Facebook, Instagram, Messenger + Workplace Down Again!

Facebook, Instagram, Messenger + Workplace Down Again!

Just days after going down for SIX HOURS, Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Workplace went down AGAIN!

Find out what happened!

Facebook, Instagram, Messenger + Workplace Down Again!

Just days after all of Facebook’s services went down for six hours, Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Workplace went down AGAIN!

At around 3:22 AM on 9 October 2021, they went down again… with people reporting that they were unable to log into their accounts, or send messages.

Fortunately, this time it didn’t take down WhatsApp and it took their engineering team just under 2 hours to get those Facebook services restored.

Why Did Facebook, Instagram, Messenger + Workplace Go Down Again!

Again, Facebook blamed another faulty “configuration change” for this downtime, but did not announce any details on what actually happened.

But coming right after an extraordinarily long downtime just days earlier and public testimony by Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen, this new downtime may be shorter but is no less grievous.

It will feed growing opinion that Facebook has too much services under its control, and it’s dangerous and even folly to let a single company control so many social networks and communication services.

Regulators will no doubt be spurred by this new incident to look at breaking up Facebook.

EU antitrust chief Margrethe Vestager said that the major Facebook outage highlighted the danger of relying on just a few big players, underscoring “the need for more rivals”.

Even Russia jumped into the fray, stating that Russia was right to develop its own Internet platforms and social networks.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that the recent 6-hour outage of Facebook services “answers the question of whether we need our own social networks and Internet platforms“.

We will be looking forward to Facebook Engineering’s explanation of what happened, and whether it involved cutting through doors to get to their servers…

Was Facebook Taken Down By 13 Year-Old Chinese Hacker?

Was Facebook taken down by a 13 year-old Chinese hacker?

Take a look at the viral claim, and find out what the FACTS really are!

Claim : Facebook Was Taken Down By 13 Year-Old Chinese Hacker!

On 4 October 2021, Facebook and ALL of its messaging and social media platforms went down for about six hours, including Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram!

Several websites, as well as people on Twitter and Facebook started claiming that Facebook was taken down by a 13 year-old Chinese hacker called Sun Jisu / Sun Ji Su / Sun Jiso / Sun Ji Soo.

There are quite a number of these claims, so just SKIP to the next section for the facts!

International media claimed that “China” was behind the suspension of social media services in the world.

According to Reuters, a Chinese hacker named “Sun Jisu” is responsible for stopping the services of “Facebook”, “WhatsApp” and Instagram, and added that the Chinese hackers are only 13 years old.

The Chinese hacker “Sun Ji Su” has topped the famous search engines and Twitter platforms during the past minutes, after disabling WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook today 2021 in all countries of the world, amid questions among activists about the details of this information.

Truth : Facebook Was Not Taken Down By 13 Year-Old Chinese Hacker!

The story of a 13 year-old Chinese hacker taking down Facebook is just fake news created by fake news / clickbait websites to go viral and get money through ads.

Here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : International Media Did Not Blame China

On one blamed China for the bizarre 6-hour downtime of Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.

The international media referred to cybersecurity specialists who pointed at DNS failure as the most likely cause, not a state actor like China.

Clickbait / fake news websites intentionally added that false claim to “trigger” Chinese netizens and Sinophiles to share their fake news.

Fact #2 : Reuters  + NYT Did Not Report On Any Chinese Hacker

Reuters did not report that a 13 year-old Chinese hacker called Sun Jisu was responsible for the bringing down Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger.

Neither did the New York Times write about a 13 year old hacker attacking Facebook.

These are complete lies that are easily verified with a quick check on the Reuters and New York Times websites.

Fact #3 : 13 Year-Old Sun Jisu / Sun Jiso Does Not Exist

There is no 13 year-old Chinese hacker called Sun Jisu / Sun Ji Su / Sun Ji So / Sun Ji Soo. He does NOT exist.

In addition, that is a Korean name, not Chinese – a mistake that a non-Asian person would make.

Fact #4 : That Was An Old Picture Of Wang Zhengyang

The fake news websites used a picture of Chinese hacking prodigy, Wang Zhengyang, speaking at the 2014 Chinese Internet Security Conference.

Wang Zhengyang was 13 year-old at that time, and would be 20 years old this year – 2021. Here are two more pictures of him speaking at that event.

Fact #5 : Facebook Services Were Brought Down By Configuration Changes

Facebook services were not brought down by a hacker, but configuration changes their own engineering team initiated internally.

Facebook’s Vice-President of Infrastructure, Santosh Janardhan, confirmed that “configuration changes” on their “backbone routers” caused the 6-hour long failure.

Our engineering teams have learned that configuration changes on the backbone routers that coordinate network traffic between our data centers caused issues that interrupted this communication. This disruption to network traffic had a cascading effect on the way our data centers communicate, bringing our services to a halt.

Fact #6 : Access Problems Were Caused By Same Servers

Facebook run their internal systems through the same servers, so they became inaccessible when those servers were taken offline.

This included security systems that controlled the fob door locks, with a New York Times reporter tweeting that Facebook staff were unable to gain access to an unspecified office using their keycards.

However, many Facebook staff are working from home due to COVID-19 precautions, so this was only a big problem for engineers trying to gain access to the Facebook data centre in Santa Clara, California.

At no time was this security issue caused by a hacker. It was due to the same servers that went offline.

Did 13 Yr Sun Jisu Hack Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram?

Did the 13 year-old Chinese hacker, Sun Jisu, hack Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, causing them to fail for more than 6 hours?

Practically all of them referred to cybersecurity specialists who pointed at DNS failure as the most likely cause, not a state actor like China.

Why Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram Went Down!

Facebook and ALL of its messaging and social media platforms went down for about six hours, including Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram!

Find out why they all went down at the same time, and for so long!

Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram + More DOWN!

The entire slew of messaging and social media platforms owned by Facebook was inaccessible for about six hours, including :

  • Facebook
  • Facebook Messenger
  • WhatsApp
  • Instagram
  • Oculus
  • Workplace

The failure also extended to Facebook authentication, which you may be using to log into third-party apps and games, with Pokemon Go and Match Master gamers have reported problems logging in.

