Did 11 year-old Matilda Pritchard die suddenly from COVID-19 vaccine SADS?! Take a look at the viral claims, and find out what the facts really are!
False claim : 11 yo Matilda Pritchard died suddenly from vaccine SADS!
Right after news broke that 11 year-old Matilda Pritchard died suddenly in her sleep, some people immediately claimed or suggested she died suddenly from the COVID-19 vaccine!

I still ask everyone if they took the Covid vaccine. Though sometimes the look you get when you ask, makes you wish you didnt.

Truth : 11 yo Matilda Pritchard did not die from vaccine SADS!
It’s now tradition for anti-vaccination activists to blame all sudden deaths or illnesses on the COVID-19 vaccine. Here are the reasons why this is yet another example of fake news created and propagated by anti-vaccine activists…
Matilda Pritchard died from cardiac arrest in her sleep
Let me start with a quick summary of what happened to Matilda Pritchard, who by all accounts is a perfectly healthy 11 year-old little girl, who showed no sign of illness.
Tragically, her parents discovered on the morning of April 3, 2024, that Matilda suffered a cardiac arrest in her sleep. Despite paramedics arriving within minutes of being called, they were not able to revive her, and she was pronounced dead at Leeds General Infirmary.
Matilda Pritchard suffered from undiagnosed ARVC
Matilda’s father, Steve Pritchard, actually explained that she had an undiagnosed heart condition.
As any child would do, Matilda went up to bed and just never woke up. It’s been catastrophically terrible.
Despite the best efforts of Leeds General Infirmary, Matilda passed away of an undiagnosed heart condition. During the few weeks before the post-mortem, no-one knew what it was.
Later, a pathologist confirmed that Matilda Pritchard suffered from arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) – a rare genetic condition that causes the heart’s right ventricular muscles to be replaced by fatty or fibrous tissue, leading to an abnormal heartbeat (arrhythmia), heart failure, and sudden death.
People suffering from ARVC may not exhibit any symptoms at all, even if there is significant abnormalities in their hearts. In fact, sudden death without any preceding symptoms may be the first presentation, as it was with Matilda Pritchard.

ARVC is a genetic disorder
ARVC is a genetic disorder, which means Matilda Pritchard was born with mutations in genes that provide instructions for creating desmosomes – strong cell structures that attach heart muscle cells to one another.
Without normal desmosomes, the heart muscle cells can detach from one another and die. The damaged heart muscle (myocardium) then gets gradually replaced by fat and scar tissue, weakening over time. This also causes the right ventricle to get stretched out, and disrupt electrical signals that control the heartbeat.
What is clear is that it is impossible for COVID-19 vaccines to cause ARVC. Needless to say, none of those who claimed that Mathilda Pritchard died from the COVID-19 vaccines are able to explain just how they can plausibly cause ARVC.
Unknown if Mathilda Pritchard was vaccinated against COVID-19
It is currently unknown if Mathilda Pritchard was vaccinated against COVID-19, as her family has not publicly disclosed her vaccination status. It is possible that Mathilda was unvaccinated against COVID-19, because the COVID-19 vaccine is not mandatory in the United Kingdom.
Ironically, many people who were injured or died suddenly were actually unvaccinated, like Kris Jordan, Aaron Carter, Kirstie Alley, Stephan Bonnar, Grayson Murray, Shane Macaulay, David Wayne Burleson, and Kaden Clymer.
Until and unless her family reveals her COVID-19 vaccination status, anyone who tells you that Mathilda Pritchard was vaccinated against COVID-19 is likely lying to you. None of us know that.

Vaccine side effects appear within hours / days
Even if Mathilda Pritchard was fully-vaccinated against COVID-19, she would have received her doses more than 3.5 years ago!
She cannot possibly be suffering from a vaccine side effect, because they appear within hours or days, not months later.
Mild side effects like injection site pain, fever, muscle ache, headache, lethargy develop within minutes to hours of the vaccination.
Anaphylaxis develops within minutes, while other severe adverse reactions like myocarditis and VITT develop within days or weeks.
The spike proteins produced by the COVID-19 vaccines also do not stick around for months. If these spike proteins are permanent (as antivaxxers claim), we would have lifelong immunity.
Your own immune system will identify the spike proteins as foreign, and destroy them within a matter of days, although some may last for up to a few weeks. This is part of how vaccines teach your immune system to identify the enemy and destroy it.
