Here Are The First 22 AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT Cards!

Unlike the Radeon RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT cards, the new AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT does not have a reference design – it is available only as custom-designed cards from AMD’s partners.

Here is a quick primer on the first slew of Radeon RX 5500 XT cards from ASRock, ASUS, GIGABYTE, MSI, PowerColor, Sapphire and XFX!

AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT : A Quick Primer

The AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT is basically the desktop version of the Radeon RX 5500M, using the same GPU with 6.4 billion transistors fabricated on the 7 nm process technology.

This Navi GPU has 22 Compute Units with 1408 stream processors and a 128-bit memory interface. The only difference is the Radeon RX 5500 XT has higher clock speeds and TDP, with up to 8 GB of GDDR6 memory.

The AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT designed to deliver 1080p gaming at 60+ fps for AAA titles, and 90+ fps for esport games.

To reduce costs, AMD opted to use a PCI Express 4.0 x8 interface, instead of the PCIe 4.0 x16 interface. But if paired with a PCIe 4.0 chipset, it will deliver the same bandwidth as PCIe 3.0 x16.

PowerColor Red Dragon Radeon RX 5500 XT Review!

The PowerColor Red Dragon Radeon RX 5500 XT is one of the few to come with 8 GB of GDDR6 memory, and we got our grubby hands on one!

Here is our review of the PowerColor Red Dragon Radeon RX 5500 XT graphics card!

PowerColor Red Dragon Radeon RX 5500 XT Hands-On Experience

The PowerColor Red Dragon Radeon RX 5500 XT is a no-frills card. It comes in a decent cardboard box, and that’s it.

Here is a couple of key things we pointed out in our hands-on video :

  • it is one of the few Radeon RX 5500 XT models to come with 8 GB GDDR6 memory.
  • it has a large cooler with heat pipes and two fans
  • it has three display options – DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort
  • it requires an 8-pin PCI Express power cable

PowerColor Red Dragon Radeon RX 5500 XT In Action

Now, if you are looking for RGB bling, then the Red Dragon is not the card for you. But it comes with a backplate.

But more importantly, at least for us, it is really quiet. You can hear a slight whine, but it is quieter than the Ryzen 7 3700X‘s CPU cooler!

In fact, it runs cool enough that both fans will generally not spin up until it gets toasty, and spin down again when things cool down.

PowerColor Red Dragon Radeon RX 5500 XT Up Close!

Here are some close-up shots of the PowerColor Red Dragon Radeon RX 5500 XT.

This is a simple but performance-focused design, with the backplate being the only aesthetic frill.

It’s notable that this card not only comes with 8 GB of GDDR6 memory, but also a beefy heat pipe cooler with dual fans.

This card has a TDP of 130 watts, and requires an 8-pin PCI Express power cable.

There is one bad thing about the cooler though – it exhausts upwards and downwards, instead of out the back of the card. This means the hot exhaust gets recirculated within the case.

The PowerColor Red Dragon Radeon RX 5500 XT has three output options. From left to right, they are DVI, DisplayPort and HDMI. Incidentally, the vents above them are purely decorative.

AMD RDNA Architecture

The new RDNA architecture replaces the GCN (Graphics Core Next) architecture that powered the Vega 64 and Vega 56 cards.

The AMD RDNA architecture offers these advantages over the older GCN architecture :

  • New Compute Unit and SIMD design that delivers 1.25X better performance per clock
  • New multi-level cache hierarchy for reduced latency and power
  • Adds support for GDDR6 memory and PCI Express 4.0
  • New Radeon Media Engine with 4K encode and 8K decode capability for VP9, H.264 and HEVC

7 nm Process Technology

A key advantage the AMD Navi GPU has over the previous AMD Vega GPU is the finer 7 nm process technology it uses.

This change, together with the RDNA microarchitecture, lets the AMD Navi deliver 60% more performance per watt than the AMD Vega.

PowerColor Red Dragon Radeon RX 5500 XT Thermal Output

We recorded the peak exhaust temperatures of those cards, to see how much heat they throw out. Take a look…

Note that these are not the recorded temperatures, but how much hotter the exhaust air is above ambient temperature.

Not surprisingly, with the lowest total card power of 130 watts, the PowerColor Radeon RX 5500 XT has the lowest exhaust temperature in this comparison, by far!

