HUAWEI New Year Gift Scam : Do NOT Click Or Share!
Scammers are sending out this message on WhatsApp, claiming that HUAWEI is giving away New Year gifts.
Please do NOT click on the message, or share it. Just delete it and warn your family and friends!
Why This HUAWEI New Year Gift Offer Is A Scam
Let us show you why this HUAWEI New Year Gift offer (and similar offers) is just a scam.
If you spot any of these warning signs, BACK OFF and DO NOT PROCEED!
Warning Sign #1 : Not Using The Real HUAWEI Domain
A genuine HUAWEI campaign would use the real HUAWEI domain – www.huawei.com.
The use of a different domain (2021-whatsapp3w.bar) should warn you that this is not a legitimate HUAWEI website.
Warning Sign #2 : HUAWEI Does Not Give Away Free Gifts
HUAWEI is a for-profit corporation whose goal is to make money, not give it away.
They are not a charity, and will never give free gifts to celebrate a new year, or anniversary.
They only give free gifts to promote the purchase of their latest products.
Warning Sign #3 : Ridiculous Prizes
While brands may sometimes give away branded swag like a face mask, a t-shirt, or a cap; they will NEVER give away CASH as a prize.
And there is no way they would give away US$5,000 cash prizes. That’s just nuts! It should be cheaper to just give away one of their latest Mate 40 Pro smartphones.

The HUAWEI Watch Fit comes in a nice white retail box, which we unboxed in this video.
Inside, you will find the following items :
HUAWEI Watch Fit smartwatch
Charging Cable + Dock
Quick Start Guide
HUAWEI Watch Fit : Hands-On Experience!
The HUAWEI Watch Fit seems designed to take on the new Apple Watch SE, offering a more rectangular design, at a fraction of the cost.
Its 1.64-inch AMOLED display is slightly smaller than the Apple Watch SE, with a slightly lower resolution of 280 x 456 pixels. But it has the same pixel density of 326 ppi as the Apple Watch SE.
HUAWEI does not state what protection they offer the display, only that it has a 2.5D curved glass cover. It also features a polymer fibre body, instead of an aluminium chassis.
But like the Watch SE, the Watch Fit is 5 ATM-rated (ISO 22810) for water-resistance. That means you can take it swimming, or a run in the rain.
Instead of a digital crown, it uses a single button on the right side. But it is mainly controlled by tapping and swiping on its touch display.
In addition to recording your daily steps, active hours and the intensity of your activities, the HUAWEI Watch Fit offers 24/7 real-time monitoring of your heart rate and stress levels.
It also offers the capability to measure your SpO2 blood oxygen saturation levels, as well as recording and tracking your sleep state for sleep quality analysis.
The HUAWEI Watch Fit is powered by the DK3.5+ST chipset, with a 180 mAh battery that delivers up to 10 days of battery life. That is significantly longer than the Apple Watch SE.
It offers Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, with built-in GPS. However, it does not support LTE or Wi-Fi connectivity or wireless charging, relying on a magnetic charging thimble design instead.
Now, you cannot answer calls on the Watch Fit, but it will provide you with notifications about incoming calls, messages, and calendar events.
It can also offers the ability to control your phone’s music player and trigger its camera shutter, or locate your phone.
HUAWEI Watch Fit : Our Verdict
The HUAWEI Watch Fit is no Apple Watch SE, that’s for sure. Even on paper, it is superior in many ways. But the question is – do you really need all those extra features?
The Watch Fit is really for those with the “good enough” philosophy. It does away with nice-to-have, but not necessary features, like Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity, call and walkie-talkie capabilities, or NFC for mobile payments.
Instead, it just offers core features like fitness and health monitoring, 5 ATM water-resistance and a long battery life.
Now, we only got 5.5 days of battery life (continuous use) with Bluetooth connected, but that’s 7X longer than the Apple Watch SE’s paltry 18 hours.
That means sleep analysis and around-the-clock health monitoring is really possible with the Watch Fit. Not just something to check off the feature list.
One problem we encountered – try as we might, we can’t replace its default watch face with some pretty nice watch faces HUAWEI offers for free. Hope they fix that soon!
But overall, the value is pretty unbeatable – it costs less than half of the Apple Watch SE.
If you are not an Apple fan boy, and you don’t need those extra features the Watch SE offers, it’s worth considering the Watch Fit.

Snapdragon vs Exynos vs Kirin : 3DMark Sling Shot Extreme
We tested them using the Sling Shot Extreme test in 3DMark, using both Vulkan and OpenGL ES 3.1 graphics API.
Vulkan is a newer graphics API, with much lower overhead, and can therefore deliver better performance than OpenGL ES which is supported by more games.
3DMark rendered the game at the 2560 x 1440 resolution, allowing for a fair comparison irrespective of the devices’ actual display resolution.

