A reputable-looking website just reported on the death of the King of Thailand, Maha Vajiralongkorn, from COVID-19 in Germany.

This is yet another Internet hoax, and we will show you how you too can fact-check these sensational stories for yourself!

A reputable-looking The StuffPost website posted this shocking news :

Thai King dies of coronavirus while in self-isolation in Germany

The King of Thailand, Maha Vajiralongkorn, has died of coronavirus in Germany a few days after testing positive for the deadly disease.

King Maha Vajiralongkorn had gone into self-isolation inside a luxury hotel in Germany. He has booked the entire hotel for himself… and 20 female concubines.

Here is a screenshot of the page, with a HOAX overlay to avoid misuse.

Not One News Agency Reported His Death

A quick check would reveal that no new agencies have reported the King’s death, only this one website.

That should tell you that this isn’t true. A death of a monarch is major news that would have been published by news agencies, large and small, all over the world.

The StuffPost Is NYCINews.com?

The website is called The StuffPost, but did you notice that it is using the NYCINews.com domain?

No legitimate website would do that, because it makes it difficult for people to locate them.

If you see a website use a vastly different domain from its name, it’s almost certainly a fake site. Nelassa.com is another example.

The StuffPost Is A WordPress Theme

The StuffPost is actually a WordPress theme that ANYONE can purchase. The website creator did not even change the default logo!

NYCINews Has Only 8 Articles???

The NYCINews website looks legit, but if you just check Latest News, you will see that there are only EIGHT articles in the entire website!

The other articles appear to be copied from legitimate websites. Only the article on the Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn appears to be fake.

Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn Is Back In Bangkok

BILD reported that the Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn flew back to Bangkok on 3 April 2020.

As you can see, the Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn is very much alive and well!

 

Thai King Death From COVID-19 : FAKE NEWS!

As you can tell by now, the report of the Thai king’s death that was posted by the fake The StuffPost / NYCINews website is FALSE.

Since that is the only fake article on the website, we believe the website was created specifically to embarrass the Thai King, by attracting the world’s attention to the fact that he fled to a resort in Germany to avoid COVID-19.

 

COVID-19 : How To Keep Safe!

Here are a few simple steps to stay safe from COVID-19 :

  • Avoid suspected cases or disease hotpots, like hospitals, if possible!
  • Avoid public events and crowds
  • Keep our hands clean with soap or hand sanitiser
  • Keep our homes, offices, vehicles, etc. clean
  • If you need to wear a surgical mask, make sure you put it on and remove it properly!
  • Wash your food with water (and soap) after purchase and before preparation
