HUAWEI P50 + P50 Pro Deals For Malaysia!

The HUAWEI P50 is now available for pre-order in Malaysia, and the P50 Pro is now cheaper!

Take a look at the HUAWEI P50 and P50 Pro deals for Malaysia!

HUAWEI P50 + P50 Pro : Ultimate Photography Smartphones

The P50 and P50 Pro are HUAWEI’s latest photography-oriented P-series flagship smartphones. Let’s take a quick look at their key features!

True-Chroma Displays

The HUAWEI P50 Pro comes with a large 6.6-inch True-Chroma display, with a resolution of 1228 x 2700 pixels. The P50 has a slightly smaller 6.5-inch True-Chroma display, with the same resolution.

They both use an OLED panel with a wide P3 colour gamut, with a higher maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz (P50 Pro) or 90 Hz (P50), and a maximum touch sampling rate of 300 MHz.

These True-Chroma displays also boast a 1440 Hz PWM dimming control, to reduce eyestrain, and allow for comfortable viewing experience in low-light conditions.

Protected From Water!

Both HUAWEI P50 and P50 Pro smartphones are IP68 water-resistant, so they are safe from water splashes and immersion in up to 1.5 metres of water for up to 30 minutes.

Flagship Performance!

Both HUAWEI P50 and P50 Pro smartphones are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 4G mobile SoC, which is kept cool by a 3D Graphene Liquid Cooling System.

Cameras Delight!

Both HUAWEI P50 and P50 Pro smartphones come with a 13 MP punch hole camera in the front. It has a decent f/2.4 aperture.

The HUAWEI P50 Pro’s key selling point is its massive quad camera setup that consists of :

  • a 50 MP main camera, with f/1.8 aperture,
  • a 40 MP monochrome camera, with f/1.6 aperture,
  • a 64 MP 3.5X periscope telephoto camera, with f/3.5 aperture, and
  • a 13 MP wide-angle camera, with f/2.2 aperture.

The 40 MP monochrome camera complements the 50 MP camera by adding detail to the images it captures – what HUAWEI calls XD Optics with enhanced XD Fusion Pro technology.

The HUAWEI P50 has a triple camera setup that consists of :

  • a 50 MP main camera, with f/1.8 aperture,
  • a 12 MP 3.5X periscope telephoto camera, with f/3.4 aperture, and
  • a 13 MP wide-angle camera, with f/2.2 aperture.

66W HUAWEI SuperCharge Capable Battery!

Both smartphones support 66W HUAWEI SuperCharge technology for really fast charging, while the Pro version also supports 50 watt wireless charging, as well as Wireless PowerShare.

Stereo Speakers With Histen Technology

Both smartphones come with stereo speakers, with HUAWEI Histen technology which allows you to customise sound effects for different scenarios.

Xiaomi Redmi 9T : Key Features

Here is a quick run-through of the Xiaomi Redmi 9T’s key features.

6.53-inch FHD+ Dot Drop Display

The Redmi 9T sports a large 6.53-inch Dot Drop display, with a FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels.

This display has a pixel density of 395 ppi, and a maximum brightness of 400 nits.

It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and is TUV Rheinland-certified for low blue light.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 662

The Redmi 9T is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 – a mid-range mobile SoC released in early 2020.

It has an 8-core processor, with four high-speed Qualcomm Kryo 260 Gold cores running at 2.0 GHz, and four low-power Qualcomm Kryo 260 Silver cores running at 1.8 GHz.

In addition to the Qualcomm Adreno 610 GPU, and 3rd Generation Qualcomm AI Engine, it offers 4G LTE and WiFi-AC connectivity.

Memory + Storage Options

Xiaomi is offering two memory and storage options – 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage.

It also comes with a microSD card slot, in a triple card tray that also supports two nano SIM cards.

This is a big advantage for those who need additional storage, as well as the ability to support two SIM cards.

Five Cameras

The Xiaomi Redmi 9T has an 8 MP selfie camera, with a f/2.05 aperture, hidden in a teardrop notch. A decent front camera at this price point.

At the back, it has a camera system that consists of :

  • a 48 MP main camera, with f/1.79 aperture and 4-in-1 Super Pixel capability
  • an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, with f/2.2 aperture
  • a 2 MP macro camera, with f/2.4 aperture, and
  • a 2 MP depth sensor, with f/2.4 aperture
  • a single LED flash

This is really a triple camera system since the depth sensor does not capture any images, only provides depth data for better software bokeh effects.

