The 360° Honor VR Camera Preview & Demo

On 21 February 2017, Huawei revealed their partnership with Insta360 in developing a 360° virtual reality smartphone camera. Branded as the Honor VR Camera, it offers the ability to take 3K photos and videos in 360°. Users can even livestream and share their 360° creations using the custom app.

This VR Camera is supposed to be available only in China, with no international release. However, we were amongst the lucky few to catch a demo of this camera yesterday. We even got some hands-on time with it!

The Honor VR Camera Demo

Honor has not officially announced that the Honor VR Camera will be available outside of China, but we were able to catch this short live demo recently. Check it out!

The Honor VR Camera Hands-On Preview

As this was an exclusive sneak-peek, we had only a few minutes with the Honor VR Camera. Hope you enjoy this short hands-on preview of the Honor VR Camera!

The Honor VR Camera comes in a rubber shell, which is designed to protect its two cameras from being scratched. The Type C USB port is visible at the bottom. You pull it out with two fingers, just like you would… an eyeball? 😀

Honor did not reveal much details about the Honor VR Camera, just that it is capable of 3K photography and livestreaming through the companion app. But if it’s a rebranded Insta360 Air (Amazon (USB Type C) | Amazon (micro USB) | Lazada), then the two cameras will have a 4.5 MP sensor with f/2.4 lens, and is capable of capturing photos with a resolution of 3008 x 1504, and videos with a resolution of 2560 x 1280 at 30 fps.

Honor VR Camera Price & Availability

[adrotate group=”2″]

Honor had earlier said that this VR Camera would only be available in China, and there were no plans for an international release. However, they seemed to have changed their minds.

From what we understand, they now expect to make it available internationally sometime between May and June of 2017. It will be paired with an Honor-customised companion app.

Needless to say, they do not have a price range for the Honor VR Camera right now. They can only say that “it won’t be cheap

Considering the Insta360 Air (Amazon (USB Type C) | Amazon (micro USB) | Lazada) is selling for RM 699 / ~US$ 155, we reckon it will cost about the same. Hopefully cheaper!

The Honor 6X Media Preview – Double Or Nothing

Yesterday, Honor Malaysia invited us to an exclusive Honor 6X media preview, which also doubled as its official launch. Check out what’s new and great about the new Honor 6X (Amazon | Lazada) and what improvements Honor has made since last year’s Honor 5X phablet.

The Key Features Of The Honor 6X

Who better to tell us all about the key features of the new Honor 6X (Amazon | Lazada) phablet than Allen An, the E-Commerce Director of Honor Malaysia? Check out his presentation!

Dual Lens Magic, Double The Firepower

The Honor 6X (Amazon | Lazada) features an innovative dual-lens camera system that reflects Honor’s journey for photographic innovation. The main 12MP camera is responsible for the composition of the image while the 2MP camera provides depth of field information.

Additionally, the combination of the camera’s wide aperture (F/0.95) and dual camera produces professional background blurred effect to highlight your subjects, giving the same effects as SLR cameras. Coupled with the camera’s 1.25 um pixel size, Phase Detection Auto Focus technology, and the Sony IMX386 sensor, the Honor 6X (Amazon | Lazada) enables users to capture sharper, crisper, and more detailed photos.

Impressive Stamina

One of the must-have features in smartphones by digital natives today is the promise of a long battery life. The Honor 6X (Amazon | Lazada) packs an exceptional battery capacity of 3340 mAh that provides 2.15 days of usage and 1.54 days of heavy usage on just a single full charge*.

To keep up with digital natives’ adventurous lifestyles, the Honor 6X (Amazon | Lazada) enables them to enjoy up to 11.5 hours of video, 70 hours of music, or 8 hours of gaming. The device is also supported by an optimized propriety 5V/2A fast charging technology that can be charged in no time. These capabilities will empower users to truly carry out their everyday tasks and enjoyment without compromise.

* Battery life may vary based on usage patterns and network conditions.

