Never heard of Facebook Moments? You are not alone. Most people never heard of it, much less used it. Hence, it comes as no surprise when Facebook officially killed it today.
Facebook Moments
Let’s take a moment to reflect on Facebook Moments (pun intended)…
Launched on 15 June 2015, Facebook Moments had real promise. It was a photo sharing app that helps you curate the photos you take. It uses facial recognition to identify faces in the photos you take, so you can easily share them with people in those photos.
The idea was to build a photo sharing social network where your friends will automatically receive their photos (if they have the app installed), or get a notification in Facebook Messenger they have photos ready to be downloaded.
It was an interesting concept, with great potential of extending Facebook’s reach. Unfortunately, not many people used it, and after 3.5 years of lacklustre reception, Facebook decided to kill it.
Don’t cry for me, Facebook users… The truth is you never knew me…