Fact #1 : Meng Wanzhou Is Still Under House Arrest In Canada
As of 10 September 2020, Meng Wanzhou is still under house arrest in Canada, awaiting the reopening of her extradition case in late September 2020.
Just four days ago, Global Times – a Chinese state-run media outlet – reiterated the demand by Chinese ambassador to Canada that they release Meng Wanzhou to repair relations between their two countries.
Fact #2 : That Was A Staged Photo Op From May 2020
The photo being shared on social media is genuine, but it was from her staged photo op on 23 May 2020. As reported by CBC :
With a momentous court ruling that could deliver her freedom days away, Meng Wanzhou appeared to take a premature victory lap on the weekend, posing for pictures and flashing a thumbs-up on the steps of B.C. Supreme Court.
The Huawei executive took part in a staged downtown Vancouver photo shoot as security guards stood watch Saturday evening. She jumped out of a black SUV to take centre stage once a group of family and friends had arranged themselves in front of a photographer.
Photo Credit : Ben Nelms CBC
She took part in that staged photo op just before B.C. Supreme Court Associate Chief Justice Heather Holmes planned to announce her decision on double criminality, which could have ended the extradition process.
Days later, on 27 May 2020, Associate Chief Justice Heather Holmes ruled that the extradition case against Meng Wanzhou should proceed.
Fact #3 : They Were Not Removing Her Ankle Monitor
The photo that people were sharing as evidence that her ankle monitor was being removed was taken by Ben Nelms of CBC.
This was his description of the photo – Friends assist Meng with her GPS ankle monitoring bracelet as she prepares for photographs in front of the B.C. Supreme Court building.
NO, her ankle monitor was not being removed. Her friends was just helping her cover it up for the photo op.
She continues to wear a GPS ankle monitor, as part of the requirement for her house arrest while awaiting trial.

Fact #4 : She Is NOT Free To Return To China
The viral post claims that Meng Wanzhou is free to return to China in just 4 days at the latest. Sadly for her, that’s not true.
She remains under house arrest, and is unlikely to return to China soon as her extradition case will only take place in late September 2020.
Why Would Someone Create This Fake Story?
With China’s aggressive foreign stance in recent years, it is not uncommon to see such fake stories being created and shared.
Some believe it’s part of a concerted attempt to burnish China’s image overseas.
Others believe the many fake stories are being created to drown out the negative coverage of China’s controversial Belt and Road Initiative, and their aggressive moves in the South China Sea.
Whatever the reasons may be, it is our duty as global citizens to stop the proliferation of such fake stories.
Please share this debunking with your friends, so they know the truth!

In a bit of good news after months of bad news, HUAWEI announced that their 5G wireless and core network equipment passed the GSMA NESAS cybersecurity audit!
While that is great news for them, what exactly is the impact on the deployment of HUAWEI 5G equipment globally?
In a bit of good news after months of bad news, HUAWEI announced that their 5G wireless and core network equipment passed the GSMA Network Equipment Security Assurance Scheme (NESAS) audit!
5G RAN gNodeB
5G Core UDG, UDM, UNC, UPCF
LTE eNodeB
Here is a summary of the twenty NESAS assessment categories and the compliance levels of the HUAWEI 5G equipment that were tested :
Prior to passing the GSMA NESAS audit, these HUAWEI 5G equipment also passed the 5G cybersecurity test by China’s IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group, using test specifications based on 3GPP International standards for 5G security assurance.
HUAWEI 5G Faces Political, Not Technical, Pressures
Passing the GSMA NESAS audit will help assuage the cybersecurity concerns of nations planning, or already implementing HUAWEI 5G network equipment.
However, HUAWEI faces political, not technical, pressures with their 5G network equipment.
The 100% compliance score in the NESAS audit will not change minds in the US, and their Five Eyes partners are unlikely to consider HUAWEI 5G equipment.
That said, passing this audit will nevertheless strengthen HUAWEI’s shield against claims that their 5G equipment pose much greater cybersecurity risks than competing platforms.
It will help them win additional contracts in smaller countries whose concerns are far less about cybersecurity and privacy, and more with costs.
GSMA Network Security Assurance Scheme (NESAS)
The GSMA Network Equipment Security Assurance Scheme (NESAS) audit is a standardised cybersecurity assessment mechanism, jointly defined by GSMA (GSM Association) and 3GPP, together with regulators, industry partners, major global operators, and vendors.
This is a voluntary program which network equipment vendors can subject their product development and lifecycle processes to a comprehensive and independent security audit.
The GSMA NESAS covers 20 assessment categories, defining security requirements with an assessment framework for 5G product development and product lifecycle processes. It also uses security test cases by 3GPP to assess the security of network equipment.