Fingerprint Sensor

While many entry-level smartphones do not come with a fingerprint sensor, Redmi 9T has one on the side – an FPC102x sensor.

It is actually built into the Power button, which is more useful than a rear sensor if you attach it to your car’s dashboard.

Power + Charging

Powering all that is a massive 6,000 mAh battery, which supports 18 watt fast charging.

Oddly enough, it comes with a 22.5 watt Xiaomi MDY-11-EP charger in the box, so that’s a nice “freebie”.

Audio Port + IR Emitter

Those who are still hanging onto their wired earphones will be happy to learn that the Redmi 9T comes with a 3.5 mm port at the top.

In addition, it also comes with an IR emitter that lets you use the Redmi 9T as a remote control.

Xiaomi Redmi 9T : Camera Performance + Photo Samples

The Xiaomi Redmi 9T’s 48 MP main camera takes 12 MP photos by default, with a resolution of 4000 x 3000 pixels.

The 48 MP sensor basically combines four pixels into one large “virtual pixel”, for better image quality and low-light performance.

The Redmi 9T produces pretty good photos with more than enough detail at 12 MP, unless you are planning to print large format photos.

There are three issues with this camera though, which we will go through below. In the meantime, take a look at three of the better photo samples we took.

Very Narrow Depth Of Field

First – its large f/1.79 aperture makes for better low-light performance, but has very narrow depth-of-field.

If you take a look at the these photos, you can see how only a small segment is in focus.

This is great for portraits, giving you a nice bokeh for the background. However, if you do not frame and focus properly, you will end up with an out-of-focus photo.

Long Minimum Focus

This camera has a rather long minimum focus, which makes for tricky close-up shots. It doesn’t help that the Redmi 9T won’t tell you when the camera cannot focus properly.

If you take pictures of close-up objects, you will more than likely end up with a bunch of out-of-focus photos.

Post Processing Issues

Finally – its AI post-processing sometimes can wipe out details.

If you look at this photo, you can’t really tell the yellow flower petals apart because the saturation boost just wiped out the detail and contrast.

Xiaomi Redmi 9T : Battery Life

The Xiaomi Redmi 9T comes with a massive 6,000 mAh battery.

To test its battery life, we turned off Automatic Brightness, and set its display brightness to 50%.

Why 50%? That is actually slightly higher than the average indoor brightness level of 40% during the day, and is what we usually use in all our mobile battery life tests.

It is important to fix the brightness level, to make sure the screen brightness does not change as the ambient brightness changes.

We then ran the PCMark Work 2.0 battery life test until its battery capacity dropped to 20% several times, and this was the best result we obtained :

Will you look at that? Almost 20 hours of battery life, and this was based on running work apps non-stop!

This is incredibly long battery life – almost twice as long as the Galaxy Note20 Ultra!

The Xiaomi Redmi 9T may support 18 W charging, and even comes with a 22.5 watt fast charger, but it sure is slow at charging.

It takes over 3 hours to fully recharge its 6,000 mAh battery from 20% – almost twice as slow as the next slowest smartphone – the Black Shark 2 Pro!

Xiaomi Redmi 9T : Work Performance

We tested the Redmi 9T using PCMark, which simulates work applications like web browsing, playing video, writing text and editing photos.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 is a mid-range mobile SoC released in early 2020. So it isn’t surprising to see that it’s only about half as fast as a flagship SoC like the Exynos 990.

Even so, it offers pretty good work performance at this price point. Unless you are comparing smartphones side-by-side, you probably won’t notice the difference.

Xiaomi Redmi 9T Gaming Performance : 3DMark

For gaming, we first tested the Redmi 9T using 3DMark, with these results :

Sling Shot 8128 8127 4883 4343 1844

Needless to say, the Xiaomi Redmi 9T is no speedy Gonzales, when it comes to games.

On average, it only offers about 20% the gaming performance of a flagship chip like the Exynos 990, which powers the Galaxy Note20.

Xiaomi Redmi 9T Overall Performance : AnTuTu

We then tested the Redmi 9T using AnTuTu, yielding these results :

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 has decent CPU and memory performance, but falls short in the graphics department.

