Dell just introduced the UltraSharp Webcam (WB7022) for the new Work From Home normal!
Here is what you need to know about the new Dell WB7022 UltraSharp Webcam!
Dell UltraSharp Webcam (WB7022) : All You Need To Know!
More than 18 months into the COVID-19 pandemic, the Work From Home (WFH) normal appears to be here to stay, at least for now.
To ensure that those who need to remotely work have the best possible video conferencing webcam, Dell just introduced the UltraSharp Webcam.
With nine patent-pending technologies, the Dell UltraSharp Webcam offers 4K image quality, built-in AI tracking and other video conferencing features.
4K Webcam With World’s Best Image Quality
Dell claims that the UltraSharp Webcam offers the world’s best image quality, courtesy of the large 4K Sony STARVIS CMOS sensor and the multi-element lens that captures more light to deliver “crystal-clear video”.
It supports frame rates of 24 and 30 fps at the full 4K UHD resolution. It also supports the higher 60 fps frame rate, at the lower 1080p and 720p resolutions.
It’s not just about the hardware. It’s also about the software embedded into the UltraSharp Webcam.
Its Digital Overlap HDR capability lets the Dell UltraSharp Webcam preserve true-to-life colours and balance exposure.
Meanwhile, its 2D/3D video noise reduction capability eliminates grainy images, making you look good even in low light conditions.
AI Auto-Framing
The Dell UltraSharp Webcam has AI Auto-Framing capability built-in. This feature uses Artificial Intelligence to keep you focused and centred in the frame.
You don’t have to manually adjust the webcam. It will track your movements and shift the frame to keep you centered, even if you stand up!
5X Digital Zoom + Three Fields of View
The Dell UltraSharp Webcam supports up to 5X digital zoom, as well as three fields of view – 65°, 78° and 90°.
This allows you to fit multiple people in the same conference call, or focus exclusively on you in a crowded place.
Smart Security Features
The Dell UltraSharp Webcam supports Windows Hello, allowing you to sign-in quickly and securely usual facial recognition.
It also has Dell ExpressSign-in capability built-in, allowing Dell PCs to detect your presence as you approach and automatically log you out when you step away, offering you an extra level of security.
Finally, it comes with a magnetic privacy cover that securely snaps onto the lens, or the back of the webcam.
Webcam Mounting Solutions
The Dell UltraSharp Webcam comes with two mounts in the box :
a magnetic mount
a tripod adaptor
The magnetic mount makes it easy to attach to the top of any desktop or laptop monitor, without obscuring the display.
And if you need to mount it on a tripod, simply slide the webcam off the magnetic mount and slide it into the tripod adaptor!

XPS 13 9300 Quick Start Guide + Safety and Regulatory Information
Dell XPS 13 (9300) : Hands-On Experience!
This Dell XPS 13 (9300) is an eminently thin and light laptop. It offers a 13.4-inch display in an 11-inch form factor that weighs only 1.27 kg, and is less than 15 mm thick.
It easily fits into the smallest laptop bag, and even a large handbag. And when you can fly again, you will love how it fits onto the airplane’s seat tray!
Once you try it out, you will find it hard to go back to regular laptops – you will find them heavy and unwieldy!

Dell XPS 13 (9300) : A Closer Look!
13.4-inch Display In 11-Inch Form Factor
This Dell XPS 13 (9300) model comes with a 4K UHD+ touch display, with a resolution of 3840 x 2400 pixel, a colour gamut of 90% DCI-P3 and DisplayHDR 400 certification.
The incredibly high resolution and wide colour gamut allow your high resolution photos and HDR content to really pop.
Dell also offers a Full HD+ display, with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and 100% sRGB colour gamut; in both touch and non-touch options.
All three display options are 25% brighter at 500 nits, and are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6 against scratches and impact.
Cameras + Security
The thin bezel at the top conceals two cameras – a regular 720p webcam, and an infra-red camera for facial recognition.
So you can either unlock the XPS 13 using the IR camera and Windows Hello, or the fingerprint sensor, which integrated into the power button.
While its 720p webcam may be rather low in resolution, it uses a new 4-element lens for sharper image quality. It also supports temporal noise reduction to improve video quality in low-light conditions.
We hope that Dell would look at upgrading it to a 1080p camera, with a physical or electronics privacy shutter.
Performance
Our Dell XPS 13 (9300) is powered by the Intel Core i7-1065G7 – a 4-core, 8-thread processor with 8 MB of cache and built-in Iris Plus Graphics.
You can opt for a Core i5-1035G1 or the Core i3-1005G1, both of which come with integrated UHD Graphics.
A redesigned cooler keeps things cool, using a single heat pipe and evaporator design with dual condensers and GORE thermal insulation. The hot air is exhausted through the hinge at the back.
It can get a little toasty from the hot exhaust when you use it on your lap, especially if you’re doing compute-intensive tasks like rendering videos.
It also comes with 16 GB of dual-channel LPDDR4X memory running at 3733 MHz. The memory is soldered onto the motherboard and cannot be upgraded.
Our unit came with a 1 TB SK hynix PC611 PCIe NVMe SSD, but you can opt for a smaller 512 GB SSD, or a larger 2 TB SSD.
Ports
Due to its ultra-slim profile – 14.8 mm at its thickest point, the XPS 13 has very limited ports.
On the left side, you will find a microSD card reader; as well as a single Thunderbolt 3 (USB Type C) port, which supports Power Delivery and DisplayPort output
On the right side, you will find a 3.5 mm microphone and headphone combo port, with a second Thunderbolt 3 (USB Type C) port, which also supports Power Delivery and DisplayPort output.
You can plug the USB Type C charging cable into either Thunderbolt 3 port. But unless you are using it on-the-go, you really only have one free port to use.
The good news is Dell actually bundles the XPS 13 (9300) with a free USB Type C to USB Type A dongle, so you can use your USB Type A drives and devices (including cables) with it.
Keyboard + Touchpad
The Dell XPS (9300) comes an edge-to-edge keyboard, and a 17% larger touchpad for maximum working comfort. The keyboard is backlit, and comes with larger key caps!
It definitely offers a far superior typing experience to the horrible butterfly switch keyboard used in Apple MacBook Pro laptops.
[twenty20 img1=”43631″ img2=”43632″ offset=”0.5″]
Connectivity
Our XPS 13 (9300) comes with the Killer AX1650 module, which offers Wi-Fi 6 connectivity with 2×2 antennas, and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity.
It is much too thin to support a LAN port, but you can add LAN connectivity using a USB-C dongle.
The two long stripes on both sides of the XPS 13 are not cooling vents, but ports for its 2.5 watt stereo speakers, which are tuned with Waves MaxxAudio Pro.
Its 3.5 mm microphone / headphone combo jack is also optimised with the 360-degree Waves NX 3D virtual surround sound with head tracking.
Finally, its dual microphone array is powered by Waves MaxxVoice Pro, which supports VOIP and is Cortana Farfield-capable.

