The Leaked HUAWEI Mate 20 Photos + Details

After overtaking Apple, HUAWEI is aiming its sights at Samsung. It is a steep mountain to climb, with a huge gap in their sales, and the overwhelming popularity of the yet-to-be-released Samsung Galaxy Note9, but they’re hoping that the upcoming HUAWEI Mate 20 will help them gain on Samsung.

XDA Developers managed to get their hands on actual leaked photos of the HUAWEI Mate 20. TO protect their sources, they recreated it in the form of 3D renders. Here is what we know about the HUAWEI Mate 20, based on their renders, and other sources.

Water Drop Notch

The HUAWEI Mate 20 will feature a tiny water drop notch, just enough to house its front camera. Just above the notch is a small speaker port.

6.3-inch AMOLED Display

The HUAWEI Mate 20 will have a larger 6.3-inch display with an AMOLED panel, which will give it brighter and more vivid colours. However, it will feature a reduced display resolution of 1080 x 2244 pixels, and a lower pixel density.

HiSilicon Kirin 980

The HUAWEI Mate 20 will be built around the new HiSilicon Kirin 980 platform, and run on Android Pie.

It will have four ARM Cortex-A76 high-performance cores running at up to 2.8 GHz, and four ARM Cortex-A55 cores for less background or less-intensive workloads.

It will also have a 24-core ARM Mali-G72 GPU, which should double its graphics performance. On top of that, it will support LTE Cat. 19 download speeds of up to 1.6 Gbps.

3.5 mm Audio Port

If you still use the 3.5 mm audio port (we do!), you will be glad to know that the HUAWEI Mate 20 will still retain it, and it will be located at the top.

Triple Camera System

The HUAWEI Mate 20 will feature a triple camera system, probably the same as that of the HUAWEI P20 Pro (Price Check), albeit in a cubic arrangement with the flash.

If so, it will feature a dual-lens camera that pairs a 40 MP RGB camera with f/1.8 lens, with a 20 MP monochrome camera with f/1.6 lens. The separate 8 MP RGB camera with f/2.4 telephotos lens is capable of 3X optical zoom, and 5X hybrid zoom.

Bigger Battery + Wireless Charging

The HUAWEI Mate 20 will come with a bigger 4,200 mAh lithium-ion polymer battery, which should give it better battery life. It will also have a glass back, in order to support wireless charging.
