COVID-19 Vaccine Programme For Kids Announced!

COVID-19 Vaccine Programme For Kids : Details Announced!

The Malaysia Ministry of Health just announced details of the COVID-19 vaccine programme for kids 5 to 11 years in age.

Here is what you need to know!

COVID-19 Vaccine Programme For Kids : Details Announced!

On 20 January 2022, the Malaysia Health Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, announced details of PICKids – the COVID-19 vaccine programme for kids 5 to 11 years in age.

Special Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine for Kids To Be Used

A special Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for kids will be used to vaccinate children 5 to 11 years in age.

This paediatric dose comes in a new 10-dose vial with an orange cap, which will be diluted with 1.3 ml of water.

Each dose is smaller at only 0.2 ml, and contains only 10 micrograms (mcg) of the vaccine – 1/3 of the dose used in adults.

Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine for Kids Arrives End Of January 2022

According to the Health Minister, the first batch of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine doses for kids will arrive in Malaysia on 31 January 2022.

COVID-19 Vaccine for Kids Programme Starts In February 2022

The COVID-19 vaccine for kids programme (PICKids) will officially kick off on 3 February 2022 at the Tunku Azizah Hospital in Kuala Lumpur.

However, it will only start in earnest from 22 February 2022 onwards.

COVID-19 Vaccine for Kids Not Mandatory

The COVID-19 vaccine for kids is not mandatory, just like how the vaccination programme for adults and adolescents are also not mandatory.

Parents Can Start Registering Their Kids

Parents can start registering their kids for the COVID-19 vaccine programme using the MySejahtera app.

Parents will be allowed to book appointments for their kids’ vaccinations starting 31 January 2022, with priority given to families living in the Klang Valley.

90% Efficacious

Even though the paediatric dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is only ⅓ that of the adult dose, it was shown to be 90.7% efficacious in preventing symptomatic COVID-19 infection.

Fewer Side Effects

The lower paediatric dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine naturally produced fewer side effects, with no severe side effects noted.

After almost 8.7 million doses of the paediatric vaccine were administered in the United States, the number of AEFI incidents were far lower than that of teenagers 12-17 years of age who were vaccinated with the full adult dose.

Longer Dose Interval

The Malaysia Ministry of Health will use a longer 8-week dose interval for Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for kids.

This will increase the immune response and has the potential to increase the longevity of the vaccine’s protection, as well reduce the risk of vaccine myocarditis.

You Should Sign Your Kids Up For COVID-19 Vaccine?

You may be wondering whether you should actually sign up your kids for the COVID-19 vaccine. After all, social media is rife with scary stories about vaccine side effects.

The truth is – all approved COVID-19 vaccines have not only been proven to be safe and effective in massive clinical trials, they have also been proven to be safe and effective after BILLIONS of doses were administered.

And why not? Vaccines are nothing more than self-defence classes for our immune system.

All they do is teach your children’s own immune system to identify the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and learn how to make antibodies against it so that they have a better chance of defending themselves against a real COVID-19 infection.

Over 8 million doses of the new Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for kids have also been successfully and safely administered in the United States. So yes, it is SAFE and EFFECTIVE.

People may tell you that kids do not get COVID-19, or they suffer only mild symptoms. That’s not really true.

In Malaysia, 579,624 children (less than 18 years old) were infected with COVID-19 in the last two years!

  • 269,773 (46.5%) of them were children 5 to 11 years in age.
  • 144 children (less than 18 years old) died from COVID-19.
  • 31 children 5 to 11 years in age died from COVID-19.

On top of that, children infected with COVID-19 are at risk of developing serious complications like Multi-System Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C) or long COVID.

So don’t believe naysayers when they tell you that your child will be safe from COVID-19. Not only have children died from COVID-19, others had to be hospitalised, and/or suffer from long COVID symptoms long after they recover.

Please remember – it’s YOUR CHILD, not theirs, that they are putting at risk with such misinformation.

Protect your children. Vaccinate them against COVID-19.

MySJ Trace : Frequently Asked Questions + Answers!

The new MySJ Trace feature has raised many questions, and here are the answers to your frequently asked questions!

MySJ Trace : Frequently Asked Questions + Answers!

Ever since the MySejahtera team launched the MySJ Trace feature, many questions were raised by people over its security, privacy, and usability.

So with help from Dr. Mahesh Appannan, the Head of Data at the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) of the Malaysia Ministry of Health (KKM), here are the answers to some of your frequently asked questions about MySJ Trace!

These answers supplement the original frequently asked questions (FAQ) about the MySJ Trace feature, which you can read in the next section.

Question #1 : Why Does MySJ Lists Interactions Even At Home?

The interactions refers to Bluetooth devices (with MySJ Trace enabled) that your MySejahtera app detected.

MySJ Trace can detect Bluetooth signals from as far as 10 metres away, but can be reduced by barriers (walls, your body, other electronics, etc.)

It will not only detect the smartphones of your family members (with MySJ Trace enabled), but also your neighbours, who can be in the floor above, below, or next to your home.

There is nothing to worry about these “interactions”. It just means you came within 10 metres of people who have MySJ Trace enabled.

Question #2 : Does Interactions Mean Casual / Close Contacts?

No, not all interactions are flagged as casual / close contacts, if you become COVID-19 positive.

The algorithm takes into account the signal strength (RSSI – Received Signal Strength Indicator) that your phone detects, and your exposure time.

The parameters used to classify casual or close contacts are refined over time for maximum accuracy. For example, if the Omicron variant becomes widespread, the exposure time will be shortened, and the distance extended, for someone to be considered a casual / close contact.

Question #3 : Why Do People In The Same Family Have Different Number Of Interactions?

Even if your family goes out together, you may all have different number of interactions, because it depends on a variety of facts :

  • your individual proximity to other people,
  • anything that blocks Bluetooth signals – their bodies, other electronics, electronic keys, etc.
  • whether you are holding the phone, or it is in your pocket, etc.

Question #4 : Does MySJ Trace Transmit My Data With Each Interaction?

No. There is no handshake or exchange of information with each interaction.

MySJ Trace detects the Bluetooth signal of other phones, and logs when that “interaction” occurred, and the signal strength.

It’s like listening to the radio – the broadcaster does not receive anything in return.

Question #5 : Does MySJ Trace Transmit My Data?

No. MySJ Trace stores all of the recorded data in your phone, and does not automatically upload it.

Only if you are COVID-19 positive, are you asked to upload your contact history for the last 14 days, so that people who were your close contact can be notified.

MySJ Trace requires your explicit consent to transmit your data to the Malaysia Ministry of Health (KKM).

Question #6 : How Long Does MySJ Trace Store Data?

MySJ Trace only stores data for the last 14 days, on a First-In, First-Out basis.

All data older than the most recent 14 days are automatically purged.

Question #7 : Why Do You Still Need To Check In Using QR Code?

First – not everyone is using MySJ Trace, so there still needs to be an alternative contact tracing method.

The QR code check-in function also gives KKM data to undertake faster contact tracing, especially involving a major cluster.

Question #8 : What’s The Difference Between MySJ Trace And QR Code Check-In?

MySJ Trace allows for automatic contact tracing, while QR code check-in gives KKM critical data. In addition :

  • MySJ Trace algorithm is based on time and distance (Bluetooth signal strength), while
  • Check-In algorithm is based only on time

Question #9 : Does MySJ Trace Use A Lot Of Battery Power?

MySJ Trace uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), which consumes significantly lower power than standard Bluetooth wireless communications. The impact on battery life is minimal.

Question #10 : Why Does MySJ Trace Not Use Exposure Notification By Google / Apple?