This left Twitter as the only major social media network still up and running, which is ironic since it became the only way for Facebook to reach out to the world…

This massive outage couldn’t come at a worse time for Facebook, whose stock slumped about 5.5% after former employee and whistleblower, Frances Haugen, leaked internal documents to the Wall Street Journal.

She also accused her former firm of repeatedly and knowingly allowing the proliferation of hate speech and misinformation for profit. Really tough times for Team Zuckerberg indeed…

Even Edward Snowden chimed in, saying that the world has become a healthier place for one shining day…

Why Did Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram, etc. Go DOWN?

This massive, unprecedented GLOBAL outage appears to be caused by a DNS (Domain Name Server) failure.

The DNS service “translates” the plaintext link we use (www.facebook.com for example) into its actual numerical IP address (123.123.123.123 for example), allowing your app or browser to connect to the right server.

Without a working DNS service, no one is able to connect to any Facebook-owned service because the Internet no longer knows how to locate the right server.

CloudFlare senior vice-president Dane Knecht shared that the Facebook BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) routes have been “withdrawn from the Internet”, causing failure to connect through CloudFlare’s DNS service.

This was likely due to a configuration error on Facebook’s side, but coming one day after the story broke on Frances Haugen? It would be folly to rule out internal sabotage or a rush to remove some controversial features before she testified to the US Congress.

The conspiracy theory that it was a DDOS (Distributed Denial-of-Service) attack by Anonymous or some vigilante group is really farfetched. It would require an incredible amount of resources and coordination to not only bring down Facebook, but all the other services as well… at the same time!

Read more : Did 13 Year Old Sun Jisu Hack Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram?

Facebook’s Vice-President of Infrastructure, Santosh Janardhan, later confirmed that “configuration changes” on their “backbone routers” caused the 6-hour long failure.

Our engineering teams have learned that configuration changes on the backbone routers that coordinate network traffic between our data centers caused issues that interrupted this communication. This disruption to network traffic had a cascading effect on the way our data centers communicate, bringing our services to a halt.

He also asserted that it was a faulty configuration change, and no user data was compromised.

Our services are now back online and we’re actively working to fully return them to regular operations. We want to make clear at this time we believe the root cause of this outage was a faulty configuration change. We also have no evidence that user data was compromised as a result of this downtime.

While he blamed “the underlying cause” for impacting their ability. to “quickly diagnose and resolve the problem”, it is notable that it took Facebook engineering teams more than 6 hours to resolve a DNS failure.

It is now believed that the changes were made to Facebook’s Border Gateway Protocol, a mechanism that exchanges routing information to help figure out the fastest route for any request.

Apparently, the changes “withdrew” Facebook services from the DNS system, making it impossible for anyone to connect to them.

Even worse, Facebook ran their own systems through the same servers, so everything from engineering tool, messaging services and even security systems that controlled the key fob locks were no longer accessible.

So their engineering team had to rush to their data centres to manually reset the servers there.

Needless to say, this will be a big wake-up call for their engineering teams, and in the words of Russell Peters – “Somebody’s gonna get a hurt real bad!

It is also a big wake-up call for everyone using Facebook services. This massive outage is a reminder that we should NOT put all our eggs in one basket.

I believe it will at least temporarily spur the adoption of alternative messaging services like Telegram and Signal. Even Twitter should see a nice boost in Tweets and maybe new users.

Now, I’m not into conspiracy theories… but what are the odds of this failure happening just one day after Frances Haugen came out publicly against Facebook, and a day before she was set to testify before the US Congress?

Could these “configuration changes” be designed to remove some controversial features before Haugen’s testimony to the US Congress?

Could Facebook’s own engineering team have accidentally triggered the failure in their rush to remove those controversial features before she testified?

Did Germany Put All COVID-19 Vaccines On Hold?

Did Germany just put all COVID-19 vaccines on hold, because they are dangerous and no longer recommended?

Take a look at the new viral claim, and find out what the FACTS really are!

Claim : Germany Just Put All COVID-19 Vaccines On Hold!

This message has been circulating on WhatsApp, claiming that Germany just put all COVID-19 vaccines on hold b because they are dangerous and no longer recommended.

BREAKING NEWS!!

GERMANY HALTS ALL C19 VACCINES, SAYS THEY ARE UNSAFE AND NO LONGER RECOMMENDED!!

There has been a 2 week pause so they can reflect on the damages being caused to their people, NO ONE CAN GET IT and the vaxxine license has been put on pause!!

GO GERMANY!!

The message includes a link to a video of Stephan Kohn (Director of RKI), which claims :

⁣BREAKING
GERMANY HALTS ALL C19 VACCINES, SAYS THEY ARE UNSAFE AND NO LONGER RECOMMENDED!!

There has been a 2 week pause so they can reflect on the damages being caused to their people, NO ONE CAN GET IT and the vaxxine license has been put on pause!!

GO GERMANY!! – But the chessboards still at play… Germany has been rioting ALLOT PAST FEW MONTHS THIS WILL TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF UNTIL MORE ENFORCEMENTS COME.. To then put mandatory vaccines in place – WAKE UP

Truth : Germany Did NOT Put COVID-19 Vaccines On Hold!

Both the message and the video have gone viral on social media, and even WhatsApp and Telegram groups.

However, the truth is – Germany did NOT put COVID-19 vaccines on hold because they are dangerous or no longer recommended.

This is just a new example of COVID-19 fake news, and here are the FACTS…

Fact #1 : Germany Did Not Put COVID-19 Vaccines On Hold

The German government did not put COVID-19 vaccines on hold. Germany continues to administer COVID-19 vaccines.

In fact, Germany just achieved a new milestone – administering over 100 million doses, which Jens Spahn, the German Federal Minister of Health, announced on 25 August 2021 :

Another milestone : More than 100 million corona-vaccinations in in 6 months, that is one of the largest logistical achievements in our country’s history. This means that 64.4% (53.3 million) have been vaccinated at least once. 59.4% (49.4 million) have full protection. Thanks to everyone who helped!

I should point out that he announced this 3 days AFTER the Stephan Kohn video was released on Instagram.

So there is no doubt – Germany has not stopped vaccinating its citizens.

