Malaysia just raised the electricity tariff for the top 1% of households, while slashing industrial power tariffs!
Malaysia Hikes Electricity Tariff For Top 1% Of Households
On Friday, 23 June 2023, the Malaysia Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC) Ministry announced a hike in the electricity tariff for the top 1% of households for the second half of 2023.
From July to December 2023, household using more than 1,500 kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity per month, will no longer enjoy the 2 sen/kWh rebate. In addition, they will incur a surcharge of 10 sen/kWh, resulting in a total increase of 12 sen/kWh.
What this effectively means is that all those high-consumption households will see a minimum increase of RM 187 or 25%. Approximately 83,000 households would be affected if they continue to use more than 1,500 kWh per month.
For the ICPT adjustments within the period of July to December 2023, the users who will be affected are domestic users who use more than 1,500-kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity and the majority of which live in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Penang.
Of course, those high-consumption households can avoid the surcharge by reducing their power consumption.
The remaining 99% of domestic users will be unaffected by this hike in electricity tariff. The government has allocated RM2.7 billion to continue their electricity subsidy.
Malaysia Reduces Electricity Surcharge For MV / HV Users!
Meanwhile, the electricity tariff surcharge for non-domestic medium-voltage (MV) and high-voltage (HV) users will be reduced from 20 sen/kWh to 17 kW/h for the months of July to December 2023.
This is based on normalising fuel costs – the electricity tariff surcharge is adjusted every six months under the ICPT mechanism to reflect changes in power generation costs in the preceding six months.
The electricity surcharge for non-domestic customers using low-voltage (LV) power, such as small and medium-industries (SMEs) will remain unchanged at 3.7 sen/kWh.
Finally, the government agreed to greatly lower the electricity surcharge on water and sewerage operators, from 20 sen/kWh to just 3.7 sen/kWh.

People keep sharing this photo as evidence that Americans / Israelis are stealing Palestinian homes, every time there is a conflict between Israel and the Palestinians.
It notably went viral in May 2021, after Michael Moore posted it on his Facebook wall, and keeps going viral every few months since then.
If someone took/stole your home right now, and moved you out because a theocracy ordered it — or what if this same theocracy bulldozed your home and tossed you out into a field and told you and your children to GTF outta here — what would YOUR response be?
What would you have the moral right to do about it? And to be perfectly clear, I don’t care if it was a Christian Fascist German soldier in 1941 forcibly removing you from your home, or an American bank in 2008 forcibly removing you and kicking you to the curb while taking your home — it’s gut-check time, folks (and yes, I mean you too, fellow pacifists):
What would you have the moral and human right and DUTY to do about it, to respond to it, to stop it? And would the rest of the world just stand by and let you suffer as it so often does?
When do we all just put a stop to this, to grind the gears of the machine to a complete halt and replace the plutocracy (we’re not a democracy), the theocracy (you’re not a democracy), and any racial, religious or corporate supremacy with TRUE democracy, FULL human rights, and love?
Truth : Brooklyn Couple Did NOT Steal Palestinian Couple’s Home!
This is a rather iconic photo – a Palestinian couple looking at what used to be their ancestral home, now occupied by an Israeli couple. We decided to investigate the photo, and here was what we found…
Fact #1 : The Photo Was Taken In Israel
This photo is genuine, and was taken in the village of Ijzim, about 30 minutes south of Haifa in Israel.
Just to be clear, Ijzim is not in the West Bank, or the Gaza Strip – territory under partial or full Palestinian control.
Fact #2 : The Photo Was Taken In 2020
Despite what people may say, this photo was not taken recently. It was taken and published in May 2020. The last time the elderly Palestinian couple was in Ijzim was 72 years ago.
Fact #3 : Ijzim Was Depopulated In 1948
Israel captured Ijzim during the 1948 War, and the majority of the villagers fled or were expelled during the Palestinian Nakba (Catastrophe). The Israelis quickly demolished the Arab houses to make way for permanent Jewish settlements.
Photo credit : Fred Csasznik – Front cover of The Birth of the Palestinian Refugee Problem by Benny Morris, Cambridge University Press 1989.
Fact #4 : Palestinians No Longer Own These Lands
While the Nakba can be argued as morally wrong, this is not an uncommon practice whenever a country annexes or conquers a region.
For example, the Soviet Union expelled Germans from East Prussia after World War 2, and gave the southern part to Poland, while Lithuania was given the northern part.
Today, East Prussia is part of Poland and Lithuania – both members of the European Union and NATO. Germans who were expelled between 1945 and 1949 can visit their ancestral homes, but they cannot claim ownership over those lands.
More directly – there is no evidence the elderly Palestinian couple have any paper to prove their prior ownership of the land on which their home used to be.
Fact #5 : The House Was Not Their Home
The house in the photo is not the same house that the elderly Palestinian couple used to live in. That house, which belonged to the Palestinian man’s father, was demolished during the Nakba, and a new home was built on the land.
So it is factually wrong to say that the elderly Palestinian couple was looking at “the house they once lived in“. The house they were looking at is completely different from the house they once lived in.
That does not mean that the Palestinian couple has no right to feel hurt over their loss. It was, after all, where they once lived. But whether they are entitled to that land that they abandoned more than 70 years ago is another question altogether.
Fact #6 : It Was Part Of An Al-Jazeera Project
For those who doubt the authenticity of the photo, I can confirm that it is genuine and was taken as part of an al-Jazeera project.
In May 2020, Najwan Simri of Al Jazeera took an elderly Palestinian couple to visit their original homes and to meet their current Israeli residents. Here is the Al Jazeera video clip, as well as an English translation.
Some towns and cities inside the Green Line will become the hope of those in the diaspora. But they will also become a station of refuge for others.
Here lives a family uprooted from a nearby village. We had an appointment with Hajjeh Im Samir to accompany her there. Her [ailing] husband insisted on coming with us because he said the air of Ijzim is the best cure.
Despite its beauty, the road there seems desolate as if it gets you to the place but doesn’t take you there. Eagerly, Im Samir organizes our tour for us and tells us the names of the [Palestinian] owners of the houses.
Our first stop is God’s house. Its stones have been preserved as they were. Alone, the colors of its locked doors change each time the dryness of the seasons intensifies.
Here, Abu Samir does not stay in the car because this stop [station] is the location for which he has most longed in order to banish the other stations of his life. “This was our house, my father’s house. After the ‘48 wars, the Jews occupied it.”
After a few minutes, the residents of the house come out to [the gate]. They ask us what we want. We say, this is the owner of the house; how do you feel living in a house built on the wreckage of his house? [The answer] Frankly, I don’t feel anything. I am very happy. Living here is very enjoyable.
How strange is the distance between the owner of the house and he who is occupying it. How strange is the irony between he who has to stand inside the gate and he who must stand outside the gate. How strong Abu Samir is! For other uprooted people have refused to accompany us [on our tour]. One of them told us that he cannot bear to glimpse through the window of his father’s house a foreigner living there.
And that [glimpse] could possibly be of a strange symbol, like [what is glimpsed through the window] of a stolen [Palestinian] school converted into a temple with an emblem [the flag of Israel] that is not as old as the memory of the stones of the school.
And so, an extreme picture! It is said that the passage of time helps in forgetting, but, in the Palestinian case, it seems that the equation of time is different and that the years are merely a number. Rather, the longer the banishment of the Palestinians is, the more they remember.
– This is Najwan Simri, reporting from the depopulated village of Ijzim for Al Jazeera.
Fact #7 : No Evidence The Couple Was From Brooklyn
The most authoritative source for this photo was Al Jazeera, and even they did not identify the Israeli couple, much less confirmed that they were from Brooklyn, New York City.
Despite my extensive searching, I could find no source to back up this claim. None of the earlier posts using this picture – in May to June 2020 – even mentioned that the Israeli couple were from Brooklyn.
Therefore, it is highly likely that their Brooklyn origin is completely bogus, and was added much later.
Many detractors have pointed out that this is of no importance. If that is true, then I ask – why lie about this? Why claim, without evidence, that the couple was from Brooklyn?
IMHO, it must have been important for the people who added this “Brooklyn” connection to tie this “occupation” of Palestinian land to the Americans. Hence, the necessity to claim that the Jewish couple was from the United States.