We had some time with the HUAWEI MatePad Pro – a premium 10.8-inch tablet built around the Kirin 990 flagship platform.
Find out why we love its complete tablet experience so much, we gave it our Reviewer’s Choice Award!
HUAWEI MatePad Pro : 10.8-inch Flagship Tablet
The HUAWEI MatePad Pro (US | UK | MY | SG | AU) is a flagship tablet with a 10.8-inch display. It uses an LCD panel, with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 and a wide DCI-P3 colour gamut.
Built around the HUAWEI Kirin 990 flagship mobile platform, it features fast CPU and GPU cores and two neural processing cores.
HUAWEI is offering it in 5G, 4G and Wi-Fi variants, with 6 GB or 8 GB memory options, and storage options of 128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB.
Our review sample is the Wi-Fi only model (MRX-W09), with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. Here is our hands-on experience!
Holding the MatePad Pro vertically, on the left side, you will find its SIM / NM card tray.
In 5G / 4G models, the tray accepts either two nano SIM cards, or one nano SIM card and an NM card.
In Wi-Fi only models like this one – the tray only accepts a single NM card.
The Volume control buttons are located at the top of the right side, near the front and rear cameras.
Next to it is another one of the five microphones that are used to help you record better audio with noise cancellation.
The Power button is located at the top, near the Volume control buttons on the right side. You will also see two rows of speaker ports at the top.
The HUAWEI MatePad Pro actually has a Harman Kardon-tuned quad-speaker system. The other two speakers are located at the bottom, flanking its USB Type C port.
HUAWEI MatePad Pro : A Complete Package
The HUAWEI MatePad Pro (US | UK | MY | SG | AU) can be purchased as a tablet alone. But HUAWEI offers a bundle (Midnight Grey | Pearl White) which includes the Smart Magnetic Keyboard and M-pencil.
The Smart Magnetic Keyboard doubles as a case, and offers two stand angles, and a keyboard with 1.3 mm keystroke travel.
The HUAWEI M-pencil is a full-sized stylus with a built-in battery, that lets you writer and draw directly on the MatePad Pro with 4,096 pressure levels.
Both accessories lock magnetically to, and is powered by the MatePad Pro. The M-pencil can also be recharged by any device that supports the Qi wireless charging standard.
This nice bundle (Midnight Grey | Pearl White) gives you a complete tablet experience, right out of the box.

HUAWEI MatePad Pro : Key Features
Flagship Kirin 990 Mobile Platform
The HUAWEI MatePad Pro (US | UK | MY | SG | AU) uses the latest Kirin 990 mobile SoC, which also powers the P40 Pro smartphones.
The HiSilicon Kirin 990 features a triple-tier architecture, with :
two ARM Cortex-A76 high-performance cores at 2.86 GHz
two ARM Cortex-A76 sustained performance cores at 2.09 GHz (2.36 GHz for Kirin 990 5G)
four ARM Cortex-A55 low-power cores at 1.86 GHz (1.95 GHz for Kirin 990 5G)
It also comes with a powerful 16-core ARM Mali-G76 GPU, and a new Da Vinci neural architecture.
The regular Kirin 990 has with 1 Big Core NPU + 1 Tiny Core NPU, while the Kirin 990 5G has 2 Big Core NPUs + 1 Tiny Core NPU.
RAM + Storage
Our review sample was the MRX-W09 model, with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage.
Out of the 8 GB of RAM, 5.46 GB is available to use – more than enough to easily run multiple apps at the same time.
For perspective, high-end mobile games like PUBG Mobile and Asphalt 9 use less than 1.2 GB of RAM.
And out of the box, you have a whopping 241 GB of free storage space – enough to store some 68,000 photos!
256 GB of storage is definitely more than sufficient for most users. But if you ever run out of storage, you can always add additional storage through an NM card.
The NM card is basically a microSD card in the size of a nano SIM card. However, because it is a proprietary HUAWEI storage technology, NM cards cost more than microSD cards, and are harder to come by.
10.8-inch DCI-P3 Display
The HUAWEI MatePad Pro (US | UK | MY | SG | AU) comes with a large 10.8-inch display, with a high resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels.
Thanks to its punch hole camera and narrow 4.9 mm bezels, it has a very impressive 90% screen-to-body ratio.
The display has a maximum brightness of 540 nits, which allows for pretty good viewing outdoors, just not under direct sunlight.
More importantly, its wide DCI-P3 colour gamut allows it to accurately replicate the digital movie experience.
Front Camera
The HUAWEI MatePad Pro comes with a decent 8 MP front camera, hidden in a punch hole.
Surprisingly, it can record 4K videos at 30 fps, or 1080p videos at 60 fps. And its large f/2.0 aperture allows for better low-light performance.
Rear Camera
At the back, it has a 13 MP camera with a large f/1.8 aperture for even better low-light performance.
Like the front 8 MP camera, it is capable of recording 4K videos at 30 fps, or 1080p videos at either 30 fps or 60 fps.
This camera is supported by a single LED flash, and a microphone for better audio recording.
HUAWEI MatePad Pro : Specifications (5G / 4G / Wi-Fi)
For your convenience, we created this table to make it easier for you to compare the 5G, 4G and Wi-Fi versions of the HUAWEI MatePad Pro :
If you like our work, you can help support our work by visiting our sponsors, participating in the Tech ARP Forums, or even donating to our fund. Any help you can render is greatly appreciated!
HUAWEI MatePad Pro : Battery Life
The HUAWEI MatePad Pro comes with a massive 7,250 mAh battery. To test its battery life, we turned off Automatic Brightness, and set its display brightness to 50%.
Why 50%? That is actually slightly higher than the average indoor brightness level of 40% during the day, and is what we usually use in all our mobile battery life tests.
It is important to fix the brightness level, to make sure the screen brightness does not change as the room brightness changed.
We then ran the PCMark Work 2.0 battery life test until its battery capacity dropped to 20% several times, and this was the best result we obtained :
That’s a phenomenal 14 hours of battery life on a large 10.8-inch display! Very impressive!
Do remember that the display was set to a slightly higher brightness while running the benchmark non-stop for a full 14 hours.
HUAWEI MatePad Pro : Recharging Speed
Our Wi-Fi only model supports 20 watt fast charging, like the 4G models. But do keep in mind that the 5G models support 27 watt fast charging.
Take a look at how fast the HUAWEI MatePad Pro recharges its 7,250 mAh battery using 20 watt fast charging!
Impressive! The HUAWEI MatePad Pro only took 1 hour 38.5 minutes to fully recharge its battery from 20% to 100%.
That gives it a recharging speed of about 58.9 mAh per minute, which is actually faster than some devices that support 25W or 27W fast charging.
This gives it a good battery life : recharging ratio of 8.5:1. A general rule of thumb – for one of hour battery life, you just need to charge it for 7 minutes.
Incidentally, it recharged fastest up to the 90% point, which took just 1 hour 15.5 minutes. The final 10% required an additional 23 minutes.
HUAWEI MatePad Pro Work Performance : PCMark
We tested its performance using PCMark, which simulates work applications like web browsing, playing video, writing text and editing photos.

