Fergie : Another Victim Of Celebrity Death Hoax!

Find out why Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas went viral on social media, and became the yet another celebrity to get killed by a death hoax!

Claim : Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas Is Dead!

Chris Tucker went viral on social media over the weekend, after people started posting that he just died on the way to the hospital.

It apparently started when a Facebook page called R.I.P. Fergie was created on Saturday, October 1, 2022, harvesting almost a million page likes with this viral message:

At about 11 a.m. ET on Saturday (October 01, 2022), our beloved singer Fergie passed away. Fergie was born on March 27, 1975 in Hacienda Heights. She will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.

If that looked familiar, that’s because it was created by the same people who created the R.I.P. Chris Tucker page that went viral a day earlier.

Truth : Fergie Is Not Dead, She Is Very Much Alive!

This is yet another example of FAKE NEWS on Facebook that was created to harvest Likes, and here are there reasons why…

Fact #1 : No Announcement By Her Reps

Fergie (whose real name is Stacy Ann Ferguson) is represented by Jonathan Levine at Wasserman Music.

If she died, Jonathan Levine or Wasserman Music would definitely issue a public statement.

Despite claims that they issued a statement on 2 October 2022, there was no such statement.

Fact #2 : No Mention Of Her Death In Mainstream Media

The mainstream media has prepared obituaries for celebrities, and would be amongst the first to break the story.

We are talking about an extremely successful solo artist, and the former lead singer of the Black Eyed Peas. Her death would have been worldwide news!

Yet, not a single newspaper or news network like CNN / BBC, not even celebrity blogs like TMZ, broke the story that Fergie died?

That’s because it never happened – Fergie is very much still alive, and well.

Fact #3 : Fergie Is Often Confused With Other Fergies

This isn’t the first time Fergie, the singer, was claimed to have died in the past. This is partly because there are two other famous people using the same Fergie nickname.

  • Sarah, the Duchess of York (Sarah Margaret Ferguson)
  • Sir Alex Ferguson (Alexander Champman Ferguson), the former manager of the Manchester United football club

Whenever people start referring to the other two Fergies, Fergie – the singer and former member of the Black Eyed Peas – is often confused for them.

For example, football fans started an R.I.P. Fergie to taunt Sir Alex Ferguson in May 2012, but that led people to assume that they were saying that Fergie – the singer of Fergalicious – passed away.

Fact #4 : This Is Just Another Example Of Celebrity Fake News

This is yet another example of fake news created by rumour and fake news blogs to drive traffic and increase page views for ad money. Here are examples of other celebrity fake news that we debunked earlier:
