HUAWEI just upped the ante by introducing the 5G variant of their MatePad Pro premium tablet, with a few tweaks under the hood!

HUAWEI has just upped the ante by introducing a 5G variant, called, obviously enough – the MatePad Pro 5G.
Kirin 990 5G Mobile Platform
The main difference is its processor – it uses the HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G mobile SoC, which has a built-in Balong 5G modem.
This is a multi-mode modem that lets the MatePad Pro connect to 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks.
In addition, the Kirin 990 5G is faster than the non-5G variant, with an additional NPU :
- two ARM Cortex-A76 high-performance cores at 2.86 GHz
- two ARM Cortex-A76 sustained performance cores at 2.36 GHz (2.09 GHz for Kirin 990)
- four ARM Cortex-A55 low-power cores at 1.95 GHz (1.86 GHz for Kirin 990)
- two Big Core NPUs + one Tiny Core NPU (1 Big + 1 Tiny for Kirin 990)
3D Graphene Cooling System
To keep the Kirin 990 5G cool, the HUAWEI MatePad Pro 5G features the industry’s first ultra-thick 3D graphene cooling system.
This cooling system is enhanced by AI thermal management, to help keep the tablet cool during scenarios that generate large amounts of heat – downloading on 5G, wireless / reverse wireless charging.
Faster Charging + Wireless Reverse Charging
The HUAWEI MatePad Pro 5G supports 40 watt fast charging – twice as fast as 20 watts fast charging supported regular MatePad Pro tablets.
It also supports 27 watt wireless charging – almost twice as fast as 15 watts wireless charging supported by regular MatePad Pro tablets.
