AMD Wraith Prism Preview – A Swirling Vortex Of Colour!

The 2nd Gen Ryzen processors not only feature a number of new features and enhancements, they are also cheaper and now come bundled with an AMD CPU cooler. AMD also introduced a new CPU cooler for the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X (Price Check) processor – the AMD Wraith Prism.

In this article, we will take a close look at the AMD Wraith Prism, and see why we are all so excited about this swirling vortex of colour!

AMD Wraith Prism – A Swirling Vortex Of Colour!

James Prior (AMD Senior Product Manager) revealed at the Bangkok preview that the no. 1 piece of feedback they received was that Ryzen fans wanted a “swirling vortex of colour directly into their eyeballs“. LOL!

So AMD took their Wraith Max cooler, added a rainbow LED ring, and topped it up with LED-illuminated fan blades – all in RGB glory!

It’s not just a pretty version of the Wraith Max though. AMD made other improvements to the Wraith Prism :

[adrotate group=”2″]

  • Direct Contact Heat Pipes – The four heat pipes are now part of the copper base, in direct contact with the CPU. This allows for far better thermal transfer from the CPU to the heat pipes.
  • Enhanced Compatibility – The heatsink profile was reshaped to ensure compatibility with smaller motherboards.
  • Dark Mode for RGB Heathens – If the swirling vortex of colour in your eyeball is blinding you, yes, you can turn it off! 🙂
  • Switchable Overclock Fan Profile – In the standard quiet operation mode, the fan has a 39 dBA noise level. But if you need more cooling, you can kick it up a notch!

AMD Wraith Prism In Action!

Here, you can see the AMD Wraith Prism in action, cooling the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X (Price Check) on our X470 AORUS Gaming 7 WiFi (Price Check) testbed.

GELID Rev. 4 Tranquillo CPU Cooler Launched

HONG KONG, 19 May 2016 – Thermal Solutions specialist GELID Solutions unveils the latest version of the multi-award winner Tranquillo. The Rev. 4 Tranquillo is a product of GELID Solution SILENT product line.

GELID Rev. 4 Tranquillo

The engineers of GELID Solutions have improved the last Rev. 3 Tranquillo in almost every aspect. Like the original design the Rev. 4 Tranquillo uses 4 power heat pipes and a unique heat pipe constellation but also comes with a number of new technologies implemented to achieve higher cooling performance. The Rev. 4 Tranquillo features the Heatpipe Direct Touch Technology, a direct thermal connection between CPU core and heat pipes.

The new heatsink is also improved with the Unique Heatsink Shape Technology, the result of precise software simulations and calculations which makes the air flow resistance of the new heatsink much lower. The Stacked Soldered Heatpipe and Fin Technology provides the best quality of soldered joints between heatpipe to fins and ensures the most efficient heat transfer inside the new heatsink.
An improved 120mm fan with the intelligent GELID PWM (Pulse Width Module) control compliments the heatsink. The new Double Layer Blade technology is applied to distribute air flow efficiently at low speed. The redesigned PWM IC eliminates any clicking noise. The intelligent GELID PWM curve operates the fan in speed range from 750 RPM to 1600 RPM, it constantly keeps the fan silent but accelerates speed whenever additional cooling is needed.

With the 2 sets of fan mounts, a second fan can be installed to improve the cooler performance even further. Additionally, the multi-award winning high performance GC Pro thermal compound is already included in the package. Mounting clips for multiple AMD CPU sockets AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, FM1, FM2 and for Intel CPU LGA 775, 1366, 1155, 1156, 1150, 1151 sockets, as well as back plates for AMD and Intel mainboards are all included too.

AMD Wraith Cooler Delivers Better Cooling With Less Noise

February 2, 2016 – AMD officially launched the AMD Wraith cooler, which they claim delivers better cooling with less noise. They also announced a new AMD 95 W quiet cooler, which also offers quieter performance. Let’s take a look!

The AMD Wraith Cooler

The AMD Wraith cooler features a heatsink with 24% more surface area, and a more powerful fan that delivers 34% more airflow. Yet it generates less than 1/10th of the noise of the previous cooler. That’s why they called it the Wraith.

The only downside? AMD will only be bundling it with the AMD FX 8370 processor. AMD will actually offer two versions of the AMD FX 8370 :

  • AMD FX 8370 with the Wraith cooler at the price of the previous AMD FX 8370 with a standard cooler.
  • AMD FX 8370 with a standard cooler at a new, lower price.

The New AMD 95 W Quiet Cooler

AMD also introduced a new and improved 95 W quiet cooler for the newly-launched AMD A10-7860 and AMD Athlon X4 845 processors. They promise that it will be almost as quiet as the AMD Wraith cooler.

AMD will also offer an improved cooler with selected AMD processor models. They will offer better performance and lower noise levels, just not at the same level as the AMD Wraith cooler or the new AMD 95 W quiet cooler.