Dell XPS 13 (9300) : Performance
Our Dell XPS 13 (9300) is powered by the 15-watt Intel Core i7-1065G7 (Ice Lake) with 4 cores and 8 threads, and Iris Plus Graphics with 64 Execution Units.
It comes with 8 MB of cache, and has a 1.3 GHz base frequency that ramps up to 3.5 GHz during intensive tasks.
Our review sample came with 16 GB LPDDR4X-3733 dual-channel memory, and a 1 TB SK hynix PC611 PCIe NVMe SSD.
Work Performance : PCMark 10
The Intel Core i7-1065G7 is a 25 watt processor that can be configured to run at a lower TDP of 15 watt – to improve battery life and reduce thermal output.
At the full 25 watt TDP, it should deliver PCMark 10 scores in excess of 4700. It is obvious now that Dell configured it for the cooler 15 watt TDP. This is why benchmarks are important.
The integrated Intel Iris Plus Graphics sounds powerful on paper – with 64 Execution Units – but it is only about as fast as the NVIDIA GeForce MX130 / GeForce 940MX.
So this is most definitely NOT a gaming laptop, although you should have no problem playing older games and games that are not 3D graphics-intensive like DOTA 2.
Battery Life : YouTube + Modern Office
The Dell XPS 13 (9300) comes with a 4-cell smart lithium-ion battery that is rated for 52 Whr.
Dell claims a battery life of up to 18 hours and 49 minutes with the Full HD+ display, and up to 12 hours and 13 minutes with the 4K UHD+ display.
In our general use, we have no problem working a full day on it without recharging, which makes it really convenient when travelling.
That said, we locked the brightness at 50% – higher than the average of 40% – to see how it performs in these worst-case scenarios :
YouTube Streaming
The Dell XPS 13 (9300) lasted 8 hours 15 minutes streaming YouTube videos in theatre mode using WiFi, before its battery dropped to 10%.
PCMark 10 : Modern Office
The Dell XPS 13 (9300) lasted 6 hours 36 minutes before it powered off while running the Modern Office benchmark.
Battery : Recharging Speed
Its 65 watt fast charger took about 52.5 minutes to hit the mid-point (55%), but 2 hours 23.5 minutes to fully recharge its battery from 10%.
Here are the times it takes to recharge from 10% :
15% – 5 minutes 57 seconds
20% – 11 minutes 53 seconds
25% – 17 minutes 45 seconds
30% – 23 minutes 22 seconds
35% – 29 minutes 25 seconds
40% – 35 minutes 8 seconds
45% – 41 minutes 22 seconds
50% – 46 minutes 56 seconds
55% – 52 minutes 39 seconds
60% – 58 minutes 27 seconds
65% – 64 minutes 13 seconds
70% – 70 minutes 15 seconds
75% – 76 minutes
80% – 81 minutes 58 seconds
85% – 89 minutes 41 seconds
90% – 100 minutes 50 seconds
95% – 118 minutes 45 seconds
100% – 143 minutes 20 seconds
This gives it a battery life : recharging time ratio of 3.45 : 1 for video streaming, and 2.76 : 1 for office work.
As a rule of thumb, you will need to recharge its battery about 22 minutes for every hour of battery life.
Dell XPS 13 (9300) : Verdict + Award
The Dell XPS 13 (9300) is a really great ultra-light laptop for people who are always on-the-go.
It packs serious processing power, memory and a huge SSD with the latest wireless connectivity built-in, in a very thin and light package.
It is less than 15 mm at its thickest point, and weighs less than 1.3 kg. But this is something you have to hold in your hand to actually get a feel of how much engineering went into the XPS 13.
Even the latest 13-inch Apple MacBook Pro, powered by the new Apple M1 SoC, is larger, thicker at 15.6 mm and weighs more at 1.4 kg!
The extremely thin profile offers some challenges to first time users – limited physical ports. Yet the XPS 13 (9300) managed to squeeze in an extra microSD card reader over the new 13-inch MacBook Pro (M1).
Even so, you will have to live with just two USB Type C ports – one of which is not available when you recharge its battery. Fortunately, the XPS 13 (9300) comes with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 wireless connectivity.
Thankfully, Dell threw in a free USB-C to USB-A dongle, so at least you have ready access to your USB Type A drives and devices out-of-the-box.
Security-conscious users will love the fingerprint sensor and IR camera, which allows for easy and secure logins. However, the webcam lacks a physical shutter, and the lid clearance is too tight to safely use a third-party shutter.
As far as battery life is concerned, the XPS 13 (9300) will last more than full day’s work without recharging. After a while, you will get used to leaving the office without the charger!
All-in-all, the Dell XPS 13 (9300) is an engineering marvel that must be experienced to truly understand. If you want the very best Windows 10 ultra-light laptop money can buy, this should be right at the top of the list.
That is why we wholeheartedly award it our Reviewer’s Choice Award!

