Entire Half-Life Series : FREE To Play Until Alyx Launch!

In the ramp up to the launch of Half-Life : Alyx in March 2020, Steam is making all of the Half-Life games FREE to play… until the day Alyx launches.

Half-Life : Alyx is set before the events of Half-Life 2 and the episodes, but the games share characters and story elements.

The Half-Life : Alyx team believes that the best way to enjoy Alyx will be to play through the old games, especially Half-Life 2 and the two episodes… before you start on Alyx in March.

Half-Life : Alyx

Set for launch this March 2020, Half-Life : Alyx is a VR-based first-person shooter that takes place before the return of Gordon Freeman in Half-Life 2.

You will control Gordon’s ally, Alyx Vance, as she fights the Combine (the alien empire that conquered Earth) with her father, Eli.

It’s built entirely for virtual reality gameplay – there will be no non-VR version – and it will support all PC-compatible VR headsets, including Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest and Windows Mixed Reality.

Valve evidently believes Half-Life : Alyx will push gamers over the tipping point of VR gaming. We will see if that happens…