Fact #2 : Stephan Kohn Is Not Interim President Of Koch Institute

In this video, Stephan Kohn said that he was appointed as the Interim President of the Robert Koch Institute. That is not true.

Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. Lothar H. Wieler remains President of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), since he was appointed in 2015.

Fact #3 : Stephan Kohn Was Civil Servant In German Interior Ministry

Stephan Kohn was a senior civil servant in the KM4 section of the German Ministry of the Interior.

He came to prominence in May 2020, after penning an 86-page paper critical of Germany’s anti-pandemic measures.

After it was “leaked”, Stephan Kohn was suspended from his position. It is unknown if he remains in the German Ministry of the Interior.

Fact #4 : Video Is Not Real, Just Theatrics

The video was posted to the BasisCamp.live Instagram account on 22 August 2021, but it was not a genuine news broadcast.

It was theatrics – a “simulation” video created as part of the multi-day BasisCamp.live online event called “A Global Pandemic Exit Exercise“.

In that simulation, BasisCamp participants play-acted what they “would do” if they take over the German government. It’s even stated in the Instagram post (which I highlighted below) :

Breaking: New government changes course radically!

Stephan Kohn, the new RKI boss *, announces a moratorium against the vaccination and I states that there is no longer an epidemic situation. The vaccination should be suspended. Not possible? No, say experts from #science and #economy.

In the simulation game #BasisCamp, members of the #Corona Committee around lawyer Dr. Reiner #Fuellmich with scientists and members of the party #dieBasis for an alternative corona policy.

Here is my copy of the simulation video, featuring Stephan Kohn as the fake RKI Director (Robert Koch Institute President).

Fact #5 : die Basis Is A New German Political Party

die Basis – the informal name for Basisdemokratische Partei Deutschland (Basic Democratic Party of Germany) – is a new fringe German political party.

It features people like lawyer Reiner Fuellmich, conspiracy theorist Dr. Sucharit Bhakdi, and naturopath Diana Osterhage, and of course, Stephan Kohn.

Established in June 2020 as an anti-lockdown, anti-vaccination party, die Basis only gained prominence after German actor Volker Bruch join the party.

Even so, it only has about 22,800 members (as of July 2021) and only one district seat. So it is simply impossible for die Basis to take over the German government.

Fact #6 : COVID-19 Vaccines Are Safe + Effective

More than 5 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines have already been administered worldwide, as of 26 August 2021.

They have all been proven to be safe and effective in preventing hospitalisations and deaths in COVID-19 patients.

In countries where vaccination rates are high, hospitalisations and mortality rates have fallen even if the number of new cases has increased.

However, we are nowhere close to achieving herd immunity globally. Even the Germans have only fully-vaccinated less than 60% of their adult population.

So please stop believing in such fake news. Get vaccinated ASAP to protect yourself and your family against COVID-19!

And SHARE this article to WARN your family and friends, so they won’t get fooled too!

“You Wanna Kena Whacked?” Maskless Bully To Be Charged!

The maskless bully who threatened to “whack” people who asked him to put on a face mask will be charged in court!

Take a look at the two viral videos, and find out why this Covidiot will soon be charged in court!

Maskless Bully : “You Wanna Kena Whacked?”

In this viral video, a maskless bully wanted to buy food at this roadside stall, but became aggressive when confronted for not wearing his face mask.

He started cursing and threatening not just the stall owners, but also another customer in the video, “You wanna kena whacked?

The video naturally went viral on social media, and netizens soon identified him as Shyamalan Jaganathan, a 33-year old licensing consultant who once worked for the Echez Group.

Echez Group has since announced that Shyamalan has not worked with them since 2018, stating :

We want to express to you that this person does not work with us since 2018 and does not represent the values and principles of our company.

We have already taken the necessary measures so that he can no longer use our name in social networks.

Echez Group respects and promotes among its employees, collaborators, and associates the application of the Biosafety protocols required in each geography where we have presence.

When his MyKad and His LinkedIn profile became public, Shyamalan quickly deleted his LinkedIn account.

Unfortunately, that didn’t stop netizens from coming across and sharing a video of a previous encounter in which he was abusive to another gym user.

“You Wanna Kena Whacked” Maskless Bully To Be Charged!

The incident happened at Jalan Desa Bakti in Kuala Lumpur, at around 10:30 AM on 19 July 2021.

The stall owner’s daughter lodged a police report against Shyamalan a few hours after the incident.

The Brickfields police announced that they were investigating the matter under :

  • Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation
  • Regulation 17(1) of the Prevent and Control of Infectious Disease Regulations 2021 for breaking the Phase 1 SOP (not wearing a face mask)

On 20 July 2021, Deputy Brickfields OCPD Superintendent Basri Sagoni confirmed that they arrested Shyamalan near his house in Taman Desa Bakti at 8 PM last night.

On 21 July 2021, Brickfields District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Omar said that the police obtained a one-day remand extension, and he will be charged tomorrow (22 July 2021) for criminal intimidation and not following the COVID-19 SOP.

He could receive up to two years of prison and/or a fine for criminal intimidation, as well as a compound for violating the SOP.

Maskless Bully : Why He’s A Danger To Society

Shyalaman is just one of the few but very vocal people who refuse to abide by COVID-19 precautions, in particular – wearing a face mask in public.

If he has COVID-19, he can easily spread it to other people simply by standing next to them. When he walked up to the man in the video, he was more than just physically threatening the other customer.

This is a real concern as the Delta variant of COVID-19 is capable of infecting people in 5 to 15 seconds, if you do not wear a face mask.

That is why it is critical that everyone must wear a face mask in public, preferably double-masked, and put on a face shield or some kind of eyewear if possible.

You should maintain a physical distance of 2-3 metres from other people if you can. Please don’t be a Covidiot like Shyamalan.

And definitely GET VACCINATED against COVID-19.

Can COVID-19 Patients Request For Ivermectin In Malaysia?

Is it true that COVID-19 patients in Malaysia can now request to be treated with ivermectin in hospitals?

Find out what’s the new ivermectin claim, and what the FACTS really are!

Why People Think You Can Request For Ivermectin In Malaysia?

