The 2019 Acer Predator Helios 700 is designed to offer the ultimate gaming experience, with a large 17.3-inch IPS display, and the latest Intel Core i9-9980HK processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 graphics.
Its display has a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, with a 144 Hz refresh rate and support for NVIDIA G-SYNC.
It comes with 32 GB DDR4 memory (upgradable to 64 GB), and two 512 GB PCIe NVMe SSDs in RAID 0 configuration. But you can also add a separate HDD for additional storage.
The Predator Helios 700 boasts a unique HyperDrift keyboard that increases airflow by up to 18.9% through the top of the laptop.
The cooling system features two 4th Gen AeroBlade 3D fans that maximise airflow while minimising noise. Part of it can be seen through the Gorilla Glass panel in the centre.
Pulling out the HyperDrift keyboard also extends a wrist rest, and makes it easier for you to use the keyboard, which incidentally has anti-ghosting capability, and per-key RGB lighting.
The HyperDrift keyboard also improves ergonomics, with a desktop-like feel. In addition, it comes with per-key RGB lighting, anti-ghosting and MagForce WASD keys.
The MagForce keys use analog-like linear switches that trigger actuation on initial press, and increase up to 100% to give players more precise movements in game.
Its large Precision Touchpad is outlined with blue lighting, and features two discrete mouse buttons. Its 17.3-inch IPS display is not only large, it supports a 144 Hz refresh rate and NVIDIA G-SYNC.

NVIDIA SUPER Teasers + Briefing
The new SUPER graphics cards are designed to extend NVIDIA’s performance lead against the new AMD Navi-based graphics cards.
NVIDIA actually started teasing us about its impending launch with this video from 26 May 2019, before Computex 2019 :
That was followed up on 28 June 2019, with another teaser NVIDIA Super video called “The wait is almost over…” with the hashtag #RTXon
Finally, just hours before they unveiled the new SUPER graphics cards, they gave us a cursory briefing :
As you can tell – they were basically not telling us much. That’s partly because the new cards are basically cut-down versions of more powerful but existing GeForce RTX models.
It’s okay. We have everything you need to know about the new SUPER graphics cards!
The NVIDIA RTX SUPER Graphics Cards
NVIDIA announced just three models, two of which replaces existing GeForce RTX models :
The GeForce RTX 2060 survives to remain the cheapest RTX card you can buy, while the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti remains the top-of-the-line RTX graphics card that money can buy.
NVIDIA RTX SUPER Price + Availability
First, these were the official launch and availability dates :
2 July 2019 (6 AM PST) : Soft launch – the NVIDIA SUPER series announced.
9 July 2019 : The 2060 SUPER and 2070 SUPER available for sale. Custom cards revealed.
23 July 2019 : The 2080 SUPER and custom cards available for sale.
The new cards will cost the same, or a little more, than current RTX cards…
NVIDIA dropped the RTX 2080 and RTX 2070 because they were no longer competitive, so this is what the new GeForce RTX 20 line-up will look like :
It looks like everyone posted the wrong TMU count for the RTX 2070S graphics card, giving it an unfair performance lead over the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT on paper.
The GeForce RTX 2070S actually has a TMU count of 160, not 184. This makes it slightly slower than the Radeon RX 5700 XT on paper, instead of being significantly faster in texture fill rate.
The rumoured 2080 Ti SUPER card will use a brand new Turing GPU. However, with no AMD Navi graphics card posing a direct challenge, it’s possible this card may never see the light of day.
If NVIDIA eventually brings it out, it will definitely have more CUDA Cores, more TMUs and probably more ROPs than the current TU102 that the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti uses.
This new GPU will also be “unlocked”, so card manufacturers will have carte blanche to go crazy with it. It will be possible for them to design a card with a 300 watt TDP!
We also expect it to have faster GDDR6 memory, probably 16 Gbps. That would give it a memory bandwidth of 704 GB/s, assuming NVIDIA sticks with a 352-bit bus width.

EVGA will be introducing two variants of their GeForce RTX 2070 Super XC models – the “standard” Gaming (08G-P4-3172-KR) version, and the Ultra Gaming (08G-P4-3173-KR) version.
Despite their different SKUs and names, they have similar specifications :

two HDB (Hydro Dynamic Bearing) fans,
an all-metal backplate,

The only real difference between the two is a slightly longer cooler for the Ultra Gaming version.