It also boasts Dual LED technology to increase contrast based on backlight temperature for optimal colour tone.
No Gap Wall-Mount
Mounting on the wall using the Samsung No Gap Wall-Mount lets it look like a real work of art. And yet, it allows you to tilt it sideways, forwards or backwards.
One Invisible Connection
The Frame 2020 maintains its clean lines thanks to the One Invisible Connection, which eradicates the usual cable mess by using a single, thin almost invisible cable to connect to the One Connect Box.
Brightness + Motion Sensors
The Frame 2020 uses its brightness sensor to automatically optimise its brightness and colour tone for a natural look, irrespective of the lighting conditions.
Its motion sensor lets it detect your presence, to display artwork whenever you are in the room. And when you leave, it turns off to save electricity.
Adaptive Voice Amplifier (AVA)
The Frame 2020 monitors ambient noise levels in real-time to detect when they may interfere with your enjoyment.

Chroma Boost is an advanced HDR feature that goes beyond HDR, which involves taking and combining multiple photos with different exposures.
On top of increasing the photo’s dynamic range, it will also correct and boost colour, while keeping control of noise.
Turning On Chroma Boost
Chroma Boost is so important that Realme made it the second icon at the top of the Camera app.
To turn it on, just open the camera app, and tap on the second icon at the top.
The Chroma Boost Is ON message will appear, and the Chroma Boost icon will appear in colour.
Until you turn it off, every photo your Realme 3 / Realme 3 Pro takes from now on will use Chroma Boost.
Turning Off Chroma Boost
To turn it off, just open the camera app, and tap on the second icon at the top.
The Chroma Boost Is OFF message will appear, and the Chroma Boost icon will turn black and show grey mountains.
When To Use Chroma Boost
Chroma Boost takes a considerable amount of time to take and process each shot – about 3 to 5 seconds.
So it is best used for planned shots of subjects that are not moving much. In fact, that’s the reason why it is turned off by default.
For most candid shots, or occasions where you want to take multiple shots quickly, you will probably want to disable Chroma Boost.
In the next part, we will show you the kind of shots Chroma Boost can deliver with our showcase of the Realme 3 in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Chroma Boost Sample Of Pier 39
This is the famous dock at the end of Pier 39, home to a number of California sea lions. It’s dusk – a really tricky time where the light isn’t great, but it’s not quite the time for using the Nightscape mode.
Surprisingly, it turned out much brighter than in real life, without getting washed out. You can see the sea lions in the foreground, as well as the bright lights of downtown San Francisco at the back.
Chroma Boost Samples Of Lombard Street
No tourist worth his or her name will visit San Francisco without going to the winding Lombard Street, even though it is really NOT the most crooked street in San Francisco.
That title really belongs to Vermont Street, near South of Market, although Lombard Street is definitely more picturesque. Plus, the Powell-Hyde cable car stops at the top!
As it so happened, we were there when the Zoox team decided to test their autonomous vehicle going down Lombard Street!

Chroma Boost Samples Of Alcatraz Island
A short (but expensive) hop off San Francisco is the infamous Alcatraz Island.
It’s ironic how so many people are clamouring to get into Alcatraz when quite a few prisoners (and guards) lost their lives during several escape attempts…
One thing we like about Chroma Boost is how well it keeps control of the highlights, while lifting out details from the shadows.
This picture was taken in very bright sunlight. Yet you can see the blue sky, and even the clouds!
In this example, the former residential apartments are in the shadow, and would normally look dark. But the doors and windows are clearly visible.
It also work great indoors. Especially if you are taking shots of static objects.
Take a close look at this picture. Not only does it have great dynamic range, it managed to capture the bird flying and the Oakland Bay Bridge in the distance.
In fact, you can even see the sloping streets of San Francisco!
It was not easy to get this shot, but well worth the many tries!
The only problem with using Chroma Boost – it limits the number of photos you can take in a certain amount of time. Not very suitable if you are on a fast moving boat!
In this shot of the Alcatraz Cruises pier, with the Transamerica Pyramid and Coit Tower in the background, note the shadows which show the direction of the sun.
Even though it was very bright, and the shadows much darker in real life, Chroma Boost managed to bring the details out of the shadows. And yet, the sky remained blue and not overblown.

Chroma Boost Samples Of Downtown San Francisco
Residential buildings in San Francisco are generally not very unique or interesting architecturally. The slopes of San Francisco are what’s truly interesting and unique.
Only when you get to the San Francisco Chinatown do you see more interesting building designs…

Chroma Boost Samples Of The Golden Gate Bridge
No tourist to San Francisco will ever skip going to the Golden Gate Bridge.
Featured in countless movies, and even torn apart by the likes of Godzilla, a Kaiju, earthquakes, a tsunami and Magneto, it is the very symbol of San Francisco!
But instead of just heading to the Visitor Center, we trekked to Golden Gate Bridge from the south side on a cold misty morning.
Chroma Boost helped to bring out the colour of the foreground, but the north end of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin headlands remained enveloped in mist.
Here is a closer view of the Golden Gate Bridge from the Welcome Center. You can see the bridge trusses clearly detailed, even on its underside.
We then drove over the Golden Gate Bridge to the North Vista Point.
Right next to it is Horseshoe Bay, home to the US Coast Guard Golden Gate Station, and the Presidio Yacht Club.
You can even see Alcatraz Island in the background on the right, and Treasure Island on the far right.
[adrotate group=”1″]
Chroma Boost Samples Of Muir Woods
To the north of San Francisco is the Muir Woods National Monument. Home to giant California redwood trees (Sequoia sempervirens), it is a very beautiful and peaceful place.
Even though these redwoods grow very tall, lighting is not a severe problem for taking photos at the bottom of these giants.
However, if you are attempting to take pictures of them from the bottom up, sunlight could make it really difficult to get a well-exposed shot.
Try using Chroma Boost, or a similar HDR feature, to capture the sunlight shining through the treetops while capturing the intricate bark details that would normally be shrouded in the shadow.