All three Roborock S8 models feature a new cleaning system with two rubber roller brushes, instead of just a single brush in previous models. The dual roller brushes improves its dust pickup, while more effectively tackling matter hair.
All three models also come with higher suction power – up to 6,000 Pa, for a superior cleaning performance. They also feature the Roborock Carpet Boost+ System, which boasts 30% better hair pick-up rate by identifying carpets using ultrasound so the vacuum lifts itself over them and increases suction power for better cleaning.
These robot vacuums also used 3D structured light and infra-red imaging technology to identify and avoid potential hazards on the floor, whether it’s bright or dark.
The top-of-the-line S8 Pro Ultra comes with the new RockDock Ultra system, which delivers automatic mop cleaning, dust emptying and refilling, and self-cleaning.
When the S8 Pro Ultra is in the mopping mode, its dual brush system automatically raises 6 mm to prevent cross-contamination when it returns to the docking station. In addition, it uses warm air drying to prevent mould and odours developing on the mop pad and dock.
The VibraRise 2.0 Mopping System is available on the S8 Pro Ultra and the S8+ models, vibrating at 3,000 times per minute to remove stains from floors. The S8 Pro Ultra comes with two vibration modes for the best possible cleaning in different situations.

Was David DePape, who attacked Paul Pelosi with a hammer, a male prostitute he hired the night before?!
Take a look at the viral claim, and find out what the facts really are!
Updated @ 2023-01-28 : Added the bodycam and CCTV surveillance videos on the night of the assault. Originally posted @ 2022-11-01
Claim : David DePape Was A Prostitute Paul Pelosi Hired!
The Santa Monica Observer went viral recently, after Elon Musk shared a story by its staff writer, Stan Greene, that claimed David DePape was actually a male prostitute that Paul Pelosi hired!
It’s a long, rambling article, so feel free to skip to the next section for the facts!
The Awful Truth: Paul Pelosi Was Drunk Again, And In a Dispute With a Male Prostitute Early Friday Morning.
As SF’s gay bars closed at 2 am, two gay men met in a bar and went home together. Happens every night in the City by the Bay. Except one of these two men, was married to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
I might disappear for telling you the truth. If I do, you’ll all know why. But here’s what really happened early Friday morning in San Francisco. IMHO–in my humble opinion.
According to SFPD “RP [Reporting Person] stated that there’s a male in the home and that he’s going to wait for his wife. RP stated that he doesn’t know who the male is but he advised that his name is David, and that he is a friend,” the dispatch official said. “RP sounded somewhat confused.”
It’s been a rumor for years in SF that Paul Pelosi is gay. David Depape is said to be a Castro Nudist. “The lunatic who allegedly assaulted Paul Pelosi is a Berkeley resident and a ‘Former Castro Nudist Protester’ and hemp ‘jewelry maker’ …sounds totally MAGA Republican to me. 🤣🤣” this from Twitter.
Ok, so here’s the theory, as related to me by a source: “Castro Nudists are a group of really radical gay male prostitutes that parade around naked with c–k rings. First of all, the Police did not come in response to an alarm. They come in response to a “wellness check”. So someone called them to check on Pelosi.”
“When he didn’t answer the phone, the cops broke the sliding glass door to get in. Pelosi was struggling with the suspect, who was in his underwear.
Pelosi owned the hammer. Not Depape. Or, the male prostitute was doing something Pelosi didn’t like.”
“And then there was the press conference when they didn’t know the mic was on. During that, a reporter confirmed that the suspect was a gay Castro Nudist, but (authorities) told him he couldn’t use it.”
“Now tell me something. These people are worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Nancy is third in line to the Presidency. You don’t think they have the most amazing security? And by the way, when Pelosi was in that drunk driving accident, he had a young man with him, and that too was covered up by the police and the press.”
“How would (suspect Depape) have been able to break a window that without triggering an alarm? He didn’t. The police broke the window to gain entry. There was only one hammer, and it belonged to Pelosi. And only ONE cop quoted the perpetrator saying, “Where’s Nancy?” None of the other sources said that happened. “
“And one of them could easily have broken that window. Remember, there was no alarm triggered. How would (suspect Depape) have gotten into that house without doing that? The cops smashed the glass to gain entry.”
Who called 911 to initiate a wellness check? Either Nancy or her staff, who hadn’t hear from Paul all evening and suddenly it’s 2 am. Or a neighbor, hearing a fight at the Pelosi residence.
Truth : David DePape Was NOT A Prostitute Paul Pelosi Hired!
This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS created to generate page views and money from gullible people.
Fact #1 : Santa Monica Observer Is Notorious For Fake News
Santa Monica Observer is a “content aggregator” (copy and paste) website that is known for creating fake news to generate more page views and money.
To look legitimate, they copy and paste news from legitimate news organisations. To drive traffic, they create fake news. Here’s a selection of fake claims they posted in the past:
Hillary Clinton died in 2016, and it was her body double who debated Donald Trump.
Trump appointed Kanye West to a high-level position in the Interior Department.
Bill Gates is responsible for the recent polio epidemic.
Fact #2 : David DePape Broke Into Paul Pelosi’s Home
Santa Monica Observerfalsely claimed that David DePape was a male prostitute who stayed overnight at Paul Pelosi’s home, but had a quarrel that resulted in the assault.
It’s a silly claim, because DePape admitted to police, in a sworn affidavit to the US District Court of Northern California, that he broke into the house through a rear glass door at around 2 AM on October 28, 2022.
DEPAPE stated that he broke into the house through a glass door, which was a difficult task that required the use of a hammer. DEPAPE stated that Pelosi was in bed and appeared surprised by DEPAPE. DEPAPE told Pelosi to wake up.
Santa Monica Observerfalsely claimed that Paul Pelosi owned the hammer that was used in the attack.