World War Z

Based on the 2013 movie, World War Z is a relatively new third-person shooter game, released in April 2019.

We tested it on three resolutions using the Vulkan API at the Ultra High settings :

  • 1080p : 1920 x 1080
  • 1440p : 2560 x 1440

Note : This game is known to be highly optimised for AMD Radeon cards.

1080p Gaming Resolution

Look at that! The PowerColor Radeon RX 5500 XT actually beat the GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER, and was 30.5% faster than the GeForce GTX 1060!

1440p Gaming Resolution

When we kicked up the resolution, the PowerColor Radeon RX 5500 XT faltered a bit. It was now slightly (4.2%) slower than the GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER.

On the other hand, it remained 30% faster than the GeForce GTX 1060.

Strange Brigade

Strange Brigade is also a third-person shooter game, released in August 2018.

We tested it on three resolutions using the Vulkan API at the Ultra High settings :

  • 1080p : 1920 x 1080
  • 1440p : 2560 x 1440

1080p Gaming Resolution

At 1080p, the PowerColor Radeon RX 5500 XT was 17% faster than the GeForce GTX 1060, but a full 20% slower than the GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER.

1440p Gaming Resolution

The PowerColor Radeon RX 5500 XT managed to deliver an average frame rate ih excess of 60 fps – 22% faster than the GeForce GTX 1060.

Metro Exodus

Metro Exodus is a relatively new first-person shooter game, released in February 2019.

We tested it on three resolutions using the Ultra settings :

  • 1080p : 1920 x 1080
  • 1440p : 2560 x 1440

1080p Gaming Resolution

At 1080p, the PowerColor Radeon RX 5500 XT tied with the GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER, and they were both about 25% faster than the GeForce GTX 1060.

1440p Gaming Resolution

The PowerColor Radeon RX 5500 XT again tied with the GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER, and they were both now 28% faster than the GeForce GTX 1060.

Ashes of the Singularity

Ashes of the Singularity is a 2016 game that supports multi-core processing and asynchronous compute.

We tested it on three resolutions using the DirectX 12 API at the Extreme settings :

  • 1080p : 1920 x 1080
  • 1440p : 2560 x 1440

1080p Gaming Resolution

At 1080p, the PowerColor Radeon RX 5500 XT actually beat the GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER, and was 24% faster than the GeForce GTX 1060!

1440p Gaming Resolution

When we kicked the resolution up a notch though, the PowerColor Radeon RX 5500 XT was slightly (4%) slower than the GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER, albeit 23% faster than the GeForce GTX 1060.

PowerColor Red Dragon Radeon RX 5500 XT : Our Verdict

The PowerColor Red Dragon Radeon RX 5500 XT, as it is properly called, is a no-frills 8 GB example of the Radeon RX 5500 XT.

Aesthetically, it comes with a backplate and nothing else. Look elsewhere if you “need” RGB lighting.

However, if you are only interested in performance, especially quiet performance, then this might just be the RX 5500 XT card for you.

It comes with a large heat pipe cooler with dual fans that will not spin unless things get really toasty. The large dual-fan cooler also gives you more leeway for overclocking.

That said, we do not quite like the fact that the hot air isn’t exhausted out of the card, and instead recirculates within the case.

Its performance is surprisingly good at this price point. It readily delivers frame rates in excess of 60 fps at 1080p, even for AAA titles with high graphics settings.

The only exception is Metro Exodus, where it just hit 40 fps at 1080p using the Ultra settings. You will need to reduce its graphics settings to hit 60 fps.

You will also be glad to know that it will come bundled with a free game – Iceborne Master Edition, as well as a free 3-month Xbox Game Pass subscription!

But its price could be a little lower, especially since the GTX 1650 SUPER only costs $159, with the faster GTX 1660 SUPER at $229.

But all-in-all, this is a decent package from AMD and PowerColor for anyone looking for a sub-$200 graphics card. It’s certainly not the fastest kid on the block, but it will get the job done for those on a budget!

AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT Tech Report + Video Briefing!

AMD just announced the Radeon RX 5500 XT graphics card – an AIB-only model targeted at 1080p and esports gamers!

Here is our quick primer on the two AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT variants, including their reference specifications and suggested retail prices!

AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT : The Official Tech Briefing

Let’s start with the official tech briefing by Mithun Chandrasekhar, AMD Senior Product Manager and Brian Kong, AMD Product Manager at Radeon Technologies Group.