For Your Viewing Pleasure

Phablets are here to stay. The Honor 6X (Amazon | Lazada) comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) sunlight display that optimizes users’ viewing experience. Since Honor is well aware of consumers’ needs and concerns, the Honor 6X (Amazon | Lazada) has an “Eye Comfort” embedded into the display that filters out blue light to help relieve screen-related discomfort. This will protect users’ eyes and makes for a more comfortable viewing, especially since digital natives rely on their devices more than anything.

Rock-solid Performance

[adrotate banner=”4″]

The Honor 6X (Amazon | Lazada) is not called a technological beast for nothing. The device’s Kirin 655 Octa-Core CPU and 16-nanometer manufacturing process brings in a 65% higher performance than previous generations while lowering battery consumption.

The Honor 6X (Amazon | Lazada) is also a powerful device due to its 3 GB / 4 GB RAM that aids in the increase of the phone’s performance and a 32 GB / 64 GB of storage with an option to expand storage. As a result, users can now seamlessly run multiple apps at the same time while offering ample storage for music, videos, and photos.

Additional Perks

The Honor 6X (Amazon | Lazada) also comes with a Wi-Fi repeater capability that solves the problem of network sharing. Users can now share their Wi-Fi without having to reveal their password. Furthermore, this capability increases users’ Wi-Fi signal coverage, thus enhancing users’ experience with their devices. With the understanding that a smartphone is a reflection of one’s self, the Honor 6X is also a sight to behold.

The curvy beast sports a Bezier curve to provide an ergonomic handheld design, along with a sleek contemporary design with 2.5D curved glass and metal material that is easy on the eyes and a pleasure to hold with its slim 8.2mm body.

The Honor 6X Availability & Prices

The Honor 6X (Amazon | Lazada) phablet will be offered in three colours – Grey, Silver and Gold, with the following prices :

  • Honor 6X (3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage) : RM 1,199 / ~US$ 269

Unboxing The honor 8 Smartphone

The honor 8 comes in a white two-piece cardboard box with a textured surface. The tall and thin design presumably allows more units to be placed side-by-side on a counter. The inner box slides downwards and is secured by a single clear security sticker. Be careful once that sticker is cut, because the inner box will slide right out!

Inside the honor 8 box, you will find the following items :

  • One honor 8 smartphone
  • One set of honor 8 Quick Start Guide & Huawei warranty leaflet
  • One SIM card tray extractor pin
  • One set of six IMEI stickers
  • One 18 W Huawei quick travel charger

The honor 8 Smartphone Up Close

The honor 8 has a large 5.2″ LTPS display that covers almost its entire front – with a 72% screen-to-body ratio. To achieve that, honor eschewed the use of physical buttons, in favour of virtual on-screen buttons. In fact, it only has two physical buttons – a Power button and a Volume rocker switch on the right side.

The honor 8 has an infra-red transmitter at the top, which can be used as a remote control in conjunction with the built-in Smart Controller app. It is also the first honor smartphone to feature the new Type C USB interface. It is still a USB 2.0 port, but the Type C interface is bidirectional – you no longer have to worry about plugging the cable in the wrong way.

Even though the honor 8 is the same size as the honor 5C, they managed to squeeze in a 2,900 mAh lithium-polymer battery while reducing its thickness to just 7.45 mm. They even fit in the 3.5mm audio port, albeit at the bottom, together with the USB port.

Hybrid SIM

The honor 8 has dual SIM, dual standby capability. However, only the FRD-L09 and FRD-L19 models come with the hybrid SIM slot that allows for a second nano SIM card. These two models are only sold in Europe and Asia. The other models only support a single nano SIM.

Of course, the hybrid SIM slot means you have to choose between using a second nano SIM card, or a microSD card. You can’t use both simultaneously.

[adrotate banner=”5″]

Fingerprint Sensor & OTG Support

The honor 8 boasts a new 3D fingerprint sensor that can actually detect the ridges of the finger. This allows for more accurate detection of your fingerprint. With an auto-learning ability, the honor 8’s fingerprint sensor can recognise your fingerprint and unlock the honor 8 in just 0.4 seconds.