David DePape planned to take US Speaker Nancy Pelosi hostage, interrogate her, and possibly break her kneecaps. So he brought two hammers (one later found in his backpack), a roll of tape, white rope, one pair of rubber and cloth gloves, and a journal.
[L]aw enforcement searched DEPAPE’s backpack at the Pelosi residence, and they found, among other things, a roll of tape, white rope, one hammer, one pair of rubber and cloth gloves, and a journal.
Police would later find another two hammers, together with a sword, and another pair of rubber and cloth gloves at DePape’s own garage.
On January 28, 2023, CCTV surveillance video showed David DePape hitting the glass door at the back of the Pelosi house 16 times with a hammer, before smashing his way inside.
This video clip shows David DePape smashing his way into Nancy and Paul Pelosi's home.
Santa Monica Observerfalsely claimed that the police went to conduct a “wellness check” on Paul Pelosi after someone else called them.
The truth is – the San Francisco Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call from Paul Pelosi at 2:23 AM, after he managed to escape to the bathroom.
Pelosi told the dispatcher that there was a male whom he did not know in his home, and that the man who called himself David was going to wait for his wife – US Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
San Francisco Police Department officers responded to the Pelosi residence at 2:31 AM.
Fact #5 : Police Officers Did Not Break The Window / Door
Santa Monica Observerfalsely claimed that the police broke a window or sliding glass door to gain entry into the Pelosi residence.
The truth is – when the police officers arrived, they knocked on the door, and Paul Pelosi ran to the door to open it. That was when Pelosi and DePape got into a tussle over the hammer.
When the door opened, the officers saw both Pelosi and DePape grappling over the hammer, with DePape holding Pelosi’s forearm with his other hand.
When the officers asked them both to drop the hammer, DePape pulled it out of Pelosi’s hand and hit him on the head, knocking him unconscious.
On January 28, 2023, the police released the bodycam video of the officers who responded. You can see that Paul Pelosi opened the front door (which is a wooden door) for them, before he was assaulted by DePape with a hammer.
Fact #6 : David DePape Is Not Gay, Nor A Prostitute
Santa Monica Observerfalsely claimed that David DePape is a male prostitute. There is no evidence DePape is gay or a prostitute.
He is a hemp jewellery maker who once lived with a nudist activist, Oxane “Gypsy” Taub. She lived with him for many years, and was the mother of his children – two sons and a daughter.
DePape also had another child, with a different unnamed woman, according to his stepfather, Gene DePape.
Fact #7 : David DePape Espoused Right Wing Conspiracy Views
Santa Monica Observer and many US conservatives are trying to frame David DePape as a left wing Castro nudist liberal.
However, DePape’s blog and social media posts show that he is deep into right wing conspiracy theories like:
He posted that journalists who deny Donald Trump’s false claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 Presidential election “should be dragged straight out into the street and shot”.
He posted and referenced QAnon – the baseless conspiracy theory espoused by Trump supporters, that the US is run by a deep state cabal of child sex traffickers, pedophiles and baby-eating cannibals.
He also claimed that Jews helped finance Hitler’s political rise in Germany.
He was also a Trump supporter, calling for the disgraced former president to run for office again, and make Tulsi Gabbard his Vice President running mate.
Fact #8 : Paul Pelosi Was Alone During His Drunk Driving Accident
Santa Monica Observerfalsely claimed that there was a young man with Paul Pelosi when he hit a car while driving under the influence of alcohol.
The accident report showed that only the two drivers were involved in the accident. There were no passengers in both cars.
Everything that Santa Monica Observer publishes should be regarded as FAKE NEWS, until proven otherwise.

At 8 AM this morning, Air Selangor announced that the Threshold Odour Number (TON) has dropped to 0 for the Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant (Sg Semenyih WTP), and 2 TON for the Bukit Tampoi WTP.
At around 10 AM on Christmas Day 2022, Air Selangor announced that it recorded the Threshold Odour Number (TON) level of 0 three times in a row at the Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant (Sg Semenyih WTP).
At 2:30 PM, the Bukit Tampoi WTP also recorded 0 TON three times in a row, allowing that water treatment plant to restart operations,.
Air Selangor also announced that the Sungai Semenyih WTP has started pumping out clean water at 2 PM today, and will fully restore water supply by 6 AM on Tuesday, 27 December 2022.
The Bukit Tampoi WTP started producing clean water at 6 PM, and will fully restore water supply by 2 PM on Monday, 26 December 2022.
As of 10 PM on Monday, December 26, 2022, Air Selangor announced that it has restored water supply to 98% of affected areas.
Only a few areas in the Petaling district and one area in the Sepang district have not received water supply.
Petaling : Taman Bukit Serdang, Taman Mutiara Indah, Taman Saujana Puchong, USJ 11, USJ 12, USJ 15
At 7 AM on 24 December 2022, Air Selangor announced that it had to quickly shut down the Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and Bukit Tampoi Water Treatment Plant (WTP), due to “odour pollution” at the Jenderma Hilir Raw Water Pump Station.
Subang Jaya assemblyman Michelle Ng later confirmed that the water cut was due “perfume essence” being dumped into the river.
The pollution this time took place in Negeri Sembilan. Perfume essence was dumped into the river. It is one of the most difficult smells to (get) rid of.
As at 10am, the ton (threshold odour number) recorded is as follows: 1 ton at Sungai Limau Manis, 1 ton 1.5km from Sungai Semenyih intake and 4 ton at Sungai Semenyih intake point.
The smell shows to be gradually reducing closer to intake; it is therefore a matter of time before 0 ton is recorded.
Until then, a total of 472 areas in Selangor and Putrajaya continue to have their water supply cut, with 172 areas in Petaling, 54 areas in Hulu Langat, 196 areas in Sepang, 23 areas in Putrajaya, and 27 areas in Kuala Langat.

