Fact Check : Buka Puasa Picnic Allowed In Putrajaya?

A picture of people gathering for a Buka Puasa (Iftar) picnic in Putrajaya is going viral.

Find out what’s going on, and what the FACTS really are!

Claim : Buka Puasa Picnic Allowed In Putrajaya?

A picture showing crowds of people gathering for a Buka Puasa (Iftar) picnic in Putrajaya is going viral, with this warning message :

Buka puasa picnics allowed. This was in putrajaya which has more cases than Selangor

BTW Covid cases today over 2000

Buka Puasa Picnic Allowed In Putrajaya? The Facts!

Netizens are justly angry with the picture, partly because of the crowd size, and partly because no one appears to be wearing face masks.

However, the truth is not quite what it seems… here are the FACTS :

Fact #1 : The Picture Was From 2019

That viral picture of people having their Buka Puasa picnic is genuine, and was taken at the Laman Iftar in Putrajaya.

However, this picture was taken two years ago – in 2019, not 2021. Obviously, at that time, COVID-19 did not exist and so, there was no need for face masks or physical distancing.

It was posted on 14 April 2021 by Perbadanan Putrajaya, but they specifically pointed out it was taken in 2019.

Fact #2 : Buka Puasa Picnics Are Allowed

Buka Puasa events, including buffet and gatherings are allow.

On 14 April 2021, the Malaysia National Security Council released the SOP for such Buka Puasa activities.

Putrajaya is in an RMCO area, and so Buka Puasa / Iftar activities are allowed at full capacity, subject to other SOP conditions.

Whether such a decision is wise during the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic – that’s another issue altogether.

Fact #3 : There Are SOPs To Adhere To

To allay fears that allowing Buka Puasa activities while the COVID-19 pandemic is raging, the government insisted on SOPs being followed.

The Perbadanan Putrajaya post with this viral picture actually listed those conditions for those who wanted to do it at the park :

  1. Wear a face mask
  2. Maintain cleanliness
  3. Scan the MySejahtera QR code
  4. Take your body temperature before entering
  5. Maintain physical distance
  6. Bring your own picnic mat
  7. There must be 2 metres between picnic mats

While Perbadanan Putrajaya did not share pictures of the actual picnic, the pictures they shared showed orange physical distancing markers and people wearing face masks.

Fact #4 : Selangor Has More Cases Than Putrajaya

The claim that Putrajaya has more COVID-19 cases than Selangor is outright false.

As of 14 April 2021, Putrajaya only recorded a total of 1,254 cases, while Selangor had 97X more – 121,358 cases!

The Shyama Nair Petition To Stop Sinovac Vaccine Use

A petition by Shyama Nair to stop Sinovac vaccine use for senior citizens in Malaysia is being shared on WhatsApp and Facebook.

Let’s take a look at the claims she made, and find out what the FACTS really are!

The Shyama Nair Petition To Stop Sinovac Vaccine Use

Someone called Shyama Nair started a petition called “Stopping the sinovac [sic] vaccines for senior citizens in Malaysia“.

She apparently started this petition after the National Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said that the Sinovac vaccine would also be given to senior citizens.

The petition, which is being shared on Facebook and WhatsApp, comes with this description :

China has just told the world that their Sinovac Vaccine is not effective with less than 50% efficacy. Yet the Government wants to give this to those above 60 years of age, the group that is most vulnerable to a fatal outcome of the Covid 19 virus. The Government is treating senior citizens like thrash after they have availed themselves to the Pfizer vaccine. This is bad and a poor reflection of how this Government views the senior citizens who have given their all to this country and hoping to live out the rest of the days peacefully. The sinovac vaccine will give senior citizens a false sense of security and when it fails as it has been proven to fail, we will not just die, but we will suffer and die. The way the government is treating this group of the population is as if we no longer matter, and that we are a disposable part of society, and dispensable. There are so many vaccines out there. Why are we so desperate to use the discards from China. It is so frustrating that we are put in such a situation that we can’t even chose. We are made into beggars accepting the scraps of dried bread and rotting fish thrown to us. It’s deplorable that, in other countries they are safeguarding their senior citizens and here in Malaysia we are not treated as warga Mas but besi karat.

Shyama Nair Petition To Stop Sinovac Vaccine Use : The Facts

While we understand where Shyama Nair is coming from, her petition is based on misinformation and misunderstanding of vaccine efficacy.

Here are the FACTS that everyone should understand about her claims, before they sign the petition, or worse – refuse their vaccinations.

Fact #1 : Sinovac Vaccine Efficacy Is Just Over 50%

While Shyama Nair claims that the Sinovac vaccine has less than 50% efficacy, that’s just not true.

As we explained in our Sinovac vaccine FAQ, its efficacy is a subject of some controversy.

But just before China approved this vaccine for general use, Sinovac announced their Phase 3 results  :

  • Brazil Trial : 50.65% efficacy
  • Turkey Trial : 91.25% efficacy

Even in the worst case scenario, the Sinovac CoronaVac vaccine has an efficacy of just over 50%.

That puts it over the line WHO recommends for COVID-19 vaccine approval.

Fact #2 : China Never Said Sinovac Vaccine Not Effective

China never said that the Sinovac vaccine is not effective.

It is likely Shyama Nair was referring to the Gao Fu, the Chinese CDC director, who said that the protection offered by current Chinese vaccines are “not high“.

Stating the Chinese vaccines do not offer high protection is quite different from saying that they are not effective.

As we noted in our fact check, Chinese vaccines are mostly comparable in efficacy with Western vaccines of the same technology.

COVID-19 Vaccine Efficacy
Pfizer Comirnaty 95.0%
Moderna mRNA-1273 94.1%
Gamaleya Sputnik V 91.6%
Sinopharm BBIBP-CorV 79% ~ 86%
AstraZeneca AZD1222 76% ~ 85%
Novavax Covovax 60 ~ 89%
J&J Janssen COVID-19 66.0%
CanSino Convidecia 65.7%
Sinovac CoronaVac 50.65%

Fact #3 : Early Vaccination More Important Than Vaccine Efficacy

After frontline medical workers, senior citizens are at the greatest risk of complications and death if they get infected with COVID-19. On that count, Shyama Nair is correct.

While it would be ideal for them to receive the most efficacious vaccine, that is really far, FAR LESS important than getting vaccinated as soon as possible.

Instead of worrying about efficacy (which most people don’t even understand!), focus on the fact that ALL approved COVID-19 vaccines prevent severe disease and death!

As we explained in our guide on which COVID-19 vaccine to choose, early protection is far more important than vaccine efficacy.

More importantly, even the “lousiest” Chinese vaccine will greatly protect them against severe disease (requiring hospitalisation), and prevent them from dying!

Recommended : Which COVID-19 Vaccine Should YOU Choose?

COVID-19 Vaccine Protection Against
Symptomatic
Infection
Severe
Disease
Death
Pfizer Comirnaty 95.0% 100% 100%
Moderna mRNA-1273 94.1% 100% 100%
Gamaleya Sputnik V 91.6% 100% 100%
AstraZeneca AZD1222 76% ~ 85% 100% 100%
Novavax Covovax 60 ~ 89% 100% 100%
CanSino Convidecia 65.7% 90.98% 100%
Sinopharm BBIBP-CorV 79% ~ 86% 90% 100%
J&J Janssen COVID-19 66.0% 85% 100%
Sinovac CoronaVac 50.65% 83.7% 100%

Fact #4 : Vaccine Supply Is Limited

When both the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines proved to be highly efficacious in December 2020, we already pointed out that they cannot possibly supply more than a fraction of the world!

By squeezing a 6th dose out of their 5-dose vials, and massively ramping up their production, Pfizer said in January 2021 that they can potentially deliver up to 2 billion doses by the end of the year.

Moderna, on the other hand, is aiming to deliver up to 1 billion doses in 2021, after their own massive ramp-up.

Even if they can achieve their targets, that’s just 3 billion doses to vaccinate 1.5 billion people in 2021, and that’s assuming zero wastage. At best, they will cover just under 19% of the world’s population of 7.9 billion!

So it would be impractical to rely on mRNA vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna to vaccinate the world. Do we really want to wait 5 years to achieve herd immunity?

Do Not Let Perfect Be The Enemy Of Good

Here is my advice to Shyama Nair and all those who think like her – do not let perfect be the enemy of good.

Instead of scaring our senior citizens into waiting for the COVID-19 vaccine they prefer, we should be encouraging them to get the first vaccine offered to them.

Vaccines are like body armour. It doesn’t make sense to reject wearing Chinese body armour while under enemy fire, and risk your life waiting for German body armour that you prefer.

Here is our advice to EVERYONE – get vaccinated ASAP with the first COVID-19 vaccine you can get.

DO NOT WAIT for “something better”. You may get infected before you get that vaccine!

China’s Guidelines For Sinovac Vaccine : The Facts!

We checked out the claims, and here is the sweet and short verdict – this is yet another piece of FAKE NEWS.

For those who want to understand more, here are the FACTS :

Fact #1 : Beijing Vaccine Prevention Center Does Not Exist

The Chinese term actually translates to Beijing Epidemic Prevention Center, which makes far more sense than a Vaccine Prevention Center.

But either way – there is no such institution called the Beijing Vaccine Prevention Center or the Beijing Epidemic Prevention Center (北京市防疫中心).

The closest candidate is the Beijing Center of Vaccine Clinical Evaluation (北京疫苗临床评价中心).

Fact #2 : Vaccine Guidelines Were Issued By China’s National Health Commission

On 29 March 2021, China’s health authorities issued their first official COVID-19 vaccination guidelines.

But they were not issued by some Beijing institute, but China’s National Health Commission.

Fact #3 : The Real Vaccine Guidelines Contradicts Fake List

Here is a summary of the key vaccine guidelines issued by the National Health Commission.

  • The four conditionally approved vaccines are safe for senior citizens aged 60 and above
  • Senior citizens aged 60 and above should get vaccinated
  • Booster shots are not recommended at this stage.
  • It is not recommended for those under the age of 18 to get vaccinated for now.
  • Vaccination should be completed using the same vaccine, and not mixed.
  • Under special circumstances, people can use a mix of vaccines to complete their vaccination.

They completely contradict the fake list that is circulating on WhatsApp and Facebook.

Fact #4 : Hong Kong Guidelines Contradict Fake List

The Hong Kong government noted in their 19 February 2021 interim recommendations on the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine that the only risk to look out for is an allergic reaction.

Allergic reactions may occur after administration of CoronaVac. Recipients of CoronaVac should be kept for observation and monitored for a minimum of 30 minutes. Persons with a history of allergies should consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice before you receive this vaccine. A second dose of the vaccine should not be given to those who have experienced an allergic reaction to the first dose of CoronaVac.

Fact #5 : Official Sinovac Guidelines Contradict Fake List

The Hong Kong government also provided the Sinovac CoronaVac vaccine’s package insert, whose list of contraindications contradict the fake list above :

  • People with history of allergic reaction to CoronaVac or other inactivated vaccine, or any component of CoronaVac (active or inactive ingredients, or any material used in the process).
  • Previous severe allergic reactions to the vaccine (e.g. acute anaphylaxis, angioedema, dyspnea, etc.)
  • People with severe neurological conditions (e.g. transverse myelitis, Guillain-Barre syndrome, demyelinating diseases, etc.)
  • Patients with uncontrolled severe chronic diseases;
  • Pregnant and lactating women.

It also lists conditions in which the vaccine should be administered with caution :

  • People aged 60 years and above (which China’s National Health Commission just approved – see Fact #3)
  • People with acute diseases, acute exacerbation of chronic diseases, severe chronic diseases, atopy and fever.
  • People with diabetes, history of convulsions, epilepsy, encephalopathy or mental illness, or with family history of such diseases.
  • People with thrombocytopenia or hemorrhagic diseases – the injection may cause bleeding.
  • People with impaired immune function, such as malignant tumour, nephrotic syndrome, AIDS.
  • People who require human immunoglobulin injection – there should be at least one month interval before vaccine administration.

China Used Hot Drinks + Steam To Kill COVID-19?

The Sun FM video on how China used hot drinks and steam to kill COVID-19 keeps getting shared on WhatsApp.

Find out why it’s so popular, and what the FACTS really are!

Sun FM : China Used Hot Drinks + Steam To Kill COVID-19!

In an effort to leverage off the “hot topic” of COVID-19 in the early days, Sun FM – an Indian radio station that is related to Sun TV – created and released a video that went viral.

The video went viral on Facebook and WhatsApp, because Sun FM made a lot of incredible claims :

  1. No one dies of COVID-19 in China
  2. The Chinese don’t seek medical attention even if they get COVID-19
  3. The Chinese controlled COVID-19 by :
    a) drinking hot water 6 times a day
    b) drinking hot milk + tea 4 times a day
    c) inhaling steam as often as possible
  4. By consuming hot drinks and inhaling steam for 4 days, they are cured of COVID-19 on the 5th day.
  5. The PCR test will turn up negative.
  6. Medicine cannot totally cure COVID-19, but the heat can.

They then end the video, asking people to share the video, and telling them “Our interest is your safety”.

China Used Hot Drinks + Steam To Kill COVID-19? BULLSHIT!

When we first saw Sun FM release this video in mid-2020, it was obvious they were just making it up. The whole video was utter BULLSHIT.

