For Honor Starter Edition is a cheaper version with access to the full game, story mode and all PvP modes. It just has a different system for unlocking Heroes.
The 3 Vanguard Heroes (Warden, Raider, and Kensei) are fully unlocked from the beginning. But 9 other Heroes are not yet recruited. In addition, 3 Heroes of your chosen Faction are playable in-game but not customisable. The remaining Heroes (not of your chosen Faction) can only be played in practice mode.
The Starter Edition allows you to unlock these 9 standard Heroes for 8000 Steel each. All other Heroes (Centurion, Shinobi, Highlander, Gladiator, Aramusha, and Shaman) are locked.
Why Is Ubisoft Doing This?
Simple – if you try out the Starter Edition and enjoy it, you will probably pay to upgrade to the Standard, Deluxe or Gold editions! In fact, Ubisoft is offering a 75% discount on the For Honor Standard Edition, For Honor Deluxe Edition, and For Honor Gold Edition!