By Google and Apple standards, an Exposure Notification (EN) app must maintain user anonymity, and record proximity data anonymously. It cannot contain Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

The MySejahtera app necessarily contains your identity, vaccination status and certificates, and so on. Therefore, it cannot comply with Google and Apple’s requirements for an Exposure Notification app.

MySJ Trace : Should You Enable Or Disable?

Should you enable the new MySJ Trace feature in MySejahtera, or should you disable it?

Let’s take a look at people’s deepest fears about MySJ Trace, and find out what the facts really are!

MySJ Trace : Should You Enable Or Disable?

MySejahtera just introduced a new MySJ Trace feature, which uses Bluetooth technology to track your close contacts.

The proximity data it collects allows Malaysia Ministry of Health (KKM) to accurately determine if you are a close contact of a COVID-19 positive person.

KKM has been strongly urging people to turn it on, but many people are offering conflicting advice on whether to enable or disable it.

Let’s take at what people are saying, and find out what the facts really are!

Should You Enable MySJ Trace?

There are several good reasons to enable MySJ in MySejahtera :

  1. MySJ Trace allows for more accurate contact tracing. If you test positive for COVID-19, the data it collects lets KKM accurately identify your close contacts, and inform them.
  2. MySJ Trace automatically tracks your close contacts. All you have to do is turn it on, and forget about it.
  3. MySJ Trace removes the need to manually check out from locations, which was tedious and easy to forget.
  4. Those who use MySJ Trace will avoid being wrongly identified as casual or close contacts, due to the inaccuracy of using check-in and check-out times.

MySJ Trace gets more accurate and more useful, when more people use it. So KKM is strongly encouraging everyone to use it.

Plus, when enough people start using it, we will all enjoy an additional benefit :

  1. When enough people use MySJ Trace, we will no longer need to check-in at every location!

Read more : What You Need To Know About The New MySJ Trace Feature!
Read more : MySJ Trace : Answers To Your Frequently Asked Questions!

Should You Disable MySJ Trace?

Let’s take a look at some of the reasons why people are disabling MySJ Trace, and see what the facts really are!

Claim #1 : Government Uses MySJ Trace To Track Our Movements
Verdict : False

People are falsely claiming that the Malaysian government will use MySJ Trace to track our movements.

The truth is MySJ Trace does not record or collect geolocation data, so it cannot possibly track your movements.

MySJ Trace also does not transmit data, unless we consent. In fact, we are only asked to transmit MySJ Trace data if we test positive for COVID-19.

Claim #2 : MySJ Trace Not Useful Because No One Is Using It
Verdict : False

Some people are discouraging people from using MySJ Trace because “not many people are using it yet“.

Switching to MySJ Trace immediately helps you by removing the need to check-out of locations. Isn’t that useful?

For healthcare professionals who need to quickly and accurately trace close contacts of infected individuals, MySJ Trace works better when more people use it, but that doesn’t mean it’s completely useless when few people use it.

Claim #3 : Old Check-In, Check-Out System Is More Accurate
Verdict : False

Some people claim that the old method of checking in and out of locations is more accurate than MySJ Trace.

That may be true in the early days, when very few people are using it, but that is no longe true once many of your close contacts are using it.

MySJ Trace not only automatically determines who comes into close contact with you, it also logs how long they are in close contact, and their proximity (distance) to you.

The manual check-in and check-out system is unable to determine time of contact, and distance of contact; and can easily lead to false positives – people wrongly identified as casual or close contacts.

Claim #4 : MySJ Trace Uses A Lot Of Battery Life
Verdict : False

This is a real concern for many people as MySJ Trace requires Bluetooth to be turned on all the time. However, it uses Bluetooth Low Energy technology, which uses very little power.

I had earlier tested MySJ Trace on an old Samsung Galaxy S10 smartphone, and did not notice any noticeable drain on its battery life.

For people who have strong concerns over this aspect, it is possible to temporarily turn off MySJ Trace while you are at home, and only turn it on when you go out.

Claim #5 : Bluetooth Increases Risk Of Hacking
Verdict : Misleading

It is possible for criminals to hack your smartphone using Bluetooth, and it is good cybersecurity practice to turn off wireless connections that you are not using.

However, it is far more difficult to hack you through your Bluetooth connection, than your Wi-Fi connection.

After all, Bluetooth only has a range of 10 metres! The hacker will have to remain in close proximity to hack you.

Claim #6 : Hackers Can Grab Our Personal Information
Verdict : False

Some people are claiming that hackers can hack into MySJ Trace and use it to trawl for personal information of people nearby.

That’s nonsense, because MySJ Trace will only record the following information :

  • Unique User ID (UUID) that is created by the MySejahtera app.
  • Operating system version (Android or iOS)
  • Time of contact
  • Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI)

There is no personal information that would be useful to hackers, even if they grab these information.

The UUID, for example, is useless as an identification number without access to the KKM database of MySejahtera users and their personal information.

Claim #7 : MySJ Trace Continuously Uses Internet Data
Verdict : False

Some people are falsely claiming that MySJ Trace continuously uses Internet data, which is extremely limited for some users.

That’s not true. MySJ Trace does not require Internet connectivity, except :

  • when you first download and install MySejahtera,
  • whenever you update MySejahtera
  • when you consent to upload your MySJ Trace data to KKM

Since those are all optional, you can do it when you have access to a Wi-Fi network. You can use MySJ Trace without mobile Internet.

I hope that clarifies the reasons why you should enable or disable MySJ Trace. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask us.

Meanwhile, I hope you can share this article with your family and friends, and encourage them to turn on MySJ Trace.

Why The Government Can’t Use MySJ Trace To Track You!

People are worried that MySJ Trace lets the government track their location and movements 24/7.

Find out WHY this is simply not possible!

Claim : Government Can Use MySJ Trace To Track You 24/7

MySJ Trace is a new contact tracing feature that was just introduced in the MySejahtera app.

People are claiming that the government can use it to track your movements 24/7. Here is one example :

so the govt can trace our exact location at any given moment. great.

Though I guess there is probably several other apps or with the telcos help that they can already do exactly that.

Although surprisingly the police have been totally unable to locate the ex husband of Indira Gandhi or her children that the ex husband abducted, despite the court ordering the police to do so.

That’s really a typical response to any new MySejahtera feature – the government is introducing it to snoop on us. Our privacy is gone! They will know where we are!

Let’s find out what the facts really are…

Read more : Fact Check : Fat Bidin Claims On MySejahtera Snooping!

Truth : No One Can Use MySJ Trace To Track You 24/7

The truth is – this is yet another example of FAKE NEWS being shared on WhatsApp, and here are the reasons why it’s not possible for anyone to use it to track you 24/7…

Fact #1 : MySJ Trace Only Tracks Your Proximity

MySJ Trace does not actually detect your location, which is why you still need to check into locations manually.

It only detects and logs the Bluetooth signals of nearby smartphones with MySJ Trace enabled, to determine how close they are and how long they remain in proximity.

MySJ Trace also broadcasts itself to nearby devices, so that they can log its presence, distance and length of contact.

Fact #2 : MySJ Trace Does Not Collect Location Data

MySJ Trace does not collect geolocation data, only these data:

  • Unique User ID (UUID) that is created by the MySejahtera app.
  • Operating system version (Android or iOS)
  • Time of contact
  • Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI)

The Malaysia Ministry of Health confirmed this in no. 17 of their FAQ, stating that “geolocation data will not be collected“.

So there’s no way for the government to actually know where you are using only MySJ Trace data.