HUAWEI MatePad Pro : Our Verdict + Award
If you are looking for a powerful tablet that is also affordable, the HUAWEI MatePad Pro (US | UK | MY | SG | AU) will be right at the top of the list.
Built around the powerful Kirin 990 mobile platform, it comes with a large 10.8-inch DCI-P3 display, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
All that is powered by a large 7,250 mAh battery (which lasted 14 hours in our test!), packed in a sleek metal chassis that is less than 8 mm thin, and weighs just 460 grams.
Best of all – HUAWEI is only selling it at the RRP of RM 2,399 / ~US$551 / ~£445 / ~A$909 / ~S$790.
Its closest competitor is the 11-inch Apple iPad Pro, and that costs a whooping RM 3,949 / ~US$923 / ~£739 / ~A$1,342 / ~S$1,285 – a 65% premium over the MatePad Pro!
And it gets even better when you add in the accessories. To make it easier to compare, we created this table :

But while Apple products have fixed prices, you can actually get the full MatePad Pro bundle at lower prices. For example, the official bundle deals for Midnight Grey | Pearl White here in Malaysia.
The HUAWEI MatePad Pro definitely wins hands down, based on value proposition alone. You can actually buy two full MatePad Pro bundles (Midnight Grey | Pearl White) for the price of a single 11-inch iPad Pro bundle, and have enough money leftover for a nice meal for two!
That is why we are very glad to give the HUAWEI MatePad Pro (US | UK | MY | SG | AU) our Reviewer’s Choice Award!
HUAWEI MatePad Pro : No Google Mobile Services?
Now, let’s address elephant in the room – the HUAWEI MatePad Pro (US | UK | MY | SG | AU) runs on EMUI 10.1, with HMS (HUAWEI Mobile Services), instead of GMS (Google Mobile Services).
This means you no longer have access to the Google Play Store, and have to use HUAWEI AppGallery instead.
This is really not a big issue for many users, because HUAWEI has worked hard to add many key apps to their AppGallery. You can see just how many apps are already available on AppGallery in this video :
Even so, there is simply no way for HUAWEI to replicate the tons of Android apps that are already on Google Play Store.
For apps that are not available on the HUAWEI AppGallery, you will have to use HUAWEI Phone Clone, or directly download their APK installation files from APK repositories.
The lack of Google Play Services and the Google Play Store will, undoubtedly, be an issue for many users. Some Android require GMS for certain features :
Telegram : GMS is required for location services. You can use it, you just cannot search for a location, or share your location.
Gmail : You will have to use a different email client, like Outlook. Or just use a web browser to get access to Gmail.
YouTube : The YouTube app requires GMS, so you will have to watch YouTube on a web browser.
Grab : The Grab app requires GMS for mapping functions. You can use it, but you won’t be able to locate your current position, or track your trip.
That’s why we cannot give the MatePad Pro our Editor’s Choice Award, even though it would have qualified.
But if you can live with what’s available on HUAWEI AppGallery, or are comfortable downloading from APK repositories, then the HUAWEI MatePad Pro (US | UK | MY | SG | AU) offers truly great value for your money.

