How To Register Overseas Vaccination In MySejahtera!

Find out how to register your overseas vaccination in MySejahtera, to get your digital COVID-19 certificate!

Why Get MySejahtera Digital Certificate For Overseas Vaccination?

Everyone who gets vaccinated in Malaysia receives a MySejahtera digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate, as well as a physical vaccination card.

They are both accepted as proof of your vaccination, but the digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate is definitely much more convenient to use.

You can still use your physical vaccination card, but you will still need to show your MySejahtera profile for them to verify your identity. So it’s not as convenient.

How To Register Overseas Vaccination In MySejahtera!

If you were vaccinated overseas, you are in a pickle because you will not have a MySejahtera digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate.

Neither can you use your foreign physical vaccination card, as they are not recognised in Malaysia.

Earlier, you were required to submit your documents to the nearest district health office (PKD), but JKJAV also introduced the ability to register your overseas vaccination online!

So here are the steps on how to do register your overseas vaccination in the MySejahtera app or the MySejahtera website!

  1. Open the MySejahtera app, and click Close on the default check-in page.
Alternatively, open the MySejahtera Helpdesk on your web browser, and go to Step 3.
  2. Select the MySejahtera Helpdesk option in the main screen.
  3. Select the option called I have received my vaccination overseas and would like to obtain my digital vaccination certificate in MySejahtera.
    Note :
This was originally the N option, then became the M option, before finally becoming the current L option. So just ignore the alphabet.
  4. Choose to either apply for yourself, or for your dependent.
If you need to apply for yourself and your dependent, you will need to repeat this process.

  1. Select your MySejahtera user ID – whether it’s your mobile number, or your email address.
Then key in the relevant information, including the email address at which they should write to you.

  1. Key in your telephone number and email address.

  1. Select whether you had the first dose only, the second dose only, or both doses.

  1. You will be asked to fill in your vaccination details.

  1. Finally, you will need to ppload a picture of your foreign vaccination card or document.

But if you prefer, you can still submit your foreign vaccination certificate / card / document to the nearest District Health Office (PKD).

Once verified, your overseas vaccination details will be submitted to the MySejahtera team, and you will be issued a digital COVID-19 certificate.

Sinovac Vaccine Efficacy Rapidly Drops After 2 Months!

The RECoVaM study has just shown that the efficacy of the Sinovac vaccine rapidly drops after 2 months!

Here is what you need to know!

RECoVaM Identifies Sinovac Vaccine Efficacy Problem

When the Sinovac CoronaVac vaccine was introduced, it was already known that it was the least efficacious vaccine against symptomatic COVID-19.

However, it was heavily adopted in many countries because it was available, and it offered very good protection against hospitalisation and death.

However, the recent RECoVaM (Real-world Evaluation of Covid-19 Vaccines in Malaysia) study identified a problem with the efficacy of the Sinovac vaccine against hospitalisation and death.

The RECoVaM study was conducted from 1 April until 12 September 2021, during which over 14.5 million people in Malaysia were fully vaccinated, out of an estimated population of 32.7 million.

Let’s take a look at the results…

Note : I should point out that the AstraZeneca results in the RECoVaM study may be skewed because it was taken up by a younger part of the population.

ICU Admissions

Despite the Sinovac’s Phase 3 trials showing that it offered very good protection against ICU admissions, the RECoVaM study discovered that a comparably high number of Sinovac recipients ended up in the ICU.

The ICU breakthrough rate of 0.011% may seem very low, but that’s 1 out of 9,000 Sinovac recipients and 5.4x higher than the Pfizer vaccine.

Vaccine ICU
Breakthrough
vs
Pfizer
vs
AstraZeneca
Sinovac 0.011% +5.4x +144x
Pfizer 0.002% Baseline +21x
AstraZeneca 0.001% -21x Baseline

Deaths

The Sinovac vaccine was good at preventing deaths, but even so – 1 out of 6,700 Sinovac recipients died from COVID-19. The Pfizer vaccine, in comparison, was 3x better at preventing deaths.

Vaccine Death
Breakthrough
vs
Pfizer
vs
AstraZeneca
Sinovac 0.015% +3.4x +79x
Pfizer 0.005% Baseline +23x
AstraZeneca 0.002% -23x Baseline

Sinovac Vaccine Efficacy Rapidly Drops After 2 Months!

On 23 November 2021, JKJAV shared an analysis of the RECoVaM data, showing WHY the Sinovac CoronaVac vaccine was not performing as expected.

The RECoVaM data showed that there was a precipitous drop in Sinovac’s effectiveness against infection and ICU admission after the first two months of full protection.

The Sinovac vaccine’s protection against symptomatic COVID-19 infection dropped from 76% to just 28%, while its protection against ICU admission dropped from 55% to just 28%.

The good news is that it still offers good protection against death at 76%. However, that protection still pales against the protection offered by better vaccines like the Pfizer COMIRNATY vaccine.

When we are talking about millions of people getting vaccinated, every 1% in difference means tens of thousands of additional deaths.

That is why Malaysia is now offering a FREE Pfizer booster dose for Sinovac vaccine recipients, just three months after receiving Dose 2.

The Pfizer booster dose will give Sinovac vaccine recipients a much needed boost in protection, bringing it up to par with those who were fortunate enough to get vaccinated with two doses of Pfizer.

So please look out for your booster dose notification, and make sure you get it ASAP!

And I recommend that you get the Pfizer booster dose right now, instead of waiting for a third dose of the Sinovac vaccine.

Malaysia To Start COVID-19 Vaccination For Children In Sept!

Malaysia will start COVID-19 vaccination for children between 12 to 17 years of age in September 2021!

Here is what you need to know!

COVID-19 Vaccination For Children : One Vaccine Approved So Far!

On 15 June 2021, Malaysia approved the Pfizer COMIRNATY vaccine for children of 12 to 17 years in age.

CITF also opened up registration of children for COVID-19 vaccination through MySejahtera and the Vaksin COVID website.

COVID-19 Vaccination For Children : Starts In September 2021

On 12 August 2021, the Malaysia Director General of Health, Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah issued a circular announcing these details on COVID-19 vaccination for children :

When Will It Start?

COVID-19 vaccination for children in Malaysia will begin in the middle of September 2021

Who Will Qualify?

COVID-19 vaccination for children in Malaysia will initially be limited to :

  • children between 12 and 15 years of age with certain health conditions, and
  • all children 16 or 17 years old, with or without co-morbidities.

Where Will It Take Place?

COVID-19 vaccination for children in Malaysia will take place at these locations :

  • Special PPVs (SPPVs) – vaccination centres in hospitals and medical institutions
  • Vaccination centres (PPV) in health clinics and other earmarked PPVs
  • Outreach programmes, like immunisations in schools

The vaccine will be distributed to every state, and onwards to the identified vaccination centres.

Pre-Vaccination Assessment

Pre-vaccination assessment by medical officers or specialists will be conducted for three categories of children with certain health conditions.

  1. Those with a history of severe allergies after receiving vaccines, or to other medications or unknown substances.
  2. Those who are immunocompromised because of disease or treatment received.
  3. Those who are being treated with anti-coagulants, or have health conditions that increase their bleeding tendency.

The assessment will be based on the current health status, medical history, allergy history and any medication or treatment the child may be taking, to determine :

  • whether the child should receive the COVID-19 vaccine
  • what type of COVID-19 vaccine may be suitable for the child
  • whether a different time may be better for the child’s vaccination
  • which is a more appropriate place for the vaccination – in a hospital or community PPV, for example.

