Claim : Nagarjuna Cement mocks September 11 attack in viral video!

People are sharing a video which purportedly shows a controversial advertisement by Nagarjuna Cement mocking the September 11, 2001 attack on the United States.

The viral video shows an airliner flying into a tall building and bouncing off it, instead of exploding. The airplane then reverses and goes around the building, suggesting that the building was simply too hard to take down.

Truth : Nagarjuna Cement did not create video mock September 11 attack!

This is yet another example of fake news circulating on TikTok, YouTube, and social media platforms, and here are the reasons why…

Nagarjuna Cement did not create that 9/11 attack advertisement

First, let me just point out that Nagarjuna Cement did not create any viral advertisement mocking the September 11 attack on one of the World Trade Center towers.

If that was really the case, it would have been reported widely by media outlets all over the world. Yet, there has been no legitimate news report of any Nagarjuna Cement advertisement mocking the 9/11 attacks.

Nagarjuna Cement refuted claims it created the video

Nagarjuna Cement itself publicly refuted (archive) the claim that it created the video as an advertisement on its account on X (formerly Twitter) on 20 March 2024:

Kind Attn: For the past few days this meme has been circulated on social media platforms. We would like everyone to know that we have nothing to do with this content or the creator and we wish to report the illegal usage of our copyrighted/trademark brand logo and our ad content.

Viral video was edited from two video clips

The viral Nagarjuna Cement advertisement mocking the September 11 attack on the Twin Towers was actually created from two separate video clips.

The first 5 seconds was taken from a 3D animation of an airliner bouncing off a World Trade Center tower, with the bonk sound effect, that was created by animator Wraysque and posted on YouTube on 20 February 2024.

When someone mentioned to Wraqsque that the video was being used in the Nagarjuna Cement video, he/she said:

lmao,,, i dont think they ever mentioned my channel on their vid, glad u found my channel, here is a cookie

The second part was taken from the last 13 seconds of an actual Nagarjuna advertisement that was posted on YouTube more than 3 years ago – on 13 May 2021.
