Guangzhou Patients Must Be COVID Negative For Admission?!

The city of Guangzhou has apparently reinstated the Chinese COVID-19 Health Code requirements from 2 December 2023 onwards.

In a video translated and posted by Jennifer Zeng (archive), the Deputy Director and Spokesperson for the Guangzhou Health Commission Zhang Yi appears to announce an immediate requirement for patients and their caregivers to present a Green Health Code, in order to enter all types of medical institutions.

Effective immediately, patients visiting all levels and types of medical institutions in Guangzhou City and its districts must present a green health code for entry. Dec 2, Guangzhou, Guangdong.

Zhang Yi : From now on, all levels & types of medical institutions in Guangzhou City & its districts for outpatient and emergency department visits will require a green health code for entry.

Bizarrely, patients and their caregivers are expected to undertake PCR nuclei tests for COVID-19, and show a negative test result within the past 24 hours to gain admission!

Zhang Yi : Newly admitted inpatients and their accompanying personnel must present a negative nucleic acid test result from within the past 24 hours for admission.

Less controversially, she called on fever clinics to operate at their maximum capacity, and conduct nucleic acid (PCR) tests on patients.

Zhang Yi : Fever clinics should operate to their fullest capacity. The role of the previously established 114 standardised fever clinics should be fully utilised.

Strengthen the staffing of medical personnel in fever clinics, optimise the waiting area settings and consultation process.

Conduct nucleic acid testing for visiting patients, and implement graded & categorised diagnosis and treatment.

Not Only Guangzhou Patients Must Be COVID Negative For Admission?

China has been experiencing a surge of respiratory illnesses that have alarmed many people, especially when it appeared to cause pneumonia in many children.

The WHO called on China to provide more information, after health monitoring groups like the Program for Monitoring Emerging Diseases (ProMED) reported clusters of undiagnosed pneumonia in children in north China.

China responded within 24 hours, stating that it has not detected any new or usual pathogens causing this surge of respiratory illness, with clusters of pneumonia being blamed on a bacteria – Mycoplasma pneumoniae which has been circulating since May, as well as influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and adenovirus that have been circulating since October.

While the negative COVID-19 test looks really bizarre, it is possible that the Chinese government has instituted this requirement to prevent these patients, who are already suffering from pneumonia, from being infected with COVID-19 as well.

Even so, Jennifer Zeng reported (archive) that the Chinese Health Code requirement is not just being reactivated in Guangzhou, but for the entire Guangdong province, as well as the Beijing, Sichuan, Fujian, Shaanxi, and Zhejiang provinces!

The health code is a mobile app used by the CCP during the three-year COVID pandemic to control people’s movements. If your health code turns red or yellow, you can’t go anywhere.

But it’s not just Guangzhou. From what we know so far, Beijing, Sichuan, Fujian, Guangdong, Shaanxi, and Zhejiang Province are also implementing it.

So it is possible that the Chinese government at least suspects that some of these cases of respiratory illnesses may be due to a surge in COVID-19 cases.

To be clear – this reimplementation of the Chinese Health Code appears to be limited to patients attempting to seek medical assistance in clinics and hospitals. It does not appear that the Health Code is being reimplemented to restrict other types of movement in China.

However, reports of a surge in respiratory illnesses, and this (partial) reimplementation of the Health Code requirement will likely put a damper on the revival of the Chinese tourism industry. The Chinese government recently implemented visa-free travel for 6 new countries in an effort to boost tourism.

Claim : China Caught Lab Workers Paid To Spread COVID-19!

The Chinese 50 Cent Army (wumao, 五毛) and pro-CCP netizens are now promoting a video as evidence that 250 lab workers were just caught spreading COVID-19 in China for Western countries!

China wonders why there is no end to covid, it turns out that there are 250 laboratory people who are accomplices of the West to spread the virus, have been arrested by the police, it can be confirmed that the punishment is death by firing squad.

Western countries have a cheap & effective way to stop China’s progress. . .

Truth : China Did Not Catch Lab Workers Paid To Spread COVID-19!