The 2020 HUAWEI MateBook X Pro is a premium ultra-light laptop, targeted at the discerning business user and professional content creators.
While HUAWEI doesn’t come right out to say it, it seems squarely designed to offer a cheaper and better Windows 10 alternative to the 13-inch Apple MacBook Pro.
Let’s take a close look at the new HUAWEI MateBook X Pro, and see how it bests the much-vaunted 13-inch Apple MacBook Pro!
2020 HUAWEI MateBook X Pro : Specifications
First, let’s take a look at the specifications of our review sample, which is the top-of-the-line model :
Specifications
HUAWEI MateBook X Pro (2020)
Display
13.9-inch LTPS touchscreen display
– 3000 x 2000 pixels, 260 ppi
– 450 nits maximum brightness
– 100% sRGB, 1500:1 contrast ratio
– 10-point touch, anti-fingerprint coating
– Corning Gorilla Glass protection
The 2020 HUAWEI MateBook X Pro (MY|SG|UK) came to us in a large brown box, but that’s just the shipping box. Inside is the actual white retail box, which is what you will find in a retail store.
Once you fully unbox it, this is what you will find inside :
HUAWEI MateBook X Pro laptop
HUAWEI MateDock 2 dongle
HUAWEI MateBook X Pro documents
HUAWEI USB-C Charger (65W) + USB-C power cable
2020 HUAWEI MateBook X Pro : Hands-On Experience!
The 2020 HUAWEI MateBook X Pro (MY|SG|UK) is a compact, premium ultra-light laptop, that packs the very best that HUAWEI has to offer.
Display
Despite its larger 13.9-inch display – the 2020 MateBook X Pro is slightly smaller than the 13-inch MacBook Pro, thanks to its narrow bezels which gives it an incredible 91% screen-to-body ratio.
In addition, this is a 10-point touchscreen display, with a higher resolution of 3000 x 2000 pixels, and 100% sRGB colour gamut.
The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, and an anti-fingerprint coating – helping to keep it scratch-free and smudge-free.
Build Quality
Thanks to its CNC-machined metal unibody, it is only 14.6 mm thick and weighs just 1.33 kg – making it thinner and lighter than the 13-inch MacBook Pro.
HUAWEI also gave it a sandblasted finish for that premium look and feel. We are also glad to note that the finish is smear-resistant.
Keyboard + Touchpad
The 2020 HUAWEI MateBook X Pro (MY|SG|UK) comes with a full-size keyboard with back-lit chiclet keys that are 16 mm in size.
Its multi-touch touchpad is large for a Windows 10 laptop, measuring 12 cm x 7.7 cm (4.7″ x 3″) – almost as large as the Force Touch trackpad on the 13-inch MacBook Pro.
Naturally, it doesn’t have a Touch Bar and that’s just fine because it gets hot at the strip above the keyboard. Precisely where the Touch Bar is on the 13-inch MacBook Pro, and precisely why that’s such a stupid idea.
If you like our work, you can help support our work by visiting our sponsors, participating in the Tech ARP Forums, or even donating to our fund. Any help you can render is greatly appreciated!
2020 HUAWEI MateBook X Pro : A Closer Look!
Available Ports
Like all ultra-thin laptops, the 2020 HUAWEI MateBook X Pro (MY|SG|UK) lacks ports. On the left side, you will find a 3.5 mm audio jack, and two USB Type C ports.
The USB Type C port with the charging icon is a USB 3.1 port with a maximum power output of 10 watts. The other USB Type C port has a higher power output of 15 watts.
They both support 40 Mbps transfer rates, and DisplayPort output, and double as the MateBook X Pro’s charging port.
On the right side, you will find a single USB 3.0 Type A port. It would have been nice if HUAWEI added a third USB Type C port here, but we cannot underscore how important it is to have this Type A port.
Many of us still have many USB Type A devices – thumb drives, portable drives, mouse, etc. so having even a single USB Type A port would let you use them without resorting to a dongle.
Dongle
That brings us to the next point – . The lack of ports on ultra-light laptops virtually require you to purchase a USB Type C dongle.
Fortunately, HUAWEI includes their MateDock 2 dongle with the 2020 MateBook X Pro (MY|SG|UK), which offers these ports :
USB Type A : supports USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 drives
USB Type C : supports USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 drives
HDMI 2.0 : supports video resolution up to 3840 x 2160 (30 Hz) or 2160 x 1440 (60 Hz)
VGA : supports WUXGA resolution up to 1920 x 1200 (60 Hz)
HUAWEI was able to squeeze in the large 13.9-inch display into a form factor smaller than the 13-inch MacBook Pro because they used extremely thin bezels.
Unfortunately, this meant displacing the camera, which is usually hidden in the top bezel of the display.
They opted to hide the 720p camera and an LED light under a special camera key on the keyboard. It pops-up when you press on it, and pressing it again hides it.
This is a great security measure because the camera is physically blocked until you actually need to use it – no hacker will be able to surreptitiously use it to take your photos or videos!
There is only one problem with such a design – it takes photos and videos at an unflattering upward angle. You will also always appear to look upwards on video conferences, and videos that you record.
Fingerprint Sensor
It may not seem obvious, but the 2020 MateBook X Pro (MY|SG|UK) comes with a Goodix fingerprint sensor built into the Power button, located on the upper right edge of the keyboard.
This is a useful feature for those on-the-go, because it lets you login without keying your password in public.
Quad Speakers + Microphones
The 2020 HUAWEI MateBook X Pro (MY|SG|UK) comes with four speakers offering both tweeters for clear treble, and woofers for deep, resonant bass.
It also comes with quad microphones, which not only offer 360° sound reception up to 4 meters away, but also noise cancelling capabilities.
HUAWEI Share Multi-Screen Collaboration
The 2020 HUAWEI MateBook X Pro (MY|SG|UK) supports HUAWEI Share for multi-screen collaboration.
It basically lets you connect your smartphone, and use it directly on the MateBook X Pro!
You can control the apps and files on your phone directly on the laptop, even drag and drop files!
The only downside? It is limited to HUAWEI and HONOR smartphones with NFC.
HUAWEI MeeTime
The 2020 HUAWEI MateBook X Pro (MY|SG|UK) also supports HUAWEI MeeTime, which is their version of Apple FaceTime – a free, proprietary video call service.
It offers some advantages over its competitors – FaceTime, WhatsApp, etc. but can only be used by HUAWEI devices.