Nothing in it is remotely true. And they had the gall to claim that their interest is your safety. BULLSHIT!

Fact #1 : Many People Died Of COVID-19 In China!

As of January 2021, China reported 90,329 cases of COVID-19, of which 4,636 people died.

That is a very high mortality rate of 5.13%! Basically – 1 out of every 20 COVID-19 patients in China died.

Fact #2 : Chinese Hospitals Were Full!

COVID-19 spread so rapidly in China that their hospitals quickly filled up. Pictures and video showed people crowding hospitals, desperate to find help.

China quickly built two makeshift hospitals – Leishenshan (Thunder God Mountain) and Huoshenshan (Fire God Mountain).

So urgent was their need that they built the Huoshenshan Hospital in just 10 days!

Fact #3 : Hot Drinks Won’t Prevent COVID-19

The SARS-CoV-2 virus is a respiratory virus, which means it primarily infects you through your respiratory system, and to a lesser extent – through your eyes.

Therefore, drinking hot water and drinks, even coffee or tea, have absolutely NO EFFECT on the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Fact #4 : SARS-CoV-2 Does Not Hang Around For 4 Days

After you inhale the SARS-CoV-2 virus, it will IMMEDIATELY infect and hijack your cells to replicate.

It takes a few days before it infects enough cells, and your body recognises and reacts to the threat, for symptoms to show.

But that doesn’t mean they are on a holiday in your nose, giving you four days to kill them with steam, before finally infecting you!

Fact #5 : Inhaling Steam Is Dangerous + Won’t Kill Virus

Inhaling steam will NOT weaken or kill any virus in your nose. Inhaling hot steam at 60°C to 70°C can cause burn damage to your nose.

In fact, Dr. Satyanarayana Mysore, the HOD of Pulmonology at Manipal Hospitals reported seeing many cases of scalded airways and worsening asthma due to steam inhalation in March, April and May 2020.

Recommended : Can Inhaling Steam + Supplements Prevent COVID-19?

Fact #6 : China Never Used Steaming To Cure COVID-19!

China succeeded in clamping down on the COVID-19 pandemic, by

Not once did the Chinese ever recommend, or even practiced, the use of steam inhalation to treat COVID-19.

Fact #7 : There Are Now Vaccines!

We have to point this out, because this viral message is still spreading, and people actually believe Sun FM’s fake video.

Multiple COVID-19 vaccines have now been approved, and administered worldwide. So make sure you get vaccinated against COVID-19 ASAP!

After DON DON DONKI – Japan’s biggest discount chain store – opened their first store in Malaysia, people have gone ga-ga, and scammers have taken notice.

They quickly created a fake DON DON DONKI giveaway, and many people have been sharing it on WhatsApp and Facebook.

Clicking on it leads you to a fake DON DON DONKI Brand Awareness Survey.

To the uninitiated, it may appear genuine. It has a Google domain, and there is a 100% Guarantee stamp, after all. So how can this be a scam?

Consider for a second the many genuine surveys you have done in the past. Have you ever seen a survey with just TWO questions?

This fake DON DON DONKI survey is intentionally short because the scammer doesn’t want people to quit on seeing a long survey.

In a genuine survey, you would be asked to key in your details for DON DON DONKI management to contact you.

Instead, after you submit, you are taken to what appears to be a Don Don Donki page, asking if you are a member.

This is a FAKE Don Don Donki page. You have been redirected to www.promohebat-my-76.com/cgi-bin/wingame.pl, with the string partner_pk=355.

Whether you choose Yes or No, you will be taken to the same page which is made to look as if you are registering for the voucher.

The truth is you are being tricked into agreeing to share your information with AP Marketing Asia Pacific Limited – a Hong Kong company that collects data to sell, or to push promotions for their clients.

If you key in your details, then you are agreeing to let them sell your email address and contact information to third-parties, as well as accept promotional offers from their clients.

In the next page, they will ask you for your mobile number, and your date of birth. This exposes you to scammers who can use this information for phishing attacks against you or your bank.

In subsequent pages, you are asked to participate in surveys for their clients like Etiqa, and then asked to participate in even more surveys and games.

Ultimately, this is nothing more than a scam to get you to participate in AP Marketing Asia Pacific Limited‘s marketing games and surveys.

Did This Doctor Die From Painkiller After COVID Vaccination?

Did this doctor die from the painkiller, Diclofenac, after getting her COVID-19 vaccination?

Find out what happened, and what the FACTS really are!

Claim : This Doctor Died From Painkiller After COVID-19 Vaccination!

This is the message that has gone viral on WhatsApp recently :

Dr. Hariharini Md died because she was injected Diclofenac by her husband Doctor after Covid Vaccination, so pain killers should not taken after Covid Vaccination. Valuable information

Heartbreaking news!

This young doctor Hariharini sadly passed away today following developing severe anaphylaxis to Ini. Diclofenac which was given to her by her husband at home for myalgia following Covid vaccination.

She died at Meenakshi Mission Hospital, Madurai after a brief battle in ICU.

She was doing MD Anaesthesia at Madurai Medical College and was married 4 months ago. Her husband is doing MS Gen Surg at Madurai Medical College.

She belongs to the 2012 Batch from Thanjavur Medical College.

Any type of painkiller especially diclofenac sodium in tablet or injectable form is NOT AT ALL Advisable after getting vaccinated.

The fever or body pain or pain at site of vaccine is common and a body response to the vaccine.

Kindly share with all those who have taken the vaccine or going to take.

The Doctor Died From Painkiller After COVID-19 Vaccination, But…

Dr. Hari Harini did indeed die after being injected with the painkiller Diclofenac, after she was vaccinated against COVID-19.

However, her death had nothing to do with the COVID-19 vaccine at all. Here are the facts of her tragic death…

Fact #1 : She Was Vaccinated A Month Earlier

Dr. Hari Harini received her first dose of the Covishield* vaccine on 5 February 2021.

Her husband only injected her with Diclofenac on 5 March 2021a month later, when she complained of a fever and body pain.

* Covishield is the brand name of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured by the Serum Institute of India.

Fact #2 : Fever + Muscle Pain From Vaccine Only Last A Few Days

Fever and muscle pain are your body’s natural initial response to vaccines, and they last only a few days. Generally just a day or two.

Therefore, the fever and muscle pain Dr. Hariharini experienced a month later, had nothing to do with the vaccine.

Fact #3 : She Fell Unconscious Within Hours Of Diclofenac Injection

Dr. Harini started vomiting and fell unconscious within hours of her husband injecting her with Diclofenac.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention, and then to a tertiary care hospital, before being brought to the Meenakshi Mission Hospital.

According to Dr. Kannan – the Medical Administrator of Meenakshi Mission Hospital, when she arrived, she was hypoxic, with a Glasgow Coma Score of 3 – the lowest possible score.

They could not revive her, and she passed away on 11 March 2021, after being on the ventilator for 4-5 days.

Fact #4 : Diclofenac Can Cause Severe Anaphylaxis

Diclofenac – a Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) – can cause severe anaphylactic reactions when injected, infused, or taken orally.

This side effect is rare, but can quickly turn deadly, especially if it was injected intramuscularly or intravenously infused.

The anaphylactic shock, when it happens, can be counteracted with an intramuscular injection of adrenaline.

Fact #5 : Her Autopsy Confirmed The Anaphylactic Shock

An autopsy was performed on Dr. Hari Harini and the provisional diagnosis was “hypoxic ischaemic encephalopathy due to anaphylactic shock“.

In other words, she suffered from brain damage from a lack of oxygen supply caused by a severe allergic reaction.

Fact #6 : Painkillers Could Dampen Vaccine Efficacy

Vaccines work by tricking your body into thinking that there is a real infection, triggering an immune response that cause “side effects” like injection site pain, fever and muscle aches.

These side effects are really your body’s natural immune response to any infection, and are therefore welcome signs that the vaccines are doing their jobs.

Research have shown that certain painkillers may dampen the body’s response to vaccines. One study even showed that NDAIDs reduce the body’s cytokine and antibody response to an actual COVID-19 infection.

That is likely why the US CDC recently updated its guidance on March 16, 2021, to :

  • avoid taking painkillers BEFORE getting vaccinated against COVID-19
  • treat post-vaccination fever by drinking plenty of fluids and dressing lightly
  • treat pain and discomfort with a cool and wet washcloth, and using or exercising the arm
  • take over-the-counter painkillers after COVID-19 vaccination, with your doctor’s advice

Unless you really need to, try to avoid taking any painkiller for the fever or muscle ache.

Fact Check : Doctor’s Diary On Covaxin Side Effects?

Is an Indian doctor’s diary and advice on the side effects of the Covaxin vaccine genuine?

Take a look at the viral post on Covaxin side effects, and what the FACTS really are!

Doctor’s Diary On Covaxin Side Effects : A Viral Sensation

An Indian doctor’s diary on the Covaxin vaccine’s side effects, and his advice on how to deal with them, has gone viral on social media…

What’s amazing is that it’s gone viral even in countries where the Covaxin vaccine, is not, and will likely never be available!

A doctor’s report from his diary on his own health after receiving Covaxin vaccination

(Save for your reference till vaccination is done)

Diary for 2 days

I got my self vaccinated today (25/01/2021) at 11:25 am, on the left upper side of the arm. I had no side effects till 10:30 pm.

I had my dinner at 8:00 pm and I was all fine till 10:30 pm with no side effects, I went to bed around the same time. At 11:30 pm, while I was still lying in the bed, pain started at the vaccination site, which wasn’t before. I had a slight chill and my temperature started rising, at 12:30 am. I measured my temperature and I was having 99.4*F. As expected, along with the temperature started the rest of the side effects. I had bodyache, warmness in my eyes, neck pain. Pain at the vaccination site became worse and I also had slight choking in my throat.

Throughout the night I was restless, could not sleep much, my temperature at 2:00 am was 100.4*F. I kept myself observing closely.

I was happy though, as all these side effects indicated that the vaccination was successful and my body is giving robust response.

26/01/2021

I slept around 4:00 am got up at 6:00 am, feeling drained, my temperature was again 100.4*F at 6:30 am. Throughout the day I had fever ranging between (99.7*F-100.2*F) body ache, pain at vaccination site, sore throat, mild cold. In the evening, around 6:30 pm, my temperature was 99.3*F, pain slightly reduced at the vaccination site, some relief was also observed in my sore throat.

I had my dinner at 8:30 pm and went to bed at 10:30 pm, before bedtime my temperature was 99.2*F.

27/01/2021

I woke up at 6:00 am, feeling quite well, body temperature was 98.7*F, pain at vaccination site grossly reduced, pain only felt when I press my vaccination site with my hands, sore throat, neck pain gone.

All these side effects were like having mini-Covid symptoms.

Importantly, the whole batch of the doctors who got vaccinated the same day kept on sharing their side effects within our group and about 80-90% of us had common side effects as mentioned above.

The other symptoms which my colleagues had.

1. Dizziness, at the time of administering the vaccination and afterwards as well.

2. Rise in blood pressure.

3. Nausea.

I am sharing with you the first-hand experience which we doctors had at the time and after vaccination. You all will be experiencing the same, whenever you get vaccinated, so do not get anxious, as you all now, know the side effects.

Fact Check Of Doctor’s Diary On Covaxin Side Effects

There’s no way to tell if the viral diary was actually written by a doctor, since it’s unsigned and not attributed to anyone. So we cannot verify his/her account.

However, we can fact-check a few interesting points, claims and advice in that viral account. Let’s see what the FACTS really are…

Fact #1 : India Uses The Metric System

Interestingly, the writer recorded his/her body temperature in Fahrenheit, instead of Celsius.

Like the vast majority of the world, India uses the metric system, and an actual Indian doctor would use Celsius.

Fahrenheit is only used in the United States, Belize, Palau, the Bahamas and the Cayman Islands – none of which has the Covaxin vaccine.

Fact #2 : The Writer Use Terms Doctors Generally Won’t

Generally, doctors will not use terms like vaccination site, temperature started rising, warmness in eyes, rise in blood pressure, or mini-Covid symptoms.

The proper terms, which normal people would have understood, would have been injection site, fever, hypertension or increased blood pressure, or COVID-like symptoms.

Fact #3 : How High Was Their Blood Pressure?

The writer claimed that his/her medical colleagues reported “rise in blood pressure”, without stating how much higher.

This is important, because a significant increase in blood pressure is defined as an increase in systolic blood pressure of greater than 20 mm Hg, or an increase in diastolic blood pressure of greater than 10 mm Hg.

If the writer is an actual doctor, and his colleagues only reported slightly elevated blood pressure, he/she should have written it off as irrelevant, or normal physiological variances.

Blood pressure can also temporarily increase for all sorts of perfectly normal reasons – smoking, caffeinated drinks, anxiety, or even mild exertion before the reading was taken.

A single elevated BP reading is not indicative of the blood pressure actually being high. In fact, blood pressure readings are only accurate if you follow these rules :

  • you did not drink a caffeinated beverage or smoke in the last 30 minutes.
  • you did not rest (sit quietly) for at least 5 minutes
  • you are seated with your arm rested, so that your elbow is about heart level
  • you did not talk during the measurement
  • there is a difference of less than 5 mm Hg between two readings taken consecutively.