Fact #3 : MySJ Trace Only Stores 14 Days Of Data

The data that MySJ Trace records is only stored for the last 14 days, on a first-in, first out (FIFO) basis.

All data older than the most recent 14 days are automatically purged.

So even if a hacker gains access to it, he/she will only have access to your proximity contact data for the last 14 days.

Fact #4 : MySJ Trace Does Not Transmit Your Data Automatically

The proximity contact data that MySJ Trace logs is NOT automatically transmitted to the Malaysia Ministry of Health (KKM).

Only when you are identified as COVID-19 positive, will you be asked to submit your proximity contact data for the last 14 days.

Fact #5 : MySJ Trace Data Is Stored + Used Only By KKM

Your proximity data that you upload will be stored in a secured database server managed by the Malaysia Ministry of Health (KKM).

Only KKM has access to your uploaded proximity data, which will be used to determine your close contacts so they can be notified.

Fact #6 : We Are Not That Interesting…

Frankly, most of us are not that interesting to the government. They are not interested in where you live or travel to, what you eat or buy, or even who you are sleeping with.

All that data is interesting and useful to corporations, but not the Malaysian government. Please remember – you are living in Malaysia, not China or North Korea.

Why would the government want to know where you are, or where you have gone, or who you have met?

Fact #7 : There Are Easier Ways To Find You…

Finally, the “fear” of the government using MySJ Trace to track where you are at all times is frankly, ludicrous because there are far easier ways to do it.

The truth is – our geolocation data is readily available to your mobile service provider, as well as cloud and social media service providers (Google, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc.)

If the government really wants to know where you are, they can simply get a court order to force your mobile service provider to tell them where you are right now.

They don’t have to rely on an opt-in feature in the MySejahtera app, and wait until you submit your own proximity data…

Now that you know the facts, please TURN ON MySJ Trace, to improve contact tracing!

And please SHARE this fact check with your family and friends!

New MySJ Trace Feature : What You Need To Know!

MySejahtera has a new feature called MySJ Trace, which logs your close contacts for more accurate contact tracing.

Here is what you need to know about the new MySejahtera feature!

MySJ Trace : New Tracking Feature In MySejahtera

Currently, MySejahtera relies on manual logging in at various entry points, which results in many false positives and false negatives.

  • false positive : you wrongly get identified as a close or casual contact
  • false negative : you are not flagged as a close contact, even when you come into close proximity with a COVID-19 positive person

To eliminate those errors, MySejahtera is introducing a new and more accurate contact tracing feature called MySJ Trace.

Similar to Singapore’s TraceTogether app, MySJ Trace uses Bluetooth technology to more accurately determine your proximity to other people, so MySejahtera can better determine if you are a close contact, or not.

It also removes the need to manually check out from the locations you checked in earlier.

MySejahtera : How To Clear App Cache To Resolve Problems!

If you face problems in MySejahtera, clearing its App Cache is a quick way to resolve them.

Here is our step-by-step guide on how to clear the MySejahtera App Cache!

Why You Need To Clear MySejahtera App Cache

MySejahtera has improved greatly since it was first launched, but many users still complain of various bugs and problems.

For example, your vaccination status may not appear correctly. Many people have also reported that they were unable to generate and/or download their COVID-19 vaccination certificate.

The most common solution to this problem is to delete and reinstall MySejahtera. But before you do that, you can actually try to clear its App Cache.

How To Clear MySejahtera App Cache : Video Guide

Here is our video guide on how to clear the MySejahtera App Cache on Android smartphones.

Unfortunately, there is no such option for the iPhone.

How To Clear MySejahtera App Cache : Pictorial Guide

For those who prefer a pictorial guide, here is our step-by-step guide on how to clear the MySejahtera app cache.

Step 1 : Look for Settings in your Android smartphone.

Step 2 : Scroll down the list of available settings, and tap on Apps.

Step 3 : Tap on the Search icon on the upper right corner of Apps.

Step 4 : Type “mysejahtera” and when it appears, tap on MySejahtera.

Step 5 : Scroll down and tap on the Storage option.

Step 6 : In the MySejahtera Storage page, tap on the Clear cache option at the bottom.

Warning : Do NOT tap on Clear data, as that would wipe out your login data. It will be like you deleted and reinstalled MySejahtera.

But if you did it anyway, don’t worry. Your other MySejahtera data is still safely stored in the cloud. You just need to log into MySejahtera again.

That’s it! That clears the MySejahtera app cache! Simple enough, isn’t it?

You can now log into MySejahtera to see if that resolves your problem.

Bonus Step : Delete App Data Too!

If it still did NOT resolve your problem, you can repeat the steps above, and tap on Clear data instead of just tapping on Clear cache.

But be warned that this step will wipe out your login data, so you will need to log into MySejahtera after this. It will be similar to deleting and reinstalling MySejahtera.

Don’t forget to SHARE this guide with your friends!

Malaysia To Vaccinate Children Under 12 Only In 2022!

Even though the Pfizer vaccine has been approved for children under 12, Malaysia will only be able to vaccinate them in 2022!

Here is what we know so far…

Malaysia To Vaccinate Children Under 12 Only In 2022!

On 29 October 2021, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said that Malaysia will proceed to procure the Pfizer vaccine for kids.

This came after the US FDA advisory panel voted on 26 October to recommend the use of the Pfizer paediatric vaccine in children 5-11 years old.

Almost immediately, parents rushed to register their children under 12 using an existing MySejahtera hack.

Read more : Can 5-11 Yo Kids Start Registering For COVID-19 Vaccine?

However, on 11 November 2021, the Malaysia Ministry of Health (KKM) said that they only expect to start vaccinating children under 12 in 2022.

The ministry was responding to a query by the Member of Parliament Wong Chen (PH-Subang) who wanted to know about the ministry’s plan to vaccinate children under 12.

In their written reply to the Parliament, the Ministry of Health said that only the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is available for use in children below 12, and is awaiting regulatory approval from the European Union and the United States.

Pfizer is also expected to submit data related to the vaccine registration for use in children below 12 by the end of this year to the NPRA (National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency) for evaluation and approval.

That is actually not accurate. The US FDA approved the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine in children under 12 on 29 October 2021.

The United States started vaccinating children under 12 in early November, with 360,000 children receiving their first shots by the first week.

What Malaysia Will Use To Vaccinate Children Under 12

Currently, the only vaccine to be approved for use in children under 12 is the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.

This is a lower-dose paediatric version of the COMIRNATY mRNA vaccine, with improved formulation :

  • Each dose is only 10 micrograms – ⅓ of the dose used for adults and adolescents.
  • It is a slightly smaller 0.2 ml intramuscular injection.
  • Vaccine dose interval remains at 21 days between Dose 1 and Dose 2.
  • Proven in Phase 3 trial to be 90.7% efficacious in preventing COVID-19 infections.
  • Proven to produce high neutralising antibodies against the Delta variant.
  • The improved formulation allows for the vaccine to be kept in a normal refrigerator for up to 10 weeks.

How To Fix WRONG HSO + PUS Status In MySejahtera!

MySejahtera WRONGLY issued Home Surveillance Orders (HSO) and Person Under Surveillance (PUS) status, causing chaos for users.

Fortunately, that has been fixed, but here was what you can do if your HSO / PUS status persists…

Chaos As MySejahtera WRONGLY Issued HSO + PUS Status!

Overnight, MySejahtera suddenly issued people with Home Surveillance Orders (HSO) and/or gave them Person Under Surveillance (PUS) status.

This was a BIG PROBLEM because those who received them would be BARRED from leaving their homes. And if they have a flight scheduled that day, they would be barred from flying.

