Dell EMC Ready Solutions for AI + vHPC on VMware vSphere!

Dell Technologies just introduced Dell EMC Ready solutions for both AI and virtualised HPC workloads on VMware vSphere 7!

Join us for the tech briefing on both new Dell EMC computing solutions for VMware, and find out how it can simplify your advanced computing needs!

Simplified Advanced Computing With Dell EMC Ready Solutions

Let’s start with the Dell Technologies briefing on the two new Dell EMC Ready solutions for both AI and virtualised HPC workloads.

Based on VMware Cloud Foundation, they are designed to make AI easier to deploy and consume, with new features from VMware vSphere 7, including Bitfusion.

Dell EMC Ready Solutions for AI : GPU-as-a-Service (GaaS)

GPUs in individual workstations or servers are often under-utilised at less than 15% of capacity. The new Dell EMC Ready Solutions for AI : GPU-as-a-Service fixes that and maximises your investment with virtual GPU pools.

The newest design includes the latest VMware vSphere 7 with Bitfusion, making it possible to virtualise GPUs on-premise. Factory-installed by Dell, VMware vSphere 7 with Bitfusion will let developers and data scientists pool IT resources and share them across datacenters.

Dell EMC Ready Solutions for AI : GPU-as-a-Service also uses the latest VMware Cloud Foundation with VMware vSphere 7 support for Kubernetes and containerised applications to run AI workloads anywhere. Containers make it easier to bring cloud-native applications into production, with the ability to move workloads.

Dell EMC Ready Solutions for Virtualised HPC

Most HPC workloads run on dedicated systems that require specialised skills to deploy and manage. Dell EMC Ready Solutions for Virtualised HPC can include VMware Cloud Foundation with VMware vSphere 7 featuring Bitfusion.

That should make it simpler and more economical to use VMware environments for HPC and AI applications in computational chemistry, bioinformatics and computer-aided engineering. IT teams can quickly provision hardware as needed, speed up initial deployment and configuration, saving time with simpler centralised management and security.

For very large HPC implementations, Dell EMC Ready Solutions for vHPC can include VMware vSphere Scale-Out Edition for additional cost savings.

Dell EMC OpenManage for Dell EMC Ready Solutions

The new Dell EMC Ready Solutions for AI and Virtualised HPC ship with the Dell EMC OpenManage systems management software, which helps administrators improve system uptime, keep data insights flowing and prepare for AI operations.

New Dell EMC OpenManage improvements include :

  • OpenManage Integration for VMware vCenter, supporting vSphere Lifecycle Manager, automates software, driver and firmware updates holistically to save time and simplify operations.
  • The enhanced OpenManage Mobile app gives administrators the ability to view power and thermal policies, perform emergency power reduction and monitor internal storage from anywhere in the world.

Dell EMC PowerStore 9000 | 5000 | 1000 : A Quick Primer!

Dell EMC just launched PowerStore – their new storage appliance, built around a unified data-centric architecture.

Here is a quick primer on the Dell EMC PowerStore 9000, PowerStore 5000 and PowerStore 1000 storage appliances!

Dell EMC PowerStore : What Is It?

Dell EMC PowerStore is a new mid-range storage appliance, with a flexible, container-based architecture, and end-to-end NVMe design.

It promises to offer 7X better performance with 3X lower latency than previous mid-range storage appliances, as well as the ability to scale up to 2.8 petabytes per appliance, and up to 11.3 petabytes per cluster.

Dell EMC PowerStore : Advantages

Dell EMC promises that PowerStore will offer these advantages to organisations looking to transform their data center operations :

Designed For Any Workload

Dell EMC PowerStore will support any workload, whether traditional or modern workloads.

Its PowerStoreOS container-based software architecture offers portability, standardisation, as well as rapid deployment.

It also supports AppsON, which allows organisations to run applications directly on the appliance.

High Performance, Massive Storage

Thanks to its end-to-end NVMe design, and support for dual-ported Intel Optane Storage Class Memory (SCM) SSDs, it is seven times faster with three times lower latency than its predecessor, Unity XT.

Each appliance can offer up to 898 TB of storage, which can be scaled up using expansion enclosures to 2.8 petabytes. It can also be scaled out to eight nodes, offering 11.3 petabytes of storage in the cluster.

It also automatically dedupes and compresses the data, offering a guaranteed 4:1 data reduction.

Autonomous Appliance

When scaled out, Dell EMC PowerStore are loosely coupled, allowing a machine learning engine to intelligently place data to rebalance storage volumes.

The machine learning engine is continuously and autonomously monitoring resources of each appliances and data requests, for maximum efficiency.

Cloud-Ready

Dell EMC Cloud Storage Services can directly connect PowerStore to all major public clouds. It can be deployed as a storage option within Dell EMC PowerOne autonomous infrastructure.

ASEAN Enterprises Adopting Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform

KUALA LUMPUR, 17 MAY 2017 : Red Hat, Inc. (NYSE: RHT) today announced that enterprises in the ASEAN region have adopted Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform to enable faster application delivery.

Ranging from the telecommunications and financial services industries, organizations in ASEAN are deploying Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform to enable their developers to more quickly develop, host, and scale applications in cloud environments.

ASEAN Adoption Of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform

The Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform is the first and only container-centric, hybrid cloud solution built from Linux containers, Kubernetes, Project Atomic and OpenShift Origin upstream projects based on the trusted backbone of the world’s leading enterprise Linux platform, Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform provides a more secure, stable platform for container-based deployments without sacrificing current IT investments, allowing for mission-critical, traditional applications to coexist alongside new, cloud-native and container-based applications.

[adrotate banner=”4″]

In the ASEAN region, Red Hat has seen a stronger momentum for its container application platform, highlighted by several recent Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform deployments in markets like Singapore and Indonesia, including: Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Negara (BTPN) (Indonesia); CrimsonLogic (Singapore); Federal International Finance (Indonesia); Rutledge Global (Singapore) and XL Axiata (Indonesia).

Affirming its innovation in container-based and cloud-native application development, Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform received the 2017 Cloud Technical Breakthrough award in February 2017.

A 2016 IDC study on The Business Value of Red Hat OpenShift, sponsored by Red Hat, found that OpenShift enables customers to respond to market requirements faster by delivering business-critical, microservices-based applications with DevOps processes. These benefits include 66% faster application delivery times, $1.29 million (approx. RM5.6 million) average annual benefits per 100 application developers per year, and 531% average ROI over five years.