This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS created and propagated by the Chinese 50 Cent Army (wumao, 五毛), and pro-CCP netizens, and here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : Video Was Taken From Kuaishou

The original video was posted on Kuaishou – a Chinese short-video platform like Douyin / TikTok, by a user called 水果花花 (Fruit Blossoms) on November 30, 2022.

Fact #2 : Video Was About Fake / Wrong PCR Test Results

My Mandarin isn’t good, but with a ton of help from Chai, I was able to determine that the video was not about lab workers spreading COVID-19 in China.

Instead, the narrator of the video was talking about a person called Zhang Shanshan who is backed by Zhang Hezi (who may or may not be her father) who owns a company which conducts PCR tests.

Unfortunately, the company was found to be falsifying test results, because they can make more money from more testing. Allegedly, that is why whenever they open up a new testing centre, there is a surge of COVID-positive cases.

The video did not mention anything about these lab workers spreading COVID-19, only that they were falsifying or making mistakes in PCR test results.

Here is a rough transcript of what the narrator in the video was saying:

On the 27th (November), Zhang Shanshan was said to be connected to 35 Nucleus Gene Technology, which was related to the incident of PCR test forgeries.

This company is Lanzhou Huaxi, which Zhang Shanshan was the supervisor. Based on the research of netizens, Zhang Shanshan was backed by Zhang He Zi, who owns 62 companies, of which 33 was managed by Zhang Shanshan.

According to info, Zhang He Zi enrolled into China Medical Univerity, specialising in DNA. After his Masters, he setup one of the first DNA test labs in China.

In the recent years, they opened 37 PCR test centers all over China. The strange thing is – wherever they open (a test centre), there will be outbreak in that area. And within a few days of the company registration, mass nucleic acid tests were ordered. Their business was skyrocketed. If there is no dark secret behind this, they must be really good at prediction.

Questions raised:

1. In 2022, sixteen He Zi Huaxi companies were setup. Registration time was within these 3 months.

2. What’s the greatest is – being a new setup company with unconfirmed capital, they managed to dominate the local nucleic test business, which should be an open tender by the government. Within just 3 months, they managed to expand their business empire and predicted the trend of COVID spread. After their business registration, the local city started to have outbreak and mass testing – which was the reason of the Lanzhou test results inconsistency. This is not an isolated case.

If this has become a business, the pandemic will never end. We must break this profit chain in order to have the air of freedom again.

Fact #3 : Arrested Lab Workers Not Accused Of Spreading COVID-19

The lab workers, including Zhang Shanshan, were arrested because they were accused of giving false PCR test results, either intentionally or due to negligence.

They are all from the Chinese testing company called Shenzhen Nucleus Gene Technology Go. which is being accused of falsifying or improperly conducting PCR tests.

To be clear – the lab workers were not accused of helping Western countries spread COVID-19.

Fact #4 : There Were Only 8-9 People In The Video

If you look carefully at the video, there were only 8-9 lab workers who were standing trial in that courtroom.

There is no evidence of 250 lab workers being arrested in China for falsifying or mishandling PCR testing, never mind working for Western countries to spread COVID-19.

Fact #4 : Shenzhen Nucleus Gene Technology Co Is Under Investigation

Shenzhen Nucleus Gene Technology Go. (核子基因科技) is currently in hot water after on-site inspection by local authorities in Lanzhou (in the northwest province of Gansu) found inconsistencies in their PCR test results.

On November 25, 2022, the Lanzhou Municipal Health Commission reported that when they transferred people who tested positive in tests conducted by Nucleus Gene, some of them had green health codes which meant that their PCR test was negative.

Their investigation found that the staff of the Lanzhou Huaxi laboratory (华曦医学检验灾验室, owned by Nucleus Gene) mistakenly entered the wrong information into the health code database.

Fact #5 : Nucleus Gene Accused Of Multiple Crimes

Chinese media outlets have accused Nucleus Gene of crimes like manipulating test results to create demand for more tests.

Since April 2020, Nucleus Gene has been fined at least 10 times for mishandling test samples to lying and manipulating test results, as well as forging medical certifications.

Nucleus Gene was also fined for hiring unqualified personnel to handle test samples, and wrongly labelling people as COVID-19 positive.

