I remember people used to say that if we knew the truth about what these elitists and politicians had done that they would never be able to walk the streets in safety. After this, I believe we are going to get to that point.

11,000 politicians and elites received an exemption for the Covid vaccination: “This is shocking”.

An Open Government Act (FOIA) request revealed that 11,000 politicians and members of the elite had been exempt from vaccination, said Michael Gray Griffin in an interview with doctor Paul Oosterhuis and Liz Gunn, leader of the New Zealand Loyal Party.

Truth : NZ Politicians + Elites Did Not Get Covid Vaccine Exemptions!

This appears to be yet another example of FAKE NEWS circulating on X (formerly Twitter), and here are the reasons why…

Fact #1 : Vaccine Exemptions Were Given To Healthcare Workers

Let me start by pointing out that the approximately 11,000 COVID-19 vaccine exemptions issued by the New Zealand health agency, Te Whatu Ora, were given to people in “health-related work”.

Te Whatu Ora interim director of prevention Matt Hannant confirmed that those COVID-19 vaccine exemptions were all given to health services:

103 applications were granted, covering approximately 11,005 workers.

In other words – the 11,000 COVID-19 vaccine exemptions were not given to politicians and/or elites. Well… unless you consider healthcare workers “members of the elite”!

This was pointed out in a Te What Ora letter to a freedom of information request by Erika Whittome (PDF). Ironically, this same letter was shared by people who claimed/suggested (example) that those exemptions were given to politicians and the elites!

Fact #2 : Vaccine Exemptions Given To Keep Healthcare Services Running

Matt Hannant also said that the Te Whatu Ora granted those COVID-19 vaccine exemptions to keep healthcare services running in New Zealand during the pandemic.

The exemption was necessary or desirable to promote the purposes of the Act [Covid-19 Public Health Response Act 2020] and prevent significant disruption to health services.

Health services that applied for these exemptions had to show that there was no other option to keep their service running, and that they had done all they could to protect against COVID-19 transmission.

The criteria for the SSDE exemption was that a critical health service would not be able to be provided if the workers were unavailable and the organisation had done all they could to mitigate the risk of Covid-19 illness for consumers, colleagues and the general public.

Fact #3 : COVID-19 Vaccine Exemptions Were Temporary

Matt Hannant explained that there were two types of COVID-19 vaccine exemptions available at that time:

  • Significant Service Disruption Exemption (SSDE), which covered essential health care workers, and,
  • Temporary Medical Exemption (TME), which was available to anyone over 18 who met the clinical criteria.

According to the Te Whatu Ora, the Significant Service Disruption Exemption (SSDE) was temporary – the longest lasting just eight weeks.

Hannant also explained that the SSDE exemptions were issued temporarily so that health services could continue while their workers were being vaccinated.

SSDEs were put in place so that essential health services could continue while one or more health care workers completed the mandated COVID-19 vaccine course or could be vaccinated with an alternative COVID-19 vaccine.

To be clear – the SSDE exemptions were not only issued to certain health care workers, they were also temporary.