It’s good enough for work and the average mobile game. But don’t count on it to push the envelope when it comes to gaming.

Xiaomi Redmi 9T : A Quick Wrap

When we first received the Xiaomi Redmi 9T, we didn’t think much of it. But after a few weeks of trying it out, we came away pretty impressed with a few aspects.

But we also had some concerns, so let’s do a quick wrap…

Fantastic Battery Life

The Xiaomi Redmi 9T has seriously great battery life. This is a smartphone you can count on for a full day’s work without a power bank.

We have actually gone 2 days without recharging, so most users will probably never have battery anxiety with this phone!

Nice Large Display

The large 6.53-inch IPS display is pretty nice, especially at this price point. You would expect a 720p display without protection, but no, this is a Full HD+ panel with Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

It is not particularly bright though, with 400 nits of maximum brightness. So don’t be disappointed if it appears a little washed out in bright sunlight.

Small Niceties

There are a couple of small features that could be very important, and yet are no longer available in other smartphones :

  • 3.5 mm audio port
  • IR emitter
  • Triple card tray with microSD card slot

Pretty Decent Camera

Forget about the 48 MP marketing. It’s really a 12 MP camera. And it’s a nice camera at this price point.

Just watch out for the narrow depth-of-field, inability to take close-up photos and potential over-processing.

Not For Serious Gaming

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 is a pretty good processor at this price point, and offers decent work performance.

However, it has a rather weak GPU. Perfectly fine for those playing simple mobile games, but not for serious gamers.

Slow Charging

Xiaomi may quote a 18 watt charging capability, and even pack a 22.5 watt fast charger in the box. But this baby sure takes its time recharging.

Fortunately, its long battery life ensures that you really don’t need to keep it plugged more than once a day.

Xiaomi Redmi 9T : Our Verdict + Award

The Xiaomi Redmi 9T offers a lot of decent features and a very long battery life, at a great price point.

There are very few smartphones at this price point that would offer you a large Full HD display, a decent processor and camera system, with a large battery.

This is why we believe it deserves nothing less than our Reviewer’s Choice Award!

Xiaomi Redmi 9T : Where To Buy?

The Redmi 9T is available for purchase, in two variants :

  • 4 GB + 64 GB : RM 599 (approximately US$148 / £109 / A$191 / S$196)
  • 6 GB + 128 GB : RM 699 (approximately US$173 / £128 / A$223 / S$229)

And here are some online purchase options :

HUAWEI MatePad T 10s : A Closer Look!

Let’s take a closer look at the HUAWEI MatePad T 10s tablet, and its key features.

Front Camera

In the front, it has a 2 MP fixed focus camera with an f/2.4 aperture. This camera supports 720p video recording.

Rear Camera

In the back, it has a 5 MP camera with a slightly wider f/2.2 aperture, and 1080p video recording capability. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with an LED flash.

Power + Volume Control Buttons

The only buttons you will find are the Power and Volume control buttons, both located along the top edge  (if held horizontally) together with the front and rear cameras.

Ports + Speakers

The ports are all located at the bottom – a USB 2.0 Type C port, and a 3.5 mm audio port, next to the SIM tray.

It also comes with two Harman Kardon-tuned speakers, one at the bottom here, and one at the top.

SIM + microSD Card Tray

The SIM and microSD card tray is located at the bottom, next to the 3.5 mm audio port and USB-C port.

Unlike other tablets in the same price range, it comes with 4G LTE connectivity, and supports a single nano SIM card.

The MatePad T 10s only comes with 64 GB of storage, but fortunately, it also supports a microSD card, which lets you add up to 512 GB of additional storage.

HUAWEI MatePad Pro 5G : Everything You Need To Know!

HUAWEI just upped the ante by introducing the 5G variant of their MatePad Pro premium tablet, with a few tweaks under the hood!

Here is everything you need to know about the new HUAWEI MatePad Pro 5G tablet!

HUAWEI MatePad Pro 5G : Everything You Need To Know!

If you read our review of the HUAWEI MatePad Pro, you will know that we were so impressed with its performance and value proposition, we gave it our Reviewer’s Choice Award.

HUAWEI has just upped the ante by introducing a 5G variant, called, obviously enough – the MatePad Pro 5G.