2020 HUAWEI MateBook X Pro : Performance
Our 2020 HUAWEI MateBook X Pro (MY|SG|UK) came powered by the 10th Gen Intel Core i7-10510U processor, which is a 4-core, 8-thread processor with a 1.8 GHz clock speed that ramps up to 4.9 GHz during intensive tasks.
The processor has Intel UHD Graphics built-in, but can switch to the NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics (with 2 GB of GDDR5 memory) for more strenuous graphics demands.
Our unit came with 16 GB of LPDDR3 memory, and a 1 TB Samsung PCIe SSD. Keeping all that powered is a large 56 Whr lithium-ion polymer battery.
Work Performance : PCMark 10
The Intel Core i7-10510U processor was powerful, delivering high scores in PCMark 10.
It is, frankly, overkill for basic work applications, but will be very helpful in tackling compute-intensive tasks, like rendering videos.
Gaming Performance : 3DMark Time Spy
The NVIDIA GeForce MX250 is entry-level mobile graphics, and it shows – it’s slightly slower than a desktop GeForce GT 130.
That means it will be good enough for esports gaming, at the lower 1080p resolution with lower quality settings.
Battery Life : YouTube + Modern Office
HUAWEI claimed 13 hours of video playback, albeit with the display set to 150 nits (⅓ of max brightness).
YouTube Screen-On Time
We locked the brightness at 50% and streamed YouTube videos in theatre mode using WiFi.
The 2020 MateBook X Pro (MY|SG|UK) lasted 9 hours 11 minutes before its battery dropped to 10%.
PCMark 10 : Modern Office
With the brightness locked at 50%, we then ran PCMark 10’s Modern Office benchmark until it powered off.
The 2020 MateBook X Pro (MY|SG|UK) lasted 7 hours 40 minutes before its battery dropped to 3%.
Battery : Recharging Speed
Its recharging time was even better, especially up to the 90% point. Here are the times it takes to recharge from 10% :
25% : 12 minutes
30% : 16 minutes
50% : 31 minutes
60% : 39 minutes
75% : 52 minutes
90% : 72 minutes
95% : 84 minutes
100% : 121 minutes
Its 65W fast charger takes about 35 minutes to hit mid-point, but 2 hours 1 minute to fully recharge its battery.
That gives it a battery life : recharging time ratio of 4.6:1 for video streaming, and 3.8:1 for office work.
As a rule of thumb, you will need to recharge its battery about 16 minutes for every hour of battery life.
2020 HUAWEI MateBook X Pro : Verdict + Award
Despite its innocuous looks, the 2020 HUAWEI MateBook X Pro (MY|SG|UK) is truly an ultra-light beast.
It is smaller and lighter than the 13-inch MacBook Pro, and yet boasts a touchscreen display that is larger and offers a higher 3K resolution!
On top of that, it comes with a powerful quad-core 10th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, with NVIDIA GeForce MX250 mobile graphics, 16 GB LPDDR3 memory and a spacious 1TB PCIe SSD.
Its large 56 Whr battery lasts a phenomenal 9 hours 11 minutes in our test, and recharges in just 2 hours. That means you can really be on-the-go all-day with this ultra-light laptop.
That said, 2020 MateBook X Pro (MY|SG|UK) is not a gaming machine. The GeForce MX250 will handle games like Civilizations VI and Dota 2 just fine, but don’t expect it to take on Red Dead Redemption 2!
And if you are expecting more ports, then it’s not for you. You have to learn to live with two USB Type C port – one of which you will need to use to recharge the laptop!
But the good news is unlike most ultra-light laptops, the MateBook X Pro comes with one USB Type A port, and a MateDock 2 dongle. That gives you great flexibility, right out of the box.
Now, the biggest impediment for many people would be its price. Like other premium ultra-light laptops, the 2020 HUAWEI MateBook X Pro (MY|SG|UK) costs a pretty penny.
There are really no two ways about it. It is expensive to make super-thin, ultra-light laptop computers that are this powerful. Especially one with a large, 3K touchscreen.
The truth is – the 2020 MateBook X Pro offers great performance and features in a really light and compact form factor, and it is at least 20% cheaper than a comparable 13-inch MacBook Pro!
For those reasons, we believe the 2020 HUAWEI MateBook X Pro (MY|SG|UK) deserves our Reviewer’s Choice Award. Congratulations, HUAWEI!

