The ROG Strix GD30 Gaming Desktop Revealed!

Together with the ROG Zephyrus gaming laptop, and the ROG GT51 gaming desktop, ASUS also launched the first ever ROG Strix desktop – the new ROG Strix GD30 gaming desktop. What’s new or special about the ROG Strix GD30? Let’s find out!

The ROG Strix GD30 Gaming Desktop Revealed!

Let’s start with a presentation on the new ROG Strix GD30 by Louis Lu (ASUS Product Manager).

And here is a quick look at the new ROG Strix GD30 gaming desktop up close.

Easy Customisation

The ROG Strix GD30 has a black and white sci-fi and cyberpunk-inspired design that Star Wars fans will appreciate. But what it offers over other gaming desktops is the ability to detach the two front panels, and rearrange them to create 6 different styles.

A matching white LED strip bisects the two panels, while the transparent side panel has an iron honeycomb screen. That’s not just aesthetically pleasing, it also reduces EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) from the system.

The detachable panels can be painted, of course, and ASUS provides a 2D layout so you can design and plan your decals. If that’s not enough, ASUS even offers a 3D source file for a miniature GD30 that you can build using a 3D printer.

Powerful Gaming Options

The ROG Strix GD30 comes in multiple configurations, with the top model featuring a 7th Generation Intel Core i7-7700 CPU, 32 GB of DDR4 memory, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card with 8 GB of memory.

Great Connectivity Options

Connect all the peripherals you want with four USB 2.0 ports and seven USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports. One of the USB 3.1 ports has a reversible Type-C connector that provides up to 15W of power for fast-charging devices.

For easy access, there are two USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.1 ports, a memory card reader, and both microphone and headphone jacks located at the top of the front panel alongside the power and reset buttons.

Price & Availability

The ROG Strix GD30 (GD30CI) gaming desktop is now available with the following specifications for a launch price of RM 7,499 / ~US$ 1,789, inclusive of the 6% GST.

  • Intel Core i7-7700
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 with 8 GB GDDR5 memory
  • 16 GB DDR4-2400 memory

Free Game With Every ASUS ROG Laptop

Tom Clancy’s The Division is looking to be a big hit come March, promising to satiate gamers’ desire for shooting, looting, and levelling. The Division‘s open world recreation of New York City boasts plenty to see and do, and on PC that massive amount of content will appear more detailed, be rendered at up to 4K, and be enhanced by NVIDIA GameWorks HBAO+ and PCSS visual effects.

Enabling these and other effects at higher resolutions will require serious pixel-pushing prowess, so for many an upgrade will be in order. For the Beta and the official release of The Division, Ubisoft is recommending players use the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970, which will provide the performance for high-detail, high framerate gameplay. NVIDIA have their own recommendations and testing available in the near future too.