Let’s start with the 2019 Acer Predator gaming desktops and monitors launch briefing by Edmund Hoh, Product Manager & Business Development Manager of Acer Malaysia.
The 2019 Acer Predator Orion 9000 + 5000
The 2019 Acer Predator Orion 9000 and 5000 gaming desktops have been refreshed!
The Orion 5000 is now powered by the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 graphics card, while the Orion 9000 has the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card.
They both have a prominent side window that showcases the interior while blocking electromagnetic interference (EMI) levels in check.
They also boast the Acer IceTunnel 2.0 technology, that separates the system into several thermal zones, each with its own airflow tunnel.
The 2019 Acer Predator X35 is the world’s first 35-inch curved monitor that is both G-SYNC Ultimate and DisplayHDR-certified.
It features a 1800R curved VA panel with a UWQHD resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels, with Quantum Dot technology. It also supports 10-bit colours, and delivers 90% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut.
Games will love its 2 ms GTG response time, and high refresh rate that goes up to 200 Hz in overclocked mode.
A DisplayHDR 1000-certified gaming display, it delivers up to 1000 nits of peak brightness, and has 512 LED lighting zones.
The 2019 Acer Nitro VG271U P is a 27-inch IPS display with a WQHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. It supports 8-bit colours with FRC (Frame Rate Control) and delivers 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut.
In addition to support for AMD Radeon FreeSync, it boasts a 144 Hz refresh rate, and 1 ms response time (with Visual Response Boost enabled).
The 2019 Acer VG270 P monitor is another 27-inch IPS display, but with a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It has a maximum brightness of 400 nits, with support for HDR10.
In addition to support for AMD Radeon FreeSync, it boasts a 144 Hz refresh rate, and 1 ms response time (with Visual Response Boost enabled).
Acer is also offering a smaller Nitro VG240Y P model, with a 23.8-inch panel. It has similar specifications to the VG270 model – FreeSync support, 400 nits brightness, HDR10 support, FHD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
The Acer ED322QR curved monitor has a 31.5-inch VA panel with a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, and a 1800R curvature.
While ostensibly designed for programmers, writers and designers, it supports AMD Radeon FreeSync with a 144 Hz refresh rate, and 4 ms response time. <hint! hint!>

The 2019 Acer Predator + Nitro Gaming Laptops Revealed!
Let’s start with the 2019 Acer Predator and Nitro launch briefing by Jeffrey Lai, Senior Product Manager of Acer Malaysia.
Acer Predator Triton 900
The Acer Predator Triton 900 is built around the unique Ezel Aero Hinge that flips, extends or reclines the 17.3-inch display, for four usage modes :
Display Mode for sharing the screen with friends
Ezel Mode for playing games on the touch screen
Notebook Mode for playing computer games
Stand Mode for using the Triton 900 like a tablet!
It is also a powerhouse, with the latest 9th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 graphics, all kept cool by 4th Gen AeroBlade 3D fans.

The newly-refreshed 2019 Predator Helios 700 gaming laptop has a slew of new CPUs and GPUs to choose from, including the new 9th Gen Intel Core i9 and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 or RTX 2070.
It also comes with up to 64 GB of DDR4 memory, and Killer DoubleShot Pro wired and Killer Wi-Fi 6 wireless connectivity.
All that power is convey to the gamer through a large 17-inch Full HD IPS display with 144 Hz refresh rate, 3 ms response time and NVIDIA G-SYNC support.
HyperDrift Keyboard
The most unique thing about the 2019 Predator Helios 700 is the new HyperDrift keyboard. Designed as part of the new Helios 700’s thermal architecture, it slides forward to uncover two additional air intakes for maximum cooling performance.
Sliding the HyperDrift keyboard forward also improves ergonomics – the keyboard is now closer to the gamer. On top of that – its MagForce keys use linear switches that triggers on the initial press, and increase up to 100 percent for more precise control.
It also has two hotkeys – Turbo to quickly engage overclocking, and PredatorSense to immediately access CPU + GPU temperatures, fan controls, RGB lighting and more.
4th Gen AeroBlade 3D Fans
The new Predator Helios 700 also comes with an improved cooling system. It not only leverages the HyperDrift keyboard for more airflow, it also comes with two 4th Gen AeroBlade 3D fans, five copper heat pipes, and the Acer CoolBoost Technology.
The new 4th Gen AeroBlade 3D fans have new 0.1 mm fan blades with a serrated edge, winglets along the top and bottom, as well as a curved fin along the inner portion of each blade. Acer claims this increases airflow by up to 45%!