These cards are designed to deliver 1080p gaming at 60+ fps for AAA titles, and 90+ fps for esport games.

To reduce costs, AMD opted to use a PCI Express 4.0 x8 interface, instead of the PCIe 4.0 x16 interface. But if paired with a PCIe 4.0 chipset, it will deliver the same bandwidth as PCIe 3.0 x16.

AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT Specifications

In this table, we compare its specifications against its more powerful brethren – the RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT.

Please note that this is an AIB-only model, and its specifications are only for reference.

AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT Performance Comparison

AMD shared these performance results comparing the 4 GB variant against the GeForce GTX 1650 Super (4 GB) in AAA games at 1080p.

Based on their tests, the RX 5500 XT delivers anywhere from 4% to 30% better performance than the GTX 1650 Super.

AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT : 4GB vs 8GB

AMD’s AIB partners will be offering their cards in two variants – with either 4 GB or 8 GB of GDDR6 memory.

While this may seem to be a minor difference, AMD says that opting for the 8 GB Variant can offer a significant performance boost, with high quality settings.

AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT : Price + Bundle

As we mentioned earlier, this is exclusively an AIB-only model. There will be no reference model, so specifications and prices will vary significantly.

However, AMD shared with us their Suggested Retail Price (SEP) for both variants :

  • AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 4GB : US$169 / ~£129 / ~A$245 / ~S$229 / ~RM704
  • AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB : US$199 / ~£152 / ~A$288 / ~S$270 / ~RM829

Instead of bundling every card with either Borderlands 3 or Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint as announced earlier, AMD has decided to bundle every card with :

  • Iceborne Master Edition
  • 3 months Xbox Game Pass subscription

While a 3 month subscription is not particularly exciting, it’s still nice to pick up a free game with your purchase, especially at this price point!

  1. Red Dead Redemption 2 crashes with this error message :

Red Dead Redemption 2 exited unexpectedly

  1. Stuttering or freezing during game play due to CPU maxing out
  2. Sudden drop in frame rate (fps) during game play

Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Solution Guide

Solution #1 : Update Your Graphics Card Driver

As we pointed out in an article we posted earlier, make sure you update your graphics driver :

  • AMD : Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 19.11.1 or newer
  • NVIDIA : GeForce Game Ready Driver 441.12 or newer

Recommended : Red Dead Redemption 2 : Use These AMD + NVIDIA Drivers!

Solution #2 : Disable Antivirus or Add To Whitelist / Exemption List

Antivirus software are apparently causing RDR2 to crash, especially during the intro / shotgun scene.

Either disable your antivirus software temporarily (not really advisable), or add Red Dead Redemption 2 to its whitelist or exemption list.

Solution #3 : Update The Rockstar Games Launcher

Rockstar just issued a v1.09.164 update to fix the many issues this buggy launcher was causing :

  • Close any running Rockstar game
  • Close the Rockstar Games Launcher
  • Restart the Rockstar Games Launcher, and let it update to v1.09.164 or newer

Solution #4 : Logging Out And Back Into Rockstar Games Launcher

The Activation Required error can apparently be solved by simply logging out of the Rockstar Games Launcher, and logging back in again.

Solution #5 : Clear The Rockstar Games Launch Profile Cache

But in certain situations, if logging out and back in again fails, you will need to clear your local profile cache :

  • In Rockstar Games Launcher, go to Settings > Account Information
  • Select Delete Local Profile (This will only delete the local cache. It will not delete your Social Club account or saved games)
  • Select Confirm
  • Sign into the Rockstar Games Launcher again

Solution #6 : Reduce Number Of CPU Cores

Red Dead Redemption 2 is apparently hogging the CPU, causing stuttering or freezing. A temporary workaround has been suggested – reduce the number of CPU cores it can use :

  • Right click on RDR2.exe in Windows Explorer
  • In the drop-down list, select Set Affinity
  • You will a list of available CPU cores. Uncheck one or two cores.

Solution #7 : Switch To DirectX 12

Generally, Vulkan will offer significantly better performance than DirectX 12. Where possible, you should enable Vulkan, instead of DirectX 12.

However, if you notice sudden drops in frame rate, try switching from Vulkan to DirectX 12. This will likely get fixed in a future graphics card driver.