Higher Risk Vaccinations

Children who are deemed to be at higher risk must receive their vaccinations at hospitals or medical facilities, to ensure that they have ready access to emergency treatment should the need arise.

  • children who underwent three pre-vaccination assessment, and were determined to be at higher risk,
  • patients receiving long-term treatment at those hospitals / medical facilities.
  • patients whose doctors believe are at higher risk

Walk-in vaccination for COVID-19 has expanded across Malaysia, albeit limited to a select group of people.

Here is what you need to know about who can walk in where for their COVID-19 vaccinations!

Nationwide Walk-In Vaccination Details For Special Groups!

On 2 August 2021, National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, announced that senior citizens would be allowed to walk into any vaccination centre for their shots.

That was expanded on 7 August 2021 to a wider group of people :

  • Senior citizens
  • Individuals with disabilities (OKU)
  • Individuals with comorbidities, who are 18 years or older
  • Individuals who missed their second dose *
  • Teachers, executive group and support service contract workers in educational institutions under the Ministry of Education.

* If you missed your second dose can go to any PPV (vaccination centre), but if it does not offer the same vaccine as their first dose, you will be redirected to a PPV offering the same vaccine.

This walk-in privilege is separate from the walk-in vaccination for Klang Valley residents, who must abide by the existing guidelines.

In addition, CITF advises pregnant women NOT to walk-in, but to wait for their MySejahtera vaccine appointments in MySejahtera, which will be calculated based on their expected delivery date (EDD).

The number of walk-in slots available daily will depend on the vaccine supply at the PPV for the day. Those who are not able to get their vaccination on that day, will be given priority to get vaccinated on the next day.

Malaysia: Undocumented People To Get FREE COVID Vaccine

Please help to spread word that undocumented people in Malaysia are entitled to get the FREE COVID-19 vaccine too!

Malaysia : Undocumented People Can Get FREE COVID-19 Vaccine!

On 31 July 2021, JKJAV officially announced details of the walk-in vaccination programme, which is also open to foreigners including undocumented migrants and refugees!

This walk-in vaccination programme is currently available only in the Klang Valley, but should eventually be made available nationwide.

However, undocumented people in Malaysia might not be aware that they now have the right to get vaccinated against COVID-19 for FREE!

So please SHARE the following details of the walk-in vaccination programme for foreigners and undocumented people with them!

It is critical that we vaccinate foreigners and undocumented people to achieve herd immunity, because no one is safe until everyone is safe.

How Can Undocumented People In Malaysia Get COVID-19 Vaccine?

It was not possible for undocumented people in Malaysia to get access to the FREE COVID-19 vaccination earlier, as registration required a valid MyKad or passport.

That changes with the new walk-in vaccination programme, which NO LONGER requires any identification.

What Do They Need To Bring?

Undocumented migrants and refugees do NOT need to bring any identification or proof of citizenship. They only need to bring :

  1. Proof of address in Klang Valley (Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Putrajaya) *
For example : utility bill, credit card bill, employment card, student card, etc.
  2. People with co-morbidities : doctor’s letter or any relevant document that confirms your health condition or history.

* This is possibly to prevent people from other states trying to travel interstate to get vaccinated.

Vaccine Consent Form Available In Their Native Language!

JKJAV has made the vaccine consent form available in 14 foreign languages, to help reach out to undocumented migrants and refugees.

These forms will be made available at the vaccination centre, but it will be helpful if you can print and explain it to them.

They can also pre-fill the forms and bring them to the vaccination centre.

Read more : JKJAV : Vaccine Consent Form Now In 14 More Languages!

When Can They Go?

The walk-in vaccination programme for foreigners, including undocumented migrants and refugees, will run from 9 until 22 August 2021.

  • Foreigners 40 years and above, or with co-morbidities : 9 to 11 August 2021
  • Foreigners 18 years and above : 12 to 22 August 2021

Where Should They Go?

The walk-in vaccination programme for foreigners, including undocumented migrants and refugees, is available only at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium vaccination centre.

But please note that they can only walk in for their free COVID-19 vaccination from 2 PM onwards.

Read more : Bukit Jalil Stadium Vaccination Centre : Video + Picture Guide!

Will They Be Eligible For Vaccine Outreach Programme?

It is currently UNKNOWN if undocumented migrants and refugees will be allowed to walk-in at vaccine outreach programme locations, but we certainly hope that will be the case!

JKJAV will only announce details of the vaccine outreach programme later, but here is what we know so far :

  • it will start from 9 August 2021 onwards
  • it will involve NGOs, mobile vaccination teams and other relevant agencies.
  • you will need to bring proof of residence in the Klang Valley (Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Putrajaya)
For example : address on identity card, driving licence, utility bill, credit card bill, employment card, student card, etc.
  • If you have co-morbidities, you need to bring your doctor’s letter or any relevant document that confirms your health condition or history.

Help Undocumented People In Malaysia Get The COVID-19 Vaccine!

It is very important that we get all undocumented migrants and refugees vaccinated against COVID-19 for FREE.

This prevents them from being exploited by unscrupulous people selling COVID-19 vaccines for profit, often at obscene prices.

It will also help us achieve herd immunity in Malaysia, helping to protect each other. We are not safe until everyone is safe.

So please help to reach out to undocumented people in your neighbourhood. Pass word along that they can get vaccinated against COVID-19 for FREE!

On 30 July 2021, JKJAV released the COVID-19 vaccine consent form in 14 additional languages :

These forms can be printed and brought to the vaccination centre.

It is currently unknown if MySejahtera’s new Digital Consent Form supports these 14 additional languages.

Vaccine Consent Form In 14 More Languages : Why Is This Important?

From 2 August 2021 onwards, certain COVID-19 Vaccination Centres (PPVs) will be opened up for walk-in vaccinations.

For the first time, undocumented people in Malaysia will be given the chance to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

They can just walk-in and get vaccinated at selected PPVs to be announced shortly.

This is an incredibly important step in our goal of achieving herd immunity in Malaysia, and providing the vaccine consent form in their native language is essential in gaining their trust.

If you are employing undocumented foreign workers, or have contact with them, please let them know about this great opportunity!

Encourage them to go and get vaccinated against COVID-19, to protect themselves, their family and everyone else in Malaysia!

Fact Check : COVID-19 Vaccination ID Card For Malaysia!

Is Malaysia going to issue a physical vaccination ID card for those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19?

Take a look at the viral video, and find out what the FACTS really are!

Claim : COVID-19 Vaccination ID Card For Malaysia

A video has been circulating on social media and WhatsApp, claiming to show physical COVID-19 vaccination ID cards that will be issued to those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The video shows that your vaccination certificate is printed on one side, with the type of vaccine you received will be printed on the reverse side.

JKJAV : No COVID-19 Vaccination ID Card For Malaysia!

The COVID-19 vaccination ID card in the video looks really cool, but it is NOT genuine.

There is NO official physical COVID-19 vaccination card in Malaysia!

On 23 July 2021, JKJAV – the Special Committee on COVID-19 Vaccine Supply – announced that :

  • there is no physical vaccination certificate, and
  • there is only the digital vaccination certificate in MySejahtera and a simple vaccination card.

Back in March 2021, Malaysia Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba showed off the My COVID-19 Vaccination Badge.

However, the My COVID-19 Vaccination Badge appears to be shelved. Besides, it looks completely different from the vaccination ID card in the video.

Read more : First Look At My COVID-19 Vaccination Badge!