Chroma Boost Samples Of Hollywood + Rodeo Drive
We only had a short stay in Los Angeles, so we hit the usual tourist spots in Hollywood and Rodeo Drive.
First up is the TCL Chinese Theatre, located oh the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Many still know it as Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.
As it so happened, they barricaded it for the premiere of Catch-22. But this made it a great opportunity to use Chroma Boost – there was no one running across to spoil the shot!
While famous for its luxury boutique stores, Rodeo Drive isn’t very picturesque.
Arguably, the most picturesque spot is this internal street of the Two Rodeo shopping mall, which I believe is known as Via Rodeo Drive?

Chroma Boost Samples Of The Griffith Observatory
Sitting on the top of Mount Hollywood is the Griffith Observatory. It’s an awesome spot to look out at downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood and the Pacific Ocean.
Unfortunately, it was a downcast day when we arrived. But Chroma Boost helped to boost exposure, and give the colours a little more pep.
View of downtown Los Angeles from the Griffith Observatory at 2X digital zoom with the Realme 3.
Despite the downcast skies, Chroma Boost brightened the sky and visibly increased the colour of the houses in the foreground.
It is actually possible to use Chroma Boost with moving indoor objects like this Foucault’s Pendulum. Look at the colour.
You just have to time it so that movement is minimal. In this case, it took us several tries to catch the pendulum at the end of the swing.

Chroma Boost Samples Of Santa Monica
What’s a trip to Los Angeles without a trip to the world famous Santa Monica Pier?
Over a hundred years old, it is a large, double-jointed pier that juts out of the end of Colorado Avenue into the Pacific Ocean.
It is more than just a pier, of course. It is home to Pacific Park, an amusement park, shops, pubs and restaurants.
Right at the very end is also a very popular angling spot.
Chroma Boost can really bring out the colours that are usually hidden in the shadows, like the pillars of the Santa Monica pier.
Despite being almost dusk, using Chroma Boost can increase the brightness of the scene.
Opened in 1996, Pacific Park is a 2-acre amusement park that is open to public on the Santa Monica Pier.
It was really getting pretty dark, so Chroma Boost came in handy in boosting the exposure of the scene, while keeping the colours looking pretty pep.
On the way back, we stopped by the Santa Monica 3rd Promenade, home of this Triceratops water fountain sculpture.
Despite the low light (it was dusk!), Chroma Boost helped to keep the Triceratops sculpture well-exposed, without overblowing the brightly-lit cafe in the background.
Any darker, we would definitely have to use the Nightscape mode!

The new Apple Pro Display XDR is the pinnacle of Apple display engineering. But before you splash out thousands of dollars for it, do you know which configuration you really need?
In this configuration guide, find out options you have and what you should choose for the ultimate Pro Display XDR monitor! We even created a special infographic to help you make that choice!
The Apple Pro Display XDR Monitor
The Apple Pro Display XDR is a new 6K IPS display that is designed to complement the new 2019 Mac Pro workstation.
It boasts a 32-inch panel with a 6K resolution of 6016 x 3384 pixels, and Extreme Dynamic Range (XDR) capability with 576 local dimming zones!
Of course, HDR monitors have been around for some time now, with 384-zone models being introduced last year.
On top of that, it delivers 1000 nits of sustained brightness, with a peak brightness of 1600 nits! It also boasts dual ambient light sensors, to ensure an accurate viewing experience in any ambient lighting condition. Kind of like BenQ’s Brightness Intelligence Plus technology…
Why You NEED The Apple Pro Display XDR Monitor!
The Apple Pro Display XDR is the ultimate display for hardcore Apple fans, and graphics professionals who believe it’s the Viagra they need to perform at their very best.
It is designed to do two things – give you an ultra-premium 6K display experience, and the Tim Cook-anointed right to thumb your nose at the 99.9% hoi polloi.
Because when you have the Apple Pro Display XDR, you know you have proven your worth.
You are the TOP 0.1%. You are the BEST graphics designer in the world. The ULTIMATE Apple fan.
Apple Pro Display XDR Configuration Options
Don’t bother explaining to the ignorant rabble (or your boss) why you NEED the Pro Display XDR. Focus on what options you should select.
Standard vs Nano-Texture Finish
Everyone knows that graphics designers lose their eyesight after years of peeking at pixels. Remember how many times you mistook the glare off your display as an actual light flare?
To avoid that kind of problem, you can now pay Apple $1000 to etch a nano-texture pattern on your Pro Display XDR!
Our Verdict : The standard finish is for cheap schlubs. Go Nano-Texture, or go home!
Pro Stand / VESA Mount / Handheld?
The Pro Stand ($999), of course! It does everything a good monitor stand has been capable of doing for the past several decades, but with the flair and price tag that only awesome graphics designers like you understand.
The VESA Mount Adapter ($199) lets you hook up the Pro Display XDR onto walls, multi-monitor stands, or if you are really cheap – onto a non-Apple monitor stand.
But if you employ slave labour, you can always go old-school and have your slave hold it (FREE!). Remember – the Pro Stand does not support Siri… YET, so the slave route is the only way to control your Pro Display XDR by voice commands.
The Apple Pro Mug XDR Infographic
To make the choices simpler to understand, we created this special infographic, which uses an Apple Pro Mug XDR analogy to translate all those technical gobbledygook into something professional graphics designers can understand at a glance.
If you walk around with a standard finish, everyone’s going to know you are just another 0.1% wannabe. SHOW the world you are part of the REAL 0.1% with that matte nano-texture finish!
The Pro Handle will let you take the Apple Pro Mug XDR to the limits. Fill it with super-hot coffee or liquid nitrogen – all without fear of injuring your hand!
And the Pro Handle has special magnetic connectors, so you can easily detach the Pro Mug XDR, to attach it to a separate Pro Handle! Now you can share your drink without sharing the same handle! How hygienic!
If you must opt for the Universal Sleeve, tell people you are not being cheap – you are just being environmentally-friendly. Cardboard is recyclable and the Universal Sleeve does not use rare earth magnets!