Fact #4 : Dizziness During Injection

Dizziness during injection is not a side effect of the Covaxin vaccine, because it’s in the process of being injected into the body, and thus have no effect yet.

It is actually a symptom of vasovagal syncope – the same physiological response that caused Tiffany Dover to faint on TV after receiving an injection of the Pfizer BNT162b2 vaccine.

People with vasovagal syncope will feel dizzy or faint when exposed to certain triggers like pain, emotional stress, fear of needles or even just the sight of blood.

So it is not surprising if some people feel dizzy or faint after getting an injection, whether it’s of a COVID-19 vaccine or a placebo.

Fact #5 : Some Side Effects Are A Good Sign

The known Covaxin vaccine side effects include :

  • injection site pain, swelling, redness, itching
  • stiffness and weakness of the injection arm
  • body ache, headache
  • fever, malaise, weakness
  • rashes, nausea, vomiting

While side effects like allergic reaction, rashes and vomiting are obviously not good, other side effects are a good sign.

Vaccine “side effects” like fever and muscle ache are actually a sign that the vaccine is working, and your body’s immune system is kicking into action.

Remember – COVID-19 vaccines like Covaxin basically use the inactivated SARS-CoV-2 virus or its spike protein to train your body’s immune system to fight against the real virus.

So you should at least expect some symptoms of a real COVID-19 infection, as the body works to fight off the “fake infection” that the vaccine just delivered.

Fact #6 : Hydrate With Water, Period

Hydration is simple – drink water. It really doesn’t matter if it’s cold, hot, warm, lukewarm, or room temperature.

There is also no fixed rule on how much water to drink a day. It very much depends on the individual’s life and environment.

Someone who is physically exerting himself in a dry climate would naturally require more hydration than a rich socialite chilling out in the sauna.

Fact #7 : Hydration Has No Effect On Vaccines

Any doctor worth his/her salt would know that body maintains its biological equilibrium through homeostasis.

So additional hydration after vaccination will not have any effect. You will just piss it out.

Fact #8 : Perfume Isn’t Bad For Vaccination

This needs some context. It’s not wrong to smell nice when you meet people.

Some health authorities are advising people to avoid wearing scented products like perfume or cologne, as other people waiting for their vaccinations may be allergic to them.

Fact #8 : Alcohol Rub / Swab Is Fine

WHO recommends against swabbing the skin with alcohol before injecting the vaccine, consider it an unnecessary waste of time and money. So don’t be worried if the nurse or doctor skips this step.

However, there is nothing wrong if you let the nurse or doctor swab your skin with alcohol before injecting the vaccine.

No one swabs the skin with alcohol after an injection, so we have no idea why the writer would ask you to refrain from doing so.

Fact #9 : Alcohol Consumption Before / After Vaccination Is Fine

There is no evidence that alcohol consumption has any effect on any COVID-19 vaccine, so there is no rule against consuming alcohol before or after vaccination.

But it would be make sense not to drink alcohol before driving to the vaccination centre – which is both unsafe, and against the law.

Fact #10 : Hypertension Is Not A Side Effect

So far, no COVID-19 vaccine (Covaxin or otherwise) has listed hypertension – high blood pressure – as a side effect. So there is no need to monitor your blood pressure after vaccination.

If you already have hypertension, then you should monitor your blood pressure regularly… as you normally would.

Flower of the Holy Spirit Transforms From Saint To Dove?

An orchid called the Flower of the Holy Spirit appears to change from a saint to a flying dove, when it blooms!

Learn more about this spectacular and divine miracle, and find out what the facts really are!

Flower of the Holy Spirit : From Saint To Dove!

People are sharing these photos of the Flower of the Holy Spirit, together with this helpful explanation :

This is one of the orchid species named Flower of the Holy Spirit. It starts blooming during Pentecostal period once a year.

Before bloom, it looks like praying saints, when the flower blooms, it looks like a flying dove. How amazing is God’s Creation!

Flower of the Holy Spirit : It Would Be A Miracle Indeed!

It would be a miracle if either of the two pictures above are the Flower of the Holy Spirit. The sad fact is that this is yet another divinely-inspired fake story.

The only factual thing about the whole post is that they are both orchids. Everything else was made up.

Fact #1 : Neither Are The Flower of the Holy Spirit

There is an orchid called The Flower of the Holy SpiritPeristeria elata.

Also known as the Holy Ghost orchid, dove orchid, or flor del Espiritu Santo in Spanish, this is what it looks like!

Fact #2 : The Orchid On The Left Is Green-Yellow Catasetum

The orchid that looks like praying saints? That’s Catasetum viridiflavum, commonly known as the Green-Yellow Catasetum.

We hate to burst your divine bubble again, but generally their “arms” do not fold inwards. It’s hard to find photos that show these “saints” praying…

Fact #3 : The Orchid On The Right Is White Egret Flower

The orchid that looks like a flying dove is Pecteilis radiata, commonly known as the White Egret Flower, the fringed orchid or sagisō.

Incidentally, this is the official flower of the Setagaya ward of Tokyo.

Fact #4 : They Do Not Bloom During Pentecost

As far as we can tell, orchids do not observe the Pentecost – which is generally around mid May to mid June.

  • Catasetum viridiflavum (the “praying saints”) blooms sometime between end June to end September.
  • Pecteilis radiata (the “flying dove”) blooms sometime between early December and February.

Neither of the orchids in the picture actually bloom during Pentecost…

Fact #5 : It Would Be A True Miracle If It Happens

It would be a textbook case of a true miracle if Catasetum viridiflavum blooms into Pecteilis radiata during the Pentecost.

We will be sure to update you if this miracle ever happens. But for now, this is just divine inspiration?

Seafood Scams On Facebook : How To Detect Them!

Seafood scams on Facebook have been proliferating recently, and Facebook just doesn’t care.

So it is up to all of us to spread the word and WARN EVERYONE about these seafood scams on Facebook.

Updated @ 2021-03-07 : Added another confirmed seafood scam page and two reported bank accounts.

Originally posted @ 2021-02-14

Seafood Scams On Facebook : What’s Going On?

We were first alerted to the world of Facebook seafood scams by people who were cheated by Ocean Sense and East Malaysia Seafood Agent.

These Facebook seafood scam pages have a simple modus operandi :

  • offer online seafood delivery at very attractive prices and even free delivery
  • advertise on Facebook to reach out to people, and avert Facebook’s ire
  • ghost you after you deposit money into their bank accounts
  • delete your negative comments on their Facebook page

Even though many people reported Ocean Sense and East Malaysia Seafood Agent as scam pages, Facebook declined to take action and they are STILL ACTIVE.

Seafood Scams On Facebook : How To Detect Them!

The problem with seafood scams on Facebook is how easily scammers create them. Even if they get banned by Facebook, they will simply create a new one.

Facebook also partly enables them to continue with their scam by ignoring reports, claiming that there is nothing on the scam pages that go against their Community Standards. Duh – as if the scammers will post on Facebook admitting that they are scammers.

So how do we detect these seafood scams on Facebook?

Step 1 : Check List Of Reported / Confirmed Seafood Scams

The first thing you should do is run a quick search online on the name of the seafood vendor. See if anyone has reported them to be a scam.

Confirmed Seafood Scams On Facebook

Multiple people have reported that these Facebook seafood vendors have cheated them :

Reported Seafood Scams On Facebook

These Facebook pages have been reported to be scam pages, but we haven’t been able to independently verify their reports :

Step 2 : Check With The Commercial Crimes Department

Next, use the Commercial Crimes Department’s website to check for bank accounts that have outstanding police reports.

For example, the CIMB 8604503834 has two outstanding police reports lodged against it.

DO NOT BANK ANY MONEY to any account flagged by the Commercial Crimes Department’s website.

Step 3 : Check List Of Reported Company + Bank Accounts

Just because a bank account has not been flagged by the Commercial Crimes Department’s website doesn’t mean it’s safe.

That’s because many people do not bother to lodge a police report, or it may be a recent scam.

Here is a list of reported company and bank accounts, which you should AVOID :

Name Bank Account
Yap Kok Keong CIMB 7635-3713-28
A&B Bintang Trading CIMB 8604-5038-34
Car Boutique Venture CIMB 8604-5267-74
GS 028 Seafood Trading CIMB 8604-5270-14
Lee Pea Ching CIMB 7075-3700-47

Step 4 : Look For An Address

Genuine seafood vendors on Facebook will share with you their address, so you can drop by and select your seafood if you wish.

But don’t just trust the address they post. Always check the address on Google Maps, and use Street View to check if the shop really exists.

Step 5 : Look For Angry Emojis

A genuine seafood vendor may have one or two angry emojis by dissatisfied customers, but scam pages will have A LOT of them.

Hover over the reaction emojis, and look at how many are positive (likes or wow), and how many are negative (angry).

Scam pages will have a lot of angry emojis because they often delete negative comments, so angry customers have only one option – show angry emojis to warn potential customers.

Step 6 : PM People With Angry Emojis

To find out for sure if this is a scam, just PM (private message) those who left an angry emoji react to the Facebook page.

That’s how we were able to confirm that Ocean Sense and East Malaysia Seafood Agent are seafood scam pages.

Step 7 : Pay Only By Credit Card / Cash On Delivery

If you are still enticed by the great offer and want to take a risk, insist on paying with a credit card, or cash on delivery.

NEVER PAY to a bank account directly, because there is simply NO PROTECTION, and NO WAY for you to get your money back.

Using a credit card protects you against fraud, because the payment is not instantly credited to the vendor.

If you did not receive the seafood you ordered, simply call up the bank and inform them. They will refund the money.

If the seafood vendor insists on a direct bank transfer and refuses even cash on delivery, it is highly likely that they are scammers.

Remote Control Electricity Saver : Bullshit Scam!

Electricity saving devices DO NOT WORK, period.

So if you see anyone selling them, it’s a scam. You are better off just giving your money to a charity… or to me.

Feel free to ask for my bank account number. At least, you will be supporting my work!

Now, here are the reasons why this Remote Control Electricity Saver is a scam, like all other electricity saving devices!

Reason #1 : The Videos Are So Fake

The videos they use as “evidence” are so fake. They basically shows the scammer turning the electricity meter on and off using the Remote Control Electricity Saver.

In reality, one scammer just turns an electrical appliance on and off, whenever his/her partner turns the Remote Control Electricity Saver off and on.

What does it prove? Absolutely nothing!

Reason #2 : The Device Looks Like A Piece Of Shit

These scammers do not even bother to make their Remote Control Electricity Saver look decent.

It looks like a cheap toy from the bargain bin in the 1980s – a crude black plastic box with tiny buttons and two LED lights. Something kids might pretend is a remote detonator for a toy bomb.

Reason #3 : It Doesn’t Even Pretend To Use A Capacitor

Electricity saving devices use a capacitor to improve the Power Factor* for inefficient devices like fans, fluorescent light ballast and voltage transformers.

By claiming to control the digital meter remotely, it doesn’t even pretend to use a capacitor! What it really claims to do is MAGICALLY stop the digital meter from recording your electricity usage.

* Important Note : Capacitor-based electricity saving devices are still a scam because utility companies do NOT charge residential or small business users for “reactive power” – electricity loss due to Power Factor inefficiency. So it doesn’t matter whether you improve your Power Factor or not – you are only charged for the actual power that is used, and not power that is lost.

Reason #4 : The Man Has Nothing To Do With The Scam

The scammers misappropriated a picture of Liaw San, a retiree from Kajang, making it look like he endorsed their product.

Liaw Sam gained infamy in 2014 when he was slapped with a RM 11,656 (~US$2,914) electricity bill, instead of his usual electricity bill of RM 50~RM200.

Fact Check : RM300 Seat Belt Fine On PLUS Highway?

Is it true that rear passengers caught not wearing a seat belt on the PLUS North-South Expressway will receive a RM300 fine?

Find out what’s going on, and what the FACTS really are!

Claim : RM300 Seat Belt Fine By Police On PLUS Highway!

This is the viral message that has been circulating (again) on WhatsApp since early January 2021, but was circulating on SMS and Facebook for a long time now.

. INFORMATION

Just now a lot of cars have been issued with fines.
Please notify everyone going out to remember to wear a seat belt at the back seat.

The Truth : There Is No RM300 Seat Belt Fine

The truth is there is no RM300 fine for rear passengers who did not wear a seat belt.

Fact #1 : JSPT Refuted The Viral Claim

The Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) refuted the claim that they would be checking cars travelling on the PLUS North-South Expressway in the evenings, and issuing a RM300 fine for those caught not wearing a seat belt at the back.

The JSPT Deputy Director SAC Datuk Mohd Nadzri Hussain said, “We at JSPT would like to advise all road users to continue complying with the laws and regulations to ensure the safety of every road user.

In addition, we would also like to urge the public to stop spreading fake information and to always ensure the validity of any viral information shared on social media sites.

Fact #2 : Rear Seat Belt Mandatory Since 1 January 2009

It has been mandatory in Malaysia to wear a seat belt while seated in the back seat of a vehicle since 1 January 2009, except for :

  • old vehicles registered before 1 January 1995
  • vehicles registered on or after 1 January 1995 but lack rear anchorage points
  • vehicles that seat more than 8 passengers (not including driver)
  • good vehicles with carrying load of more than 3.5 tonnes

Fact #3 : Seat Belt Fine Is Way More Than RM300

Any driver or passengers, whether seated in the front or rear, caught not wearing a seat belt will be subject to :

  • a fine of up to RM 2,000, and / or
  • a prison sentence of up to 1 year

Fact #4 : RM300 Seat Belt Fine Ended In June 2009

For a 6 month period – from 1 January until 30 June 2009 – the police and JPJ only issued a reduced RM300 fine to those who did not wear a seat belt.