Recently, people discovered that the Malaysia Ministry of Health (KKM) allows off-label use of ivermectin in hospitals.

The ability of hospitals to apply for off-label use of medicine, not just ivermectin, has always been there. People just did not know that.

Unfortunately, this led people to falsely claim that COVID-19 patients in Malaysia can now request to be treated with ivermectin.

Here are some examples (with our English translation) :

The Ministry of Health is allowing hospitals to use ivermectin “off-label”, meaning for purposes beyond what has been decreed. This is a huge step forward. Those patients who want ivermectin can ask for it.

MOH now allows special off label use for patients who are interested in using ivermectin.

For now, this is only for hospital patients and patients who #request, not for general treatment and home quarantine.

This requires the consent of both parties.

Those in the hospital, don’t be shy to ask. I hope supply is enough.

KKM benarkan off label use khas untuk pesakit yg berminat untuk guna IVRMCTN.

Buat masa sekarang, ini hanya untuk pesakit hospital dan pesakit yang #request sahaja bukan rawatan umum dan quarantine rumah.

Hendaklan dapatkan persetujuan kedua-dua pihak.

Yg di hospital tu jangan malu-malu minta. I hope supply is enough.

COVID-19 Patients Cannot Request For Ivermectin In Malaysia!

Those viral messages are all FALSE!

COVID-19 patients in Malaysia cannot request to be treated with ivermectin in hospitals.

On 10 July 2021, the Malaysia Ministry of Health denounced those viral messages as FALSE. Here is our English translation :

The content of the viral post is found to be false.

For your information, the off-label use of ivermectin for COVID-19 treatment in Malaysia is only for clinical studies. Not at the request of patients in the hospital.

Tular mengenai posting seperti berikut.

Currently, COVID-19 patients with mild or moderate symptoms (Stage 2-3) are being enrolled in the Ivermectin Treatment Efficacy in COVID-19 High-Risk Patients (I-TECH) trial that is being conducted by the Institute for Clinical Research (ICR).

We should point out that ivermectin is not approved for human use in Malaysia, and that the illegal sale of ivermectin is subject to a massive fine of up to RM 50,000, and/or up to 5 years of jail.

Facebook Rolls Out Click To WhatsApp Ads!

You may not have noticed this, but Facebook has started rolling out Click to WhatsApp ads!

Find out what this means for business and customers on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp!

Facebook Rolls Out Click To WhatsApp Ads!

WhatsApp founders may have promised not to monetise their platform by selling ads, but that was nine years ago, and before they sold out to Facebook in 2014.

At that time, Jan Koum promised that WhatsApp wouldn’t collect and share data of its users. That changed in 2016 and 2021.

So it seems inevitable that Facebook will eventually introduce ads in WhatsApp. They even accidentally let it slip (see below).

But for now, you can rest easy. They are only introducing Click to WhatsApp ads on Facebook and Instagram at the moment…

Originally kicking off in 2017, Facebook has started pushing Click to WhatsApp ads in Asia. Page owners may be surprised by reminders to connect their pages to WhatsApp.

Ignoring this reminder will invite the warning that you cannot run WhatsApp ads, or add a WhatsApp button to your Page.

We are not sure if that’s a Freudian slip, but Facebook actually mentioned WhatsApp ads. LOL!

Click To WhatsApp Ads : What Are They?

These are regular Facebook and Instagram ads, with the additional Send Message button.

Clicking on that button will open a conversation thread in WhatsApp with the Facebook / Instagram business owners (using the WhatsApp Business app).

This allows you to interact directly with the business, like you would using Facebook Messenger.

This makes it easier for businesses to reach the 1.5 billion WhatsApp users around the world, who will like how much easier it is to directly message them using WhatsApp.

On the other hand, it is likely to make it easier for scammers who are already leveraging Facebook ads to cheat people.

Did Larry King Die From COVID-19 After Surviving Cancer?

Did Larry King die from COVID-19 after surviving TWO cancers, heart surgery, and SEVEN WIVES?

Find out what the viral news about Larry King’s death, and what the FACTS really are!

Did Larry King Die From COVID-19 After Surviving Cancer?

This is the advice that has been circulating on Instagram and WhatsApp about Larry King dying from COVID-19 :

Larry King was diabetic

He survived 2 cancers : lung and prostate

He survived quintuple bypass heart surgery

He survived at least two cardiac arrest

He survived SEVEN WIVES

Then Covid happened…

WEAR YOUR DAMN MASK

No, Larry King Did NOT Die From COVID-19

As much as we admire the effectiveness of the message in reminding people to wear a face mask to protect themselves against COVID-19, Larry King did not die from COVID-19.

That said, please WEAR A FACE MASK, distance yourself from other people in public, and practice good hand hygiene, to protect yourself against COVID-19!

Here are the facts about what Larry King went through in life, and his death.

Fact #1 : Larry King Had Lung + Prostate Cancers

In 1999, Larry King was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and was successfully treated for it.

Then in 2017, he had surgery to remove a lump in his lung, that turned out to be malignant.

Fact #2 : Larry King Had One Known Heart Attack

Larry King had a heart attack in 1987, which led to a quintuple heart-bypass surgery.

This was followed by an angioplasty in 1997 for a clogged heart vessel. Ten years later, he had angioplasty and stents inserted.

Fact #3 : Larry King Survived A Stroke

In March 2019, he suffered a stroke and was in coma for weeks. He survived that, but lost some function in his left foot.

Fact #4 : Larry King Had 7 Wives In 8 Marriages

Larry King was actually married eight times, to seven different women.

  • Freda Miller in 1952
  • Annette Kaye in 1961
  • Alene Akins in 1961
  • Mickey Sutphin in 1964
  • Alene Akins (again) in 1968
  • Sharon Lepore in 1976
  • Julie Alexander in 1989
  • Shawn Southwick in 1997

Fact #5 : Larry King Had COVID-19 But Died Of Sepsis

Larry King was hospitalised for COVID-19 in December 2020, and died on 23 January 2021.

However, his ex-wife Shawn Southwick (whom he divorced in 2019) said that he recovered from COVID-19, but died of sepsis as a complication.