It is possible that the video was recorded by a private company offering their card printing service to people who want to print a physical copy of their digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate.

However, we do NOT recommend that as the digital COVID-19 certificate contains personal data that you may not want people to have access to.

  • your full name
  • your MyKad / passport number
  • a QR code which currently has placeholder data (Scan Sample QR code), but could later be filled with sensitive information

In its digital form, it is protected by your smartphone’s encryption – you need to log in to access the digital certificate. Once printed out, that protection is lost.

Just in case you are worried about “losing” the certificate, JKJAV says that you will soon be able to print a physical copy of the digital certificate for safekeeping.

If you just can’t wait, here is a simple solution – take a screenshot of the digital certificate.

COVID-19 Vaccination For Children Postponed For Now!

CITF just announced that COVID-19 vaccination for children will be POSTPONED until a later time.

Here is what you need to know!

COVID-19 Vaccination For Children : One Vaccine Approved!

On 15 June 2021, Malaysia approved the Pfizer COMIRNATY vaccine for children of 12 to 17 years in age.

CITF also opened up registration of children for COVID-19 vaccination through MySejahtera and the Vaksin COVID website.

COVID-19 Vaccination For Children Postponed For Now!

On 22 July 2021, CITF (COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force) announced that COVID-19 vaccination for children will be postponed for the time being.

This includes SPM candidates (and is meant to) prevent any risk of myocarditis and pericarditis (heart inflammation) as reported by teenagers in the United States who have received their second dose of Covid-19 vaccines.

The government will only administer the Pfizer vaccine to adolescents with certain underlying health conditions, like cancer, chronic lung disease and co-morbidities like diabetes.

The Malaysia Health Ministry is finalising clinical guidelines for children and teenagers with such pre-existing conditions, as they are at higher risk of hospitalisation or death if they contract COVID-19.

Children of between 12 and 17 years of age can still register for vaccination, but no vaccine appointment will be given out.

Teenagers who are 18 years of age by 31 December 2021 will continue to receive their COVID-19 vaccine appointments.

COVID-19 Vaccination For Children : Risk Of Myocarditis / Pericarditis

Unfortunately, both Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines are now known to cause cases of myocarditis and pericarditis in teenagers.

  • myocarditis : inflammation of the heart muscle
  • pericarditis : inflammation of the outer lining of the heart

These cases are rare – just 1,148 cases were reported in the United States (as of 19 July 2021) amongst people 30 years old or younger, of which 674 cases of myocarditis or pericarditis were confirmed.

That was after over 20 million Pfizer COMIRNATY doses were given to adolescents and young adults. So the risk of developing myocarditis / pericarditis is approximately :

  • 6 cases for every 100,000 doses.
  • 1 case for every 17,400 doses

The confirmed cases in the United States have occurred :

  • mostly in male adolescents and young adults age 16 years of older
  • more often after getting the second dose
  • typically occurs within a few days after receiving the vaccine

People who develop myocarditis or pericarditis will experience symptoms like :

  • chest pain
  • shortness of breath
  • heart palpitations / pounding heart

CITF : Walk-In Vaccination Details To Be Announced LATER!

CITF just issued a statement stating that the walk-in vaccination details will be announced LATER.

Here is what you need to know!

Fake News : You Can Walk In For Vaccination From 1 August Onwards!

There are at least three viral messages circulating on WhatsApp, claiming that you can walk in and get vaccinated at any vaccination centre (PPV) from 1 August 2021 onwards.

I fact-checked that in my article – Walk-In Vaccination In Malaysia From 1 August Onwards? earlier, so we know they are fake news.

CITF : Walk-In Vaccination Details To Be Announced LATER!

Unfortunately, many people refused to believe those messages are false, and continued to share the fake news.

This is partly because of this 8TV video of National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister, Khairy Jamaluddin.

So on 19 July 2021, the Malaysia COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) issued a statement to clear the air. Here is a summary :

  1. The walk-in initiative is only for those who are left out and have not received their vaccine appointments by 1 August 2021.
  2. Individuals in KL and Selangor who have already registered will be given their appointments very soon.
  3. Individuals who have not registered are encouraged to registered as soon as possible.
  4. Details of this programme will be announced later, as not all vaccination centres (PPVs) will be involved.

Malaysia : +3 Million Sinovac Doses, Private Sale Soon!

Malaysia purchased another 3 million doses of the Sinovac vaccine, and will make the CoronaVac available for private sale soon!

Here are the latest details!

Malaysia : +3 Million Sinovac Doses By End Of July!

On 16 July 2021, JKJAV announced that they will purchase 3 million more doses of the CoronaVac vaccine from Sinovac.

In total, Malaysia will receive 15 million doses of CoronaVac, all of which will be delivered by end of July 2021.

Although JKJAV did not mention why they purchased the additional 3 million doses, it appears to be meant for Operation Surge Capacity.

Astro Awani earlier tweeted (12:31 PM, 17 July 2021) that these 3 million doses will be exported overseas, but that has just been deleted – implying that it was not true.

Malaysia : Sinovac CoronaVac Available For Private Sale Soon

Ghows Azzam, Science Advisor to the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, also announced that the CoronaVac vaccine will be made available to the private market in August 2021.

I should point out that this announcement has nothing to do with the 15 million doses of Sinovac vaccine purchased by JKJAV for the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK).

It is likely that JKJAV will allow hospitals and clinics to purchase the CoronaVac vaccine from Pharmaniaga or Sinovac.

There has been NO OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT, so please stay tuned for more details…

Walk-In Vaccination In Malaysia From 1 August Onwards?

Can you walk in and get your COVID-19 vaccination at any vaccination centre in Malaysia from 1 August onwards?

Take a look at the viral messages, and find out what the FACTS really are!

Claim : Walk-In Vaccination In Malaysia From 1 August Onwards?

Two messages have gone viral and are being shared on various WhatsApp groups.

They both claim that anyone who have not received their COVID-19 vaccine can walk in and get vaccinated at any PPV, from 1 August onwards.

Important information. Please share. From Aug 1 anyone who has not received their vaccine can walk into any PPVs for their vaccination

For those who has not gotten their Vac Appointment, for Sel/KL only. Beginning 1Aug, walk in any PPV, any age.
1. MIECC Mines – Sinovac
2. PWTC- AZ
3. Sunway Pyramid CC – Pfizer
4. Uitm Seksyen 7 – sinovac
5. Uitm Puncak Alam – Sinovac

They are sometimes shared with this video of National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, saying that anyone can walk in for their COVID-19 vaccination from 1 August onwards.

Walk-In Vaccination In Malaysia : The Facts

The viral messages are not accurate, and here are the FACTS…

Fact #1 : Operation Surge Capacity Runs From 26 July – 1 August

On 16 July 2021, National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme coordinating minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, announced Operation Surge Capacity.

This 5-day Operation Surge Capacity aims to give the adult population in KL and Selangor at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by 1 August 2021.

To vaccinate the remaining 1.3 million adult population in KL and Selangor, the CITF (COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force) will need to sustain 272,000 vaccinations per day.

Fact #2 : Walk-In Vaccination After Operation Surge Capacity

In a video that is often circulated with the viral message, Khairy Jamaluddin actually said that walk-in vaccination will only happen AFTER Operation Surge Capacity is completed.

So the actual date when people can walk-in and get their COVID-19 vaccination is predicated on the success of Operation Surge Capacity.

If Operation Surge Capacity is extended, then this option will likely be delayed.