Realme smartphones are not known for the selfies, which is a shame. We took the Realme 3 on a trip across the US West Coast, and here is our Realme selfie guide and showcase!
Find out what settings you should use on Realme smartphones, and check out the selfies we took from the Grand Canyon to Las Vegas, San Francisco and Los Angeles!
The Realme 3 selfie camera has a higher-resolution 13 MP sensor with a brighter f/2.0 lens. The Realme 2, you may recall, has an 8 MP front camera with f/2.2 lens.
Its higher-end brother, the Realme 3 Pro, also has a front camera with a wide f/2.0 aperture. The only difference is it has a higher-resolution 25 MP sensor, instead of a 13 MP sensor.
The Realme Selfie Camera Guide
We highly recommend that you enable these settings before you start shooting – Location, Flip Selfie, and Auto HDR. These are the common settings you find in other Realme smartphones, like the Realme 2 Pro and the Realme 3 Pro.
Location
While travelling in the US, we do not always have time to note the exact location (building, street address, etc.) where we take these photos.
Enabling Location lets the Realme 3 add the GPS coordinates to every photo, so you can always look up the location when you get back.
Flip Selfie
We highly recommend turning on the Flip Selfie option, which basically gives you a mirror image of the selfie. This is important because it makes sure any text in the background will be readable.
This was not enabled by default, which led to some of our selfies not turning out right. Make sure you enable this option before you start taking your selfies!
Auto HDR
Selfies are often impromptu… spontaneous… There’s very little time to set-up a selfie, unless you’re an influencer and you would have a buddy or two, with LED lighting, etc (you get the idea).
This is why you should make sure Auto HDR is enabled. It lets the Realme 3 automatically decide when is the best time to take HDR shots (combining multiple shots with different exposures).
HDR will bring out the details in both dark and overexposed areas of a photo, while increasing the picture’s dynamic range. Take a look at this example :
Without Auto HDR, both faces in this selfie shot would be too dark because of the overly bright background.
It may not be obvious in the picture above, but it was CRAZY HOT and BRIGHT at the Grand Canyon when I took that photo in the shade. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it turned out!

Realme 3 Selfie Samples From Boulder City
After landing in Las Vegas, we headed straight for Boulder City, which is a small town about 30 minutes away.
You will pass it on the way to the Grand Canyon, or Hoover Dam. So it’s a great place to stop for the night, especially if you plan to visit Hoover Dam.
But first, we had some burger and chicken fingers at The Chicken Shack. The folks here are extremely friendly! 😄
Here is Nick with the Double Shack burger, with double beef patties and cheese. Only$9.79 before taxes, , with a side of fries and a drink!
And here are Steve and Justin with my order of chicken fingers! 😄
The chicken tenders here are large strips of chicken breast meat. I prefer dark meat, but they were juicy and tender. Only $7.99 for 5 of “em!
This is Allyson from the Boulder Pit Stop, serving our Pit Burger and Turkey Burger. Seriously great burgers even without adding cheese, bacon or mushrooms.
The Pit Burger with a 1/3 lb patty is only $5.75 before taxes, and the Turkey Burger only $4.50 before taxes. If you’re ever going to Boulder City, make sure you try them out!
Realme 3 Selfie Samples From Hoover Dam
The best view of Hoover Dam is actually midway across the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge.
Just turn off about a mile after the security check point, and walk up to the Memorial Plaza, which leads to the pedestrian walkway of the bridge.
There’s no need to walk all the way to the end. Just walk until you get a picture you like, or to the mid-point, so you can have one foot in Nevada, and another foot in Arizona! 😀
The lifts were undergoing maintenance so there were no tours that day. However, Hoover Dam tour guides like Alan gave us a presentation on the Hoover Dam instead.
You can feel the pride and love they have for this American engineering marvel!
Realme 3 Selfie Samples From The Grand Canyon
Being short on time, we took a short plane + helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon at a Boulder City airport.
Scott here took us on a short cruise down the Colorado river, through the Grand Canyon West Rim.
The bulk of the Grand Canyon West Rim (seen behind us) belongs to the US National Park, while the opposing side is part of the Hualapai Indian Reservation.
It was CRAZY HOT and really bright at the Grand Canyon that day, but thanks to its Auto HDR capability, this selfie taken at Guano Point turned out much better than I expected!
Since it was so bright, I expected harsh shadows on our faces, and a terribly blown-out background. Yet, the shadows were surprisingly soft, and you can clearly see the Grand Canyon in the back, and even the clouds and the blue sky!
Realme 3 Selfie Samples From Las Vegas
It’s been years since my last visit to Las Vegas, and while much has remained the same, a lot has changed!
Here is the venerable Las Vegas landmark – the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas signboard!
While it has not changed, it has been upgraded with a special parking lot built into the median, so tourists can park and not get hit by traffic on both sides of the Las Vegas Boulevard! 😅
I then spent three days at Dell Technologies World 2019, where I met really nice people like Stephanie Silva from McLaren…
And Ben Driscoll and Kendall Peters, who ran the always-busy Press and Analyst Room!
We also had the opportunity to meet and take selfies with the incredibly funny and entertaining Penn & Teller!
These guys are AWESOME! If you can only catch one magic show in Las Vegas, you MUST catch Penn & Teller.