In my review of the EBL lithium-ion AA batteries and 8-bay charger, I will share with you why this is the future of AA batteries!
EBL 8-Bay Lithium-Ion Charger + AA Batteries Review!
The future of AA batteries is here, and it comes in the form of EBL lithium-ion AA batteries, and the 8-bay Li-Ion battery charger!
Most of us have long relied on rechargeable AA batteries using NiCad (Nickel-Cadmium) and NiMH (Nickel-Metal Hydride) technologies which were developed in the 1980s.
They are set to be replaced by AA batteries built on lithium-ion technology – the same kind of battery used in your smartphone and laptops.
So I was most excited when EBL said that they would send me their latest lithium-ion AA batteries and 8-bay Li-Ion battery charger to try out.
EBL 8-Bay Lithium-Ion Charger + AA Batteries : What’s In The Box?
EBL sent me their most popular AA battery bundle, which consists of an 8-bay Li-Ion battery charger, and eight of their lithium-ion AA batteries. They also offer them for sale as separate items.
The package arrived in a simple black plastic bag – there is no special bundle packaging. EBL would do well to add bubble wrapping to prevent damage to the box, and pilfering from the package.
There are the items that you will receive if you purchase the EBL 8-bay Li-Ion battery charger and 8-battery bundle :
1 x EBL 8-bay Lithium-Ion Battery Charger
1 set of EBL Lithium-Ion Battery Charger + Lithium Ion Battery manuals
1 x USB Type A to micro-USB Type B power cable
8 x EBL Lithium-Ion AA batteries
2 x AA battery storage cases
EBL 8-Bay Lithium-Ion Charger Review!
The EBL 8-Bay lithium-ion charger has a pretty simple design. It has 8 battery bays, supporting up to eight AA or AAA lithium-ion batteries, or a mix of them.
However, please note that this charger only supports lithium-ion rechargeable batteries. Please do not use it to recharge your NiCd / NiMH rechargeable batteries!
Every bay has a separate circuit, allowing for optimal charging according to each battery’s condition. It is also smart enough to prevent over-charging, over-voltage, over-current and overheating while charging.
That said, EBL recommends that you take out the batteries once they are fully-charged, and do not leave them in the charger. Trickle-charging lithium-ion batteries is not good for their lifespan.
I would also recommend that you disconnect the charger after use, because it will use up to 0.3 watts of power even when it’s not charging any battery. That “vampire power loss” may seem little, but it is still a waste of power.
Power input comes through the very common Type A to micro-USB cable. In 2022, I would have very much preferred a bidirectional USB Type C connector. But this is a minor inconvenience – you won’t generally remove the cable unless you are travelling.
The 8-bay charger has a 10 watt power input, delivering up to 1.25 watts per bay when fully-loaded with eight batteries, and up to 1.5 watt per bay with fewer batteries.
However, EBL does not provide a 10 watt USB power adaptor to actually power this 8-bay lithium-ion battery charger. So you will need to purchase a separate USB power adaptor, or use the one that came with your smartphone.
Just make sure the USB power adaptor can deliver 10 watts or more. Otherwise, charging will be much slower.

EBL 8-Bay Lithium-Ion AA Batteries Review!
The EBL lithium-ion AA batteries work like any other rechargeable AA batteries. Just plug them into any device that requires AA batteries, and they just work.
These lithium-ion batteries have a capacity of 3,000 mWh, which is equivalent to 2,000 mAh. So they are equivalent in capacity to many NiMH batteries, but about 18% lower than top-shelf Eneloop Pro batteries.
EBL claims that they have a low self-discharge like Eneloop batteries, and will retain up to 80% of its capacity 3 years after it’s fully-charged. But they do not come pre-charged, because so you will need to charge them for 6-8 hours before using them.
The biggest advantage of the EBL lithium-ion AA battery though is its ability to deliver 1.5 volts of constant current. This beats NiCad and NiMH batteries which are limited to just 1.2-1.4 volts.
Even though these batteries have similar capacities to NiCad/NiMH batteries, their higher voltage means they deliver 7% to 25% more power.
That extra power is useful when it comes to certain devices, like Nerf guns or electric toothbrushes for example. You will get higher performance with these 1.5 volt lithium-ion batteries than you would with NiCad / NiMH batteries.

Are Japan, South Korea and China going to ban microwave ovens because they emit unhealthy radiation?!
Take a look at the viral claim, and find out what the facts really are!
Claim : Japan, Korea + China Are Going To Ban Microwave Ovens!
People are sharing this message on WhatsApp, which claims that Japan, South Korea and China are going to ban microwave ovens because they emit “unhealthy vibrations and radiation”!
End of Microwave industry!!!!! Japan govt has decided to high dispose of all the Microwave Ovens in the country before this year end.
Reason for this ban: University of Hiroshima’s scientists researched and found that “radio waves” from microwave ovens cause greater harm to health over the last 20 yrs, than the US atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Sep 1945.
Experts found that food heated in microwave ovens has very unhealthy vibrations and radiation.
All the factories of “microwave ovens” in Japan are being closed.
S Korea announced plans to close all “microwave ovens” factories by 2021, and China by 2023.
Truth : Japan, Korea + China Are Not Going To Ban Microwave Ovens!
This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS circulating on WhatsApp, and here are the reasons why…
Fact #1 : This Hoax Started As Satire
This fake story started as a “satirical article” by the Russian “satire” website IA Panorama, with the title “Япония окончательно откажется от СВЧ-печей к 2020 году“, which translates as “Japan will finally abandon microwave ovens by 2020”
Like other “satire” websites, IA Panorama creates outlandish stories that are designed to go viral. To avoid the “fake news” label, they put a disclaimer at the bottom of their article :
All texts on this website are grotesque parodies of reality, and are not real news.
Fact #2 : It Gets Recycled Every Year
This fake story gets recycled and shared on Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp, etc. every year, with the date and some minor details changed.
The original Russian story only said that Japan was going to ban microwave ovens. In the 2022 edition, that was expanded to include South Korea and China.
Fact #3 : Microwave Ovens Are Not Getting Banned
To be clear – microwave ovens are not getting banned. Not in Japan, not in South Korea, not in China, or anywhere else in the world.
In fact, China and Japan are the second and third biggest markets for microwave ovens in 2022!
Fact #4 : Microwave Ovens Do Not Make Food Radioactive
Microwave ovens work by generating electromagnetic radiation in the microwave frequency range, that excites polar molecules in the food.
This dielectric heating produces thermal energy in a quick and efficient manner, albeit limited to the outer 25-33 mm of the food item.
It does not turn the food radioactive, because the microwave energy is converted into heat as it is absorbed by the food.
Fact #5 : Microwave Radiation Does Not Cause Cancer
The radiation produced by microwave ovens is non-ionising, like radio waves and visible light. The only non-ionising radiation that causes cancer is UV light.
It is unlike ionising radiation like x-rays, alpha and beta particles, and gamma rays, which are high-energy radiation that can change atoms by knocking off their electrons, thereby “ionising” them.
Even if you are exposed to microwave radiation, you won’t develop cancer. However, the microwave radiation will convert into heat when absorbed by your skin.
Fact #6 : Microwave Ovens Are Shielded
The microwave oven is designed to be a partial Faraday cage on five of its six sides, with a Faraday shield (the wire mesh) on its transparent window.
This keeps the microwave energy it produces within the oven, and protects the user from getting “cooked” as well.
If you have seen a Faraday cage demonstration at science shows (like this example below), it’s literally the same thing, just in reverse.
Fact #7 : Microwaved Food Is Safe
Food cooked or heated by microwave ovens are safe to eat. In fact, using the microwave to cook is a healthier alternative to frying or barbecuing foods.
That said, you need to use “microwave safe” wares. If you use plastic containers that are not microwave safe, they could not only melt, they can leach dangerous chemicals into the food.
So the danger lies not in the “nuking” of your food, but in the container you use to “nuke” your food.
Fact #8 : Microwave Ovens Are Efficient
Microwave ovens are very efficient at cooking foods, saving both electricity and time. The fast cooking time also has the advantage of preserving the food’s nutrients.
Microwaving foods do require some preparation though, as the microwaves can only penetrate the outer 25-33 mm of the food item, and will be reflected by aluminium foil, metal utensils or containers, etc.

