Samsung Book Cover Keyboard : A Must-Have!
The Samsung Book Cover Keyboard uses a two-piece design – a front keyboard cover, and a back cover that doubles as a kickstand.
It transforms your Galaxy Tab S7 or Tab S7+ tablet into a virtual laptop, thanks to its integrated keyboard and touchpad.
The kickstand with its “free stop hinge” lets you freely adjust the angle of the tablet all the way to 165°.
But the downsides with a kickstand design – it takes up more space, and works best on a flat surface.
It is rather heavy at 502 grams, but gives you not just a keyboard but a large trackpad as well. In fact, its trackpad is much larger than the trackpad from the Galaxy Tab S6‘s Book Cover Keyboard.
It also has 26% larger keycaps than the Tab S6 version, with a 18.3 mm key pitch. However, its odd-shaped Enter key will get some getting used to.
The Book Cover Keyboard also has an S Pen compartment which nicely fits over its dock, ensuring that you will never lose it.
This compartment is cleverly locked magnetically, and flips open when you need to take out the S Pen, or put it back.
The back cover is thick enough to properly protect the Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7+’s camera bump.
But that’s really not an issue because the S Pen compartment bulge conveniently keeps the camera bump off any surface you place it on.

Despite some news to the contrary, the Acer Active Stylus is an optional accessory for the 2017 Acer Spin 5 convertible laptop. Let us clear up the confusion, and tell you how you can get the Acer Active Stylus absolutely FREE!
The Acer Active Stylus Confusion
In our coverage on the 2017 Acer Spin 5 convertible laptop, we pointed out that the Acer Active Stylus was an optional accessory. Some publications reported otherwise, leading to confusion and some disgruntled customers.
We checked with Acer Malaysia, who confirmed that their official press release remain correct – the Acer Active Stylus, was and still is, an optional accessory.
However, they also confirmed that they gave away the Active Stylus free with the 13.3″ Acer Spin 5 as part of a special offer. They also said that they are now extending the same offer to the 15.6″ Acer Spin 5.
So that’s the good news – everyone who purchased the new 2017 Acer Spin 5 will receive a FREE Acer Active Stylus!
How To Get The Free Acer Active Stylus
Acer Malaysia included the Active Stylus in the package of every 13.3″ model of the 2017 Acer Spin 5. If you purchased one, the Active Stylus should already be inside the package.

If you purchased the 15.6″ model, you will need to send an email with a proof of purchase (receipt or tax invoice) to ama.marcom@acer.com. Acer Malaysia will make arrangements to send you the free Acer Active Stylus in a month or so.
The free Acer Active Stylus is classified as complimentary, and is not part of the standard 2017 Acer Spin 5 package. That means Acer will only send one to you, if you ask them about it.
So help spread the word, so that all Acer Spin 5 customers are aware that they’re entitled to a free Active Stylus!
The Official Acer Malaysia Statement
Here is a statement by the Acer Malaysia rep who spoke to us about the Active Stylus issue :
The 13.3″ and 15.6″ Spin 5 support the Acer Active Stylus, which is an optional accessory. The stylus is not a standard bundle with the device during shipment. However, Acer Malaysia is giving the Acer Active Stylus FOC with any purchase of the newly launched Spin 5 (both 13.3″ and 15.6″ models).
The 13.3″ model was shipped with the stylus. Customers who bought the 15.6″ model can send an email with proof of purchase (Tax Invoice) to ama.marcom@acer.com to claim their complimentary stylus. The arrangement and process will take about 1 month.

The ASUS ZenPad 7.0 is a cheap and cheerful mini-tablet. Powered by the low-cost Intel Atom x3 chip, it is never going to win any speed race. If you are looking for a mobile 3D gaming machine, then this is not what you are looking for. But it is perfect for 2D games and video playback, as well as office work.
When we reviewed the ASUS ZenPad 7.0, one of our biggest gripe was its rather limited battery life. It can last up to 6 hours with light use, or 4.5 hours of heavy use (PCMark rated) and about 3.5 hours if you are playing games on it. But ASUS has just the solution for you – the ASUS Power Case (CB71) for the ZenPad 7.0!
The ASUS Power Case is a power extender specially designed for their ZenPad series of tablets. They look like a normal ZenCase, just with a built-in battery that doubles the ZenPad’s battery life. Let’s see if that claim holds true! 😀

Unboxing The ASUS Power Case
The ASUS Power Case comes in a classy-looking cardboard box. The large ASUS ZenPad 7.0 branding in the front makes it clear that this Power Case is specifically designed for the ZenPad 7.0, not its larger brother – the ZenPad 8.0.
Inside, you will find the Power Case nestled within a corrugated cardboard box. The box has a small compartment, with the USB charging dongle for the Power Case hiding inside.

The Power Case Up Close
The Power Case for the ASUS ZenPad 7.0 looks like a normal ZenCase from a distance. It is just thicker and heavier, with a dark chrome trim for a classier look. On the inner side, there is a label and an 8-point power and data connector. Check out how the black Power Case looks on a white ZenPad 7.0.
The Power Case comes with a USB charging dongle. It doesn’t come with a power adaptor for this dongle because you can use your ZenPad 7.0‘s existing power adaptor. You don’t actually have to use the dongle. Once you install the Power Case onto the ZenPad 7.0, recharging the ZenPad 7.0‘s internal battery will also recharge the Power Case.
The dongle has two magnetic pads with two pegs on the underside. Together, they securely lock onto the power and data connector. Then all you need to do is plug in a USB cable to recharge the Power Case. Although less convenient than recharging the Power Case on the ZenPad 7.0, the dongle allows for a faster recharge.
The Power Case’s Performance
ASUS promised that the Power Case will double the ZenPad 7.0‘s battery life from 8 hours to 16 hours. Our tests show that the ZenPad 7.0‘s battery life under heavy use is about 4.5 hours. The Power Case extends that by 6.5 hours to just over 11 hours, more than doubling its battery life.
With light use, you can expect the rated 16 hours of battery life, but if you play games non-stop on it, expect it to run out of juice after 7.5 hours. While this falls short of the rated battery life of “up to 16 hours”, the Power Case erases all battery life anxiety for ZenPad 7.0 users. You can use it for a full working day without worrying about running out of battery power.
We also checked how long it took to fully recharge both the ZenPad 7.0‘s internal battery and the Power Case – 14 hours 24 minutes. This was based on the 7 W power adaptor that came with the ASUS ZenPad 7.0. Charging will be slower if you plug the ZenPad 7.0 (with the Power Case attached) to a computer USB port. If you need a quicker charge, you should remove the Power Case and recharge it using the charging dongle.
Our Verdict
The ASUS Power Case for the ZenPad 7.0 should not be considered an optional upgrade. It is a necessary upgrade, because it solves the ZenPad 7.0‘s biggest flaw – its limited battery life.
[adrotate banner=”4″]Although it looks like a ZenCase, it adds quite a bit of heft (100 grams or 3.5 oz) to the ZenPad 7.0, which weighs just 272 g (9.6 oz). That is a 36% increase in its weight. You will feel it, but IMHO, it’s worth the extra battery life.
Installing the Power Case will also increase the time it takes to recharge the ZenPad 7.0. It is simply too inconvenient to remove the Power Case for a quicker recharge, so you will have to live with the long charging time.
If you intend to buy the ASUS ZenPad 7.0, or already own one, make sure you get the Power Case. It will transform your ZenPad 7.0 tablet, allowing you to really use it “hard” without worrying about running out of juice.