On the other hand, the honor 8 (like the honor 5C) does not support USB OTG (On-The-Go) drives. If you plug any USB OTG flash drive into its USB port, it will not be detected. The honor 8 also requires you to use the Huawei HiSuite software to access its files from your computer. This also limits what you can copy out from the honor 8 smartphone.

Cameras

The honor 8 has an 8 MP front camera with an f/2.4 lens. It will deliver a maximum photo resolution of 3264 x 2448 in the 4:3 format. Again, a wider 16:9 format will crop that to 3264 x 1840. It will record videos in 1080p quality with electronic image stabilisation.

Its killer feature is the dual-lens camera at the back. It is actually two individual cameras, each with a Sony IMX286 sensors with f/2.2 lens. One camera captures the image in monochrome, while the other captures the same image in colour. They are then combined to deliver sharper and more detailed pictures. The camera is supported by a dual LED flash, and a laser autofocus system.

The photos have a maximum resolution of 3968 x 2976 in the 4:3 format. If you prefer a wider format, the honor 8 will do that by cropping the image to 3968 x 2240 (16:9). It is capable of recording video in full HD quality (1080p) with electronic image stabilisation.

Aurora Glass

The honor 8 has a 2.5D glass body on both sides with diamond-cut aluminium alloy edges to create an ultra-narrow bezel. Its 3D grate design and 15-layer craftsmanship on the back of the device, combines with the glass/metal back to create what honor calls Aurora Glass.

The Aurora Glass back gives the honor 8 a very reflective surface at the back. The only catch – it naturally lacks the oleophobic coating of the front screen for a proper grip. However, that means its highly-reflective back is easily smudged by fingerprint smears, which detracts from its lustre.

The Initial Setup

This video will show you the initial setup process when you power up the honor 8 for the first time. If you do not need to restore a backup, the whole setup process should take about 5 minutes. Note how fast it takes to register a fingerprint.

[adrotate banner=”5″]

Available Memory & Storage

The honor 8 comes with 4 GB of LPDDR4 memory. The Android 6.0 operating system and honor-preloaded apps take up about 1.3 GB of memory, leaving you with 2.4 GB (60%) of free memory. Very good!

This is a premium honor 8 model (FRD-L19), which comes with 64 GB of internal flash memory. This is expandable via a microSD card (up to 128 GB). Fresh out of the box, the honor 8 has 53.2 GB of available space (excluding the system files), of which 51.38 GB is free to use.

In the standard honor 8 models which come with 32 GB of internal flash memory, we can estimate that they will have about 19 GB of free space.

Camera Performance – Photos

The honor 8‘s dual-lens camera has not one, but two, 12 MP Sony IMX286 sensor with reasonably fast f/2.4 lens. The photos have a maximum resolution of 3968 x 2976 in the 4:3 format. Check out these photo samples.

The honor 8 delivered excellent resolution in these photos. If you blow them up to 100%, you can see the amount of detail that is not possible in other smartphone cameras. The edge resolution (between elements of different colour), in particular, was very impressive. The amount of noise is also very low, even in dark areas.

While the honor 8 does not have the most user-friendly camera app in the industry, the photos produced by its dual-lens camera is very, very impressive. Even without turning on HDR, the colour are very vivid and visually pop out.

[adrotate banner=”5″]

Camera Performance – Video Recording

The honor 8 can record full HD (1080p) ideos with electronic stabilisation. This is an improvement over the honor 5X, whose main camera does not support electronic stabilisation. Here is a sample video we recorded of a piano performance by Mr. Yang I-Deun.

And this is a sample video taken at a street market.

The honor 8 did a great job maintaining focus and controlling exposure in the videos we took. Even bright backgrounds were not overblown. The honor 8 does not support optical image stabilisation, probably because it would prevent the dual-lens system from being in sync, but its electronic image stabilisation still did a decent job.

You should also notice that it records better audio than most smartphones. The piano music sounds richer, even through the background noise. And in the street market footage, the ambient sounds sound clearer and more authentic.