Even if Operation Surge Capacity succeeds by 1 August, walk-in vaccination can only happen the next day – 2 August 2021.

So it’s best to WAIT for the official kick-off announcement, and not accept some random WhatsApp message at face value.

Fact #3 : Walk-In Vaccination Only In KL + Selangor

The first viral message also falsely suggests that anyone in Malaysia will be able to walk into any PPV to get vaccinated.

This walk-in vaccination option will only be available in KL and Selangor vaccination centres (PPVs) to “mop up anybody that has not received their first dose in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor”.

Fact #4 : Walk-In Vaccination Also For Undocumented

Surprisingly, undocumented people in Malaysia will also be allowed to walk into any PPV in KL and Selangor to get vaccinated.

This is very good news, as it is important that EVERYONE gets vaccinated, irrespective of their status in Malaysia.

Khairy Jamaluddin said, “This is so that we can ‘mop up’ anybody that has not received their first dose in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

Some people may not have been captured by the Statistics Department’s data, while there are those who are undocumented.

Fact #5 : Walk-In Vaccination Only For Adults

On 17 July 2021, CITF kicked off walk-in vaccinations for senior citizens aged 60 years and above in KL and Selangor.

When they expand the walk-in programme after Operation Surge Capacity, it will be restricted to adults – those who are 18 years and above.

So the second message is WRONG in claiming that anyone of “any age” can walk into a PPV to get vaccinated.

Read more : Walk-In Vaccination in KL + Selangor Kicks Off!

Fact #6 : Walk-In Vaccination Only For Those Without Appointments

Another fact not mentioned by the first message – only those who do NOT have a vaccine appointment yet, will be allowed to walk into a PPV in KL or Selangor.

Khairy Jamaluddin said, “Those who have already received their appointment dates are advised to stick to their appointments. Do not walk in.

Fact #7 : Sinovac Will Only Be Used For Dose 2

On 15 July 2021, Malaysia Health Minister, Adam Baba, announced that Sinovac will no longer be used for new vaccinations, and the remaining stock would be used to complete current vaccinations.

Adham Baba said, “About half of the 16 million have already been distributed, so the rest will be used to cover second doses. For those who have yet to be vaccinated, they will receive the Pfizer vaccine.

Hence, the second viral message with the list of vaccination centres offering Sinovac for walk-in vaccinations is FALSE.

Fact #8 : CITF Confirmed This Fact Check

On 19 July 2021, JKJAV issued a statement by the COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) addressing the viral messages :

  • the walk-in programme will be updated and announced LATER
  • not all vaccination centres (PPVs) will be open for walk-in vaccinations.

So there you have it – the definitive debunk of the two fake viral messages above – from JKJAV and CITF.

206 IDCC Vaccination Centre Staff Positive For COVID-19!

A total of 206 staff at the IDCC vaccination centre just tested positive for COVID-19!

Find out what’s going on, and what you should do if you were recently at the IDCC vaccination centre!

206 IDCC Vaccination Centre Staff Positive For COVID-19!

On 13 July 2021, JKJAV – the Special Committee on COVID-19 Vaccine Supply – announced that the IDCC vaccination centre (PPV) will be closed for the day after two volunteers tested positive for COVID-19.

This would allow for sanitisation of the vaccination centre to be carried out. The IDCC PPV will reopen on 14 July 2021.

The COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) immediately ordered a screening test of all other workers at the IDCC PPV.

The test was carried out on 10 July 2021, and they found that another 204 staff were positive for COVID-19, with RT-PCR CT value of 35 – meaning that they have a low viral load.

That would mean a total of 206 staff members of the IDCC PPV have tested positive for COVID-19, including the initial two cases.

National Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, also shared that there are 453 workers at the IDCC PPV, of which :

  • 88% (400 people) have been vaccinated
  • 12% (53 people) have not been vaccinated

He did not reveal how many of the 206 positive cases were vaccinated. However, at least 153 of the 400 vaccinated workers would have tested positive for COVID-19 – a vaccine breakthrough rate of about 38%.

All other IDCC PPV workers will be quarantined, and replaced with a new team as a precautionary measure.

NIOSH has been ordered to monitor the ventilation in the IDCC PPV to ensure safety of people getting vaccinated going forward.

IDCC PPV COVID-19 Exposure : What Should You Do?

CITF has determined that the risk of exposure to the infected IDCC PPV staff members started from 4 PM on 9 July 2021 until 12 July 2021.

Therefore, everyone who went for vaccination at the IDCC PPV from 4 PM on 9 July 2021 until 12 July 2021 must self-quarantine and monitor their symptoms for ten days.

Those who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms should get tested immediately.

People who have appointments at IDCC PPV are advised to :

  • maintain COVID-19 precautions
  • maintain physical distance at all times
  • come only at the appointed time
  • go home as soon as they’re vaccinated

Can You Use MySejahtera To Choose COVID-19 Vaccine?

Can you use MySejahtera to choose the COVID-19 vaccine you prefer? Pfizer? Sinovac? AstraZeneca?

Take a look at the viral claim, and find out what the FACTS really are!

Can You Use MySejahtera To Choose COVID-19 Vaccine?

This viral message has been circulating on WhatsApp for several weeks now, advising people on how to get JKJAV to give them the COVID-19 vaccine they prefer.

Hi All, Greetings,
On Choosing your vaccine via Mysejahterah is possible

You can request for Sinovac or Astra Zeneca or Pfizer,

– just go to Helpdesk ,
– scroll down to L other queries
– then select E for other issues
– key in/ type – request for Sinovac or Pfizer,
– then press Next & submit.

They will reply u thru email on your request

Any preference jab u want can be requested

Share to those friends who haven’t got their appointments yet

This was How I chose & Waiting for their Appointment date

Truth : You CANNOT Use MySejahtera To Choose COVID-19 Vaccine!

JKJAV has always said that you cannot choose the COVID-19 vaccine you are given, unless you opted into the AstraZeneca programme.

So I knew that the viral message was FALSE, and I told many people that. However, how can we prove it?

Fact #1 : JKJAV Says It’s Not True!

On 5 July 2021, we finally confirmed with JKJAV that the viral message is FAKE.

The MySejahtera Helpdesk feature in the message does nothing more than let you email the JKJAV team.

However, they will not entertain any request for specific COVID-19 vaccines.

This is the same abuse of the Helpdesk that JKJAV warned against just a few days ago.

Recommended : Stop Using MySejahtera Helpdesk For Vaccine Appointment!

Fact #2 : Early Vaccination More Important Than Vaccine Efficacy

People who are trying to pick and choose their COVID-19 vaccine are not thinking straight.

With COVID-19 raging across Malaysia, it does not pay to wait until you get the vaccine you prefer.

The truth is vaccine efficacy does not really matter. All approved COVID-19 vaccines will protect you against severe disease and death!

COVID-19 Vaccine Protection Against
Symptomatic
Infection
Severe
Disease
Death
Pfizer Comirnaty 95.0% 100% 100%
Moderna mRNA-1273 94.1% 100% 100%
Gamaleya Sputnik V 91.6% 100% 100%
AstraZeneca AZD1222 76% ~ 85% 100% 100%
Novavax Covovax 60 ~ 89% 100% 100%
CanSino Convidecia 65.7% 90.98% 100%
Sinopharm BBIBP-CorV 79% ~ 86% 90% 100%
J&J Janssen COVID-19 66.0% 85% 100%
Sinovac CoronaVac 50.65% 83.7% 100%

Instead of worrying about which vaccine you are getting, you should be FOCUSED on getting vaccinated as soon as you can!

