ground into ankle-deep mud. It quickly became impossible to drive any vehicles on the muck. Even worse – it continued to rain and drizzle over the next few days.

As a result, the organisers closed all roads leading into and out of the Burning Man area, and told attendees to conserve food, water and fuel.

The gate and airport in and out of Black Rock City remain closed. Ingress and egress are halted until further notice.

No driving is permitted except emergency vehicles. If you are in [Black Rock City], conserve food and water, and shelter in a warm space.

More updates to come. Stay safe!

Fact #2 : There Was No Quarantine At Burning Man

Even though the roads in and out of Burning Man were closed, and people were told to shelter in place, there never was a quarantine. That’s because there is no outbreak of any disease, Ebola or otherwise.

People who wanted to leave the Burning Man festival could still do so. They just had to hike their way through the thick mud.

While some 72,000 people remained on site, quite a number of people hiked their way out. DJ Diplo and Chris Rock, for example, managed to hitchhike a ride on the back of a pickup truck after hiking out.

Just walked five miles in the mud out of Burning Man with Chris Rock and a fan picked us up.

If there really was an Ebola outbreak at Burning Man, there would have been a strict quarantine, and no one would have been allowed to simply walk out of the area.

People at the Black Rock Desert site also would not be allowed to socialise. Yet, people there continue to gather and socialise.

Recommended : Did Yasuhiro Sonoda Die After Drinking Fukushima Water?!

Fact #3 : Burning Man Organisers Dismissed Ebola Claims

On Sunday, 3 September 2023, the Burning Man organisers issued a press release dismissing the rumours of an Ebola outbreak:

The online rumors of transmissible illnesses in Black Rock City are unfounded and untrue.

Fact #4 : Bureau of Land Management Dismissed Ebola Claims

The Bureau of Land Management, which oversees the Black Rock Desert site, also issued a statement, dismissing the rumours of an Ebola outbreak at Burning Man 2023.

[We] can confirm the event entrance was closed for the year because unusual rainfall caused muddy conditions where there was a full stop on vehicles, and not for an Ebola outbreak. We have heard no information of any participants with Ebola.

Fact #5 : Burning Man Death Still Under Investigation

The claims of an Ebola outbreak at Burning Man 2023 was also partly fuelled by reports that a man died there.

On Friday, 1 September 2023, a man died at the Burning Man festival, which was confirmed by the Pershing County Sheriff’s Office the next day.

On Sunday, 3 September, Burning Man confirmed confirmed the death in a press release, stating that the cause was “unrelated to the weather”.

Our emergency services department reached a call for service extremely quickly for a male, approximately 40 years old, and could not resuscitate the patient.

The Pershing County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the death, and has not announced the man’s cause of death. However, that does not mean that it was Ebola. Obviously, if it was Ebola, the area would have been placed under strict quarantine!

Recommended : Is Biden Admin Bringing Back FULL COVID Restrictions?!

Fact #6 : Burning Man Attendees May Get To Leave By Today

Burning Man attendees who were caught knee-deep in the mud may get to leave by today – Monday, 4 September 2023.

The organisers earlier said that “the roads in Black Rock City remain too wet and muddy to officially open them for Exodus on Sunday 9/3.

They now say that they “expect to start Exodus on Monday morning 9/4 as long as the conditions improve“.

Obviously, this is only possible because there is no Ebola outbreak, and the ground is drying up enough to support the movement of vehicles!

Truth : Jamie Cail Did Not Die From COVID-19 Vaccine!

It’s now tradition for anti-vaccination activists to blame all athlete deaths or illnesses on the COVID-19 vaccine.

Here are the reasons why this is yet another example of FAKE NEWS created and propagated by anti-vaccination activists…

Fact #1 : Jamie Cail Died Unexpectedly At Home

Jamie Cail was a former member of the US swimming team that participated in the 1997 Pan Pacific Championships, and won a gold medal in the 800m free relay event. She also won a silver medal at that 1998-1999 World Aquatics Swimming World Cup in Brazil.

Shortly after midnight on February 21, 2023, her boyfriend ” left a local bar” to check on Jamie Cail who was at their shared home on the island of St. John. On arrival, he found Jamie Cail was found unresponsive on the floor.

Her boyfriend and a friend took her to the Myrah Keating-Smith Clinic, where doctors indicated that “she was in cardiac arrest” and performed CPR on her. However, Jamie Cail could not be revived, and passed away in the early hours.

The Virgin Islands Police Department was informed of her death-on-arrival, and an autopsy was performed to determine her cause of death.

Fact #2 : Jamie Cail’s Cause Of Death Was Fentanyl Poisoning

On August 27, 2023, the Virgin Islands Police Department announced the official cause of death for Jamie Cail, after the US Virgin Islands Office of Medical Examiner released its autopsy report on August 22.

According to the Medical Examiner’s autopsy report, Jamie Cail’s official cause of death was “fentanyl intoxication with aspiration of gastric content“.

The Virgin Islands Criminal Investigation Bureau said that the overdose was “accidental“, but did not say if it was investigating the source of the fentanyl that led to Jamie Cail’s death.

However, the United States has been hit by an epidemic of death from drug overdoses involving fentanyl. The US recorded more than 100,000 deaths from drug overdoses in 2021, most of which were caused by fentanyl.

Needless to say – the autopsy report completely debunks the claims that Jamie Cail died from the COVID-19 vaccine.

PDRM Parking Fine Email Is A Scam!

These PDRM parking fine emails are scam emails. This was confirmed by PDRM itself.

On 7 August 2023, the Cyber Crime division of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) posted an alert warning motorists not to fall for the MyBayar scam.

These emails are designed to scare its victims into action. Hence, it offers a very cheap way to quickly “settle the problem”. However, if you take a breath, and analyse the email CAREFULLY, you will see many problems with it.

  • Letter is from PDRM : The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will never write to you by email.
  • Letter is in English : The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will never write to you in English.
  • Typo in the name : The fake email used My Bayar PDRM, instead of MyBayar PDRM.
  • Lack of name and personal details : The fake email refers generically to “Dear recipient“, without listing your full name and MyKad number.
  • Lack of vehicle details : The fake email doesn’t mention the vehicle make and plate number.
  • Lack of location details : The fake email does not mention where the offence occurred, or even when it occurred.
  • Fine is much too low : PDRM traffic fines are never as low as RM50. The cheapest fine is RM150 for Category 4 offences, but you can pay as low as RM70 within 15 days.
  • No such law : The fake email refers to the Road Traffic Act. There is no such act in Malaysia. The proper name is the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333).
  • No such section : If you look at the Malaysia Road Transport Act 1987 (PDF download), you will see that there is no such thing as Section 2016-691.

The email appears to be from My Bayar PDRM (typo in the name), but if you inspect the email address, you will see that it was sent by “in-to-no-reply@silverbackgames.xxx” or “hello@sooqr.com” or some other email address.

Obviously, this email did not originate from an official PDRM email address! This should immediately tell you that this is a fake or scam email!

Recommended : How A University Student Lost RM22K In Online Job Scam!

If you click on the Pay My Fine link in the scam email, you will be taken to a fake My Bayar PDRM website (with the same typo in the name).

You may notice that you now have 7 days to pay the RM 50 fine, instead of just 5 days in the email. Odd, isn’t it?

Also odd is the fact that the page does not mention your name, your MyKad number, your vehicle type and model, or even its plate number! The page also doesn’t mention where the offence took place, or the time you were caught committing said offence.

Do NOT proceed after this point… This is a scam website!

But if you have itchy fingers, and click on the Pay The Fine button, you will be asked to pay for the RM50 fine using your debit or credit card.

Needless to say, PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR DEBIT / CREDIT CARD DETAILS!!!

If you provide these scammers with your debit / credit card details and TAC / OTP numbers, they will be able to charge ANY AMOUNT they want to your credit card, or withdraw ANY AMOUNT they want from your bank account!

Recommended : Wedding Invitation Scam : Don’t Install APK File!

It’s even worse if you are asked to log into your bank account to pay the fine. DO NOT DO THAT!

If you provide them with your bank login and password, as well as OTP/TAC number, these scammers will be able to transfer money out of your bank account!

Please note – this is a scam! This is a phishing attack to gain access to your credit card and/or bank account.

Regardless of how you get any notification from PDRM about any traffic offence you may have committed, you should always check the status through these official MyBayar PDRM options:

Did Chinese Driver Get Attacked With Axe For Honking?!

Did a Chinese driver get attacked with an axe after he honked at a Malay driver in front of him?!

Take a look at the viral claim, and find out what the facts really are!

Claim : Chinese Driver Attacked With Axe After Honking!

People are now sharing four videos together with this viral message about a Chinese driver getting attacked with an axe after he honked at a Malay driver in front of him!

Forwarded by another chat group. The Chinese driver at the back horn the malay guy in front. Maybe the malay driver in bad mood took an axe and chopped him.

Be patience on the road and do not horn unnecessary.

I will not be posting the videos, because they are shocking in nature. However, these two screenshots should give you an idea of the violence, and the videos I’m referring to.

Truth : No Chinese Driver Was Hacked With Axe For Honking!

This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS circulating on WhatsApp, and here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : Incident Occurred In Sabah

Let me start by pointing out that the viral videos are genuine, and were not edited. There was a recent incident where a man was hacked with an axe in Malaysia.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night, 9 August 2023, in Likas, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Fact #2 : The Man Did Not Honk At Anyone

The incident did not involve honking. The victim – a 37 year-old man, had earlier parked his car at an open space near Menara Kinabalu – the Sabah state administrative centre.

He was having a meal with his 30 year-old girlfriend in his parked car, when three men approached his car at around 9 PM. One of the three man then proceeded to attack the victim with an axe.

The couple managed to escape to the nearby Alamesra police station to seek help, and lodge a police report. The victim was later sent to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. His girlfriend was not injured.

Fact #3 : Police Are Looking For The Three Men

The police are now looking for the three man to help with their investigation into the case – 37 year-old Withal Jalali, 27 year-old Abdel Jalali, and another man who has not been identified.

