HUAWEI launched three P40 series smartphones, all running on EMUI 10 using the Kirin 990 platform :

  • HUAWEI P40 Pro : 6.58-inch OLED display, Leica quad-camera system, 4,200 mAh battery
  • HUAWEI P40 Pro+ : 6.58-inch OLED display, Leica penta-camera system, 4,200 mAh battery

 

HUAWEI AppGallery

HUAWEI AppGallery is the replacement for Google Play Store, and serves as a way for HUAWEI to deliver apps through HUAWEI Mobile Services (which replaces Google Mobile Services).

When it first started out, it was quite bare, but HUAWEI spent an incredible amount of time, money and resources to entice developers to add their apps.

Here is a quick look at the number of apps you can now download through HUAWEI AppGallery on the P40, P40 Pro or P40 Pro+ smartphones :

As you can see in the video above, there are now thousands of apps in the HUAWEI AppGallery for the HUAWEI P40 series.

What About Apps Not Available In HUAWEI AppGallery?

As you can tell, HUAWEI AppGallery still lacks many important apps, but does that mean you should forego the HUAWEI P40 series smartphones?

Now, your HUAWEI P40 series smartphone may lack Google Play Store, but it still runs on Google Android. So, all those apps you want can actually be “side-loaded” into your HUAWEI P40 series smartphone.

Safest Way : Directly From Official Website

The safest way is to visit the official website for the apps you want on your HUAWEI P40 series smartphones, and look for the Download APK link.

Tap on it to download the app APK file, and then install it (you will be asked to allow installation from Unknown Sources), and you are ready to go!

Alternative : APK Mirror Website

If the official website of the app does not offer a Download APK option, then you have to resort to an APK mirror website.

Basically, these are websites that offers downloads of installation (APK) files from Google Play Store. Just search for the apps you want, download them on your HUAWEI P40 series smartphone, and install!

However, note that there is a risk that they may be tampered with, or injected with malware. So it is best to stick with reliable, trustworthy APK mirror websites like APKMirror, F-Droid or APKPure.com.