Unfortunately, this Nespresso contest is yet another SCAM that you should NEVER participate in!
After you click on the link, you are taken to a page that looks like a genuine Nespresso contest page.
You will be asked to answer three very simple questions.
The answers are irrelevant – no matter what you answer, you are always allowed to proceed to the next step.
You are then asked to share the promotion with 30 WhatsApp contacts, or 5 WhatsApp groups.
Next, you will be asked to complete one of these tasks to receive the “free” Nespresso coffee machine :
a) install an app, which is really a malware to send you advertisements, or
b) enter your credit card details
Needless to say – proceeding with this step will open you up to great risk of monetary loss. DO NOT PROCEED!
If you install their malware, you will start receiving promotions, some of which will ask you to send an SMS to receive expensive free gifts like laptops and smartphones.
If you proceed to send the confirmation SMS messages, you will be subscribed and billed for international premium SMS services.
So never click on such contest links, even if they were sent to you by a trusted relative or friend.
They would have certainly been fooled by the scam, so please warn them too!
How To Spot Scams Like The Nespresso Survey Contest!
Now, let me show you how to spot these scams next time!
If you spot any of these warning signs, DO NOT PROCEED and DO NOT SHARE!
Warning Sign #1 : Bad Grammar
Most of these scammers do not have a good command of the English language, so if you spot bad grammar, stay away.
Proper contests or events sponsored by major brands like Nespresso will have at least one PR or marketing person who will vet the text before allowing it to be posted.
Warning Sign #2 : Offering You Free Money Or Gifts
Please do NOT be naive. No one is going to give you money or free gifts just to participate in a survey!
Petronas isn’t going to give you FREE money, just because it’s their anniversary.
They are a corporation whose business is to make money, not a charity to give you free money.
Warning Sign #3 : Not Using The Real Jaya Grocer Domain
A genuine Petronas campaign would use their real domain – www.petronas.com.
Or they would run it off the official Petronas page on Facebook – www.facebook.com/petronas/.
If you see nonsensical domains like 0yjjg61.cn, 1eaf1rnbeef.top, ldxqw.bar, etc. that’s a sign of a SCAM!
Warning Sign #4 : Asking You To Forward The Offer
No brand will insist that you must share the offer with 5 groups or 20 friends on WhatsApp.
Do not click to forward their offer to your family and friends. They will not appreciate being scammed with your help!
Warning Sign #5 : Asking You To Download + Register An App
If you click through and joined the fake survey scam, you will eventually be asked to download and register for an app.
This is VERY DANGEROUS. Never agree to download and register for any unknown app from a website.
Always download your apps from an official App Store like Google Play Store (for Android smartphones) and Apple App Store (for iPhones).
Please help us fight scams like this and SHARE this article out!
And please WARN your family and friends!

Are homeless people in the US setting up tents and robbing passengers on subway trains?!
Take a look at the viral video, and find out what the facts really are!
Claim : US Homeless Are Setting Up Tent + Robbing People In Subway!
People are sharing a video of homeless people in the US setting up their tent in the middle of a subway train, and then a homeless man rob another subway passenger of his food.
It is being actively shared in pro-China groups, and by pro-China social media accounts, together with messages like these :
US homeless has moved into the subway. The US homeless has moved into the subway car, and is also robbing other passengers for food in the subway car. The US government should spend more time dealing with domestic problems, instead of going abroad to set fires everywhere. Really US have degenerated to such sad state very depressing 👇👇
PRC.Forces0 : #Homeless couple camp in #NYC subway, snatching food from other passengers.
Such shameful story in US.
Truth : US Homeless Are NOT Setting Up Tent + Robbing People In Subway!
This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS created and/or propagated by the Chinese 50 Cent Army (wumao, 五毛), and here are the reasons why…
Fact #1 : It Was A Staged Prank Video
The video was a staged comedy prank by American comedians Esteban Hashtag Tino Romero, and Smiley Hundo.
The video was originally posted by Tino Romero on his @Pundamoniums Instagram account on 12 January 2022.
Smiley Hundo also posted it on YouTube as a short video on 2 March 2022, calling it Homeless Couple Takes Man Food On NYC Train.
Fact #2 : Tino Romero Is Famous For Prank Videos
Tino Romero is famous for participating in pranks and stunts in New York City.
In July 2021, one of his videos went viral, showing him taking a dump into a NYC sanitation worker’s mop bucket!
Of course, that video was also staged – the MTA worker was Morris Cornbread, another New York City-based comedian.
That same video was also used by the Chinese 50 Cent Army as “evidence” of how far American society has fallen. It was a kind of payback for videos of Chinese citizens pooping in public that went viral years earlier.
Fact #3 : New York City Subway Is Patrolled By NYPD
The video appears to spread quickly amongst people who have never been to the United States, and are therefore unaware that the New York City subway is patrolled by the New York City Police Department (NYPD).
NYPD officers patrol the stations, and ride the trains to help prevent crime. They also make sure homeless people do not stay in the subway stations, or sleep on the train.
Therefore, it is impossible for homeless people to actually set up a tent in the middle of a subway train. NYPD officers on patrol would certainly evict them from the train.
Fact #4 : Homelessness Is A Problem Globally
While the video was staged, it is true that homelessness is a problem in the United States, and in particular, New York City which boasts some of the most expensive real estate and rental rates in the world.
But this is not an exclusively American problem. Homelessness is a global problem, affecting many countries around the world – rich and poor alike.
Instead of mocking the homeless, perhaps we should be grateful that we have a home to live in. Many people around the world don’t.
Why Create Fake Stories About Homeless People In US?!
With China’s aggressive foreign stance in recent years, it is not uncommon to see such fake stories being created and shared by the Chinese 50 Cent Army, and pro-China netizens.
These fake stories are being created to drown out the negative coverage of China’s controversial Belt and Road Initiative, and its aggressive moves in the South China Sea.
The Wumao have also been actively creating fake stories to support Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Whatever the reasons may be, it is our duty as global citizens to stop the proliferation of such fake stories.