Many people who received them expressed their shock online, especially when they did not travel recently.

Lokidesu, for example, said that he received a notification at 2 AM this morning that he is now a Person Under Surveillance (PUS) even though he never went out :

I’m only staying at home all the time, then suddenly today I receive a notification saying my status is now “Person Under Surveillance (PUS)”. For my history,I have not even go out anywhere within 14 days, please check into this. Timestamp screenshot: 7 Nov 2021 2am

Another MySejahtera user, Yen, wondered how she was labelled as a PUS and received a Home Surveillance Order at 4 AM in the morning, even though she had no history of travelling or close contacts.

Hi, I have no history of travelling overseas, no close contact, no positive covid, but suddenly I was labeled as a person under surveillance (PUS) which require 14 days quarantine. Please follow up and fix ASAP as this is not correct!

Good News : MySejahtera HSO + PUS Bug Fixed!

Fortunately, the MySejahtera team managed to get the bug fixed, which they announced at 8:49 AM.

The incorrect Home Surveillance Orders and Person Under Surveillance status were all rescinded.

Good morning everyone – we apologise for the error on our part which allowed random users’ to be given HSOs/PUS status.

We have fixed the root cause which allowed this to happen. All incorrect HSOs have been deleted, and incorrect PUS status reverted.

What If Your MySejahtera Still Shows Incorrect HSO / PUS?

In the event that your MySejahtera app still shows the incorrect HSO or PUS notification, here are some steps you can try :

Option 1 : Log Into MySejahtera Again

The easiest thing you can try is to log off MySejahtera, and log back in again.

  • Go to the MySejahtera main page
  • Tap on Profile
  • Tap on the Menu option on the upper right corner
  • Select Logout
  • Open MySejahtera and log back in

Option 2 : Clear MySejahtera App Cache

If you know how to clear the MySejahtera app cache, you can try that too :

  • Go to your phone Settings > Apps
  • Look for MySejahtera
  • Clear the MySejahtera app cache
  • Run MySejahtera again

Option 3 : Reinstall MySejahtera

If you don’t know how to clear the app cache, it will be simpler to just reinstall MySejahtera :

  • Delete MySejahtera from your phone (don’t worry – your data is safe)

Can 5-11 Yo Kids Start Registering For COVID-19 Vaccine?

Can you start registering your 5-11 year old kids for the COVID-19 vaccine?

Find out what has gone viral, and what the FACTS really are!

Claim : You Can Start Registering 5-11 Yo Kids For COVID-19 Vaccine!

This message has gone viral on WhatsApp, claiming that you can start registering 5-11 year-old kids for the COVID-19 vaccine.

For children 5-12 yo, can start to register for vaccination at MySejahtera.

First: remove dependant at ‘manage dependants’
Then: add vaccine dependant at ‘covid-19 vaccination’
Lastly: after successfully registered, add details again at ‘manage dependant’

Truth : 5-11 Yo Kids CANNOT Register For COVID-19 Vaccine Right Now!

This viral message is yet another COVID-19 vaccine-related FAKE NEWS on WhatsApp, and here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : Pfizer Paediatric Vaccine Was Just FDA-Approved!

The FDA advisory panel voted on 26 October to recommend the approval of an Emergency Use Authorisation (EUA) for the Pfizer paediatric vaccine.

Only on 29 October 2021 did the US FDA officially approve the Pfizer paediatric vaccine for use in 5-11 year-old children.

Even so, it will take time for CDC to come up with guidelines on who should get the new paediatric vaccine first, and even more time for other countries to get their vaccine doses.

Fact #2 : Pfizer Vaccine For 5-11 Year-Old Kids Not NPRA-Approved Yet!

Even though the Pfizer paediatric vaccine is approved by the US FDA, it must also be approved by the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) of the Malaysia Ministry of Health.

Until that happens, the vaccine cannot be used to vaccinate anyone in Malaysia, certainly not children below 12 years of age.

Read more : Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine For Kids : What You Need To Know!

Fact #3 : Malaysia Has NOT Even Purchased The Vaccine!

On 29 October 2021, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said that Malaysia will proceed to procure the Pfizer vaccine for kids.

That means the government will start negotiating with Pfizer to purchase their paediatric COVID-19 vaccine for use in Malaysia.

In other words – we have NOT purchased the vaccine yet!

Fact #4 : Malaysia Has Not Announced Registration For 5-11 Yo Kids

As of 30 October 2021, the Malaysian government, and the Malaysia Ministry of Health (KKM) has NOT announced that parents are allowed to register their 5-11 year-old kids for the COVID-19 vaccine.

Currently, only adolescents who are 12-17 years old are allowed to register for COVID-19 vaccination in Malaysia.

Fact #5 : MySejahtera Does Not Yet Permit <12 Yo Registration

The latest MySejahtera – version 1.0.49 – does NOT permit the registration of children below 12 years of age.

If you attempt to add your child as a Vaccine Dependent, you will be asked to confirm that your child is over 12 years old.

Fact #6 : Method Exploits Existing MySejahtera Bug

The method outlined above exploits an existing bug in MySejahtera that allows you to bypass the age verification page.

This was the same bug that allowed parents to register their 12-17 years old children earlier this year, before the government announced that they would be allowed to.

It is really no different than just tapping the check box to confirm that your dependent is over 12 years old, even if he/she isn’t.

Fact #7 : Your Registration May Fail

I actually tested this bug earlier this year by registering my 12 year-old son using this “hack”.

But when the official registration opened, I noticed that his registration “disappeared”. I had to register him again.

When I checked his vaccination details, it says that he registered at the later date, instead of the earlier date when I used the hack.

I’m not sure if this will happen again with this hack, but if you choose to use it, please CHECK your child’s vaccine registration when they officially open it up for 5-11 year-old kids.

The time will come when we will be allowed to register children below 12 years of age, but that time has not yet arrive.

Until then, the viral message is nothing more than FAKE NEWS! Please alert your family and friends, share this fact check with them!

How To Delete + Migrate Vaccine Dependent In MySejahtera?

Now that we will all need to show our digital vaccination certificate, find out how to DELETE and/or MIGRATE your vaccine dependent in MySejahtera!

MySejahtera : Why Delete + Migrate Vaccine Dependent?

I earlier taught you how to add a vaccine dependent to your MySejahtera account, allowing you to help another person to sign up for vaccination, if he/she does not have MySejahtera.

However, you will probably want to remove or migrate your vaccine dependents to their own MySejahtera accounts, so they can show their own digital vaccination certificate.

Deleting a vaccine dependent is easy, but migrating is another question altogether – will you lose your COVID-19 vaccine registration?

MySejahtera : How To Delete + Migrate Vaccine Dependent?

Technically, all vaccine registrations are tied to the person’s MyKad or passport number.

So once you registered a person for vaccination, that application remains in the system, even if you delete him/her as a vaccine dependent.

Thanks to one of our readers, Jerzy Awei, we have now the confirmed steps on how to safely migrate your vaccine dependents to their own MySejahtera accounts.

Here is our video on how to do just that!

For those who simply need to know how to delete a vaccine dependent, please skip straight to Part 2.

Part 1 : Register New MySejahtera Account For Vaccine Dependent

This part is only necessary if you want to migrate your vaccine dependent to his/her own MySejahtera account.