That “introductory fine” has long expired.

Online Shopping Package Wrapped In Pink Underwear!

We are used to all kinds of packaging for online purchases, but this is the first time we have seen a package wrapped in pink underwear!

Delivery Mystery : Package Wrapped In Pink Underwear!

Online shopping is all the rage during the pandemic, and we are used to all manners of packaging. Everything from cardboard boxes and bubble wrap, to plastic bags and styrofoam boxes.

But this is the first time we have ever seen a cardboard package wrapped in pink underwear!

On 7 February 2021, Mamaayu Admia Ayunormaslinda shared about how her husband received a package from J&T Express. Not only was the box beaten up, it came wrapped in pink underwear!

The J&T Express delivery man was tickled by the odd packaging, but said that he was delivering the package as received.

To be clear, she ordered pencil boxes for her children, not underwear. So it was not a case of a package of underwear being torn, and someone at J&T Express just wrapping an errant underwear over the package, instead of stuffing it back inside.

Package Wrapped In Pink Underwear : Who Did It?

As this case came right after the J&T Express worker controversy, netizens suggested that it may be a case of “protest” or “sabotage” by disgruntled J&T Express workers.

After all, no vendor would actually ship their parcels wrapped in underwear. That’s a sure way to become infamous and possibly lose customers.

This led some netizens to accuse Mamaayu of making up the story.

But this “wrapping” was peculiar enough that someone working at J&T Express noticed it earlier and took a picture of it.

Ain Nurza, posted this picture below, saying that her husband who works at J&T Express found the package already wrapped in the pink underwear earlier.

The box looks to be in good condition and not beaten up, so this must have been early in the delivery process.

With this corroborating picture from a third-party, it is clear that Mamaayu was not making up the story.

It seems most likely that someone at another J&T Express hub wrapped the package with this pink underwear as a prank, or as a form of protest or sabotage in relation to the alleged cuts in commission.

J&T Express Worker Strike Over Pay Cut Clarified!

Viral videos have surfaced, allegedly showing J&T Express workers on strike over a pay cut!

Take a look at the videos, and find out what really happened!

J&T Express Worker Strike Over Pay Cut?

Several videos have surfaced, allegedly showing J&T Express workers on strike over a pay cut.

One of them, in particular, showed J&T Express workers shouting, with one worker standing on a conveyor belt throwing parcels.

According to various netizens, the J&T Express workers were angry and on strike, because their commissions were cut.

The other videos showed what appears to be a J&T fulfilment centre full of undelivered parcels with no one in sight. They appear to be genuine, with J&T logo on some of the parcels.

Coincidentally or not, Muhammad Syazwan Samat just received this brand new PC case from J&T Express.

And one family received their package wrapped in pink underwear!

Recommended : Only In Malaysia : Package Wrapped In Underwear!

J&T Express confirmed the incident, and clarified that it was a misunderstanding by several workers who did not understand their year-end bonus plan.

J&T Express in Perak then shared a video of seven workers saying that they did not strike, and apologising for abusing the packages.

On the other hand, this internal memo showed that J&T introduced a new, lower commission rate for their delivery dispatchers from 1 February 2021 onwards.

J&T Express On Viral Video Of Worker Strike

On 7 February 2021, J&T Express finally issued a statement about these viral videos :

The recent viral case which has been circulated on social media regarding “J&T Deducts Employee Wages Incident” that caused the dissatisfaction among employees with violent sorting behaviour, which has attracted the attention and discussion of the public, inside and outside the industry.

First of all, we express our deepest apologies to all Malaysians. Everyone’s opinions and suggestions are truly accepted and adopted by the company. In order to ensure the stability of our employees and to give the public a true accountability, we take this opportunity to clarify the truth to the public today.

“Deduction of Employee Wages Incident”:

J&T has been fully committed to localisation development, continuously improving employee compensation and benefits, and promoting the development of Malaysia’s social economy and E-commerce Industry. We have been committed to building a complete compensation and benefits system to increase employee benefits.

J&T has given employees year-end bonuses after comprehensive consideration, in accordance with the bonus rules and regulations, and in accordance with the Malaysian Labour Law, full bonuses are paid to employees who have worked for a year.

For employees who have worked for less than a year, bonuses are paid according to the length of working time without prejudice.

Unfortunately, certain employees are not clear about the bonus payment scheme which led to violent sorting of packages on February 4th, inciting some employees to make collective disturbances, and posting the videos to social media.

Our Perak state management has immediately handled and clarified the incident. On February 5th, the employees had resumed their normal working status and actively sorted and processed the packages of customers.

As for the fact that J&T deducts employee wages, we clarify that J&T will not deduct or owe employees a penny of wages, and hereby declare that we are willing to accept the supervision and inspection by the public and institutions.

RM1K MCO Fine For Standing 0.8m Apart In Queue?

Can you really get a RM1,000 MCO fine for standing just 0.8 metres apart in a queue?

Find out what happened to Bernard He, and what the FACTS really are!

Claim : RM1K MCO Fine For Standing 0.8m Apart In Queue!

On 4 February, Bernard He Linjun was queuing up for his turn at cash deposit machine at a bank, when the police came to check for compliance with the MCO SOP.

The police officers took pictures at the bank, asked customers for their MyKad identity cards, and then instructed them to wait outside after using the ATM machines.

Bernard thought he was safe because he logged his visit using MySejahtera, and had queued up properly – standing inside the designated queue box.

Nevertheless, when his turn came, he was issued a RM1,000 MCO fine for not complying with the social distancing SOP!

When he questioned the police officer, he was told that while he was standing inside the marked box, they were all less than 1 metre apart.

According to the police, the boxes were only 0.8 metres apart, and the bank did not adjust their spacing even after being warned about this earlier.

As this was a technical violation of the law, they had to issue him the compound. They also fined the bank for violating the SOP.

He ended his post with the advice that people should help to warn businesses and other people about such SOP requirements, so they won’t get fined like him.

RM1K MCO Fine For Standing 0.8m Apart In Queue : The Facts

Some netizens have suggested that he may not be telling the truth. After all, similar claims have proven to be false in the past.

Others have also suggested that he was complaining on Facebook to gain sympathy, fame or attention.

However, Bernard was telling the truth, and here are the reasons why….

Fact #1 : He Posted A Picture Of His Compound

On 5 February 2021, Bernard posted a picture of the police compound he received.

It showed that he was, indeed, fined RM1,000 on 4 February 2021, for not complying with the social distancing SOP.

Fact #2 : There Is A 1 Metre Social Distancing Requirement In Public

There is a 1 metre social distancing requirement in public, including businesses like banks and shopping malls.

This applies throughout Malaysia, irrespective of whether the area is under RMCO, CMCO or MCO restrictions.

Even though it is hard for anyone to visually differentiate between 0.8 metre and a full metre, the police are technically correct to say that standing 0.8 metre from someone else is breaking the law.

To be safe, try to stand further away (1.5 to 2 metres) from other people. If they complain, use Bernard’s example as evidence that this is no joke.

Do also note that the social distancing rule is extended to a minimum of 3 metres for dynamic sporting activities.

Fact #3 : You Can Appeal The Decision

If you feel that the police wrongly issued the MCO fine, you can appeal it.

In Bernard’s case, he was relying on the bank to accurately space out their “social distancing boxes” for their customers.

He may not necessarily win his appeal, but he has a good reason to appeal.

After all, no one brings a measuring tape to ensure social distancing, and we all rely on marked boxes to comply with the SOP.

Bernard’s Posts On His RM1K MCO Fine

For those who can read Chinese, here was what Bernard He posted about how he received a RM1,000 MCO fine for not complying with the social distancing SOP :

Fact Check : February 2021 Happens Once Every 823 Years!

Is it true that February 2021 is once-in-a-lifetime event that happens once every 823 years?

Take a look at this viral claim, and find out what the FACTS really are!

Claim : February 2021 Happens Once Every 823 Years!

This is the viral claim that crops up almost every year, but gets a refresh every time.

This coming February cannot come in your life time again. Because this year February has
4 Sundays,
4 Mondays,
4 Tuesdays,
4 Wednesdays,
4 Thrusdays,
4 Fridays &
4 Saturdays.
This Happens once every 823 years.
This is called money bags. So send to at least 5 people or 5 Groups and hopefully money will arrive within 4 days. Based on Chinese Feng Shui. Send within 11 minutes of reading.

February 2021 Happens Once Every 823 Years : Not True!

Here is the short summary – February 2021 is NOT a lifetime event that happens once every 823 years.

In fact, as far as Februarys go, February 2021 is nothing special, and here’s why…

Fact #1 : Most Februaries Have 28 Days

Every February has 28 days, except for leap years where they gain an extra day and have 29 days.

Years that are divisible by 4 are leap years, except for years that are divisible by 100 years.

  • 1896 and 1904 are leap years, but not 1900.

There is one exception though – years that are divisible by 400 have a leap year.

  • 1800 and 1900 are leap years, but not 2000.

Fact #2 : Roughly ¾ Of Februaries Have 4 Weeks

Roughly ¾ of Februaries have 28 days, and therefore 4 weeks with 4 Sundays, 4 Mondays, 4 Tuesdays, 4 Wednesdays, 4 Thursdays, 4 Fridays and yes, 4 Saturdays too.

In other words, February 2021 isn’t unique at all in having 4 of every day of the week… definitely NOT every 823 years.

In fact, it is far more common for Februaries to have 4 Sundays, 4 Mondays, 4 Tuesdays, 4 Wednesdays, 4 Thursdays, 4 Fridays and 4 Saturdays, than anything else!

However, one of our readers confirmed that he was cheated by this vendor, and he shared with us the details of what happened.

Noticeably, the vendor behaved very similarly to Ocean Sense, replying in PM and deleting negative comments. That’s why the page has many Angry reacts, by people who were blocked from commenting.

East Malaysia Seafood Agent Scam : What Happened?

This customer ordered a large quantity of lobsters and Alaska king crabs from East Malaysia Seafood Agent, and was told to bank the money to :

Yap Kok Keong
CIMB 7634-371-328

This is the EXACT SAME person and bank account for Ocean Sense!

We checked the CIMB account number with the Commercial Crimes Department’s website, which showed that no report has been lodged against it… yet.

However, it doesn’t mean it is a safe account. At least 61 people have looked up the same number.

Oddly enough, when he asked for the bank account for the company (whose SSM record he furnished above), he issued him an invoice at a different company, and told him to bank it into “his relative’s company” instead :

Car Boutique Venture
CIMB 8604-5267-74

We checked the CIMB account number with the Commercial Crimes Department’s website, which showed that no report has been lodged against it… yet.

However, it doesn’t mean it is a safe account. At least 19 people have looked up the same number.

By this time, he was very suspicious, and decided to take a small gamble.

He said that he would bank a deposit of RM 200 into that Yap Kok Keong personal account, and pay the remainder on delivery.

As expected, he never delivered the seafood and then ghosted this customer.

Help REPORT East Malaysia Seafood Agent On Facebook!

Even though he reported East Malaysia Seafood Agent page as a scam to Facebook, the page is still active, and the person running this page is actively deleting negative comments.

Here is how you can help prevent more people from being scammed.

Step 1 : Report To The Police!

If you are one of those who were scammed, please report to the police ASAP.

This would help get the bank accounts blacklisted, and listed in the Commercial Crimes Department’s database.

Step 2 : Publicise The Scam!

Share this article, or the news about East Malaysia Seafood Agent, with your family and friends.

Alert your community via social media – Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.

Step 3 : Report The Scam To Facebook!

Facebook is quite lax about scams. They need many people to report a page as a scam before they will even bother to take action.

So follow these steps to report the East Malaysia Seafood Agent Facebook page as a scam.

  1. Go to the East Malaysia Seafood Agent Facebook page.
  2. Tap on the … menu on the upper right corner.
  3. Select Find support or Report Page.

  1. Select Fraud or Scam and Other.
  2. Click Next.

  1. Select Report Page.

  1. Tick the I believe that this goes against Facebook’s Community Standards check box.
  2. Click on the Report button.

That’s it! You have done your part in reporting a scammer.

But for this to work, many more people must report the page as a scam. So please share this out, and get your family and friends to help report them.

Facebook is very lax, and will likely claim that the page doesn’t contravene their Community Standards. But without enough reports, they will take it more seriously.

Fact Check : 52 New MCO SOP Rules For Next 6 Months?

Will there be 52 new and much stricter MCO SOP rules for the next 6 months, starting 4 February 2021?

Take a look at the viral post, and find out what the FACTS really are!

Updated @ 2021-01-31 : Added KKM’s official announcement on these 52 MCO rules.

Originally posted @ 2021-01-25

Claim : 52 New MCO SOP Rules For Next Six Months!

This claim of 52 new and much stricter MCO SOP rules that will kick off on 4 February 2021 has gone viral on social media.

Latest news: The government hopes that everyone will tide over the economic difficulties together in the next 6 months.