HUAWEI just upped the ante by introducing the 5G variant of their MatePad Pro premium tablet, with a few tweaks under the hood!
Here is everything you need to know about the new HUAWEI MatePad Pro 5G tablet!
HUAWEI MatePad Pro 5G : Everything You Need To Know!
If you read our review of the HUAWEI MatePad Pro, you will know that we were so impressed with its performance and value proposition, we gave it our Reviewer’s Choice Award.
HUAWEI has just upped the ante by introducing a 5G variant, called, obviously enough – the MatePad Pro 5G.
Kirin 990 5G Mobile Platform
The main difference is its processor – it uses the HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G mobile SoC, which has a built-in Balong 5G modem.
This is a multi-mode modem that lets the MatePad Pro connect to 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks.
In addition, the Kirin 990 5G is faster than the non-5G variant, with an additional NPU :
two ARM Cortex-A76 high-performance cores at 2.86 GHz
two ARM Cortex-A76 sustained performance cores at 2.36 GHz (2.09 GHz for Kirin 990)
four ARM Cortex-A55 low-power cores at 1.95 GHz (1.86 GHz for Kirin 990)
two Big Core NPUs + one Tiny Core NPU (1 Big + 1 Tiny for Kirin 990)
3D Graphene Cooling System
To keep the Kirin 990 5G cool, the HUAWEI MatePad Pro 5G features the industry’s first ultra-thick 3D graphene cooling system.
This cooling system is enhanced by AI thermal management, to help keep the tablet cool during scenarios that generate large amounts of heat – downloading on 5G, wireless / reverse wireless charging.
Faster Charging + Wireless Reverse Charging
The HUAWEI MatePad Pro 5G supports 40 watt fast charging – twice as fast as 20 watts fast charging supported regular MatePad Pro tablets.
It also supports 27 watt wireless charging – almost twice as fast as 15 watts wireless charging supported by regular MatePad Pro tablets.

Of course, you can already make free voice and video calls on other apps, like WhatsApp and Telegram. So let’s find out what features HUAWEI MeeTime offers over their competitors :
Feature #1 : Full HD Quality
HUAWEI MeeTime supports video calling at resolutions of up to 1080p (Full HD) – 1920 x 1080 pixels.
And thanks to built-in optimisations (see below), it can maintain that video resolution even with weak cellular or Wi-Fi reception.
Feature #2 : Screen Sharing
HUAWEI MeeTime has a two-way Screen Sharing function that lets users share their screens while chatting, which can be extremely useful.
For instance, you can use it to share what flights you just found with your partner, without sending it as a separate message, or interrupting the chat.
Feature #3 : Third Party Support
While HUAWEI MeeTime is a proprietary technology limited to HUAWEI devices, they are encouraging third party vendors to integrate their devices. For example :
Kandao Meeting 360° : You can connect your HUAWEI device to this Kandao teleconferencing camera to take advantage of its pro-grade features.
Drift Ghost Action Cameras : You can connect your HUAWEI smartphone to a Drift Ghost camera strapped to your vehicle to livestream your adventures.
Feature #4 : Network Adaptation
In poor network conditions, HUAWEI MeeTime dynamically adapts to changes in bandwidth, and uses super resolution technology to compensate for the loss of video quality, in real time.
In addition, it uses the Link Turbo technology to dynamically switch between Wi-Fi and LTE to deliver the best possible speeds, without interruption.
Feature #5 : Low Light Adaptation
HUAWEI MeeTime adapts dynamically to low light conditions, using facial recognition technology and other optimisations.
Feature #6 : End-to-End Encryption
In addition to working only on HUAWEI devices, HUAWEI MeeTime requires you to sign-in with a HUAWEI ID.
To assuage concerns of privacy, all calls are encrypted end-to-end by default. This guarantees that no one else can listen into your conversations.