Work Performance – PCMark

We tested the honor 8‘s performance using PCMark, which simulates work applications like web browing, playing video, writing text and editing photos.

honor 8 ASUS ZenFone 3 Ultra HTC 10 Samsung Galaxy S7 edge
Work Performance Score
(Average)
6350 6313 6105 4892

Writing 6231 7166 7463 4629
Photo Editing 7352 8262 9694 5563

The honor 8 is powered by the top-of-the-line Kirin 950 SoC. These PCMark results show that the Kirin 950 proved to be more than a match for the Snapdragon 820 that powers the HTC 10, and the Snapdragon 652 that powers the ASUS ZenFone 3 Ultra. In fact, it was 30% faster in this benchmark than Samsung Galaxy S7 edge‘s Exynos 8890!

Battery Performance – PCMark

We then tested the honor 8‘s battery performance using PCMark. It basically ran the PCMark work tests until its battery capacity dropped to 20%.

The honor 8 lasted just over 10 hours on the PCMark stress test. This is 1.5 hours less than the honor 5C, but is excellent considering it uses a more powerful processor and graphics processor, and comes with twice the memory. The HTC 10, for example, lasted just over 5.5 hours on the same test!

[adrotate banner=”5″]

Battery Recharging Performance

The honor 8 has a large 2,900 mAh lithium-polymer battery, with Fast Charging capability. honor claims that it will recharge from 0% to 47% in just 30 minutes. Let’s see if that’s true…

Our tests showed that the honor 8 will recharge from 17% to 100% in just 146 minutes (3 hours 26 minutes). This is decent, but not exceptional quick charging performance. It fully recharges the battery about 20% faster than the honor 5C, which does not support quick charging and uses only a 5 W charger.

That said, we can see that the honor 8 recharges fastest in the first 90%, before it tapers off to a slower recharging pace for the last 10 percent. Recharging 47% (from 17% to 64%) took 36 minutes in our test.

The honor 8 did well in AnTuTu, coming in only 20% and 31% slower than the HTC 10 and the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge respectively.

It was actually 12% and 47% faster than the HTC 10 in the UX and CPU tests, but its 65% slower 3D performance pulled down its overall results.

Gaming Performance – 3DMark

We tested the honor 8‘s gaming performance using 3DMark, using the Ice Storm Unlimited test.

The honor 8 is roughly equal to the ASUS ZenFone 3 Ultra in gaming performance. This means the ARM Mali-T880 GPU in the Kirin 950 is about as fast as the Qualcomm Adreno 510 GPU.

Our Verdict

The honor 8 is more than just a more powerful version of the honor 5C smartphone. Yes, they are both 5.2″ smartphones powered by Kirin processors from HiSilicon, a Huawei company. But the honor 8 is really a whole different beast targeting a different market.

The honor 8 is very fast, and comes with 4 GB of RAM and up to 64 GB of internal flash storage. On top of that, its dual-lens camera produces excellent photographs and videos. It even comes with a new 3D fingerprint sensor that activates the phone in just 0.4 seconds.

The honor 8 also looks the part of a premium smartphone, thanks to its Aurora Glass finish. This is honor’s top-of-the-line smartphone for those who want nothing but the best without paying through the nose.

Now, all that extra capability comes at a price, and it comes to no surprise that the honor 8 costs twice as much as the honor 5C. Even so, it costs less than half of what their competitors charge for equivalent smartphones.

[adrotate banner=”4″]

So are we impressed with the honor 8? Hell, yeah!

If we have any gripes, it is the lack of USB OTG support and the requirement to use the Huawei HiSuite to manage files using a computer. This unnecessarily makes it a pain to access the files in the honor 8 smartphone.

honor continues to impress us with their ability to focus on creating no-nonsense Android smartphones with practical features. Even the dual-lens camera proved to be a practical way to improve the quality of photos and videos taken using a smartphone.

We like the honor 8 enough to give it out coveted Editor’s Choice Award. Congratulations, honor!