Realme 3 Selfie Samples From San Francisco
After so many days in Sin City, we flew ourselves to San Francisco, and checked ourselves into the Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary!
Located just 1.25 miles or just over 2 km from the San Francisco, it served as a federal prison for 29 years. during which 36 prisoners tried to escape.
Ironically, hundreds of tourists now pay good money to visit Alcatraz every day! 😅
Welcoming us was Ray Hood, a volunteer with the US National Parks Service.
He commutes from Sacramento to help US Park Rangers like Wendy Solis here educate visitors on the rich history of Alcatraz, and to warn us about being “painted white” by the current avian occupants of Alcatraz…
Prison chow at Alcatraz did not agree with us, so we escaped on a boat and headed to the Fisherman’s Wharf, where Ernesto served us Boudin’s new crab chowder in a sourdough bowl!
I met Rodrigo “Roy” Gutierrez outside of Pier 33. He spray painted that piece for me in just 5 minutes! 🤩
Again, Auto HDR kicked in for a nicely exposed photo, even though it was a dastardly bright day.
While I was in San Francisco, I had my MacBook Pro checked out by Brennan Duong at Apple Store Union Square.
Finally, we had to stop by The Baked Bear for their humungous and really delicious ice-cream sandwiches! This is Sam with my 🐻tastic ice-cream sandwich!
That’s a 🐻 of an ice-cream sandwich! Not a 🐨 or a 🐼 but an actual 🐻… 😁
We originally planned to have one each, but it was so big – we had to share!
Realme 3 Selfie Samples From Los Angeles
We only had a short time in LA, but I had the opportunity to chat with Officer Raviol of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Joshua thinks he looks like Nicholas Cage. I think he looks like Arnold Vosloo. What do YOU think? 😁

While two other Dell S-Series monitors also support HDR, the Dell S2719DM (Malaysia | US | UK) is the only model to meet the minimum requirements for the VESA DisplayHDR 400 standard. We will tell you more on this later in the article.
Dell S2719DM Price + Availability
The Dell S2719DM is available with immediate effect with a recommended retail price of RM 1,889 / US$499.99. If you are in the US, it’s currently on offer :
The Dell S2719DM (Malaysia | US | UK) may be ultra-thin, but it comes in a large box that weighs just over 8 kg. Typical Dell packaging – designed to take the worst of abuse by delivery services.
Inside the large box, you will find the following items :
One Dell S2719DM monitor with stand
Dell S2719DM User Guide and Safety and Regulatory Information
One 45 W Dell compact power adaptor with power cable
One HDMI 2.0 cable (1.8 m)
Note that the HDMI 2.0 cable is no different from your usual HDMI cable, just certified to support 4K video at 60 Hz. You can also use regular HDMI 1.4 cables just fine. More on this later in the article!

The Dell S2719DM Up Close!
In this review, we prepared two different videos. Our traditional hands-on look, and a more stylised feature overview. Do let us know which is better by liking the video you prefer!
In this video, we give you a quick look of the key features of the Dell S2719DM (Malaysia | US | UK) monitor.
As you can see, the Dell S2719DM (Malaysia | US | UK) is a very stylish ultra-thin monitor. Every aspect – from the sleek silver back to the gracefully curved stand – was designed with aesthetics in mind. This is not a monitor to be hidden in the back room!
The Dell S2719DM Key Features
In this video, we highlight the key features of the Dell S2719DM (Malaysia | US | UK) monitor. Do let us know if you prefer this video, or the one above!
InfinitiEdge Display
Dell calls it an InfinitiEdge display. Its bezel is just 7.1 mm at the top and sides, and only 8.1 mm at the bottom.
Concealed into the lower right edge are Power and OSD (On-Screen Display) control buttons. From left to right, they are :
Preset Modes : Use this button to choose from a list of preset colour modes
Brightness / Contrast : Use this button to directly access the Brightness and Contrast bars.
Menu : Use this button to launch the On-Screen Display (OSD) and select the OSD menu
Exit : Use this button to go back to the OSD main menu, or to exit the OSD main menu.
Power : Use this button to turn the monitor On or Off.
The Power button also doubles as a power mode indicator. A white LED light indicates the monitor is turned On and fully functional. A glowing white LED light indicates the monitor is on the DPMS Power Save Mode.
[adrotate group=”1″]
HDMI 2.0 Connectivity
If you need a plethora of connectivity options, the Dell S2719DM (Malaysia | US | UK) is NOT the monitor for you. To maintain its elegant design, and to keep costs low, there are only four ports – all centrally aligned right behind the stand.
For display input, you have only two HDMI 2.0 ports, so you will need adaptors if you have devices with DisplayPort or DVI output. Above these two HDMI ports are a 3.5 mm audio output port, and below them – the power port.
A HDMI 2.0 cable is included in the package. It is certified to support the higher 18 Gbits/s bandwidth necessary to support 4K video at 60 Hz. However, older HDMI 1.4 cables will work just fine because the Dell S2719DM (Malaysia | US | UK) only delivers 2560 x 1440 pixels at 60 Hz.
You may see new 48G HDMI cables being introduced. Those are only required to support HDMI 2.1 features, like increased bandwidth to support 10K video at 120 Hz and dynamic HDR. This monitor does not support those features, so there is no need to invest in the new, expensive 48G HDMI cables.
Ultra-Thin Design
The Dell S2719DM (Malaysia | US | UK) was designed with aesthetics in mind. It has a very sleek design with ultra-thin edges that slope gently across the back. Even the stand uses the same elegant design language.
It thinnest at the sides – just 5.5 mm, and gently curves to 10 mm at the top midpoint, and 29 mm at the bottom. This clever design makes the S2719DM look exquisitely thin.
Fixed Hinged Stand
For what we believe are aesthetic reasons, the Dell S2719DM (Malaysia | US | UK) comes with a fixed hinged stand. If you are planning to mount your monitor on the wall, or a multi-monitor stand, you will have to consider another monitor.
The fixed hinged stand can tilt downwards by 5°, and upwards by 21°. However, it cannot swivel, and does not allow height adjustments. That’s the price you pay for such a slim and elegant curved stand.