Those with information of the individuals or the incident are advised to come forward and report the matter at the nearest police station or contact the investigating officer Inspector Muhammad Khaidir Zakaria at 014-801-961.

Recommended : PDRM Warning : It’s Illegal To Stop On Zebra Crossing!

Left : Winhal Jalali | Right : Abdel Jalali

Fact #4 : The Motive Was Not Road Rage

The man who attacked the victim with an axe is believed to be Winhal Jalali – the woman’s ex-husband.

The woman is believed to have married the suspect in 2015, before they divorced about a month ago. She has known the victim for six months before starting a romantic relationship two weeks ago.

Kota Kinabalu Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaidi Abdullah confirmed the incident on Friday, 11 August 2023, stating:

The man suffered multiple injuries to his face, hands and foot following the attack. We believe the motive of the attack was jealousy.

The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt using a dangerous weapon.

Fact #5 : Victim’s Identity Is Still Unknown

The victim’s identity is currently unknown. The police have not revealed his name, much less his race. Therefore, there is no evidence that he is a Chinese man.

Until and unless the victim and/or the police reveals his identity and race, anyone who tells you that he is a Chinese man is likely telling a tall tale.

Fact #6 : Two Suspects Are Suluk

According to the Kota Kinabalu police, the two suspects who have been identified – Winhal Jalali and Abdel Jalali, are from the Suluk ethnic group.

In other words – the claim in the viral warning that the driver was attacked by a “moody Malay man” is categorically false.

On Saturday, 12 August 2023, the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain announced that the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will conduct roadblocks at strategic locations nationwide, from midnight onwards!

He said that these roadblocks are part of ongoing efforts to prevent crime and ensure public safety through police omnipresence, and unrelated to the 2023 state elections.

This is part of our monthly routine to prevent crimes and is not related to the state elections. Our men will be stationed at various locations to ensure there are no untoward incidents.

PDRM Warning : Watch Out For MyBayar Scam!

PDRM is warning motorists not to fall for the MyBayar scam! Here is what you need to know about the MyBayar PDRM scam!

PDRM Warning : Watch Out For MyBayar Scam

On 7 August 2023, the Cyber Crime division of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) posted an alert warning motorists not to fall for the MyBayar scam.

The MyBayar PDRM scam starts with an official-looking email that warns motorists that they have been caught contravening the law, and offers a cheap RM50 fine if paid within 5 days:

Last notice of contravention before prosecution

Dear recipient,

We are writing to draw your attention to a recent traffic violation in Malaysian jurisdiction.

Our traffic enforcement staff have observed your vehicle parked in a no-parking zone. This contravenes section (no. 2016-691] of the Road Traffic Act.

As a result of this infringement, a fine of MYR 50 has been imposed. This fine must be paid within 5 days of the date of this notification to avoid further legal consequences.

Failure to pay the fine within the allotted time may result in legal proceedings being taken against you, which could lead to increased fines, penalties and the possible suspension of your driving license.

MyBayar PDRM Scam : How Does It Work?!

Many people who received the MyBayar PDRM email might be shocked to find out that they were caught committing a traffic violation, and then relieved that it was only RM50 if they paid quickly.

That’s how the scammers trap their victims – by offering a cheap RM50 fine, when we all know that fines for traffic offences are at least RM150, and can go all the way up to RM1,000!

Those who received this fake MyBayar PDRM email would be tempted to quickly pay the cheap RM50 fine, before it becomes a lot more expensive!

But if you take a closer look at the email, you will spot some problems with it:

  • Weird English : The email title of “Last notice of contravention before prosecution” is nonsensical.

PSA : You Still Need Physical Driving Licence Overseas!

Please be warned – you still need a physical driving licence when you are driving overseas! Your digital driving licence is most likely not valid or legal overseas!

Fined Overseas For Not Having Physical Driving Licence!

In May 2023, two Malaysian men were fined for failing to produce their physical driving licences in Thailand.

Both men were stopped by police while riding motorcycles on car lanes in Phuket. When the Thai police officer asked for their driving licence,  they showed their digital driving licences using the MyJPJ app.

However, the Thai police officer said that their digital driving licences were not valid, even though the men explained Malaysia adopted the digital driving licence in February 2023.

In the end, both men had to pay a compound at the police station for not having a valid driving licence.

Even though the incident occurred several months ago, the issue only went viral after the men posted their video in Twitter on 3 August 2023.

PSA : You Still Need Physical Driving Licence Overseas!

Please be warned that even though Malaysia has adopted the digital driving licence (e-LLM) since 10 February 2023, it is only valid in Malaysia, and not overseas!

In the future, other countries will likely accept digital driving licences, but until that happens, you still need to bring and use a physical driving licence while driving overseas.

On 5 August 2023, Malaysia Transport Minister Anthony Loke commented on the two Malaysian men who were fined in Thailand for failing to produce a physical driving licence. He said that the digital licence is only valid in Malaysia.

He pointed out that the matter (of accepting digital licences) was subject to laws in that country, and the ministry has no authority to determine how laws in other countries are enforced.

He also said that the Road Transport Department (JPJ) will continue to issue physical driving licences, so those who wish to drive overseas should apply for one at JPJ branches when renewing their driving licence.

We have no stopped the issuance of physical copies of driving licences, so if they want to drive in a country that requires a physical licence then they can apply for it at RTD counters when renewing their licence.
– Malaysia Transport Minister Anthony Loke

Physical Driving Licence Only Available In JPJ Branches

Truth be told – this was already mentioned when the digital driving licence was adopted in February 2023. This was what I pointed out back then:

JPJ will continue to offer the physical driving licence to motorists who still prefer it, or need one to drive overseas.

But understandably, many of us probably missed that part. Or forgot that foreign governments may not readily accept the new digital driving licence.

While I’m here, I should also point out that the physical driving licence is now available only at JPJ branches. This may be a bit of a hassle, since it used to be available in Pos Malaysia branches too.

But the good news is – you can now renew your driving licence for 10 years, with a 10% discount to boot! So this should be a once-in-a-decade hassle.

PDRM Warning : It’s Illegal To Stop On Zebra Crossing!

PDRM is warning motorists not to stop their vehicles on any zebra crossing, or be subject to a fine of up to RM2,000, or 6 month’s jail!

PDRM Warning : It’s Illegal To Stop On Zebra Crossing!

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is warning motorists not to stop their vehicles on any zebra crossing, or be subject to a fine of up to RM2,000, or 6 month’s jail!

On 28 July 2023, PDRM’s Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (JSPT) announced that it would initiate a nationwide operation to enforce traffic laws under Op Pematuhan Peraturan Lala Lintas (Traffic Regulations Enforcement Operation).

One of the operations it is now carrying out is to enforce Rule 38 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959, which prohibits motorists from stopping their vehicles on any zebra crossing, unless it is out of their control – they are blocked by other vehicles from moving out of the way, or if it is necessary to prevent an accident.

OP PEMATUHAN PERATURAN LALU LINTAS

Jabatan Siasatan Dan Penguatkuasaan Trafik (JSPT) Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) pada 28 Julai 2023 telah mengeluarkan satu kenyataan media berhubung pelaksanaan OP Pematuhan Peraturan Lalu di seluruh negara.

Salah satu daripada operasi yang dijalankan adalah Kaedah 38 Kaedah-Kaedah Lalu Lintas Jalan (LN166/1959) – Tidak Boleh Memberhentikan Kenderaan Di Lintasan, menyatakan bahawa ;

Here is the English translation:

TRAFFIC REGULATIONS ENFORCEMENT OPERATION

The Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) on 28 July 2023 issued a media statement regarding the launch of the Traffic Regulations Enforcement Operation throughout the country.

One of the operations carried out is Rule 38 of the Road Traffic Rules (LN166/1959) – Not Allowed To Stop Vehicles At Crossings, which state that;

– The driver must not cause the vehicle or any part of the vehicle to stop in the crossing area unless he is prohibited from moving by circumstances beyond his control or if it is necessary for him to stop to avoid an accident.

To be clear – all motorists – whether they are driving a car, a van, or riding a motorcycle, should not cross the white line. If any part of their vehicle crosses the white line, that constitutes an offence.

Road users are reminded to obey traffic rules and not stop beyond the white line because this act is one of the causes of traffic jams, accidents and can also disturb other road users.

Fine / Jail If Caught Stopping On Zebra Crossing!

JSPT is also warning that motorists may be fined up to RM2,000, or jailed for up to 6 months, if they are caught stopping any part of their vehicles on any zebra crossing.

Truth : JPJ Did Not Stop Issuing Physical Road Tax Stickers!

This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS circulating on WhatsApp and social media platforms, and here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : Physical Road Tax Sticker No Longer Required For Most Drivers

First, let me just point out that since 10 February 2023, the physical road tax stickers for vehicles in Malaysia are no longer required, except for these vehicles:

  • private vehicles owned by private companies
  • private vehicles owned by foreigners
  • commercial vehicles
  • public service vehicles

Fact #2 : Digital Road Tax Is Optional

When Anthony Loke announced the introduction of a digital road tax or motor vehicle licence (e-LKM) on 10 February 2023, he said that it was optional, and part of the broader digitalisation plan for JPJ to provide a smoother and faster service to the people.

Don’t worry, the digital format is not mandatory. You can still obtain the road tax sticker and physical driving licence from JPJ, if required.

As mentioned in our 10 February 2023 article, the e-LKM digital road tax is OPTIONAL. You can continue request for, and use a physical sticker.

Read more : Malaysia Digital Road Tax + Driving Licence FAQ!

Fact #3 : JPJ Continues To Offer Physical Road Tax Stickers

As Transport Minister Anthony Loke clarified, JPJ will continue to offer physical road tax stickers for motorists who still prefer to use it on their cars or motorcycles.

These printed stickers will be available to all motorists who request for it, at all JPJ branches.

You can still the physical road tax sticker and driving licence. Motorists are offered the option to go digital, or use the physical road tax stickers and driving licence cards.

Fact #4 : JPJ Ordered To Remove Notice!

On Thursday, 3 August 2023, Transport Minister Anthony Loke ordered JPJ to remove the notice posted at several branches, stating that the Road Transport Department was no longer issuing physical stickers for private vehicles.