Kirin 650-Powered honor 5C Smartphone Revealed!

honor today proudly revealed the latest addition to their family of mid-range smartphones – the honor 5C. Powered by the new Kirin 650 chip, it runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow and sports a list of flagship features. Best of all, honor is pricing it at less than RM 850 / US$ 225!

Earlier today, Allen An, honor Malaysia’s E-Commerce Director, gave a presentation on the honor 5C. He spoke about the honor 5C’s key features, like the new 16 nm Kirin 650 chip, its photographic capability, impressive battery life and build quality. He also revealed the local pricing and availability.

Let’s run down its key features…

16 nm Kirin 650

The honor 5C is powered by the Kirin 650, which is an octa-core SoC built on the new 16 nm FinFET+ process technology. The more advanced process technology allows it to deliver 65% better CPU performance over a similar-sized processor built using the older 28 nm process technology.

The Kirin 650 has eight ARM Cortex-A53 cores, four of which can run at a peak frequency of 2.0 GHz, with another four with a peak frequency of 1.7 GHz. It also has the ARM Mali-T830 GPU which offers a 100% boost in graphics performance over the previous generation.

Stunning Photography

The honor 5C has a 13 MP rear camera with f/2.0 5-element lens. The lens have anti-reflective, oleophobic and infra-red absorbing coatings to ensure clarity. If you are into selfies, you will not be disappointed with the 8 MP front camera with f/2.0 4-element lens.

Long Battery Life

The honor 5C has a large 3,000 mAh battery but honor promises that it will outperform smartphones with much larger batteries. Thanks to Android 6.0’s Doze Mode and Huawei’s SmartPower 3.0 power saving technology, the honor 5C boasts a 40% decrease in power consumption.

Improved Fingerprint Sensor

The honor 5C also features a 2nd-generation Swedish-designed FPC fingerprint sensor that can now unlock the phone in just 0.5 seconds. It also requires only six fingerprint touches to register a fingerprint. In addition, the honor 5C encrypts and stores the fingerprint data in a Replay Protected Memory Block (RPMB), which prevents your fingerprint data from being accessed even if the phone is rooted.

The honor 5X Smartphone

The honor 5X (Amazon) has a large 5.5″ IPS display that covers almost its entire front – with a 72.5% screen-to-body ratio. To achieve that, honor eschewed the use of physical buttons, in favour of virtual on-screen buttons. The honor 5X comes with a screen protector pre-installed. It is not oleophobic and therefore attracts fingerprint smears but you should not remove it because the honor 5X does not come with scratch-resistant glass (e.g. Gorilla Glass).

The back metal chassis comes protected with a plastic film that doubles as an information sheet, with labels and tips. This plastic film has cut-outs for the fingerprint sensor and camera, so you can use the honor 5X without removing it, especially if you intend to fit a case over it.

The honor 5X (Amazon) uses a second-generation rim-free fingerprint sensor. As you have seen in the Initial Setup video, it registers your fingerprint in fewer steps. It is also much faster and more accurate than the previous generation sensor at reading your fingerprint. Once you have used it, it will become second nature to turn on and instantly log into the honor 5X by simply touching the fingerprint sensor.

Although higher-end smartphones are trying to go ridiculously thin, the honor 5X (Amazon) is reasonably thick at 8.15 mm. The slight increase in thickness not only allowed the inclusion of a large 3,000 mAh lithium-ion polymer battery, as well as an earphone port at the top.

Although not explicitly mentioned, the honor 5X has stereo speakers. The second speaker emits through the left row of ports in the picture above. The right row of ports is for the microphone. The honor 5X still uses a micro USB 2.0 port, instead of the newer reversible USB-C port.

Buttons & Slots

The honor 5X only has two physical buttons, because it uses virtual on-screen Android buttons instead of physical buttons. They are both on the right side – a volume switch and a Power button.

