The 2018 Lexus LS 500 Luxury Sedan

The Lexus principles are succinctly expressed in a single word – Omotenashi, the Japanese spirit of hospitality. That is what sets their cars apart from the competition – they are more than just a means of transportation.

Chief Engineer Toshio Asahi and Chief Designer Koichi Suga enlisted the expertise of Japan’s master craftsmen in creating the fifth-generation Lexus LS. Beyond horsepower and torque, the 2018 Lexus LS 500 ensconces its occupants in a luxurious space rich in Takumi craftsmanship.

Performance & Handling

The 2018 Lexus LS 500 blends a coupe-like chassis with the spaciousness of a luxury sedan. It is built on the same high-performance platform as the Lexus LC series, and features an all-new 3.5L twin turbo V6 engine, the world’s first 10-speed automatic transmission in its class, and the most advanced Lexus dynamic control system.

Safety

The flagship 2018 Lexus LS 500 boasts a portfolio of active safety technologies to support the driver’s awareness and decision-making under a variety of traffic conditions and contingencies. Included in the Lexus Safety System is the Pre-collision Safety System, Lane Departure Alert with Lane Keep Assist, Dynamic Radar with Adaptive Cruise Control and Automatic High Beam System.

Takumi Craftsmanship

Takumi craftsmen in Lexus have artfully fashioned an interior that features origami-inspired handcrafted pleats, ambient lighting reminiscent of Japanese lanterns, ornamentation based on traditional Japanese Kiriko glass techniques, and the Art Wood grain pattern trim.

Mark Levinson Audio

Omotenashi is also expressed through the Mark Levinson audio package developed specifically for the Lexus LS 500. It  features Quantum Logic Immersion Technology that employs 23 speakers and a 16-channel amplifier to deliver a concert hall-like listening experience.

 

The 2018 Lexus LS 500 Models

For the Malaysian market, three variants of the LS are available – the LS 500 Luxury, LS 500 Executive and LS 500h Executive with a Lexus Hybrid Drive. Customers have a choice of up to 11 exterior colours and 6 interior colours/trims (depending on variant).

The paint finishes include two new colours specifically to showcase the bodylines.

• Manganese Luster adds a highly reflective layer of paint on a base coat with muted brightness as a way of highlighting the shine and expressing a dramatic play of bright and dark, light and shadow.
• Sonic Agate is a passionate red, but with a deep, rich tone that also expresses dignity and prestige.
