The Samsung SR75 Space Monitor

The Samsung Space Monitor is designed to put an end to messy desks – and space-hogging screens – once and for all. How does it accomplish that?

Wall Hugging Design

The Samsung SR75 Space Monitor was designed to reduce clutter and maximise desk space. Borrowing from Samsung’s premium TVs, it uses a wall-hugging design that creates more table space.

Just how much room does the Space Monitor free up? Compared to a conventional monitor of equivalent size, the SR75 offers users up to 40% more usable surface area on your desk!

Zero-Level HAS

The Samsung SR75 Space Monitor has a zero-level HAS (height adjustable stand). It allows you to quickly and easily raise or lower the display to whatever position is most comfortable or suitable.

The SR75 has a large adjustment span of 8.4 inches above the desk, all the way down to surface level. This makes it easy for you to switch between using the display, and putting it away to work at your desk.

Hidden Cable Storage

Borrowing from Samsung TV’s designs, the Samsung SR75 Space Monitor keeps the cables discreetly hidden from view using a groove in its stand. Yet its ports are readily accessible.

The stand also has an integrated clamp at the base, that allows the SR75 to be securely attached desks and tables of different thickness.

Samsung is offering two models with slightly different performance characteristics :

a 27-inch model with a WQHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, and a 144 Hz refresh rate
a 32-inch model with a 4K UHD resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels,

The 49″ Samsung CRG9 Super-Wide QLED Monitor

The new Samsung CRG9 is the world’s first super ultra-wide gaming monitor with a 32:9 aspect ratio. As it represents the leading edge of Samsung gaming monitor capabilities, it is filled with the latest gaming technologies.

Super Ultra-Wide Curved Dual QHD Display

The Samsung CRG9 most noticeable feature is its super ultra-wide display, which has a 32:9 display ratio and a Dual QHD resolution of 5120 x 1440 pixels. That is equivalent to two 27-inch QHD displays placed side-by-side. To make it even more immersive, the panel has a 1800R screen curvature.

QLED Panel With HDR10 Support

The use of Samsung QLED technology allows the Samsung CRG9 monitor to deliver 95% of the DCI-P3 colour space. The panel also supports HDR10 with a peak brightness of 1000 nits, and local dimming capabilities.

AMD Radeon FreeSync 2

Samsung CRG9 has a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, with a 4 ms response time.. It supports AMD Radeon FreeSync 2, which reduces stuttering, screen tearing and input latency. It also features Low Framerate Compensation (LFC) for smoother gameplay.

PBP + Eye Saver Mode

The Samsung CRG9 has Picture-by-Picture (PBP) capability, allowing you to simultaneously view two video sources at the same time. This means, you can display a movie (or CCTV feed), while playing a game at the same time!

To help ensure your comfort, the CRG9 has an Eye Saver Mode and Flicker Free technology to minimise blue light emissions and screen flickering.

LG Alpha 9 Gen 2 Processor

The new 2019 LG Z9, W9, E9 and C9 TV models are powered by their new Alpha 9 Gen 2 (α9 Gen 2) intelligent processor. Using deep learning algorithms, the new processor delivers a higher level of AI picture and sound experience quality.

The new machine learning algorithms in the 2019 LG TVs offer enhanced picture and sound by analysing the content source in order to recognize the ambient conditions around the TV to deliver more optimized content.

The new processor finely adjusts the tone mapping curve in accordance with ambient conditions to offer optimized screen brightness, leveraging its ability to understand how the human eye perceives images in different lighting. The processor uses the TV’s ambient light sensor to measure light levels, automatically adjusting brightness to compensate as needed.

The α9 Gen 2 AI can further refine HDR content by adjusting the brightness to transform even the darkest scenes into ones with incredible contrast, detail and depth of color, even in brightly-lit rooms. And by leveraging Dolby’s latest imaging innovation which intelligently adjusts Dolby Vision content, LG TVs deliver a better HDR experience under varying ambient light.

Amazon Alexa + Google Assistant Support

The 2019 LG TV range will support Amazon Alexa in addition to the built-in Google Assistant. This allows you to enjoy the ease of conversational voice recognition and an intuitive Home Dashboard to control a wide variety of smart home devices directly from the TV.

By pressing the Amazon Prime Video button on the Magic Remote, users can manage smart home devices, ask questions and access tens of thousands of skills and even set up their ideal Alexa Routine complete with wake-up call, traffic information and favorite TV channel switching all with their voice.

Virtual 5.1 Surround Sound

Sound quality is augmented by an intelligent algorithm that can up-mix two-channel audio to deliver convincing virtual 5.1 surround sound.

The α9 Gen 2 optimizes output based on content type, making voices clearer in movies, dramas and news broadcasts, among others.

Users can adjust sound settings to suit room conditions or let their LG TV intelligently set the perfect levels based on its positioning.