Fact #6 : Zhang Shanshan Allegedly Supervises 38 Testing Companies

After recent Nucleus Gene testing controversy came to light, Chinese netizens began looking into its supervisor, Zhang Shanshan.

They found that Zhang Shanshan allegedly supervises 35-38 medical testing companies across China, most of them only registered in recent months.

In fact, the Lanzhou Huaxi laboratory was only registered in August 2022, with a capital of 10 million yuan (US$1.4 million), and immediately secured a large contract to provide PCR testing in Lanzhou.

Netizens joked that, “Where her company is found, that’s where a pandemic breaks out!”, and “Give an umbrella seller the ability to make rain, will the rain stop?”.

While it is not confirmed, Zhang Shanshan is allegedly the daughter of Zhang Hezi, who owns Nucleus Gene – the parent company which was established in Shenzhen in 2012.

He [Zhang Hezi] told us himself that he had a daughter who was studying abroad. He didn’t say what his daughter’s name was. My friends said his daughter’s name is Zhang Shanshan.

Fact #7 : This Is Just Chinese Propaganda

This is just another example of Chinese propaganda created by the infamous Chinese 50 Cent Army (wumao, 五毛).

All of the wumao articles and videos that I looked at so far have proven to be false… at every instance. So please watch out for such false claims.

Monkeypox : What You Need To Know

People are now worried about the rapid spread of monkeypox globally, with cases in at least 20 countries outside of Africa.

Here are some facts about monkeypox that you should know…

Monkeypox Is Different From COVID-19

First, let me just clearly state this – the monkeypox virus is completely different from the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19.

The monkeypox virus is a double-stranded DNA virus from the Orthopoxvirus genus in the Poxviridae family. It is closely related to the smallpox virus (variola)

The SARS-CoV-2 virus is a single-stranded RNA virus from the Betacoronavirus genus in the Coronaviridae family. It is closely related to the SARS virus (SARS-CoV-1).

Monkeypox Is A Zoonotic Disease

Monkeypox is a zoonotic disease that is primarily carried and spread by animals, especially primates.

It was first discovered in monkeys in 1958, giving rise to the name – monkeypox. The first human case was only reported in 1970.

Monkeypox Is Getting More Common

The monkeypox virus used to be a relatively rare zoonotic virus, with about 400 human infections reported from 1970 to 1986 that were mostly limited to Central and West Africa.

It is becoming more common though, with 2000 cases per year reported between 2011 and 2014. Several small outbreaks in the US (2003 and 2021), UK (2018 and 2021), and Singapore (2019) were also reported.

In the current 2022 outbreak, over 200 confirmed cases of monkeypox have been reported in 21 countries.

Monkeypox : Transmission, Mortality + Disease Progression

Monkeypox Transmission

The monkeypox virus are generally transmitted through these methods :

animal-to-human : close contact, scratches or bites, or direct contact with bodily fluids
human-to-human : respiratory droplets or contact with bodily fluids or fomites (contaminated surfaces)

The virus enters the body through broken skin and the mucous membranes of the eyes, nose and mouth.

Risk factors for human transmission include sharing the same bed or room with an infected person, as well as having sexual intercourse or sharing utensils.

Monkeypox Mortality Rate

Monkeypox is not as easily transmitted as COVID-19, but has a significantly higher mortality rate depending on the strain :

West African strain : 1% to 3%
Central African strain : 10%

Fortunately, the infections in the 2022 monkeypox outbreak are of the less virulent West African strain.

How A Monkeypox Infection Progresses

After infection, the incubation period is usually 7-14 days, but can vary from 5-21 days.

The patient will start experiencing general symptoms like fever, headache, muscle aches, backache, swollen lymph nodes, chills and exhaustion.

Within 1-3 days though, the patient will develop lesions in the mouth, before they appear on the face and then spread to other parts of the body.