  1. Download and install MySejahtera from these app stores into your dependent’s smartphone :
    Google Play Store
    Apple App Store
    HUAWEI App Gallery
    GAMMA
  2. Open MySejahtera and tap on Register Here.
  3. Key in your dependent’s mobile number or email address (Note : this will become be your dependent’s MySJ ID).
  4. MySejahtera will send your dependent’s mobile number or email address an OTP (One Time Pin).
Key that in, and tap Send, to verify your dependent’s registration.
  5. Key in your dependent’s personal details.
  6. Set a password for your dependent and tap Confirm.

That’s it! You have successfully set up MySejahtera for your dependent!

Part 2 : Deleting Vaccine Dependent From MySejahtera Account

  1. Open MySejahtera in your smartphone.
  2. Tap on the Close button on the upper right corner of the default Check-in screen.
  3. You should see the MySejahtera main screen, with the COVID-19 Vaccination option.
  4. Tap on the COVID-19 Vaccination option.

  1. Tap on the second option – Add Vaccine Dependent.

  1. You will be shown a screen with your registered dependents.
  2. To delete the vaccine dependent, simply tap on the Remove vaccine dependent link.

Part 3 : Updating Dependent MySejahtera

  1. Open MySejahtera in your dependent’s smartphone.
  2. Tap on the Close button on the upper right corner of the default Check-in screen.
  3. You should see the MySejahtera main screen, with the COVID-19 Vaccination option.
  4. Tap on the COVID-19 Vaccination option.

  1. Select Vaccine for [your dependent’s name]

  1. You will be asked to verify your dependent’s Name, IC / Passport No and MySJ ID. Tap Confirm if they are correct.

  1. Skip the vaccine registration process (unless you need to update it).
  2. Go back and tap on the Vaccine for [your dependent’s name] again.

  1. Your dependent’s vaccine appointment should now be visible!
If your dependent is vaccinated, then you should be able to view his / her COVID-19 vaccination digital certificate.

I hope you found this guide useful.

Please don’t forget to SHARE this out with your family and friends, so they will also know how to delete and migrate their vaccine dependents!

Vaccine Exemption Certificate In Malaysia : How To Get One?

Find out how to get a COVID-19 vaccine exemption in Malaysia, with a digital certificate in MySejahtera!

Vaccine Exemption Certificate In Malaysia : What Is It?

Everyone who gets vaccinated in Malaysia receives a MySejahtera digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate, as well as a physical vaccination card.

They are both accepted as proof of your vaccination, but the digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate is definitely much more convenient to use.

But what about those who cannot get vaccinated? They can’t get the vaccine, and won’t be able to freely work or travel.

Fortunately, there is a solution – a digital vaccine exemption certificate in MySejahtera, granting them the same privileges as those who are fully-vaccinated.

Vaccine Exemption Certificate In Malaysia : How To Get One?

First, it must be pointed out that the vaccine exemption certificate will only be issued to those who cannot be vaccinated due to medical issues.

It will not be issued to those who choose not to be vaccinated out of personal conviction, philosophical or religious reasons.

Hence, it requires a pre-vaccination assessment to be conducted by a medical professional at a private hospital or a government clinic / hospital.

Read more : Is COVID-19 Vaccine Useless Against Delta Variant?

Here are the steps you need to take to obtain the vaccine exemption certificate :

  1. Obtain a Pre-Vaccination Assessment Slip from any of these medical professionals :
    a) your treating medical professional at a private hospital,
    b) a family medicine specialist at a government clinic, or
    c) a treating specialist / medical officer at a specialist government hospital
  2. Submit the Pre-Vaccination Assessment Slip to the nearest District Health Office (PKD).
  3. Your application will be processed within 7 days.

You can use this Malaysia Ministry of Health (KKM) directory to locate the nearest District Health Office (PKD).

Once it’s been verified that you have an absolute contraindication to any of the approved COVID-19 vaccine, you will receive the COVID-19 vaccine exemption digital certificate in MySejahtera.

This will grant you the same privileges as those who are fully-vaccinated.

Both interstate travel and international travel are now ALLOWED across Malaysia!

Here are the new requirements for interstate and international travel in Malaysia!

Malaysia : Interstate + International Travel Now Allowed!

On 10 October 2021, the Prime Minister of Malaysia Ismail Sabri announced that 90% of the population* in Malaysia has been fully vaccinated.

Therefore, he announced that both interstate travel and international travel will be allowed in Malaysia, beginning Monday, 11 October 2021.

He also said that the government does not plan to reimpose any interstate and international travel ban, even if COVID-19 cases increase, and that any measures taken will be limited to a particular hot spots.

* based on the last census, so the actual percentage is significantly lower than 90%.

Malaysia : Interstate + International Travel Requirements

Here are some details and restrictions on interstate travel that you need to know :

  • In addition to interstate travel, interstate tourism is also allowed.
  • There is no need to request for police permission to travel interstate.
  • Only FULLY-VACCINATED individuals (and children who are 17 years or younger) are allowed to travel interstate or enjoy interstate tourism.
  • There will not be no interstate roadblocks to control travel, but there will continue to be roadblocks for crime and safety purposes.
  • The police will also randomly check to verify that those travelling interstate are fully-vaccinated.
  • Even if unvaccinated / those who are not fully vaccinated travel, they will still be denied entry to many public places.
  • Owners of food premises, grocery shops, shopping malls, sports facilities, gyms, offices and so on are reminded to check for vaccination status as well as COVID-19 risk status in MySejahtera before allowing entry.
  • Travellers are NOT allowed to enter EMCO / PKPD areas.
  • Travellers are strongly advised to test for COVID-19 before travelling, but this is not a requirement.
  • Travellers must comply with the existing COVID-19 SOP.

When it comes to international travel though, there are a few requirements and details you need to know :

  • The government has abolished MyTravelPass. There is NO NEED to register for MyTravelPass.
  • Overseas travel, including international tourism, is permitted to all other countries.
  • However, foreign tourists are still NOT allowed to enter Malaysia. Entry is only permitted for travellers entering Malaysia for official, business or emergency reasons.
  • Only FULLY-VACCINATED individuals (and children who are 17 years or younger) can travel overseas.
  • Travellers returning to Malaysia must also :
    – undergo a swab test three (3) days before returning to Malaysia,
    – undergo a swab test on returning to Malaysia, and
    – undergo a MANDATORY QUARANTINE of 14 days.
  • Malaysian residents can self-quarantine at home, but in certain cases (like when positive cases are detected), the Health Ministry may place them in quarantine centres.

Read more : Who Needs To Apply For MyTravelPass + Who Don’t?

Please note that in Malaysia, you are considered FULLY-VACCINATED only after :

2 Ways To Get MySejahtera Certificate For Overseas Vaccine!

Here are TWO WAYS to apply for a MySejahtera digital vaccination certificate if you received your COVID-19 vaccine overseas!

MySejahtera Digital Vaccination Certificate For Overseas Vaccine?

Everyone who gets vaccinated in Malaysia receives a MySejahtera digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate, as well as a physical vaccination card.

They are both accepted as proof of your vaccination, but the digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate is definitely much more convenient to use.

You can still use your physical vaccination card, but you will still need to show your MySejahtera profile for them to verify your identity. So it’s not as convenient.

2 Ways To Get MySejahtera Certificate For Overseas Vaccine!

If you received your COVID-19 vaccine overseas, you are in a pickle because you will not have this MySejahtera digital vaccination certificate.

Neither can you use your overseas physical vaccine card, as it is not recognised in Malaysia.

Fortunately, there are TWO (2) ways to get your overseas COVID-19 vaccine recognised, and obtain the MySejahtera digital vaccination certificate!