It can be argued though that if he didn’t contract COVID-19, he wouldn’t have suffered from sepsis during his recovery…

Antivaxxers Keep Creating Fake Tiffany Dover Death Claims!

Antivaxxers are still creating and spreading fake death claims about Tiffany Dover, while hounding her family and her!

Find out what’s going on, and what YOU can do to help Tiffany Dover and her family!

Tiffany Dover : Who Is She? What’s Going On?

Here’s a quick primer for those who have not heard of Tiffany Dover, or what has energised anti-vaccination groups recently.

On 17 December 2020, Tiffany Dover fainted on live TV after getting her Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, due to vasovagal syncope – a very common condition.

She recovered within minutes, and explained that it wasn’t a surprise because she often faints when she feels pain.

However, antivaxxers pounced on the incident as evidence that the Pfizer BNT162b2 vaccine is dangerous, sharing edited versions of the video to sow fear, doubt and uncertainty about the vaccine.

Antivaxxers Keep Creating Fake Tiffany Dover Death Claims!

After her fainting episode was explained and the full video was shared, antivaxxers had to switch gears.

They decided to claim that Tiffany Dover later DIED, after recovering from her fainting spell.

Here are three examples…

Joe Leonard

It looks like rumors of Tiffany Dover’s death are TRUE and it is being covered up.

No activity since her highly publicized public vaccination despite regular use of Instagram. No replies to dozens of questions. Family set their profiles to private.

RIP

Kitty Lynn

OMFG! FAINTING NURSE DIED
Tiffany Dover IS DEAD

I saw that fainting nurse died, so I checked it out!
This death record has to be her! Same town, age, and most importantly, the family listed all show up as her friends on fb!

Shannon Haas

BREAKING There is reports Tiffany Dover is dead. She is the nurse who collapsed on live television when being interviewed about the vaccine. We can’t confirm it, we are trying to collect as much intel as possible.
INTEL WE KNOW
– She is from Tennessee
– She collapsed 15+ minutes after taking the Pfizer vaccine on live television
– Her Instagram account is tiffany_dover_ and she hasn’t posted for 5 days, she generally posts every 2-3 days
– There is social media posts about her death from people who were allegedly connected to her or her family
– There is reports of death threats against her family for sharing the info
– There is reports of censorship
– The debunkers are saying it is all false but are providing very little evidence

Someone even created a fake Tiffany Dover memorial page on Instagram (now removed), saying :

She will always be remembered for her bravery. She was a wonderful nurse. #nurse #bravery #covid_19 #tiffanydover #inmemoryof #hospital #alwaysremember

It gained 1650 followers before Instagram finally shut it down. While it was up, antivaxxers used it to promote the claim that she truly did die after being vaccinated with the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.

How To Help Tiffany Dover With These Fake Death Claims

Creating and sharing fake death claims about Tiffany Dover isn’t about “having an open mind” or “just investigating the truth” or “exploring the possibilities“.

This is literally cyberbullying!

And it doesn’t even stop with fake death claims. People are also hounding her family and friends, calling them fake or crisis actors.

Help stop this cyberbullying of Tiffany Dover, her family and her friends, by :

  • sharing such fact check articles, including this and this.
  • telling the truth to those who shared with you those fake claims
  • sharing the fact check links as comments on those fake social media posts
  • DO NOT SHARE those fake social media posts

Why Tiffany Dover Death Claims Are ALL FAKE!

Fact #1 : Tiffany Dover Is Alive And Well!

According to the NewsChannel 9 ABC crew who recorded the whole event on 17 December 2020, Tiffany Dover quickly recovered, and within minutes, was able to get up and speak with them again.

While antivaxxers are claiming that she subsequently died, those are complete lies. She did NOT die.

Her hospital – CHI Memorial – posted this tweet two days later, confirming that she is well, asking that people give her and her family privacy.

Fact #2 : Tiffany Dover Alive And Well On Video, 4 Days Later!

On 21 December 2020, CHI Memorial followed up with a short video showing that she is alive and well, surrounded by her colleagues.

To prove that it was not filmed before her vaccination and alleged “death”, they held up banners that said, “Nursing Leadership Vaccinated Together, #CHIMemorialStrong” and the date “12-21-20“.

Fact #3 : People Found The Wrong Death Record

Conspiracy theorists and antivaxxers are parading online search results showing her death record.

Many searched Tiffany Dover in the wrong state, because they thought she was a nurse in Alabama. Is it any wonder she got the wrong death record?

Some even assumed that SearchQuarry lists only dead people. It’s actually a search engine for public records in the United States.

With such amazing keyboard investigators, who needs the FBI?

Fact #4 : Tiffany Dover Is Not A Unique Name

As unique as Tiffany Dover surely is as a person, her name isn’t unique.

In the entire US, there are currently 47 Tiffany Dovers, with nine of them in Tennessee. And no, they are NOT CLONES, as some people are alleging.

And they do not include Tiffany Dovers who have actually passed away years or even decades ago.

Fact #5 : People Are Not Obligated To Be Active On Social Media

Skeptics like Shannon Haas claim that she must be dead because “she hasn’t posted for 5 days” even though “she generally posts every 2-3 days“.

First of all, NO ONE is obligated to post anything on social media, much less maintain their activity level.

Secondly, a lack of updates does NOT mean she is dead. Some of us actually have lives, like a real social life outside of social media?

Let’s not forget that she’s a nurse manager in CHI Memorial, which is not only actively treating COVID-19 patients, they are also working to administer the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

So is it really that surprising if she has been too busy to update your stalkers with her latest selfies?

But since you are so “concerned” about her well-being, here’s a photo of Tiffany Dover with her CHI Memorial colleagues on 21 December 2020 :

Fact #6 : Claims Of Reports Are Just Claims, Not Actual Evidence

People like Shannon Haas, Joe Leonard and Kitty Lynn are not true skeptics. They are just too damn lazy to go beyond making unverified claims on social media.

He claimed that there are “reports of death threats against her family for sharing the info” and “reports of censorship“.

But when a friend asked for links for those reports, he could only reply, “Not sure.” I kid you not.

Yet, he had no qualms claiming too that “debunkers are saying it is all false but are providing very little evidence“.

