Spread the love

The government has officially announced a walk-in vaccination program for teenagers, but it is NOT open to all.

Here is what you need to know, before you head to the vaccination centre!

Walk-In Vaccination : Limited To Certain Teenagers

On 15 September 2021, the Malaysian government announced their aim to vaccinate 80% of adolescents before they start the new school year in March 2022.

To this end, they created CITF-A (COVID-19 Immunisation Task Force-Adolescent) to set the policies and coordinate the implementation of the adolescent vaccination plan.

On 21 September 2021, the Malaysia Health Ministry (KKM) announced a walk-in programme for certain teenagers.

Walk-In Vaccination For Teenagers : What You Need To Know!

Here is what you need to know about the walk-in vaccination programme for teenagers.

Teenagers Who Qualify For Walk-In Vaccination

These teenagers (defined as 12-17 years old) are ALLOWED to walk into PPVs for their COVID-19 vaccination :

  1. Teenagers who are no longer studying (in public / private schools)
  2. Teenagers studying in public or private universities
  3. Teenagers who are home-schooled.

The government has specifically asked parents NOT to bring their children to “walk-in” for their vaccinations unless they are in the three groups above.

Note : Only one (1) parent / guardian may accompany each teenager for vaccination, to avoid crowding.

Teenagers Who DO NOT Qualify For Walk-In Vaccination

These teenagers (defined as 12-17 years old) are FORBIDDEN from walking into PPVs for their COVID-19 vaccination :

  1. Teenagers who are studying in public or private schools, including international schools.
  2. Teenagers studying in boarding schools, including day boarding schools.

These groups will be given appointments through their schools or MySejahtera.

What Vaccine Will Be Given

As mentioned earlier, teenagers in Malaysia will receive the Pfizer COMIRNATY vaccine, which was approved on 15 June 2021 for children of 12 to 17 years in age.

Vaccine Quota

Every COVID-19 Vaccination Centre (PPV) assigned to this program have been asked to reserve at least 20% of their daily vaccine quota for teenagers.

This is to ensure that adult vaccinations can proceed without interruptions or delay.