Option 1 : Walk Into Nearest District Health Office

On 5 September 2021, JKJAV – the Special Committee on COVID-19 Vaccine Supply – announced how those who were vaccinated overseas can get their digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate :

  1. Go to the nearest District Health Office (PKD).
  2. Submit evidence that you have been fully vaccinated overseas to the PKD officials.
This can either be a physical vaccination card, or the digital vaccination certificate issued by the particular country.
  3. PKD officials will verify and send the information on your overseas vaccination to MySejahtera through the State Health Department.
  4. You will receive your digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate in MySejahtera.

You can use this Malaysia Ministry of Health (KKM) directory to locate the nearest District Health Office (PKD).

Option 2 : Submit Through MySejahtera

On 4 October 2021, JKJAV introduced a more convenient option – registering your overseas vaccine details through the MySejahtera app or website.

  1. Open the MySejahtera app, and click Close on the default check-in page.
Alternatively, open the MySejahtera Helpdesk on your web browser, and go to Step 3.
  2. Tap on the MySejahtera Helpdesk option in the main screen.
  3. Tap option N – I have received my vaccination overseas and would like to obtain my digital vaccination certificate in MySejahtera.
  4. Key in your telephone number and email address.
  5. Select whether you had the first dose only, the second dose only, or both doses.
  6. You will be asked to fill in your vaccination details.
  7. Finally, you will need to ppload a picture of your foreign vaccination card or document.

Once verified, your overseas vaccine details will be submitted to the MySejahtera team, and you will be issued a digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate.

If you need a step-by-step guide with pictures, please see our guide, How To Register Overseas Vaccination In MySejahtera!

Truth : KKM + MySejahtera SMS Messages Are Legit!

The SMS messages in the screenshot are legit, and came from KKM and MySejahtera.

The truth is that viral message is FAKE NEWS, and here are the facts…

Fact #1 : The MySejahtera SMS Message Is Legitimate

The MySejahtera SMS message in English is legitimate. It warns you that you have tested positive for COVID-19.

You are therefore required to declare your close contacts in the MySejahtera app or website.

The link – https://bit.ly/3jNvOqL – leads to the Close Contact reporting page in the MySejahtera website (https://mysejahtera.malaysia.gov.my/help/closecontact/).

Fact #2 : The KKM Telephone Number Is Genuine

On 24 September 2021, KKM confirmed that the 03-2703-3000 telephone number is genuine.

The Malaysia Ministry of Health uses that telephone number to call those identified as COVID-19 positive to fill up their Home Assessment Tool (HAT) in the MySejahtera app.

Fact #3 : The KKM SMS Message Is Legitimate

The KKM SMS message in Bahasa Malaysia is also legitimate.

It is a reminder that you did not fill in your Home Assessment Tool (HAT) in the MySejahtera app today.

Those who are under home quarantine must complete that home assessment test every day.

The Ministry of Health may issue a compound if you fail to perform the home assessment test, as required.

The link in the SMS – https://bit.ly/2VMaWrC – actually leads to a PDF infographic on the Home Assessment Tool (HAT) – https://www.infosihat.gov.my/images/media_sihat/poster/pdf/DiManakahHAT.pdf

The infographic explains who needs to perform self-monitoring using the HAT feature, and how to do it in the MySejahtera app.

Now that you know the truth, please SHARE this fact check, so your family and friends won’t be fooled by the fake news!

It is critical that everyone understands that these alerts are genuine, and take them seriously!

Malaysia To Vaccinate 80% Adolescents By March 2022!

Malaysia aims to vaccinate 80% of adolescents before they start the new school year in March 2022!

Find out how they plan to achieve that!

Malaysia To Vaccinate 80% Adolescents By March 2022!

On 15 September 2021, the Malaysian government announced their aim to vaccinate 80% of adolescents before they start the new school year in March 2022.

To this end, they created CITF-A (COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force-Adolescent) to set the policies and coordinate the implementation of the adolescent vaccination plan.

The adolescent vaccination program will offer the COVID-19 vaccine to adolescent 12 to 17 years old, but will prioritise 16 and 17 year old adolescents and those with co-morbidities.

The program will also include students in private education institutes, teenagers in protection or rehabilitation institutes, as well as adolescents who are homeless, undocumented migrants and foreigners.

How Malaysia Will Vaccinate 80% Adolescents By March 2022!

For Institutes : Vaksin-Anak-Ku Portal

The Ministry of Health have developed a Vaksin-Anak-Ku (My Child’s Vaccine) portal for institutions to use.

All schools, educational institutes, public and private protection and rehabilitation institutes are requested to register their establishments in this portal.

For Parents : MySejahtera Registration

Parents and guardians will need to register their children as Vaccine Dependents in MySejahtera.

This will allow these adolescents to receive their own COVID-19 digital vaccination certificate later.

Vaccine Offered : Pfizer Comirnaty

Malaysia will offer adolescents the Pfizer Comirnaty vaccine, which was approved on 15 June 2021 for children of 12 to 17 years in age.

Like adults, they will be given two doses for maximum protection against COVID-19.

Three Vaccination Methods

Adolescents in Malaysia will receive the COVID-19 vaccination through three different methods :

  1. Scheduled outreach program to the school by a vaccination team that can comprise of government employees, private medical practitioners or medical NGOs.To make it easier for students who are sitting for major exams in full or daily boarding schools, they will be given appointments for the first dose at a private clinic or school nearest to their homes, followed by the second dose in their boarding schools or where they had their first dose (if their schools remain closed).
  2. Adolescents with co-morbidities will receive their COVID-19 vaccination in the clinic or hospital that is treating them for their pre-existing diseases.
  3. Adolescents who cannot be present with their parents or guardian will be given appointments at the nearest private clinic through MySejahtera.

CITF-A Target : 80% Vaccinated By March 2022

CITF-A is targeting to give 60% of adolescents 12 to 17 years of age at least 1 dose of the vaccine in November 2021.

And they aim to fully vaccinate 80% of all adolescents in Malaysia before the new school year starts in March 2022.

New In MySejahtera : Risk Level, Vax Status + Check-Out!

MySejahtera just introduced a more prominent display of your COVID-19 risk level and vaccination status, as well as a new Check-out button!

New In MySejahtera : Risk Level + Vaccination Status Display

Now that a majority of Malaysians have been vaccinated – 60% of all adult citizens as of 2 September 2021 – the government believes it is time to learn to live with COVID-19.

To that end, the MySejahtera team will be pushing out a new built (version) that will make the display of your COVID-19 Risk Level and Vaccination Status more prominent.

Both are currently “hidden” in your MySejahtera profile, and the update will bring them to the forefront, to make it easier for you to display them.

New In MySejahtera : Check-Out Button

One design flaw of the original MySejahtera contact tracing feature is that it only logged when you check INTO a location. There was never an option to check OUT of a location.

Belatedly, the MySejahtera team will be adding a check-out button. You just need to tap Check-out whenever you leave the premise – there is no need to scan any QR code.

With this feature, you will be able to let contact tracers know exactly how long you were within a certain premise.

Without knowing exactly how long you were in a certain premise, contact tracers will not be able to determine if you are truly at risk of being a close contact of a COVID-19 infected person.

For example, if you pop into Village Grocer for 15 minutes and a COVID-19 positive person came to shop an hour later, contact tracers will not know if you are at risk if they do not know when you left the store.

This will inevitably lead to a large number of people wrongly identified as close contacts, when they were never at risk at all.

This new check-out feature will be critical in reducing the number of false close contacts who will be required to home quarantine.

When Will These New MySejahtera Features Be Available?