Solution #8 : Lower The Graphics Settings

Rockstar appears to be overly optimistic about the system requirements of RDR2. NVIDIA ran their own benchmarks, and recommended these cards for 60 fps gaming instead :

So, if you are getting low frame rates, reduce the graphics settings. In particular, volumetric graphics and water quality settings.

They are both powered by the 9th Gen Intel Core i7 mobile processor, with up to 16 GB of DDR4 memory, and up to two 512 GB PCIe NVMe SSDs in RAID 0.

They will come with AMD Radeon RX Vega M GL graphics in some regions, and a choice between NVIDIA Quadro and GeForce graphics in other regions.

They come with a full range of ports, including a USB-C Gen 1 port, a DisplayPort and a dedicated USB port that supports offline charging.

There is also has an embedded fingerprint reader that allows for easier login through Windows Hello.

They are both kept cool by a 4th Gen AeroBlade 3D fan. It features very thin 0.1 mm fan blades with a serrated edge, winglets along the top and bottom, as well as a curved fin along the inner portion of each blade. Acer claims this increases airflow by up to 45%!

To keep things quiet though, the AeroBlade 3D fan has a noise reduction mechanism that keeps it down to less than 40 dB – as quiet as a library!

AMD Radeon RX 5500 Series : Everything You Need To Know!

Exactly three months after AMD launched the AMD Radeon RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT graphics cards, they are now launching the Radeon RX 5500 Series of desktop and mobile graphics!

Here is EVERYTHING you need to know about the AMD Radeon RX 5500 desktop graphics card, and the AMD Radeon RX 5500M mobile graphics!

AMD Radeon RX 5500 Series : The Official Tech Briefing

Let’s start with the official AMD Radeon RX 5500 Series tech briefing by Simon Ng, a Radeon Technologies Group Product Manager.

AMD Radeon RX 5500 Series : Q&A Session

For a more detailed discussion on the Radeon RX 5500 Series, you can tune into the Q&A session too :

AMD Radeon RX 5500 Series Summarised

AMD announced both the desktop and mobile versions of the Radeon RX 5500 Series – the Radeon RX 5500M for gaming laptops, and the Radeon RX 5500 discrete graphics for desktops.

They are both the same GPU, with 6.4 billion transistors fabricated on the 7 nm process technology. This Navi GPU has 22 Compute Units with 1408 stream processors and a 128-bit memory interface.

The only difference is when used in mobile applications, it will have lower clock speeds, and 4 GB of GDDR6 memory, with a nominal TGP of 85 watts.

When used in a desktop graphics card, it will have higher clock speeds with a total board power of 150 watts, and either 4 GB or 8 GB of GDDR6 memory.

Ultimately, they are both designed to deliver 1080p gaming at 60+ fps for AAA titles, and 90+ fps for esport games.

To reduce costs, AMD opted to use a PCI Express 4.0 x8 interface, instead of the PCIe 4.0 x16 interface. But if paired with a PCIe 4.0 chipset, it will deliver the same bandwidth as PCIe 3.0 x16.

Unboxing The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER (US | UK | MY) comes in a large cardboard box that doubles as a stand. Let’s take a quick look around, before we unbox it and see what we find inside!

The GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER (US | UK | MY) package is rather basic, but for those who are still using monitors with DVI ports, the bundled DP-to-DVI dongle will be very useful.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER Hands On!

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER (US | UK | MY) has the full NVIDIA TU104 GPU with 3072 stream processors.

This gives it 192 TMUs and 64 ROPS, delivering a peak output of 349 GT/s and 116 GP/s, thanks to its higher clock speeds.

Its 8 GB of GDDR6 memory runs at a higher speed speed of 1937.5 MHz, giving it a peak memory bandwidth of 496 GB/s.

Even though the TU104 GPU is fabricated on the 12 nm process technology, the card only needs 250 watts of power.

NVIDIA Turing

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX SUPER series continues to use the NVIDIA Turing microarchitecture, the first to introduce real-time ray tracing capabilities and new Tensor Cores.

It also continues to benefit from NVIDIA DLSS (Deep Learning Super-Sampling), which can be used to deliver better than TAA quality with a significantly lower performance penalty, or much better image quality – equivalent to 64X super sampling.

RTX 2080 SUPER Power Requirements

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER (US | UK | MY) is a true SUPER version of the GeForce RTX 2080.