Tighten SOP M-20 from February 4

1) A car can only have one person
2) Cannot go beyond 10KM
3) Morning market 5.am-11am
4) Night markets banned
5) Cannot eat in
6) Barbershops banned
7) Only 50 people allowed in a supermarket at any one time
8) Supermarket operating hours: 8.am-8.30pm
9) Cannot cross districts or states
10) Cannot go out after 8pm

52 New MCO SOP Rules For Next 6 Months : Utter Nonsense!

This viral message about 52 new MCO SOP rules that will kick off on 4 February 2021 is nonsense.

That’s because some of them are already part of the latest SOP! And while some of them could possibly be implemented in the future, the rest are unlikely to be come true.

This hoax is probably trying to leverage the fear of a complete economic shutdown that was sparked by the leaked Eurocham circular.

KKM Confirmed That They Are FALSE

On 31 January 2021, the Malaysia Ministry of Health finally announced that the viral message was FALSE.

But when we posted this a week earlier, we pointed out the many discrepancies in the viral message below :

These Rules Are Already Part Of The MCO SOP

These 13 rules are already part of the latest SOP, for the MCO 2.0 lockdown that kicked off on 13 January 2021.

2) Cannot go beyond 10KM
4) Night markets banned
5) Cannot eat in
6) Barbershops banned
9) Cannot cross districts or states
11) Not wearing mask: Rm1000 fine
19) Beauty salons banned
20) Massage parlors banned
21) Nightclubs and bars banned
25) Hospital: 24 hours
29) Police station: 24 hours
35) Online classes nationwide
51) Non-important sectors also prohibited from operating

These Rules Could Possibly Be Implemented Later

These stricter rules could possibly be implemented as part of a very strict MCO lockdown :

1) A car can only have one person
3) Morning market 5.am-11am
8) Supermarket operating hours: 8.am-8.30pm
12) Shop not following SOP: Rm10k fine
23) Petrol station: 6am-8pm
24) Convenience store 7am-8pm
38) Postpone school exams to end of June
39) Post office, express delivery: 24 hours
41) Public transport: 7am-10pm
42) Public transport can cross districts & states
43) Extend personal income tax to the end of June
48) 55 years old and above can get Rm30x3 months
49) Construction sector prohibited
52) Government Department: 7am-2pm

These Rules Are Unlikely To Happen

These MCO rules are unlikely to happen, because…

10) Cannot go out after 8pm
47) Under 18 years old cannot go out after 6pm

– Under current MCO SOP, no one is supposed to leave the house, except to purchase food, necessities and for cycling and jogging, so these rules are nonsensical.

7) Only 50 people allowed in a supermarket at any one time
– It is very hard for supermarkets to manage the number of people going in and out

13) Only 5 persons allowed to enter store at a time
– It is impossible to implement a limit like that, because stores vary in size

14) Isolation time: 14-28 days
– quarantine time has been reduced to 10 days, and there is no logic to increasing it to 28 days

15) Ambulance-Isolation Center: Rm80
16) Hospitalization fee: Rm110 per day
18) Electronic Isolation Bracelet charge: Rm50
– as COVID-19 is a public health emergency, the government is unlikely to charge anyone

17) Disinfection Fee: Rm550 per shop
– the government is not in the business of sanitising shops
– sanitisation of shops have been undertaken by private companies

22) Chinese New Year banned
– you cannot ban a public holiday, but the government will likely ban public gatherings, and perhaps even family gatherings (except those from the same household).

26) Transport company: 6am-12pm
– the delivery of essential goods has never been restricted even during the first MCO, and that won’t change because people need these supplies
– limiting working hours will also not help cut down on infection rates

27) All 3-star hotels to become quarantine centers
– the government may offer 3-star hotels the opportunity to serve as quarantine centres, but it won’t be mandatory
– the cost will also be significantly higher than the MAEPS quarantine centre.

28) 24 Highways to be closed
– as flow of essential goods is necessary, it would not be logical to close any highway
existing travel restrictions are good enough to prevent interstate travel

30) Electricity bill discount: 10-15%
31) Water bill discount: 10-25%
45) West Malaysia electricity bill discount 10%
46) 13% discount on electricity for West Malaysia

– It is very unlikely that the government can afford to pay for such high discounts
– the conflicting electricity bill discount for West Malaysia shows that this list is just made up

32) Hawker subsidy: Rm300
– This is unlikely to happen because there’s no registry of hawkers, which makes it impossible for the government to implement such a scheme

33) 15% discount on national land tax
44) Peninsula house tax discount 10%
37) Extension of land tax for 1 year

– These are unlikely to happen because it won’t help the rakyat much, only the wealthy who own many houses

34) Can withdraw RM15K Pension at one time
– The government already allowed the withdrawal of RM10K from EPF in 2021
– It is very unlikely that they will allow another withdrawal of RM15K in the same year

36) Extend personal loan for 6 months
– The banks are already restructuring personal loans into fixed rate loans, so another loan moratorium is unlikely

40) 25% discount on rent for SMEs
– How do you force private owners to give SMEs a 25% discount on their rents?

50) Important sectors prohibited from commencement
– Critical sectors involved in the production of food and essential supplies was allowed during the first MCO, and will not be prohibited, because well, they are essential!

SCAMMER ALERT

“OCEAN SENSE” – seafood supplier.

Do not purchase from this vendor. It is a scam. Blocks purchasers from FB/FB messenger and mobile number after monies for orders are banked into his account.

FB business name: Ocean Sense
Vendor / Acc name: Yap Kok Keong
Payment Account: CIMB 7634-3713-28

Be careful with online purchases during this depressed period of time!

We checked the CIMB account number with the Commercial Crimes Department’s website, which showed that no report has been lodged against it… yet.

However, it doesn’t mean it is a safe account. At least 61 people have looked up the same number.

In fact, a similar East Malaysia Seafood Agent page is also using the same CIMB bank account owned by Yap Kok Keong!

Another Ocean Sense customer just shared screenshots of his interaction with the same vendor, who used a different bank account :

A&B Bintang Trading
CIMB 8604-5038-34

After paying Ocean Sense RM500, he was told that seafood he purchased would arrive at 11 AM. But there was no sign of it at 12 PM, which was when the buyer realised he was cheated.

According to the Commercial Crimes Department’s website, this CIMB bank account had two police reports lodged against it.

You should AVOID dealing with A&B Bintang Trading, and definitely DO NOT send money to CIMB 8604503834.

If you have been cheated by this company, please LODGE A REPORT at the nearest police station!

We reached out to Ocean Sense, and after some digging, they claim that they are based in Tawau, and that their customers can purchase seafood from them at this address :

Ocean Sense
1st Block, Batu 13,
Jalan Airport
91000 Balung,
Tawau,
 Sabah

Contact : Tommy Tan
Tel. : 010-775-9395

However, there is no Jalan Airport in Tawau, and Jalan Airport Baru is just an empty road leading to the Tawau Airport.

Can Ivermectin Really Cure Or Prevent COVID-19?

Is Ivermectin the new superdrug that can cure and prevent COVID-19? Find out what the FACTS really are!

Claim : Ivermectin Can Cure And Prevent COVID-19!

Ivermectin first made headlines in December 2020, and interest has surged recently with the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines worldwide.

Many people are promoting Ivermectin on social media, as the new superdrug that can cure and prevent COVID-19… and they claim, a better and safer alternative to the new COVID-19 vaccines.

Here are some of the many “expert opinions” by Google doctors across the world. We intentionally placed a FALSE overlay to prevent it from being misused.

Can Ivermectin Cure Or Prevent COVID-19? Not At The Moment

Now, let’s preface this fact check by noting that ivermectin is one of the drugs that are still being investigated for their effects on COVID-19.

At the moment, there is NO EVIDENCE that Ivermectin can cure or prevent COVID-19. Neither is Ivermectin an approved cure or prophylaxis against COVID-19.

Hence, those excited claims on social media that ivermectin can cure / prevent COVID-19 are FALSE.

Ivermectin Versus COVID-19 : The Facts

For those who want to learn more, here is what we know so far about Ivermectin as a cure or prophylaxis against COVID-19.

Fact #1 : Ivermectin Is Primarily Promoted By The FLCCC

The FLCCC (Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance) has been actively promoting Ivermectin as a prophylaxis against COVID-19, and a treatment for early and late-stage COVID-19.

This group is led by three doctors – one of whom (Dr. Pierre Kory) testified at a US Senate hearing on early treatments for COVID-19.

Fact #2 : Ivermectin Is FDA Approved As Anti-Parasitic Drug

Ivermectin has the advantage of being a US FDA-approved broad-spectrum anti-parasitic agent, that is on the WHO List of Essential Medicines.

In use since 1981, it has a known safety profile, and is relatively cheap. It is also routinely used to treat parasitic worms in animals, and is used as a prophylaxis against heartworm in dogs.

Fact #3 : Ivermectin Was Proven To Inhibit SARS-CoV-2 In Vitro

While FLCCC may be the “face” of the effort to promote Ivermectin, an Australian team actually proved that Ivermectin inhibits SARS-CoV-2 in vitro.

But this is important – it only worked in the laboratory, when applied to Vero-hSLAM (African green monkey kidney) cells. That’s what it means when scientists say “in vitro” (in glass).

Fact #4 : Efficacy In Vitro Does Not Mean It’s Effective Or Safe In Vivo

Many things can inhibit or destroy viruses in vitro, including disinfectants and UV light that Donald Trump favoured.

But that does not mean they will work in the human body (in vivo), or be safe to consume, or inject into our bodies.

Some compounds work in vitro (in the lab), but fail to show any effect in vivo (in the body). Other compounds may work, but only at such high dosages that they may be toxic.

Further research, followed by animal and human trials are required to determine actual safety and efficacy.

In fact, the in vitro study showed that Ivermectin had a IC50 of 2.2~2.8 µM against SARS-CoV-2, which would mean therapeutic doses would likely be much higher than currently approved as safe for use in humans.

Fact #5 : A New 2021 Study Showed Potential For Further Research

A small randomised double-blind, placebo controlled trial of Ivermectin was conducted between 31 July and 11 September 2020, and the study was just published in The Lancet on 19 January 2021.

Half of the participants received 400 micrograms per kg weight of Ivermectin, while the other half received a placebo. All 24 participants had non-severe COVID-19.

Their SARS-CoV-2 RNA viral loads were then tested 7 days after taking Ivermectin or the placebo.

At the end of the trial, the study noted that there was :

  • no difference in the infectivity of both groups
  • a marked reduction in symptoms like anosmia / hyposmia (loss or reduction of ability to smell) and cough.
  • a tendency for lower viral loads and IgG titres

What the small study suggests is that Ivermectin does not appear to reduce infectivity, but could possibly reduce the severity of the illness.

This is a positive sign for further research into Ivermectin, not evidence that it is a cure or prophylaxis for COVID-19.

Fact #6 : US FDA Warns Against Using Ivermectin To Treat Or Prevent COVID-19

Interestingly, as FLCCC ramped up their campaign for Ivermectin in December 2020, the US FDA issued a warning against using Ivermectin to treat or prevent COVID-19.

It noted that the in vitro study only “described the effect of ivermectin on SARS-CoV-2 in a laboratory setting” and that “additional testing is needed to determine whether ivermectin might be appropriate to prevent or treat coronavirus or COVID-19“.

Any use of ivermectin for the prevention or treatment of COVID-19 should be avoided as its benefits and safety for these purposes have not been established.

Data from clinical trials are necessary for us to determine whether ivermectin is safe and effective in treating or preventing COVID-19.

Eurocham Leak Of Malaysia Shutdown : Please Don’t Panic!

Did the leaked Eurocham circular warn of a total shutdown of the economy in Malaysia?

Find out why it was really just a storm in a teacup…

Eurocham Leak Of Malaysia Shutdown : What Happened?

On 23 January 2021, a Eurocham (EU-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry) circular to their members leaked and circulated on social media – WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Many netizens and even media outlets blared warnings of a TOTAL LOCKDOWN immediately after 4 February 2021.

Eurocham Leak Of Malaysia Shutdown : Nothing Shocking…

When the circular leaked, there were expressions of SHOCK! Horror! Outrage! online.

The truth is – those who actually read the circular carefully would be nonplussed about what it revealed…

It was really an appeal to the manufacturing industry to help cut down on the infection rate, so that the economy does NOT need to shut down.

So please don’t panic over the threat of a complete shutdown of the economy. We went through it once with the first MCO in March 2020.

It will be no different. We survived that, and if it happens again, we will be ready for it. Remember, my fellow Malaysians – MALAYSIA BOLEH!!!

And if you really want to help prevent a shut down of the economy, please FOLLOW THE SOP!

Eurocham Leak Of Malaysia Shutdown : The Facts

For those who want a play-by-play of why there’s nothing to worry about in the Eurocham circular, here are our points…

Fact #1 : It Was KKM With Clear Stand On Complete Shutdown

The circular noted that it was the Malaysia Ministry of Health (KKM) that “made a clear stand of the matter of a complete shutdown of the economy“.

It did not even mention what that “clear stand” was, but KKM has stated publicly that they recommended a strict lockdown to the government several times in the past.

Fact #2 : Shutdown Was Always A Possibility

A complete shutdown of the economy, which happened with the first MCO, was always a possibility.

The Malaysia Ministry of Health shared publicly that they had recommended the reimposition of those strict measures several times in the past.