These new features will be available in MySejahtera 1.0.45, with these changes :

  • Enhancements to check-in page to display vaccination status
  • New Check-out feature
  • Minor bug fixes

It was made available in the Apple App Store for iPhone users on 2 September, but only appeared in the Google Play Store for Android users on 5 September 2021.

Missing COVID-19 Status In MySejahtera? Here’s Why!

Did the COVID-19 Status option in your MySejahtera app suddenly disappear?

Find out what’s going on, and how to get it back again!

Missing COVID-19 Status In MySejahtera?

The MySejahtera app can be quite buggy, and people have noticed how sometimes the COVID-19 status option can mysteriously DISAPPEAR!

On the left is what you should see – COVID-19 Status is the first option available in MySejahtera.

On the right is what some people are getting – the option is missing!

They have tried checking in the More section, updating MySejahtera, flushing the app cache, and even reinstalling it.

But nothing worked – COVID-19 Status is confirmed missing in MySejahtera. So what’s going on???

Here’s Why COVID-19 Status Goes Missing In MySejahtera!

Now, MySejahtera has its share of bugs, but the missing COVID-19 Status option appears to be INTENTIONAL.

This status update feature is meant for a Low Risk person to alert the Malaysia Ministry of Health to any change to their risk status :

  • Started exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms?
  • Travelled overseas?
  • Had contact with a positive COVID-19 patient?
  • Attended any mass gathering in the past 14 days?

To avoid misuse, MySejahtera appears to have designed to automatically REMOVE the status update option for people who are NO LONGER Low Risk.

  • Casual Contact
  • Close Contact
  • Person Under Surveillance (PUS)
  • Suspected Case
  • Confirmed Case

How To Get Back Missing COVID-19 Status In MySejahtera?

You don’t have to do anything.

Once your COVID-19 status has officially returned to Low Risk, the feature will automatically reappear in your MySejahtera app.

You should note that you do NOT need to keep updating your COVID-19 Status in MySejahtera.

The Malaysia Ministry of Health just issued a clarification of their own, to avoid any further misunderstandings.

You are only required to update your COVID-19 status in MySejahtera in these cases :

  1. You have symptoms like fever, cough, headache, sore throat, breathing difficulty, loss of smell, loss of taste, or
  2. You have recent history of travelling overseas, or
  3. You have close contact with COVID-19 positive cases, or
  4. You attended any event, or been to areas associated with a known COVID-19 cluster.

Based on the questions asked, you should also update your status if you are a MOH COVID-19 volunteer in the last 14 days.

Otherwise, you are NOT REQUIRED to update your status in MySejahtera. You will certainly NOT BE FINED if you don’t do it.

Now that you know what’s going on, please SHARE this article with your family and friends too!

How To Use Digital Consent Form In MySejahtera!

MySejahtera has a new Digital Consent Form feature for the COVID-19 vaccine!

Find out what this new feature is all about, and how to use it!

MySejahtera Launches Digital Consent Form For Vaccination!

MySejahtera has finally introduced a Digital Consent Form!

This new feature allows you to read through the form and consent to COVID-19 vaccination, before you even head to the vaccination centre!

This feature also shortens the amount of time you spend at the vaccination centre, by removing the need to read and sign the consent form there.

How To Use Digital Consent Form In MySejahtera!

The Digital Consent Form for COVID-19 vaccination is available with MySejahtera version 1.0.40 onwards.

There are a couple of things to note about this new feature :

  1. It only applies to those who have NOT received their first vaccine dose, and therefore, have NOT signed a physical consent form.
  2. If you have already received your first vaccine dose, or signed a physical consent form, you do NOT need to use this digital form.
  3. You need to read and fill up the Digital Consent Form BEFORE heading to the vaccination centre.

Follow these steps to use the Digital Consent Form feature in MySejahtera :

  1. Make sure you have already installed MySejahtera 1.0.40 or later.
  2. Open MySejahtera and tap Close on the default Check-in screen.
  3. Tap on the COVID-19 Vaccination option.

  1. You will see a list of Vaccination registrations (including Vaccine Dependents, if you have any).
  2. Select the Vaccination registration you need.
  3. Scroll to the 1st Dose appointment section, and you should see the option to :
Click here to confirm your digital consent, or
Click here to confirm your dependent’s digital consent (for your Vaccine Dependents)

  1. You will see a list of Vaccination registrations (including Vaccine Dependents, if you have any).
  2. Read through the form, and tick any necessary checkboxes for your health history.
  3. Once you are satisfied, tick “With this, I agree to receive the COVID-19 vaccine” option and tap Submit.

That’s it! Your vaccine appointment will be updated to show that you digitally consented to the vaccine.

Once this is done, the process for your vaccine appointment will shorter and smoother.

You won’t even need to bring a pen and something stiff to write on!

So please try to use this Digital Consent Form feature in MySejahtera, and tell your friends about it!

Can You Use MySejahtera To Choose COVID-19 Vaccine?

Can you use MySejahtera to choose the COVID-19 vaccine you prefer? Pfizer? Sinovac? AstraZeneca?

Take a look at the viral claim, and find out what the FACTS really are!

Can You Use MySejahtera To Choose COVID-19 Vaccine?

This viral message has been circulating on WhatsApp for several weeks now, advising people on how to get JKJAV to give them the COVID-19 vaccine they prefer.

Hi All, Greetings,
On Choosing your vaccine via Mysejahterah is possible

You can request for Sinovac or Astra Zeneca or Pfizer,

– just go to Helpdesk ,
– scroll down to L other queries
– then select E for other issues
– key in/ type – request for Sinovac or Pfizer,
– then press Next & submit.

They will reply u thru email on your request

Any preference jab u want can be requested

Share to those friends who haven’t got their appointments yet

This was How I chose & Waiting for their Appointment date

Truth : You CANNOT Use MySejahtera To Choose COVID-19 Vaccine!

JKJAV has always said that you cannot choose the COVID-19 vaccine you are given, unless you opted into the AstraZeneca programme.

So I knew that the viral message was FALSE, and I told many people that. However, how can we prove it?

Fact #1 : JKJAV Says It’s Not True!

On 5 July 2021, we finally confirmed with JKJAV that the viral message is FAKE.

The MySejahtera Helpdesk feature in the message does nothing more than let you email the JKJAV team.

However, they will not entertain any request for specific COVID-19 vaccines.

This is the same abuse of the Helpdesk that JKJAV warned against just a few days ago.

Recommended : Stop Using MySejahtera Helpdesk For Vaccine Appointment!

Fact #2 : Early Vaccination More Important Than Vaccine Efficacy

People who are trying to pick and choose their COVID-19 vaccine are not thinking straight.

With COVID-19 raging across Malaysia, it does not pay to wait until you get the vaccine you prefer.

The truth is vaccine efficacy does not really matter. All approved COVID-19 vaccines will protect you against severe disease and death!

COVID-19 Vaccine Protection Against
Symptomatic
Infection
Severe
Disease
Death
Pfizer Comirnaty 95.0% 100% 100%
Moderna mRNA-1273 94.1% 100% 100%
Gamaleya Sputnik V 91.6% 100% 100%
AstraZeneca AZD1222 76% ~ 85% 100% 100%
Novavax Covovax 60 ~ 89% 100% 100%
CanSino Convidecia 65.7% 90.98% 100%
Sinopharm BBIBP-CorV 79% ~ 86% 90% 100%
J&J Janssen COVID-19 66.0% 85% 100%
Sinovac CoronaVac 50.65% 83.7% 100%

Instead of worrying about which vaccine you are getting, you should be FOCUSED on getting vaccinated as soon as you can!