It uses the full TU104 GPU with additional 256 stream processors, so it comes to no surprise that it would require 250 watts of power as well.

Like the GeForce RTX 2080 and the RTX 2070 SUPER, you will need a power supply with both 6-pin and 8-pin PCI Express power cables.

RTX 2080 SUPER Display Ports

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER (US | UK | MY) has three DisplayPort 1.4 ports, each supporting up to 8K HDR resolution at 60 Hz, or 4K HDR at 120 Hz or more.

There is also a tiny USB-C VirtualLink port, which allows you to connect a VR headset. But guess what – it works like a standard USB-C port, so you can also connect any USB-C device to it!

For compatibility with older displays, there is a HDMI 2.0b port, which supports up to 4K HDR displays at up to 60 Hz… as well as a DP-to-DVI dongle, which allows you to hook it up to older monitors with a DVI port.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER – Our Verdict!

Coming up with the RTX SUPER cards was easy for NVIDIA. They reused the same NVIDIA Turing GPUs that powered the RTX 20 series.

But of the three RTX SUPER cards they released, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER (US | UK | MY) is the one true SUPER card.

While the RTX 2070 SUPER and RTX 2060 SUPER use cut-down versions of the RTX 2080 and RTX 2070 cards respectively, the RTX 2080 SUPER uses the full TU104 GPU and came with higher clock speeds, and faster GDDR6 memory.

This allows it to be much faster than a regular RTX 2080, at the same price point!

NVIDIA naturally dropped the RTX 2080, offering consumers the choice of the much faster RTX 2080 SUPER, or the much cheaper RTX 2070 SUPER.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER (US | UK | MY) far outclasses the RX 5700, and the RX 5700 XT. But we managed to get our hands on the Radeon VII, which arguably is its closest AMD rival. Here is a summary of their performance in our six real world game benchmarks :

  • F1 2019 : RTX 2080S is faster by 11% (1080p), 13% (1440p) and 17% (2160p)
  • World War Z : RTX 2080S is 9% faster at 1080p and 1440p, Radeon VII is 4% faster at 2160p
  • The Division 2 : RTX 2080S is 17.5% faster at 1080p, 22-23% faster at 1440p and 2160p
  • Strange Brigade : RTX 2080S is 15% faster at 1080p, 12.5% faster at 1440p, but ties with the Radeon VII at 2160p
  • Metro Exodus : RTX 2080S is 10% faster at 1080p, 8.5% faster at 1440p, and just 5% faster at 2160p
  • AOTS : RTX 2080S is 5% faster at 1440p, and 12% faster at 2160p

Generally, we would say that GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER (US | UK | MY) is roughly 10-15% faster than the Radeon VII and the RTX 2070 SUPER.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER (US | UK | MY) is not only the one true SUPER card, it is the only one that can reliably deliver 4K gaming performance at 60 fps and beyond.

It is therefore, the logical choice, for those who want to game at 4K with most, if not all, of the graphics bells and whistles turned on.

However, you must be prepared to pay a 40% price premium of $200 over the RTX 2070 SUPER for roughly 12.5% better performance.

If you plan to game at 1440p, or don’t mind turning down some graphics features, buy the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER instead.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER Game Bundle

NVIDIA is bundling TWO GAMES – Wolfenstein : Youngblood and Control – with the RTX 2080 SUPER. They are worth at least $50, so that’s a really nice deal… if you like those games.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER Founders Edition Review!

NVIDIA spiked the AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT launch party by first teasing, and then launching the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER.

A cut-down version of the GeForce RTX 2080, it comes with 2560 stream processors and 8 GB of GDDR6 memory, at a lower price point!

Find out how it matches up against the competition, and why we gave it our Reviewer’s Choice Award!

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER Primer

Designed to extend NVIDIA’s performance lead against the new AMD Navi-based graphics cards, the NVIDIA RTX SUPER graphics cards are based on cut-down versions of existing GeForce RTX models.

The GeForce RTX 2060 survives to remain the cheapest RTX card you can buy, while the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti remains the most powerful RTX graphics card that money can buy.

This is how the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX SUPER series compares to the older NVIDIA GeForce RTX series.

Unboxing The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER (US | UK | MY) comes in a large cardboard box that doubles as a stand. Let’s take a quick look around, and see what we find inside!

