AMD Radeon Pro W5700 : Everything You Need To Know!

AMD recently launched the Radeon Pro W5700, the world’s first 7nm professional workstation graphics card.

Here is EVERYTHING you need to know about the AMD Radeon Pro W5700, and their new strategy of naming their professional graphics cards in line with their consumer graphics card!

AMD Radeon Pro W5700 : Official Tech Briefing

In this video, Scott Jackson (Director of AMD Workstation GPU) and Glenn Matthews (Senior Manager of Workstation Graphics Product Management) explains the key advantages of the new AMD Radeon W5700 graphics card.

AMD Radeon Pro W5700

Designed for engineers, architects and 3D designers, the Radeon Pro W5700 promises greatly improved performance and efficiency over its predecessors.

This is mostly thanks to its new RNDA architecture, which delivers 25% more instructions per clock (IPC) than the last-generation Graphics Core Next (GCN) architecture.

This allows the Radeon Pro W5700 deliver up to 41% better performance per watt than the Radeon Pro WX 8200, which is based on the older GCN architecture.

The AMD Radeon Pro W5700 is basically the workstation variant of the AMD Radeon RX 5700 graphics card, with some major differences :

  • Stress-tested for 24/7 environments
  • AMD Radeon Pro Software for Enterprise drivers
  • Extensive platform and application testing
  • AMD Remote Workstation capability

AMD Radeon Pro W5700 vs NVIDIA Quadro RTX 4000

AMD is targeting the Radeon Pro W5700 against NVIDIA’s Quadro RTX 4000, offering equivalent performance at a lower price point.

On top of a lower price point, AMD claims that the Radeon Pro W5700 will use less power than the Quadro RTX 4000, particularly during solid modelling.

AMD Remote Workstation Capability

A key benefit of the AMD Radeon Pro W5700 is Radeon Pro Software, with its built-in AMD Remote Workstation capability.

AMD Remote Workstation lets you use Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops or Microsoft Remote Desktop Services to remotely access the workstation with an AMD Radeon Pro graphics card, and leverage its performance from anywhere in the world.
