Samsung Galaxy S20 : What Should You Expect?

Samsung Galaxy S20 Series : What Should You Expect?

On 11 February 2020, Samsung will unveil three new Galaxy smartphones – the Galaxy S20 series!

On the cusp of the big reveal, let us share with you what you can expect from the Samsung Galaxy S20 series!

Samsung Galaxy S20 Series : What Should You Expect?

Okay, let’s do a quick run-down of what you can expect Samsung to announce for the Galaxy S20 series :

Hi! My Name Is Picasso!

The codename for the Samsung Galaxy S20 series is Picasso, and even though it is sequentially supposed to be the Galaxy S11 series, Samsung is calling it the Galaxy S20 series.

Why? To align with the year 2020? To breakaway from the S10’s naming convention of S10e, S10, S10+? Perhaps it’s both reasons?

Congratulations! You Have Triplets!

Samsung will release three models to target different segments :

  • Galaxy S20 Ultra : 6.9-inch display, 108 MP camera, and 48 MP telephoto camera with 10X zoom
  • Galaxy S20 Plus : 6.7-inch display, 12 MP camera, and 64 MP telephoto camera with 3X zoom
  • Galaxy S20 : 6.2-inch display, 12 MP camera, and 64 MP telephoto camera with 3X zoom

Speedy, Speedy Gonzales!

Needless to say, the Samsung Galaxy S20 series will boast the latest mobile platform :

Both mobile platforms should offer significantly better performance than their predecessors.

On top of that, they will also use the new LPDDR5 memory, which is 30% faster and 30% more efficient than LPDDR4x memory.

Say Cheese!

Finally! Samsung makes a big upgrade in the photographic department!

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra will come with a 40 MP wide-angle camera in the front, and a quad-camera system at that back, with :

  • an ultra-high resolution 108 MP main camera,
  • a 48 MP telephoto camera with 10X optical zoom,
  • a 12 MP ultra-wide camera, and
  • a ToF camera

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus and Galaxy S20 will both come with a 10 MP front camera, and a quad-camera system at the back, with :

  • a 48 MP main camera,
  • a 48 MP telephoto camera with 5X optical zoom,
  • a 12 MP ultra-wide camera, and
  • a ToF camera

Unfortunately, Samsung is dropping their Dual Aperture camera technology…

My… What Big Batteries You Have!

To ensure they last a long time, Samsung is giving all 3 models a boost in battery capacity :

  • Galaxy S20 Ultra : 5,000 mAh (S10+ : 4,100 mAh)
  • Galaxy S20 Plus : 4,500 mAh (S10 : 3,400 mAh)
  • Galaxy S20 : 4,000 mAh (S10e : 3,100 mAh)

On top of that, we expect all three to ship with a 45W fast charger, instead of the 25W fast charger.

Hit The Road, Jack!

Samsung dumped the audio jack in the Galaxy Note10 series, and it’s not coming back.

We are hoping that Samsung will include an audio jack adaptor, because the Galaxy S20 series will also not have an internal DAC.