Anthony Loke said that the directive, which was issued by JPJ Director-General Rospiagos Taha, was due to the non-availability of physical stickers are several branches, and NOT a policy decision.

The (road tax) sticker is still being issued. Several branches ran out of stock and put up a notice on the non-availability of physical road tax, but it is not a policy decision. We took quick action on finding out that branches have run out of stock and will continue to order new stock.

Fact #5 : Digital Road Tax + Driving Licence Not Mandatory In 2023

Both the digital road tax, and the digital driving licence, are OPTIONAL and NOT mandatory, as per the FAQ (Malay | English)

The Malaysia Transport Ministry is giving motorists until the end of 2023 at the very minimum, to register and try out the new digital road tax and digital driving licence.

On Thursday, 3 August 2023, Road Transport Minister Anthony Loke also said that a cut-off date for the full transition to digital road tax has yet to be set. Therefore, the claim that JPJ has stopped issuing physical road tax stickers is categorically false.

But there will come a time when we will transform to fully digital. No decision has been made yet; it would take six months to one year before going fully digital.

According to JPJ, only about 30% of vehicle owners have so far opted for the digital road tax.

Fact #5 : MyJPJ App Not Mandatory Either

Just to be clear – it is NOT mandatory for any motorist to download and use the MyJPJ app either. It is merely “one of the options” to obtain the digital copy of your road tax and driving licence.

It does not matter if you have no physical road tax sticker or driving licence, and are unable to show the digital versions using the MyJPJ app. The enforcement agencies can confirm the status of your road tax and driving licence through their own gadget.

Did Tesla Cars Catch Fire + Explode After Accident?!

Did two Tesla electric cars catch fire, and explode spectacularly, after colliding in an accident?!

Take a look at the viral video, and find out what the facts really are!

Claim : Video Shows Tesla Cars On Fire + Exploding After Accident!

A video has gone viral on WhatsApp and social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter, with people claiming that it shows two electric vehicles, or Tesla cars, catching fire and exploding spectacularly, after colliding in an accident!

AlphaFox : This is what happens when one Tesla catches on fire.

BUDA : Tesla car battery exploding #tesla #elonmusk @elonmusk $TSLA

An incredible video, showing what can happen when two EVs collide. Note that both sides of the freeway have been shut down and there are no fire apparatus present because, once a lithium battery ignites, it cannot be easily extinguished and the fumes are toxic.

Recommended : The Last Video Of Titan Sub At Titanic Wreck Fact Check!

Truth : Video Does NOT Show Tesla Cars On Fire + Exploding!

This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS circulating on WhatsApp, and social media platforms, and here are there reasons why…

Fact #1 : Video Was Recorded In Moscow, Russia

First, let me start by pointing out that the viral video was recorded on the Moscow Automobile Ring Road (MKAD).

Fact #2 : Video Was Recorded In July 2013

Next, you should know that the incident did not happen recently. In fact, it actually occurred on 13/14 July 2013 – more than 10 years ago!

Although the Tesla Roadster was displayed in Moscow as early as June 30, 2010, Tesla never sold any electric cars officially in Russia. Instead, Tesla enthusiasts in Russia imported them in by themselves, through a “Tesla Club”.

Even as late as 2020, there were only about 500 Tesla electric cars in Russia, with 400 of them sold through the Russian “Tesla Club”. Therefore, it is virtually impossible for two Tesla electric cars to be involved in an accident in Russia, in 2013…

Fact #3 : Exploding Vehicle Was A Propane Gas Truck!

The truth is – the incident involved a truck that was carrying propane gas tanks. No electric vehicles were involved.

In the video above, you can see that the propane gas truck driver was speeding, and slammed into the back of a grey van / mini bus that was changing lanes to the right.

The accident caused the 36 propane gas tanks to burst and catch fire. Some of them exploded spectacularly, while others flew around like rockets!

Despite the ferocity of the fire and explosions, no one died in the accident. The truck driver can be seen running away from the exploding gas tanks.

Recommended : Leaked Last Messages From OceanGate Titan Sub?!

Did Tesla Cars Catch Fire + Explode After Accident?!

Fact #4 : There Were Firefighters

The viral video does not show any firefighters, because it is only one minute long. The original video, which is over 8 minutes long, shows Russian police and firefighters arriving on the scene within minutes.

However, it seemed safer to just let the truck burn completely, as the propane gas tanks were still exploding and flying around. In fact, a Russian police car was almost hit by one of those flying gas tanks, and quickly beat a hasty retreat!

Fact #5 : Lithium Battery Fires Are Hard To Put Out

It is true that the lithium ion batteries used in electric vehicles can catch fire, and these lithium fires are notoriously hard to put out. Firefighters generally need to dump a ton of water on the burning electric vehicle for several hours.

That is why it is generally a good idea to simply let the electric vehicle burn itself out, unless the fire is threatening life or other property.

Electric vehicles will burn furiously, but they won’t explode like what was shown in the viral video. Those are, again, pressurised propane tanks exploding.

Fact #6 : Electric Vehicles Are Less Likely To Catch Fire

Electric vehicles can and do catch fire during car accidents, especially when their lithium ion battery packs are damaged or ruptured by the impact.

However, their overall fire risk is lower than internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. According to AutoinsuranceEZ, ICE vehicles are 60X more likely to catch fire than an electric vehicle.

The riskiest are hybrid vehicles – they are 130X more likely to catch fire than an electric vehicle! The much higher fire risk in hybrid vehicles is likely due to the fact they have both a lithium-ion battery, and a gas tank filled with combustible fuel.

Truth : JPJ Does NOT Require Eye + Medical Tests For Senior Drivers!

This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS circulating on WhatsApp and social media, and here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : Eye Test + Medical Report Not Required To Renew Driving Licence

First, let me just point out that the renewal of your driving licence has very few requirements:

  • The driver must not be blacklisted
  • You can only renew your driving licence for up to 10 years.
  • You must provide the following documents:
    – Original MyKad / passport (or copies, if renewed by a representative)
    – Original MyKad / passport of representative (if renewed by a representative)
    – Original driving licence
    – 1 colour photo (25 mm x 32 mm, with a white background)
    – Fee of RM2 per year for Class A/A1)
    – Fee of RM20 per year for Class B, B2 and C
    – Fee of RM30 per year for Class D and above

There is no requirement to undertake any eye test, or provide a medical report, in order to renew your driving licence.

Fact #2 : JPJ Labelled The Claim As Fake News!

A check of the JPJ website and official Facebook page confirmed that the Malaysia Road Transport Department has not announced any additional requirements to renew your driving licence.

There was also no such announcement on the official Facebook page of Malaysia Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

At around 5:45 PM on July 20, 2023, JPJ finally issued a statement, calling the claim it will require senior drivers to undertake an eye test and provide a medical report to renew their driving licence as “fake news“. Here is the statement in English:

VIRAL MESSAGE DISCLAIMER NOTICE

The Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ) would like to inform everyone that the claim that went viral on WhatsApp about Senior Citizens aged 65 and above being required to undergo eye examination and health examination starting in 2024 IS NOT TRUE.

Accordingly, the driving license renewal for senior citizens remains as usual.

In this regard, JPJ advises the public not to be so gullible and to contact the nearest JPJ office to get more accurate information so as not to be deceived.

Recommended : Where + How To Renew Driving Licence In Malaysia!

Fact #3 : PDRM Asked For Fit To Drive Test In 2021

This fake news is likely based on 2021 news reports about a possible Fit To Drive test for senior drivers in Malaysia.

In September 2021, Malaysian police asked the government to consider introducing a “Fit To Drive” assessment system to evaluate senior drivers who are 60 years and older, before they are allowed to renew their driving / riding licences.

At that time, federal traffic police chief Azisman Alias explained that the suggestion to the Malaysian Transport Ministry and the Road Transport Department (JPJ) was based on the number of cases involving senior citizens who were caught driving against the flow of traffic, and committing other offences at traffic lights and road junctions.

We need to assess the capability of senior citizens on the road because of the risk posed to other road users as well as themselves.

There have been several cases involving drivers under the influence of drugs and alcohol. We also see a rising number of cases of driving against the flow involving the elderly aged 60 to 70 years and above.

When the police detained them, it was apparent some of them aged 70 and above had some sort of dementia or senility. Some of them were also found to be not alert to certain traffic conditions.

He suggested, at that time, that the medical fraternity alongside the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) should conduct a study on the possibility of introducing aptitude or cognitive tests for senior drivers.

They (senior drivers) should only be allowed to renew their licences provided they undergo a medical check-up and receive confirmation from a doctor that they are fit to drive, mentally and physically.

He cited developed countries such as the UK, Canada, Singapore and Australia, which have introduced similar tests. For example, senior drivers in Singapore who are over 65 years old must undergo an annual medical examination by a medical practitioner.

That suggestion was met with public uproar. The Transport Minister at that time, Wee Ka Siong, also spoke out against it, calling it discriminatory:

Many drivers far above the age of 70 display greater competence in driving compared to those who are younger.

Simply refusing an elderly the means to drive or ride on the basis of their age or based on isolated or anecdotal evidence is discriminatory

As of July 2023, the Malaysia Transport Ministry and the Road Transport Department have not implemented, or even announced, any such Fit To Drive test for senior drivers.

Recommended : You Can Now Renew Driving Licence For 10 Years With 10% Off!

Fact #4 : Senior Drivers To Voluntarily Surrender Driving Licence

Ultimately, as long as senior drivers have not been blacklisted for committing traffic offences, they can continue to renew driving licences.

This fake news is similar to the 2021 viral claim that senior drivers who are 70 years and above must surrender their driving licences to JPJ.

As Wee Ka Siong, the Transport Minister at that time explained, the Malaysia Road Transport Act 1987 leaves the responsibility to the driver to voluntarily surrender their driving licence if their health is unsatisfactory and may endanger other road users.

Actually, Section 30 of the Road Transport Act 1987 leaves the responsibility to the driver to voluntarily surrender their driving license when they have unsatisfactory health conditions  and may endanger other road users.

Is JPJ Installing AES CCTV Cameras With AI Tech?!

