Huawei G8 Android Marshmallow Beta

  • The beta registration is only opened for the Malaysian variant of Huawei G8 (RIO-L01).
  • This experimental build of Android Marshmallow 6.0 / EMUI 4.0 will be released in the form of OTA (over the air) to registered Huawei G8 that runs on latest lollipop version (RIO-L01C900B150CUSTC636D005)
  • As this is an experimental build, unexpected issues/bugs may arise at any point at any time.
  • If your phone had been rooted, you may not be able to perform an OTA update. Kindly unroot your phone before proceeding with the update.

Various labels
You can customise the font size, colour, effects and label’s location now.
Sport watermark
You can note down the altitude of the mountain you have climbed and some simple words, making your travel photos more intuitive!
Memo feature
Supports customising a unique memo on every image, thus making your images truly to be a part of you.
Improved album
You can now add photos in batches to a newly created album
Batch printing of images
You can now save all selected images as a PDF and print them at the same time.

[Contacts]

Business card
It can analyse and get the information from a business card, and automatically create a new contact.
Smart group contacts
Classify all contacts according to company name. Now, finding someone in your contact list can be done in seconds!
Contact QR code
Your phone will auto generate a QR code for every newly created contact which makes it easy to share!

[Messages]

Mark all as read
You can mark all messages which you don’t want to spend any time reading as Read.
Cancelling a sent message
You can reclaim the message by double-touching the message bubble within 4 seconds.

[Application]

Compass
The new compass application have integrated level gauge
Alarm ring duration
Now, how long the alarm rings all depends on you!

[Settings]

Battery percentage display
The battery percentage can be shown within battery icon.
Notification panel and status bar
Added a fresh new drag action for notification and shortcuts making you get what you want with one tap.
Power on tone switch
Now you can control whether to turn that power-on tone on or off.

Changeable desktop text
The text on desktop will be automatically adjusted to white or black according to the shade of the wallpaper you set. It makes your desktop more clear and intuitive!

Huawei Mobile Malaysia is currently on a recruitment drive for Huawei P8 as well as Huawei Mate 7 beta testers. Users who are interested to try Android Marshmallow can sign up for the beta test using the following links.

Registration Details

Do note that this beta registration is only opened for the Malaysian variant of Huawei P8 (GRA-L03 / GRA-UL00) running on the latest lollipop version (V100R001C470B180). If you are running on other version(s), kindly update to the latest version by downloading the update from here.

Do note that this beta registration is only opened for the Malaysian variant of Huawei Mate 7 (MT-TL09 and MT-TL10) running on the latest lollipop version (MT7-L09C900B329 / MT7-TL10C900B324). If you are running on other version(s), kindly update to the latest version by downloading the update from here (MT-TL09) and here (MT-TL10).

Once you have successfully registered, just sit back, relax, and wait for the BETA to be seeded to you (via OTA). As these are an experimental build(s), you should be aware that unexpected bugs or issues may arise from time to time, hence if you have encountered any issues/bug during your time with the beta testing, your feedback is appreciated.

If you felt that this experimental beta build of Android Marshmallow is unstable, you may choose to downgrade. Thus, do look out for this space for future updates on steps to do so.

  • New added scheduled power on & off – Scheduled power on and off will help you get a regularlife. You will no longer have to worry about forgetting power on or power off.
  • New added a notification panel and status bar – It will be convenient to look up some settings.
  • Added power on tone switch – It supports you controlling the switch of Power on tone.
  • View mode – View mode controls the size of interface elements, such as images and characters. Elements will be smaller in Small mode but more content will be displayed. Choose the right for you!
  • KnuckleGestures – Double knocking the screen with two knuckles can start/stop screen recording now.
  • Drawing any letter of ”c”, “e”, “m”, “w” can open the corresponding apps that you predefined.
  • Drawing a line across your screen with your knuckle canopen dual windows.