Vaccines cannot help you if you get infected BEFORE you can get vaccinated!

Even you get a “lousy” vaccine, it will protect you against hospitalisation and death, so you end up with only a mild case of COVID-19. Isn’t that good enough?

Stop Using MySejahtera Helpdesk For Vaccine Appointment!

JKJAV is WARNING people to STOP using the MySejahtera Helpdesk to ask for their vaccine appointment!

Find out what’s going on, and why this is just another Internet hoax!

MySejahtera Helpdesk For Vaccine Appointment?

Viral messages have been circulating on the Internet and WhatsApp, advising people on how to get their vaccinations earlier, or to choose their vaccines :

CARA NAK CEPATKAN DAPAT TARIKH VAKSIN

Yang dah lama dafter vaksin tapi masih tak dapat lagi tarikh, buka app MySejahtera dan cuba cara ini:

1) Klik pada ‘Covid-19 Vaccination’
2) Pilih ‘Vaccine Information’
3) Pilih ‘Helpdesk’
4) Pilih ‘Start’
5) Pilih ‘L Other Queries?’
6) Pilih ‘E Other Issues’
7) Taip ‘Nak appointment vaksin’
8) Tekan ‘Next’ dan tekan ‘Submit’

HOW TO GET AN EARLIER VACCINATION DATE

For those who registered long ago but did not get any vaccination date, open MySejahtera and try this method :

1) Click on ‘Covid-19 Vaccination’
2) Choose ‘Vaccine Information’
3) Choose ‘Helpdesk’
4) Choose ‘Start’
5) Choose ‘L Other Queries?’
6) Choose ‘E Other Issues’
7) Type ‘Want a vaccination appointment’
8) Tap ‘Next’ and tap ‘Submit’

Stop Using MySejahtera Helpdesk For Vaccine Appointment!

On 4 July 2021, JKJAV issued a warningSTOP using the MySejahtera Helpdesk to get an earlier vaccine appointment!

The Helpdesk is meant for people to get help from the JKJAV team, not for people to request for earlier vaccination appointments!

The COVID-19 vaccination appointments are automatically arranged according to these criteria :

  • When you first registered for COVID-19 vaccination
  • Your age
  • Any co-morbidities (chronic illness) you may have
  • Where you currently live

JKJAV warns that there are no shortcuts to getting vaccine appointments, and that there is no need to use the MySejahtera Helpdesk for this purpose.

People who have been using this method in the fake post are drowning out genuine complaints by other users.

Someone should tell the Perak Health Department too, because they themselves fell for the fake news!

This “confusion” or “fake news” is likely based on the earlier fake news that senior citizens age 60 years and above can use the MySejahtera Helpdesk to ask for a vaccine appointment.

So please STOP using the MySejahtera Helpdesk to request for an earlier vaccine appointment… and TELL YOUR FRIENDS to stop doing that too!

COVID-19 Vaccine Dependents Can Go By Themselves!

Did you know that COVID-19 vaccine dependents go for their vaccinations by themselves?

You do not need to accompany them for their vaccinations, but there are some things they should be aware about…

COVID-19 Vaccine Dependents : What Are They?

A COVID-19 vaccine dependent is usually someone who does not have a phone, or a MySejahtera account.

To register them for COVID-19 vaccination, you can sign them up as a Vaccine Dependent in MySejahtera.

You can sign up your domestic helper, elderly parents or even children (18 years and above) as a vaccine dependent.

You can also sign them up as a vaccine dependent even if they already have a MySejahtera account.

Recommended : How To Register Dependents For Vaccine In MySejahtera!

COVID-19 Vaccine Dependents Can Go By Themselves!

In most cases, vaccine dependents are people staying in the same household, so there’s usually no problem in sending them to the vaccination centre when it’s their turn.

However, there are many cases where the vaccine dependent is far away – in a different district or even state.

For example, you can help your elderly parents sign up for their COVID-19 vaccination as a vaccine dependent, even though they are staying in a different state.

The government allows people to travel interstate to help their vaccine dependents get to their vaccination centres. However, that is not always possible.

Vaccine Dependents Can Go By Themselves

Usually, you need to accompany your vaccine dependent to scan the QR codes during their COVID-19 vaccination process.

But if that’s not possible – your vaccine dependents can go for their vaccinations without you!

If they have their own MySejahtera account, their vaccination appointments will be visible, and they can scan the QR codes using their MySejahtera account.

You can maintain them as a vaccine dependent, or remove them – it won’t change their status or appointment, which are tied to their MyKad or passport number.

Vaccine Dependents Don’t Even Need MySejahtera!

In some cases, your vaccine dependents may not have a MySejahtera account, or a smartphone.

Don’t worry – they only need to bring their MyKad or passport to the vaccination centre to authenticate their identity.

Instead of using MySejahtera to scan the QR codes, their COVID-19 vaccinations will be processed manually.

If you maintain them as a vaccine dependent, it will be updated with their COVID-19 vaccination details.

If and when they register for their own MySejahtera account, everything will be shown in their account.

Check List For Your Vaccine Dependents

Before your vaccine dependents go for their vaccinations, please remind them that :

  1. They must CONTINUE to take their medications, unless advised otherwise by their doctors.
  2. They should NOT take painkillers BEFORE going for their vaccination.

And here is a check list of what they should do / bring on the day of their COVID-19 vaccination :

  1. They should wear loose and comfortable clothes.
  2. They should have a good meal, and drink some water.
  3. They should check to make sure they do not have a fever, or any other flu-like symptoms.
If they are sick, they should NOT go to the vaccination centre.
  4. They should bring a smartphone with MySejahtera installed, if possible (not compulsory)
  5. They must bring some form of identification – MyKad or passport.
  6. They should bring their medication with them, in case they need to ask the doctor’s advice at the vaccination centre.
  7. They must wear a face mask, and if possible, wear a face shield.
  8. They should bring a bottle of water, in case they get thirsty.
  9. They should bring a pen, and something stiff to write on, to fill in the forms.

No Need To Update MySejahtera Daily, Fines Cancelled!

We fact-checked the claims yesterday, noting that updating our COVID-19 status in MySejahtera isn’t even required in the General COVID-19 SOP or even the Manufacturing SOP.

But we still get people questioning our fact-check, so here is DEFINITIVE CONFIRMATION on this controversy. Please read this and STOP SHARING FAKE NEWS!

No Requirement To Update MySejahtera Every Day!

The Director General of the National Security Council (MKN) Mohd Rabin bin Basir confirmed that there is no requirement to update your COVID-19 status in MySejahtera every day.

It is not in the General COVID-19 SOP, and as we explained in our fact-check, it’s not even in the Manufacturing SOP.

In fact, the latest 31 May 2021 Manufacturing SOP only required daily COVID-19 status updates for workers who were found to be COVID-19 positive, or close contacts.

Only Update MySejahtera In Certain Situations

He confirmed this with Raja Zawawi from the Ministry of Health, who said that only those who experienced symptoms or travelled overseas should take the COVID-19 survey to update their status in MySejahtera.

Based on the questions, you only need to retake the COVID-19 survey test, and update your status in MySejahtera if :

  • you experienced symptoms like cough, breathing difficulty, loss of smell, loss of taste
  • attended events or went to a location associated with a COVID-19 cluster
  • travelled overseas before experiencing symptoms
  • been in close contact with any confirmed or suspected COVID-19 cases before experiencing symptoms
  • been a MOH COVID-19 volunteer in the last 14 days

Factory Fines To Be Cancelled

The Director General of MKN “advised” the Manjung Police to “take appropriate action and request that the District Health Office cancel the fine“.