The left side has two slots. The upper slot is for a single micro SIM card. The lower slot fits two cards – a nano SIM card, and a micro SD card. The honor 5X (Amazon) is Dual SIM, Dual Standby capable, and you can use both SIM cards together with a micro SD card.

The Initial Setup

This video will show you the initial setup process when you power up the honor 5X (Amazon) for the first time. If you do not need to restore a backup, the whole setup process should take about 2.5 minutes. Note how fast it takes to register a fingerprint.

Available Memory & Storage

The honor 5X (Amazon) comes with 2 GB of memory of the LPDDR3 type. The Android OS takes up 467 MB, and the honor pre-loaded apps take up another 344 MB. After accounting for the cached processes, there is only 632 MB of free RAM to use. It would be helpful if honor can cut down on the background apps.

The honor 5X also comes with 16 GB of internal flash storage. This is expandable via a microSD card (up to 128 GB. Fresh out of the box, the honor 5X has just under 10.4 GB of available space (excluding the system files), of which 9.73 GB is free to use.

[adrotate banner=”5″]

Cameras

The main camera has a 13 MP sensor with a f/2.0 lens, supported by a single LED flash. The photos have a maximum resolution of 4160 x 3120 in the 4:3 format. If you prefer a wider format, the honor 5X will do that by cropping the image to 4160 x 2336 (16:9). It is capable of recording video in full HD quality (1080p).

The front camera boasts a 5 MP sensor with a f/2.4 wide-angle lens. It will deliver a maximum photo resolution of 2592 x 1944 in the 4:3 format. Again, a wider 16:9 format will crop that to 2592 x 1456. It will record videos in 720p quality.

For a smartphone in this price category, the honor 5X (Amazon) comes with a pretty decent set of cameras. We will examine its photographic and video recording performance later in the next page.

Camera Performance – Photos

The honor 5X’s main camera has a 13 MP sensor with a fast f/2.0 lens, which allows it to take pretty decent photos in relatively low-light conditions. The photos have a maximum resolution of 4160 x 3120 in the 4:3 format.

honor did not reveal what sensor was used in the honor 5X (Amazon) smartphone, but the pictures we took look like they came from the same Samsung ISOCELL S5K3M2 sensor used in Alcatel Flash 2 smartphone.

The Samsung ISOCELL S5K3M2 is a relatively noisy sensor. If you blow up the picture on a desktop, you can see consistent noise (speckling and artifacts). However, they are only of real concern if you are going to make large prints of these photos.

[adrotate banner=”5″]

Camera Performance – Video Recording

The honor 5X (Amazon) can record full HD (1080p) videos. You won’t get any image stabilisation, both optical and electronic, though. Here is a sample video we recorded of a piano performance by Mr. Yang I-Deun.

And this is a sample video taken at an ice skating rink.

The honor 5X (Amazon) did a reasonably good job of controlling the exposure of the subjects in focus, although the bright areas were overexposed. Overall, it was a decent performance for a smartphone at this price point.

Work Performance – PCMark

We tested the honor 5X’s performance using PCMark, which simulates work applications like web browing, playing video, writing text and editing photos.

honor 5X ASUS
ZenFone 2 Laser
Samsung
Galaxy S6
Work Performance Score
(Average)
3898 3539 5078
Web Browsing 3756 3829 6788
Video Playback 4325 3835 3091
Writing 4370 4085 5918
Photo Editing 3250 2614 5357

The honor 5X (Amazon) is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor, but all that extra processing power does not matter much when it comes to basic work usage. It is only slightly faster than the ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser which uses a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor.

Battery Performance – PCMark

We then tested the honor 5X’s battery performance using PCMark. It basically ran the PCMark work tests until its battery capacity dropped to 20%.

The honor 5X (Amazon) lasted just over 8.5 hours on the PCMark stress test. This is a stress test that simulates the worst possible workload using work apps. In our real world experience, we had no problem using it for 12-14 hours with light loads, although its battery life dropped to about 6.5 hours while playing games.

