Telegram : How To Move Chat History From Other Apps

Telegram just introduced the ability to import chat history from other messaging apps.

Find out how to move your chat history from other messaging apps to Telegram!

Telegram Now Lets You Move Chat History From Other Apps

Telegram has been very active trying to encourage disgruntled WhatsApp users to migrate to their messaging app.

On 28 January 2021, Telegram introduced the ability to import chat history from other messaging apps like WhatsApp, Line and KakaoTalk.

This feature works for both individual chats and chat groups, and leverages the export function already available in those messaging apps for years now.

Before you proceed, we should warn you about the security risks of moving your chats to Telegram :

  • it lacks end-to-end encryption for all chats, except Secret Chat
  • your data – chats and files – are all stored in their cloud servers
  • your data is encrypted in storage, but Telegram has the encryption keys

You can read more about the risks in Why You Should NOT Move WhatsApp Chats To Telegram!

Telegram : How To Move Chat History From Other Apps

This video example demonstrates how to migrate your chats and files from WhatsApp to Telegram on iOS (left), and Android (right). It should work the same way for the other apps.

Moving Chats On iOS

  1. Make sure you have the latest versions of WhatsApp and Telegram.
  2. Open WhatsApp.
  3. Open Contact Info or Group Info.
  4. Tap Export Chat.
  5. Choose to Include Media or export Without Media.
  6. Select Telegram in the Share menu.

Moving Chats On Android

  1. Make sure you have the latest versions of WhatsApp and Telegram.
  2. Open WhatsApp.
  3. Tap on the ⋮ icon.
  4. Select More > Export Chat.
  5. Choose to Include Media or export Without Media.
  6. Select Telegram in the Share menu.

As you can see, it’s pretty simple. But you have to do it for every chat or chat group.

You cannot do a mass export and import of all chats from WhatsApp (or other messaging apps) to Telegram.

MeeTime : Free Voice + Video Calls On HUAWEI Devices!

Apple has FaceTime, and now, HUAWEI has MeeTime, offering FREE video and voice calls.

Find out what features HUAWEI MeeTime offers over its competitors!

HUAWEI MeeTime : What Is It?

Like Apple FaceTime, HUAWEI MeeTime is a proprietary video and voice service that FREE video and voice calls, albeit only on their respective devices.

HUAWEI introduced MeeTime in EMUI 10.1, and it currently works with HUAWEI devices like :

But unlike claims of free Internet and calls through BeiDou, MeeTime actually delivers free voice and video calls.

HUAWEI MeeTime : Key Features

Of course, you can already make free voice and video calls on other apps, like WhatsApp and Telegram. So let’s find out what features HUAWEI MeeTime offers over their competitors :

Feature #1 : Full HD Quality

HUAWEI MeeTime supports video calling at resolutions of up to 1080p (Full HD) – 1920 x 1080 pixels.

And thanks to built-in optimisations (see below), it can maintain that video resolution even with weak cellular or Wi-Fi reception.

Feature #2 : Screen Sharing

HUAWEI MeeTime has a two-way Screen Sharing function that lets users share their screens while chatting, which can be extremely useful.

For instance, you can use it to share what flights you just found with your partner, without sending it as a separate message, or interrupting the chat.

Feature #3 : Third Party Support

While HUAWEI MeeTime is a proprietary technology limited to HUAWEI devices, they are encouraging third party vendors to integrate their devices. For example :

  • Kandao Meeting 360° : You can connect your HUAWEI device to this Kandao teleconferencing camera to take advantage of its pro-grade features.
  • Drift Ghost Action Cameras : You can connect your HUAWEI smartphone to a Drift Ghost camera strapped to your vehicle to livestream your adventures.

Feature #4 : Network Adaptation

In poor network conditions, HUAWEI MeeTime dynamically adapts to changes in bandwidth, and uses super resolution technology to compensate for the loss of video quality, in real time.

In addition, it uses the Link Turbo technology to dynamically switch between Wi-Fi and LTE to deliver the best possible speeds, without interruption.

Feature #5 : Low Light Adaptation

HUAWEI MeeTime adapts dynamically to low light conditions, using facial recognition technology and other optimisations.

Feature #6 : End-to-End Encryption

In addition to working only on HUAWEI devices, HUAWEI MeeTime requires you to sign-in with a HUAWEI ID.

To assuage concerns of privacy, all calls are encrypted end-to-end by default. This guarantees that no one else can listen into your conversations.

The New Microsoft Teams Collaborative Chat Is Now Available!

Redmond, Wash. 2 November 2016Microsoft Corp. on Wednesday unveiled Microsoft Teams, a new chat-based workspace that further enhances the collaboration capabilities in Microsoft Office 365, the cloud-based productivity offering with more than 85 million monthly active commercial users. Microsoft Teams brings together people, conversations, content and the tools teams need to collaborate.

“At Microsoft we aim to empower every person and organization with the technology to be more productive as individuals and in groups,” said Satya Nadella, CEO, Microsoft. “Office 365 is the broadest toolkit and platform for creation, communication and collaboration. Microsoft Teams adds a new experience to Office 365 as the chat-based workspace designed to empower the art of teams.”

Microsoft Teams is Built on Four Core Promises:

  • Chat for today’s teams. Microsoft Teams provides persistent, threaded chat to keep everyone engaged and informed. Team conversations are visible to the entire team by default, and the experience also offers private chat capabilities. A library of emojis, GIFs, custom stickers and memes gives people a fun way to express personality within their digital workspace.
  • A hub for teamwork. Microsoft Teams brings together the full breadth and depth of Office 365. People can start voice and video meetings, as well as work with Microsoft Office documents, directly within the Microsoft Teams experience. The Microsoft Graph enables intelligence to help with information relevance, discovery and sharing. Microsoft Teams is also built on Office 365 Groups, the cross-application membership service that makes it easy for people to move naturally from one collaboration tool to another, preserve their sense of context and share with others.
  • Customizable for each team. Because every team is unique, Microsoft Teams offers the ability for teams to customize the experience to meet their specific needs. Team members can create channels to organize conversations by topic. They can customize channels with a feature called Tabs, which provide quick access to frequently used documents and applications. Tabs can be created for Office 365 services like OneNote, SharePoint and Planner, or third-party solutions, such as Zendesk and Asana coming soon. Microsoft Teams supports the same Connector model as Exchange to bring notifications and updates from third-party services, such as Twitter or GitHub available Wednesday, directly into the experience. In addition, it supports the Microsoft Bot Framework to bring intelligent first- and third-party services into the team environment. The preview of the Microsoft Teams Developer Preview, also announced today, gives developers the opportunity to start building integrations with Microsoft Teams right away.
  • Security that teams trust. As part of Office 365, Microsoft Teams offers the global scale and advanced security and compliance capabilities provided by the Microsoft Cloud. Data is encrypted at all times and covered by a transparent operational model with no standing access to customer data. Multifactor authentication provides enhanced identity protection to help ensure data stays safe within the team. In addition, Microsoft Teams will support key compliance and data protection standards, such as the data processing terms with European Union Model Clauses, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act business associate agreement (HIPAA BAA), ISO 27001, ISO 27018, and SSAE 16 SOC 1 and 2 report.

The preview is available in 181 countries and 18 languages. Office 365 IT administrators can enable Microsoft Teams for their organization from the Office 365 admin center.