Vaccines cannot help you if you get infected BEFORE you can get vaccinated!

Even you get a “lousy” vaccine, it will protect you against hospitalisation and death, so you end up with only a mild case of COVID-19. Isn’t that good enough?

Stop Using MySejahtera Helpdesk For Vaccine Appointment!

JKJAV is WARNING people to STOP using the MySejahtera Helpdesk to ask for their vaccine appointment!

Find out what’s going on, and why this is just another Internet hoax!

MySejahtera Helpdesk For Vaccine Appointment?

Viral messages have been circulating on the Internet and WhatsApp, advising people on how to get their vaccinations earlier, or to choose their vaccines :

CARA NAK CEPATKAN DAPAT TARIKH VAKSIN

Yang dah lama dafter vaksin tapi masih tak dapat lagi tarikh, buka app MySejahtera dan cuba cara ini:

2) Pilih ‘Vaccine Information’
3) Pilih ‘Helpdesk’
4) Pilih ‘Start’
5) Pilih ‘L Other Queries?’
6) Pilih ‘E Other Issues’
7) Taip ‘Nak appointment vaksin’
8) Tekan ‘Next’ dan tekan ‘Submit’

HOW TO GET AN EARLIER VACCINATION DATE

For those who registered long ago but did not get any vaccination date, open MySejahtera and try this method :

2) Choose ‘Vaccine Information’
3) Choose ‘Helpdesk’
4) Choose ‘Start’
5) Choose ‘L Other Queries?’
6) Choose ‘E Other Issues’
7) Type ‘Want a vaccination appointment’
8) Tap ‘Next’ and tap ‘Submit’

Stop Using MySejahtera Helpdesk For Vaccine Appointment!

On 4 July 2021, JKJAV issued a warningSTOP using the MySejahtera Helpdesk to get an earlier vaccine appointment!

The Helpdesk is meant for people to get help from the JKJAV team, not for people to request for earlier vaccination appointments!

The COVID-19 vaccination appointments are automatically arranged according to these criteria :

  • When you first registered for COVID-19 vaccination
  • Your age
  • Any co-morbidities (chronic illness) you may have
  • Where you currently live

JKJAV warns that there are no shortcuts to getting vaccine appointments, and that there is no need to use the MySejahtera Helpdesk for this purpose.

People who have been using this method in the fake post are drowning out genuine complaints by other users.

Someone should tell the Perak Health Department too, because they themselves fell for the fake news!

This “confusion” or “fake news” is likely based on the earlier fake news that senior citizens age 60 years and above can use the MySejahtera Helpdesk to ask for a vaccine appointment.

So please STOP using the MySejahtera Helpdesk to request for an earlier vaccine appointment… and TELL YOUR FRIENDS to stop doing that too!

EMCO U-Turn : Up To 3 Per Car For Vaccination / Treatment!

There is an update in the EMCO 3.0 SOP – up to three (3) people can drive out to seek medical treatment or receive their vaccination!

EMCO U-Turn : Up To 3 Per Car For Vaccination / Treatment!

Yesterday, the Malaysia National Security Council (MKN) released the full EMCO 3.0 SOP for KL and Selangor.

The EMCO 3.0 SOP only allowed a single person to leave a household to purchase daily essentials.

Taxis and e-hailing rides, therefore, can only pick up a single passenger, for the same purpose.

The only exception was for medical care or vaccination – up to two (2) persons can drive in their personal vehicle to seek medical care or to get vaccinated.

However, many people felt that such a limit was not only impractical, it does not prevent spread of COVID-19.

After all, what does it matter if multiple people from the same household use the same car to get vaccinations?

It appears that the government belatedly realised that. Less than 24 hours later, they released an updated EMCO 3.0 SOP with a single change :

Up to three (3) people, including the driver, are allowed to leave to seek medical care, medicine and vaccination.

Unfortunately, two (2) person limit, including the driver, for taxis and e-hailing rides remained, so they are not practical for those who need to seek medical help or to get vaccinated…

Could there be another EMCO SOP “adjustment” coming up soon? Hopefully…

Selected EMCO 3.0 SOP For KL + Selangor!

Here is the selected EMCO 3.0 SOP for areas that will come under the EMCO in KL and Selangor :

  • All entry and exit into EMCO areas will be closed and controlled by the police (PDRM).
  • All residents in EMCO areas are FORBIDDEN to leave their house, except for one (1) representative to purchase essential goods within a radius of 10 kilometres.
  • KKM will conduct targeted screening tests on all residents in EMCO areas.
  • JKJAV will increase the rate of vaccination in EMCO areas.
  • Interstate and inter-district travel for the purpose of going for vaccination is ALLOWED by showing the appointment in MySejahtera, website or SMS.
  • Airports and ports are allowed to operate as normal.
  • Public transportation (train, bus, airport, taxi, ferry, e-hailing ride) are allowed to operate as normal, at 50% capacity.
  • Taxis and e-hailing rides are limited to just TWO (2) people in the vehicle, including the driver.
  • No one should leave their homes after 8 PM, except for emergencies or with police permission.
  • Only essential services, like utilities, cleaning and sewerage, are allowed to operate from 8 AM until 8 PM.
  • Factories producing food and daily essentials like rice, bread loaves, sugar, cooking oil, flour, fresh milk, milk powder, medicines and face masks are allowed to operate.
  • Only those providing essential services or those conducting official government work, with employer’s letter or valid worker’s pass, are allowed to work.

On 30 June 2021, the National Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, said that the government will announce a new dose interval for the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

“I will be making an announcement on the new dose interval tomorrow (Thursday, 1 July 2021).”

Just before 6 PM on 1 July 2021, he finally made the announcement :

Based on the recommendation from our Technical Working Group & with greater clarity of the delivery schedule, @JKJAVMY has decided to shorten the dosing interval for AZ from 12 to nine weeks. Those who participated in the first round of AZ will be notified of their 2nd appt soon.

This is likely due to the surge of cases caused by the highly-infectious Delta strain of COVID-19, which has been shown to infect people within seconds of close contact.

A single dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine has been shown to offer very limited protection against the Delta variant, so it is critical for people to get their second dose quickly.

Recommended : Why Delta Variant Causes MORE Breakthrough Infections!

AstraZeneca Vaccine : Dose Interval Changes

The AstraZeneca vaccine was originally designed with a 21-day interval between Dose 1 and Dose 2.

However, a study published in the Lancet found that the UK approach of delaying the second dose until 12 weeks / 3 months later made the AstraZeneca vaccine more effective!

Second Dose
Interval
Efficacy After 2 Doses
(14 days after Dose 2)
< 6 Weeks 55.1%
6 – 8 Weeks 59.9%
9 – 11 Weeks 63.7%
≥ 12 Weeks 81.3%

In light of the UK results, the WHO changed its advisory on the AstraZeneca vaccine, to recommend that the second dose be given 8 to 12 weeks after the first dose.

That is why the Malaysian government decided to follow WHO’s advice to extend the dose interval to 12 weeks after their first dose.

The new 9 week dose interval gives a small but significant boost in efficacy over 6 weeks, and seems like a reasonable compromise between that or 12 long weeks.

Recommended : AstraZeneca Vaccine : Second Dose Set At 12 Weeks!

Malaysia : No AZ-Pfizer Heterologous Vaccination For Now

Malaysia will not adopt heterologous vaccination – the mixing of vaccines – for now.