The Xiaomi ROIDMI Eve Plus robot vacuum is really, REALLY AWESOME!
Find out why every home should have a little ROIDMI Eve Plus running around!
Why Xiaomi’s ROIDMI Eve Plus Is So Awesome!
One of the hottest gadgets for homeowners is a robot vacuum, which can be incredibly useful or a real pain in the ass.
What most homeowners in the market for a robot vacuum don’t understand is that many models don’t clean well, and are a hassle to maintain.
That’s why Xiaomi’s ROIDMI Eve Plus robot vacuum is so awesome – it is not only a cleaning powerhouse, it does away with almost all of the maintenance hassle!
Self-Emptying System
One of the biggest hassle in maintaining a robot vacuum is the constant need to empty the dust box.
This limitation prevents ordinary robot vacuums from automatically and continuously cleaning your house for days on end.
This is not a problem for the ROIDMI Eve Plus. When it returns to its base station to recharge its battery, its dust box is automatically emptied into the base station!
This allows the Eve Plus to continuously recharge and empty its dust box, and clean your house for weeks on end!
The base station’s large 3L dust bag can hold enough dust for 60 days, before you need to clear it.
Self-Sanitising System
The ROIDMI Eve Plus not only comes with a HEPA filter – a common feature in robot vacuums, it boasts a pioneering Deodorizing Particle Generator in the base station.
The Deodorizing Particle Generator uses Active Oxygen technology to sterilise the collected dust, eliminating dust mites as well as microbes and mold like E. coli, Candida albicans and Staphylococcus aureus.
It can also eliminate toxic chemicals like formaldehyde, ammonia, benzene and TVOC, as well as remove the smell of cigarettes and perfume.
4th Generation Super-Sensing LDS Sensor
The ROIDMI Eve Plus comes with their 4th generation laser distance sensor, which allows for highly-precise scanning of its environment.
It is constantly scanning for obstacles, so it will quickly detect people or pets nearby and avoid them.
AI Smart Room Mapping
The ROIDMI Eve Plus can precisely map and later remember every room in your house, across multiple levels!
Its built-in AI mapping and path planning algorithms allow it to better and faster clean the rooms, and resume its cleaning duties after charging or emptying its dust box.
The room maps it generates also allows you to demarcate forbidden areas, or schedule more frequent cleaning for certain rooms.
Separate maps can be saved for each floor, and the settings are automatically matched and switched, when switching floors.
4+ Hours Of Vacuum + Mopping!
The ROIDMI Eve Plus has a powerful digital brushless vacuum with 2,700 Pa of suction power, with side brushes and a flexible inlet that adjusts to the floor condition.
And thanks to its large 5,200 mAh battery, it can keep on cleaning for over 4 hours (250 minutes) before it needs to return to the base station!
If you like squeaky clean floors, the Eve Plus has a mopping module and a 250 ml water tank, to give you just that.
It simulates hand-mopping with its 3-stage Y-route (not available in the US) or U-route mopping
Obstacle Avoidance
The ROIDMI Eve Plus will never get stuck under your bed, sofa or cabinets, because it can automatically sense their height.
It is also smart enough to detect low obstacles like door strips or cables (up to 2 cm in height) and crawl over them.
It can also sense and climb up ramps with slopes of up to 20°, which lesser robot vacuums will balk at.
Xiaomi ROIDMI Eve Plus : What’s Inside The Box?
The Xiaomi ROIDMI Eve Plus comes in two separate boxes – one for the robot vacuum cleaner, and the other for its base station.
In this video, we take a look at what’s inside both boxes!

This is not a problem for the Xiaomi ROIDMI Eve Plus. When it returns to its base station to recharge its battery, its dust box is automatically emptied into the base station!
This allows the Eve Plus to continuously recharge and empty its dust box, and clean your house for weeks on end, thanks to its large 3L dust bag that can hold enough dust for 60 days.
The Xiaomi ROIDMI Eve Plus robot vacuum also comes with a self-sanitising system that combines a HEPA filter with a pioneering Deodorizing Particle Generator with Active Oxygen technology.
This unique self-sanitising system eliminates not only dust mites, microbes and mold, but also toxic chemicals like formaldehyde, benzene, as well as the smell of cigarettes and perfume.
The Xiaomi ROIDMI Eve Plus is also smart and powerful. It uses its 4th generation laser distance sensor to precisely map and remember its surroundings, even across multiple levels!
Its built-in AI mapping and path planning algorithms then use that map to automatically clean your rooms, self-empty itself and return to its cleaning duties – without any input!
Its built-in digital brushless motor delivers 2,700 Pa of suction power, while its 5,200 mAh battery lets it clean for over 4 hours before it needs to return to its base station for charging.