Corning Iris Glass Light-Guide Plate
Edge-lit LED displays use a light-guide plate (LGP) to distribute light uniformly throughout the panel, Usually they are made up from pure PMMA resin, but such polymer LGPs can warp and expand with changes in heat and humidity. They therefore require a wider bezel, greater thickness and an air gap to account for movement and expansion.
To keep it thin and reduce the bezel size, the Dell S2719DM (Malaysia | US | UK) features the Corning Iris Glass Light-Guide Plate technology.
Because it’s made from glass, the Corning Iris Glass Light-Guide Plate is rigid. This removes the need for an air gap, and a thicker backlight, greatly reducing the thickness of the display. Its dimensional stability also ensures reliable transmission of light from the LED edge lighting.
Extra-Bright QHD Panel
The Dell S2719DM (Malaysia | US | UK) has a QHD panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 – a popular resolution for both gaming and work. That is nothing special, of course. What lifts it above the crowd though is its brighter panel.
Many monitors of its class have a typical brightness of 250 to 350 nits. The Dell S2719DM (Price Check) boasts a typical brightness of 400 nits, with a peak brightness of 600 nits.
The increased brightness is not only about a brighter panel. Higher brightness is a critical aspect of the monitor’s HDR performance.
DisplayHDR 400
Many HDR-ready monitors support the open HDR10 format, but this does not mean that they are necessarily “true” HDR monitors. This is where the VESA DisplayHDR program comes in. It is a set of standards that HDR monitors should comply with, so that consumers can be guaranteed of certain levels of HDR performance.
The Dell S2719DM (Malaysia | US | UK) is a VESA DisplayHDR 400-certified monitor, which means it has to meet or exceed these requirements :
Deliver true 8-bit image quality – on par with top 15% of PC displays today
Support global dimming for better dynamic contrast ratio
Have a peak luminance of 400 cd/m2 or better – up to 50% higher than typical SDR
Minimum requirements for color gamut and contrast exceed SDR (95% of sRGB)
The Dell S2719DM (Malaysia | US | UK) exceeds those requirements with a peak luminance of 600 cd/m2, and a colour gamut of over 99% sRGB. However, it does not support local dimming, and is thus considered to be an entry-level HDR monitor.
[adrotate group=”1″]
sRGB Colour Gamut
The Dell S2719DM (Malaysia | US | UK) supports a colour gamut of over over 99% sRGB, and 85% DCI-P3. What’s the difference between the sRGB and DCI-P3 colour spaces? Take a look.
Don’t get confused by the two numbers. What they basically mean is that the Dell S2719DM (Malaysia | US | UK) is essentially an sRGB monitor. It may offer an almost 100% sRGB coverage, which is better than many sRGB monitors, but you will need to look elsewhere if you need your monitor to support a wider colour gamut like Adobe RGB.
AMD FreeSync
Dell does not mention this, but the Dell S2719DM (Malaysia | US | UK) monitor supports AMD FreeSync. When used with AMD graphics cards and APUs, the monitor will dynamically adjust the refresh rate to prevent tearing and stuttering.
While the Dell S2719DM (Malaysia | US | UK) has a vertical scan range of 48 Hz to 75 Hz, it is limited to 60 Hz at its native 2560 x 1440 resolution. As long as the frame rate of your games are 48 fps or higher, FreeSync will ensure that they are tear-free.

Our Verdict
The Dell S2719DM (Malaysia | US | UK) is a work of art. It is not only incredibly thin, it is really sleek and sexy. Quite unlike the utilitarian design of the traditional Dell monitors. It was obviously designed to be proudly displayed in public, not hidden in an office.
In addition to its slim form factor, the S2719DM also has very thin bezels, qualifying it as an InfinityEdge display. This allows for a more immersive working or gaming experience, especially when you plan to use two or three of them together.
The Dell S2719DM has some gaming chops, even though it is not a gaming monitor. It supports AMD FreeSync, albeit with a maximum refresh rate of 60 Hz at its native resolution. It won’t match the high refresh rates and low response time of gaming monitors, but it will do just fine for gaming after a hard day’s work.
It is also a VESA DisplayHDR 400-certified monitor, although this is the most basic HDR certification. It lacks local dimming capability, which is necessary to deliver deeper blacks.
It is also important to point out that the Dell S2719DM (Malaysia | US | UK) has a typical brightness of 400 nits, with a peak brightness of 600 nits. This is much brighter than typical WQHD monitors, which is not only important for HDR, but also allows for better image quality in bright environments.
Its sleek design comes with some disadvantages though. The fixed hinged stand, which looks great, does not allow for changes in the display height. Heck, it doesn’t even swivel. All it can do is tilt downwards by 5°, and upwards by 21°. This is the price you have to pay for such a sleek design.
[adrotate group=”2″]
The other problem – its limited connectivity options. It only comes with two HDMI ports. While HDMI is, no doubt, common and supported by practically all computers and media players, a DisplayPort or a mini-DP port would have been most welcomed.
This is particularly important for those who intend to use two or more of these monitors – most graphics cards come with just one HDMI port, but two or more DisplayPorts. With only HDMI input, you will need a DP-to-HDMI converter for the second and third monitors.
But if you can live with these relatively minor disadvantages, you can literally have your cake and eat it too. The Dell S2719DM (Malaysia | US | UK) offers a great combination of features and capabilities in a beautiful package.
As such, we feel it deserves no less than our Reviewer’s Choice Award. Great job on the S2719DM!