Kirin 990 5G Mobile Platform

The main difference is its processor – it uses the HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G mobile SoC, which has a built-in Balong 5G modem.

This is a multi-mode modem that lets the MatePad Pro connect to 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks.

In addition, the Kirin 990 5G is faster than the non-5G variant, with an additional NPU :

  • two ARM Cortex-A76 high-performance cores at 2.86 GHz
  • two ARM Cortex-A76 sustained performance cores at 2.36 GHz (2.09 GHz for Kirin 990)
  • four ARM Cortex-A55 low-power cores at 1.95 GHz (1.86 GHz for Kirin 990)
  • two Big Core NPUs + one Tiny Core NPU (1 Big + 1 Tiny for Kirin 990)

3D Graphene Cooling System

To keep the Kirin 990 5G cool, the HUAWEI MatePad Pro 5G features the industry’s first ultra-thick 3D graphene cooling system.

This cooling system is enhanced by AI thermal management, to help keep the tablet cool during scenarios that generate large amounts of heat – downloading on 5G, wireless / reverse wireless charging.

Faster Charging + Wireless Reverse Charging

The HUAWEI MatePad Pro 5G supports 40 watt fast charging – twice as fast as 20 watts fast charging supported regular MatePad Pro tablets.

It also supports 27 watt wireless charging – almost twice as fast as 15 watts wireless charging supported by regular MatePad Pro tablets.

The Maxis 4G LTE Network Is Down! What Should We Do?

At around 4:55 PM today, the entire Maxis 4G LTE network went down, taking with it mobile broadband for all Maxis users. What should you do, if you are on the Maxis 4G LTE network?

The Maxis 4G LTE Network Is Down! What Should We Do?

When the Maxis 4G LTE network went down, it took all mobile Internet connectivity. So you won’t be able to use any Internet-based services like Telegram, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, etc. However, you can still make calls and send SMS messages.

Maxis was fast in addressing the issue, immediately putting out this Maxis 4G LTE network advisory when you call their 123 support number :

The key thing to note is that only their 4G LTE network is down. To restore Internet connectivity, you only need to switch to the 3G network.

Now this means you will experience slower Internet connectivity, but it’s better than no Internet at all. It should tide you over until they fix their 4G LTE network.

Apple iPhones

Celcom just launched Yoodo – their new fully-digital, fully-customisable 4G service! Here’s everything you need to know about Yoodo, and what it means for Malaysian consumers.

The Yoodo Digital 4G Service

Yoodo is a fully-digital, fully-customisable mobile service that runs exclusively on the Celcom 4G network. It is essentially what Yes has been since June 2016 – a 4G-only network with fast mobile Internet and VoLTE capability.

Some people are calling Yoodo a new telco, or a MVNO (mobile virtual network operator). Neither are accurate, because Yoodo is a Celcom service. To explain what Yoodo is, and what it offers, there is no one better than Farid Yunus, Head of Yoodo.

Now, watch how easy it is to sign-up and customise a Yoodo plan!

Free! Free! Free!

Yoodo offers a bunch of freebies right out of the door :

  • Free SIM card – you can order a Yoodo SIM card for free, even without customising or paying for your plan!
  • Free delivery – the SIM card is delivered to you in 1-3 days for free!
  • Free tethering – you don’t have to pay to share your data with your laptop and other mobile devices!
  • Free changes and cancellation – you can change your plan, or leave Yoodo at anytime, without any fees!

For those who cannot wait 1-3 days for the free standard delivery, Yoodo offers an Express Delivery option in the Klang Valley – for RM 15, you will receive the SIM card in just 2 hours!

The Yoodo Price List

Not only is Yoodo fully digital, it is fully customisable. You only select the services you want to pay for.

Data Per Month $ Calls Per Month $ SMS Per Month $
0 GB RM 0 0 Mins RM 0 0 SMS RM 0
2 GB RM 20 50 Mins RM 5 50 SMS RM 3

50 GB RM 110
75 GB RM 140
100 GB RM 150
5 GB for Facebook +RM 10
10 GB for YouTube +RM 20

If you don’t need mobile Internet, you can actually get away with just paying RM 5 for 50 minutes of voice calls, or just RM 3 for 50 SMS messages. The cheapest mobile Internet option is 2 GB of data for RM 20.

The maximum cost (without add-ons) is RM 182 per month, with 100 GB of data, 2000 minutes of calls and 2000 SMS messages.