The free WiFi 6 router that Maxis is touting isn’t exactly FREE as claimed.
Here’s what I just found out, and what you should know about their “free” WiFi 6 router.
Maxis Fibre Broadband : What Free WiFi 6 Router?
On 18 February 2021, Maxis announced that they would make a new WiFi 6 router available for FREE to all new and existing Maxis Fibre Broadband customers!
The WiFi 6 router will be available for free from today, 18 February onwards for new customers who sign up for Maxis Fibre plans of 100Mbps and above. Existing Maxis Fibre customers will be contacted in phases for the router upgrade exercise. Maxis’ specialised Internet experts, Maxperts, will also provide free installation of the router to ensure that the WiFi is optimized for the best connectivity experience for the home.
When I wrote about it, I thought that was pretty generous of them, and a brilliant way to reduce churn and eat into Unifi’s business.
I quickly called up Maxis, eager to give it a try myself. But almost 7 months later, no one from the Maxis Fibre Broadband team called me up about this free WiFi 6 router upgrade.
Today, I found out that what Maxis announced in February was not exactly the truth. Here are the facts…
Maxis Fibre Warning : WiFi 6 Router NOT Exactly Free!
When Maxis first announced the availability of their free WiFi 6 router, they specifically stated that :
it would be made available for FREE for new customers who sign up for 100 Mbps or faster plans, and
existing customers would receive the upgrade in phases.
Neither are true… which is good news and bad news.
Based on my conversation with Amir from their Customer Service team, and Intan from their Fibre Broadband team on 17 September 2021, here are the facts :
The WiFi 6 router is only available to new customers, and existing customers who are already (or almost) out-of-contract.
This WiFi 6 router will not be made available to customers who are still under contract.
Existing customers will not be upgraded in phases as claimed. Rather, you have to call up Maxis customer service to request for the upgrade.
Existing customers MUST upgrade their existing plans to qualify for the WiFi 6 router upgrade.
If you are on 30 Mbps, you must upgrade to 100 Mbps or higher
If you are on 300 Mbps, you must upgrade to 500 Mbps or higher
Existing customers MUST sign up for a 2-year contract, which introduces this penalty should you terminate the contract at any point in time :
Early Termination Charge of RM500 or the remaining monthly subscription charges in the contract period, whichever is higher.
For existing customers, the WiFi 6 router replaces your existing router, which will be taken back by Maxis.
Since this occurs at the end of a contract, this implies that the routers are “leased” and do not belong to you even after you complete the contract.
Their FAQ mentioned that the WiFi 6 router is only given free to “new installations for all plans of Maxis Fibre“, including their cheaper 30 Mbps plan.
There is NO MENTION in the Maxis website of any requirement to upgrade your plan, or sign up for a new 2-year contract, to receive this “free” WiFi 6 router upgrade.
As a long-time Maxis Mobile and Maxis Fibre customer, I’m very disappointed to see them quietly change the terms for what would have been a great upgrade for their loyal customers.
Forcing people to upgrade their plans when they don’t need the extra speed means you are essentially paying for the router.
That’s RM20 to RM80 extra per month, or between RM480 and RM1,920 for a 2-year contract!
Don’t be the fool who ends up paying RM80 extra per month for a “free” WiFi 6 router, unless it’s gold-plated!
I can understand if they wish to tack on a 2-year contract, but at least make it clear to customers in the website, including the early termination penalty!
There is one piece of good news though – even their cheapest 30 Mbps plan comes with the WiFi 6 router!
Pro Tip #1 : Call Maxis customer service and switch to the 30 Mbps plan, before asking for the WiFi 6 upgrade. This way, you don’t have to upgrade to a faster plan unnecessarily.
Pro Tip #2 : If you are currently on the 30 Mbps plan and don’t want to upgrade for the free router, call to CANCEL the service and migrate to Unifi or TIME (which always gives free upgrades!). Their Save team will call you up to try and salvage your business.

Houseowners will be glad to learn that house renovation is now permitted to continue in PPN Phase 1 areas!
Here is what you need to know!
Earlier : Construction Allowed, But Not Renovation In PPN Phase 1
On 16 July 2021, the government announced that G3 and G4 contractors (in addition to G1 and G2) would also be allowed to resume their construction works.
For those who are wondering – how are G1, G2, G3 and G4 contractors defined, it’s based on their CIDB (Construction Industry Development Board) licence.
The G rating of their CIDB licence is based on their tendering capacity – they cannot tender for work exceeding these amounts :
G1 : Up to RM 200,000
G2 : Up to RM 500,000
G3 : Up to RM 1 million
G4 : Up to RM 3 million
At that time, renovation projects were not explicitly allowed to continue. Only construction on new projects were allowed to proceed.
Now : House Renovation Allowed In PPN Phase 1 Areas!
Professional or consultancy services for permitted construction work
Supply chain services for permitted construction work
So it is officially confirmed that starting from 4 August 2021 onwards, you will be permitted to resume or start any renovation of your residential home.
But please note that this only applies to RESIDENTIAL buildings in Phase 1 areas, not commercial buildings.
Those in Phase 2 areas have earlier been permitted to renovate both residential and commercial buildings.
Interestingly, they maintained the limit on maintenance and repairs to only critical work. That is loosely-worded but I have to wonder – why bother when you are already allowing people to renovate their homes?
In the newly-updated Phase 2 SOP, the government actually removed that limitation, allowing all maintenance and repair work to proceed.

Should you laminate official documents? Or will that invalidate or destroy those documents?
We take a look at this sticky issue, and find out what the facts really are!
Claim : It Is Illegal To Laminate Official Documents!
The availability of cheap heat lamination machines and plastic lamination film make it easy for many people to laminate their official documents against damage.
However, this viral message on social media is warning people that laminating your official documents could invalidate them!
Don’t laminate all official documents
Please inform your aunts, uncles, fathers and relatives or acquaintances …etc
All official documents including birth certificates must not be laminated because it is difficult to know the authenticity of the document, the act will lose its authenticity.
Please use a transparent file holder to store all official documents or certificates. Avoid lamination.
The guy who shared this info, had to apply for fresh title for his land all because he laminated it. Once laminated, considered spoiled or damaged by Government.
Beware! Avoid unnecessary hassle.
Is It Wrong To Laminate Official Documents? It Depends!
Many people laminate their official documents to protect them against damage, but generally, you should NEVER laminate your official documents.
You should only laminate them, when required under certain circumstances.
Here are the facts to help you determine when you should, or should not, laminate your official documents.
Fact #1 : Official Documents Should Not Be Altered In Any Way
You should never alter official documents like birth / death / divorce / marriage certificates, or vehicle / business / property registrations in any way.
This includes gluing them onto cardboard, punching holes in them for filing, or marking on them with a pen.
Fact #2 : Laminating Documents Could Invalidate Them!
Many official documents have embossed security seals and stamps to help prove their authenticity.
When you laminate such documents, the embossed seals and stamps are flattened by the heat and pressure of the lamination process.
This may invalidate those documents, effectively destroying their legal status.
In 2016, a Canadian man was denied a passport because he laminated his Certificate of Canadian Citizenship. He had to secure a new certificate.
Fact #3 : Laminated Documents Are Harder To Scan / Photocopy
Some official documents may come with a QR code, or bar code, imprinted as a security / validation measure.
Once laminated, the reflective plastic surface makes it harder to scan the QR or bar code, as well as to scan or make a photocopy.
Fact #4 : Lamination Films Adhesive May Damage Documents
Many plastic lamination films have an adhesive layer to ensure proper sticking to the paper.
This adhesive increases the risk of tearing if you attempt to delaminate the documents. It could also damage your documents, turning them yellow over time.
Fact #5 : You May Be Required To Laminate Certain Documents
The authorities may require you to laminate your official documents in certain cases. For example, the registration of the birth of a child to a Malaysian parent in Singapore requires a Singapore birth certificate that must be laminated.
To avoid damage to the official document that must be laminated, you can try placing it inside a clear, non-adhesive plastic sleeve, before laminating it.
This would prevent the adhesive from making contact with your document, and allow you to delaminate it without tearing.