On January 8, 2018 at CES 2018, NVIDIA introduced what they call the NVIDIA BFGD – the NVIDIA Big Format Gaming Display.
Created in conjunction with NVIDIA hardware partners Acer, ASUS and HP, the NVIDIA BFGD integrates a high-end 65-inch, 4K HDR 120 Hz display with NVIDIA G-SYNC technology together with NVIDIA SHIELD, to deliver a smooth gaming and streaming experience on a giant screen.
NVIDIA G-SYNC HDR adds HDR (High Dynamic Range) capability to G-SYNC, which is a variable refresh rate technology that delivers smooth, tear-free gaming experience, when used with an NVIDIA GeForce graphics card.
The NVIDIA G-SYNC HDR monitors will boast high refresh rates, higher brightness levels, greater contrast ratios, and a wider colour gamut. The NVIDIA BFGD will be no different, driving a 4K display at 120 Hz, and 1000 nits of brightness with DCI-P3 colour gamut.
Ultra-Low Latency Gaming
Nothing is more important to gamers than responsive gameplay. The NVIDIA BFGD will have ultra-low input latency, just like gaming monitors, for the most fluid and responsive big screen gaming experience.
Big Screen Streaming
[adrotate group=”2″]
The integration of the Android TV-based SHIELD into NVIDIA BFGD will allow gamers to easily switch between gaming and other forms of entertainment. The bundled SHIELD remote and game controller allow for easy navigation and access to all of the world’s biggest streaming apps, including Netflix, Amazon Video, YouTube, and Hulu.
With support for the Google Assistant, the entire experience can be controlled simply by using your voice. G-SYNC HDR technology also supports video playback at native framerates, including popular 23.976, 24 and 25 FPS formats. This matches the screen’s refresh rate to the video source’s actual frame rate, eliminating interpolation and presenting the video content as it was intended to be viewed by the director.
NVIDIA BFGD Up Close!
After the NVIDIA Computex 2018 GeForce briefing, we had the opportunity to take a close look at the NVIDIA BFGD monitor. This one appears to be an ASUS ROG model.

NVIDIA has been talking about the G-SYNC HDR technology for more than a year now. But now, they are finally ready to deliver the promise with actual G-SYNC HDR monitors! So here is a refresher’s course on NVIDIA G-SYNC HDR!
NVIDIA G-SYNC HDR Explained
NVIDIA G-SYNC HDR adds HDR (High Dynamic Range) capability to G-SYNC, which is a variable refresh rate technology that delivers smooth, tear-free gaming experience, when used with an NVIDIA GeForce graphics card.
Higher Brightness
NVIDIA G-SYNC HDR displays will have greatly increased brightness, with the ability to express deep saturated colours at a high brightness level. They will have the ability to produce at least 1000 nits of peak brightness, with support for the HDR10 format.
Greater Contrast
NVIDIA G-SYNC HDR displays will have a full array direct backlight, with at least 384 local dimming zones. This allows them to product contrast ratios of over 10,000:1. Traditional LCD panels with a global dimming backlight, in contrast, can only deliver contrast ratios of 1000:1 to 2000:1.
[adrotate group=”2″]
Wider Colour Gamut
The traditional sRGB colour space covers only about 35% of the colours the human eye can perceive. Hence, NVIDIA G-SYNC HDR displays will support the DCI-P3 colour space that offers 26% greater coverage of the visual spectrum than sRGB.
High Refresh Rate
NVIDIA G-SYNC HDR displays will support a high refresh rate using DisplayPort 1.4 with the High.Bit Rate 3 (HBR3) link. They will have the ability to display 4K at 144 Hz, instead of the usual 60 Hz for traditional 4K monitors.
The First G-SYNC HDR Displays
At the NVIDIA Computex 2018 press conference, and the follow-up GeForce tech briefing, NVIDIA showed off the first two G-SYNC HDR displays. They are both 27″ displays with what appears to be the same panel and key specifications. They both have a full array direct backlight, with 384 local dimming zones.
Acer Predator X27
The Acer Predator X27 (Price Check) is a 27″ 4K HDR display with a 144 Hz IPS panel, with a GTG (grey-to-grey) response time of 4 ms. It has a launch price of US$ 1,999.
ASUS ROG Swift PG27UQ
The ASUS ROG Swift PG27UQ is a very similar 27″ 4K HDR display with a 144 Hz IPS panel, with a GTG (grey-to-grey) response time of 4 ms. It has a 1000 nits peak brightness level, and a HDR contrast ratio of up to 50,000:1.

Right after the NVIDIA Computex 2018 press conference, they gave us a private briefing on the latest GeForce updates, as well as demos of real-time ray tracing with NVIDIA DGX Station, the NVIDIA Big Format Gaming Display (BFGD), and NVIDIA G-SYNC HDR.
Again, if you are looking for news on NVIDIA Turing, we will have to disappoint you. As NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang mentioned in his Q&A session, “it’s a long time from now” before Ampere is released. Still, there are a number of interesting GeForce-related technologies to check out…
NVIDIA Computex 2018 GeForce Updates
The session kicked off with a 34-minute long briefing on the latest GeForce updates.
Here’s a summary of the key points :
Since the latest Intel Coffee Lake mobile CPUs were introduced, there are now 85 new gaming laptops with GeForce GTX GPUs.
A year after NVIDIA Max-Q was introduced, there are now 25 laptop models built from ground-up with Max-Q design in mind.[adrotate group=”2″]
The Hunt Effect – increasing brightness increases the perceived colourfulness.
The Stevens Effect – increasing brightness increases apparent spatial resolution.
sRGB and DCI-P3 cannot display all of the colours in nature (represented by Pointer’s Gamut). Ultimately, the best possible colour gamut is Rec. 2020.
The first two NVIDIA G-SYNC HDR monitors are the Acer Predator X27 and the ASUS ROG SWIFT PG27UQ, and feature 4K HDR panels with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, that can be overclocked to 144 Hz.
Both G-SYNC HDR monitors have a panel with 384-zone full-array direct backlight capable of 1000 nits brightness, with a DCI-P3 colour gamut with Quantum Dots.
NVIDIA G-SYNC HDR Demo + Comparison
Here is a demo and comparison of the Acer Predator X27 G-SYNC HDR monitor, with a “regular” Acer Predator XP1 G-SYNC monitor.
Real-Time Ray Tracing On NVIDIA DGX Station
NVIDIA also showed off real-time ray tracing on an NVIDIA DGX Station.
The NVIDIA BFGD (Big Format Gaming Display)
We also had the opportunity to check out the 65″ NVIDIA Big Format Gaming Display, which also features G-SYNC HDR.