If you see claims like that, WITHOUT EVIDENCE, please treat it the same way you would if someone told you he/she can fly without wings.

With the utmost skepticism : Yeah, sure, bro… sure… preferably with a middle finger.

Fact Check : Lincoln Memorial Defaced By BLM Protestors!

Did Black Lives Matter protestors deface the famous Abraham Lincoln statue at the Lincoln Memorial?

Find out if the Lincoln Memorial was really vandalised, and what the FACTS really are!

Claim : Lincoln Memorial Defaced By BLM Protestors!

Black Lives Matter protestors are being accused of defacing the famous Abraham Lincoln statue at the Lincoln Memorial, and here is the picture to prove it!

This picture of the Abraham Lincoln statue spray painted with graffiti has been shared on Facebook, Twitter, etc. as evidence of the Black Lives Matter movement’s complete lack of respect for sacred American monuments.

The graffiti had messages like Black + Brown Lives Matter, #BLM, Justice, The Real Martyrs, George Floyd.

Lincoln Memorial Defaced By BLM Protestors : The Facts

Fact #1 : The Picture Is Fake

The picture is fake, and was edited by mapping graffiti over a picture of the Abraham Lincoln statue.

The creator did a poor job of it, lopping off the left side of the head. If that was intentionally meant to look like protestors did it, it was done badly.

The graffiti also looked odd, because he/she was mapping a 2D image over what’s really a 3D object.

Fact #2 : The Lincoln Memorial Was Protected By The National Guard

It would also be quite a feat for the BLM protestors to vandalise the Abraham Lincoln statue itself, since the DC National Guard was deployed to protect it.

Members of the D.C. National Guard stand on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial as demonstrators participate in a peaceful protest against police brutality and the death of George Floyd (Photo by Win McNamee/Getty Images)

Fact #3 : An Outer Column Was Slightly Spray-Painted

One of the outer columns at the Lincoln Memorial had Yall Not Tired Yet? spray-painted in black on the night of 30 May 2020.

However, there is no way to know whether BLM protestors or anti-protestors was responsible. The message is ambiguous.

Photo Credit : Carolyn Kaster, early Sunday May 31, 2020

Further down, the National World War II Memorial was vandalised, this time with a clearer meaning – Do Black Vets Count?

Fact #4 : National Mall and Memorial Parks Confirmed The Limited Damage

National Mall and Memorial Parks confirmed both graffitis and cleaned them up by 4 June 2020.

Fact #5 : The Lincoln Memorial Had Been Vandalised In The Past

Frankly speaking, this isn’t the first time the Lincoln Memorial was vandalised or defaced. In fact, someone actually sprayed green paint on the Abraham Lincoln statue in 2013!

In 2017, explicit graffiti was spray-painted on an inner column in the Lincoln Memorial.

Disinformation Campaigns

This fake picture is part of a slew of similar fake news about the George Floyd / BLM protests in the US :

So beware of similar fake posts, because they appear to be part of disinformation campaigns.

GrabPay Scam : Don’t Link Your Debit Card / Bank Account!

Beware of a new GrabPay scam that can quickly suck your debit cards and bank account dry!

Don’t link your debit card or bank account with GrabPay, and SHARE this warning with your family and friends!

GrabPay Scam Alert : Don’t Link Your Bank Account!

On 16 May 2020, Muhammad Syahir recounted how he was cheated of almost RM 900 through a GrayPay scam. Here is a brief summary of what happened :

  • The scammer created a new Instagram account, pretending to be the victim’s friend.
  • He messaged the victim asking for his phone number.
  • After receiving the victim’s phone number, he messaged him through Instagram to tell him about the GrabPay 8th Anniversary Campaign.
  • The victim was asked to look out for a GrabPay code, which would reveal what he won.

  • After sending the GrabPay code (not a TAC code) to the scammer, the victim saw RM 425 being debited into his GrabPay account. Unbeknownst to him, that money was from his own bank account!
  • A few minutes later, the victim received a notification that the RM 425 was paid to UNIPIN (M) SDN. BHD.
  • The scammer messaged him again on Instagram, asking for a second code that was sent to the victim.
  • The victim then received another notification from GrabPay stating that another RM 425 was paid to UNIPIN (M) SDN. BHD.
  • After that, the scammer blocked the victim on Instagram. That was when the victim got suspicious.
  • When the victim checked his bank account, he discovered that he lost RM 896.30 to the scammer.
  • In total, the scammer made 5 withdrawals through GrabPay – four from his debit card, and one from his bank account.

Another person – Patrick Saw – also fell for the same GrabPay scam, losing RM 405.

GrabPay Scam Alert : GrabPay Flaws?

Muhammad Syahir highlighted what he felt were major flaws with GrabPay :

  1. GrabPay allows credit / debit card transactions without CVV verification or OTP from the bank.
  2. GrabPay will not notify you about any first-time login attempt of a different gadget in a different location.
  3. GrabPay does not require users to set-up a secured PIN for any big transactions – e.g. more than RM100.
  4. If your bank account is linked to your GrabPay e-wallet, there won’t be any SMS notification for bank transfers to your e-wallet.

According to his experience, the scammer only needed to use the Grab Activation Code to withdraw money from all bank accounts / debit cards linked to your GrabPay app.

GrabPay Scam Alert : How To Avoid It?

To avoid falling prey to such a scam, here is what you should do :

  • NEVER accept a friendship request from a new social media account, until you have verified with your friend (through a phone call or face-to-face) that he/she created that new account.
  • NEVER send any code you receive to anyone. Even if it is a friend, why does he/she need the code that was sent to YOU?
  • Businesses will never give away free money for anniversaries. Don’t fall for such an old trick!
  • NEVER link your debit card or bank account to an e-wallet. Only link a credit card, because they are insured and protected against fraud. If you get scammed, you can call the bank to ask for a refund.

GrabPay Scam Alert : Original Post + Police Report

Here was what Muhammad Syahir posted earlier, together with his police report :

SCAM ALERT VIA GRAB PAY!
It happened to me last night and I have lost almost RM1K in a few minutes via Grab Pay.