This is limited to holidays and trips managed by tour agencies registered with MOTAC, who will keep the police informed of their travel plans, including the hotels used.
Travel is limited to RMCO areas, and the tour vehicles cannot enter or cut through CMCO areas.

Here is what you need to know about the Work From Home directive for RMCO and CMCO areas!
MKN : Work From Home Directive Still Applies!
On 11 December 2020, the Malaysia Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) confirmed that their Work From Home directive still applied for CMCO and TEMCO areas.
On 9 March 2021, MKN confirmed that the existing Work From Home directive would continue in CMCO areas, with 30% capacity for office / management staff.
Therefore, businesses are expected to continue implementing their work from home policies. This is only optional for RMCO areas.
MKN Work From Home Directive : What You Need To Know!
Here is a refresher course on the MITI Work From Home directive, based on the latest 23 October 2020 FAQ :
1. Is WFH Mandatory?
WFH is compulsory for management and supervisory staff in CMCO and TEMCO areas, including those involved in tasks like:
accounting
finance
administration
law
planning
ICT.
WFH is not compulsory for employees of these sectors, who are allowed to work as normal :
Up to 10 per cent of management and supervisory staff can be in the office, limited to 4 hours only – from 10 AM until 2 PM – for up to 3 days a week.
If the company has 10 people or fewer in the management and supervisory group, only one (1) person is allowed to come to the office at one time.
The company must issue an authorisation letter for each employee who is allowed to work.
3. Can We Rotate?
Companies can create a rotation system for their management and supervisory staff.
The company should maintain the rotation schedule, as well as a list of those who are working from home, and those who are allowed to work in the office.
4. Can We Change The Working Hours?
No, MITI requires companies to comply with these rules for management and supervisory staff :
maximum of 4 hours a day

Everyone’s laughing at Amazon for selling a Chinese potty as kitchen and dining table decoration, or as a “traditional fruit basket”.
You really cannot make this up! And yet, people have actually used it to chill wine and serve sauce!
Chinese Potty Sold As Decoration On Amazon!
This is the infamous post on Amazon, of a Chinese potty (also known as a Tam Pui). It not only serves as a chamber pot, it can also double as a spittoon.
But only on Amazon is it being marketed and sold as a “1960s Chinese Traditional Fruit Basket” or “Chinese Antique Kitchen & Dining Table Decoration” or “Traditional Fruit Basket”.
While it may seem like a joke, this is a real posting by a seller on Amazon.
The seller claims that it is an antique Chinese traditional fruit basket of the 1960s, that is suitable to be used as ice bucket for wine, or a housewarming gift, or a decorative item for your kitchen or dining table!
Even worse – the seller wanted a princely sum of CDN$68.45 (about US$54 / RM 219) for this Chinese potty that only costs about US$4 in China!
Tam Pui : Chinese Potty Explainer
To those who are unfamiliar with the Tam Pui – this is a chamber pot, a portable toilet, a potty. Some people also use it as a spittoon. But never for food or anything nice.
Those familiar with the Tam Pui have been laughing their asses off, because this is something many Chinese families used to potty train their children in the 1960s to maybe the 90s.
The child would sit on it and do his/her business into the Tam Pui, and the parents can clean them before disposing of the waste and toilet paper / waste water.
They are still used these days as portable urinals in hostels or rented rooms without ensuite toilets, for late night convenience.
And one may be purchased as a good luck gift for a newly-wed couple – to imply that they will soon have a baby.
Please Do NOT Use Chinese Potty Like This!
Unless you want to be thought as a complete moron by any person of Chinese ethnicity, as well as many other Asians, you should NOT use the Chinese potty to chill wine, as a bread basket, or to serve soup or sauce!

Even the recent announcement, which we summarised above, was so vague, many people had questions.
Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner : Top Questions Answered!
On 8 February 2021, the Malaysia National Security Council (MKN) finally released their answers to our top questions about the Chinese New Year reunion dinner :
Question #1 : Are family reunion dinners allowed?
Yes. Family reunion dinners are ALLOWED for not more than 15 close family members living within a radius of 10 km, without crossing district or state lines.
Question #2 : When are family reunion dinners allowed?
Only on Thursday, 11 February 2021.
Question #3 : If I live within 10 km but in a neighbouring district, can I still attend the family reunion dinner?
No, you are NOT allowed to cross district or state lines.
Question #4 : How many people are allowed to travel to the family reunion dinner in the same car on 11 February 2021?
According to the latest MCO SOP (updated on 4 February 2021), only TWO (2) persons may travel in the same car.
Question #5 : How do you define close family members?
Close family members allowed at the family reunion dinners :
husband and wife
parents
children
brothers and sisters
Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner : More Changes Expected
This is yet another clarification that brooks more questions than it answers.
Why Two Persons Per Car?
What’s the point of restricting families to only two persons per car?
How does that help prevent the spread of COVID-19? After all, they are from the same family!
All this rule does is force families to drive multiple vehicles to attend the dinner.
Why Forbid Inter-District Travel?
The 10 km limit should be sufficient to restrict travel, even though this really isn’t even enforceable.
Forbidding inter-district travel for the Chinese New Year reunion dinner does not help to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection.
Infected people spread COVID-19 – it doesn’t matter if they travel across districts, or within the district.
Either the government bans the reunion dinner completely, or allow it with inter-district travel. It really doesn’t make any difference.
Close Family Definition Too Vague
The close family definition is still too vague. MKN should have just made it simple and clear by just saying no friends allowed.
Right now, a strict reading of the FAQ means that brothers-in-law or sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews and nieces are not allowed.
We foresee them “clarifying” the definition later, to something simpler and yet more clear-cut like parents, brothers and sisters of the family, including their children.