Is JPJ now installing AES CCTV cameras with AI technology to monitor what drivers do at traffic lights?!

Take a look at the viral photo, and find out what the facts really are!

Claim : JPJ Is Installing AES CCTV Cameras With AI Tech!

People are sharing a photo on WhatsApp and social media platforms, claiming that the Malaysia Road Transport Department (JPJ) has started installing AES CCTV cameras at with AI technology.

These new AES (Automated Enforcement System) CCTV cameras are apparently using artificial intelligence to monitor what drivers do at traffic lights, and catch them committing crimes like using their smartphone / mobile phone.

JPJ sudah bermula memasang CCTV A.I AES yang dapat merakam video apa yang kamu sedang buat di Traffik light… yang selalu main Henfon semasa menunggu lampu Hijau… sila berjaga jaga ya.. sekali kena saman jangan cakap tak bagi amaran pula..

Recommended : Fine For Scratching Nose A Wake-Up Call On AI Surveillance!

Truth : JPJ Is NOT Installing AES CCTV Cameras With AI Tech!

This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS circulating on WhatsApp and social media platforms, and here are the reasons why!

Fact #1 : It Was Installed As Proof Of Concept Trial

First, let me just confirm that the JPJ has not initiated any widespread project to install CCTV cameras with artificial intelligence (AI) technology at traffic lights.

The camera was installed as a proof of concept trial, which was launched on Tuesday, 4 July 2023, as “Proof of Concept : AI Violation Detection CCTV“.

The viral photo was issued by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), together with the official press release.

Fact #2 : Camera Was Only Installed In Miri

Only one AI Violation Detection CCTV camera was installed, and it was installed at the Jalan Merbau intersection facing the Bintang Megamall in Miri, Sarawak.

The Sarawak Ministry of Transportation (MOTS) specifically chose that location, because it was an accident-prone area.

Fact #3 : Trial Only Lasts For Six Months

This proof-of-concept trial is only set to last for six months, according to Sarawak Transportation Minister, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin:

The trial period would be six months and the results will be presented to the ministry to decide on the next course of action.

Recommended : Beware – KL Police To Conduct Massive Traffic Op In July 2023!

Fact #4 : CCTV Camera Monitors + Records Driver Behaviour

The AI Violation Detection CCTV camera is designed to automatically monitor and record driver behaviour at the intersection, including:

  • collecting data on vehicle speed and details
  • automatically detecting and recording speeding vehicles
  • recording driver offences like using mobile phones, smoking, and not wearing seatbelts while driving

The objective is to collect data on driver behaviour, traffic flow and volume in addition to vehicle colour, classification, model and make.

In addition, to collect data on the speed of travel and vehicle registration number, automatically detect and record vehicles exceeding the speed limit and record the offenses of drivers using mobile phones, smoking and not wearing seat belts while driving.

Data collected from the system will be analysed to gain a better insight into traffic behaviour, identify high-risk areas, as well as enable data-driven decisions to be made by the ministry and enforcement agencies to improve road safety.

Fact #5 : Such Cameras Are The Future

Even though this is just a time-limited trial run, automatic monitoring and reporting of traffic offences by AI-enabled CCTV cameras are the future, because they allow the police to better catch bad driving behaviour without requiring massive manpower.

As Dato Sri Lee shared, the AI Violation Detection CCTV camera caught a repeat offender speeding on eight occasions within one week at the intersection.

The automatic monitoring of driver behaviour through CCTV cameras is common in China, where state surveillance has long been the norm. Chinese cameras are pervasive, albeit not always accurate.

Still, it is just a matter of time before before such cameras are deployed in Malaysia, and other countries around the world. In other words – this fake news may not stay “fake news” for long…

Truth : There Was No Gopeng-Tapah Landslide!

Fact #1 : Incident Occurred In India

The tragic incident happened at around 5:11 PM on Tuesday, 4 July 2023. However, it did not occur on the Gopeng-Tapah road, in Perak, Malaysia.

This video actually shows a landslide that crushed cars that were queuing up on. the Kohima-Dimapur National Highway in Nagaland, India.

Three cars were crushed, killing two people dead, while three people were seriously injured.

The incident was confirmed by the Nagaland Director General of Police Rupin Sharma, who posted the same video that day, with this warning:

Did African Migrants Just Destroy Historic Alcazar Library?!

Did African migrants just riot and destroy the historical Alcazar Library in Marseille, France?!

Take a look at the viral video, and find out what the facts really are!

Claim : African Migrants Just Destroyed Alcazar Library!

People are sharing a video of the historical Alcazar Library burning, after being allegedly destroyed by African migrants who were rioting in France.

Some also claim that the video shows the National Library in Paris on fire, not the Alcazar library.

Recommended : Is This The Last Video Of Titan Sub At Titanic Wreck?!

Truth : African Migrants Did Not Destroy Alcazar Library!

This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS circulating on WhatsApp, and social media platforms like Twitter, and here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : People Were Rioting Over Nahel Merzouk

First, I should quickly point out that the June 2023 riots in France had nothing to do with migrants in France, whether they are African or otherwise.

People in France were not rioting over migrant rights, but rather, the death of Nahel Merzouk – a 17 year-old French youth of Moroccan and Algerian descent, who was shot and killed by the police in Nanterre on 27 June 2023.

That morning, two Paris Police Prefecture motorcycle police officers saw Nahel Merzouk driving a Mercedes-Benz A Class AMG with a Polish licence plate at high speed in a bus lane.

They tried to flag it down, but Nahel continued to flee, committing several traffic offences in the process. But he was eventually forced to stop due to traffic congestion.

That was when the two police officers got off their motorcycles and ordered him to turn off the engine. When Nahel started to pull away again, one of the police officers fire a shot at him because he claim Nahel was about to run him over. The car continued for a distance before crashing into street furniture.

However, a 50-second video was later released, showing that neither police officers were in danger of being run over by Nahel. A passenger in Nahel’s vehicle also testified that the police officer hit Merzouk with the butt of his gun several times, and the third buttstroke made Nahel release the brake pedal, causing the car to move forward as it was an automatic car.

Those revelations caused a great public outcry and outrage, that quickly turned into protests and riots in many parts of France.

Fact #2 : Rioters Attempted To Set Alcazar Library On Fire

On the night of Thursday, June 29, 2023, rioters attempted to set the Alcazar library in Marseille on fire. They broke some of its windows, and tried to set its entrance on fire.

However, the rioters did not succeed in entering the Alcazar library, or set it on fire. Its entrance was only lightly torched. It was boarded up the next day.

There is also no evidence that the rioters who tried to set the Alcazar library on fire were migrants, or Africans.

Recommended : Is This President Macron Dancing With His Wife 30 Years Ago?!

Fact #3 : Viral Video Is Of Manila Central Post Office Fire

The video that went viral on social media does not show the Alcazar Library on fire. Rather, the video showed the Manila Central Post Office (MCPO) which caught fire on Sunday, May 21, 2023.

The fire started in its basement at 11:41 PM that night, but firefighters had trouble controlling it. It was finally controlled at 7:22 AM on May 22, and finally put out at 6:33 AM the next day, on May 23, 2023.

18 persons were wounded in the incident – 16 firefighters, a fire volunteer, and a civilian. 300 million pesos worth of assets, including national identification cards were destroyed or damaged.

Even worse was the loss of the heritage building. The Manila Central Post Office was a 97 year-old building which was a “classic example of Western architecture that existed between two world wars“.

Fact #4 : French National Library Not On Fire Either

Claims that the video shows the French National Library in Paris on fire are also false.

Elodie Vincent, a spokesperson for Bibliothèque nationale de France, confirmed in an email that the French National Library was unharmed during the Nahel protests and riots.

I should also point out that the French National Library is the largest library in France, not the Alcazar Library.

How A University Student Lost RM22K In Online Job Scam!

Find out how a university student just lost over RM22,000 in an online job scam!

Please SHARE this article to warn your family and friends to avoid such online job scams!

Online Job Scam Are Targeting The Poor + Desperate!

Online job scams have been around for a long, long time. But fake job syndicates have become more active recently, probably because more people are getting laid off, and inflation is eating into our money.

Online job scams come in a variety of ways, but most commonly, you get unsolicited messages through WhatsApp or iMessage, offering you the opportunity to make a lot of money through part-time work, in the comfort of your own home.

This is especially appealing to people who are currently jobless and desperate. Or in this recent case – a university student who is just starting out in life.

I am Shirley , a permanent employee at XXXX Company in the recruitment department. The HR department sent me this number and asked me to contact you to get you to a job opportunity.

Hello! I am Miss Aisyah Binte Ahmed, from The Recruitment Dept. at YYYY Digital, Malaysia. Our company is hiring part-time and full-time online Employees. Can I briefly share the details with you?

Recommended : Scam Alert : How Fake Job Syndicates Operate!

How A University Student Lost RM22K In Online Job Scam!

I had earlier written about how fake job syndicates cheat people of their hard-earned money, but I didn’t realise that these scammers are also targeting university students!

A university student recently shared how he quickly lost over RM20,000 to an online job scam, despite being warned that it could be a scam!

How They Reel The Student In…

These online job scams always start by offering their victims an EASY way to make A LOT of money!

It all started two days ago, when an unknown person asked me if I’m interested in a part time job. I usually don’t decline offers like this because I’m also a student looking for internship or job opportunities.

He gave me simple tasks, like subscribing to YouTube channels and get RM10 for each subscription. I was interested as money did really go to my account.

Then, I was added into a group. They would give these free tasks of subscribing to YouTube channels.

These scammers also know that people are now wary of scams, and will always demonstrate their willingness to pay… at least in the beginning.

And occasionally will provide merchant tasks throughout the day, which you bank in a certain amount of money to them, which was said to help improve crypto merchant’s reputation or some sort, then they’ll return you a good amount of earnings after the task is completed. It takes around half an hour to do so. So for these two days I earned around RM500.

This is how the scammers establish trust with their victims, and convince them to “invest” to get even more money!

Recommended : Watch Out For Telegram Phishing Attack!

