PlayStation 5 : A First Look At Its User Experience!
It’s less than a month to the official launch of the PlayStation 5 console, and Sony just shared their very first look at its user experience (UX)!
They designed the PS5 UX to “completely” centre on the player, in order to deliver deeper immersion that quickly connects you to your games and the PlayStation community.
In this video walkthrough, the PS5 team gives you an early look at its user experience.
Do note that this video was recorded off a pre-production environment, so there may be some minor differences to the final version when it launches in November 2020.
PlayStation 5 : New User Experience Features
The new PlayStation 5 UX introduces several new features to make your gaming experience “more fun, engaging, personalised and social“.
- a new Control Centre, which provides immediate access to almost everything you need with a single press of the PlayStation button on the DualSense controller – all without leaving the game.
- Activities, which are displayed via on-screen cards in the Control Center. They enable you to:
– discover new gameplay opportunities,
– go back to things you missed,
– jump directly into levels, or
– jump into challenges you want to play
Some Activity cards can be put in picture-in-picture mode, so you can view them without leaving the game.
The PlayStation 5 team also rebuilt the entire software stack, from the console to the network, so that navigating the interface, switching between games and hopping into online matches occurs quickly.