When it comes to performance, everyone knows what GigaPixels/s, GigaTexels/s, GB/s or even TFLOPS mean. But what the heck is RTX-OPS? And how did the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti get 78 Tera RTX-OPS of performance?

NVIDIA RTX-OPS
When NVIDIA first announced the GeForce RTX specifications, one performance metric that stood out was RTX-OPS per second. It was easy enough to understand the other new metric – Giga Rays per second, but what the heck is RTX-OPS?
Is that a measure of the overall performance of the GeForce RTX card? Or just the new Tensor and Ray Tracing cores? What exactly does it mean to have 78 Tera RTX-OPS per second of performance?

Why NVIDIA Created RTX-OPS
The NVIDIA Turing architecture is quite different from NVIDIA Pascal. Here are some improvements that prevent a direct performance comparison between the two GPU families.
The new Turing SM (Streaming Multiprocessor) can execute integer and floating-point instructions simultaneously, using independent execution units.
Turing-based GPUs have new Turing Tensor Cores that are optimised for inferencing operations, with support for much faster but less precise INT8 and INT4 modes.
Turing also enables real-time ray tracing capabilities for the first time, with dedicated Turing RT Cores.
The performance of these separate components are measured differently. The GeForce RTX 2080 Ti (US | UK | Malaysia), for example, boasts :
Floating-point performance of up to 28.5 TFLOPS (FP16) or 14.2 TFLOPS (FP32).
Tensor core performance of up to 113.8 TFLOPS.
Ray tracing performance of up to 10 Giga Rays per second or 100 tera-ops per second.
So where does 78 Tera RTX-OPS come in?

In a game that uses hybrid rendering – combining traditional shader operations with real-time ray tracing and AI inferencing, the different “engines” in the Turing GPU can work simultaneously. Hence, their depiction of the Turing frame :
This is based on NVIDIA’s analysis of a typical hybrid rendering workload with DLSS enabled.
Deep neural network processing of DLSS using the Tensor cores takes about 20% of the frame time.
FP32 shading using the CUDA cores take about 80% of the frame time.
Ray tracing takes about half the FP32 shading time, but are performed by separate RT cores.
The new integer execution units (independent of the floating-point units) take up about 28% of the frame time.
In a hybrid rendering situation, the performance of the separate engines will not tell us what the actual performance will be. Hence, NVIDIA invented RTX-OPS – a workload-based estimate of the Turing GPU’s overall performance.
This Is How NVIDIA Calculates RTX-OPS (In Detail)
Using their analysis of the typical hybrid rendering workload, NVIDIA derived a formula that they feel will give us a better representation of the Turing GPU’s overall performance.
RTX-OPS is basically calculated using this formula :
Peak FP32 performance (in TFLOPS) x 80% + Peak INT32 performance (in TFLOPS) x 28% + Peak Ray Tracing performance (in tera-ops per second) x 40% + Tensor core performance (in TFLOPS) x 20%
When you plug in the individual performance figures for the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti (rounded up), you will get :
(14 x 80%) + (14 x 28%) + (100 x 40%) + (114 x 20%) =78 Tera RTX-OPS
So that, ladies and gentlemen, is how NVIDIA calculates RTX-OPS! Now you see why it cannot be used to compare the performance of GeForce RTX cards with the previous-generation GeForce GTX cards, or any other graphics cards in the market.

NVIDIA Turing Game Support
The world’s top game publishers, developers and engine creators have announced support for the NVIDIA Turing and the NVIDIA RTX platform to bring real-time ray tracing and the power of AI to gamers everywhere. They include Battlefield V, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Metro Exodus, Control, and Assetto Corsa Competizione.