The Scam Happens Very Quickly

The “merchant tasks” is when they start scamming you, and the scam occurs very quickly. You may think that you’re earning a lot of money, but you will never see a cent of it.

So here’s where the fishing begins. A merchant task has started. A rule was stated that I must complete all the tasks given or I will not get the money that I banked in before.

It doesn’t matter how little you “invest” in this “merchant task” scheme. Once you are in, they will quickly use your “earnings” to force you to keep paying them!

I chose the least risk package, give RM300 to get RM360. Then, I was required to continue the next task. Same, I chose the smallest amount RM2000 to get RM2600. Again, need to continue the next task, I chose the smallest RM5000 to get RM7000. Then, RM15000 to get RM19500.

Then, RM40000 to get RM52000. At this point, I still haven’t realize it’s a scam. All I’m focussed on is I need to take back the money that I banked in, so I’m just thinking about completing the tasks given.

By The Time He Realised… It Was TOO LATE!

Because the university student was so engrossed in getting back the money he “invested” earlier, he didn’t realise that he was giving the scammers more and more money… until it was much too late.

There’s one trick that this scammer is using. He let me start with a small investment, then proceed with stages. They force me to continue because I want to rescue the money that I put in in the previous task. So it keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Unfortunately, by the time the university student realised his mistake, it was much too late… He had already lost over RM22K!

At that time, I have not enough money in my bank to fork out RM40k. So I panic and find my friend to lend me some money.

Luckily my friend as a sideliner noticed that this is a scam and stopped me. I woke up finding that evervthing was too late. Just like that, two days, RM22300, gone.

Scammers caught on CCTV by hacker

Many People In The Group Are Scammers

As the university student later realised, many of the people in the group are part of the online job scam syndicate. Their job is to give the victims the perception that this is a legitimate job with many people participating.

During merchant tasks, I’m asked to leave the big group and will be joining a small group of 3-4 members. One of the scary parts in this operation after I realize it’s a scam is that, all the group members in the group are actually controlled by the same person.

Out of the 4 members, two might be playing rich vips who will play the highest package, pressuring you to play with more money, the other person looks like a newcomer like me and plays along with me, choosing the lowest package.

Precautions Were Useless

The university student was actually warned by his parents that it could be a scam. He even prepared for the possibility he could be scammed:

Some Precautions | Made While Attempting This:

I was being very careful with this. I shared with my parents on the first night. My parents did warned me about it being a scam, but didn’t stop me from it since I’m earning something. They just ask me to be extra cautious.

I have two bank accounts, so I moved most of my savings such that I have a “small” account and a “big” account, to prevent losses if anything goes wrong.

I also created a new chat account with another phone number solely for this “part time job”. I also made a plan and promise to only invest my earnings, so I cannot touch my savings.

But as German Field Marshal Helmuth von Moltke once said, “No plan survives contact with the enemy“, and the student’s precaution was useless when he got “emotionally invested” in getting his money back, and ended up taking out all of his saving from the “big account”!

I believe we always read about news of scams in Malaysia, asking why are they so dumb, why they fall into these type of scams. Until I’m in their shoes. I was being very cautious taking the above steps and always remind myself to not be greedy, play only the least risk.

The worse part is, when I’m within that situation and cannot think straight. I even use my savings from my “big” account, just because I want to rescue the money I put in.

Recommended : How To Block Facebook Ads + Pay Scammers!

The university student is now “emotionally depressed” and “thinking about suicide” over the loss of so much money. But do the scammers care? No, they couldn’t care less if people commit suicide over the loss of their hard-earned money.

He has also contacted his bank fraud hotline, and lodged a police report. Unfortunately, he is unlikely to ever recover any of the money he lost. But I hope he understands that his life matters more to his family than money, and he can always make back the money as long as he lives.

It’s not just the massive infrastructure that needs to be created, it also requires legislation to be enacted, and considerable manpower and resources to maintain such a system.

That’s why China is leaning heavily on AI and cloud computing capabilities to automatically and quickly censor information it deems “sensitive”.

However, no other country has come close to spending the money and resources on a similar scale, although Russia, Cuba, Vietnam, Zimbabwe and Belarus have imported some surveillance technology from China.

Fact #2 : WhatsApp, Instagram + Facebook Messenger Have End-to-End Encryption

All three Facebook-owned apps now run on the same common platform, which provides end-to-end encryption.

End-to-end encryption protects messages as they travel through the Internet, and specifically prevents anyone (bad guys or your friendly government censor) from snooping into your conversations.

That is also why all three apps are banned in China…

Recommended : Can SIM Swap empty bank accounts without warning?!

Fact #3 : Governments Generally Have No Control Over Those Apps

Outside of authoritarian countries like China and Russia, governments generally have little to no control over social media and instant messaging apps. Even then, their control is generally limited to banning access if they don’t get their way.

The ability to keep conversations and messages safe and private is key to the success of instant messaging apps, in particular. So WhatsApp, Telegram and Signal would never allow governments access to user messages or voice calls, never mind record and monitor them for governments!

In fact, by implementing end-to-end encryption, these companies themselves do not have access to your messages and calls.

Fact #4 : WhatsApp Does Not Have Three Check Marks!

WhatsApp messages only have two ticks / check marks to notify users about the status of their messages:

  • : The message was successfully sent.
  • : The message was successfully delivered to the recipient’s phone or any of their linked devices.
  • : The recipient has read your message.

There is no third check mark, as claimed by the viral message.

Fact #5 : Governments Won’t Tip You About Investigations

It is illogical for WhatsApp to inform you when the government is checking your information, or when it has started proceedings against you.

In fact, it doesn’t make sense for any government to inform you by instant messaging check marks! If the government is charging you with a crime, it will send police officers, not check marks on WhatsApp!

Prevention of Terrorism Act : Does POTA Ban News Sharing?!

Has the sharing of news been banned in Malaysia using the Prevention of. Terrorism Act – POTA?!

Take a look at the viral claim, and find out what the facts really are!

Claim : News Sharing Banned By POTA / Prevention of Terrorism Act

This warning about the Prevention of Terrorism Act / POTA keeps going viral in WhatsApp, and social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. Here is the original warning in Malay, and our English translation in bold):

No more sharing of news posting after this.

Truth : News Sharing NOT Banned By POTA / Prevention of Terrorism Act!

This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS circulating on WhatsApp, and social media platforms, and here are the reasons why!

Fact #1 : Prevention of Terrorism Act Was Passed In 2015

First, I should point out that this is really old fake news. It started in April 2015, and keeps recirculating every few years.

The Prevention of Terrorism Act / POTA 2015 (Akta Pencegahan Keganasan 2015) was passed by the Malaysian government on 7 April 2015, and coincided with the arrest of seventeen suspected militants who were allegedly involved in a terror plot in Kuala Lumpur.

Fact #2 : POTA 2015 Targets Terrorism, Not Politics

POTA 2015 is not meant to target any healthy discussion of politics or political issues in Malaysia. Rather, it’s designed to tackle the threat of terrorism in Malaysia:

  1. To prevent the conduct or support for acts of violence involving terrorist organisation of a foreign country.
  2. To ensure that individual involved in terrorist activities do not escape legislative action.
  3. To ensure that Malaysia’s citizens and its security are not threatened by those involved in militant activities.

Fact #3 : POTA 2015 Does Not Ban Sharing Of News

POTA 2015 does not target people who share news on WhatsApp or social media, even if it’s of sensitive issues. It targets people who are engaged in acts of terrorism, not people who are spreading fake news or criticisms of the government.

Hence, POTA 2015 cannot be used to block people who from sharing this POTA 2015 fake news, which is why the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) had to ask people to stop sharing the fake news, instead of just locking them up!

Even then, people continue to share this fake news about POTA 2015 for the last 7 years on WhatsApp and social media…

Of course, if necessary, the police can use the long-existing Penal Code, and Sedition Act 1948 to prosecute people who share fake news, but that’s another story.

Wedding Invitation Scam : Don’t Install APK File!

Please watch out for the wedding invitation scam, and find out why you should NEVER install any APK file from strangers!

Find out what’s going on, and warn your family and friends!

Wedding Invitation Scam Gone Viral!

A new scam has gone viral on social media in Malaysia – the wedding invitation scam. In this scam, scammers contact their victims on WhatsApp, pretending to send them an APK file as a wedding invitation!

Here is the Malay version of the scam messages, and their English translations.

Wedding Invitation Scam : Don’t Install APK File!

This is yet another example of a Mobile Application Scam, and here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : APK Is Android Installation File

First, it is important to know that APK files are not used to deliver wedding invitations, or photos and videos.

Short for Android Package Kit, an APK file is used to install software in Android devices. Think of it as the Android equivalent of an EXE installation file for Windows software.

Fact #2 : You Should Never Install APK File, Unless You’re An Expert

APK files, by definition, are merely installation files for Android devices. They can be used for legitimate purposes, as well as nefarious purposes.

However, legitimate Android apps are mostly delivered through proper mobile app platforms like Google Play Store and the HUAWEI App Gallery, where they are often scanned for malware before people are allowed to download and install.

Therefore, you should never download and install an APK file outside of legitimate mobile app platforms, unless you are an expert who needs to “sideload” an APK for a specific reason.

Now, this does not mean that only Android devices are vulnerable. Apple is slated to offer the ability to sideload apps too with iOS 17.

Fact #3 : Scammers Use APK Files To Install Malware

In most, if not all, cases where you receive an APK file from a stranger on WhatsApp, Telegram, through email or social media platforms, it is likely to contain malware.

Scammers use APK files containing malware to gain access to your phone. After you install these malware APK files, scammers can do anything – read your messages, steal your photos and videos, gain access to your TAC / OTP alerts, etc.

Recommended : Can SIM Swap empty bank accounts without warning?!

Fact #4 : APK File Scam Not Limited To Wedding Invitations

These mobile application scams are not just limited to wedding invitations, or offers to deliver illicit photos and videos. Scammers have also convinced their victims to install these APK malware files to :

  • book cheap temporary maid / cleaning services
  • book cheap air-conditioning services
  • book exclusive restaurants
  • receive special discounts
  • make investment transactions

Fact #5 : Scammers Use Social Engineering + Stolen Data

It is important to remember that scammers will use a combination of social engineering and stolen / purchased data to convince you to install their APK malware.