Roam Like Home

If you are travelling overseas, you can purchase a Roam Like Home pass for RM 10 per day, to make use of your domestic data quota at no additional charge. The Roam Like Home pass is currently available only for these 12 countries :

  • Bangladesh
  • Brunei
  • Cambodia
  • India
  • Indonesia
  • Laos
  • Myanmar
  • Nepal
  • Philippines
  • Singapore
  • Sri Lanka
  • Thailand

Why Is Celcom Launching Yoodo?

With the exception of Yes, which uses a pure 4G LTE network, all other mobile networks in Malaysia employ a hybrid analog-digital network. This allows them to continue using their existing 2G and 3G networks, while supplementing them with the faster digital-only 4G LTE network.

They will all need to migrate their users to a fully-digital network to free up spectrum, and eventually upgrade their network to 5G. Creating these digital-only services allow them to do that, without disrupting their existing hybrid network.

They also need to catch up with Yes, which has been touting the speed and availability of their 4G LTE network.

Maxis 4G LTE tops YouTube Video Checkup Test in all states

Kuala Lumpur, 27 March 2017 – Maxis has emerged as the telco that consistently delivers smooth high-definition (HD) video streaming, according to YouTube’s Video Checkup tool. This web tool, which was officially launched last week in Malaysia only, provides YouTube users with a score of different telcos in a specific area based on YouTube playback quality.

The Maxis 4G LTE Video Checkup Test Results

The results for Maxis’ network performance showed clear leadership across the country :

“Malaysians love the Internet and we believe in delighting our customers with a great mobile Internet experience. This is why Maxis continues to make significant investments to strengthen our network infrastructure so customers can enjoy a differentiated 4G experience on their phones, These results show that HD video streaming is better with Maxis No. 1 4G,” said Morten Bangsgaard, Maxis’ Chief Technology Officer.

He added, “We are glad that such a diagnostic tool has been launched. It provides transparency of different network experiences, and gives users a clear and reliable measure that comes from the aggregation of YouTube data that is gathered from actual user experience.”

The top ratings for buffer speeds on Maxis 4G LTE across 14 states is unequivocal:

According to YouTube, a rating of 4.0 stars is the highest possible rating at this time, as 4.5+ stars are reserved for future technology that support higher bandwidth video such as Virtual Reality (VR) and 360-degree videos.

[adrotate banner=”4″]

The increased use of video has driven a growing demand for Maxis mobile data, which doubled from 1.5GB last year to 4.0GB per month in 2016. There was also a tremendous growth in the penetration of 4G-enabled devices, which increased to 43% of total Maxis subscribers in 2016. Maxis 4G traffic grew 7 times in 2016 mainly used for good quality video streaming.

According to a statement released by Google, “Today, most viewers of YouTube in Malaysia primarily watch videos from their smartphones, with two thirds of Malaysia’s YouTube watchtime coming from mobile devices. Much of this on-the-go watchtime comes from consumers using mobile data plans. The growth momentum for this trend looks strong, as mobile watchtime in Malaysia grew by 84% over this past year.”

The elegantly simple ZenPad 3S 10 LTE (AmazonLazada) is crafted with a slim, compact 5.8mm-thin aluminum chassis and features a stunning 9.7-inch QXGA (2048 by 1536) 2K resolution touchscreen.

ZenPad 3S 10 LTE (AmazonLazada) offers a comprehensive set of entertainment-focused features, including ASUS Tru2Life video-enhancement technology and an incredibly loud, clear and immersive audio system with virtual 7.1-channel surround-sound support.

ZenPad 3S 10 LTE (AmazonLazada) is also the first ASUS tablet to include a fingerprint sensor that allows the tablet to be rapidly locked or unlocked, and which can be work with apps for authentication. ZenPad 3S 10 LTE also supports the optional ASUS Z Stylus, which gives a natural pen-on-paper feel and works with many useful productivity apps.

Elegantly simple: Premium all-aluminum design with class-leading ultra-slim bezel

ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 LTE (AmazonLazada) has a chassis milled from a single block of aluminum to give it a pure, uncluttered appearance. This state-of-the art construction results in a chassis that is a mere 5.8 mm thick — even thinner than a typical smartphone. The metal rear surface and rounded edges are finely sandblasted to give it a smooth matte texture. Its simple elegance is enhanced with brilliant diamond-cut chamfers around the edges. All these premium design and construction elements combine to make ZenPad 3S 10 LTE (AmazonLazada) not only exquisitely luxurious to look at, but also comfortable to hold.

