Did Pfizer use a toxic placebo in their COVID-19 vaccine trial that killed 4 people, just to make their vaccine look safer?

Claim : Pfizer Used Toxic Placebo In Vaccine Trial!
Now that the Pfizer Comirnaty vaccine received full FDA approval, antivaxxers are looking for new ways to scare people from getting it.
They are reviving the story that Pfizer used a toxic placebo in their COVID-19 vaccine trial, to make their vaccine look safer than it really is.
They claim that Pfizer injected the placebo group with toxin that killed four of the volunteers, just to make the two deaths in the vaccine group look safe in comparison.
Here is one example of the claims being shared on social media and instant messengers like WhatsApp :
Six people died in Pfizer’s late-stage trial of the COVID-19 #vaccine, the US Food and Drug Administration has revealed just hours after Britain became the first country in the world to roll out the vaccine.
(4 of the 6 died from the placebo injection, why would #Pfizer have to use a deadly #placebo, short of manipulating data by attempting to reduce the appearance of the induced cytokine storm from injected toxins compared by skewed contrast to even deadlier toxins!?)
One of the vaccine recipients had a cardiac arrest 62 days after a second dose of the two-dose vaccination and died three days later. The other died from arteriosclerosis three days after a first dose of the vaccination. One of the placebo recipients died from myocardial infarction, another from haemorrhagic stroke and two others from “unknown causes”.
Truth : Pfizer Did Not Use Toxic Placebo In Vaccine Trial
Pfizer did not use a toxic placebo to skew the vaccine trial results, and here are the reasons why…
Fact #1 : Pfizer Used Normal Saline As Placebo
A placebo is, by definition, a substance meant to have no therapeutic effect.
So it comes to no surprise that Pfizer used normal saline (NS) as the placebo in their COVID-19 vaccine trial.
Normal saline is a common salt solution of 0.90% w/v of sodium chloride (NaCL), frequently used in intravenous drips.
However, the small amount injected as placebo has no effect on the body. Exactly what a placebo is meant to do.
Fact #2 : Correlation Is Not Causation
As we earlier pointed out in our articles on the Pfizer vaccine causing Bell’s palsy or deaths, correlation does not imply causation.
Even though four people died after receiving the placebo, we simply cannot say that the placebo killed them.
For example, if you get pregnant after getting the COVID-19 vaccine, does it mean that the vaccine made you pregnant? Of course, not.
Here are three examples of why correlation is NOT the same thing as causation.
Fact #3 : The Deaths Were FEWER Than Expected
People die every day, and in the United States, about 2.8 million people died in 2018 – an average of 7,779 every single day.
- Overall mortality rate : 0.8678% of population per year
- From heart disease : 0.200% of population per year
- From cancer : 0.183% of population per year
- From accidents : 0.051% of population per year
- From stroke : 0.045% of population per year
A total of 37,796 people participated in the safety phase of the Pfizer Comirnaty vaccine clinical trial, divided equally into 18,904 people (BNT162b2 vaccine), and 18,892 people (placebo).
Based on the normal mortality rate, we would expect 164 people from each cohort (vaccine or placebo) to die from “natural causes” this year, or 82 people in the roughly 6 month trial period.
Yet only 4 people died after taking the placebo, instead of the expected 82. That’s a mortality rate of just 0.021% – 41X lower than the normal mortality rate.
Does that mean normal saline placebo protected them from natural causes of death? Again, correlation does not imply causation.
Fact #4 : The Deaths Were Of Natural Causes
The US FDA briefing document also laid out the causes of two of those four deaths :
- Placebo recipient #1 : myocardial infarction
- Placebo recipient #2 : haemorrhage stroke
- Placebo recipients #3 and #4 : unknown causes
As you can see, the two deaths are completely unrelated to any normal saline or vaccine injections. More importantly, there is no indication they died of any toxins.
When they listed the cause of the other two cases as unknown, it doesn’t mean there’s a cover-up. People do just die of natural causes.
Fact #5 : Pfizer Comirnaty Vaccine Proven Safe + Effective
The Pfizer Comirnaty vaccine received its full FDA approval after a rigorous process that included following up clinical trial volunteers for at least six months.
It has not only been proven to be safe and effective after that long clinical trial process, it also proved to be safe and effective in the real world.
Pfizer and BioNTech has shipped more than a billion doses by August 2021, which have been used to protect hundreds of millions of people across the world.
Baseless claims by antivaxxers that it would change people’s DNA and kill them have all been proven false.