They may know your name, your MyKad number, your address and your telephone number. They may even know who is in your family, and even have your bank account or credit card details. All that information can be purchased from unscrupulous sources.

In some cases, scammers have taken over social media accounts and used them to trick the account holder’s family and friends into installing such APK malware files.

No matter who tells you to do it – even if they are your family member or friend, NEVER download and install an APK file.

Fact #6 : Bank Negara Malaysia Warned About Mobile App Scam

Bank Negara Malaysia has long warned consumers about such mobile application scams.

Be wary of clickable hyperlinks that redirects you to a site, or downloads an application to your phone. Banks will no longer send you any clickable hyperlinks via SMS!

Only download applications from your smartphone’s official application platforms (e.g. Google Play Store, [Apple] App Store, Huawei App Gallery).

Fact #7 : PDRM Confirmed This Is A Scam

On Monday, 19 June 2023, PDRM Commercial Crimes Investigation Department (CCID) Director Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf warned the public about this wedding invitation scam:

This new tactic asks for an individual to open the link prepared to receive the wedding invitation. However, that’s the trick to steal information from the public and to make online transfer. The public are advised to avoid getting caught up in any message from questionable sources.

Scam Alert : How Fake Job Syndicates Operate!

Find out how fake job syndicates operate, and how they reel you into their scams, and cheat YOU of your hard-earned money!

Make sure you SHARE this article, to warn your family and friends to avoid the fake job scams!

Fake Job Scams : What Are They?

Fake job scams have been around for a long, long time. But fake job syndicates have become more active recently, probably because more people are getting laid off, and inflation is eating into our money.

Fake job scams come in a variety of ways, but most commonly, you get unsolicited messages through WhatsApp or iMessage, offering you the opportunity to make a lot of money through part-time work, in the comfort of your own home.

Scam Alert : How Fake Job Syndicates Operate!

I personally have received many of such fake job offers, and have always ignored them. But when I saw a sudden surge of fake job offers, I decided to look into it. I also wanted to find out how they worked.

So I took a dive into two different fake job scams last week, and here was what I found…

How They Reel Their Victims In

It all starts with scammers tasked with “fishing” for victims. They will try to contact you by email, Facebook Messenger, SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, or iMessage. Regardless of the method, the hook is simple – we are offering you an EASY way to make A LOT of money!

Once you are suitably impressed, these “fishing” scammers will offer you a simple task to show you just how easy it is to make a lot of money. To entice me, the two scammers offered me a pretty good sum of money for a very simple task:

Syndicate A : Subscribe to this YouTube channel, and send me the screenshot to receive XXXX.

Syndicate B : Like this YouTube video, and send me the screenshot to receive YYYY.

Recommended : Watch Out For Telegram Phishing Attack!

The Fishing Scammer Hands You Over To The Syndicate

After you complete that task, the fishing scammer then hands you off to the actual fake job syndicate, ostensibly for payment. You are asked to contact the company secretary / account manager on Telegram, with a “payment code”.

From what I surmise, the “payment code” is actually the fishing scammer’s referral code – they get paid for every victim they send the syndicate.

This will be your last contact with these fishing scammers. They are off to reel in more victims!

Recommended : Must You Disable Facebook Auto-Fill To Block Scams?!

Syndicate Baits You With Payment

The syndicate secretary / account manager will ask you to register your details with them, but they are not too particular with any details, except for your phone number. If you give them the fake number, they will know because they will check with the fishing scammer using their referral code. But feel free to give them other fake details – they won’t care.

The fake job syndicate will then send you the payment for that “test” job, using a mule account. If you ask them why they are sending you the money through a different company account or even a random person’s account, they will tell you that they have many bank accounts because of daily transaction limits.

Syndicate Baits You With Simple Tasks

The syndicate will then add you to their Telegram channel offering multiple tasks per day. Instead of YouTube channels or videos, you are tasked to very simple tasks like:

  • open a link to a product page on an online shopping platform
  • take a screenshot of that product page
  • post that screenshot to the Telegram group
  • share that screenshot with your syndicate agent

You will breeze through the first three tasks easily, and the fake job syndicate will pay you promptly.

Fantastic, isn’t it? What could go wrong? After all, there are hundreds of other people participating in the same tasks, and getting paid!

Recommended : Can SIM Swap empty bank accounts without warning?!

Syndicate Tempts You With Pay To Earn Scam

At this point, you have done some calculations, and realise that you can easily make good money every day doing these simple tasks.

That’s when the fake job syndicate offers you the opportunity to make some serious cash. But there’s one catch – you need to PAY them to get access to jobs with serious money.

For every dollar you prepay, the fake job syndicate promises that you will get that back PLUS 10% to 30%, within minutes. Just in case you are worried about losing your money, hey, they are offering a refund. Honest!

And how can they offer you so much money for so little work? The syndicate throws in the magic word – cryptocurrency! Of course! That’s the only way anyone can make tons of money easily, with both eyes closed!

Recommended : BitiCodes Scam Alert : Fake Celebrity Endorsements!

Syndicate Pressurises You With Bots

To convince you that they are legit, you will see many people posting screenshots of their payments to the Telegram group. They will also publicly announce how much they are investing. In some cases, they also post excitedly about how much money they already made, and how much they plan to make today.

This is just a charade to make you believe that people are really making money through this scheme. Most of these “participants” appear to be bot accounts, with a few sock puppet accounts. If you monitor these accounts over time, you will see them change names. I even spotted one of these fake participants (mercado livre in the screenshot above) become the Telegram group admin!

The genuine victims are those asking questions in the group like “We have to prepay?” But oddly enough, no one else in the group (except the Telegram group admin) will respond. That’s not how real people behave.

And if you check their receipts, you will notice some discrepancies in their receipts, which suggest that they were edited:

  • transfers within the same bank were labelled as transfers “to other banks”.
  • account numbers are too short / long for that particular bank

The others are possibly genuine receipts (by people who were scammed earlier), with their dates and times changed.

Recommended : 2023 Turkey Earthquake : Fake Photos + Scam Alert!

Once You Pay, It’s Game Over

I managed to get in touch with two victims of this scam, who claimed that once they deposited the prepaid amount, they were ghosted and removed from the Telegram group.

So that appears to be the scam – they bait you with a bit of money, until you are convinced that they are real. Then once you prepay them for the “big job”, they dump you right away.

Your assigned syndicate agent will block you, and you will get kicked off the Telegram group, which often disappears after scamming a few victims. Often, you will find your Telegram conversations with them mysteriously deleted. By then, it’s much too late – you have already lost your money.

To ensure they don’t lose money, they will price the introductory offer low enough to entice victims, but high enough to cover their costs and then some. But they will inevitably score some big fish, which is why the fake job scam persists.

Now that you know how the fake job scam works, please DO NOT get trapped into it! NEVER pay to get a job. It is just a scam!

Did Woman Smash Bottles Of Alcohol In Lawless US?!

Does a viral video show a woman smashing hundreds of bottles of alcohol in lawless US?!

Take a look at the viral video, and find out what the facts really are!

Claim : Woman Smashed Bottles Of Alcohol In Lawless US!

Pro-CCP netizens and the Chinese 50 Cent Army (wumao, 五毛) are sharing this video on Douyin (China’s version of TikTok) and WhatsApp, as evidence of a lawless US.

The video shows a woman smashing hundreds of bottles of alcohol, allegedly in a Walmart store in the United States. It’s accompanied by messages like this:

‘Zero dollar shopping’ can only take away all you can grab. This one, just destroy everything on site.

No wonder Walmart will close 21 stores in 12 US states and Washington DC. Four Chicago stores are among the latest to join the list.

Recommended : Why Did The West Vote Against UN Anti-Racism Bill?!

Truth : Woman Did Not Smash Bottles Of Alcohol In US!

This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS created by pro-CCP netizens, and promoted / shared by the Chinese 50 Cent Army (wumao, 五毛) and its supporters, and here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : This Video Was Edited

First, let me just point out that the viral video clip was edited, presumably to cast a different light on the story.

The video clip was cut short so you won’t see a security officer leading her away. It was also flipped in half the video to extend the video and make it look like the woman was doing more damage than she really was, and possibly to make it harder for people to locate the source of the video.

Fact #2 : Viral Video Was Recorded In 2020

The viral video isn’t new, even though the wumao and pro-CCP netizens are suggesting it just happened. The video was actually recorded at around 2:30 PM on Thursday, 25 November 2020.

Fact #3 : Viral Video Was Recorded In The United Kingdom

While the wumao and pro-CCP netizens are promoting the video as evidence of a lawless US (as opposed to the glorious security of CCP-controlled China), the viral video was not even recorded in the United States!

The incident also did not occur in a Walmart. The viral video was recorded at an Aldi store, in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

Recommended : Are Nazis From Japan Fighting For Ukraine?!

Fact #4 : The Woman Did Not Steal Anything

While the wumao and pro-CCP netizens are promoting the video as evidence of rampant theft (because no one steals in CCP-controlled China?), the woman did not steal a thing!

The woman – 36 year-old Barbara Stange-Alvarez of Swingate, used her arm to sweep hundreds of bottles of alcohol off the shelves at Aldi the aisle containing bottles of alcohol, and started sweeping bottles off the shelves, before picking them up one by one to smash on the floor.

About 90 seconds into her smashing spree, she slipped and fell onto the broken glass, cutting her hand. A security officer from another store arrived and detained her until police arrived. They then took her to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage, where she kicked a security guard in the shin and hurled racial insults at him.

Barbara was charged with criminal damage, racially-motivated common assault, and racially-aggravated public order offence. She was not charged with theft.

Fact #5 : The Woman Was Mentally Unwell

Stange-Alvarez later told the St. Albans Magistrates’ Court that she was “suffering from mental health issues” because she was unable to work during the pandemic. She also said she was not receiving the treatment she thought she should have.

On the day she smashed those bottles, she visited a local mental health clinic seeking help, but was unhappy with the response and “lost the plot”.