Fact #3 : Shutdown Was Predicated On Infection Rate

What many people did not notice or care is that the “threat” of a complete shutdown of the economy was predicated on the infection rate.

Should the infection rate not decrease, the Malaysian government will announce a shutdown / strict lockdown immediately after 4 February 2021.

In other words – if the infection rate can be brought down, the shutdown or strict lockdown will not happen at all.

Fact #4 : Shutdown Was Overruled In The Past

The Malaysian government overruled KKM’s recommendations for strict MCO in the past, so even their “clear stand” this time may not amount to much.

In fact, the circular states that the Malaysian government is considering either a shutdown or a strict lockdown (see the quote in Fact #3).

Fact #5 : Industry Was Asked To Help Cut Down Infection Rate

The circular points out that the manufacturing sector accounts for a large number of clusters, and worker dormitories, transportation and social activities were identified as key problem areas.

Therefore, the meeting was to get the manufacturing industry to help clamp down on the infection rate, by addressing those problem areas.

Fact #6 : It Was An Urgent Appeal To Forestall A Shutdown

If the government had already made up their mind to shutdown the economy, they would not bother to call for such meetings with industry representatives.

It was obvious from the circular that the Malaysian government was urgently appealing for industries to solve the problem of persistently high COVID-19 infection rates.

Hence, the circular listed two urgent measures that companies were requested to implement immediately.

Focus On Fauci : These Vaccine Lies Can Get You KILLED!

The viral video of four “experts” talking about the dangers of the COVID-19 vaccine is full of lies that can get you and your family KILLED!

Find out what’s going on, and why the lies being told about the COVID-19 vaccine could get you (and your family) killed!

Focus On Fauci : What Is It?

Focus on Fauci was a two-hour livestream by former rock musician, Sacha Stone, and headlined four “experts” on 5 January 2021 :

  • Robert F. Kennedy Jr – renown anti-vaccinationist, and nephew of John F. Kennedy
  • Dr. Judy Mikovits, PhD – former biochemistry research scientist
  • Dr. David E. Martin, PhD – a Fellow at the Darden School of Business Administration, University of Virginia
  • Dr. Rocco Galati  – a Canadian lawyer specialising in constitutional law

It claims to bring before the public, “the vast pathology of crimes against humanity, which many key researchers and experts allege against Anthony Fauci (the most powerful man on earth in the public health administration sector)”.

The Bombshell Revelation Of Vaccine Lies

None of them have any expertise in medicine or vaccine, and the entire livestream was full of lies and misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccine.

Dr. David Martin, in particular, dropped a “bombshell” – the clip of which many people have been sharing on WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube, etc.

It has also been posted on many natural health and antivax websites as a “shocking bombshell revelation”.

We will show you why the many claims about the COVID-19 vaccine in that video clip are nothing more than LIES that can get you and your family killed.

Why These Lies About The COVID-19 Vaccine Can Get You KILLED!

Let us be clear – the Focus on Fauci event was nothing more than a livestream of vaccine lies and deceit, by people who have no conscience about getting other people killed.

Suicide is meant to be a solitary hobby, and suicide enablers should not be allowed to livestream their poison to the world.

Now, we are not trying to be hyperbolic, but those vaccine lies they told can get YOU, and your family, KILLED.

If they convince you not to vaccinate against SARS-CoV-2 virus, it puts your family at risk of getting infected and developing a serious case of COVID-19.

The chance of dying from COVID-19 ranges from 0.2% to 8.6%. That’s an average of 4.4%, or 44 people dying out of every 1,000 patients.

Let us put it this way. Would you risk getting on a plane without a parachute, knowing that 9 out of every 200 passengers will be thrown out the door mid-flight?

The vaccine is your parachute. It can save your life if you are amongst the unlucky nine to be thrown out of the plane!

Workers wearing protective gear bury bodies in a trench on Hart Island in New York City on April 9.

Focus On Fauci : The Lies Debunked!

Now, let’s go through the claims Dr. David Martin, PhD made about the COVID-19 vaccine, and show you why they are all LIES.

Claim #1 : Let’s make sure we are clear… This is not a vaccine.

FALSE. The Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are vaccines, which by definition, are biological preparations that provide “active acquired immunity to a particular infectious disease“.

Claim #2 : They are using the term “vaccine” to sneak this thing under public health exemptions. This is not a vaccine.

FALSE. There is no public health exemption for COVID-19 vaccines. Neither is there a public health requirement for mandatory COVID-19 vaccination.

As a finance expert, and not a medical expert, he could be referring to the insistence by vaccine companies to be protected from legal liability for any side effects.

That, however, has to be approved by each individual country, and is constitutionally or financially impossible in most countries.

In countries that provide partial liability waivers for vaccine candidates that focus on fair distribution, instead of profits (e.g. AstraZeneca), the governments will pay claims that exceed an agreed limit.

Claim #3 : [The vaccine] is a medical device designed to simulate the human cell into becoming a pathogen creator.

FALSE. These vaccines do NOT turn your cells into pathogen creators. As we explained in our mRNA vaccine article, the mRNA only trains some of your cells to create the viral spike proteins.

These viral spike proteins are like the uniforms that identify the virus, and by expressing them on the surface of some of your cells, your body’s immune system is triggered.

Your body will learn to identify these “foreign uniforms” and create antibodies that target them, to prevent your cells from being infected when you get exposed to the real SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Claim #4 : [The vaccine] specifically has to stimulate both immunity… and disrupt transmission.

FALSE. Vaccines are, by definition, designed to confer active acquired immunity to the vaccinated. It does not need to prevent transmission, even though that would be ideal.

What this means is a fully-vaccinated person is protected against COVID-19, but may still inhale and retain the SARS-CoV-2 viral particles in his/her respiratory passages, and transmit them to an unvaccinated person.

That’s why it is important to vaccinate everyone, and not rely on the vaccinated to prevent transmission.

Claim #5 : [Pfizer and Moderna] have been abundantly clear [the vaccine] is not going to stop the transmission.

FALSE. Pfizer and Moderna said no such thing. They only said that there is NOT ENOUGH EVIDENCE YET to determine if their vaccines can ALSO prevent asymptomatic infection and transmission.

Claim #6 : It is a treatment [not a vaccine].

FALSE. They are vaccines that must be taken in advanced to train your body to build its own immunity. It cannot be used to treat anyone who has already contracted COVID-19.

Claim #7 : Moderna started as a chemotherapy company for cancer, not a vaccine manufacturer for SARS-CoV-2.

FALSE. Moderna started out specifically to commercialise mRNA technology. It’s even in their name – ModeRNA Therapeutics. That makes them perfectly suited to create and deliver mRNA vaccines.

Dr. David Martin is disingenuously insinuating that Moderna does not have any expertise in manufacturing SARS-CoV-2 vaccines. That’s true for every pharmaceutical company, big and small – because SARS-CoV-2 is a new virus!

We should also point out his hypocrisy – he is an expert on finance, not COVID-19. By his own standard, no one should bother with what he has to say about COVID-19! 🙂

Claim #8 : It Is A Medical Device (According To) CDRH Definition

FALSE. These mRNA vaccines are not defined as medical devices by the CDRH (Center for Devices and Radiological Health) of the US FDA, because :

  • the mRNA is absorbed and metabolised by the cells, and creates proteins through chemistry.

Like drugs, vaccines are NOT medical devices. It is illogical to call them devices.

Section 201(h) of the Federal Food Drug & Cosmetic (FD&C) Act defines a device as an “instrument, apparatus, implement, machine, contrivance, implant, in vitro reagent, or other similar or related article, including a component part, or accessory which is:

  • recognized in the official National Formulary, or the United States Pharmacopoeia, or any supplement to them
  • Intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions, or in the cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease, in man or other animals, or
  • Intended to affect the structure or any function of the body of man or other animals, and

which does not achieve its primary intended purposes through chemical action within or on the body of man or other animals and which is not dependent upon being metabolized for the achievement of its primary intended purposes.

Claim #9 : It Is Designed To Make You Sick

FALSE. These mRNA vaccines have been PROVEN in their stage 3 trials to be about 95% efficacious in PREVENTING sickness.

Claim #10 : 80% of [vaccinated] people experience a clinical adverse event

FALSE. The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine’s trial result showed that there were only 8 adverse events out of 18,904 people who were vaccinated.

That’s 0.04%, not 80%. Dr. David Martin either miscalculated, or intentionally inflated the risk by 2000X. Quite a mistake for a finance expert…

Fact Check : Can Betadine + Listerine Prevent COVID-19?

A viral message claims that Malaysian experts found that gargling with Betadine and Listerine can prevent COVID-19!

Find out what’s going on, and what the facts really are!

Claim : Gargling Betadine + Listerine Prevents COVID-19!

This graphics has been circulating on WhatsApp and Facebook with the claim (in Bahasa Malaysia and English) :

Pakar M’sia mendapati berkumur dengan BETADINE atau LISTERINE, 3 kali sehari selama 4 hari berturut-turut boleh membunuh virus COVID-19.

Hasil penemuan telah diserah kepada KKM.

Malaysian experts found that gargling with BETADINE or LISTERINE, 3 times a day for 4 days consecutively can kill the COVID-19 virus.

The results of this discovery has been submitted to the Malaysia Ministry of Health.

Can Betadine + Listerine Prevent COVID-19? No, They Cannot!

Here is the short, TLDR summary – NO, gargling Betadine or Listerine mouthwash will NOT kill the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and prevent it from infecting you.

For those who want to learn more WHY this is just another Internet hoax…

Fact #1 : SARS-CoV-2 Is A Respiratory Virus

SARS-CoV-2 infects mainly through respiratory droplets that you BREATHE in.

No amount of gargling with Betadine or Listerine mouthwash can prevent you from breathing in SARS-CoV-2, and getting infected.

Fact #2 : LISTERINE Cannot Prevent COVID-19

LISTERINE ís an antiseptic mouthwash, that has little to no antiviral properties. Some formulations have alcohol, but only up to 20%.

Johnson & Johnson even has a special page to warn people that LISTERINE is NOT intended to “reduce the risk of, prevent or treat COVID-19 infections”.

It also warns against using it to sanitise your hands or surfaces, because it simply will NOT kill the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Fact #3 : Betadine Cannot Prevent COVID-19

Betadine mouthwash uses povidone iodine, but it has not been demonstrated to be effective at killing the COVID-19 virus.

In fact, Avrio Health has a special page to warn people that Betadine has NOT been demonstrated to be “effective for the treatment or prevention of COVID-19 or any other viruses.

Fact #4 : KKM Confirms It’s Fake News

In a post posted on 13 January 2021, Dr. Iqbal Rosali, a dentist from the Ministry of Health, confirmed that this is fake news.

He also explained that in dentistry, mouthwash is used to reduce the risk of getting infected by their patients (who may have COVID-19).

Before doing a procedure that can create an aerosol (filling, scaling), the patient will be asked to gargle with mouthwash.

Fact #5 : Mouthwash Protects Dentists, Not Users

Studies like this show that povidone iodine is effective in reducing the viral load in a patient’s mouth.

This helps to reduce the risk of an asymptomatic COVID-19 patient unknowingly infecting the dentist.

However, it does not prevent the mouthwash user from getting infected. It only protects the dentist.

Is WhatsApp Forcing Us To Share Data With Facebook In February 2021?

Many websites are claiming that WhatsApp is forcing us to share our data with Facebook in February 2021.

Find out what’s going on, and what the FACTS really are!

WhatsApp Sharing Data With Facebook : What’s Going On?

We wrote about this earlier, but it looks like many websites (including very influential ones) are still peddling the claim that WhatsApp is going to force us to share data with Facebook in February 2021.

It all started with this pop-up alert that started appearing on WhatsApp a few days ago, alerting us to a change in its terms and privacy policy.

You must accept this new privacy policy to continue using WhatsApp from 8 February 2021 onwards. Otherwise, the alert subtly suggests, you should “delete your account”.

Since then, numerous articles have been written about how this new privacy policy is forcing us to share our WhatsApp data with Facebook.

This has led to many people switching to alternatives like Telegram and Signal, in fear that the new privacy policy would allow Facebook to access and read all of their WhatsApp messages.

No, WhatsApp Is Not Forcing You To Share Data With Facebook

As we shared earlier, NO, the new WhatsApp privacy policy does not force you to share data with Facebook, because…

Fact #1 : It Has Been A Requirement Since September 2016!

It is perplexing why so many websites claim that this new privacy policy forces us to let WhatsApp share data with Facebook. After all, this has been a requirement since September 2016!

Back in August 2016, WhatsApp announced that they would start sharing data with Facebook. At that time, they gave existing users 30 days to opt-out.

This was a one-time offer that has never been repeated. Since then, every new and current user MUST agree to let WhatsApp share data with Facebook.

Fact #2 : WhatsApp Will Still Honour The Opt-Out

If you are a WhatsApp veteran who opted out of data sharing in August 2016, WhatsApp will still honour that opt-out.

You can safely agree to the new privacy policy – your data opt-out will remain active.

Fact #3 : WhatsApp Will Share MORE Information With Facebook

The new WhatsApp privacy policy is mainly focused on enabling Businesses on WhatsApp.

So while they DO NOT need your permission to continue sharing data with Facebook, they still need your permission to SHARE MORE data with Facebook.