The first lesions appear on the tongue and in the mouth
A macular rash (flat, discoloured) then appears on the face, before spreading to the arms and legs and then hands and feet.
The macular rash will typically spread to the entire body within 24 hours, but is most concentrated on the face, arms and legs.
By the third day of the rash, the lesions will develop into elevated and palpable papules.
By the fourth to fifth day of the rash, the lesions will become fluid-filled vesicles.
By the sixth to seventh day, the vesicles will become pustular (filled with pus).
The pustules will be round and firm, with a depression in the centre, for the next 5-7 days.
By the end of the second week, the pustules will scab over for about a week before falling off.

Only after ALL of the scabs have fallen off is a person considered no longer contagious.

After the scabs have fallen off, the affected skin may appear pale before becoming dark marks, sometimes becoming pitted scars.

Monkeypox : Testing, Treatment + Prevention

Monkeypox Testing

Confirmation of a monkeypox infection is based on the detection of its viral DNA through real-time or conventional polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

The doctor will swab the lesions and/or exudate and/or crusts, which is different from how samples are collected for COVID-19 tests.

Monkeypox Treatment

There is currently no proven treatment for monkeypox infections, which will generally resolve over 2-4 weeks.

Patient care is usually supportive in nature (antipyretic medicine, fluid balance and oxygenation), but in severe cases, several antiviral treatments can be attempted :

Cidofovir and Brincidofovir (CMX001), which have proven activity against poxviruses in laboratory and animal studies.
Tecovirimat (ST-246), which was shown in animal studies to be effective in treating orthopoxvirus-induced disease.
Vaccinia Immune Globulin (VIG)

I should point out that none of these antiviral treatments have been proven to work against monkeypox.

Smallpox Vaccine Can Protect Against Monkeypox

The monkeypox virus is so closely related to the (eradicated) smallpox virus, that the smallpox vaccine can protect against monkeypox.

The smallpox vaccine called JYNNEOS (Imvamune / Imvanex) was earlier proven to be at least 85% effective in preventing monkeypox, and was thus licensed for use against monkeypox. Another smallpox vaccine called ACAM2000 may also be used.

The smallpox vaccine can also be given to those who were just exposed to the virus, to reduce its symptoms.

But please do NOT call up your local clinic to ask for the smallpox vaccine. It has not been available in many countries for decades because smallpox was effectively eradicated in 1980.

Other Preventive Measures

In the absence of the smallpox vaccine, the same measures used to avoid COVID-19 can be adopted to also avoid monkeypox :

Avoid contact with animals that can harbour the virus, particular animals that are sick or have been found dead
Avoid contact with infected monkeypox patients and their close contacts
Avoid contact with objects or surfaces that have been in contact with a sick person / animal
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) while caring for patients – N95 face mask, face shield, etc.
Practice good hand hygiene, washing with soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand sanitiser

Monkeypox Isolation

Monkeypox patients must be isolated either in a hospital or at home, until all lesions are clear with a fresh layer of skin.

Close contact with other people should be avoided until all scabs have dropped off, which usually takes 2-4 weeks.

The Reiner Fuellmich COVID-19 Grand Jury video keeps going viral on social media and WhatsApp groups.

Let’s take a look at what this COVID-19 Grand Jury is all about, and what the facts really are!

Reiner Fuellmich COVID-19 Grand Jury : What Does Video Claim?

There are several variants of the video circulating on social media, and WhatsApp group. Generally about 18 minutes in length, the video shows part of the Reiner Fuellmich COVID-19 Grand Jury Proceeding.

These proceedings, grandiosely named “Grand Jury Proceeding by the Peoples’ Court of Public Opinion, Empowering Public Conscience through Natural Law” consists of multiple 5 videos recorded over 5 days of “proceedings”.

The Grand Jury claims to be “a group of international lawyers and a judge” conducting a “criminal investigation” to present to a jury “all available evidence of COVID-19 Crimes Against Humanity“.

This is yet another example of fake news created and propagated by Reiner Fuellmich and his group of anti-vaccination activists and COVID-19 deniers. Here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : There Is No Peoples’ Court of Public Opinion

The first thing you should know is that – there is no such thing as a “Peoples’ Court of Public Opinion“.

It is merely a grandiose, make-believe name they created for their videos, and people who watch them.