On 18 January 2022, Barbara Stange-Alvarez was given a 12-week sentence suspended for 18 months, and required to undergo mental health treatment and rehabilitation, as well as pay Aldi £5,000 in compensation, and court costs of £85.

Recommended : Did American Racist Gang Attack Chinese Business?!

Fact #6 : Walmart Closing 23 Stores Due To Poor Performance

The fake news creator copied the phrase “Walmart will close 21 stores in 12 states and DC. Four Chicago stores are among the latest to join the list.” from a Business Insider article, without actually reading it properly.

The article actually states that, in addition to those 12 retail stores, Walmart is also closing pick-up only stores in Illinois and Arkansas. That’s a total of 23 stores.

Theft at Walmart stores has always been an issue, as Walmart CEO Doug McMillion pointed out, but it does not mean the stores will close because of it:

Theft is an issue. It’s higher than what it has historically been. Prices will be higher and/or stores will close.

Walmart has been quietly closing stores every year since 2019, because they were “underperforming” and had “poor financial performance”.

Fact #7 : This Is Shameless Chinese Propaganda

This is yet another example of Chinese propaganda created by the Chinese 50 Cent Army (wumao, 五毛) or pro-CCP netizens.

All of the wumao articles that I looked at so far have proven to be false… in every instance. So please watch out for such false claims. Here is just the latest dozen,.

Comedian in China arrested + fined US$2.1 Million!

A comedian in China was just arrested and fined US$2.1 million for using a CCP slogan created by Chinese President Xi Jinping in his joke!

China Arrests + Fines Comedian US$2.1 Million For CCP Joke!

In the communist utopia of China, comedian Li Haoshi (who goes by the stage name, House) was just arrested by police after being fined a whopping 14.67 million yuan, which works out to about US$2.1 million!

What dastardly crime did Li Haoshi / House commit to deserve such a massive fine, and arrest? Well, the Chinese comedian simply made a joke using a CCP slogan created by Chinese President Xi Jinping!

The fine was issued by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, which concluded that his show was “a plot amounting to a serious insult to the People’s Liberation Army, and creates a bad social influence“.

We will never allow any company or individual to wantonly slander the glorious image of the People’s Liberation Army on a stage in the [Chinese] capital, never allow the people’s deep feelings for the soldiers to be hurt, and never allow serious subjects to be turned into entertainment.

What a glorious statement indeed by the most noble bureau of culture in China!

The Bureau confiscated RMB 1.32 million in “illegal proceeds” from the entertainment company representing House, and fined it RMB 13.35 million. The company was also banned from performing in Beijing indefinitely.

But that was not the end. On Wednesday, May 17, the Chaoyang branch of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau stated that an investigation was opened against Li Haoshi / House for making “derogatory remarks against the People’s Liberation Army”.

On the morning of Thursday, May 18, the comedian was arrested by the police. There has been no word on his whereabouts since then.

The US$2.1 Million CCP Joke That Made China Mad!

So what exactly was the world’s most expensive joke all about?

During his show in Beijing on Saturday, Li Haoshi / House spoke about how he adopted two stray dogs since moving to Shanghai. He joked that when they chased after a squirrel one day, he was reminded of these eight words:

作风优良,能打胜仗
Good style of work, capable of winning battles

That was a flipped version of the slogan that was coined by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013, when he set out a list of qualities he wanted from the People’s Liberation Army (PLA)

建设一支听党指挥能打胜仗作风优良的人民军队
Build a people’s army that obeys the party’s command and can win battles with a good style of work

In the audio shared to Weibo, his audience can be heard laughing at the joke. Unfortunately, it went viral and caught the attention of Chinese nationalists and then the CCP government.

His joke was deemed to be insulting because “dogs” and “stray dogs” are used as insults in China. It is also common for Chinese netizens to also use insults like “American lapdogs”, for example.

In other words, his joke was perceived to be insulting both President Xi Jinping (who coined the slogan), and the PLA by referring to its soldiers as “stray dogs” that can win battles with a good style of work.

At military parades, especially when Xi Jinping is watching, PLA soldiers will often shout the slogan:

听党指挥,能打胜仗,作风优良!
Follow the Party’s command, capable of winning battles, with excellent conduct!

Recommended : Winnie the Pooh patch : TW’s middle finger to Xi Jinping!

Now, such jokes may be par for the course in many free, democratic societies, but Li Haoshi / House appeared to have forgotten that China under the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is neither free nor democratic.

If he made the same joke using a slogan by Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen, he would have gotten only laughs, because Taiwan is free and democratic. Unfortunately, he made a joke about the CCP and the PLA. Even worse, he made a joke about something Xi Jinping said, and that was the ultimate sin that anyone in mainland China can commit.

Li Haoshi / House and his company were not the only casualties of this expensive joke. Three other comedy companies suspended all of their performances as a result of this controversy :

  • Danli Ren Comedy (单立人喜剧),
  • Owl Comedy (猫头鹰喜剧), and
  • Xiaosheng Comedy Club (笑生喜剧脱口秀俱乐部)

Even more startling – a 34 year-old woman surnamed Shi was detained by police in Dalian city, after she posted a comment online, asking “Why should House be banned? Aren’t all soldier brothers also dog brothers?

This goes to show just how closely the CCP government monitors speech in China, and how swiftly and mercilessly it strikes at people who even deigns to mock its authority.

Did 6 Robbers Attack Man At Segambut KTM Station?!

Did 6 robbers just attack and stab a man at the Segambut KTM station in Kuala Lumpur?!

Take a look at the viral claim, and find out what the facts really are!

Updated @ 2023-05-07 : Added PDRM’s statement, as well as my clarification on the actual robbery.

People are sharing a video on WhatsApp, and social media, which claims to show a man get attacked and stabbed by 6 robbers at the Segambut KTM station.

Segambut. Public transport at night

Recommended : Was Human Meat Found In McDonald’s Factories?!

Truth : That’s Not Video Of Robbers Attacking Man In Segambut!

This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS created by circulating on WhatsApp and social media, and here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : Viral Video Was Recorded In 2022

While people are claiming that it just happened, but that’s not true. This video was recorded at around 10:30 PM on Sunday, 20 February 2022.

This is visible in the original CCTV video. The viral version being shared now intentionally cuts that out, so you won’t know it’s more than a year old!

Fact #2 : The Viral Robbery Happened In Brazil

The claim that this violent incident happened at the Segambut KTM station is utter nonsense.

Anyone who has been to any MRT / LRT / KTM station in Malaysia would readily point out that none of them have turnstiles like what’s seen in the viral video.

The incident actually happened at the Boiúna BRT station in Taquara, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Fact #3 : Victim Was Topping Up His Travel Card

Some people on social media claimed that the man was being robbed after he withdrew money from the ATM machine. That’s not true.

The victim was topping up his travel card at the BRT station, when two robbers came up the ramp to snatch his backpack.

When he fought back, a third robber hiding nearby came to assist the first two robbers. Then three more robbers jumped over the turnstiles from inside the station, and two of them proceeded to stab the victim with knives.

All six men then ran off, as the man stumbled backwards over the turnstile into the station.

Recommended : Did American Racist Gang Attack Chinese Business?!

Fact #4 : The Victim Did Not Die

Some people on social media claimed that the victim died from the stabbings. That’s not true.

The man was injured during the robbery, but was taken to the Albert Schweitzer State Hospital in Realengo for treatment.

Fact #5 : Five Of The Robbers Were Arrested

Five of the robbers were detained by members of the public – two adult males aged 20 and 19, as well as three teenagers – two aged 17, and one aged 16.

Police officers later arrived to arrest the five robbers, and prevent the mob from lynching them. They also seized two knives that were used in the attack.

Fact #6 : Other People Were Robbed Too

This unfortunate man was not the only victim of this gang of. robbers that night. The BRT Operational Control Centre (CCO) raised the alarm when it spotted the gang robbing passengers.

BRT agents rushed to the scene, to find the victim who was just stabbed. Three of the victims later identified the five arrested robbers.

Fact #7 : PDRM Confirmed It’s Fake News

On Sunday, 7 May 2023, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) confirmed that the viral robbery video occurred in Brazil, not Segambut in Kuala Lumpur as alleged.

Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner Beh Eng Lai said that the 41-second video clip titled “Segambut. Public transport at night” was in fact footage from an incident in Brazil last month.

Note : As I shared above, the robbery actually happened last year, not last month. This was confirmed by Brazilian news reports, as well as the timestamp of the actual CCTV video.

Did UN call to decriminalise sex between adults + children?!

Did a UN report call for the decriminalisation of sex between adults and children?!

Take a look at the viral claim, and find out what the facts really are!

Claim : UN Report Calls For Decriminalisation Of Sex Between Adults + Children

People are sharing an article which claims that a UN report just called for the decriminalisation of sex between adults and children!

Here is an excerpt from the long article, for your reference. Please skip to the next section for the facts!

UN report calls for decriminalization of all sexual activity, including between adults and children

A new report from the United Nations has called for all forms of drug use and sexual activity to be decriminalized globally.

Written by the International Committee of Jurists (ICJ), UNAIDS and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the report was released on International Women’s Day, with the goal of guiding “the application of international human rights law to criminal law.” Called the “8 March principles,” the report calls for offenses related to “sex, drug use, HIV, sexual and reproductive health, homelessness and poverty” to be decriminalized.

Recommended : Do Photos Prove Michelle Obama Is Transgender?!

What UN Report Said On  Between Adults + Children : Nothing

This is just another example of FAKE NEWS, here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : The Report Was Released In March 2023

The UN report in question was released on 8 March 2023 by UNAIDS. You can download a PDF copy to read for yourself.

The International Committee of Jurists (ICJ) along with UNAIDS and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) officially launched a new set of expert jurist legal principles to guide the application of international human rights law to criminal law.

The ‘8 March principles’ as they are called lay out a human rights-based approach to laws criminalising conduct in relation to sex, drug use, HIV, sexual and reproductive health, homelessness and poverty.

Ian Seiderman, Law and Policy Director at ICJ said, “Criminal law is among the harshest of tools at the disposal of the State to exert control over individuals…as such, it ought to be a measure of last resort however, globally, there has been a growing trend towards overcriminalization.”