Battery Recharging Performance

The honor 5X has a large 3,000 mAh lithium-ion battery, but it does not have Fast Charging capability. In fact, it only comes with a 5 W travel charger. Even so, it was able to recharge its battery pretty quickly.

Our tests showed that the honor 5X (Amazon) will recharge from 19% to 100% in just over 170 minutes (2 hours 50 minutes).

Our Verdict On The honor 5X

After testing the honor 5X (Amazon), we can see why everyone’s raving about it. The honor 5X doesn’t waste effort on being the thinnest or the lightest. It just delivers a solid set of core features at a very affordable price point.

Large full HD display? Check.
Metal alloy body? Check.
Octa-core processor? Check.
Dual SIM with microSD card expansion? Check.
Decent cameras with 1080p video recording? Check.

It only has one fancy feature – a fingerprint sensor, and honor nailed its implementation. It’s very fast and accurate. In fact, it will become second nature to instantly turn on and log into the honor 5X by simply touching the fingerprint sensor with a registered finger.

We would like to applaud honor’s decision to support both micro and nano SIM cards. This may not seem important to everyone, but this may save a trip to the telco for those who are upgrading from another smartphone. We should also point out that you can use both SIM cards together with a microSD card for extra storage. [adrotate banner=”4″]We also like the large 3,000 mAh lithium-ion polymer battery. It lasted a solid 8.5 hours of non-stop benchmarking on PCMark. In real world usage, it should have no issues lasting 12-14 hours of non-stop use.

For the next version of the honor 5X, we would like to see a better camera sensor and a dual-tone LED flash. That would allow it to really shine in its photographic capabilities. We would also like it if honor would add scratch-resistant glass protection (with an oleophobic coating).

Overall, the honor 5X (Amazon) is a no-nonsense Android smartphone with a focus on practical features. If you want something that is sleek, not flashy; with only the features that matter, you can’t go wrong with the honor 5X.

honor Band Z1

26 January 2016 – honor today launched its first smartband, the honor Band Z1 featuring a deceptively simple design paired with advanced and intelligent technology. The Band Z1 is the perfect accessory for active and trendy users on-the-go, thanks to its subdued and understated look.

Elegant and refined look

Inspired by Scandinavian minimalism that takes inspiration from nature, practicality, and appearance – the surface of the Band Z1 is devoid of any buttons, which in turn accentuates the simplicity of its circular surface.

To create the tough yet refined look that is the Band Z1, steel is used as its main material. A combination of CNC machining, hand polishing and sand polishing techniques were used to achieve the stylish finish. It is also scratch resistant and durable enough to withstand your active lifestyle Additionally, the beautiful strap makes it elegant enough to be worn for a night out with friends.

Convenient Notifications

The 1.06 inch 128 x 128 pixels resolution touchscreen on the Band Z1 features a touch-sensitive button-free operation. Access your notifications, alarms and the clock with just a simple swipe. Plus, the soft-lit PMOLED screen is unique as it is vivid enough when in a darkened area – such as a cinema or a club – yet is legible enough in sunlit locations as well.

With its large display and ample memory, the honor Band Z1 supports caller display and allows you to read messages and emails. It currently supports English, German, Italian, French, Portuguese, Spanish, and Japanese.

Accurate health tracking

Thanks to the high accuracy G-sensor, as well as honor’s advanced algorithm software, the honor Band Z1 can automatically detect and log your walking, running or sports activities accurately. The data recorded includes number of steps taken, calorie consumption, exercise time and distance – all this without the need to install any app on the smartphone.

In addition, the capacitive sensor and Polysomnography (PSG) can intelligently distinguish between wake and sleep, as well as taking users’ light and deep sleep states. Thanks to the design of the Band Z1, it will not leave any compression marks on the wrists as you sleep since it fits the curvature of the wrist perfectly.

Premium and smart functions in one

[adrotate banner=”4″]The bracelet strap material is stain-resistant and comes in three different colours – Classic White, Classic Black, and Cream. Thanks to precision design and manufacturing, the honor Band is IP68 certified, making it dust-proof and waterproof to a depth of 1.5 m