The RTX 2070 SUPER package is rather basic, but for those who are still using monitors with DVI ports, the bundled DP-to-DVI dongle will be very useful.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER Hands On!

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER (US | UK | MY) has an NVIDIA TU104 GPU with 2560 stream processors.

This gives it 160 TMUs and 64 ROPS, delivering a peak output of 283 GT/s and 113 GP/s, thanks to its higher clock speeds.

Its 8 GB of GDDR6 memory runs at a speed of 1750 MHz, giving it a peak memory bandwidth of 448 GB/s.

Even though the TU104 GPU is fabricated on the 12 nm process technology, the card only needs 215 watts of power.

RTX 2070 SUPER Power Requirements

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER (US | UK | MY) is a cut-down version of the GeForce RTX 2080, so it comes to no surprise that it would require 215 watts of power as well.

Like the GeForce RTX 2080, you will need a power supply with both 6-pin and 8-pin PCI Express power cables.

RTX 2070 SUPER Display Ports

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER (US | UK | MY) has three DisplayPort 1.4 ports, each supporting up to 8K HDR resolution at 60 Hz, or 4K HDR at 120 Hz or more.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER – Summary

Coming up with the RTX SUPER cards was easy for NVIDIA. They are basically cut-down versions of existing and faster graphics cards.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER (US | UK | MY) is essentially a GeForce RTX 2080 with 384 CUDA Cores disabled, but higher clock speeds to compensate.

This allows it to be almost as fast as a regular RTX 2080, just a whole lot cheaper! In fact, that was precisely why it replaced the RTX 2080, which was $200 more expensive.

Sadly, we currently do not have an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT to compare it with, only the Radeon RX 5700.

Needless to say, the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER far outclasses the RX 5700. But until we get our hands on its true rival – the Radeon RX 5700 XT, let’s compare it against its “junior”, the RTX 2060 SUPER in our six real world game benchmarks :

  • F1 2019 : 16% faster at 1080p, 19% faster at 1440p, 21% faster at 2160p
  • World War Z : 7% faster at 1080p, 15% faster at 1440p, 20.5% faster at 2160p
  • The Division 2 : 15.5% faster at 1080p, 20.5% faster at 1440p, 24% faster at 2160p
  • Strange Brigade : 17% faster at 1080p, 16.5% faster at 1440p, 15% faster at 2160p
  • Metro Exodus : 16% faster at 1080p, 17% faster at 1440p and 2160p
  • AOTS : 3% faster at 1080p, 9% faster at 1440p, 15% faster at 2160p

Generally, we would say that GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER (US | UK | MY) is roughly 12-18% faster than the RTX 2060 SUPER.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER Game Bundle

Like the RTX 2060 SUPER, NVIDIA is bundling TWO GAMES – Wolfenstein : Youngblood and Control – with the RTX 2070 SUPER. They are worth at least $50, so that’s a really nice deal… if you like those games.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER – Our Verdict + Award

Now, there is nothing “super” about what’s really a cut-down version of the existing GeForce RTX 2080 graphics card.

What will really sell the RTX 2060 SUPER is the fact it offers a much better value proposition than the RTX 2080.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER is basically a slightly slower GeForce RTX 2080 with a $200 discount.

That means you get a card that’s fast enough for 4K gaming at 60 fps or better in ⅔ of the games we tested, at what you used to pay for a GeForce RTX 2070!

That’s sure as heck worthy of our Reviewer’s Choice Award! Nice work, NVIDIA!

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER Founders Edition Review!

NVIDIA spiked the AMD Radeon RX 5700 launch party by first teasing, and then launching the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER.

A cut-down version of the GeForce RTX 2070, it comes with 2176 stream processors and 8 GB of GDDR6 memory, at a $100 lower price point!

How will it match up against the new Radeon RX 5700, and its predecessor, the RTX 2060? Let’s find out!

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER Primer

Designed to extend NVIDIA’s performance lead against the new AMD Navi-based graphics cards, the NVIDIA RTX SUPER graphics cards are based on cut-down versions of existing GeForce RTX models.

The GeForce RTX 2060 survives to remain the cheapest RTX card you can buy, while the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti remains the most powerful RTX graphics card that money can buy.

This is how the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX SUPER series compares to the older NVIDIA GeForce RTX series.