2019 LG NanoCell TV

The 2019 LG premium LCD TVs lineup – SM9X and SM8X series – will be rolled out with a new name: NanoCell TV, to better highlight the features provided by NanoCell technology :

NanoColor : picture enhancement
NanoAccuracy : color accuracy in wide viewing angle
NanoBezel : ultra-narrow thin bezel with sleek design

And through the inclusion of HDMI 2.1 ports, all 2019 OLED TVs and selected NanoCell TVs with ThinQ AI will support high frame rate (HFR). The result is smoother and clearer motion at 120 frames per second for better rendering of fast-action content such as sports and action movies.

Support for enhanced audio return channel (eARC) will enable home theatre enthusiasts to seamlessly utilise HDMI connectivity and enjoy the highest quality audio formats available with superb detail and depth.

The 2019 Area-51m with Legend Design From Alienware

The reimagined 2019 Area-51m is Alienware’s most powerful, upgradeable gaming laptop. It is their first and only laptop with an 8-core 9th Gen Intel Core i9 desktop processor, the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics, 64 GB of memory, and 2.5 Gbps Ethernet technology.

All that is kept cool using cutting-edge thermal and cooling technology. Alienware promises it will deliver 50% more performance in a 32% smaller form factor than its predecessor. Yet, it still comes with a 17-inch narrow bezel display with a 144 Hz refresh rate.

Alienware Legend Design

The new Alienware Legend design takes cues from sci-fi culture and early industrial designs.

It features improved AlienFX lighting, ultra-thin screen borders, and a new “three-knuckle hinge” design. The new hinge design reduces overall dimensions, while creating a stronger assembly.

Internally, Alienware laptops with the new Legend design are optimised with cutting-edge thermal and cooling technology to ensure sustained overclocking capability.

2019 Area-51m Price + Availability

The 2019 Area-51m with Legend design will introduce two optional finishes – Lunar Light and Dark Side of the Moon.

It will be available in the US, starting 29 January 2019, with a starting price of $2,549.

It will arrive in Malaysia, some time at the end of February 2019. Its local price is yet unknown. We will update the article, as and when we receive new information from Dell.

Dell just revealed the 2019 Dell XPS 13 (9380) ultra-thin laptop with a new top-mounted webcam, and frost colour option!

The 2019 Dell XPS 13 (9380) Ultra-Thin Laptop

The 2018 Dell XPS 13 (9370) was an impressive example of design and engineering. Dell improved the 2019 model (9380) with a new top-mounted webcam, and a new frost colour option.

By reducing its size to just 2.25 mm, Dell was able to fit the new HD webcam into the top of the InfinityEdge display for a better video experience.

Boasting the latest quad-core 8th Gen Intel Core processors, it will use the same GORE thermal insulation that was first introduced in the 2018 Dell XPS 13. It uses the same silica aerogel used on the Mars Rover and Stardust Probe.

New to the 2019 model is its support for Dolby Vision. The 2019 Dell XPS 13 is the first Dell laptop to deliver industry-leading HDR experience through Dolby Vision.

2019 Dell XPS 13 (9380) Price + Availability

The 2019 Dell XPS 13 offers an even brighter arctic white woven glass fibre interior, with a new frost anodised exterior colour option. But if you still want the old colour options, they are still available – rose gold and white, or black and silver.

The 2019 Dell XPS 13 (9380) will be available for sale in February 2019, with prices starting at US$899.99 in the US, and RM 5,909 here in Malaysia.

At CES 2019, Dell revealed the 13-inch and 15-inch 2019 Dell Inspiron 7000 2-in-1 laptops that boast a new Adaptive Thermal technology and a hinge bay for its Active Pen!

The 2019 Dell Inspiron 7000 2-in-1 Laptops

The new 13” and 15” 2019 Inspiron 7000 2-in-1 devices are powered by the latest 8th Gen Intel Core processors, with new Adaptive Thermal technology.

The Dell Adaptive Thermal technology is designed to switch its performance profile based on how you hold the laptop! It will, for example, switch to a lower power profile to generate less heat when you are watching movies on a lap, and ramp up to full power when you are working on a desk.

It has an aluminium body with narrow borders and a diamond-cut finish on the touchpad edge. Its hinge has a first-of-its-kind bay for a full-sized Active Pen.

In addition, the 2019 Dell Inspiron 7000 series 2-in-1 devices have a new keyboard with a new power key that has a built-in fingerprint sensor. This allows Dell to actually fit a number pad into the 15-inch model, for the first time.

Dell has not revealed its price points for the 13-inch and 15-inch 2019 Dell Inspiron 7000 models, but they have scheduled their availability for June or July 2019.

As the smallest commercial 14-inch 2-in-1 laptop in the industry, the new Dell Latitude 7400 2-in-1 boasts a sixth sense – the ability to be ready to go before you even touch it!

It is the first PC to use a proximity sensor enabled by Intel Context Sensing Technology.. Using ExpressSign-in which detects your presence, the proximity sensor wakes the system, and immediately scans for your facial recognition to log in with Windows Hello.