The incident happened when one of my close friends re-created a new Instagram account and requested to follow me. He messaged me and asked for my phone number via Instagram message. Without any doubt, I gave him my phone number, knowing that he probably has lost my phone number.

He posted a few photos to his newly-created Instagram account so it does not look like a phishing account.

After that, he sent another message to me about GrabPay 8th year special campaign. He was telling me that I will send a message with a code to your phone and please let me know the code and I will see what you have won.

Grab Activation Code was sent to my phone number. It was an activation code not TAC code. I gave the activation code to him without any doubt because I know that he is my friend. Also, I was thinking of this is just an activation code, it has nothing to do with my bank accounts.

The tricks started here. I saw RM425 was debited to my GrabPay account and I did not know that it was from my bank account which was linked to the GrabPay account. After a few minutes, I received a new notification from the GrabPay that RM425 was paid to UNIPIN (M) SDN BHD.

The scammer then messaged me again on Instagram. Another activation code was sent to your phone, please let me know the code. Then, I have received another notification from GrabPay that another RM425 was paid to UNIPIN (M) SDN BHD.

When I was about to reply him a message, he blocked me up. That was the time that I know something fishy has happened. When I checked my Maybank2u, I have lost a total amount of RM896.30 from my bank account. The scammer has cleared all the money in my bank account and left RM60 balance to my GrabPay.

The scammer did a total of 5 transactions as you can see from my GrabPay activity picture below. 4 transactions were made directly via debit card which is linked to my GrabPay account and 1 transaction was made via Maybank2u. The scammer even managed to access my Maybank2u account from the GrabPay account.

It happened to me in a blink of an eye where you were blinded by this scammer who cat fished your close friend to do this scam.

On top of that, let me highlight the flaws of the GrabPay app:

1) Grab allows credit/debit card transaction without the bank’s authorization OTP and also the CVV verification.
2) Grab does not notify the user via email for any first-time login attempts of different gadgets in different location.
3) Upon registering this app for the past few years, Grab did not put a clause for the users to mandatorily set up their secured pin for any big transactions that are more than RM100.
4) Your bank account that is linked to your GrabPay will not notify you via sms for any debit transaction from the bank to the GrabPay.

*The scammer just need the Grab Activation Code and he can take all the money from your linked bank accounts on the Grab app. Such a flaw app!

Please be aware of this scam and help me to share this news. I have also tag a person who has faced the same case last week. You may also check on his Facebook profile. Patrick Saw has lost RM405 from the scammer who has approached him the same way as mine.

Cyber Crime WhatsApp Warning Hoax Debunked!

The Cyber Crime hoax on WhatsApp is circulating, warning people that they are being monitored by the government.

Well, not to worry – unless you are living in China – this is yet another Internet hoax. Here is why we know that…

The Cyber Crime WhatsApp Warning Hoax

This is the Cyber Crime warning hoax that has been circulating on WhatsApp :

From tomorrow onwards there are new communication regulations.

All calls are recorded

All phone call recordings saved

WhatsApp is monitored

Twitter is monitored

Facebook is monitored

All social media and forums are monitored

Inform those who do not know.

Your devices are connected to ministry systems.

Take care not to send unnecessary messages

Inform your children, Relatives and friends about this to take care

Don’t forward any posts or videos etc., you receive regarding politics/present situation about Government/PM etc.

Police have put out a notification termed ..Cyber Crime … and action will be taken…just don’t delete …

Inform your friends & others too.

Writing or forwarding any msg on any political & religious debate is an offence now….arrest without warrant…

This is very serious, plz let it be known to all our groups and individual members as group admin can b in deep trouble.

Take care not to send unnecessary messages.
Inform everyone about this to take care.

Please share it; it’s very much true. Groups please be careful.

Note that it’s generic enough that it can apply to almost any government in the world.

The Cyber Crime WhatsApp Warning Hoax Debunked!

And here is why this is nothing more than yet another Internet hoax :

Only China Is Capable Of Doing This

The only country that has accomplished most of what was shared above is China, but it took them decades to erect the Great Firewall of China.

It’s not just the massive infrastructure that needs to be created, it also requires legislation to be enacted, and considerable manpower and resources to maintain such a system.

That’s why China is leaning heavily on AI and cloud computing capabilities to automatically and quickly censor information deemed “sensitive”.

However, no other country has come close to spending the money and resources on a similar scale, although Cuba, Vietnam, Zimbabwe and Belarus have imported some surveillance technology from China.

WhatsApp, Instagram + Facebook Messenger Have End-to-End Encryption

All three Facebook-owned apps are now running on the same common platform, which provides end-to-end encryption.

End-to-end encryption protects messages as they travel through the Internet, and specifically prevents anyone (bad guys or your friendly government censor) from snooping into your conversation.

That is also why all three are banned in China…

The Police Cannot Enact Laws

There are cybercrime laws in most, if not every, country in the world. But they are all enacted by legislative bodies of some sort, not the police.

The police is the executive arm in a country, empowered to enforce the law. They do not have the power to create a law, and then act on it.

Even The Government Has Debunked It!

Just in case you are still not convinced, even the Malaysian government issued a fact check on this hoax, debunking it as fake news :

Basically, it states “The Ministry of Home Affairs has NEVER recorded telephone calls or monitored social media in this country“.

DYKT you can share Netflix titles on Instagram Stories on both iPhone and Android smartphones? Here is how to do it on both platforms!

Sharing Netflix Titles On Instagram Stories

Netflix first announced the capability to share Netflix titles on Instagram Stories on 22 January 2019, but it was limited to their iPhone app.

That changed on 16 May 2019, when they finally released the same capability on their Android app.

Here is how you can share Netflix titles on Instagram Stories using these platforms :

Apple iPhone

The current Netflix iPhone app has an Instagram Stories share link. With this new feature, you can :

  1. Select a Netflix title you want to share
  2. Add the Netflix title’s custom art
  3. Share it to Instagram Stories, or to your friends as a direct message

The Instagram story remains visible for 24 hours, and provides a “Watch On Netflix” link back to the title page within the Netflix app.