Here is what you need to know about heterologous vaccination…

Heterologous Vaccination : What Is It?

Heterologous vaccination simply refers to the idea of using two different vaccines to deliver better protection against a disease.

The first vaccine primes the immune system, and the second, different vaccine gives it a potent boost. Hence, it is also known as heterologous prime-boost vaccination.

In the fight against COVID-19, researchers are looking at combining a vector vaccine with an mRNA vaccine. Of great interest is the AstraZeneca-Pfizer combination.

This is becoming of critical importance with the development of highly-infectious variants, like the Delta variant which is partially resistant to vaccines.

Malaysia : No AZ-Pfizer Heterologous Vaccination For Now

With the surge of cases involving the Delta variant, many Malaysians are justly worried about receiving only one dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

After all, the Delta variant has been shown to infect people within mere seconds of a close contact!

However, the National Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin said that heterologous vaccination with the AstraZeneca vaccine is not on the table for now…

On 30 June 2021, he said that the second dose will remain the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Although the expert technical working group has presented JKJAV early real world data on heterologous vaccinations, that is mixing vaccines; we are still studying.

It is still inconclusive for us to make a decision to mix vaccines here in Malaysia. We will continue to study that and once a conclusive decision can be made, then we will announce that.

For now, you will be given the same vaccine as the first dose. If you received AstraZeneca for your first dose, you will receive AstraZeneca for your second dose.

Instead of trying out heterologous vaccinations, the Malaysia government has decided to bring forward the AstraZeneca vaccine dose interval.

Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine Approved For Children In Malaysia!

On 15 June 2021, the Malaysia Ministry of Health (KKM) announced that the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) approved the use of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in children 12 years and above.

You may recall that the Pfizer COMIRNATY vaccine was first approved for use in adults 18 years and above on 8 January 2021.

With this approval, children aged 12 years and above will be able to sign up for the COVID-19 vaccination programme.

How To Register Children For COVID-19 Vaccine Using MySejahtera

MySejahtera has been updated to allow registration of children for the COVID-19 vaccine, so here is our video guide on how to do that!

For our step-by-step guide, please see How To Register Children For Vaccine In MySejahtera!

Registering Children For COVID-19 Vaccine In Vaksin COVID Website

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to do that on the Vaksin COVID website.

  1. Go to the Vaksin COVID-19 website at www.vaksincovid.gov.my.
  2. Click on the green REGISTER NOW button.
Or use these direct links – BM | English | Chinese | Tamil
  3. In the first part of the COVID-19 vaccine registration page, you will need to fill in :
    – Your child’s name
    – Your child’s age
    – Your child’s IC (MyKad) or Passport number
    – Phone number : this can be your child’s own number, or yours

  1. In the next part, you will be asked to fill in these details for your child :
    – State : where your child currently lives
    – Email (optional) : this will be an alternate means to contact you or your child
    – Address : where your child currently lives. This can be different from your address if your child is (for example) in a boarding school or living with a guardian
  2. You will also be asked three simple questions :
    – Is your child interested to take the COVID-19 vaccine :
    – Does your child have any comorbidities?
    – Is your child registered with the Department of Social Welfare Malaysia as a disabled person?

  1. If your child has comorbidities, you will be asked to select them from list :
    – Diabetes Mellitus
    – Hypertension
    – Heart Disease
    – Asthma
    – Cancer
    – Chronic Lung Disease
    – Kidney Disease
    – Liver Disease
    – Stroke
    – Immunocompromised
    – Obesity
    – Bleeding Tendency (INR ≥ 4)
    – History of Severe Allergic Reaction
    – Others : you will need to fill it in manually

Listing your child’s comorbidities will help the JKJAV team prioritise children at higher risk from COVID-19, and exclude those who cannot receive the vaccine.

  1. Once you are done, double check what you have entered and click or tap on the I’m not a robot checkbox.
  2. Then click > SUBMIT.

That’s it! You should see this Thank You message pop-up, confirming that you have successfully registered your child for the COVID-19 vaccination programme in Malaysia!

If you do not see this Thank You message, keep clicking on the Submit button every few minutes. You may need to redo the I’m not a robot test every now and then.

Now that you have just learned how to register your children for the COVID-19 vaccine programme in Malaysia, please SHARE this with your family and friends.

Encourage them to register their children for the COVID-19 vaccine programme in Malaysia too! Let’s get rid of COVID-19 together!

Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine Approved For Children In Malaysia!

The Ministry of Health just announced that they approved the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for use in children 12 years and older in Malaysia!

Here is what we know so far…

Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine Approved For Children In Malaysia!

On 15 June 2021, the Malaysia Ministry of Health (KKM) announced that the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) approved the use of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in children 12 years and above.

With this approval, children aged 12 years and above will soon be able to sign up for the COVID-19 vaccination programme.

However, KKM expressed their view that the COVID-19 vaccines should be prioritised towards the high-risk groups – like senior citizens with co-morbidities.

Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine : A Quick Primer

The Pfizer COMIRNATY vaccine (BNT162b2) is an mRNA-based vaccine designed by BioNTech.

Unlike more traditional methods of using dead particles, or attenuated viruses, the mRNA vaccine teaches your cells to create proteins that mimic the SARS-CoV-2 virus, thereby triggering an immune response.

MITEC Vaccination Centre : A Pictorial Guide!

I would like to thank Zoey Lee and her sister for providing the pictures and information for this pictorial guide.

Dropping Off + Parking!

As per the video guide above, if you need to drop off your vaccine dependents, please do so at the South entrance of MITEC.

If you are taking a taxi or e-hailing ride, make sure they drop you off at the South entrance of MITEC.

If you need to park your car, public parking is available near the MITEC South entrance – turn left into the MITEC basement car park.

Where To Go?

Whether you get dropped off, or park in the basement, make sure you head to the South entrance of MITEC.

You will need to check in using MySejahtera and scan your forehead temperature, as usual.

You will need to follow the guided path of Hall 03 (Dewan 03).

Try not to go too early. If you are early, you will be asked to wait in a waiting area until your time slot is called.

Fortunately, this waiting area is fully air-conditioned, unlike WTCKL.

MITEC Hall 3 has two entrances – one for those taking the 1st Dose, and one for those taking the 2nd Dose.

There will be volunteers ushering you, but make sure you enter the right entrance.

On entering MITEC Hall 3, you will be given a queue number, and your vaccination consent forms.

Then you will be seated in a large waiting area, where you can then fill in the consent forms. Do NOT sign the consent forms yet.

Because there are no tables, you should bring something stiff to write on (like a book), and a pen.

When your queue number is called, note the Counter number and head to the Registration and Consent area.

Go to your assigned Counter, where a volunteer will check your identification (MyKad or Passport) and register you.

If you have MySejahtera, you will be asked to scan the QR code to log that you have officially come in to be vaccinated.

There will also be a doctor at the same counter to explain the risks and benefits of COVID-19 vaccination.

You will have the opportunity to ask the doctor any questions about the vaccination, and your medication. If you brought your medication, you may present it to the doctor.

After your queries are satisfied, you may then sign the consent forms, and the doctor will counter sign them.

After signing the consent forms, you will be assigned Station A or Station B by the volunteer.

Head to the Vaccination area, according to the assigned Station.

You will be seated in the waiting area to wait for your turn.

When your queue number is called, head to the assigned vaccination room, to receive your COVID-19 vaccine.

The doctor / nurse administering the vaccine will show you the vial or vaccine label, so you know what vaccine you are receiving.

