The Dell Inspiron 15 7000 (7570) Laptop Review

The Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Keyboard & Touchpad, Cooling & Speakers

Keyboard & Touchpad

The Dell Inspiron 15 7000 (Price Check) has a full-sized keyboard with chiclet keys. It is backlit, and spill-resistant.

It comes with a relatively large touchpad that supports multi-touch gestures and scrolling.

The large surface area gives you a lot of space to rest your wrist, while keeping clear of the large touchpad.

If you are wondering where is the fingerprint sensor, Dell integrated it into the Power button on the upper right corner of the keyboard. Yes, the fingerprint sensor is PART of the Power button!

Cooling Vents & Rubber Feet

The Inspiron 15 7000 (Price Check) is powered by the latest 8th Generation Intel Core i7 or Core i5 processor, with an NVIDIA GeForce 940MX GPU. All of their heat is channeled and exhausted out the back and underside, through these series of cooling vents.

Note the thick rubber strip running along the width of the Inspiron 15 7000. There is another one in the front. They keep the Inspiron 15 7000 securely “locked” to your table or lap. These rubber strips work better than four small rubber feet used in many laptops.

Speakers

There are two speakers – one on each side – on the underside, near the front rubber feet. They are powered by Waves MaxxAudio Pro, but don’t expect much from them. They are basic speakers. If you want better audio, use headphones.

Thank you for this review. I’ll probably buy it now. Like other Dell notebooks, this one seems to have user-replacement parts as well. As availability & prices happen, I’ll be replacing the SSD, HDD and other parts, as usual.
My 2013 model Dell XPS-15 has an old Intel i7.

Now to an upgrade, with user-added 2TB HDD and 2TB SSD, but the fastest Intel CPU, at the moment. Only my “old” 2TB HDD might transfer to the new unit, but prices have dropped so much now, that the old 2TB HDD to 4TB is easily upgraded.

On the audio upgrades, many hardware options now exist. Bluetooth & other wifi units of all kinds. Cabled units of many types also are easy, cheap & high quality now. Trouble is that these options are so new, so rapid, that that this year’s “best” changes each year. The low-priced items being made in China, with strange China-brands, seem worth purchasing, every year now, imho.