“We’re always on the lookout for ways to make it easier for members to share the Netflix titles they’re obsessing about and help them discover something new to watch. We hope our members enjoy this new feature!” said Leigh Wong Netflix’s Head of Communications for Southeast Asia.

Android Smartphones

The latest Netflix Android app will have a new Instagram Stories share link.

  1. Select a Netflix title you want to share
  2. You can personalise the default art further to add captions, stickers, and more
  3. Share it to Instagram Stories, or to your friends as a direct message

“Sharing to Instagram Stories is now on all Android phones. You can share the shows and films you’re in love with directly from the Netflix app to your followers. Pop in a quiz for your friends to guess your favourite character from a show. Or a GIF to reflect your mood after a movie. It’s all part of what we’re doing to make it fun and easy to share what you’re watching, and help your friends find something new to watch.” said Netflix

Snapchat Sharing Coming Soon!

Netflix will also be adding Snapchat sharing to both iPhone and Android apps later this year.

Guess What – Facebook Is 15 Years Old!

Unbelievable but on 6 February 2019, Facebook is 15 years old! To celebrate, Facebook shared with us a historical timeline of the key events and achievements over the past 15 years. Check it out!

Facebook Is 15 Years Old!

The Facebook team has undergone a fair bit of tumult in recent days, to put it mildly. After the chaos of Apple revoking their Enterprise Certificate, and the revelation that they will be unifying the communications protocol powering WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger, it must be a welcome change to be able to talk about something positive for a change.

Since our founding in 2004, friendships have been core to what Facebook is all about. We have learned a lot over the past 15 years and today, we have a fundamentally different take on how we run our company, even compared to a year ago.

We still have a long way to go, and are encouraged to see people use Facebook everyday to stay connected with friends and family, to discover what’s going on in the world, and to share and express what matters to them most. We are looking forward to continue building for the future.

Like Facebook or hate them, you have to admit – they have come a LONG WAY in the past 15 years. The timeline does not mention it, but as of December 2018, Facebook has 2.32 BILLION active users per month.

Now, while we all enjoy some schadenfreude, that is an achievement not to be scoffed at. We would love to have even 0.000001% of that reach!

So congratulations, Facebook and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

FB Messenger, Instagram + WhatsApp Integration Clarified!

Since the story broke about the Facebook Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp integration plan, the world exploded in a mixture of shock, apoplexy, and righteous indignation.

Take a DEEP BREATH and CALM DOWN. Let us tell you exactly what the FB Messenger + Instagram + WhatsApp integration plan is really about, and what it really means for Facebook and all of us…

The FB Messenger + Instagram + WhatsApp Integration Plan Clarified!

What Is Going On?

The New York Times broke the story on 25 January 2019, that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is working to integrate the messaging services that power Facebook Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp.

Essentially, he wants all three platforms to use the same messaging platform or protocol to communicate.

Are The Three Apps Being Merged?

NO.

Some reports (looking at your, Forbes and BBC!) have claimed that WhatsApp is merging with Facebook Messenger and Instagram, or that WhatsApp and Instagram will be integrated with Facebook Messenger. That is NOT TRUE.

Facebook is not going to combine all three apps into a single mega-app – the one app to rule them all. WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger will continue to be separate apps.

What Exactly Has Changed?

NOTHING at the moment. This FB Messenger + Instagram + WhatsApp integration project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2019, or early 2020.

Until the new unified messaging protocol is complete and implemented in all three apps, nothing will change. At the moment, all three apps continue to use their existing messaging protocols.

What We Know About The Messenger + Instagram + WhatsApp Integration Plan So Far

Let’s enumerate what we know about the FB Messenger + Instagram + WhatsApp integration plan :

  1. All three apps will still function independently
  2. All three apps will use the same messaging protocol
  3. The new unified messaging protocol will support end-to-end encryption

Why Does Facebook Want To Do This?

Migrating all three apps to a unified messaging protocol or platform has some real advantages for Facebook :

  • far less work is needed to maintain a single platform or set of protocols, than three different platforms or sets of protocols
  • it will extend the reach of their three apps, helping to “encourage” users of one app to use the other two apps.
  • it will make it easier for them to harvest more information, to create more accurate user profiles.
  • it should make it easier to introduce or extend new features into all three apps, e.g. time-limited Stories.

Is This Good Or Bad For Users?

There are some potential advantages for users…

  • users of any one of those three apps will be able to communicate with each other, without installing the other apps.
  • users of any one of those three apps will be able to share data (photos, videos, files, etc.) with each other, without installing the other apps.
  • it will introduce end-to-end encryption to Instagram, which does not yet support it.
  • potentially, it could mean end-to-end encryption will be enabled by default for Facebook Messenger (which currently only supports end-to-end encryption if you turn on Secret Conversations).
  • it could promote greater accountability and transparency, with a reduction in fake accounts and profiles.

On the other hand, the tighter integration has some serious potential ramifications…

  • it will be harder to obfuscate or separate your profile in one app, from your profiles in the other two apps.
  • any bug or vulnerability in the unified messaging protocol will affect all three apps.
  • any successful attack will cause far greater damage, with far more data lost or stolen.
  • it does not address serious privacy concerns – even if end-to-end encryption is enabled by default for all three apps in the new unified messaging protocol, the metadata isn’t.
  • it may make it more difficult for users to consider alternative apps or services.
  • abusing one app (intentional or otherwise) could get you banned or blocked on all three apps.

How Serious Are These Concerns?

The New York Times reported that Mark Zuckerberg’s “championing” of the FB Messenger + Instagram + WhatsApp integration plan led to “internal strife” over privacy concerns. How bad?

Apparently, it led to the founders of both Instagram (Kevin System and Mike Krieger) and WhatsApp (Jan Koum and Brian Acton) leaving Facebook. Dozens of WhatsApp employees also clashed with Mark Zuckerberg over this integration plan.

But Don’t Panic Just Yet…

There is no need to be one of those headless chickens running around, screaming that the world has ended or is about to end. The WhatsApp Messenger you have come to rely on has not changed, or will change for many more months to come.

The project is still in its infancy. Facebook is internally planning to complete the project by the end of 2019, and probably early 2020. There is still the better part of the year to consider alternative messaging apps out there.