The doctor / nurse will also show you the syringe to confirm that it has the right amount of vaccine.

The empty syringe will also be shown to you after you receive your vaccination.

Recommended : How To Read The Volume Of LDV Syringe Correctly?

After vaccination, you will be asked to wait in a small holding area until you are called to the counter to submit your consent forms and receive your vaccination card.

Then you will be ushered to the Observation Area, where you will need to sit for 15 to 30 minutes.

If you are worried about any severe allergic reaction to the vaccine, you can sit a little while longer.

After that, you can leave the MITEC vaccination centre, and go home!

Don’t forget to take some pictures, and share with your friends and family on social media!

After Leaving MITEC : Post-Vaccination Check List

After receiving your COVID-19 vaccination, you are FREE to do anything you want. There are NO RESTRICTIONS on your diet and daily life.

You can expect some mild side effects – these are signs of your immune system learning how to fight against COVID-19.

COVID-19 Vaccine Dependents Can Go By Themselves!

Did you know that COVID-19 vaccine dependents go for their vaccinations by themselves?

You do not need to accompany them for their vaccinations, but there are some things they should be aware about…

COVID-19 Vaccine Dependents : What Are They?

A COVID-19 vaccine dependent is usually someone who does not have a phone, or a MySejahtera account.

To register them for COVID-19 vaccination, you can sign them up as a Vaccine Dependent in MySejahtera.

You can sign up your domestic helper, elderly parents or even children (18 years and above) as a vaccine dependent.

You can also sign them up as a vaccine dependent even if they already have a MySejahtera account.

Recommended : How To Register Dependents For Vaccine In MySejahtera!

COVID-19 Vaccine Dependents Can Go By Themselves!

In most cases, vaccine dependents are people staying in the same household, so there’s usually no problem in sending them to the vaccination centre when it’s their turn.

However, there are many cases where the vaccine dependent is far away – in a different district or even state.

For example, you can help your elderly parents sign up for their COVID-19 vaccination as a vaccine dependent, even though they are staying in a different state.

The government allows people to travel interstate to help their vaccine dependents get to their vaccination centres. However, that is not always possible.

Vaccine Dependents Can Go By Themselves

Usually, you need to accompany your vaccine dependent to scan the QR codes during their COVID-19 vaccination process.

But if that’s not possible – your vaccine dependents can go for their vaccinations without you!

If they have their own MySejahtera account, their vaccination appointments will be visible, and they can scan the QR codes using their MySejahtera account.

You can maintain them as a vaccine dependent, or remove them – it won’t change their status or appointment, which are tied to their MyKad or passport number.

Vaccine Dependents Don’t Even Need MySejahtera!

In some cases, your vaccine dependents may not have a MySejahtera account, or a smartphone.

Don’t worry – they only need to bring their MyKad or passport to the vaccination centre to authenticate their identity.

Instead of using MySejahtera to scan the QR codes, their COVID-19 vaccinations will be processed manually.

If you maintain them as a vaccine dependent, it will be updated with their COVID-19 vaccination details.

If and when they register for their own MySejahtera account, everything will be shown in their account.

Check List For Your Vaccine Dependents

Before your vaccine dependents go for their vaccinations, please remind them that :

  1. They must CONTINUE to take their medications, unless advised otherwise by their doctors.
  2. They should NOT take painkillers BEFORE going for their vaccination.

And here is a check list of what they should do / bring on the day of their COVID-19 vaccination :

  1. They should wear loose and comfortable clothes.
  2. They should have a good meal, and drink some water.
  3. They should check to make sure they do not have a fever, or any other flu-like symptoms.
If they are sick, they should NOT go to the vaccination centre.
  4. They should bring a smartphone with MySejahtera installed, if possible (not compulsory)
  5. They must bring some form of identification – MyKad or passport.
  6. They should bring their medication with them, in case they need to ask the doctor’s advice at the vaccination centre.
  7. They must wear a face mask, and if possible, wear a face shield.
  8. They should bring a bottle of water, in case they get thirsty.
  9. They should bring a pen, and something stiff to write on, to fill in the forms.

New MySejahtera Vaccine Appointment Feature For Seniors?

Is it true that MySejahtera has a new vaccine appointment feature for senior citizens of 60 years and above?

Find out what is this new MySejahtera feature that is going viral on social media, and what the FACTS really are!

New MySejahtera Vaccine Appointment Feature For Seniors?

People are posting and sharing messages about a new MySejahtera feature that lets senior citizens of 60 years and above request for COVID-19 vaccine appointments.

Here are two examples of those viral messages :

For those above 60,who still do not have an appointment for your vaccination, you can go to MySejahtera Helpdesk, and press B👆🏻

For all those who are yet to get your vaccination appointment.

FYI
For those above 60 yrs and have yet to get vaccination date, you can do the following:-
1. open mysejahtera
2. click on help desk
3. Start
4. Select option B
5. You will be given an appointment.

It’s for 60yrs n above.

Not A New MySejahtera Vaccine Appointment Feature For Seniors…

The viral messages are not exactly correct.

This is NOT a new MySejahtera feature lets senior citizens request for, and receive, a COVID-19 vaccine appointment.

This is really a Helpdesk alternative to the JKJAV hotline for people who have already registered for their COVID-19 vaccination.

This is similar to the new Helpdesk features that allow people to check, change or cancel their vaccine appointments online, instead of through the JKJAV hotline.

Here are the facts…

Fact #1 : It Is Not A New MySejahtera App Feature

The viral messages ask us to open the MySejahtera app and tap on Helpdesk to get to the new vaccine appointment feature.

The truth is tapping on the Helpdesk option in the MySejahtera app merely opens up a web browser, and redirects you to the online MySejahtera Helpdesk website.

You don’t even need to use the MySejahtera app. You can access the MySejahtera Helpdesk website using any Internet browser via these links – English | Bahasa Melayu.

Fact #2 : It Is Just A New Help Option

The truth is – this is just a new Helpdesk option, to help people check for their COVID-19 vaccine appointments, and for the MySejahtera team identify those who didn’t get their vaccine appointments yet.

If you select B. 60 years old and above but haven’t received my appointment (Phase 2), you will be asked if you have  chronic illness or not.

Whatever option you select, you will be taught how to check for your vaccine appointment in MySejahtera :

  • Click on the COVID-19 Vaccination icon on the MySejahtera main page.
  • Choose the Vaccine for [your name] option to view your appointment details

And if you still do NOT see your vaccine appointment, then you are asked to submit your MySejahtera user ID (MySJ ID) and your MyKad or passport number.

In the next page, you will be asked to submit your mobile number and an email address for them to write back to you on what to do next.

This will allow the MySejahtera team to look into your vaccine appointment, or why your MySejahtera app does not display the vaccine appointments.

It does NOT mean you will be automatically given your COVID-19 vaccine appointments, as the viral messages claim.

Your COVID-19 vaccine appointment will be issued according to these criteria :

  • when you registered for COVID-19 vaccination
  • your age
  • if you have any co-morbidities (chronic illness)
  • your location

Nowhere in this process do you see it being mentioned that this feature allows you to request for a vaccine appointment.

Fact #3 : It Is More Convenient Than Calling Hotline

To be clear, this is a legitimate Helpdesk option to help senior citizens age 60 years and above check for their COVID-19 vaccine appointments.

It is no different than calling the JKJAV hotline at 1800-888-828, to ask why you have not received your vaccine appointment.