This is the list of additional data that we must agree to let WhatsApp share with Facebook :

  • Status Information. You may provide us your status if you choose to include one on your account. Learn how to use status on Android, iPhone, or KaiOS.
  • Transactions And Payments Data. If you use our payments services, or use our Services meant for purchases or other financial transactions, we process additional information about you, including payment account and transaction information. Payment account and transaction information includes information needed to complete the transaction (for example, information about your payment method, shipping details and transaction amount). If you use our payments services available in your country or territory, our privacy practices are described in the applicable payments privacy policy.
  • Location Information. We collect and use precise location information from your device with your permission when you choose to use location-related features, like when you decide to share your location with your contacts or view locations nearby or locations others have shared with you. There are certain settings relating to location-related information which you can find in your device settings or the in-app settings, such as location sharing. Even if you do not use our location-related features, we use IP addresses and other information like phone number area codes to estimate your general location (e.g., city and country). We also use your location information for diagnostics and troubleshooting purposes.
  • User Reports. Just as you can report other users, other users or third parties may also choose to report to us your interactions and your messages with them or others on our Services; for example, to report possible violations of our Terms or policies. When a report is made, we collect information on both the reporting user and reported user.
  • Businesses On WhatsApp. Businesses you interact with using our Services may provide us with information about their interactions with you. We require each of these businesses to act in accordance with applicable law when providing any information to us.When you message with a business on WhatsApp, keep in mind that the content you share may be visible to several people in that business. In addition, some businesses might be working with third-party service providers (which may include Facebook) to help manage their communications with their customers. For example, a business may give such third-party service provider access to its communications to send, store, read, manage, or otherwise process them for the business. To understand how a business processes your information, including how it might share your information with third parties or Facebook, you should review that business’ privacy policy or contact the business directly.

Fact #4 : WhatsApp + Facebook Cannot Read Your Messages

WhatsApp finished implementing end-to-end encryption on 5 April 2016, about 4.5 months before instituting the requirement to share data with Facebook.

Since then, WhatsApp nor Facebook can no longer read your messages, as they are encrypted. Only the sender and receiver(s) can read them.

WhatsApp shares a considerable amount of data and metadata that Facebook can use to identify and track your movements and activities. But not the content of your messages.

Fact #5 : Telegram Is Less Secure!

For those who are fleeing to Telegram, you should note that Telegram does not encrypt messages (only Secret Chats).

In fact, all of your data – messages, photos, videos, documents – are stored in Telegram servers. Even though they are encrypted in storage, Telegram holds the encryption keys, NOT YOU.

In contrast, WhatsApp data is only stored in your devices. WhatsApp also does not retain messages in their servers after they are delivered, and will only store files (like photos and videos) and undelivered messages for 30 days.

WhatsApp will, however, store the time and date of the messages you send and receive.

Fact #6 : Signal Is The Most Secure Alternative

Those who want a more private and secure messenger should opt for Signal, instead of Telegram.

It offers end-to-end encryption using the open-source Signal protocol, the same protocol which WhatsApp uses in its own proprietary format.

On top of that, it offers a Sealed Sender feature which prevents everyone – including Signal – from knowing the sender and recipient of a message.

But best of all, Signal does not share your data with any third-party company. In fact, the only metadata it collects is your phone number, and even that is not linked to your identity.

That said, Signal lacks features found in WhatsApp and Telegram, so we cannot call it the best alternative, only the most secure alternative.

Fact Check : Sungai Buloh Hospital Cramped With Patients?

A viral message, with photos and a video, alleges that Sungai Buloh Hospital is cramped with COVID-19 patients.

Find out what’s going on, and what the FACTS really are!

Claim : Sungai Buloh Hospital Is Cramped With Patients!

This message, with these photos and a video, have gone viral on Facebook and WhatsApp.

It alleges that Sungai Buloh Hospital is filled to the brim, cramped with COVID-19 patients.

From my friend’s wife in Sg Buloh Hospital:

As you all know my wife is an anaesthetist in Sg Buloh Hospital and she has a very depressing message for all of us. She just told me that all Selangor government hospitals emergency departments are now filled with intubated Covid patients who they are not equipped to deal with the situation. Patients as young as early 30s.

She says that there are a few more doctors getting infected in Sg Buloh.

She has advised me to tell everyone to stop eating outside. And do not go out unnecessarily! The virus is now all over the place! Stay safe!

Below is a photo of the cramped sickening situation in the hospital!

The Truth : That Is MAEPS, Not Sungai Buloh Hospital!

The video and photos are genuine, but they are not of the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

They are of the temporary COVID-19 quarantine centre at MAEPS (Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang).

Fact #1 : That Is The MAEPS Quarantine Centre

On 28 March 2020, the Director General of Health Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah announced that MAEPS was being converted into a temporary COVID-19 hospital.

Technically, it is a COVID-19 Quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC), which doubles as a quarantine centre and treatment facility for asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic patients.

This temporary COVID-19 hospital at MAEPS was closed on 15 July 2020 and disassembled after Malaysia flattened the curve.

On 9 December 2020, the Ministry of Health reactivated MAEPS as a COVID-19 Quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC).

Fact #2 : The MAEPS Quarantine Centre Has 10,000 Beds

Dubbed MAEPS PKRC 2.0, it has about 10,000 beds.

It started with 3,000 beds in Phase 1, followed by a 3,300 bed expansion in Phase 2; and finally 3,700 beds in Phase 3.

Fact #3 : The MAEPS Quarantine Centre Is For Patients With Mild Or No Symptoms

The MAEPS quarantine centre is limited to Category 1 (asymptomatic) or Category 2 (mildly symptomatic) patients only.

As such, you will not find any intubated patients, or even an ICU. This is a quarantine centre for mild cases.

Fact #4 : These Photos Were Circulating Since December 2020

These photos have been circulating since mid-December 2020. At that time, netizens were critical of the lack of physical distancing.

The fact of the matter is – only those who tested positive for COVID-19 are quarantined here. There is, therefore, no need for physical distancing.

Hello? WhatsApp Is Already Sharing Data With Facebook!

People are worried that a new WhatsApp privacy policy update will force them to share data with Facebook.

Well, here’s the real surprise – don’t you know that WhatsApp is already doing that?

Find out what’s going on, and what WhatsApp is really changing…

New WhatsApp Privacy Policy : Share Data With Facebook?

Many of you may have woken up to this pop-up on WhatsApp, alerting you to a change in its terms and privacy policy, which takes effect on 8 February 2021.

While you can delay the decision by clicking NOT NOW, you have to accept the new terms and privacy policy, to continue using WhatsApp.

Otherwise, the alert subtly suggests, you should “delete your account”.

Hello? WhatsApp Is Already Sharing Data With Facebook!

Many WhatsApp users are shocked by this new development, and pondering about whether they should jump to Telegram or some other instant messenger.

What’s more egregious though is that many websites are “warning” their readers about this new, shocking development.

The fact of the matter is – WhatsApp has been sharing data with Facebook for years!

In The Beginning : Private Communication Assured

After Facebook bought WhatsApp for a cool US$19 billion, Jan Koum set the record straight on 17 March 2014 :

Respect for your privacy is coded into our DNA, and we built WhatsApp around the goal of knowing as little about you as possible: You don’t have to give us your name and we don’t ask for your email address. We don’t know your birthday. We don’t know your home address. We don’t know where you work. We don’t know your likes, what you search for on the internet or collect your GPS location. None of that data has ever been collected and stored by WhatsApp, and we really have no plans to change that.

2016 : WhatsApp Starts Sharing Data With Facebook

In August 2016, WhatsApp announced that they would start sharing data with Facebook, after rolling out end-to-end encryption.

[B]y coordinating more with Facebook, we’ll be able to do things like track basic metrics about how often people use our services and better fight spam on WhatsApp. And by connecting your phone number with Facebook’s systems, Facebook can offer better friend suggestions and show you more relevant ads if you have an account with them. For example, you might see an ad from a company you already work with, rather than one from someone you’ve never heard of.

At that time, WhatsApp offered existing users a special one-time only option to opt-out of the data sharing, but only if they did it within 30 days.

If you are an existing user, you can choose not to have your WhatsApp account information shared with Facebook to improve your Facebook ads and products experiences. Existing users who accept our updated Terms and Privacy Policy will have an additional 30 days to make this choice by going to Settings > Account.

If you did not opt-out within 30 days back in August 2016, your data would be shared with Facebook.

This opt-out option was NOT provided to new WhatsApp users who registered on or after 25 August 2016.

After 24 September 2016 : WhatsApp Has Been Sharing Data With Facebook

With the singular exception of existing users who managed to opt-out by 24 September 2016, the data of every other WhatsApp user has been shared with Facebook.

8 February 2021 Onwards : More Information Is Shared

What will really change from 8 February 2021 onwards is the additional information that WhatsApp will share with Facebook :

Opted Out In 2016? It Is Still Honoured!

WhatsApp will apparently continue to honour the decision of those who opted-out of data sharing in August 2016.

For those who opted out, you can agree to the new policy, and your data will still NOT be shared with Facebook.

To check if you opted-out in August 2016, you will need to check in your WhatsApp account – Settings > Account > Request Account Info.

Antivaxxers Keep Creating Fake Tiffany Dover Death Claims!

Antivaxxers are still creating and spreading fake death claims about Tiffany Dover, while hounding her family and her!

Find out what’s going on, and what YOU can do to help Tiffany Dover and her family!

Tiffany Dover : Who Is She? What’s Going On?

Here’s a quick primer for those who have not heard of Tiffany Dover, or what has energised anti-vaccination groups recently.

On 17 December 2020, Tiffany Dover fainted on live TV after getting her Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, due to vasovagal syncope – a very common condition.

She recovered within minutes, and explained that it wasn’t a surprise because she often faints when she feels pain.

However, antivaxxers pounced on the incident as evidence that the Pfizer BNT162b2 vaccine is dangerous, sharing edited versions of the video to sow fear, doubt and uncertainty about the vaccine.

Antivaxxers Keep Creating Fake Tiffany Dover Death Claims!

After her fainting episode was explained and the full video was shared, antivaxxers had to switch gears.

They decided to claim that Tiffany Dover later DIED, after recovering from her fainting spell.

Here are three examples…

Joe Leonard

It looks like rumors of Tiffany Dover’s death are TRUE and it is being covered up.

No activity since her highly publicized public vaccination despite regular use of Instagram. No replies to dozens of questions. Family set their profiles to private.

RIP

Kitty Lynn

OMFG! FAINTING NURSE DIED
Tiffany Dover IS DEAD

I saw that fainting nurse died, so I checked it out!
This death record has to be her! Same town, age, and most importantly, the family listed all show up as her friends on fb!

Shannon Haas

BREAKING There is reports Tiffany Dover is dead. She is the nurse who collapsed on live television when being interviewed about the vaccine. We can’t confirm it, we are trying to collect as much intel as possible.
INTEL WE KNOW
– She is from Tennessee
– She collapsed 15+ minutes after taking the Pfizer vaccine on live television
– Her Instagram account is tiffany_dover_ and she hasn’t posted for 5 days, she generally posts every 2-3 days
– There is social media posts about her death from people who were allegedly connected to her or her family
– There is reports of death threats against her family for sharing the info
– There is reports of censorship
– The debunkers are saying it is all false but are providing very little evidence

Someone even created a fake Tiffany Dover memorial page on Instagram (now removed), saying :

She will always be remembered for her bravery. She was a wonderful nurse. #nurse #bravery #covid_19 #tiffanydover #inmemoryof #hospital #alwaysremember

It gained 1650 followers before Instagram finally shut it down. While it was up, antivaxxers used it to promote the claim that she truly did die after being vaccinated with the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.

How To Help Tiffany Dover With These Fake Death Claims

Creating and sharing fake death claims about Tiffany Dover isn’t about “having an open mind” or “just investigating the truth” or “exploring the possibilities“.

This is literally cyberbullying!

And it doesn’t even stop with fake death claims. People are also hounding her family and friends, calling them fake or crisis actors.

Help stop this cyberbullying of Tiffany Dover, her family and her friends, by :

  • sharing such fact check articles, including this and this.
  • telling the truth to those who shared with you those fake claims
  • sharing the fact check links as comments on those fake social media posts
  • DO NOT SHARE those fake social media posts

Why Tiffany Dover Death Claims Are ALL FAKE!

Fact #1 : Tiffany Dover Is Alive And Well!

According to the NewsChannel 9 ABC crew who recorded the whole event on 17 December 2020, Tiffany Dover quickly recovered, and within minutes, was able to get up and speak with them again.

While antivaxxers are claiming that she subsequently died, those are complete lies. She did NOT die.

Her hospital – CHI Memorial – posted this tweet two days later, confirming that she is well, asking that people give her and her family privacy.

Fact #2 : Tiffany Dover Alive And Well On Video, 4 Days Later!

On 21 December 2020, CHI Memorial followed up with a short video showing that she is alive and well, surrounded by her colleagues.

To prove that it was not filmed before her vaccination and alleged “death”, they held up banners that said, “Nursing Leadership Vaccinated Together, #CHIMemorialStrong” and the date “12-21-20“.

Fact #3 : People Found The Wrong Death Record

Conspiracy theorists and antivaxxers are parading online search results showing her death record.

Many searched Tiffany Dover in the wrong state, because they thought she was a nurse in Alabama. Is it any wonder she got the wrong death record?