The display is bordered by the world’s thinnest 5.32 mm-thin bezel for a tablet, giving the ZenPad 3S 10 LTE a class-leading screen-to-body ratio of 78%. This makes the ZenPad 3S 10 LTE (AmazonLazada) one of the most compact and slim 9.7-inch tablets available.

Stunning display: 9.7-inch QXGA IPS display with ASUS Tru2Life and ASUS TruVivid

ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 LTE (AmazonLazada) houses a stunning 9.7-inch IPS touchscreen display with a sharp QXGA (2048 by 1536) 2K resolution, making it ideal for viewing high-resolution digital photos and HD movies.

Further enhancing its video playback quality, ZenPad 3S 10 LTE (AmazonLazada) features exclusive ASUS Tru2Life video-enhancement technology that increases the sharpness and contrast of videos. ASUS Tru2Life intelligently analyzes every single pixel in every single video frame and optimizes them for brightness, contrast, color and sharpness before the frame is displayed.

The display also features ASUS TruVivid direct-bonding technology to enhance clarity and brightness while reducing glare. ASUS TruVivid does this by reducing the number of glass layers from the typical six needed in a typical tablet, to just two. Together, ASUS Tru2Life and TruVivid technologies make ZenPad 3S 10 LTE’s screen easily readable — even in in bright sunlight.

Incredible audio: Powerful 5-magnet speakers, smart amplifiers and DTS Headphone

Matching ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 LTE’s superb display is its audio capability. The tablet features a powerful stereo audio system with new five-magnet speakers incorporating NXP smart amplifier technology. The speakers feature extremely strong voice coils that give them loud and clear audio. The smart amplifier incorporates algorithms allow the speakers to be driven at much higher volumes than a standard amplifier, intelligently limiting the coil travel to prevent both audio distortion and long-term speaker damage.

ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 LTE (AmazonLazada) also supports DTS Headphone:X virtual 7.1-channel surround-sound technology. DTS Headphone:X automatically optimizes and tunes attached headphones to simulate the immersive effect of a 7.1-channel surround-sound home theatre system.

Outstanding battery life: High-capacity 7800mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0

ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 LTE (AmazonLazada) has a high-capacity 7800mAh battery that can power it for 16 hours for movie watching. This battery also features Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology that delivers a full charge in about three hours — incredibly fast for such a high-capacity battery.

[adrotate banner=”4″]

Powerful components: Hexa-core Snapdragon 650 processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB eMMC storage

Powering ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 LTE (AmazonLazada) is a set of powerful components that includes a hexa-core Snapdragon 650 processor supported by a generous 4GB of RAM. For storage, the tablet has up to 32GB of onboard eMMC memory and a micro SD Card reader that can support micro SD Cards up to 128GB in capacity.

Completing its multimedia features are the front-facing 5MP camera and 8MP rear camera. The front camera is ideal for selfies, with an 85° field of view that enables a 140° panoramic selfie shooting capability. The rear camera features ASUS PixelMaster photographic technologies, including Low Light mode that combines four pixels on the sensor into a single, extremely light-sensitive pixel for shooting sharper photos in dark environments, or to remove the need for a harsh flash to illuminate subjects.

Designed for ease of use: ASUS ZenUI 3.0, ZenMotion and optional ASUS Z Stylus

ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 LTE (AmazonLazada) offers a very user-friendly interface, with ASUS ZenUI 3.0 featuring ZenMotion touch gestures and an optional ASUS Z stylus. ZenMotion allows apps to be launched from standby simply by tapping or writing characters on its blank screen. ZenPad 3S 10 LTE is also the first ASUS tablet to feature a fingerprint sensor that allows the tablet to be rapidly locked or unlocked, and also works in supported apps for authentication.

Digi VoLTE (Voice-over-LTE) Is Now Available!