As they themselves explain, “This investigation is of the people, by the people and for the people and shall be referred to as the ‘Peoples´ Court of Public Opinion’.”

By that definition – all websites and videos on the Internet are People’s Courts of Public Opinions as well.

Fact #2 : This Is Not A Legal Court

Lest there be any confusion – this is not a legal court where real lawyers present real evidence to a real jury, in front of a real judge, with real laws and rules governing the process, and real consequences.

As the group themselves admit, they were “unable to find a court to hear the actual evidence in the current system’s courts of law“.

In other words – they could not find a single court in the entire world to take their claims seriously. That’s how weak their case really is.

Fact #3 : Their Judge Was Expelled

Despite claiming to be a distinguished group of legal experts, they could only rope in Rui Fonseca e Castro, a former judge from Portugal.

Rui Fonseca e Castro used to be a judge in Portugal, but was suspended in September 2021 and then dismissed by the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) on 9 October 2021.

The CSM voted to dismiss Rui Fonseca e Castro as a judge for abusing his position as a judge to post videos on social networks to “encourage the violation of the law and health rules” concerning COVID-19.

Fact #3 : It Was Just A Role-Play Game

The whole Grand Jury Proceeding of the Peoples´ Court of Public Opinion by Reiner Fuellmich was nothing more than a role-playing game (RPG).

What you basically have is a group of anti-vaccination activists and/or COVID-19 deniers pretending to conduct an online “Grand Jury” proceeding.

The videos have a small overlay on the lower right corner – Model Proceeding, probably a legal device (e.g. This Is Not Real!) to avoid being sued for misrepresenting themselves.

Fact #4 : They Spend Their Time Role-Playing

Reiner Fuellmich is part of the Berlin Corona Committee – a group that loves role-playing games, probably because they cannot do anything real.

I covered their BasisCamp role-playing game back in August 2021, where they pretended to be the German government.

They went viral with a video of their announcement of a moratorium against COVID-19 vaccination in Germany, allegedly because there is no longer an epidemic.

Obviously, that did not happen. It was theatrics back then, and it’s just theatrics this time too.

Fact #5 : Grand Jury Claims Have Been Proven False

The video being shared is basically Reiner Fuellmich’s opening statement in his make-believe COVID-19 Grand Jury.

In his 18-minute statement, he lists a litany of COVID-19 claims that have long been proven false. Here is just a small selection :

PCR tests cannot detect COVID-19 : false
COVID-19 can be treated with vitamin C and zinc : false
COVID-19 can be treated with ivermectin : false | false | false | false | false | false
COVID-19 can be treated with hydroxychloroquine : false | false | false
Alternative treatments were banned : false | false | false | false
COVID-19 vaccines are experimental : false | false | false | false
COVID-19 vaccines are dangerous : false | false | false | false

After over 2 years of the COVID-19 pandemic, it seems absurd that Fuellmich is unaware of these facts.

Don’t risk your life or your family’s lives on the bad science and misinformation promoted by Reiner Fuellmich and his compatriots.

People are now sharing news that the CDC just “quietly” withdrew the PCR test for COVID-19, after they “quietly” admitted that it could not differentiate between COVID-19 and the flu virus.

HUGE. CDC Withdraws Use of PCR Test for COVID and Finally Admits the Test Can Not Differentiate Between the Flu and COVID Virus

This is BIG NEWS.
On December 31, 2021, the CDC will withdraw the use of the PCR test for COVID testing. The CDC finally admitted the test does not differentiate between the flu and COVID virus.

In preparation for this change, CDC recommends clinical laboratories and testing sites that have been using the CDC 2019-nCoV RT-PCR assay select and begin their transition to another FDA-authorized COVID-19 test. CDC encourages laboratories to consider adoption of a multiplexed method that can facilitate detection and differentiation of SARS-CoV-2 and influenza viruses. Such assays can facilitate continued testing for both influenza and SARS-CoV-2 and can save both time and resources as we head into influenza season.

This explains the disappearance of Flu cases in the US in 2020. It also inflated the COVID cases as Dr. Fauci and the DC elites knew would happen.