Some even assumed that SearchQuarry lists only dead people. It’s actually a search engine for public records in the United States.

With such amazing keyboard investigators, who needs the FBI?

Fact #4 : Tiffany Dover Is Not A Unique Name

As unique as Tiffany Dover surely is as a person, her name isn’t unique.

In the entire US, there are currently 47 Tiffany Dovers, with nine of them in Tennessee. And no, they are NOT CLONES, as some people are alleging.

And they do not include Tiffany Dovers who have actually passed away years or even decades ago.

Fact #5 : People Are Not Obligated To Be Active On Social Media

Skeptics like Shannon Haas claim that she must be dead because “she hasn’t posted for 5 days” even though “she generally posts every 2-3 days“.

First of all, NO ONE is obligated to post anything on social media, much less maintain their activity level.

Secondly, a lack of updates does NOT mean she is dead. Some of us actually have lives, like a real social life outside of social media?

Let’s not forget that she’s a nurse manager in CHI Memorial, which is not only actively treating COVID-19 patients, they are also working to administer the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

So is it really that surprising if she has been too busy to update your stalkers with her latest selfies?

But since you are so “concerned” about her well-being, here’s a photo of Tiffany Dover with her CHI Memorial colleagues on 21 December 2020 :

Fact #6 : Claims Of Reports Are Just Claims, Not Actual Evidence

People like Shannon Haas, Joe Leonard and Kitty Lynn are not true skeptics. They are just too damn lazy to go beyond making unverified claims on social media.

He claimed that there are “reports of death threats against her family for sharing the info” and “reports of censorship“.

But when a friend asked for links for those reports, he could only reply, “Not sure.” I kid you not.

Yet, he had no qualms claiming too that “debunkers are saying it is all false but are providing very little evidence“.

If you see claims like that, WITHOUT EVIDENCE, please treat it the same way you would if someone told you he/she can fly without wings.

With the utmost skepticism : Yeah, sure, bro… sure… preferably with a middle finger.

Can Donald Trump Really Blame Iran For Rocket Attack?

Donald Trump just accused Iran of the rocket attack on the US embassy in Baghdad, threatening retaliation!

Take a look at the picture of three rockets he posted, and find out what the facts really are!

Donald Trump : Iran Responsible For Rocket Attack On US Embassy

Even in the waning days of his Presidency, Donald Trump isn’t quite done with Iran.

In a new threat against the Islamic Republic of Iran, Trump posted a picture of three unfired rockets, which he claimed were from Iran.

Our embassy in Baghdad got hit Sunday by several rockets. Three rockets failed to launch. Guess where they were from: IRAN. Now we hear chatter of additional attacks against Americans in Iraq…Some friendly health advice to Iran: If one American is killed, I will hold Iran responsible. Think it over.

As Trump isn’t a very popular president outside of his fanatical base (no kidding), there is much skepticism about his post.

Some have pointed out that the rockets have English markings and could be American-made. Others wonder if these are even rockets – they look more like large versions of a rifle cartridge than rockets.

Rocket Attack On US Embassy : A Quick Primer

Before we look into the veracity of Trump’s claims, here’s a quick primer on the rocket attack on the US embassy in Baghdad, Iraq.

At around 8:30 PM on Sunday, 20 December 2020, approximately 21 rockets were fired on the US embassy in Baghdad.

Only about half of the rockets hit the embassy compound, while the others missed and hit an Iraqi apartment complex and vehicles near the embassy.

In the end, two buildings and a gym in the embassy, vehicles outside the embassy and a generator at the apartment complex, were damaged.

There was only one injury – an Iraqi soldier – no one else died or were injured by the attack.

Is Iran Responsible For Rocket Attack On US Embassy?

Unfortunately, the answer isn’t quite so simple as yes or no, Iran did or did not fire those rockets at the US embassy in Baghdad.

Let’s take a look at the facts…

Fact #1 : Those Are 107 mm Haseb Rockets

The Haseb is an Iranian copy of the Chinese Type 63-2 – a spin-stabilised 107 mm rocket with a high-explosive (HE) warhead.

The entire rocket weighs about 18 kg, with an 8 kg cast TNT warhead and a Chinese MJ-1 (Jiàn-1) impact and graze fuse.

Fact #2 : Iran Manufactures + Uses 107mm Haseb Rockets

Haseb rockets are manufactured by Iran’s Armaments Industries Group (AIG), and used by Iranian forces as a short-ranged barrage weapon.

In this picture, IRGC commandos are seen loading a Type 63 rocket launcher mounted onto a pickup truck.

Fact #3 : The English Markings Are Genuine

Some sharp-eyed netizens noticed that rockets have English words on them, instead of Farsi or Arabic words :

107mm ROCKET
LOT : 573
DATE : 2016
N.W : 18kg
R.No. : 2103

This has led to suggestions that the rockets may be fake, or made by Americans themselves, or replicas of the real rockets used in a false flag operation.

Here you can see the actual rockets (on the left) and inert replicas of the Haseb rockets. No doubt they look very similar.

However, there is really no need for the US military to purchase replicas even for a false flag operation. Many Haseb rockets have been captured over the years.

The English markings do not mean they are American-made. The Haseb rocket is also made for export by Iran’s Armaments Industries Group (AIG), and so uses English markings.

The inert replica above has English markings, because the real Haseb rockets have English markings.

Fact #4 : Haseb Rockets Have A Very Short Range

Haseb rockets have a very short range – up to 9 kilometres, and are not very accurate.

That means they would have to be fired very close to the Baghdad Green Zone in order to have a reasonable chance of hitting the US embassy inside.

Any suggestion that Iranian forces fired them inside Baghdad itself would be ludicrous. Even if Iran wanted to strike at the Americans, they would use an allied militant group to make attribution difficult.

Fact #5 : Attribution Is Difficult

The Haseb rockets are not exclusively used by Iranian forces. They are exported to Iranian auxiliary forces and allied militant groups like the Hezbollah.

So it would not be possible for the United States to directly attribute the rocket attack to Iran, unless they capture the people who actually fired the rockets.

It could also be a rogue militant group, or even a false flag action by a rival nation-state. After all, numerous examples of the Haseb rocket have been captured by other militant groups and even countries like Israel.

In fact, Gen. Frank McKenzie, who leads the US Central Command and once warned that American forces imminent threat from Iran specifically told The Wall Street Journal,

I do not know the degree to which Iran is complicit. We do not seek a war, and I don’t actually believe they seek one either.

Even Iran-backed Kataib Hezbollah described the rocket attack on the US embassy as “undisciplined“.

Fact #6 : We Don’t Know Who Owned Those Rockets

The three Haseb rockets that Donald Trump posted were obviously not fired.

But whether they “failed to launch” as Trump claimed, or were simply captured unfired, is unknown. Trump likely can’t tell the difference.

Unless the rocketeers were captured together with these three rockets, it would be impossible to also attribute the rocket attack to any particular group, never mind Iran.

Even so, the mere possession of these rockets does not mean that they actually launched that particular attack.

Did Pfizer Use A Toxic Placebo In COVID-19 Vaccine Trial?

Did Pfizer use a toxic placebo in their COVID-19 vaccine trial, killing 4 people, just to make their vaccine look safer?

Find out what’s going on, and what the FACTS really are!

Did Pfizer Use A Toxic Placebo In COVID-19 Vaccine Trial?

Antivaxxers are claiming that Pfizer used a toxic placebo in their COVID-19 vaccine trial, to make their vaccine look safer than it really is.

They believe that Pfizer injected the placebo group with toxins, killing four of the volunteers in the process. This was done intentionally to make the two deaths in the vaccine group look safe in comparison.

Here is one example of the claims being shared on social media and instant messengers like WhatsApp :

Six people died in Pfizer’s late-stage trial of the COVID-19 #vaccine, the US Food and Drug Administration has revealed just hours after Britain became the first country in the world to roll out the vaccine. (4 of the 6 died from the placebo injection, why would #Pfizer have to use a deadly #placebo, short of manipulating data by attempting to reduce the appearance of the induced cytokine storm from injected toxins compared by skewed contrast to even deadlier toxins!?)

One of the vaccine recipients had a cardiac arrest 62 days after a second dose of the two-dose vaccination and died three days later. The other died from arteriosclerosis three days after a first dose of the vaccination. One of the placebo recipients died from myocardial infarction, another from haemorrhagic stroke and two others from “unknown causes”.

Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine Placebo : The Facts

NO, Pfizer did not use a toxic placebo to skew the vaccine trial results, and here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : The Placebo Was Just Saline

A placebo is, by definition, a substance meant to have no therapeutic effect.

So it comes to no surprise that Pfizer used normal saline (NS) as the placebo in their COVID-19 vaccine trial.

Normal saline is a common salt solution of 0.90% w/v of sodium chloride (NaCL), frequently used in intravenous drips.

However, the small amount injected as placebo has no effect on the body. Exactly what a placebo is meant to do.

Fact #2 : Correlation Is Not Causation

As we earlier pointed out in our articles on the Pfizer vaccine causing Bell’s palsy or deathscorrelation does not imply causation.

Even though four people died after receiving the placebo, we simply cannot say that the placebo killed them.

For example, if you get pregnant after getting the COVID-19 vaccine, does it mean that the vaccine made you pregnant? Of course, not.

Here are three examples of why correlation is NOT the same thing as causation.

Fact #3 : The Deaths Were Within Normal Rates

People die every day, and in the United States, about 2.8 million people died in 2018 – an average of 7,779 every single day.

  • Overall mortality rate : 0.8678% of population per year
  • From heart disease : 0.200% of population per year
  • From cancer : 0.183% of population per year
  • From accidents : 0.051% of population per year
  • From stroke : 0.045% of population per year

A total of 37,796 people participated in the safety phase of the Pfizer BNT162b2 vaccine trial, divided equally into 18,904 people (BNT162b2 vaccine), and 18,892 people (placebo).

Based on the normal mortality rate, we would expect 164 people from each cohort (vaccine or placebo) to die from “natural causes” this year, or 82 people in the roughly 6 month trial period.

Yet only 4 people died after taking the placebo, instead of the expected 82. That’s a mortality rate of just 0.021%41X lower than the normal mortality rate.

Does that mean normal saline placebo protected them from natural causes of death? Again, correlation does not imply causation.

Fact #4 : The Deaths Were Of Natural Causes

The US FDA briefing document also laid out the causes of two of those four deaths :

  • Placebo recipient #1 : myocardial infarction
  • Placebo recipient #2 : haemorrhage stroke
  • Placebo recipients #3 and #4 : unknown causes

As you can see, the two deaths are completely unrelated to any normal saline or vaccine injections. More importantly, there’s no indication they died of any toxins.

When they list the cause of the other two cases as unknown, it doesn’t mean there’s a cover-up. People do just die of natural causes.

Did China Create This Amazing Female Dancing Robot?

Did China create this amazing female dancing robot for a dance show in Shanghai?

Watch the viral video for yourself, and find out what the FACTS really are!

Did China Create This Amazing Dancing Robot?

Here is the video that countless people have been sharing on social media and even on YouTube. It is often paired with a short explanation in (broken) English.

Can u believe that this female dancer is robot ? The dance was held in Shanghai n it lasted only 5 minutes but the queue was 4hrs n cost 499 Yuan!

It has surpassed Japan in complexity, and saw its perfect facial expressions. Send this video to everyone to watch, let us enjoy together…

Amazing Female Dancing Robot : The Truth

The agility and grace of this female dancing robot, and its facial expressions, are incredible.

The less gullible would point out that it is something you would only expect from a real human being, and they would be right.

Fact #1 : That Is A Video Of A WDSF Competition

That is actually a video clip from the 2018 World Dance Sport Federation Championship in Lithuania.

The initials WDSF (World Dance Sport Federation) can be seen, together with the recording date at the upper left corner of the video.

Fact #2 : The Dance Only Lasted A Minute

The dance in the video only lasted just over a minute, even though the accompanying fake message claimed it lasted for 5 minutes.

Fact #3 : Those Are Lithuanian Dance Champions

Both dancers are very human. In fact, they are Lithuanian dance champions Ieva Zukauskaite (female), and Evaldas Sodeika (male).

Fact #4 : 499 Yuan Was The Entry Price To Shanghai Disneyland

The fake story claimed that the ticket to watch this performance costs 499 Yuan – about US$73 / £55 / RM303. That would be ridiculously exorbitant for a short dance.

In truth, that was “copied” from the two earlier hoaxes (here and here) about robot dancers at the Shanghai Disneyland.

Even that was not accurate, because 499 Yuan was the cost of an entry ticket to the Shanghai Disneyland when it first opened in February 2016.

Since 6 June 2018, it has been priced at 399 Yuan (off-peak), 575 Yuan (peak) and 665 Yuan (peak holiday).

Why Would Someone Create This Fake Story?

With China’s aggressive foreign stance in recent years, it is not uncommon to see such fake stories being created and shared.

Some believe it’s part of a concerted attempt to burnish China’s image overseas.

Others believe the many fake stories are being created to drown out the negative coverage of China’s controversial Belt and Road Initiative, and their aggressive moves in the South China Sea.

Whatever the reasons may be, it is our duty as global citizens to stop the proliferation of such fake stories.

Please share this fact check with your friends, so they know the truth!
