LINE Releases egg – a free Selfie App

Kuala Lumpur, 26 May 2016 LINE Corporation has announced the release of “egg”, a free selfie app for iOS and Android devices that allows users to customise their photos and videos.

Selfie App “egg”

egg is a selfie app that gives users a greater degree of freedom to fulfil their creative purpose by providing features such as 3D Masks which perfectly fit on faces to transform subjects into extraordinary characters much like prosthetic makeup, and animated filters which are triggered by subjects through an eye blink or other actions that the app accurately detects.

The rapid growth of social networks and the selfie trend in recent years has led to an explosion of easy-to-use camera apps with customisation features such as filters and special effects that are being used to take selfies for users’ Instagram and Facebook pages. However, unlike other selfie apps, egg not only lets users take selfies, but also play with their selfies in real time.

The app offers 3D Masks in more than 50 categories (such as “Cute animals”, “Beauty”, “Funny” and “Horror”), and even a mask of the latest LINE character, Choco. Combined with various action-triggered filters such as making hearts appear by blinking, or blowing fire by opening one’s mouth, users can enjoy endless customisation possibilities.

Additionally, users can create their own original masks using photos saved on their smartphones, or even swap faces in real-time with their friends on screen. Besides providing the traditional features of a selfie app — uploading selfie photos and videos to social media — egg proposes a new style of real-time communication with family, friends, and partners through selfies.

In future updates, egg is planning to introduce 3D Masks of popular movie characters, new animated filters, and other entertaining features to bring customers even closer together.

Also added to the collection is a filter featuring Batman from the latest movie “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” which was opened in theatres worldwide between March and April of 2016. Additional character-based filters such as that of Wonder Woman are scheduled to be introduced in future updates.

LINE Introduces New Group Call Feature

March 14, 2016LINE Corporation today announced the addition of a new group call feature to the latest version of the LINE app (iPhone and Android v.5.11, and Windows Desktop v.4.5), enabling users to participate in voice calls within their group or multiple person chats.

LINE was released in June 2011 as a group communications service available across multiple devices and network carriers, enabling users around the world to easily keep in touch with friends, family, and coworkers. It launched its free voice call service in October of the same year, and video calls in September 2013, all in an effort to improve the lines of communication between people.

Today, with the release of LINE 5.11 for iPhone and Android, LINE now includes support for voice calls within groups or multiple person chats. The group feature update is also supported on LINE Windows desktop version (v.4.5.)

Free Group Call

The feature offers free voice chats with up to 200 people. Calls can be initiated from within group chats or multiple person chats, and a notification message will be sent to all of the users participating in the chat. The number of people currently participating in the call can also be confirmed from within the chat. An icon is displayed above the user icon of the person currently speaking at the time, enabling users to easily communicate with each other.

The group call feature can be utilized for no charge as long as the user has the LINE app installed, allowing easy communication with a worldwide community of users. The service is perfect for catching up with friends and family, and also for use at work for important conference calls. The possibilities are endless with this tool designed to eliminate the traditional barriers to effective group communication.

[adrotate banner=”5″]

“We are constantly innovating the way our users communicate with their friends and family, and this new feature provides an additional way for our users to be closer to their friends and family. At every update we look towards refining the experience to keep up with our users’ needs and demands,” said SunHaeng Cho, the lead planner for group call.

In addition to the new group call feature, the LINE version 5.11 also has a redesigned More screen. The layout of the menu icons in the user interface has been modified for increased visibility and an even greater user experience. The new layout is available for both Android and iOS.

LINE Corporation will continue to develop new features and services and enhance existing ones in order to make it easier for users to communicate around the world.

New “LINE Creators Themes” Launched

Kuala Lumpur – March 08, 2016 – LINE Corporation has announced the upcoming addition of themes to “LINE Creators Market,” enabling creators to design and sell their own LINE themes, scheduled for late April, 2016.

Prior to the global service launch, the official creation & review guidelines for creators’ themes have been published on the LINE Creators Market site.

“LINE Creators Market has enabled many artists globally, including Malaysia, to share their work with many others. The expansion into allowing creators’ to create their own themes is an extension that enables them to exercise their creativity,” said Patricia Yeoh, Public Relations Manager of LINE Malaysia. “LINE is thrilled to provide this platform that will not only benefit the creators, but enhance the users’ experience to a whole new level as well, especially for Malaysians.”

[adrotate banner=”4″]With creators’ themes, anybody who has a LINE account, be it individual or enterprise, can create LINE themes which, after passing the review process, can be sold to LINE users all over the world through the LINE app’s theme shop and LINE STORE.

Theme prices can be set by the creator at 150 LINE Coins (approximately MYR12.24), 200 LINE Coins (approximately MYR16.33), or 250 LINE Coins (approximately MYR20.42). After handling fees for App Store and Google Play (30%) are deducted, 50% of the remaining amount (35% of total sales) will be paid to the creator.

Creators themes can be based on photos as well as illustrations. Since various graphic elements, such as backgrounds, icons, and menu buttons, are made as separate parts and combined into a set, creators have a lot of freedom in turning their ideas into themes.

Those users who have already created stickers will be able to leverage their own characters into themes, thereby creating more in-depth worlds for their characters, taking advantage of the fact that unlike individual stickers, an interface theme is continuously on display once applied. Artists and entertainers will be able to feature characters or caricatures in their promotional and merchandising activities.

New “LINE Creators Themes” Availability

LINE released the official creation and review guidelines for creators’ themes on its LINE Creators Market official site. Theme submissions for review are expected to commence on April 15, 2016, and the sale of approved themes are expected to start in late April.

Through LINE Creators Market, LINE aims at developing a creator-activity based ecosystem. LINE will continue to move forward with its global platform as an important part of the world’s smartphone based communication infrastructure.

LINE Creators Market is a platform that enables users to sell LINE stickers they have created themselves. The sale of approved creators’ stickers began in May 2014. Participants hail from all over the world and as of today, the number of registered creators has grown to 520,000 users, who have created over 230,000 sticker sets. There are even numerous examples of characters originating from these stickers being merchandised or featured in tie-ins with various businesses, expanding their scope far beyond their original sticker usage.

Foodie – Camera App Dedicated Solely For Food

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – February 25, 2016 – LINE Corporation has launched “Foodie,” a new camera app available for free on both iPhone and Android devices, dedicated to taking delicious food photos. In conjunction with the launch, LINE is rewarding Malaysians and their love for food in the #MYFoodieDiary Contest happening from February 25th to March 6th 2016.

Foodie also offers the basic features expected of a camera app including sharing to social networks like Instagram and Twitter.

To celebrate Malaysians’ love for food and the enjoyment of sharing our meals through photos, LINE invites all Malaysian foodies to snap and share their daily food journey in a more enticing way through the #MYFoodieDiary Contest. Participants will stand a chance to win attractive prizes worth RM1,000 and LINE Gift Packs.