Even when you step away for a break, the Latitude 7400 2-in-1 will recognise that you have left and automatically lock itself to preserve battery life and maintain security.

Leading-Edge Engineering

The Dell Latitude 7400 2-in-1 comes with a variable-torque hinge for easy opening with one finger. It also boasts a new thermal solution with an aerogel-infused GORE material, for better cooling performance.

It boasts a Titan Gray machined aluminium finish, and a magnesium alloy bottom cover that is coated with soft-touch paint. It will also be the first Latitude laptop to use Dell’s ocean-bound plastics packaging.

24-Hour Battery Life

Despite its small footprint, the Dell Latitude 7400 2-in-1 is expected to deliver the longest battery life in its class based on preliminary testing. Dell is a battery life of up to 24 hours on a single charge.

If that’s not enough, it supports ExpressCharge, which will get its battery charged back up to 80% in just an hour.

The Dell Latitude 7400 2-in-1 has a starting price of US$ 1,599.

AMD just announced their first slew of 2019 mobile processors – the 2nd Gen AMD Ryzen 3000 Series Mobile Processors, the AMD Athlon 300 Series Mobile Processors, and optimised 7th Gen AMD A-Series mobile processors.

The First Slew Of 2019 Mobile Processors

These new AMD mobile processors cover the entire gamut of laptops for 2019.

The 2nd Gen AMD Ryzen 3000 Series Mobile Processors is meant to power ultra-thin and gaming notebooks, while the AMD Athlon 300 Series Mobile Processors powers mainstream notebooks; and the optimised 7th Gen AMD A-Series processors targeting mainstream Chromebooks.

Built on the 12 nm manufacturing process, the AMD Ryzen 3000 Series Mobile Processors will offer better performance and battery life :

AMD is also offering Zen-based Athlon 300 Series Mobile Processors, slated to be available from global OEMs in early 2019.

7th Gen AMD A-Series Gets New Life!

First introduced 2.5 years ago, the 7^th Gen AMD A-Series mobile APUs soldiers on, with two new models being introduced at CES 2019 – the AMD A6-9220C and the AMD A4-9120C. They are being promoted for use in Chromebooks.

At CES 2019, Samsung revealed their new Micro LED technology, which were introduced in a new 75-inch TV display, a 219-inch The Wall, and even a modular Micro LED display!

The New Samsung Micro LED TV Displays

The new Samsung Micro LED panels are built from microscopic inorganic LED chips that individually emit red, green and blue light. This allows them to deliver a new level of picture quality.

The Micro LED technology was first introduced at CES 2018, in the 146-inch The Wall model. This year, Samsung showcase a whopping 219-inch The Wall model!

75-inch 4K Micro LED TV

In addition, by narrowing the gap between the microscopic LED chips, they were able to create a 75-inch 4K Micro LED TV!

Modular Micro LED Display

Thanks to the modular nature of Micro LED, users can expand their display to any size they desire, even irregular 9×3, 1×7 or 5×1 screen sizes.

The Samsung Micro LED technology also optimises the content no matter the size and shape of the screen. Even when adding more modules, Samsung Micro LED displays can scale to increase the resolution — all while keeping the pixel density constant.

Additionally, Micro LED can support everything from the standard 16:9 content, to 21:9 widescreen films, to unconventional aspect ratios like 32:9, or even 1:1 – without having to make any compromises in its picture quality.

Finally, because Micro LED displays are bezel-free, there are no borders between modules – even when you add more. The result is a seamless, infinity pool effect that allows the display to blend into any environment.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Debuts At $349 With Free Game!

January 7, 2019 – NVIDIA today officially launched the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card at CES 2019.

With a launch price of US$349, the GeForce RTX 2060 promises to bring the NVIDIA Turing architecture within reach of the mainstream gaming market.

And they’re giving you a FREE game with it too!

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060

According to NVIDIA, the GeForce RTX 2060 is 60% faster than the previous-generation GeForce GTX 1060 in current game titles. They also say that it beats the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti in gaming performance.

But gaming frame rates isn’t the true forte of the new NVIDIA Turing architecture. With its RT and Tensor Cores, NVIDIA says that the GeForce RTX 2060 is capable of running Battlefield V with ray tracing at 60 frames per second!

Power Of The Turing Architecture

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 supports concurrent execution of floating point and integer operations, adaptive shading technology and a new unified memory architecture with twice the cache of its predecessor. Modern games can utilise these features to achieve up to 2x the performance of the GTX 1060 GPU.

The RTX 2060 comes equipped with 6 GB of GDDR6 memory and 240 Tensor Cores that can deliver 52 teraflops of deep learning horsepower, which can improve gaming performance through a feature known as Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS).

Battlefield V with DLSS Coming Soon

Electronic Arts and DICE will shortly release an update to Battlefield V that will incorporate DLSS support, as well as additional optimisations for real-time ray tracing.

According to NVIDIA, RTX performance with DLSS and ray tracing simultaneously enabled can provide comparable frame rates to playing with ray tracing disabled.