Now that this new Helpdesk option has been introduced, you should definitely use it instead of calling the JKJAV hotline, which is always busy and hard to get through.

Fact #4 : This Is Not A Vaccine Registration Feature

This new Helpdesk option helps to identify senior citizens who may not have received their appointments, possibly due to these reasons :

  • not aware of where to look for vaccine appointment details
  • did not even register for COVID-19 vaccination
  • MySejahtera app cache corruption

However, it is not a replacement for the COVID-19 vaccine registration process. You cannot use this “method” to ask for a COVID-19 vaccine appointment if you have not yet registered for it.

Even with the introduction of this new Helpdesk feature, you must still register yourself for COVID-19 vaccination through these five ways :

  1. The MySejahtera app – a future update will introduce a button to register for an appointment.
  2. The Vaksin COVID website.
  3. The telephone hotline : 1800-888-828
  4. Manually at health clinics, hospitals and private clinics
  5. House-to-house registration at targeted rural areas for senior citizens.

Please make sure you register for your free COVID-19 vaccine ASAP!

MySejahtera BootstrapMade Controversy Explained!

Is it true that the RM 70 million MySejahtera website was using a FREE BootstrapMade plan?

Find out what’s going on, and what the FACTS really are!

MySejahtera BootstrapMade Controversy : What Is It?

A TikTok creator called eryazmi shared a video on social media, which went viral.

Why? Because he showed how the RM 70 million MySejahtera website was just using a FREE BootstrapMade plan!

In his TikTok video, eryazmi showed that the MySejahtera website had a footer credit link – Designed by BootstrapMade.

He then showed that the footer credit link is there because the MySejahtera website team opted NOT to pay US$19 for a Pro Single BootstrapMade plan.

Instead, they opted for the free BootstrapMade plan, even though he explained early in the video – the MySejahtera app and website cost a whopping RM 70 million (US$17 million)!

You can watch his TikTok video here, but please read our FACT CHECK of his claims below after that.

MySejahtera BootstrapMade Controversy : The Facts!

eryazmi is correct that the MySejahtera team opted for the free BootstrapMade plan, but he made a number of misleading statements.

Let’s take a look at what the FACTS really are!

Fact #1 : BootstrapMade Is Free For Commercial Use

Bootstrap is a company that makes website templates that they sell on the BootstrapMade website.

They offer their templates for FREE to download and use, even for COMMERCIAL PROJECTS!

The only downside is that you cannot remove the footer credit link, and you cannot use it to create websites for clients.

Technically, there is nothing wrong for the MySejahtera team to create their website using a free Bootstrap plan, if they are an internal KKM team and not a third-party contractor.

Are they an internal team or a third-party contractor? We don’t know, and until we do, we cannot simply jump to conclusions.

Fact #2 : BootstrapMade Is Just A Website Template

BootstrapMade or Bootstrap templates are just basic design templates for creating your website.

You still need to customise it to suit your requirements, using your own photos and graphics. The Bootstrap team isn’t doing it for you – that’s for sure!

eryazmi‘s claim that the free plan lets the team just generate the MySejahtera website is just false and ludicrous.

Never mind customising the website, he ignored the cost of hosting the website, which likely requires multiple servers and load balancing due to the high traffic.

Fact #3 : Removing The Footer Credit Does Nothing

After the video went viral, the team apparently paid Bootstrap US$19 to remove the footer credit, which is no longer visible at the bottom of the MySejahtera website.

It’s a ONE-TIME charge, not a subscription, as eryazmi claimed.

What did that buy us? Absolutely NOTHING.

The presence, or lack thereof, of the BootstrapMade footer credit at the bottom of the MySejahtera website has ZERO implications on its performance, or the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme.

Nevertheless, it is good that they paid Bootstrap for the template, whether they are an internal KKM team, or a third-party contractor.

Fact #3 : RM 70 Million Not Just For MySejahtera App + Website

Early in the video, eryazmi claimed that RM 70 million was for the MySejahtera app and website. At the end of his video, he claimed that RM 70 million was just for this website.

Either way – he’s wrong.

As National Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, said earlier, RM 70 million is the amount BUDGETED for the management of the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK).

In other words – RM 70 million is the maximum amount, the ceiling price for multiple systems to run and manage PICK :

  • Management and monitoring of PICK performance indicators
  • Development of PICK daily report dashboard
  • System integration to connect the MySejahtera database with KKM’s existing pharmacy database
  • Development of chatbot
  • Development of the vaccination registration portal (VaksinCOVID.gov.my)
  • Registration and vaccination detection, and Google Map tracking system in MySejahtera
  • Development of genomic surveillance and immunisation surveillance systems
  • Queue Mobile management system for vaccination centres (PPVs)
  • Integration of digital (vaccination) passport system in MySejahtera
  • Logistic and vaccine delivery chain management system
  • Call center operations located in CITF
  • MyVAC (Malaysian Vaccine Support Volunteers) system for the management of volunteers.
  • SMS messaging and call reminders for 5-10 times for each person

It is therefore, categorically false for eryazmi to claim that RM 70 million is what the MySejahtera app and/or website costs.

1 Million AstraZeneca Doses Coming, But No More Opt-In!

More than 1 million more doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine are coming in, but they will no longer be available through the opt-in programme!

1 Million AstraZeneca Doses Coming, But No More Opt-In!

Malaysians are extremely worried, with over 7,000 new cases per day. That’s why the recent AstraZeneca 2.0 vaccine programme ran out in just over an hour!

But not to worry – a million more AstraZeneca vaccine doses are arriving in the next two months610,000 doses in June, and 410,000 doses in July!

These vaccine doses are manufactured by the AstraZeneca in Thailand, and therefore, is still subject to NPRA’s approval.

However, the government has decided to stop offering any AstraZeneca opt-in programmes in the future. There will be no longer be an AstraZeneca 3.0 programme, I’m afraid!

Once NPRA approves these Thai-manufactured AstraZeneca vaccine doses, they will be used together with the Pfizer and Sinovac vaccines in the main COVID-19 vaccination programme.

AstraZeneca Vaccine : Is It Safe To Get?

Many people are worried about the risk of getting blood clots from the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The fact is – the risk is incredibly small – certainly much, MUCH smaller than the risk of developing blood clots with COVID-19, which can be as high as 41% in positive patients, and up to 95% in severe COVID-19 cases.

Blood clots can also develop (through different mechanisms) with smoking and the use of oral contraceptive pills (OCP).

We created this table to better demonstrate the risk to you.

Risk Difference
Thrombocytopenia in
severe COVID-19 cases
Up to 95% 45,238X
Thrombocytopenia
in COVID-19 cases
Up to 41% 19,524X
Dying from COVID-19 Infection 0.25% to
10%
119X to 4762X
Thrombosis from OCP
(Adult)
Up to 0.46% 219X
Thrombosis from Smoking 0.18% 85.7X
Thrombosis from OCP
(Adolescents)
Up to 0.01% 4.8X
Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia
(AstraZeneca Vaccine)
0.0021% Baseline

So, is it safe to get the AstraZeneca vaccine that’s being offered to people age 18 years and above in Malaysia?

We can only tell you that the risk is exceedingly low. At most, 21 out of 1 million people who receive this vaccine will potentially develop this condition.

Based on the risk-benefit analysis performed by the EMA Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP), it is obvious that for a high-incidence country like Malaysia, the benefits far outweigh the risks.

More importantly, that we are aware of this particular side effect, both doctors and vaccine recipients can look out for the symptoms and quickly seek treatment.
