2021 Acer Chromebook 314

Weighing only 1.5 kg, the 2021 Acer Chromebook 314 (CB314-2H/CB314-2HT) is an ultra-portable laptop designed for students.

Its 14-inch IPS display has a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, and optional touch controls. It supports 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, and comes with a 720p HDR webcam.

Powered by the MediaTek MT8183 octa-core processor, it can provide up to 15 hours of battery life.

2021 Acer Chromebook 317

The 2021 Acer Chromebook 317 (CB317-1H) is targeted at users who want a large display for multitasking and streaming content.

It has a large 17.3-inch display with a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, and anti-glare coating. It also comes with a large keyboard (with optional backlighting) with a numeric keypad and a large touchpad.

There is also space for two full-sized upward-facing speakers to give you a more immersive audio experience.

The 2021 Chromebook 317 is built around the latest Intel Celeron processors with Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, and up to 10 hours of battery life.

The 2021 Acer Chromebook 514 (CB514-1W/CB514-1WT) is built around the 11th Gen Intel core processors, with up to 10 hours of battery life.

Thanks to its metal top cover and reinforced design, it is MIL-STD810H rated for military-grade durability. On top of that, its touchpad is protected against scratches and corrosion with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass.

It supports the latest Intel Wi-Fi 6 wireless connectivity, and comes with two full-function USB Type C ports with Thunderbolt 4, and a backlight keyboard with an optional embedded fingerprint reader.

2021 Lenovo YOGA Laptop Models Revealed!

The Yoga is Lenovo’s top-of-the-line consumer sub-brand, and is designed to offer refined craftsmanship and stunning design, for “consumers with sophisticated taste”.

Lenovo Yoga 6 AMD

The 2021 Lenovo Yoga 6 AMD is their first-generation consumer convertible laptop, that uses a hybrid design of metal and soft-touch materials wrapped in blue fabric.

This 13.3-inch, 2-in-1 convertible laptop features an AMD Ryzen 4000 series mobile processor with optional AMD Radeon graphics, with up to 16 GB of DDR4 memory an 1 TB of SSD storage.

It comes with a Full HD touch screen display, with narrow bezels and a backlit keyboard. It also comes with front facing stereo speakers that support Dolby Atmos.

Weighing only 1.32 kg, the Yoga 6 AMD offers up to 18 hours of battery life with a 60 Whr battery.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 9i

The 2021 Lenovo Yoga Slim 9i offers an exquisite Shadow Black genuine leather cover bonded to an aluminium chassis for a better feel and greater durability.

Built around the 11th Gen Intel Core processors, with Intel Xe Graphics, this 14-inch laptop is just 13.9 mm thick, and weighs just 1.29 kg.

Lenovo also offers a more powerful 15-inch option, powered by the 10th Gen Intel Core i9 HK-series mobile processor, and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti with Max-Q Design graphics.

Lenovo Yoga 9i

The 2021 Lenovo Yoga 9i offers an exquisite Shadow Black genuine leather cover bonded to an aluminium chassis, as well as an all-metal Mica option.

They both come with an edge-to-edge Glass Palm Rest with an encased Smart Sensor Touchpad with haptic feedback.

Built around the 11th Gen Intel Core processors, with Intel Xe Graphics, this 14-inch convertible laptop features thermal venting holes under the keyboard to lower its temperature by two degrees Celsius compared to the previous generation.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon

The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon is an ultra-light 13.3-inch laptop, with a 16:10 display and a thickness of just 14.25 mm and a weight of just 966 grams.

This is an Intel Evo-certified laptop, with a stunning Moon White finish, and a chassis made from carbon fibre with an anti-fingerprint finish.

11th Gen Intel Core, codenamed Tiger Lake, is the newly-launched mobile processor family, designed for thin and light laptops.

Built on the new Willow Cove microarchitecture, and fabricated on the 10 nm SuperFin process, it offers a bevy of new features :

  • LPDDR4X Support : allows for fast and more power-efficient LPDDR4X memory.
  • New Intel Iris Xe graphics : significantly improved graphics performance, with up to 96 EUs
  • New Intel DL Boost instruction set : enables neural network inferencing on integrated graphics, with native support for INT8

11th Gen Intel Core (Tiger Lake) : Performance

Intel is targeting their top-of-the-line Tiger Lake processor – the Core i7-1185G7 – against the AMD Ryzen 7 4800U.

We have to point out that this may not be quite a fair comparison since the Ryzen 7 4800U is an 8-core, 16-thread processor with an 8-core Vega GPU and a 15W TDP.

But that’s what Intel is showcasing – a face-off between their Core i7-1185G7 and the AMD Ryzen 7 4800U.

 

Intel Evo : Project Athena Second Edition

Intel is also introducing the Intel Evo platform, as part of the Project Athena Second Edition program.

Based on 11th Gen Core processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics, Intel Evo laptops must meet the Project Athena Second Edition experiences :

  • Consistent responsiveness on battery
  • System wake from sleep in less than 1 second
  • Nine or more hours of real-world battery life on systems with FHD displays
  • Fast charging with up to a four-hour charge in under 30 minutes on systems with FHD displays

To qualify for the Intel Evo platform and branding, laptop designs will have to meet or exceed these minimum specifications :

  • Intel Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+) 802.11ax
  • Thunderbolt 4
  • ≥ 256GB PCIe / NVMe SSD
  • ≥ 8GB Dual Channel Memory
  • Bluetooth 5 with Audio Offload
  • > 2 digital microphones of at least 63dB Signal to Noise ratio and +/- 1dB matching
  • High fidelity audio codec / speaker tuning and Intel Smart Sound Technology
  • Speaker Sound Pressure Level >78dB @ 50 cm and bass frequency <353 Hz
  • User-facing camera ≥ HD/720p @ 30fps
  • Voice Assistant with WoV – Cortana Premium Far Field requirements (≥4 m effective)