Quietly without media attention, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has withdrawn the PCR process as a valid test for detecting and identifying SARS-CoV-2.

“After December 31, 2021, CDC will withdraw the request to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) of the CDC 2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel, the assay first introduced in February 2020 for detection of SARS-CoV-2 only.”

The CDC admits that the PCR test cannot differentiate between SARS-CoV-2 and influenza viruses.

I reported several months ago that the “health authorities” had reached this decision but were withholding its implementation until the end of 2021. They needed the fake test to keep the fear going in order to achieve as much vaccination, and therefore as much profit, as possible.

It is extraordinary that the CDC’s withdrawal of the test received no attention from the media or politicians.

Dr. Kary Mullis, Nobel Laureate and inventor of the PCR process said several years ago that “the PCR is a process. It does not tell you that you are sick.” It was never meant to be a Covid test.

Truth : CDC Did Not Admit PCR Test Can’t Tell Apart COVID + Flu Virus

This is actually a reboot of old fake news from July 2021, after CDC announced that they were withdrawing their EUA (Emergency Use Authorisation) for the COVID-19 RT-PCR test.

The truth is – the CDC did not withdraw the PCR test because it couldn’t differentiate the COVID-19 virus from the flu virus.

It was fake news back then, and it’s still fake news today… and here are the reasons why.

Fact #1 : COVID-19 Only PCR Test Wastes Time + Resources

A patient’s sample is usually tested against a panel of multiple respiratory illnesses, allowing a single PCR test to detect and differentiate for multiple viruses.

Using PCR to test for a single pathogen like the SARS-CoV-2 virus is incredibly wasteful, because another PCR test would have to be performed to test for other pathogens, wasting time and laboratory resources.

However, to speed things up in the COVID-19 pandemic, the US CDC released a PCR test panel in February 2020, that only tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Fact #2 : CDC Only Withdrew EUA For COVID-19 Specific PCR Test

When the US CDC released their COVID-19 specific PCR test, they had to apply to the US FDA for an Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA).

This EUA was necessary to allow patients to be tested for a single infectious agent (the SARS-CoV-2 virus) in a given emergency (the COVID-19 pandemic), because a single pathogen PCR assay wastes time and laboratory resources.

On 21 July 2021, the CDC announced that they would be withdrawing their UEA request for their old COVID-19 only PCR test after 31 December 2021.

To be clear – the CDC was not withdrawing other COVID-19 PCR tests, only their old test.

Fact #3 : Old CDC PCR Test Only Detects COVID-19

The old CDC PCR test for COVID-19 only looks for the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It therefore cannot detect any influenza virus.

But that does not mean it can mistakenly identify the influenza (flu) virus as COVID-19, as COVID-19 deniers and antivaxxers are claiming.

The SARS-CoV-2 virus is a coronavirus – a completely different virus than the flu (influenza) virus. It is not possible for any PCR test to mix them up.

Fact #4 : Labs Asked To Switch To Multi-Analyte Panels

In their 21 July 2021 laboratory alert, the CDC asked laboratories to switch to the many FDA-approved multi-analyte PCR tests for COVID-19 and other viruses.

In other words, they are asking laboratories to switch from a single pathogen PCR test, to a PCR test that can detect and differentiate multiple viruses.

This saves time and laboratory resources, as a single patient sample can be used to test for multiple viruses in a single test.

Fact #5 : PCR Tests Can Differentiate COVID-19 From Flu Viruses

Let me be clear – PCR tests, then and now, can detect and differentiate the COVID-19 virus (SARS-CoV-2) from the influenza (flu) viruses.

The only difference is whether they do it in a single PCR test, or two PCR tests.

If the old CDC panel is used, then the laboratory will have to run two PCR tests to do that. The newer multi-analyte panels allow laboratories to accomplish that in a single test.

Fact #6 : Multi-Analyte Panels Save Time + Resources

The CDC withdrew their EUA for the COVID-19 only test, because the newer multi-analyte panels save time and resources, by testing the patient’s sample for multiple pathogens

This is especially important during the flu season – doctors can quickly determine if the patient has COVID-19, or just influenza, or in rare cases – both of them at the same time!