Now that the final BeiDou satellite will soon be launched, people are claiming that it will give HUAWEI phones free calls and Internet!
Find out what the facts are, and why people believe BeiDou will really give HUAWEI phones free calls and Internet!
BeiDou : What Is It?
BeiDou is China’s own satellite positioning and navigational system, functionally similar to GPS, GLONASS and Galileo.
So far, the Chinese have launched 59 satellites, from three generations, with the last BeiDou-3 satellite scheduled to launch in a few days.
Will BeiDou Give HUAWEI Phones FREE Calls + Internet?
People are sharing this message, claiming that BeiDou will give every HUAWEI phone unlimited calls and Internet without a SIM card!
If u r able to change/ upgrade ur hp then u may want to consider Huawei devices.
Please buy Huawei hp because after the End of June 2020. All Huawei hp will be equipped with Huawei Own Satellite BEIDOU Chipset which will allow you to make Phone Calls and Internet DATA usages without any Charges for Life and No Sim Card is required. Save a lot of money in the long run??
Baidu is do much more powerful than old uncle Google. Baidu is the major driver for 5G, free satellite calls, wider coverage, higher speed, etc. Anyway no one can stop u fr using uncle Google if u so loved him using any type of hp (iOS, Android, Symbian of others)!! U can also VPN to tunnel into many networks & firewalls….!!
BeiDou + HUAWEI Phones : The Facts!
The message is yet another fake story about HUAWEI. Here is a video explanation, with details below :
Fact #1 : Smartphones Have Supported BeiDou For Years
HUAWEI, like many other brands, have long introduced multi-constellation support for navigational signals.
Their smartphones not only support GPS, but also BeiDou, GLONASS, and Galileo, switching to whichever satellite system offers the best performance or accuracy.
The first smartphones to support BeiDou were introduced in 2013. It’s not like BeiDou is only being introduced after June 2020.
Fact #2 : BeiDou Is Supported By Foreign Mobile Platforms
BeiDou civilian signals can be used by foreign mobile platforms, and are in fact supported by Samsung Exynos and MediaTek mobile platforms.
So many non-HUAWEI smartphones use chipsets that support BeiDou.
Fact #3 : BeiDou Cannot Provide Calls / Internet
BeiDou is primarily a global positioning satellite system, with limited communications capability – just short messaging services (SMS).
However, only the military (or related security services like civil defence) are given access to the BeiDou SMS service, using special satellite phones.
Civilian devices, like HUAWEI smartphones, can only use its positioning services, and have NO ACCESS to any communications capability.
A CGTN news report is probably responsible for this misunderstanding (watch our video above).
Fact #4 : Calls + Internet Still Require A SIM Card / eSIM
While the latest HUAWEI P40 series smartphones support eSIM, other HUAWEI smartphones still require a physical SIM card.
But whether your smartphone uses a physical SIM card or eSIM, it needs some sort of SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) number to obtain call and Internet services from your mobile service provider.
Fact #5 : HUAWEI Offers A Free Video Call Service
HUAWEI recently introduced a new video call feature called MeeTime, which allows all HUAWEI devices to make video calls for free.

The HUAWEI nova 7 SE 5G is designed to be an affordable 5G variant of the nova 7i that was launched earlier.
It is powered by the Kirin 820 5G platform, and runs on EMUI 10 with HMS. Our review unit comes with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB of internal storage.
On top of using a faster 5G-capable platform, the SE version comes with an upgraded 64 MP main camera, together with an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, a 2 MP macro camera, and a 2 MP depth sensor.
On the left side, you will find the SIM + NM card tray. This is a hybrid SIM tray, which supports two nano SIM cards, or one nano SIM card and one NM card.
The NM card is HUAWEI’s proprietary storage card – basically, a nano SIM-sized microSD card.
The Volume control buttons are on the right side, together with the Power button that doubles as a fingerprint sensor.
The side placement of the fingerprint sensor allows you to unlock the smartphone even when it’s mounted to your car’s dashboard.
There’s nothing at the top, except for a second microphone port, which is used for noise cancellation.
The HUAWEI nova 7 SE comes with a 3.5 mm audio jack, located at the bottom, together with the USB Type C port.
The HUAWEI nova 7 SE is powered by a relatively-large 4,000 mAh battery, which can be quickly recharged by its 40 watt fast charger.

HUAWEI nova 7 Series : How To Install The Apps You Want!
All HUAWEI nova 7 series smartphones run on EMUI 10 with HUAWEI Mobile Services replacing Google Mobile Services.
Many potential buyers are concerned about what apps they can install on HUAWEI Mobile Services. So here are the two ways you can install the apps you want.
Using HUAWEI Phone Clone
HUAWEI Phone Clone offers an easy way to migrate all of your favourite Android apps from your old smartphone to any HUAWEI nova 7 series smartphone.
HUAWEI Phone Clone comes pre-installed on the HUAWEI nova 7 series smartphone, and you are given the option to use it during the installation process.
Just let it link, and sync both devices, to transfer all of the data and apps from your old smartphone to your HUAWEI nova 7 series smartphone. It’s that easy!
HUAWEI AppGallery is the replacement for Google Play Store, and serves as a way for HUAWEI to deliver apps through HUAWEI Mobile Services (which replaces Google Mobile Services).
When it first started out, it was quite bare, but HUAWEI spent an incredible amount of time, money and resources to entice developers to add their apps.
Here is a quick look at the number of apps you can now download through HUAWEI AppGallery.