“We must acknowledge that these laws not only violate human rights, but the fundamental principles of criminal law themselves,” he said.

Fact #2 : The Report Was Written By The ICJ

I should point out that the report was written by the International Committee of Jurists (ICJ), which is not part of the United Nations, and is a separate and independent body. So technically, it is not a UN report.

Composed of 60 eminent judges and lawyers from all regions of the world, the International Commission of Jurists promotes and protects human rights through the Rule of Law, by using its unique legal expertise to develop and strengthen national and international justice systems. Established in 1952 and active on five continents, the ICJ aims to ensure the progressive development and effective implementation of international human rights and international humanitarian law; secure the realization of civil, cultural, economic, political and social rights; safeguard the separation of powers; and guarantee the independence of the judiciary and legal profession.

Recommended : Is Hungary Prosecuting George Soros For Holocaust?!

Fact #3 : Adolescence Is Defined As Ages 10-19

Before we get to the crux of the issue, it is important to note these definitions.

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child broadly defines a child as an individual aged 0-18 years, but over time, the UN and the WHO formally defined adolescence as the ages of 10-19.

Fact #4 : Report Referred To Adolescent Sexual Activity

The ICJ / UN report in question referred to adolescent sexual activity, and not child sexual activity.

In the Foreword on Page 2 and the Introduction on Page 7, it was mentioned twice that the report referred to “consensual sexual activities, including in contexts such as sex outside marriage, same-sex sexual relations, adolescent sexual activity and sex work“.

This is repeated for the third time in Part III of the document, where it called for the decriminalisation of “consensual sexual activities, including in contexts such as sex outside marriage, same-sex sexual relations, adolescent sexual activity and sex work“.

Therefore, Principle 16 – Consensual Sexual Conduct, where the report called for the decriminalisation of consensual sexual conduct clearly refers to adolescents, and not children at large.

Fact #5 : Adolescents Are Having Sex

The decriminalisation of consensual sexual activity involving adolescents is critical, because the truth is – many adolescents are having sex.

In its 2013 study of young adolescent sexual activity, the Guttmacher Institute noted that by the time they turn 16, about ⅓ of adolescents have had sex, increasing to nearly half (48%) by 17 years of age, and 61% when they turn 18.

If minimum age of consent laws are not adjusted accordingly, these adolescents may be criminally penalised, throwing their lives and future into jeopardy.

Recommended : Was Joe Biden Caught Groping Girl On Viral Video?!

Fact #6 : Age of Consent In Many States / Countries Is Less Than 18

It should be pointed out that most US states set the age of consent at 16, with Arizona, North Dakota, Oregon and Virginia setting theirs at 15. So adults in most US states are already legally allowed to have sex with children / adolescents, as per UN definition.

Similarly, many countries have age of consent lower than 18, which again, legally means that adults are already allowed to have sex with children / adolescents, as per UN definition.

In all those US states and countries, adolescents who are younger than 18 are already considered to be capable of consent, even though the UN still considers them as “children”.

This has nothing to do with the United Nations, but was decided by individual governments in different states and countries around the world.

Fact #7 : Report Mentioned Minimum Age of Consent

Principle 16 – Consensual Sexual Conduct did not call for the abolishment of any minimum age of consent, which is what those viral claims implied. Rather, it said that such criminal laws should not be biased in favour of any sex / gender, or age of consent to marriage.

In other words – what’s good for the gander is good for the goose too. The law should be applied equally – if the age of consent is set at 16 years, then it must apply to both males and females alike.

With respect to the enforcement of criminal law, any prescribed minimum age of consent to sex must be applied in a non-discriminatory manner. Enforcement may not be linked to the sex/gender of participants or age of consent to marriage.

Fact #8 : Report Never Mentioned Sex Between Adults + Children

Nowhere in the report is there any mention of sexual activity between adults and children. The report also did not call for the decriminalisation of sexual activity between adults and children.

The word “adults” is only mentioned three times in the report, all under a single section:

Principle 17 – Sex Work

The exchange of sexual services between consenting adults for money, goods or services and communication with another about, advertising an offer for, or sharing premises with another for the purpose of exchanging sexual services between consenting adults for money, goods or services, whether in a public or private place, may not be criminalized, absent coercion, force, abuse of authority or fraud.

Criminal law may not proscribe the conduct of third parties who, directly or indirectly, for receipt of a financial or material benefit, under fair conditions – without coercion, force, abuse of authority or fraud – facilitate, manage, organize, communicate with another, advertise, provide information about, provide or rent premises for the purpose of the exchange of sexual services between consenting adults for money, goods or services.

Recommended : Was Paul Pelosi Arrested For Child Porn + Cocaine?!

Fact #9 : Report Only States That Underage Sexual Conduct May Be Consensual

The report did not call for the decriminalisation of sexual activity between adults and children. It only pointed out that any sexual activity involving individuals under the legal age of consent may be consensual in fact, even if they are not consider consensual in law.

In that context, it calls for the enforcement of such minimum age of consent laws to take into account the possibility that adolescents may be matured enough to engage in consensual sexual conduct, and have a right to be heard.

Moreover, sexual conduct involving persons below the domestically prescribed minimum age of consent to sex may be consensual in fact, if not in law.

In this context, the enforcement of criminal law should reflect the rights and capacity of persons under 18 years of age to make decisions about engaging in consensual sexual conduct and their right to be heard in matters concerning them.

Pursuant to their evolving capacities and progressive autonomy, persons under 18 years of age should participate in decisions affecting them, with due regard to their age, maturity and best interests, and with specific attention to non-discrimination guarantees.

In other words – the report did not call for the abolishment of minimum age of consent, but asked that law enforcement take into account the opinions / testimonies of the adolescents in question, rather than just applying the law blindly.

Did Secret Service arrest people for protesting Biden?!

Did the US Secret Service arrest people just because they were protesting as the Joe Biden motorcade passed by?!

Take a look at the viral claims, and find out what the facts really are!

Claim : Secret Service Arrested People For Protesting Joe Biden Motorcade!

People are sharing a video clip of US Secret Service agents wrestling a protestor to the ground, and arresting her for protesting while a motorcade with President Joe Biden passed by, with accompanying comments like:

The Secret Service arrested protesters who were demonstrating as the Biden motorcade passed by.
Imagine if this happened in China..!

Western media will endlessly report on the brutality of the Chinese police… 😡

Recommended : China Unveils New Incentives For Wumao + CCP Uncles!

Truth : Secret Service Did NOT Arrest People For Protesting Joe Biden Motorcade!

This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS created by Chinese 50 Cent Army (wumao, 五毛) or pro-CCP netizens and groups, and here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : Video Was Taken On June 8, 2022

This video is being shared by pro-CCP netizens in April 2023, it is actually more than two years old.

The video was recorded on June 8, 2022, as President Joe Biden was being driven in a motorcade to the LA Convention Center for the Summit of the Americas.

The video and photos of that incident were published by many news organisations, including CBS News, Fox News, NBC, Daily Mail, New York Post, etc. so this is easily verified by a simple online search.

Fact #2 : Protestor Was Arrested For Approaching Motorcade

The US secret agent did not wrestle the young woman to the ground for protesting President Joe Biden. She was tackled and arrested, because she broke the security cordon and approached the presidential motorcade.

By walking onto the restricted road into the path of the presidential motorcade, she not only risked getting hit by the passing vehicles, she posed a potential security risk to President Joe Biden and other people travelling in that motorcade.

Hence, the Secret Service agent had no choice but to tackle her, and remove her from the restricted roadway. Secret Service chief of communications Anthony Guglielmi later confirmed this:

Shortly after 5pm, an adult female entered a restricted roadway along a motorcade route on Chick Hearn Ct in Los Angeles.

As the woman approached passing vehicles, a United States Secret Service agent swiftly removed her from the roadway and placed her into custody.

There was no impact to the motorcade movement or our protectees. Our investigation into this incident is ongoing.

Recommended : Was TikTok CEO Denied Recess In US Hearing?!

Fact #3 : Summit of the Americas Protestors Were Not Arrested

In the United States of America, people have the right to protest. It is enshrined in the First Amendment of its Constitution, which states:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The First Amendment not only guarantees freedom of religion and speech, it also guarantees the right to assemble and protest peacefully.

Like many major international events, the 2022 Summit of the Americas saw people from different camps coming out to protest.

One group protested President Joe Biden’s decision to exclude Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela from the event, while the other group were there to counter-protest in agreement with the president.

Fact #4 : She Was Not Protesting President Joe Biden

Ironically, the protestor who was wrestled to the ground was not even protesting the Summit of the Americas. Neither was she protesting against President Joe Biden.

She was just a pro-choice activist who was incensed by a leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion to overturn the landmark Roe v Wade decision on abortion rights. She was heard screaming, “An abortion ban will not stop abortions – only safe ones.

The Biden Administration is pro-choice, and is in favour of abortion rights. So the claim that she was protesting President Joe Biden is nonsense.

Even if she was protesting Joe Biden, she would not have been arrested if she did not breach the security cordon surrounding the presidential motorcade.

Recommended : Does CGTN Video Prove US Blew Up Nord Stream?!

Fact #5 : China Often Arrests Protestors

It is extremely hypocritical for pro-CCP netizens to share this fake news, because China often arrests people who protest. Even something as innocuous as putting up a protest banner can get you arrested.

Take for example, the famous Bridge Man. On Thursday, 13 October 2022, a man was quickly arrested after he strung banners across a bridge in Beijing that accused President Xi Jinping of being a dictator.

Needless to say, people who actually participate in a protest are quickly arrested by Chinese police, as the photo below shows – that man was arrested for protesting COVID-19 restrictions in Shanghai on 27 November 2022.

Even online dissent is firmly and quickly quashed. Anything remotely sensitive is quickly censored, and the user’s account either suspended or deleted. People who make controversial comments are also often called up by the police, and may be arrested for making them.

Fact #6 : This Is Just Chinese Propaganda

This appears to be yet another example of Chinese propaganda created by the infamous Chinese 50 Cent Army (wumao, 五毛), or pro-CCP netizens.