Fact #7 : CDC Withdrawal Of Old PCR Test Was Covered Extensively

The claim that CDC quietly withdrew their old PCR test is false. The CDC issued a laboratory alert that is publicly available to everyone on the Internet.

The claim that this test withdrawal “received no attention from the media” is also false. The media covered the news back in July 2021, and I even wrote a fact check back then.

Fact #8 : Flu Cases Dropped Because Of COVID-19 Precautions

Flu cases did not drop because the PCR tests no longer detected the influenza virus. They were always detectable through PCR tests.

Influenza is a respiratory virus that spreads through droplets, just like SARS-CoV-2. Therefore, the same COVID-19 precautions – wearing a face mask, social distancing and maintaining good hand hygiene – protect us against the flu as well.

When many people started taking COVID-19 precautions, they were also protected from other respiratory viruses like the flu. Flu cases naturally dropped.

Omicron Variant Warning By RSA Doctors Group Is FAKE NEWS!

Unsurprisingly, this is yet another COVID-19 fake story that is being attributed to the “RSA Doctors Group” to make it more believable.

Here are the facts…

Fact #1 : It’s Recycled Delta Variant Fake News

This viral message is recycled fake news that was earlier claimed to be of the Delta variant of COVID-19.

In one example, it was falsely attributed to the Singaporean doctor, Dr. Leong Hoe Nam.

It was fake news then, and it is fake news now.

Fact #2 : Viral Message Originated From Nigeria

The viral message is a modification of the opinions of Dr. Taiwo Obembe – a public health specialist at the College of Medicine of the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

It has nothing to do with the unnamed “RSA Doctors Group”. RSA refers to the Republic of South Africa.

Fact #5 : Omicron Variant Appears To Be Mild

While there are signs that the Omicron variant is more transmissible, that has NOT been confirmed.

However, there are NO SIGNS that the Omicron variant causes more severe disease, or is more fatal.

In fact, the South African doctor who first alerted the authorities to the new variant, Dr. Angelique Coetzee, said that people with the Omicron variant had “unusual but mild symptoms“, compared to other COVID-19 patients.

Fact #3 : COVID-19 Variants Do Not Skip The Nasopharynx

The Delta variant has “greater affinity” for lung tissues, which means it will more readily attach to and “invade” lung tissues. It is unknown if the Omicron variant has the same affinity for lung tissues.

However, even if that’s the case – it does not mean the SARS-CoV-2 virus of any variant actually skips the nasopharynx as the viral message claims.

The SARS-CoV-2 virus is immobile, and travels through droplets and aerosols that we breathe in. It is not a homing missile that goes in search of a particular target.

As the air we breathe passes through the nasopharynx before it reaches the lungs, that is where most of the virus ends up, and that is why we swab the nasopharynx to detect COVID-19.

Fact #4 : Nasopharyngeal Swab Still Picks Up Omicron Variant

The current standard of obtaining a nasopharyngeal swab to detect the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus still works for the Omicron variant.

In fact, genomic testing to confirm the Omicron variant is performed on nasopharyngeal swab samples.

As explained in Fact #3, the coronavirus is carried by droplets and aerosols that has to pass through the nasopharynx before reaching the lungs.

Unless the patient breathes exclusively through the mouth, the nasopharynx is the best place to obtain samples of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Fact #5 : Current PCR Tests Can Detect Omicron + Delta

Dr. Obembe’s comments were very controversial as scientists around the world confirmed that both the gold standard rt-PCR and Rapid Antigen Tests worked well in detecting the Delta variant.

The rt-PCR test continues to detect the Omicron variant infections, and is how the new Omicron variant patients are being detected.

While Rapid Antigen Test may deliver more false negative results, it is rare for the “gold standard” rt-PCR test to deliver a false negative result, and extremely rare to deliver two false negative results.

Studies are underway to determine if rapid antigen detection tests are impacted in any way by the Omicron variant.

Fact #6 : COVID-19 Precautions Apply To All Variants

The COVID-19 precautions mentioned in the viral message are NOT unique to the Omicron variant. They apply to all COVID-19 variants.