Shah Alam, 26 October 2016Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Digi) today announced that the Digi VoLTE (Voice-over-LTE) feature is now available on its 4G LTE network nationwide. VoLTE is a next-generation voice call technology that allows customers to enjoy better voice call quality for those with VoLTE-capable devices such as the newly launched Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Digi VoLTE

With Digi VoLTE, voice calls are connected over a 4G LTE network. Up to now, cellular voice calls in Malaysia for all telcos are generally made over 2G and 3G networks. The higher bandwidth of the 4G LTE network makes it ideal to transmit higher fidelity voice calls that Digi customers can now enjoy. Along with that, Digi VoLTE also comes with a noise cancellation capability that eliminates most background noise for a clearer call experience.

Another advantage of VoLTE is that it allows customers to simultaneously surf the web, download or stream content from the internet at 4G LTE speeds while engaged on a voice call. Up to now, the need to use 3G or 2G infrastructure to connect voice calls means internet activity while on calls will not be as fast as experienced on Digi’s 4G LTE network.

“We are excited to bring this next-generation technology to customers. VoLTE is an evolution of voice call technology. We have been placing voice calls on the 2G and 3G network for years now and it’s a natural shift that we’re bring the higher capacity of our 4G network to offer customers a higher quality call experience.”

“We have been working hard to bring innovation to the market and VoLTE is one of the many things we have in the pipeline for our customers. This is yet another step forward as we move towards our ambition of becoming our customers’ favourite partner in digital life,” said Digi’s Chief Marketing Officer, Loh Keh Jiat.

[adrotate banner=”4″]

To enjoy these new features, which come at no additional cost, both devices making and receiving the call must be VoLTE-capable with the feature switched on and with both customers located within Digi’s 4G LTE coverage area. Digi’s 4G LTE network now reaches 78% of Malaysians nationwide in 225 major cities and towns making it widely accessible for those with the appropriate devices to enjoy an improved call quality.

Digi customers who bought the newly launched iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be among the first to experience VoLTE as the smartphone comes equipped for it. Customers with earlier versions of the iPhone, including the iPhone 6S, 6S Plus, 6, 6 Plus and SE will also be able to enjoy VoLTE calls as long as they’ve upgraded their iOS version to 10.1 and activated VoLTE from the device settings. VoLTE capability in devices from other manufacturers will be rolled out soon in stages.

Meanwhile, customers with devices that are not VoLTE-capable need not worry as there are no changes to the way they enjoy Digi’s voice calls.

In fact, Yes fired a shot across their rivals’ bows with an amazing line of prepaid and postpaid plans. Watch CEO Wing K. Lee tell you why the Yes 4G LTE network is superior to the other mobile services in Malaysia.

They even brought in an expert panel (moderated by Bloomberg Malaysia’s Sophie Kamaruddin) to talk about the importance of developing Malaysia into a 4G nation.

If that was not enough, YTL Communications also launched their own smartphone – the Yes Altitude. This is part of Yes 4G’s strategy to make 4G more accessible to the Malaysians from all walks of life.

The launch was officiated by the Malaysian Minister of Communications and Multimedia Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr.) Salleh Said Keruak, together with YTL Corporation Berhad Chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Panglima (Dr) Yeoh Tiong Lay, YTL Corporation Berhad Managing Director Tan Sri Dato’ (Dr.) Francis Yeoh Sock Ping, YTL Communications Executive Directors Dato’ Yeoh Seok Hong, and Dato’ Yeoh Soo Keng, as well as Chief Executive Officer Wing K. YTL Communications CEO Wing K. Lee also announced the availability of the new Yes Altitude smartphone to complement their new VoLTE-capable network. Now, let’s check out new Yes 4G LTE prepaid & postpaid plans!

Yes 4G LTE Postpaid Plans

There will be five Yes 4G LTE postpaid plans, ranging from RM 48 per month all the way to RM 158 per month. What’s really exciting is that they all offer the most mobile Internet quota in the market. Check them out!

Yes takes aim at their rivals by comparing their Postpaid 88 “Hero plan” against their “similar” offers. However, please note that the Yes Postpaid 88 plan actually costs RM 88 per month.

The RM 70 price is after the RM 18 deduction (first 11 months) for the RM 198 you must prepay to receive the free Yes Altitude smartphone. Ultimately, you still end up paying RM 88 per month.

Even though the Yes graphic above is a bit misleading, Yes is undoubtedly offering a lot more data at a much lower price point. Maxis, Digi, Celcom and UMobile will be hard-pressed to charge so much for their plans.
